FernClan’s History
Heeelllooo, my dear readers!
The blog is still pretty new, but I figured why not go over FernClan’s history - as well as territory, the camp itself, landmarks… etc.
For anyone who stumbles across this blog and has no idea what it’s about, the blog is dedicated to an alternate universe ft. Wordgirl x Warrior Cats! FernClan is the stand-in for Fair City, chosen as a pun on the city so it wouldn’t have to be FairClan wheeze- but anyway! I plan on breaking this down with the background of how the clan came to be, including all the other fun stuff!
So- for one thing, a group of cats escaped from a research facility and sought refuge within the forest in the hopes of not being found by the scientists. Things at first, were tense as they had no idea how to survive until one of the cats received a vision from StarClan - telling them they must form a clan in order to survive from the horrors ahead. FernClan became founded soon after, and eventually more cats began to join from all sorts of places (between wandering kittypets, strays, and more!), eager to experience clan life.
Though as the group continued expanding, trouble arose in the form of natural predators - not to mention unfriendly felines who would attempt to steal prey or cause problems by attacking the clan cats. Well, until a brave young cat by the name of Cometshine decided to boldly chase out the rogues and became the first savior great warrior of FernClan!
Though sometime after, seemingly without any explanation - Cometshine disappeared. No one knew what happened to him. Some claimed he might have found a mate, others believe he had other cats to help but it did shape FernClan’s history…
If you’re curious about the rest of the FernClan lore, check below the cut!
TERRITORY
FernClan is located deep within the forest, surrounded by wild flowers and thickets of berry bushes. At the center of the territory is a clear lake used for hunting. Prey is plentiful during the leaf-fall and new-leaf seasons, though it can quickly grow scarce during leaf-bare. The clan's known for having vines which the cats can used to hunt after birds, squirrels, and other critters living on tree branches. FernClan also has an old, abandoned playground which the apprentices frequent. It got remodeled a bit and the cats decided to add their own 'equipment' (which is meant to reference the episode "Tobey's Playground Calamity".
CAMP GROUNDS
FernClan's campgrounds are a little bit different. The leader's den is located just a bit away from the center of the camp; as it was once a wild critter's cave, the top is layered with moss and has a small array of flowers spreading around it. A canopy of moss falls from the top of the cave - almost like a curtain - clan meetings tend to be held around the leader's den. The medicine cat den however, is a smaller cave which was caused through moons and moons of erosion. The camp is filled with a lot of moss which is often used to make nests for the cats. The warriors' den is located closer to the entrance, made from a large opening which gets longer as once gets inside since cats dug in order to create more space. A small, seeable hole can be seen from the top. The apprentices' den strongly resembles a burrow and the nests are of course, made of moss - cushioned by other accessories found within the territory. FernClan's camp is known to be fairly big in order to accommodate for unexpected, new arrivals though it's been a while since new visitors arrived within the clan.
PREDATOR AND PREY
As FernClan is located deep in the forest, prey consists largely of mice, rabbits, rodents, and birds. Though there are also squirrels during leaf-fall and new-leaf which are a bit harder to reach during times of leaf-bare. Reptiles can be found closer to the lake, primarily consisting of lizards and snakes which can make for a good, tasty snack. Since FernClan's members have been known to be adapted with climbing, they have also been known to snag prey within the trees.
Unfortunately, FernClan does have predators which largely consists of foxes and the occasional badgers. Dogs are a rather uncommon threat though further within the territory, there are wolves which means the cats must be careful when venturing deeper. Birds of Prey such as hawks are a problem though FernClan felines, as they come from different backgrounds, are known for striking them down.
OUTSKIRTS AND BORDERS
Beyond the clan territory, and well past the broken fence, there are other lands... though cats tend not to venture that far. On the other side of the fence is a barn where other cats might dwell. Past the barn and heading down a dirt path, there's a seemingly abandoned cabin though it still appears to be in roughly good condition. FernClan cats are highly advised not to go beyond the borders, mainly due to the rumors of reaching the city which slims the chances of making it back to the clan.
FernClan borders another clan though no one has seen the members of said place in ages. [INFORMATION REDACTED]
KNOWN LANDMARKS
Woodview Point: Woodview Point is a cliff which is part of the mountains past FernClan. Cats are advised to travel in groups instead of alone as the area can get steep. However, it has been used as a training ground for apprentices in order to better their climbing and hunting skills. Great Lake: The Great Lake is a body of water located within the clan's territory. Fish is plentiful within there and apprentices are often taken as a way of perfecting their hunting skills. Raven's Ledge: Raven's Mountains are the surrounding mountains located further into FernClan. While they are known for being a bit steep, cats are known to travel - especially when it comes to the medicine cats as there's another landmark which allows connections to the Starry Plains (a term referring to the bridge between the mortal plane - aka the clan and beyond - and StarClan).
There might be other landmarks but for now - this is the best I could come up with. More for FernClan will be revealed soon and there is intention of making an official discord roleplay server, though we'll breach that later. The Dark Feline Association will also be talked about in a separate post!
Though for now, I bid you all a goodnight and good luck with classes picking up again tomorrow.

Note
Will there be a story attached to why the Starclan cat had Fernclan form, or was it just a random way to set up the clan?
To be entirely honest it was a random way to set up the clan! However I may be able to think of a lore reason for this <3

Welcome to ElementClan!
Hello everyone! Inspired by blogs such as @fallenclan, @bitterclan, and @fernclans, I've decided to make a Clan Gen blog of my own.
Now, I can't draw cats as quickly as I would want to in order to make this an art blog, nor do I have the motivation to write a short story for every moon. Instead, I'll be posting moon-by-moon summaries of what these cats get up to.
The Challenge
With this Clan, I decided to do the Magic Challenge created by Nix (he/they) on the ClanGen Discord. Basically, cats can have Earth, Water, Fire, or Air magic. Some cats are powerless. Some cats can use all four of them and can glow as well. The Clans view these cats as blessed by StarClan and are revered by all. There are other cats who can control all the elements and can glow, but they also exude a dark aura and can kill other living things with a touch. The Clans see these cats as dark-cursed and fear the influence of the Dark Forest through them.
My Gameplay
I stuck pretty close to the original rules, but made a few changes based on how I like to play the game. I decided that cats can each only control one element (unless they're star-blessed or dark-cursed) and I assigned each cat a power level using a dice roll.
I've actually been playing this Clan since May and have 262 moons worth of summaries written down (aka, I have a solid backlog). But that also means that there are some cats who have faded and I don't know their sprites, ages, or personalities. This also means that I won't be able to answer questions about cats' relationships, personality traits, etc. from early moons.
Because I have such a big backlog, I'm currently planning on posting once a day every day at 9:30 am mountain time.
Enjoy learning about the lives of these cats!

Lore
ElementClan is feared by the other Clans.  As the only current Clan with a Dark Cursed leader and deputy, it is thought to have a violent darkness at its heart.  The fact that they live underground only adds to their mystique.  Battles with ElementClan are almost guaranteed to be lost.  Their leadership can kill with a touch and their fearsome fire warrior is one of the most powerful mages the Clans have ever seen.  But what truly goes on in this shadowed Clan?  Let me shine a light into their darkness to show you. . .

@healerelowen i had
Idea
Also i just woke up its 2 in the morning
We should make
New clangens
Possibly in beta version so we have fresh kill pile + cool lake camp
And we totally lore them together
Your clan and my clan border each other and we make cool events happen like war or forbidden love or one cat switchinv to the other clan
We can like
Do the thing where we start with like 1 or 2 cats
Cuz a super bad thing happened and killed everybody or like two different stories like 1 of our clans had something where leader was like “go far far away” while the other maybe was like “you, me, new territory. Whatre we doing there? New clan of course!” Or like one is from far away and the other lived here but bad thing happened to rest lf clan
We can like
Do planning on discord so its secrece from everybody til moon event s go public
Totally didnt think of this cuz ive been going through so many new saves cuz im not entirely satisfied with echoclan and kestrelclan the second is taking a hot minutr to get to drawing and the super cool dream i had with spireclan cedarclan fernclan and crowclan is having a few bumps
Im sparky

Fernclan Lore Pt. 2
- Fernclan, while generally kind-hearted, do typically have a very strong sense of justice; of right and wrong. They are fair, and that makes them good moderators, but it can also be taken too far... Within the clan, this can be interpreted in a very black and white degree; with little desire to understand shades of grey. Fernclan apprentices often have a rebellious phase due to a strong adherence to the warrior code and this strict attitude.
- If Gorseclan’s community values the self, Flaxclan’s community values the family and Tussockclan’s values the spiritual element, then Fernclan values the community as a whole. Everything a cat does is in service to the clan as a whole.
- Fernclan camp; a soft green glade formed by a fallen great tree, is kept immaculate. Fallen leaves are tidied away and any growing seedlings that may one day become trees that would cover the glade are removed, bedding is fresh and neat, and any leftovers from prey such as feathers and bone are buried just outside the camp. Fernclan cats tend to decorate their nests with strong smelling plant-life or blossoms they find pleasant.
-Cats outside Fernclan see them as decadent and too fond of the soft things in life. Resentment for Fernclan is common, especially when coupled with their forest providing them with abundant food year round. Historically, this makes them a common target for attack from other clans. - With their nobility and strong sense of justice, Fernclan cats can be a bit uptight, and prone to lecturing. They have an altruism in them that leads to them sometimes getting involved where they are not always wanted. This leads to the other clans seeing them as snooty and incredibly nosy. A Fernclan cat always has to stick their nose in and be the hero!
- Fernclan is diurnal; the shade of their forest allowing them to be active for most of the day with ease.
- Fernclan leaders call meetings from the Fallen Tree; a large long dead tree which was rent asunder from the ground, its roots exposed and main body snapped. Moss and other plant life has overtaken much of it, which the leader utilizes for their den. - Fernclan is described as having a clan scent akin to the forest after rain; of leaf litter and must. Due to using strong smelling plants and flowers in their nests, individual cats often have a unique odor to their clan scent.

Fernclan
Camp
Fernclan has its camp behind a stream, surrounded by a large rock formation, sheltering the camp on all sides. The dens are made from sticks and rocks, and are covered by Fernleafs.
The healers den is inside a hollow fern bush, at the side of the rocks, acting as an entry and sleeping space for the healer, while the overhang of the rock gives ill cats a place to sleep, a small shelf of stones at the far back of the den.
The leader sleeps in a small cave above the Tallstone, from where Ceremonies and Clangatherings are hold. Underneath it is another den, in a half cave reinforced on both sides with Fernleafs.
Freshkill is gathered next to the elders den, in a small hole, covered with more ferns.
Main territory
Fernclan lives in a luscious forest, with beautiful scenery. Tall trees grow here, which are covered in moss. Ferns, tall grasses and stones / rocks crowd the ground. The territory is warmer than most of the others, and gives a near perfect place to live in.
Kill and potential threats
Though it is beautiful, kill can be sparse. There are not a lot of rodents here, and most birds live high in the trees. So these cats had to adapt and start hunting reptiles instead. Sometimes even insects or large spiders.
Fernclan has less threats than the other clans, but often have to endure long periods of hunger. The presence of venomous snakes also poses a threat.

Suffix System for the Nightfall Clans
(they’ve got their own blog @wc-nightfall , but its a little bare still. There are still four clans: FernClan, CoveClan, ThicketClan, and MarshClan, just for the sake of writing them out)
This should be fun! And another Coveclan! Lovely, I have one of those myself.
Medicine Cat Suffixes
-petal is reserved for medicine cats that have a special skill in working with plants.
(Gingerpetal, the only -petal in my clans currently, is an interesting -petal case: she’s actually horrible at growing plants, her skillset is best with preserving and figuring out how to use them, not so much growing.)
I appreciate the idea that medicine cats are also cultivating plants, I think its wise for medicine cats to be aware of their supply and actively care for it.
-song is reserved for medicine cats that are exceptionally kind and caring to all.
-berry and -leaf are appropriate for medicine cats that have a skill in working with plants.
-flower is appropriate for medicine cats that are skilled at healing and nursing cats back to health - ties into the forgotten motherhood aspect of the warrior suffix -flower.
-whisker is appropriate for medicine cats that are generally very intuitive or observant.
-heart is appropriate for medicine cats that have a very strong moral code and follow their heart.
-cloud is appropriate for medicine cats that are a jack-of-all-trades type.
These are all quite lovely, and well thought out, however I am wondering if these are exclusive to medicine cats? Some of these suffixes could easily be given to other warriors. I guess my question is, do your clans have more than two medicine cats each? If not, why are these suffixes considered to be only for medicine cats? How do they end up not becoming archaic due to their lack of use, if they are far less common than the other suffixes due to simply being available to less cats? This is not a criticism by any means, just curiosity.
Warriors, skill-based
-flight indicates a cat that is very light on their feet, fast, and agile.
-claw indicates a cat that is a very skilled fighter.
-whisker indicates a cat that is generally very intuitive or observant.
-nose indicates a cat that has exceptional tracking abilities.
-fang indicates a cat that is equally skilled in both hunting and fighting.
-heart indicates a cat that has a very strong moral code and follows their heart.
-frost indicates a cat that is very analytical and good with words.
I like this interpretation of -frost. I’ve always liked it as a suffix, Ive just struggled to find a good way to include it. Seems like you solved that!
-flower indicates a cat that is fiercely protective.
(-flower lore: used to be used for motherly cats, but obviously, queens were extremely protective of their kits and clanmates, and slowly, it became known that you didn’t want to cross a -flower cat, and from there it morphed into its current meaning.)
I can appreciate the idea behind this, but it seems a tad narrow of any idea. Being protective is not necessarily a skill, as much as it is an ideal, and that isnt always positive. Perhaps if you give it a bit more meaning? Like maybe the idea of serving their clan above all else, even if its not in the glory of battle, but the small parts of life like advising, supporting, rebuilding camp.  Just as a queen gives all for their kits, time, energy, everything. I guess ultimately my question is why did it stop being used for queens? Do the clans not value the position of queens or the idea of parental love and care? If thats the case that is fine different clans have different ideals, but you might want to discuss why it fell out of favor for queens even if it gained a new meaning for others. Do queens have another suffix instead? Or do they not have a suffix at all?  I’d love to hear more about this.
Warriors, appearance-based
-fur or -pelt indicates a cat that is a jack-of-all-trades type with a solid coat.
-stripe indicates a cat that is a jack-of-all-trades type with a tabby coat.
-storm indicates a cat that is a jack-of-all-trades type with classic tabby markings.
-feather indicates a cat that is a jack-of-all-trades type with a distinctive feathery coat.
-dapple indicates a cat that is a jack-of-all-trades type with a tortoiseshell coat. Very uncommon.
I really like the expansion of appearance based suffixes, particularly the use of -dapple here. -feather seems a bit a niche suffix, but that’s not bad, its just might indicate that long fur is either more common or more rare depending the clan. I am interested in the choice for -storm, it makes perfect sense, i’ve just never considered it before! You have some really good ideas.
Correlating
-step indicates a cat that has a distinctive gait that correlates with their prefix.
Archaic (actually my favorites lore-wise)
Just want to say, having archaic suffixes is genius! It says so much about the culture and the personal interference of leaders in naming conventions, as well as  just general naming trends!
-wing indicates a mostly white cat with a saddle on their back, has become less prominent due to less favoring skill-based or -fur and the lack of cats with this specific pattern.
This is another new interpretation of a suffix, but makes perfect sense, it also makes sense its uncommon, cant be too many cats out there with these markings at any one time probably.
-splash indicates a cat that is a jack-of-all-trades type with patches of color or white on their coat. There was a string of MarshClan leaders who weren’t fond of it, leading to its eventual downfall. Shellsplash and Coppersplash are the last two bearers of it. Notably, Coppersplash had nearly been named Copperwing, but that was around the time when -wing was losing popularity.
-stream indicates a cat that is very good in water. However, this skill has become more common and less of a special talent, and this suffix has fallen out of favor.
-foot indicates an especially fast and agile cat. Has been replaced with -flight for unknown (presumably aesthetic) reasons.
-blaze indicates a cat that is a true warrior. However, this name become commonly wanted, and apprentices began throwing themselves into danger in hopes of proving themselves, and it was quietly retired and shifted into the umbrella meaning of -claw.
I do appreciate this one, it definitely makes sense that apprentices would do something dumb to get a special name.
-tail indicates skill in climbing trees. Eventually, the clans realized that climbing trees led to a disproportionate number of injuries, and it was slowly phased out.
I would disagree with you on this. Cats have been climbing trees for as long as they have been cats. While falls might occur, I doubt it would occur to such a high degree as if humans were climbing trees. Sure cats might fall but they also have bodies built for shock absorption, and a mechanism which allows them to 99.9% of times land on their feet. The times when injuries might occur are inexperienced and young apprentices (who are still growing and who’s bones and bodies might be more sensitive) or the elderly for obvious reasons. In a clan with the right precautions it shouldnt be a major issue. Of course that is my personal opinion, so you can take that with a grain of salt.
-branch indicates skill in climbing trees. An archaic version of -tail.
-blossom indicates an unusual skill with plants, for medicine cats only. An archaic version of -petal, unclear why the shift occurred.
Anyhow, I know this list is really big, but some suffixes are a lot more popular in some clans, it gives room for leaders forgetting about some suffixes, there are surges in popularity of suffixes, etc.
I like this, its nice to see a naming system evolving and adapting. You did a really nice job! Keep up the good work!
-flower used to be used for motherly cats, but obviously, queens were extremely protective of their kits and clanmates, and slowly, it became known that you didn’t want to cross a -flower cat, and from there it morphed into its current meaning.

Icefeather
A bulky white molly with bright yellow eyes, long silky fur, and a very feathery tail.
Icekit -> Icepaw -> Icefeather
Warrior of FernClan, mentor to Briarpaw
Icefeather is a strong warrior and a force to be reckoned with in battle, though if ever mentioned to her, she’ll lower her ears and mutter something about being embarrassed by all the attention. As an apprentice, she took the loss of Dawnpaw hard, striving to become stronger so next time, she could protect herself. Her and Duskpaw often butted heads, as her goal of protecting herself without help often clashed with his goal of protecting everyone, but there were no true hard feelings. She was offered the name of Iceblaze for her fierceness, but she declined and opted to be named for her feathery tail.
She’s far quieter and more reserved than one would expect from such a bulky warrior, but Icefeather wants to be known for more than her skill in battle. She enjoys staying around the nursery and telling stories to the kits or telling them of old clan lore. Abigail also enjoys spinning tall tales to the kits, so Icefeather spends a fair amount of time debunking her stories. No, if you eat a bird tail-first, you don’t suddenly grow talons, please, Goosekit, stop trying to make Creamkit do that.

Note
when i was in 5th grade some friends and i had a clan called mossclan. well, for some reason, in our clan's lore, we decided that the teachers were all in a clan called fernclan. without telling them, we decided that this clan we assigned them to was our enemy. one day, we launched an attack on our rivals. warrior cats was promptly banned from school and there were nearly legal charges.

FernClan Navigation Page
Heeelllooo, my lovelies!
So this blog is dedicated to a crossover between Wordgirl x Warrior Cats of my own design. It was originally inspired off of this post and I decided to make my own, because I am an impulsive little kit. I'm going to break the navigation page into different sections and that way you can get an impression of how everything works!
To preface this, FernClan is meant to represent Fair City which currently does not technically have a leader (right now, the intention is it's the canon mayor-) but this will be covered again later. The clan is located deep within the forest in order to avoid being detected by "two-legs", the clan term for humans. Two warriors by the name of Foxspirit and Oakshade found an abandoned kit and her 'pet' ferret, deciding to raise her as their own. Deciding to give the little molly her own clan name, she became Flarekit. Eventually they came to have another kitten, this time a tomcat, but little did they know just how different their lives would become.
FernClan has seemingly been the only clan in the area though - who knows, there might be another. As for our resident villains, they're a rogue organization known as the Dark Felines Association (not the most creative, I know-) which live on the outskirts of clan territory. This is the rough overview of the background information, but now we get to the fun part.
Read below the cut for more information!
Full lore will be covered in another post, but Cats of FernClan is a project by a fan and written FOR fans. This is not meant to reflect any preexisting canon as this was done to share within the community.
FERNCLAN CATS PLOT
Flarepaw and her fellow clanmates, a group of apprentices, are now undergoing training to become warriors but of course - FernClan has always been full of surprise. Ever since she was a kit, Flarepaw was communicating with cats only she could see. They attempted to guide her, claiming she would be the "word of the clan". Whatever that meant.
Though as the apprentices continue their journey, the Dark Felines Association is looking to cause trouble...

Fernclan Lore Pt. 1
- Fernclan has its origins in Sunclan; the founding population made up of the cats left behind when the Gorseclan splinter group left. For a while, they remained Sunclan under the leader at the time; Frecklestar. Eventually, as the new Gorseclan started carving up sections of their old land; often times with conflict the Sunclan cats were not prepared for (along with a lack of will to fight old clanmates) the remaining cats decided that Sunclan as it was could no longer be, and Fernclan was formed with the election of its first leader; Fernstar.  - Ferncurl had originally planned to leave with her good friend/rival Gorsethorn. She was one of the few who could match wits with him, and they had grown up together, only one moon apart in age. Ferncurl changed her mind, though her exact reasoning is lost to time. Well liked and politically minded, as well as a talented warrior despite being blind from birth, she eventually posed to Frecklestar that a new clan should form from Sunclan’s remnants, and gain its own identity; otherwise they risked being chased out by Gorseclan entirely. The entire clan voted towards this change, and with it asked Frecklestar to step down; the aged tom deciding to give way to his clan’s favoured candidate for the new age; Fernstar. - Fernstar and Gorsestar spent most of their clan’s early histories butting heads and matching tactical wits as the struggle went on to form new borders. One would outsmart the other at each new engagement. Eventually, seeing no end to the conflict, the still intact Moonclan’s leader at the time; Flowerstar, mediated a meeting between the two, where the borders were decided to be much of like that of the current arrangement; the river marking the split between them.  - Fernstar was notably saddened upon the news of Gorsestar’s death. Despite their conflicts, they had once been close friends. After her own death, it was said that where she was buried had a beech tree seed planted; now the site of a massive tree. Alongside it is a small gorse bush, unable to grow well because of the shade, but having been there as long as the Fernclan cats can remember. It is believed Fernstar asked for it to be planted alongside her pre-determined gravesite before her death; honouring her old friend.
- Echoing their first leader’s wishes, all Fernclan cats are buried before trees in the forest, or have them planted above their graves. Fernclan cats believe the forest is their ancestors; protecting, providing and watching over them. They feel most comfortable in the forest’s depths, and awkward and nervy out in the open. - Fernclan are more diplomatic than the other clans, likely linked to their early formation. While the general clan authority of leader, then deputy etc remains, important matters that impact the whole clan are voted on by all cats apprentice aged and above. The leader has the ultimate say, but generally takes the will of the clan into account when deciding things. In theory, the clan can even majority vote to remove the leader, though this actually happening is exceedingly unlikely.

What are kit rearing methods for each clan? Are same sex partners allowed?
Gorseclan is probably the most traditional, and the most like canon where kits are raised largely by their own mothers, though a queen may help another out now and then. Perma-queens are basically unheard of. Fathers tend not really that involved but it depends on the individual; think more similar to the first series. Same sex pairs are the most scrutinized within Gorseclan, though their treatment largely varies by leader's whims. Icestar currently takes a silent judgement but largely ignores them type approach. Same goes for trans cats like Sedgetuft. Fernclan is all about what the individual can do for the clan as a whole, so communal rearing between queens is commonplace. There are some perma-queens as well. Fathers are much more involved than in Gorseclan, but still rearing of kits is more left up to mothers. Same sex pairs are more accepted, but compared to Flaxclan there tends to be fewer volunteers for surrogacy. Tussockclan is very similar to Fernclan, though Wise Ones are often quite involved in caring for the mothers and when they are older, kit rearing; teaching them important clan and Starclan lore and stories and imparting wisdom. They are usually happy to mind kits while their mothers are gone; this has become more commonplace in recent times with the clan being low on warriors.
Flaxclan is the most flexible clan in this department; Monarchs will often care for kits not their own, so the mother can return to warrior duty immediately (this happened with Sharptongue, with Littleshade raising her kits instead). Male Monarchs also have been known to occur; toms choosing to dedicate their time to care of the next generation rather than warrior duties. Fathers are also much more involved; it would be considered something worth gossiping about if one did not check in on his mate and kits daily. Same sex pairs are the most common in Flaxclan, and they are widely accepted and supported.

Gorseclan Lore Pt. 2
- While generally known for being a combative clan, and considered aggressive bullies by the other clans, Gorseclan cats are actually very affectionate with their own. They are tactile cats, wanting to have physical contact with friends and loved ones. They will seek out contact when upset or frightened, and often when watching a group of Gorseclan cats on the move, tails will be resting on the backs or flicking against the shoulders of the cats nearby.
- Sharpstar, Gorseclan’s second leader, was a big believer on strength conquers all. He was the cat that founded a historical use of one on one combat to settle disputes among individuals in the clan. A cat challenged in this way cannot refuse, or they are branded a coward; the worst thing to be in Gorseclan. This practice rarely led to death, but at the peak of its use the amount of injuries that resulted from spats over the smallest things caused the leader of the day to ban it. However, two leaders later, it was reinstated. Despite this, it never became as popular again, and in modern Gorseclan, has not been invoked in many years. Ironically, Sharpstar lost his leadership under his own method, as he lost a duel challenge to a young headstrong warrior. His honor and respect in tatters, he went to Starclan of his own accord to surrender his remaining extra lives.
- There is a section of highly disputed land between Gorseclan and Fernclan; a section of floodplain and an adjacent section of riverbank. Historically, the river’s course was different, and the land was on Fernclan territory; on their side of the river. However, the river changed, and now its on the Gorseclan side. Gorseclan maintains anything on their side of the river is theirs, as that was the original agreement when the two clans split from Sunclan. Fernclan maintains that it was always their land, and therefore its land it should remain. The land is not even that valuable as a hunting ground; its purely a matter of stubborn pride at this point.
- Even Herbalists (Gorseclan medicine cats) are trained in basic combat techniques.
- Gorseclan cats have mastered weaving thorny plants into their camps defenses, without doing injury to themselves. This, along with the rocky landscape, makes breaching the Gorseclan camp very difficult.  - The leader calls meetings from the High Stone; a flattened large section of the rock formation that juts out from the crevice where the leader makes their den.  - Gorseclan is crepuscular; the majority of their activity being during early morning and late afternoon. They sleep during the night, and have a long rest period during the middle of the day; during hot summers this is a practical concern, but has over time become a cultural thing that goes year round. The clan tends to all return back to camp to eat, share tongues and complete tasks around camp such as changing bedding and repairing dens.
- Gorseclan’s clan scent is dry, harsh and earthy. Other clans say it is sharply unpleasant.
