In case anyone didn't know this regarding masking: advice about wearing an n95 or kn95 just depends on where you live and what is being sold where you live. The mask that meets US standards of air filtering is called the n95 and it is named that way because it filters 95% of airborne particles of a certain size. The kn95 refers to the Chinese standard. If you're in Europe then there's a different naming system which is FFP followed by a number which denotes the level of filtering. FFP2 can be seen as equivalent to the kn95 or n95 as the 95s filter 95% and the FFP2 filters 94%. Wherever you are you should look up the standards and naming conventions your country uses before buying masks. I faced some confusion after seeing guides online recommending n95 and then not being able to buy them because they aren't sold here unless imported !
#and i was soooo so glad having these masks on trains and the tube recently#btw i recommend europapa ffp2 masks because you can get them in funky colours and they are a decent price per use#and they are designed with folds that i find the most comfortable of any disposable masks i've used#because they fit the contours of the face and provide a decent seal around the mouth and nose

Really pissing me off that people are replying to TCB’s mask tweet saying it’s not common to wear masks in the UK anymore… as if it is in the US either?? That’s why they have to ask
#anyway i have some extra masks i can bring when i go if availability is such a problem#(surgical not n95/ffp2 but better than nothing)#but joey retweeted something about boots selling them fairly cheaply#them not being worn as commonly is not an excuse not to wear one to THIS show where this is the 2nd cast member out due to illness

My best friend came to visit and i feel like myself. And i like her so much and she is so wonderful.
#own post#also we got to debrief about how awful our school time was together#which was very validating and nice#and she wore a mask for me#just like the whole time#she brought one specifically#and i felt safe enough to take a quick drink indoors because she wore ffp2 the whole time and i had my air filter running too#and she brought me a gift!!!!!!!#for home warming#a lovely wonderful gift that was thoughtful of something i had told her about

it's 2024 and people still don't know that ffp2 (or n95 if you're in the us) masks filter our viruses
#they're not 100000% effective#technically they're 95% effective if fitting well#if you want more you can get ffp3 for example#i wear ffp2 for everyday at work but when we have meetings or when i go into crowded spaces the doctor or the pharmacy i wear a ffp3 mask

my glasses broke today and I'm so sad because I've had them for 5 years now and while I've been wearing glasses for most of my life these were the ones I loved the most and felt the most like me
#feels like the end of an era :((#i'll take them to the store next week to see if they can be fixed but i don't have high hopes because the screw that holds togeth3r#the frame and the glass didnt just fall out the whole screw literally broke in half and crumbled? and parts are still left inside the hole#and then i looked at the other parts and the screws dont look much better and the metal is kind of wonky:(#but i loved them so much#they were golden and a round frame that kind of looked like pilot glasses idk if thats the right term#but they were at the same time very simple and sth special that not everyone has#i'm lucky i still have contact lenses and my backup glasses with a pretty accurate preacription so i can still see stuff#though when it happened it was as i was putting away my sunglasses on the subway#so when i took out my glasses and they were broken i had to put my sunglasses back on to see things lol#always a good look to wear sunglasses on the subway#esp combined with my ffp2 mask#i couldve been an incognito celebrity or sth#ramblings

Meant to post this awhile back, pretty sure I forgot.
I experimented over the winter with learning how to do spiral granny squares and then crochet them together. I made myself a little sleevie thing. Probably has a name, I have brain fog about it. Anyway there is no pattern...I just made the granny squares as needed to fit my body in the way that I wanted so I could have quick warm sleeves any time I need. I googled for YouTube vids on the swirling granny squares, if anyone needs I can try to find the one I used.
I'm basically now an old lady who sits in a rollator covered in granny squares bahahaha.
Red Heart mexicana for the rainbow and probably Red Heart soft black for the black, or something equivalent, can't remember.
Yay swirly rainbows!
(no advice/critiques please, just joy)
PS I am aware of the spatter on the mirror, I clean it regularly, my 9yo brushes her teeth at that sink and enjoys making a mess of it and I'm tired.

Literally the only content I got during the concert, if I had been 20cm taller I probably would have gotten some decent photos but alas. Met the loveliest family who stood next to us and we had a little bubble in which we could almost breathe without someone being constantly at our backs, that was honestly a lifesaver. 🪶🤍

Yikes they're going to stop making masks mandatory in public transport in Spain in about a week. Commuting during rush hour is going to get even more fun (derogatory).

seeing all the people going to the taylor swift coldplay etc concerts don't you know we're in a huge covid surge and it can still very much disable you. you could get it in an asymptomatic manner and still get these same issues or pass it on to someone who will get disabled for life or die from it. i get not caring for your own life and safety but are you really ok with inflincting this to other? knowing you probably have caused someone's disabilities or death ??
