The Start of Fernclan

and so we begin...

I should draw a distressing event that happened very early on in Fernclan (Moon 11 specifically)

That event being when I put my leader (Firestar), my deputy (Blizzardfin) and a random warrior (Bristlerock) on a patrol only for them to get ambushed and killed by rogues, the leader losing all 9 lives in the process.

I had to pick a random warrior from my already very small clan to be the new leader and wound up deciding on this random former kittypet (Rubyfeather) my cats had brought back during the second moon.

Luckily Rubystar did not face the same fate as her predecessor, and she lived for a very long time (as in, she lost 4 lives to old age and was still kicking for a while afterwards) before eventually losing her last life and leaving Fernclan to her second deputy (her first being Fuzzyclaw, who she outlived), Nacrefreeze/Nacrestar... who I specifically chose as deputy because he's bloodthirsty and I wanted to see what he would do

Things are going smoothly in Fernclan's first apprentices! Brazen`star's kits are apprentices now and she's given them each to a cat to help them grow!

FernClan’s History

Heeelllooo, my dear readers!

The blog is still pretty new, but I figured why not go over FernClan’s history - as well as territory, the camp itself, landmarks… etc.

For anyone who stumbles across this blog and has no idea what it’s about, the blog is dedicated to an alternate universe ft. Wordgirl x Warrior Cats! FernClan is the stand-in for Fair City, chosen as a pun on the city so it wouldn’t have to be FairClan wheeze- but anyway! I plan on breaking this down with the background of how the clan came to be, including all the other fun stuff!

So- for one thing, a group of cats escaped from a research facility and sought refuge within the forest in the hopes of not being found by the scientists. Things at first, were tense as they had no idea how to survive until one of the cats received a vision from StarClan - telling them they must form a clan in order to survive from the horrors ahead. FernClan became founded soon after, and eventually more cats began to join from all sorts of places (between wandering kittypets, strays, and more!), eager to experience clan life.

Though as the group continued expanding, trouble arose in the form of natural predators - not to mention unfriendly felines who would attempt to steal prey or cause problems by attacking the clan cats. Well, until a brave young cat by the name of Cometshine decided to boldly chase out the rogues and became the first savior great warrior of FernClan!

Though sometime after, seemingly without any explanation - Cometshine disappeared. No one knew what happened to him. Some claimed he might have found a mate, others believe he had other cats to help but it did shape FernClan’s history…

TERRITORY

FernClan is located deep within the forest, surrounded by wild flowers and thickets of berry bushes. At the center of the territory is a clear lake used for hunting. Prey is plentiful during the leaf-fall and new-leaf seasons, though it can quickly grow scarce during leaf-bare. The clan's known for having vines which the cats can used to hunt after birds, squirrels, and other critters living on tree branches. FernClan also has an old, abandoned playground which the apprentices frequent. It got remodeled a bit and the cats decided to add their own 'equipment' (which is meant to reference the episode "Tobey's Playground Calamity".

CAMP GROUNDS

FernClan's campgrounds are a little bit different. The leader's den is located just a bit away from the center of the camp; as it was once a wild critter's cave, the top is layered with moss and has a small array of flowers spreading around it. A canopy of moss falls from the top of the cave - almost like a curtain - clan meetings tend to be held around the leader's den. The medicine cat den however, is a smaller cave which was caused through moons and moons of erosion. The camp is filled with a lot of moss which is often used to make nests for the cats. The warriors' den is located closer to the entrance, made from a large opening which gets longer as once gets inside since cats dug in order to create more space. A small, seeable hole can be seen from the top. The apprentices' den strongly resembles a burrow and the nests are of course, made of moss - cushioned by other accessories found within the territory. FernClan's camp is known to be fairly big in order to accommodate for unexpected, new arrivals though it's been a while since new visitors arrived within the clan.

PREDATOR AND PREY

As FernClan is located deep in the forest, prey consists largely of mice, rabbits, rodents, and birds. Though there are also squirrels during leaf-fall and new-leaf which are a bit harder to reach during times of leaf-bare. Reptiles can be found closer to the lake, primarily consisting of lizards and snakes which can make for a good, tasty snack. Since FernClan's members have been known to be adapted with climbing, they have also been known to snag prey within the trees.

Unfortunately, FernClan does have predators which largely consists of foxes and the occasional badgers. Dogs are a rather uncommon threat though further within the territory, there are wolves which means the cats must be careful when venturing deeper. Birds of Prey such as hawks are a problem though FernClan felines, as they come from different backgrounds, are known for striking them down.

OUTSKIRTS AND BORDERS

Beyond the clan territory, and well past the broken fence, there are other lands... though cats tend not to venture that far. On the other side of the fence is a barn where other cats might dwell. Past the barn and heading down a dirt path, there's a seemingly abandoned cabin though it still appears to be in roughly good condition. FernClan cats are highly advised not to go beyond the borders, mainly due to the rumors of reaching the city which slims the chances of making it back to the clan.

FernClan borders another clan though no one has seen the members of said place in ages. [INFORMATION REDACTED]

KNOWN LANDMARKS

Woodview Point: Woodview Point is a cliff which is part of the mountains past FernClan. Cats are advised to travel in groups instead of alone as the area can get steep. However, it has been used as a training ground for apprentices in order to better their climbing and hunting skills. Great Lake: The Great Lake is a body of water located within the clan's territory. Fish is plentiful within there and apprentices are often taken as a way of perfecting their hunting skills. Raven's Ledge: Raven's Mountains are the surrounding mountains located further into FernClan. While they are known for being a bit steep, cats are known to travel - especially when it comes to the medicine cats as there's another landmark which allows connections to the Starry Plains (a term referring to the bridge between the mortal plane - aka the clan and beyond - and StarClan).

There might be other landmarks but for now - this is the best I could come up with. More for FernClan will be revealed soon and there is intention of making an official discord roleplay server, though we'll breach that later. The Dark Feline Association will also be talked about in a separate post!

Lagoonclan's second neighbor, Fernclan, who have a baby for a leader. They are very traditional and seem to have some sort of inheritance system going on with the high ranks.

A few moons after the beginning of the clan, Duskpaw was old enough to be apprenticed. On her first outing as an apprentice, she got a little too close to the otter pups on the Fernclan side of the river and was attacked by their mother. Frozenpaw and Violetpaw jumped to their junior's defense, keeping the young apprentice from further harm and driving the otters back to the river.

on their return to the camp, Bravestar gave the elder two apprentices their warrior names, Violetwind and Frozencreek, making them the first new warriors of Fernclan

Other Clans- LaurelClan High Ranks

Wanted to introduce you to the leader, deputy, and healer of LaurelClan! This is the clan Amberstar, Coalnose, and Tinyleap came from when FernClan was founded.

They live in a different part of the forest, and are actually the closest clan to FernClan.

Anyway, time to introduce these three:

Dartstar- LaurelClan's current leader. She's very young, only on her 20th moon of living, but so far she has more than proven that she's fit to lead LaurelClan. Dartstar's loyalty to her clanmates is completely unwavering. She would do anything to protect her clan, even at the cost of her own nine lives. Additionally, she's very mature for her age and offers amazing advice to even the oldest of cats.

Tangleflit- LaurelClan's deputy. Some clan members often whisper that she may secretly be a dog. While most of the time Tangleflit has the best intentions, she has no sense of shame. She grooms herself in the middle of camp, takes the biggest pieces of prey for herself, and has been caught very openly flirting with outsiders. Despite this, she's incredibly smart. She always has the best solutions to any problem and despite her antics, has proven to have a heart of gold. She listens deeply to the problems of her clanmates, and tries to offer the best solution she can.

Sweetdapple- The medicine cat. Sweetdapple is old, and has been the healer of LaurelClan for many, many moons. While he's amazing at his job, he isn't the most warm cat to be around despite his prefix. He's here to work, not to make friends. He's not the biggest fan of kits, has never taken a mate, and refuses to take an apprentice until the day he dies. Cats wonder how he ended up this bitter and cold, and time will only tell if he'll ever reveal his reasons.

FernClan Navigation Page

Heeelllooo, my lovelies!

So this blog is dedicated to a crossover between Wordgirl x Warrior Cats of my own design. It was originally inspired off of this post and I decided to make my own, because I am an impulsive little kit. I'm going to break the navigation page into different sections and that way you can get an impression of how everything works!

To preface this, FernClan is meant to represent Fair City which currently does not technically have a leader (right now, the intention is it's the canon mayor-) but this will be covered again later. The clan is located deep within the forest in order to avoid being detected by "two-legs", the clan term for humans. Two warriors by the name of Foxspirit and Oakshade found an abandoned kit and her 'pet' ferret, deciding to raise her as their own. Deciding to give the little molly her own clan name, she became Flarekit. Eventually they came to have another kitten, this time a tomcat, but little did they know just how different their lives would become.

FernClan has seemingly been the only clan in the area though - who knows, there might be another. As for our resident villains, they're a rogue organization known as the Dark Felines Association (not the most creative, I know-) which live on the outskirts of clan territory. This is the rough overview of the background information, but now we get to the fun part.

FERNCLAN CATS PLOT

Flarepaw and her fellow clanmates, a group of apprentices, are now undergoing training to become warriors but of course - FernClan has always been full of surprise. Ever since she was a kit, Flarepaw was communicating with cats only she could see. They attempted to guide her, claiming she would be the "word of the clan". Whatever that meant.

Though as the apprentices continue their journey, the Dark Felines Association is looking to cause trouble...

well! i wasnt expecting this-

I wrote a little snippit for this that I'll put it under the cut, I'm so upset over them you have no idea

despite the war between Lucentclan and Fernclan being over, Newtstar decides that he, Pepperflare, and Violethope will go patrol the borders one last time before the sun goes down. They don't realize the scent of rain or the clouds forming in the distance, as they're crossing the beach, rain begins falling heavily and weighing down their pelts.

"Newtstar!" Pepperflare calls over the now howling wind, anxiety pricking in her paws as the rain brings back unwanted memories of Sablepaw being washed away in a flood four moons ago. "We should really go back to camp! I don't have a good feeling about this."

Newtstars ears flick in acknowledgement, "we need to be sure that Fernclan isn't up to anything. I won't lose anymore cats to those fox-hearts!" He argues back, claws digging into the sand as he thinks of their previous medicine cat, Rippleclaw.

"No sane cat will be out in this weather!" Pepperflare insists, "Especially Fernclan cats! They hate water!"

"I agree with Pepp-" Violethope begins, her meow quickly cut off by a deafening crash and flash of lightning. In the distance, the sound of trees cracking and breaking echo down the mountains.

All three clancats freeze, heads snapping to the horizon where they see a massive wave of water quickly making its way down the hill, rocks, trees, and other natural debris coming along with it. The clancats barely have time to process what was happening before the water reaches them and sweeps them off their paws and into the unforgiving ocean. Their lungs fill with freezing saltwater as they cry out for starclan to save them to no avail.

Newtstar is the first to open his eyes, the yellow a sharp contrast to the darkness around him. Stars now shine in his pelt, and reflect in his eyes as he takes in the vaguely familiar area. He had been here when he lost his first life protecting his clan from a dog the same moon Rippleclaw had been found dead on Fernclans border. It had been nice to see the tom again to be assured that he wouldn't be alone, their starclan guide, and Newtstars own kin, Shardfoam being there to keep him company.

He sits and sighs, watching the water drip from is glimmering pelt and dissappear into the stars beneath his paws. He couldn't help but feel as if he had let his clan down.

Pepperflare and Violethope join him soon, appearing with splashes of salt water and gasping breaths that didn't take any oxygen. The she-cats meet eyes for a moment, confused as they look towards their leader.

They realize the stars at the same time, dismay filling them. Quietly, they step forward to sit beside their leader in quiet mourning.

"I'm sorry it had to be this way," A familiar voice says, a cream tabby tom stepping into sight. Sympathy reflecting in his grey eyes as he looks at the warriors. Beside the medicine cat is a younger spotted gray apprentice, Sablepaw, who is looking at them with the same sympathetic look.

"Rippleclaw! Sablepaw!" Newstar cries, standing. "Whats going on? We can't actually be dead, right? What about my other seven lives?" The words tumble out of his mouth before he can stop them, needing answers. Beside him, Pepperflare tries to speak but just hacks up a mouthful of water. Violethope remains quiet.

Rippleclaw sighs, "Unfortunately there was no way for starclan to bring your body back, it was washed too far out to sea for it to be possible." He steps to the side, the area behind him now streching out into a vast area, stars littering ground. This was starclans hunting grounds. The medicine cat dips his head, tears in his eyes as his friends try to process their deaths, "Welcome to starclan, my friends. Here you can watch over and guide Lucentclan."

Down below the sky, Quailcall sits outside the medicine den, blue eyes watching the entrance of the camp. It's been far too long since the patrol had left, and the elder was starting to get a bad feeling. He looks up at the dark clouds as it stormed and shakes out his pelt before standing and turning to enter the den.

Sparkfire lays in a nest against the far wall, curled up tightly as she sleeps through the infection in her wounds. The she-cat twitches and whimpers in her sleep, shifting slightly. The tom silently makes his way to sit beside the nest, watching the slow rise and fall of Sparkfires back, half expecting it to stop at any moment.

Quailcall looks towards the entrance of the den once more, dread filling his belly. "Starclan help us." He says quietly before curling up close to the deputy and shuts his eyes in an attempt to sleep until the patrol returns.
