There is never a price to pay for peace when you are amidst nature. That is a type of power that will always remain inexplicable.

Planning to do solo travel for the first time ever for my birthday this year! Likely taking the trip in (late) July/early August
Some info in case it helps:
Japan - I've been here thrice with family (once in Tokyo; twice in Osaka/bit of Kyoto)
South Korea - I've never been yet!! I like kpop and korean food though
Explanations for your votes would be appreciated too 🫶

do you have any tips or advice for someone who really wants to try solo traveling but is terrified of actually doing it? what pushed you to do that?
as someone who has anxiety I'll admit it's not that easy traveling solo, especially taking the first steps of booking flights and accommodations but as stressful as it might get, I've never regretted it once and obviously the more you do it, the easier it gets. what pushed me to start doing that was mostly me being fed up with having to wait and rely on others for travelling and at one point I realized I wanted to travel more than having company. I missed so many opportunities because of that but pushing yourself out of your comfort zone and realizing you can actually do it, it's honestly the best feeling ever.
I'm not a pro and I've only travelled solo a handful of times but:
choose the right place to travel to: ask people for recommendations, read articles/blogs/forums/reviews, join groups for solo travelers on fb if you have that and ask for opinions there and mostly do !! your !! research !! never travel anywhere without being informed about the place first
start with staying away for a weekend only at first and choose somewhere close to home and where you know the language and let that help build up your confidence to eventually go farther and for longer
stay at hostels: I know hostels aren't for everyone but they're the best place if you don't want to feel completely alone and also for making new friends from all around the world. 90% of people there are solo travelers too and that makes making connection way easier. also most hotels have same sex and small rooms too so you don't necessarily have to share with many strangers of all sexes
The usual safety stuff: be careful on public transports, use uber rather than local taxis, be careful of pickpockets and thieves, don't travel with valuable stuff, be aware of your surroundings and stay vigilant, send people at home your itinerary, don't go out alone at night, get one of those lanyard phone cases, keep your documents and money hidden well in your bag, get one of those anti theft backpack if you can, never say you're traveling alone when there, never share your exact location on social medias or your personal info with strangers, save all the local emergency numbers on your phone, travel with more than one card and have cash too, make copies of your documents and keep them separated
I really hope this helps and that you'll find the confidence to try it at least once in your life if you really want to do it!

How to travel Solo?
What is Solo Travel? It’s definition is: solo travel means the tourist going somewhere else alone and during their trip, they choose and decide everything like activities, places to visit, services and so on. It means that you, aka the solo traveller, calls the shots. It’s complete freedom what to do and when. This is great and empowering, but it can be “scary” for someone who never tried it.…

" sur le fil " (which I can translate to 'walking on the crest line') is a collection of the notes I took every day in my journal while crossing the Pyrenees, at the French-Spanish border, in the summer of 2021.
Before I started the trek, I was riddled with fear. Because I was hiking as a solo woman, but also as someone who had recently been diagnosed with a bipolar disorder.
When I was involuntarily committed to a psychiatric hospital, doctors were adamant that I should forget about adventures and travels. I needed to prove to myself that I could do it, to break the walls of the box they put me in. When I got out of the hospital, I found solace in reading about people with mental health issues who do travel.
I hope my story will resonate with everyone who wants to go on an adventure.
The text in English is available as a PDF, before sharing I’d love for a native speaker to check for spelling/grammar mistakes !

has anybody else thought about how jk could easily manage sofia's parts of slow dance or is it just me?
Tumblr media
#jikook#bts#everybody is working to insert jk in who where i just don't see it (other than the seven parallels)#and not talking much about what i see as WAY more obvious nods most especially in rebirth#like jm sings about wanting to be worthy of someone - maybe someone who just became a huge SOLO global popstar?#and mentions 'real love' - what was the name of that chapter in the bangtan book again?#and the feminine pronouns not present it's just the nebulous 'you' that in jimin songs often stands in for 'army'#(and one very specific 'fan' who has said he is ALSO army)#it's the 'i wanna be with you'#the answer for jk's 'i am still' with its unspoken additional 'still with you' layer#and then we get slow dance and we're back to the nebulous 'you' - on an island he-#oh wait what was that about a pair that traveled to an island? and filmed some stuff there that we'll see soon? hm#the reason this set me off though is the lines about 'cancelling my plans' to live to 'the tempo of our favorite song'#the falling deep into lines etc etc#because we know what happens when those two get together - they lose track of time everything else fades away#it's why they haven't done lives. why 'you and me' are 'up all night' why jm knows that as soon as jk is around#his self-discipline will crack and he'll fall into the pattern he tried to head off by separating from jk while making face#and we *know* jimin wrote on this song#frankly if he *hadn't* gotten a female feature everybody would be JUMPING on this song as a jikook anthem#the inclusion of sofia works perfectly - like hammering the pin back in a grenade#but i was reading those lines and thinking how high she went and going who else could sing this ...?#huh. who do we know of who can sing *anything*? and who has a range that can hit and blend with jimin's perfectly?#so. i dunno. y'all do your delulu the way that works for you and i will do my delulu my way lol#personally i think the eyes in the mv look like a screenshot from the love wins all mv but that's only me#i think the parallels with seven work more#and speaking of parallels (there are so many) i think this album was built to ensure jm is on equal footing with a certain someone#it's the commerciality of it - as though jm was like we will be together in this as well#when he seems not to be super interested in global domination but still 'special' enough to be on the same level with his love

Where to solo trip in Europe for a newbie?
My first solo trip was to Porto 🇵🇹, it’s very picturesque, affordable and walkable. Also, you can easily take train down to Lisbon, and the cost (where weather is warmer). Portugal is beautiful country, I’ve been there 3 times and every time I love it! Other recommendation is Budapest 🇭🇺 or Poland (Gdansk, Krakow) – beautiful cities, loads of sightseeing spots and impressive architecture .
