YOU BREAK IT, YOU BUY IT
Whumptober 2021 No. 23 - YOU BREAK IT, YOU BUY IT pursuit
Fandom: Dragon Age Inquisition POV Character: femme!Lavellan Whumpee: Lavellan
Warnings: chase, nightmares, death
Tumblr media
Lavellan is still tormented by her greatest fears: humans. Solas cannot bear to hear her suffer.
Read on AO3
She was running again. The world around her was darkness and green glow, the distant smell of blood and steel accompanying the shouts from behind her; shemlens splattered with the blood of her kin. She stumbled and tripped through the pitch of this unnatural world, pure adrenaline pushing her aching legs forward, past the twisted bodies of her clan, past the abominations of her Keeper and their First, desperately reaching for a light that only seemed to be moving further from her the closer she moved; remaining ever at arm's reach just past her fingertips.
She blinked, and she was running through stone streets with bright, extravagant houses looming over her. The shems behind were Orlesian now, faces obscured by masks save for their mouths twisted into sickening sharp-toothed grins as they brandished swords and crossbows in her direction. She tripped, stubbing her toe on an uneven cobble, and as she plummeted to the ground the sky rose around her.
Shivering, she pushed to her feet again. Snow? Was this Haven? No time to dwell on that, as over the horizon was a handful of Chantry members, tailed by blood mages and red templars. They carried the heads of her fellow Inquisition members. Panic gripped her chest; the knowledge of failure and the flickering image of the cursed future she'd seen with Dorian. She turned to run again, stumbling in the snow, blindly trying to escape...
Only to run headfirst into another figure. She struggled and fought against its hold, blind in panic for a long moment, but they held strong. Firm. Comforting? Familiar. "...Solas?"
Slowly, hesitantly, she looked up. There he was, gazing down at her with sympathetic eyes, his arms wrapped around her like he was physically shielding her from it all. It was only as she acknowledged him that he spoke, smiling in the way that never failed to melt her to a pulp. "An'eth, ma vehnan."
The air was warm, scented subtly with petrichor and burning spices; smells of home. Of familiarity and safety. The ground was still soft underfoot but now it felt spongey, like grass and soil. Miriel blinked, looking around. She was in a forest; the Dales? Wherever it was, it was a welcome change. "What happened?"
"I heard you calling in your sleep." The low rumble of Solas' voice was soothing against her ear as she rested her head gently against his chest. "I thought it best to join you. Your pain is remarkably difficult to ignore, fenorain."
"This is just a dream," she realised, her body immediately trembling with the revelation as the adrenaline left her and the fear and fatigue took over. Her legs gave out, and Solas carefully eased her to the ground; still holding her tightly as she dissolved into tears.
"They can't hurt you here," he murmured, "Ame ghilana vhenas, lathlan. Be safe from the world of the waking as long as you need. I will be there when you wake up."
And he was. When she finally opened her eyes, cheeks streaked with tears even here, he was sat at the foot of her bed; head bowed and hand resting on hers. He stirred, opening gentle grey-brown eyes to meet hers, and smiled.

You Have Chosen Nydha To Be Your Companion!
Hopping off @little-lightning-lavellan's idea to take a DA:I OC and turn them into a companion, may I present Banal'ras Nydha (from Hope Is a Fragile Thing) and her wiki page.
Tumblr media
General
Banal'ras Nydha looks human, although there is something that doesn't seem quite right about her. She has dark hair and skin and startlingly green eyes, and speaks with a low, raspy voice. It is often difficult to find her in a room. Nydha first appears, and is available to recruit, in the Temple of Sacred Ashes before attempting to close the Breach. She offers knowledge and combat tactics against demons. If dismissed, or never spoken to, she will then be spotted in Haven behind Solas's cabin. She will not be available to recruit at that time, although once the Inquisition is relocated to Skyhold, she will make an offer to travel with the Inquisitor. If dismissed again, she will become a non-interactive NPC in the Rotunda, usually found near the mural or atop the scaffolding. If she is never recruited, she will disappear from Skyhold after the final battle with Corypheus.
Nydha is not romanceable by any Inquisitor, but can engage in a relationship with Solas if a female Dalish Inquisitor has not done so. She is friendly and bonds well with most of the other party members, especially Cole, Dorian and, of course, Solas. She prefers diplomacy and tends towards mediation rather than confrontation. If a Dalish Inquisitor has romanced Solas, and has high approval, Nydha will offer comfort and sympathy upon termination of the relationship. If low approval, Nydha has nothing to say.
She has strong opinions on the plight of elves, slaves and mages. She is supportive of any measures that would improve the lives of them. Her early banter with Dorian revolves around debating Tevinter's practices and trying to get him to see a better way. She will also speak with Iron Bull about the shortcomings of the Qun, although never with the same level of disdain as Solas. While she never openly mocks the Chantry or Andrastianism, she isn't a strong supporter or believer and has no opinion on who becomes Divine.
Location
In Haven, Nydha can be found behind Solas's cabin, usually in the darkest corner. Once the Inquisition relocates to Skyhold, she can be found in either the Arcane Library or the Rotunda.
Approval
Nydha's approval level is based upon empathy. An Inquisitor who is helpful, respectful and curious will gain approval. Nydha has no opinion on quests such as Wicked Eyes, Wicked Hearts or the outcome of Here Lies the Abyss, but approves diplomatic resolutions to judgments. She will greatly approve allying with the Free Mages, and only slightly approve conscripting the Templars. Conscription of the Free Mages or allying with the Templars will result in full disapproval. She will greatly approve Iron Bull becoming Tal-Vashoth and keeping Cole as a spirit. Actions that are ruthless or cruel will lose approval.
A high approval Inquisitor will learn that Nydha was born in another world and 'crossed over' through the Veil when the Breach opened. She will tell the Inquisitor that her name was given to her as a gift from someone she met in the Fade. She does not, however, say that it is Solas (see below for unique Trespasser dialogue). She will say that her name means 'Shadow of Night', according to her translation. A Dalish Inquisitor can have special dialogue to recognize the name as being Elvish and can question how a human came to have it. Nydha will answer that it is because the native language of the Fade is Elvish, a remnant from when elves held all of Thedas before human arrival.
A low approval Inquisitor will not learn this part of her history and she will remain an enigma. If approval falls to zero, she will refuse to speak to the Inquisitor, although she does not leave and is still available as a companion.
Quests
Survivor In the Shadows – the quest for meeting Nydha initially at the Temple of Sacred Ashes. It begins upon speaking with her, and ends with either recruitment or dismissal.
From the Ashes – only available after either In Hushed Whispers or Champions of the Just, but before completion of In Your Heart Shall Burn, Nydha will ask the Herald to accompany her back to the Temple of Sacred Ashes to search for her few belongings. The Herald will find a journal, a bundle of unusual clothes and a single unmarked vial. Nydha will approve completing this quest.
A Better Form – Nydha will ask for help in stabilizing her corporeal body if Dagna is brought into the Inquisition. Resolution of this quest will involve having Dagna create a unique amulet that will act as a permanent grounding source, rather like a lightning rod. Components for this amulet are: 1 blank rune stone, 1 wisp essence, and either 5 dawnstone or 5 volcanic aurum (both imbue constitution bonuses). It will act as an Amulet of Power, granting Nydha an extra skill point. This is the only time such an ability will be available to her. This will also allow her to wear other amulets throughout the remainder of the game. She, and Solas, will greatly approve completing this quest.
Twice-Born – available during the Jaws of Hakkon DLC. Nydha, if in the party, will ask to speak with the Augur of Stone-Bear Hold once relations with the hold have been established. If she is not among the Inquisitor's party, she will be found in the main scout camp near Professor Kenric. What the two speak about will be unknown, but at the end of the quest, Nydha will inform the Inquisitor that she has been given the legend-mark Twice-Born from the hold's 'gods'. Cole will greatly approve completing this quest, regardless of whether or not he is in the party.
Note: This quest is not dependent upon approval, but is the only time she will speak with a zeroed out Inquisitor, should that level of low approval be reached.
Ability Tree/Specialization
Nydha is technically a rogue, and can utilize either a bow or double daggers. She has an autolevel preference for the Subterfuge tree, and has an additional, unique starting skill in Fade Cloak. This does not require further leveling to be active. It is the only skill that cannot be deactivated from her skillset.
She can specialize in either Tempest or Rift Mage, due to her nature as a being from the Fade. She is not otherwise a mage. Her decision on specialization can be influenced, as she will ask the Inquisitor's opinion. If no opinion is given, she will default to taking Tempest.
Combat comments
“Come get some!”
“Catch me if you can!”
(If specialized in Tempest) “Burn, baby, burn.”
(If specialized in Rift Mage) “Ooh, the stuff of nightmares.”
Kills an enemy
“Another one bites the dust.”
“Cool story, bro.”
“Then perish.”
Low Health
“This was not on my agenda today.”
“A little help?”
Low Health (Companions)
For all general companions: “I have your back.”
If in a romance with Solas: “Take a breather, fenorain.”
Fallen Companions
For all general companions: “I'll make them pay!”
If in a romance with Solas: “NO!”
Location Comments
Ferelden:
Hinterlands: “Why is it so big? Why is everything so big?”
Fallow Mire: “I have mud in unmentionable places. Can we go now?”
Storm Coast: “I must go down to the sea again, to the lonely sea and sky.”
If companions question her: “It's just from a poem I once read.”
Orlais:
Exalted Plains: “So much death. Can't you feel it?”
Emerald Graves: “This forest is old. Very old.” [laughs] “I always wanted to say that in proper context.”
Emprise du Lion: “Stay away from the bloody lyrium. And wear a hat.”
At Suledin Keep after Imshael, if Solas is in the party: “Ir abelas, lethallin.” (If romanced) Ir abelas, fenorain.”
Solas's reply (only translated if the Inquisitor is Dalish): “Ma serannas. Ea lam'an.” (It is in the past)
At the Pools of the Sun, regarding the trio of dragons: “Can't we just leave them alone? They really won't hurt anyone if we keep our distance.”
Hissing Waste: “You know, if you ignore the endless vista of sand, it's really quite beautiful. In a bleak kind of way.”
Western Approach: “Hot. Hot and blighted. I need a drink.”
Forbidden Oasis, upon reaching the second camp: “That's it, I'm never leaving.”
Arbor Wilds: “Mind your footing. This place is full of secrets.”
In Val Royeaux: “Pretty place.”
Frostback Basin: “I could stay here forever. Even with the varmints.”
The Descent: “Nice and dark, just the way I like it.”
At the Wellspring: “Wow...that's amazing.”
Trespasser: “Now it all ends, my friend.”
If the Inquisitor questions the statement: “You'll see soon enough.”
Companion/Advisor comments
Varric – Gotta watch out for Spooky, there's something about her I can't put my finger on.
Cassandra – She is an able fighter, but I would not trust her out of my sight, which is far too often.
Solas – She is secretive by nature, but I would assure you that she means no harm.
Iron Bull – She's a tricky one. Good fighter, lotta secrets. Good at keeping them too. I don't think I've cracked a single one that she didn't tell me herself.
Dorian – She's fascinating. I am not at liberty to say why, of course, if you don't already know.
Cole – Bright as the sun and scattered as the stars. She wants to help, just like I do.
Vivienne – She seems capable enough, my dear. But I would not dare to trust her. She is an accomplished player of the Game, for all her smiles and good cheer.
Sera – She's as bad as Creepy, although she's better at jokes. She's better at hiding than I am!
Blackwall – She knows something. She knows too many somethings.
Josephine – She keeps to herself and has caused no diplomatic incidents. I wish I could say the same for some of the others gathered here.
Leliana – I find it curious that I cannot find any solid evidence of her existence before the Conclave, but that does not automatically mark her a spy. However, her nature makes me no more inclined to trust her. I would be wary of her.
Cullen – Who? Oh, the...shadowy...person. I hear she can handle herself. I can't say I've spoken with her, so I don't have an opinion.
Trespasser
There is a unique dialogue tree available to the Inquisitor while speaking with Solas if Nydha was recruited as a companion.
“Did you know about Nydha?”
“Yes, I am the one who gave her her name. I found her while I yet slept, and she became corporeal after the Breach.”
(First branch) “Is she one of your agents?”
“No. She has only ever been my friend.”
(Special, if not romanced) “Your friend? It seemed to be more than that.”
“In another world, perhaps.”
(Second branch) “Is she joining you?”
“No, I would not wish her on this path.”
(Third branch) “She knew this whole time. Why didn't she tell me?”
“She had her reasons for not telling you. (If high approval) I hope you will not hold them against her.”
Regardless of approval, Nydha disappears after the Exalted Council. She settles in the Frostback Basin among the Avvar. A high approval Inquisitor will receive correspondence from her from time to time, but she will refuse to come back to the 'civilized' nations of Thedas, preferring privacy and isolation.
Trivia
If in the party during Here Lies the Abyss, the Nightmare demon will speak to her in Elvish. Her reply is a scoff and nothing else.
Nydha can be a third option at the Vir'Abelasan if she is in the party. If she is chosen to drink from the Well, Abelas does not object, although he will still point out that she will be bound as they are. If Nydha drinks, she will summon Flemeth and work with the Inquisitor to tame the dragon for the final confrontation with Corypheus. If she is in the party during Trespasser, she will be able to provide the password to the spirit guards, preventing a fight.
If Morrigan is allowed to attack Abelas, she will attempt to defend him and will argue that the witch is not worthy of the knowledge she seeks if brutality is her only way to get it. If there is a peaceful alliance with the Sentinels and Morrigan is chosen to drink, Nydha will slightly disapprove but hold her tongue on the matter.
If the Inquisitor drank from the Well, and succeeds in finding enough clues to determine that Solas is Fen'Harel, Nydha will appear saddened when the Inquisitor rebuts to the Viddasala that they already know. She will state that this was what she'd been waiting for. The Inquisitor will have the option to accuse her of knowing the whole time. She will answer yes, but she won't explain.
If Nydha is never recruited, and remains an NPC in the Rotunda, one will hear her occasionally speak with Solas. These conversations range in topic from books they are reading to the mural. Never about Inquisition business. There is a slight chance to hear them speaking in Elvish, and their words are not translated, regardless of Inquisitor's race. Solas's replies appear to be noncommittal.
Nydha will remark upon the Inquisitor's romantic choices, usually with something supportive and a hope that they are happy together. She will also comment something generally pleasant about each companion if asked. The exception to this is if Iron Bull remains Ben-Hassrath. Nydha will caution the Inquisitor to be careful of telling him too much since his loyalty is now unknown.
It can be implied from various interactions and from high approval conversation that Nydha was in fact aware of everything that would happen during the course of the game. She never gives a reason for keeping her silence on matters pertaining to what foreknowledge she had, although any input given during the game events is sound and often given in such a way so as not to risk suspicion.
It can also be implied that regardless of what Solas says during Trespasser, Nydha has actually left the Inquisition to join his ranks, or at least does not stand opposed to him. This is not confirmed, however, and according to her epilogue card, she is enjoying a quiet life in the Frostback Basin with no intention of ever interfering with Thedosian politics or events again.

Fenorain Surana is my canon warden.
She came to the Chantry/Circle young enough that she doesn't really remember her family. Though, she believes her parents may have been Dalish because of faint memories of green sails and her name. When asked, she said she was called da'fenorain, which simply means 'little darling'. However, the scribe assumed the diminutive was a stutter, and recorded her name as Fenorain.
She knows they aren't accurate, but her facial tattoos were a way to try to keep a connection to her stolen heritage.
Mor'Dharlin is her most faithful companion (thank you, Extra Dog Slot mod), though Zevran stole her heart... eventually. His lighthearted facade didn’t go over well at first.
Everyone recruited. Everyone lives! (including in DLCs 😄)

Herald’s rest. what a name to this bar. it didn’t bring any rest to Adam however, he sighed and sipped the ale, wanting to get more drunk since ti tasted too mild. he got up and swayed a bit, almost fell over and stumbled upon this small elf and after getting his gaze focused on her, he smiled a bit.
Tumblr media
“I am truly sorry, my lady…Adam at your service, should you require something form me” He said smoothly as ever because being drunk made his tongue loose, but that was not the way he was sober.
Ny’Ari placed her hands on his chest to steady the tall man. Someone had been enjoying their liquor early. Once the man was righted, she nodded towards him.
“It happens to the best of us, serrah. We have all been in the same situation.” She patted his shoulder, moving towards the bar. Her hand raised to wave excitedly at Oghren. “Fenorain, Can I have the Dalish whiskey tonight? It has been a rough day.”
Tumblr media
She turned towards Adam as the stone-child went to grab her the bottle and a cup. Reaching out her hand. “I plan on getting in that same situation tonight. Care to join me?”

When one person has to be courageous for two, it takes its toll.
Ambrós & Reva Lavellan OTP: Fall Back in Love Eventually
❛ I want to be comforted. I’m so tired of being strong. ❜
“I know.” Arms tremble as they weakly set around the bigger elf. Nothing was going the way they wanted, Ambrós wasn’t getting better, and Reva’s resolve in turn was wavering. It was hopeless, as one could think.
Nestled close in the nest of blankets and pillows they kept stashed on the floor above their bed, Ambrós allowed Reva to carry him up there so they could hide from invisible prying eyes. The world seemed smaller, safer, when they were in their nest. Legs furl into Reva’s lap as the taller elf moved his arms to rest around Amb’s middle, burying his face into his shoulder. Ambrós tried his best, fingers entwining weakly over the other’s as he leaned his head back to press his cheek against Reva’s.
'You’re going to be okay, fenorain.’                                                              ‘I don’t feel it, lathuil.’
Old conversations delivered in hushed whispers, a greying memory for the redhead as he meekly squeezed against Reva’s palm.
"We’re going to be okay, lathuil.“          “I don’t think so, fenorain.”
A muffled sniffle against the back of his shirt, Ambrós closed his eyes for a moment. If he could, he would have wished all their problems away. In an ideal world, they’d have solved everything. But this wasn’t an ideal world. It was far from ideal for anyone.
Exhaling with a bit of a wheeze, Amb pulled Reva’s hands off his stomach and crawled onto his knees. Straddling his thighs, lithe arms coiled around broad shoulders as he let Reva hide his face in the crook of his neck. He clung to him, fingers gripping against his shirt, fists tight on his back, afraid to let the smaller elf disappear on him. Nothing else felt real or right anymore except Ambrós. And even then, how much longer was he for this world? Every day he waned in energy, taking all he had to even sit up. If he was gone, Reva wasn’t sure what else he could do.
This whole world was against him some days.
                                          "We’ll be okay, I promise.“

31 Days of Dragon Age
Oct 01 - Introduce your Hero of Ferelden
Fenorain “Surana”
Spirit Healer/Arcane Warrior Mage Age: 18-19
Tumblr media
'Tis long so, have a cut.
Fenorain came to the Chantry/Circle young enough that she doesn’t really remember her family. She came into her magic early & was kidnapped from her clan to the Circle. She believes her parents were Dalish because of faint memories of green sails and her name. When asked, she said she was called da’fenorain, which simply means ‘little darling’. However, the scribe assumed the diminutive was a stutter, and recorded her name as Fenorain. Her tattoos aren’t vallaslin, but she honestly never thought she’d see the outside world again and they were her small defiance against the Chantry and best attempt from vague memories.
At the time of her Harrowing, and recruitment by Duncan, Fenorain was somewhere around 18 years of age.
Tumblr media
She fed the prisoner and healed the Mabari hound. Her dog’s name is Mor'dharlin, or big puppy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In Lothering, she freed Sten from his cage, recruited him, and later returned his sword to him. She spoke to everyone and completed every task asked of her. Leliana was recruited and later softened/not hardened ((fat lot of good that did anyone. Thanks for nothin’ Justinia)).
After Lothering, they were ambushed by the Crows ((thank you mods)), on the way to Denerim to see if we could deal with Loghain, which obviously didn’t work, but found out about Genitivi & headed to find him, since we knew the Arl was sick, thanks to the knight in Lothering, and he wouldn’t be much help in that state. Recruited Zevran.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She took care of a couple of chanter board things that were on the path, got the ashes, & found out Redcliffe was under siege.
Helped Redcliffe fight and saved the village of Redcliff from zombies. Saved a little boy and returned his sword. Bella got ownership of the Tavern.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After helping the blacksmith’s daughter escape the keep, found all the good stuff happening up there. Let my good friend, Jowan, atone for poisoning the Arl by killing his wife to save his son. 😘 ((I mean if Isolde hadn’t been trying to hide Connor’s magic, Jowan may have found another way into Redcliffe, but she handed it to him on a platter. So, the Ali exiling, Jowan enabling, tart got to sacrifice herself for the greater good. i.e. me not having to go to the Circle before the Brecilian elves & the arcane warrior lesson.))
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Speaking of, Fenorain brokered peace between the werewolves and the Elves, by convincing Zathrian to lift the curse, after saving a halla, bringing a couple together, sharing sad news betwixt another couple, and bringing an unconscious elf and some ironbark back to the camp.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She sided with the mages in the tower, of course. Irving lived. Recruited Wynne.
Zevran stole her heart… eventually. His lighthearted façade didn’t go over well at first.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Acquired Flemeth’s grimoire peacefully & lied to Morrigan about it, then went to retrieve some things from Ostagar and ran across a golem in Honleath on the way. Shale was recruited and the townsfolk were freed from the cellar, with no one possessed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But we still needed the dwarves to help with the Blight so… off to Orzammar, stopping at this old Warden Keep on the way. Killed a possessed warden but let a questionable one continue with some research as long as he kept it ethical. She also gained a new power by drinking yet another odd concoction.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Beneath the Stone, Fenorain reunited one family, but separated another by helping Dagna to the Circle, and passed on news of a heroic death to a grieving mother. She helped Orta join the assembly and Burkel to create a Chantry. She passed a little lyrium through but also helped the Shaperate by returning a tome and proving the Legion of the Dead was connected to a noble house.
After learning the truth of female warden’s ends in the Deep Roads ((*shudders at broodmothers*)) and defeating Branka, Caridin created a crown, and then he and the Anvil of the Void were destroyed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fenorain placed the crown on the head of the hereditary heir, Bhelen Aeducan, secured the dwarves’ assistance, and recruited Oghren.
Everyone headed back to Denerim to finally deal with Loghain. Fenorain reunited Alistair with his sister, Goldanna, after forcing him to agree to co-rule with Anora and executing her father. Also took care of a bunch of other stuff while in town, including cleaning out a possessed orphanage, running a slaver out of town, dealing with Leliana’s stuff, and others.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shortly before the battle of Denerim, Alistair was convinced to perform a ritual with Morrigan, which allowed Fenorain to slay the Archdemon and survive.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alistair and Anora awarded the Wardens Amaranthine Arling, which Fenorain, as Warden Commander, took great care of. She recruited the former Arl’s son and put in many upgrades to the Keep, saving both the Keep and the City from being overrun by the Mother’s forces, though Fenorain killed the Architect too.
Tumblr media
Fenorain later hears tale of a companion thought lost and hunts her down only to let her go again, still on friendly terms, but with a little more closure.

Figured out that my DLCs weren't working right... fixed that, so I could grab Shale before heading to Orzammar, but that meant... The Wardens Were Returning To Ostagar... first. *snort*
I did manage to get the crew through the doors last night though.

WIP Wednesday
All right, I’ll hop on @luzial‘s open invite, since I actually managed to get the braincells working in concert and did the thing with the words today.
In turn I will pay this forward as an open invite to anyone who has something they’d like to share.  Yes, I mean you.
No promises on when this will ever be published in full, but at least the ideas are percolating again, so that’s good.  It’s an almost threesome a bit lemony, so I’ll put it under a cut.
She leaned her cheek on the rock pillar and tried to calm her racing heart.  It was always so good, even when it was over so fast.  Her body decided it wasn't enough, however, and she yearned to turn around and start all over again.  The discreet clearing of a familiar throat brought her attention back to their surroundings and she peeked over her shoulder to see Solas's mild gaze on them.
“The Seeker was becoming concerned.”
“We haven't even been gone that long,” Kiri said.
Solas raised an eyebrow.  “And you are not far from camp, either.”  He transferred his gaze to Felassan.  “Discretion, my friend.”
“Ahh, well, can you blame me?”  Felassan gestured to her, and she knew she must look a sight, half ravished and sweating.  A gleam entered Solas's placid stare, one that promised more than words alone could deliver.
“Perhaps not. The fact remains...”
“Yes, yes,” Felassan continued, tucking himself back into his pants and tugging the laces.  “Fine.  I will hunt, vhenan.  You...”
“I'll clean up.”
She watched the two elves share a silent look before Felassan vanished into the trees. Solas approached her with his hands behind his back, the strain in his shoulders visible through his sweater.  She hitched up her trousers with a frown, realizing she was a mess and knowing she'd have to deal with it until the tents were set up and she could change.  The gleam was still in Solas's eyes as he watched her.
“Don't start,” she warned.
“I had not planned to.  Finish, perhaps.”
A ripple of shock went through her, as always, when he allowed his earthier side to show.  “You dirty old man.  Am I not thoroughly debauched enough for your liking?”
“Not thoroughly, no.”
She shook her head. “Why doesn't anyone tell you that ancient elves are horny as fuck?”
He smirked and stepped closer still.  “When one is immortal, there is little else to do.”
“I doubt that very highly, Fen'Harel.”
His smirk grew wider and darker and she shivered pleasantly under it.  His silver gray eyes didn't miss it, but he made no move to touch her.  She knew he was doing it deliberately.  Riling her up with his presence alone, making her beg for it.  It was an intentional tactic, and one of his favorites.  But she understood the power struggle beneath it too.  It always had to be her choice, her consent freely given.
“How long will it take to make you bend, Solas?”
“I'm sorry?”
“Until you admit that you have wants of your own that you're allowed to fulfill?”
His lopsided smirk turned sly.  “I have already admitted them, fenorain.  It is getting you to admit them that is the game.”
