/pulls up a chair
what if the real "rejoining" is building bridges between all the shards and opening up trade
and instead of killing these split souls, opening a path for a way that the natural process of a reconnected Lifestream allows for a slow, gentle rejoining, with no sacrifice involved on the part of any of the newly born souls
what if we mend the broken world after all, but instead by building the pieces into something new, rather than trying to force the shape back to how it was
what if we fill our wounds with gold
and become transformed?

Personally I think I should have a sprout icon until I have been subbed to and have played the game for at least a year. They ripped it away from me at the end of EW after only playing the game for 3 months and it is so AWKWARD doing old content and having to be like "it's my first/second time in here".

Just as a heads up, because I do have a few mutuals who consistently interact with my stuff-
As hyped as I am for Dawn Trail, this blog will not be posting story spoilers or discussing story at all. I tend to avoid discussing story in general.
I don't even plan on picking up either new class until the first content lull where I'll put Viper on my alt. (Even at that point, this blog would just see gposes of him in that gear)
I have two more Endwalker-era gposes that I'm editing and I'm planning to post today. The initial Dawn Trail gposes (when I get to them lol) will probably be capturing improved outfits thanks to the new dye channels.

ffxiv should have a glam mechanic where if u get all jobs versions of accessories then u can trade them for an all-jobs glam version of it. like one each of the aiming/healing/fending/slaying/casting versions.
cos accessories between jobs havent had different appearances since like.. heavensward? which only was the case w some crafted ones afaik. and in arr-hw the accessories were all classes anyway so i only need one of each
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
like girl help . they cant use the excuse that they want to keep certain jobs aesthetics cos theyre litrally the same model across jobs auuuhhhh
i would wayy prefer needing to grind out all of one accessory to get an all jobs glam version than using up 5 slots per one accessory to be able to use it on all glams
also all the mogtome glam rewards need to be able to be put in the armoire. not just the returning ones from other events. but thats another thing
edit cos i wrote this post before 7.1 and am only posting it now: the new glam set mechanic that they added works p well. especially for items that the player doesnt want dyed. so they could, theoretically, add that function to groups of accessories like this .....yknow stuff that cant be dyed anyway...... please ....... there would still be some visual clutter but itd free up so much room in the glam dresser
+ ALSO as they have the choices of what type of glam set you wanna store (eg the skirt version or the pants version, both share the same shirt) they could add an option for people who get the whole tier of accessories but only for one job. like instead of storing all the same earrings for all jobs together, there could be an option for storing the earrings, necklace, bracelet and ring of that accessory tier for one job . does that make sense i hope it does

One of my favorite parts about Dawntrail is that no one knows who the WoL is.
Like, Koana has a vague idea, sure, and Galool Ja Ja clocks that we're far from average in an instant, but no one else has a fucking clue who this adventurer the Third Promise brought with her is.
Cause it leads to so many moments that are absolutely hilarious for us as players (and arguably our WoLs if you rp).
The way every threat of violence against the WoL and the party, and every "I bet you've never seen anything like this" could absolutely get one of the responses about:
-how we've slain eikons and gods,
-how we've saved the Star multiple times,
-how we've channeled (and honestly probably still have some of) the power of dragons,
-how we've been to other worlds, the past, and the edge of existence
And instead we get to respond with things that are effectively intimidating smiles and humble confidence.
It's not "Bitch, you don't who you're messing with."
It's "Yeah, ok, bud." Which is arguably the funnier and the more insulting of the options.
This is Stormblood all over again, but x2 cause we've done so much more than help settle revolutions by now. 😂

Teleportation magic in FFXIV is actually the craziest thing
like, it's established so early on you don't have to think about it, and I expect the writers also didn't think too hard about it when they were first putting together the worldbuilding. but we teleport through the Lifestream. we dip in and out of the afterlife every time we go anywhere long-distance. and this is such a normal part of everyday life that major settlements basically all have giant crystals in the middle that are meant to facilitate this kind of travel.
and to be absolutely fair, in a world where the afterlife really was a place underground, we totally would build a subway system through it and put Hades in charge. it's not like it doesn't make sense, it's just. wild.

"Zero is a stand in for Cecil from----"
I don't give two fucks what nostalgia bait FFXIV is trying to pull. Zero's change is so frustrating to me, and it's again that stupid 'oh light is better than/conquers the dark'. I LOVE voidsent and was hoping for an actual fulfilling story with them, instead we got 'embrace the light' for some stupid parallel people constantly bring up like it makes the shitty story palatable.
I will never stop hating patch 6.5, legit. I really did like Zero too. Now, every time I see a post about her I roll my eyes.
I do find it hilarious that people always talk about her and liking her BEFORE the dumbass change too. Makes me feel less alone in my frustrations.

My fave thing abt XIV is that everyone just has that One Zone that they always find themselves coming back to. Where they take all their gposes, where they AFK to listen to the music and relax, where they think back on their memories in the game and can smile with knowing. Every time I go to the Omphalos I just have this breath of relief, it feels like home, it makes me feel comforted. If that makes sense at least.

I wish... I wish we could get the chance to tell G'raha how loved he is.
Romantic headcanons of each player (which are valid) notwithstanding, he is loved so deeply by so many people in canon, yet he is so singularly-focused on his mission that he doesn't seem to notice. This man, who sought to sacrifice himself for the sake of the world and us and intended for neither us nor the world to ever find out. This man, who asked if he would merit a footnote in our story someday. I just wish we could make him see.
How Rammbroes talked about him after he shut himself in the Crystal Tower. The final letter from the Ironworks crew in the alternate timeline, locked away in the depths of the Tower, addressed to him, entrusting him with all their hopes. How contrary to his expectations, WoL remembered him, and cried out his name desperately when he was about to sacrifice himself. The city that he watched over for a century, generations of people who loved him so very, very dearly. Does he know how they cried when he left? How Lyna cried? How she worries about him still? (that part, at least, we did tell him). They way Alisaie teases him like he's family, her absolutely devastated scream when he sacrificed himself at Ultima Thule.
This man who constantly devotes his all to helping others, because he can't help but love the whole world, yet thinks his efforts are insignificant in comparison to everyone else, thinks he won't be remembered by others even as he gives all he has to save them, never seems to notice that his kindness has mattered to so many people, who care so deeply for him.
I just wish we could tell him, you know?
