Someone was shot to death in the middle of the street in broad daylight. That's going to result in a murder 1 charge if you get caught.

That's not how it works in New York, in New York Murder 1 is reserved for assassination of government officials and government employees on duty. BT was neither, it was between two civilians. That's why when he was charged with it, when mainstream media who have been very anti him were also like ?????? because it makes the case harder to prosecute, legally without going into health insurance and their ties to the government and how that allegedly plays into all it instead of letting it be just a Murder 2 ( which it was according to New York laws )

About the rest, it's a valid concern but I don't think it takes away from the justice system, if people weren't invested, they wouldn't be paying attention to it.

People are now noticing, if Luigi, who for all intents and purposes can afford to pay out of pocket still isn't being accommodated for his health issues which will result in all of them getting worse, still doesn't have access to pain medications , still on the receiving end of police brutality it's a reflection on the system. And it's worse on more marginalised people and people have been talking about everything.

I've personally seen posts, asking around and receiving tips on how to help other inmates in their local prisons.

I do get the gripe with making Luigi specifically out to be this Messiah ( which I would argue is making it worse for him since he is pleading not guilty and they don't seem to have any evidence against him that's not circumstantial) but that was always gonna happen and is happening across social medias because of the state of healthcare system in US. Humans are gonna be humans.

I don't live in New York so I'm not familiar with the intricacies of New York law. @femalegothic pointed out that it's common for prosecutors to add extraneous or excessive charges for the purpose of negotiating a plea deal. There are a lot of ethical concerns about this practice but it's not unusual. It's also unremarkable that he's pleading not guilty at this stage. That does not mean he won't take a plea bargain; his lawyer will advise him about his options and he'll make a decision. I haven't followed the case that closely but I'm not sure I agree all the evidence is circumstantial.

When I say Messiah I mean I am actually worried that people are beginning to see him as a Messiah figure, not merely Messiah-like. I don't think that's because of the state of the healthcare system. This kind of thing happens with a lot of high profile murder suspects and murderers.

I'm not sure what you're trying to convince me of here, exactly. I'm glad to hear people are trying to help inmates. I was just musing about the irony that people feel so strongly about the last murder suspect I'm particularly worried about. His legal team will do their jobs.
