imagine if one of readers friends had a sibling and treated the friends sibling more like a sibling than any of the batfam ?? how would they react
it could be adriens twin brother felix wink wink nudge nudge
-🍰
NOT FELIX. i’ll be using Caitlyn’s older brother (from chapter 4) as the example ☺️
imagine reader in her petty era trying to avoid all conversations/confrontations with the batfam (especially dick—idk why im bullying him at this point—who’s trying to reach out to you and bridge the gap between you two that seemed to have grown bigger due to a particular incident(s) that happened will be explained more in depth in chapter 5 )
like imagine:
Dick: (calling out to you after spotting you along the hallways of Wayne Manor) Hey, (Name)! Do you want to—
regressed!reader: (cutting him off, speedwalking past) Sorry, can’t talk. I’m late to meet up with Caitlyn and our brother.
Dick: (blinking, turning to follow your retreating figure) Our brother? Wait, what? Who—?
regressed!reader: (already out the door)
Dick: (to himself, utterly perplexed) ‘Our’ brother?? What is going on?
Tumblr media
regressed!reader: (stretching, checking the time) Wow, it’s late. I should head back before Alfie nags at me for staying out.
Jason: (shrugging, reaching for his keys) Yeah, I’m not letting you walk back to the manor at this hour. I’ll give you a—
regressed!reader: (cutting him off, excitedly) Oh, great! My bro’s here to pick me up! See you never, hopefully!
Jason: (stunned) Wait, what? Your—? (watches you jog up to some random guy on a motorcycle, who hands you a helmet before the two of you ride off.)
Jason: (to himself, bewildered) Who the hell… Did the old man adopt another kid again?
Tumblr media
Tim: (walking up, holding some tools) Hey, I remembered you needed help fixing a gadget of yours, so—
regressed!reader: (cutting him off, smirking) I got it. My bro helped me fix it up.
Tim: (pausing) …Dick?
regressed!reader: No.
Tim: (frowning) Jason?
regressed!reader: Pfft, no.
Tim: Damian??
regressed!reader: Seriously?
Tim: (utterly flabbergasted) “What other brothers do we even have??”
regressed!reader: (walking off with the smuggest grin imaginable, answering a phone call) Hey, bro! Yeah, thanks for helping me fix that gadget of mine!
Tim: (standing there, staring after you, completely baffled)
LOL i need to do this with the other batfam members 😭

adrien with a younger sister
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: adrien agreste x fem!reader
tags: wholesome fluff, platonic, protective brother!adrien (from chloe & lila), gabriel is a bad father, best friends & siblings
Tumblr media
gabriel wanted a boy and a girl as children, so each of them had their own purpose and could model different clothes for him
meanwhile, emelie wanted a boy and a girl, to have a complete family – a mother, a father, a daughter and a son!
adrien was born first, while you were born around two years later, making adrien your older brother
adrien and you were best friends as children, though that also had to do with the fact that you only had each other as friends
occasionally, you spent time with chloe, felix and other kids of rich parents, but you always got along best with each other!
adrien was always a protective older brother, making sure nobody made fun of you and made sure you were included in all activities!
when you two grew older, you got to see chloe, felix and co. less and less, making you two grow even closer
you two trusted each other with all of your secrets and were always there to support each other
some days, adrien had to model for gabriel, while you got to sneak out of the house to go shopping
other days, you had to model for your father, while adrien snuck out of the house and watched movies in the nearby cinema!
adrien would always tell you about the movies afterwards, while you always brought him snacks and such along from your shopping trips!
when the two of you were finally allowed to go to school, adrien grew more protective of you
he always made sure you were invited too, when marinette, alya and nino asked him to hang out after school
and if someone like chloe or lila invited him – and only him – he always declined, since he didn't want to befriend people who didn't like his little sister!

This might be my first real like, original thought. Like, this may be entirely new to tumblr. IDK. idk if anyone else in the miraculous ladybug fandom on here has ever put any thought into it. if they have i NEED to see it. I was thinking about which characters would and wouldn't shave their armpits, and I think I have a faairly comprehensive list? Marinette: No. She doesn't have the time, and does not care enough to. Adrien: I fear he may be contractually obligated to. Perhaps S6+ he won't because oops his dad is dead, but he CERTAINLY has to s1-s5. Alya: She does, but she isn't super picky about it. She just shaves when she feels like it. Nino: He wouldn't even think to shave his armpits. Kagami: She does. Probably on scheduled days in the week. Felix: He could go either way, I fear. If he does, it's probably only when he's gearing up for some sort of theatre thing. Luka: He doesn't, and goes out of his way to make it clear that he doesn't care if anyone does or does not. Juleka: She doesn't, but used to pretty religiously when it started growing out. Rose: She does, but only for special occasions. Alix: If someone told her to shave her armpits, she'd get PISSED! I imagine her older brother teases her about it enough at home. (She doesn't shave her armpits as a STATEMENT. And because she is lazy.) Max: no.... Kim: oK SO. Here's the thing. He's a swimmer, and swimmers tend to shave for like, swimming reasons (??) but he's also the most dudebro person I've ever seen, and I feel like he'd think that shaving was gay (and that it was a bad thing). lmk what you think. Marc: Yes, but it really depends on how they're feeling that week. Nathaniel: No, but it's more of a sensory thing than anything else. Ivan: Ivan trims his armpit hair when it gets too long, but doesn't shave it. Mylene: No, she doesn't really like using disposable razors and environmentally friendly shaving creams/soaps are more expensive.. Sabrina: Yes, and it's fairly regularly maintained. Chloe: She's a little obsessive about her whole routine in my head, so she is VERY on top of shaving her armpits. Zoe: She did, but upon coming to France, she mostly stopped. When her mom comes to visit, on those ever rare occasions, she picks it back up. Lila: Yes, because of ~presentation~ BONUS ROUND: Fu: I don't know why anyone would think he would. Natalie: Yes. Now that she's an assistant to a millionaire and in her 40s at least, I imagine that's kinda protocol. Gabriel: LOL. no <3
if anyone has anything else, PLEASE post them. idk. this may be too out there even for me.

Need Some Help with Miraculous Rewrite
Ok, so, spoilers for the future Miraculous rewrite, though probably not that surprising giving my preference and what I've talked about before. And I don't think it's going to spoil that much of the rewrite, so I think it's going to be ok for me to roll out this post and get some help.
Thinking on the Miraculous Rewrite, working on the timeline and future ideas, one thing I am torn on is on the secondary lead.
Probably unsurprisingly, it's going to be kwami swaps. There will be a few canon matches that do happen, either as they work or narrative wise need to stay, but a majority will be Miraculous with different people.
Marinette for sure will have the Cat. Partly because her and Plagg are going to be so fun to write, and it's one of my favorite kwami swaps for her; but mostly I do think it's going to offer her the most growth and it's going to be different to explore the different guidance Plagg can offer Marinette and how they work off each other. Even more so as, Plagg is THE foil to Marinette in terms of who he is, and both can play a part in how either grow.
Now the issue I've been struggling with is who is the Ladybug going to go to.
For this, working off Emilie and Amelie, Felix and Adrien are twin brothers, with Felix being older of the two, and is going to primarily work off his PV self (and how I perceived him). Adrien in turn will primarily work off his s1 characterization (that want for friends and being a little more sociable, a willingness to openly rebel and resist against his father, and being torn between what's right vs what he wants). Also neither of them (or Kagami) are sentimonsters. There are no feather babies here.
Now, my struggle is which Agreste should get the Ladybug, as both have their own pros and cons.
Felix would work off his old PV set up, from reluctant to be a hero to coming to embrace the role. And you got someone who's skeptical and pessimistic paired with a kwami who is optimistic and bubbly. Which can set up Tikki to be Felix's primary foil, and both can grow in how they work off each other. Potential cons, it would be a more clashing pair, which can have some comedic potential, but I can also see a lot of tension. And hero partnership wise, it won't be an immediate, easy click. It will become a solid partnership and an effective team, it's just going to have a rougher start with Felix's reluctance to be there, and Marinette will pick up on that quiet frustration even if he hides it. I also will say, I am going to explore that bad luck curse concept, only it's from Tikki forcing a spiteful Felix to get out there. So this is going to be a tenser start with a more flawed lead.
Adrien I would work off what I thought his initial arc and set up was going to be, with Adrien starting out treating the Miraculous for freedom and fun, but gradually getting more serious as a hero. In contrast to Felix, it'd be a more pleasant start over all, Adrien easily clicks with his partner and they become fast friends and work off each other well, and he clicks with Tikki quickly and easily. Even more so as Tikki fills the void his mom left, being affectionate and supportive of Adrien, though she does push for his growth and change in character (take initiative to help others, be more considerate, stand up to his father and have an actual conversation with him). The cons are more of a reverse of Felix, where despite the pleasant start, I would explore a sour path later, working off the fact that Adrien struggles with pressure and exclusion and has a tendency to quit. And Tikki will be another who adds pressure and expectation to his life. It will be an exploration of how much does Adrien genuinely want to be a hero, and at this time, I cannot promise that he would stay as one. That end is up in the air.
If it helps in the choice making, both are planned to get a Miraculous either way, it's just one will be a more major lead character and will get a Miraculous sooner. The other has to wait for "S2" at the earliest. To add to it, there is a potential plot bunny I have of the other twin discovering their brother is the hero, and the shenanigans of that discovery which will lead to their future Miraculous involvement. And depending on who's the civilian, that can have some polarizing responses (Adrien would be over the moon while Felix instead would be stressing about it), so this can be a factor to consider too.
I also need to stress, Adrienette will not be endgame in this Miraculous Rewrite. There may be initial crushes, but that's it. They will just be good friends. Picking Adrien thinking Adrienette will happen will not happen. This is more about the characters and how they will grow and work off each other than the ships. At this time, I'd say romance would just really take a back seat, I want it to be more friendship focused initially.
As I see the potential in both options as leads, working off Tikki, and as a potential partner for Marinette, and it needs to be decided before I can take things further, it'd be a big help to get others opinion/preference on the other major lead to follow.

adrien's little brother
nothing at all like him even a little bit
except for the daddy issues lol
kind of rough around the edges, doesn't smile often, looks a little scary
(turns into a puppy around his friends lol)
fake blond (hc that gabe had brown hair before it all went white lol)
none of us were really expecting him to ever get used to manual labour because he's a model and has never worked like that a day in his life but he loves the physical tasks in the bakery (ex. unloading trucks, kneading doughs, mixing ingredients, etc.) and literally begs to work there completely for free
had really long, shaggy hair (like to his shoulders) before gabriel made him cut it- now it's shaved on the sides, and blond and curly on top
despite having to be the one to act in a protective role to adrien, he does still answer to adrien most of the time and craves his older brother's approval- this goes double for felix, who is not the canon version of felix, but the pv version in this DR (separate post on him later)

Hey there! Just here with another poll and some things I'd like to share about the rewrite.
First thing is name changes:
Gabriel - Marion
Gabriel's Sister - Marie
Marinette - Meizhen / Mei Segal
Marinette's older brother - Jun Segal
Sabine - Yinghua Yu / Yu Yinghua
Tom - Eugène Segal
I don't know why, but something compelled me to rename Gabe. Also, you may have noticed that I have given him a sister! As stated before, I decided to have Adrien's mom not heavily involved in the rewrite (where she is officially dead/no coffin in the basement type stuff) and she was never the wielder of the Peacock miraculous.
Aside from that, Adrien and Felix will be siblings in this rewrite! Felix is homeschooled while Adrien decides to attend the school (which is how the story begins where he's starting school just like in the original show).
Marion and Marie are twins and have always dreamed of big things since they were little. That's just a bit of what I'll share about their dynamic.
Of course,,, I changed Marinette and her parents' names for obvious reasons (if you know, you know) and I hope you all like them! I added Mei's older brother, Jun! He works at a flower shop owned by another character that will be kept secret :) He is about three to four years older than Mei, so about 20-21.
I was debating on changing Master Fu's name, so what do you think?
Now for the poll.
So after that being said, here's just some things about miraculous wielders and their abilities:
Because they're based on animals, each wielder will have specific abilities that correspond to that animal. For example, the Ladybug and Bee miraculous grants their wielders the capability of flight!
Fox and Cat wielders have night vision while Bull and Tiger wielders have incredible strength. These are just some examples.
Not everyone in Mei's school will have a miraculous!
I took inspiration from magical girl anime such as Shugo Chara, Tokyo Mew Mew, Madoka Magica, Cardcaptor Sakura, and Sailor Moon when doing this rewrite.
If you have any questions and such, feel free to send it in the inbox or comment them!

KOTLC Miraculous AU (pt. 3)
Part one;
Part two;
Nino: Jensi OKAY SO MY REASONING; the part that Nino plays is a fun friend who's totally detached from Adrien's modelling, upper-class life. So I ran into an issue with Keefe being both Nino and Chloe. (NO KEEFE BEING THE CHLOE DOES NOT MEAN THAT THEIR FRIENDSHIP WILL END, FITZ WILL END UP WITH MULTIPLE BEST FRIENDS AND PLEASE READ FIRST PART FOR MORE DETAILS ON CHLOE KEEFE) There's also like. no other male main character that's even got anything other than Wylie. (and no offense to Wylie. He's cool I just permanently have him being at least 5 years older than the oldest of the main main cast mentally so it's hard thinking of him as anything but that and thus it's kinda awkward) so this is a chance to flesh out Jensi more!! He's also like, the kid who talks to people quickly and is really friendly, so I figured he'd be a good fit.
As for the rest of the characters, there's...welp this is the end. Mainly because I can't really find any other 'roles' they can fulfil since I've done the mains already. So they'll backfill, but I'll try to give them their own arcs as well.
For the adult characters, Sophie will be adopted by Edaline and Grady in the beginning already. They run an extremely successful bakery with multiple outlets across Paris. also should Jolie still be dead or be an older sister figure to Sophie? for funsies (and also because Amy's in a coma in the AU)
Gabriel: Alden. Yall knew this was coming the MOMENT I put Fitz as Adrien.
Felix: Alvar. HEAR ME OUT. ALVAR BEING MORE LIKE A DISTANT COUSIN (because reasons I haven't figured out yet) than older brother BECAUSE OF HOW OFTEN HE'S AWAY. Alvar returning and stirring Fitz into further rebellion (and making Alden remember why he threatened to disown his oldest son and failure) Alvar having his own agenda, that both lines up and collides with the heroes' (protecting Fitz, and then Biana when she returns)
Also just to clarify; my in-the-drafts AU is not season 1, season 2, season 3. Season 1 is mainly filler, and while I'm planning to use the 'villain of the week' eps turned into actual character development, I'm just trying my best. I also, plainly, just do not want to write 26/(maybe more including s2 eps) chapters just being recolors of the same episode with Sophie and Fitz's names over Mari and Adrien's. that is a rabbit hole I have seen many fall into and I don't think I could stand being that plotless (sorry)
Finally, depending on how much of the filler I cut, I'm looking at the entire story spanning about maybe two years at most. (keep in mind I am trying to avoid s4 and s5 entirely. just. no. I cannot draw out a reveal scene that long I'm trying to plan it in conjunction when Sophie and Fitz finally successfully hunt down the verse Master Fu)

Adrien's feather allergy as foreshadow of his status as sentimonster is reaching on fandom part. But fandom claimed Felix being one isn't. His name being the episode name definitely foreshadowing his status as sentimonste, considering in s1-3, the episode always named after either akuma or sentimonster bar the Origins. That's what I call foreshadowing. Not whatever feather BS people like to claim.
Felix being a sentimonster is just make senses, always make senses for me, considering he seems harbor a jealousy toward Adrien especially at his remark "You always do everything your father tells you to do?" Considering as sentimonster he couldn't disobey whoever had his amok while human Adrien can disobey anytime he want yet choose not to, in his view.
Then come s4 and 5 with a huge retcon.
Also prior to s4 I don't believe the rings is amok, Felix want it because his mother want it since it's her family heirloom. Again, make senses that she want one of it considering Emilie is dead at this point. She has the right to own one of her family heirloom, Gabriel don't.
One of the episode in s5 implied that Felix always know that the rings are amok and this doesn't make senses if we were to connect back to his debut episode where he just give the ring he stole to his mother, even if say Amelie is a better parents/human than Gabriel, Felix who claimed to love his cousin and want to free him, should know better than to give his cousin's amok to his mother. The math is just not mathing, unless Felix doesn't know the rings are the amok in his debut episode and only know later which is a huge plot hole.
The retcon isn't inherently bad per se, in initial plot Luka is supposed to be Juleka's brother older by two years, s4 retcon him to be her twin. This isn't a problem because it's a minor thing that people either doesn't notice or doesn't care. But when what retconned is almost about the whole world building and lore, that's when it become a big problem. S4 onward doesn't seems like the same series as it's prior season.
,
Would you also argue that Nathalie is a sentimonster given the name of the final episode of season two?
Tumblr media
[Image showing that episode 25 of Miraculous season two is named "Mayura"]
And what about the first episode of the origins two parter? Does this mean that Marinette and Adrien are both not humans?
Tumblr media
[Image showing that episode 11 of Miraculous season one is named "Ladybug & Chat Noir"]
In seasons 1 to 4, episodes were mostly named for akumas and sentimonsters, but it wasn't a hard rule, so that's a pretty weak argument for Felix being a sentimonster. Even if he was human, he's still the episode's main antagonist, so naming it after him isn't weird even if he was fully human. This is extra true since Chat Noir was originally named Felix, so calling the episode "Felix" apparently drove up hype from fans who were saddened by the change. People wanted to see Felix make at least a cameo and would even pester the head writer about it prior to this episode. A lot of people wanted him to be a former Chat Noir or Adrien's older brother or something like that. You can find a lot of fanfics that did this long before season three was even airing.
Plus what else would you call this episode? There wasn't a single akuma, there were three, and "Princess Fragrance, Lady Wifi, Reflekta" is both an awkward name and something of a spoiler since I think this was the first time that we saw one item lead to multiple akumas.
ALL THAT BEING SAID, I would actually buy that Felix was planned to be a sentimonster from the start. That doesn't feel like a retcon in the same way that Adrien and Kagami do because there is some setup for Felix. The "always do what your told" line fits him being a senti and evil "twins" are often revealed to be magical in origin in these kinds of shows. Plus sentimonsters were a thing at this point, so yeah, I'd totally buy it.
The big reason I still call it a retcon is because of the issue you bring up about the rings. The way they're handled in that episode makes no sense if they're supposedly Adrien's amoks because how would Felix even know that? Who told him? Amelie?
I mean, I'd buy that Amelie knew because it's implied that she was somewhat close to her sister, but that just raises more questions! Why is she demanding her nephew's amok? Why does she give it to Felix? What does she think he's going to do with it? What is going on here?
And, of course, there's the biggest issue of them all: why is Gabriel only mildly annoyed that Felix and Amelie have Adrien's amok? If that was me, I'd be demanding it back! I'd be sending akumas! I'd go to war! You are not controlling my kid!
But Gabriel does nothing. He just waits for Felix to bring it back in the next season. Like this is how he greets Ameilie the next time he sees her:
Amelie: Gabriel! I'm so happy to be able to thank you in person for giving our family's ring (kisses his cheeks) back to Félix. Gabriel: It was the sensible thing to do, Amelie. Adrien: That was very thoughtful of you, Father.
Dude, what are you doing? Why didn't you just tell her that Felix stole the ring? What is going on here? Why does this episode (Gabriel Agreste) end will Gabriel totally fine that he didn't get the ring back because he finally got his hands on one of Ladybug's magical charms? It seriously comes across like he the completely forgot about the ring even though this is the season where Adrien is finally foreshadowed to be a sentimonster! Writers, what are you doing???
A better version of the episode Felix would see Felix show up with the goal of learning if Adrien is also a sentimonster and - if yes - figuring out what the amok is. Have Gabriel give Adrien a command to be nice to Felix so Felix is a total brat to see what his cousin will do. This would be excellent foreshadowing because you could do all of that without directly stating what Felix is doing, but once the reveal happens, it would be a major "oh!" moment on a rewatch.
As-is, the episode is just weird. It may have been intending to set Felix up as a sentimonster, but why? What was the plan? What's with the rings? Why did Felix try to take away all of Adrien's friends and ruin his reputation? There are just so many questions raised here that - sentimonster or not - Felix was still massively retconned.
I will also agree that a retcon isn't necessarily a bad thing, but the writers claim to have planned everything out which is why I will point out every one as it clearly refutes that claim. Plus most of them aren't minor things like the weirdness of Luka's age. It's big stuff like all of the above, which does negatively impact the show. Everything about Felix is extremely unsatisfying and I don't think we're getting answers to any of the questions I asked in this post.

I had a headcanon back in the very early days of fandom that if it were a universe where magic didn't exist, then Adrien was actually Tamaki's cousin. Like, Tamaki's mother is the sister to Emilie. I mean, they're both French, blonde, have a tragic mother backstory, bad relationships with their fathers, and I absolutely believe Tamaki would have sent Adrien a boat load of Japanese manga and treats when he moved to Japan, thus sparking Adrien's love of anime.
LJKSKJLFS i love it
now im imagining adrien dreaming about another life where tamaki is his cousin—more like an older brother—the coolest guy he can imagine, who showers him with gifts and praise and attention, who watches anime with him and plays duets on the piano, who teaches him everything he knows, from art history to how to impress girls.
But instead his cousin is felix, who once convinced him that he was adrien's shadow self, a physical manifestation of his worst fears and darkest emotions, and the only way to defeat him and allow the light to cleanse the evil was to embrace his own inner demons with compassion by giving felix the last croissant

Sentimonsters vs Frankenstein's Monster
My six-year-old says Adrien can't be a sentimonster because he's too nice...and I'm back here with another essay.
I think some of our views on sentimonsters are wrapped up in our linguistic connotations for the word 'monster'. It has an interesting origin, probably related to words like 'demonstrate' or 'remonstrate'. Monsters are creatures that indicate or show us something...maybe about ourselves.
When Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein, she used 'monster' to refer to something unnatural, made by man rather than God. This has precedent in older tales such as the minotaur, who was monstrous for being an animal-human hybrid and therefore also unnatural, not as the gods intended. Usually in such stories, the monsters are hidden, the way we try to hide the 'monstrous' parts of ourselves.
When the sentimonsters were first introduced into Miraculous, they seemed 'monstrous' in the horror sense, e.g. Feast. When senti-Ladybug showed up, we saw that 'monster' could refer to any living being created by a human rather than being naturally brought into this world by whatever means you believe we end up here.
As soon as you start thinking of Frankenstein, the parallels just keep coming, so here we go!
Gabriel vs Victor
The most obvious parallel is that of Gabriel Agreste vs Victor Frankenstein. Victor first decides to create his monster after his mother dies. Grief and love drive him to rebel against nature and reanimate the dead.
Similarly, Gabriel is driven to find the miraculous after the death of his wife. He too seeks the means to reanimate someone. Gabriel has also created life by unnatural means. At the very least, this is Felix and Kagami. I believe Adrien is also a sentimonster. (If you know the answer via leaks, please don't confirm this in comments, as I am watching in order and avoiding all spoilers.)
In the novel, the monster kills Victor's wife. If the full senti-Adrien theory holds true, then he indirectly and unknowingly killed Emilie.
In his grief, Victor drops out of society and sinks deeper and deeper into his project, hiding away in his laboratory, fueled by ambition. Gabriel too dropped out of the public eye and went into his lair, obsessed with his own ambitions. Obviously neither of them ever heard any zombie stories, or they would have known it never goes well.
Family / Acceptance / Appearances
The key journey throughout Frankenstein is the monster's search for love, family and acceptance. He is rejected by his creator - whom he calls 'Father' - just as Adrien is not truly accepted by his father Gabriel.
The monster seeks a new family, finding one living in the woods, on the fringes of society, as if this is the only way to find true warmth. The family consists of a brother and two sisters, and the monster wishes to be their brother. One sister is blind and befriends the monster based on his kindness. It is only when the others finally meet him that he's rejected, because they are repelled by his appearance. Interestingly, the brother is named Felix....
Probably if the monster had looked like Adrien, this family - and everyone else in the novel - would have been won over. In fact, Miraculous makes such a point of describing Adrien as 'the image of perfection' that it could be seen as a purposeful contrast with Frankenstein, as if Gabriel learned from Victor's mistakes.
The novel suggest that if you're ugly on the outside, it can make you ugly on the inside...but only because people will react badly to you and hurt you so much that you will be bent and twisted with resentment and rage. In Miraculous, we have beautiful people like Adrien, Felix and Kagami. Society reacts to them well - so what does that make them inside? Felix is perhaps the most interesting part of this because he's quite ugly inside, despite looking just like Adrien on the outside. The show suggests that appearances can be deceiving, a message we see again and again through the theme of masks and hidden identities. It also suggests that we can be more than we were 'made' or groomed to be - a point we'll come back to later.
But let's remember that everyone on Miraculous has a shadow, a hidden darkness - the monsters they don't want anyone to see. These come out when people get akumatised. It's love and warmth that bring us back into the fold, as it were. Perhaps if Frankenstein's monster had a Marinette, he would have had a different fate, just as Ladybug saves Adrien from being doomed to an eternity as Cat Blanc.
Loss of Innocence / Kindness and Forgiveness
Frankenstein's monster has the appearance of an adult (sort of) but he is a child, a newborn seeing the world with fresh eyes. Similarly, Adrien begins Miraculous sheltered from the world, getting his first taste of society when he enrolls in school.
In Frankenstein, the monster seems to be the only character who demonstrates compassion and forgiveness of others' transgressions. There is a kind of childishness to it, a naivety. Kids are always shocked when they get hurt. They have to learn to put up boundaries and protect themselves. The adult world is, unfortunately, full of selfishness and hurtfulness and corruption (along with goodness!).
Frankenstein is a story populated entirely by adults, so there really is no reprieve from the cynicism and bleakness. In Miraculous, we see this from the adults, too - but there are other kids, and many of them are basically kind and loving. Even so, Adrien is arguably the most forgiving, patient, compassionate character. We could see this as part of his innocence, and the loss of that innocence is another similar theme. Both he and the monster slowly have their eyes opened to the cruelties humans are capable of.
They both also learn what cruelties they are capable of - although Adrien hasn't truly discovered this yet, because Marinette has hidden the Cat Blanc episode from him. He needs to know so he can face, accept and deal with his own inner darkness. Otherwise, it will always be waiting in the wings for him.
The Search for Identity
A crucial feature of Frankenstein was the monster's search for identity and a path. He was a blank slate, unsure who he was. And can we even say 'he'? He was made from male body parts but he never grew up as a boy - he never grew up at all. He just entered the world fully formed (sort of) and was expected to insinuate himself into adult life. Who even was he?
We see this mirrored in episodes like Wishmaker, where Adrien reveals what a blank slate he is. I won't go into this here, because I talked about this in depth in my Kagami analysis after Perfection. If he learns he's a sentimonster, it just compounds it - although I won't go into this here because I've spent 107,000 words going into it in one of my current fics...let's not add that to a Tumblr post...! Suffice to say, he will have a lot to process.
Fate vs Free Will
At the novel's conclusion, Victor Frankenstein is killed by his own creation. It's poetic justice - or karma - or simply inevitable. Mary Shelley subtitled Frankenstein 'A Modern Prometheus Story', referring to the old tale of Prometheus attempting to steal fire from the gods and being punished for getting above himself. I suppose we are all waiting for Gabriel to receive his punishment, and there is an expectation that a lot of it has to come from Adrien himself,. Indirectly, it has, because it was his cataclysm that caused Gabriel to start falling to pieces. However, crucially, Gabriel was the one who used that cataclysm on himself, which sets Miraculous apart from Frankenstein in a big way.
Last night, a friend asked me: 'Does [Adrien being a sentimonster] not cheapen his whole journey about breaking free from the abuse? Because he can't, because it's magic...versus it just being that it's hard emotionally when it's someone you love.'
I think this needs to be looked at symbolically. A big part of Frankenstein was the exploration of the idea of genetics (a new concept in that era) vs upbringing - nature vs nurture. Did the monster ever stand a chance? Similarly, did Adrien? Or Felix? Or Kagami? Are they - and therefore we - all victims of programming? Can they / we ever break free of that programming? Do we get some kind of exemption card if we never break free, because we were doomed to destiny?
I'll liken this to other genetic conditions. I have Tourette's Syndrome, which means there are a lot of things I can't do - like underwater swimming. But you know...maybe I can, because I used to think I could never drive, too. Then, years later, I decided to take lessons and discovered that it's perfectly safe for me. I found ways to overcome the disability.
We can apply this to all kinds of people - think of athletes and musicians missing limbs, for instance, or Beethoven continuing to compose music even long after he'd gone deaf. Humans are capable of the most remarkable things, if they want it enough.
We all start with a kind of programming - that genetic code, our family set-up, and so forth. What cannot be programmed is our emotional and behavioural responses to that programming. When our emotions conflict with our programming, it's painful. Overcoming that programming is hard.
We see Adrien being controlled by the ring, forced to obey his father. However, he still feels things beyond that. In Risk, he tells Marinette he keeps wanting to tell his father things but he feels a block in his mind. There is a line he can't cross. We can say he's been made this way.
Taken symbolically, a lot of kids feel this way. Parents don't need magic rings to control and manipulate their children or demand that they be the people the parents want them to be. Adrien's struggle is actually the same struggle so many teenagers go through. This is one of the key aspects of Miraculous I have always related to.
If Adrien is indeed a sentimonster, he has been designed (groomed) to feel deep discomfort at opposing his father, to the point where it feels as if he's attacking himself. To break free of Gabriel's control and abuse is to discard everything he was raised to believe he was. He will truly be a blank slate, starting over entirely. Without Gabriel dictating who he is...who is Adrien Agreste? He will be a newborn again, in a nearly adult body - just like Frankenstein's monster.
As someone who grew up in a household of abuse, I went through all of this myself. I don't think the sentimonster angle cheapens this journey. I think it is a fantastical idea that serves as an allegory for something very real that many people go through.
And as we grow up...well, there's only so much that you can blame on your father. Frankenstein's monster may have had every reason to hate his creator, but they were still his hands around Elizabeth's throat, and it was still him who killed Victor in the Arctic. Adrien can blame Gabriel for plenty, but crucially in Cat Blanc, when he found out the truth and was prepared to cataclysm his own father, he held back at the last second. He didn't cross the line the monster crossed, and that's because of free will.
They may both have been programmed in some way, and that's the fate side of things that can be likened to genetics. But we're more than just a jumble of DNA, and Adrien is more than the magic I believe created him. So is Felix, and that makes every bad thing Felix has ever done 100% on him to atone for.
We could get tangled up in thoughts like: 'Maybe Adrien was just made so good that he could never knowingly cataclysm his father,' or, 'Maybe it was the block in his mind that stopped him.' But I don't believe this. Fate decided that cataclysm would happen anyway, but it was Gabriel who did it to himself.
We all have choices and Adrien made the crucial one - the choice not to become like his father. Because ultimately, Frankenstein poses the question: 'Who is the true monster in this story?' The answer, as we all know, is Victor himself...although his creation becomes monstrous as the story progresses. In the same way, Gabriel is the monster of Miraculous.
The difference is that Adrien makes better choices and is surrounded by the love he needs to keep him on a better path than Frankenstein's monster. Through his friends, especially Marinette/Ladybug, he is finding the family the monster wanted so desperately but never had. The monster concluded that he needed Victor to make him an equally monstrous companion because no one else would ever accept him. Adrien does not need to resort to this.
Adrien may be a 'sentimonster' but he will never be a 'monster'.
Please no post-Perfection spoilers in the comments :)

TRISHA. Top Five Blorbos/Characters You Are/Were Obsessed With at any given point in time!
Oh hahah. This is a list of dead people.
First and oldest. TOM BERENSON from Animorphs. Talk about haunting the narrative. Tom despite being in a lot of books has three lines attributed to himself. The rest are all the brain slug that snatched him. The reason the leader got involved, the sacrfice he makes at the end of it all
Older brother my beloved. My first mind control.
Next up, Rory Williams from. Dr. Who. I love this man. He was doomed from the start but I loved this man so much. He never stopped trying and everything about him makes me so fucking happy.
Kurogiri from BNHA - let me tell you about ghosts that haunt the narrative. People that were gone and dead before the story even started but still leave such a massive hole in it all. I felt cheated bt the final story. But it's also one of loss.
Felix and Adrien tie for an equal place in my heart! I can't split them, they are meant to be together. I am obsessed with them. They are mirrors of each other and so perfect.
(Honorable mention to Adam from Spn. Matt Holt from Voltron, Nina Tucker from FMA)
But top man of the hour has to be Maes Hughes. The amount of hurt this man dying did me. I had friends who got me into FMA just to see me react to Maes. Talk about haunting the narrative and making a huge impact. This man never left.

Theoretically Forever
[Adrien POV sequel to Hypothetically Ever After, childhood friends AU, adrienette, fake/pretend relationship]
Adrien Agreste has had a crush on Marinette Dupain-Cheng for as long as he can remember.
Unfortunately for him, however, she’s only ever had eyes for his older brother Félix, who’s never so much as looked her way.
But when an opportunity suddenly presents itself to turn the tables and rewrite the script on their relationship, Adrien finds himself hard-pressed to turn it down… Especially when it means getting to date the love of his life.
Even if it is only fake.
AU where PV Felix is Adrien’s older brother. inspired by the novel “the boys next door” by jennifer echols. hello and welcome back to the brothers AU fic series that no one ever asked for yet i remain obsessed with.
read it here
chapter one
Adrien Agreste had been in love for as long as he could remember.
Or at least since the age of five, which was practically the same thing.
It may have seemed a bit excessive, or perhaps even absurd to most people. But he’d always been considered mature for his age—more advanced than most of his peers, according to his tutors—and he had a pretty solid grasp of what love looked like, thanks to his parents.
Although his father wasn’t the most demonstrative with his affections, it was clear that his mother and father were crazy for one another. It was there in the way they gazed at each other when they thought no one was looking; in the way his father’s eyes seemed to find his mother the moment she walked into a room, and the way her face lit up when she found him in return. And most of all, it was clear in the way they loved and cherished him and his brother Félix: dearly, wholeheartedly, and without reserve.
Still, five was pretty early for romantic love by most standards.
But Adrien didn’t care. He knew it was real. Even if no one else seemed to believe him.
“Maman, when I grow up, Marinette and I are going to be married,” Adrien declared proudly, beaming up at his mother where she sat on the edge of his bed.
Émilie paused, her hands hovering above the blankets that she was tucking around him. Her lips stretched into a smile.
“Is that so?” She said, smoothing the covers over him with one hand while the other reached out to softly card through his hair.
Adrien nodded emphatically, his hair falling into his eyes and obscuring his vision.
“Uh-huh. And we’re gonna have a big house with a waterslide and live together with you and Papa and Félix forever.” He wiggled under the covers, his body filling with excitement at the thought.
“Oh really?” His mother pushed the hair back from his forehead, laughter clear in her voice even though he couldn’t see her facial expression. “And what if Félix wants to marry someone and live with them instead?”
His vision now clear thanks to her ministrations, Adrien gazed into his mother’s warm green eyes; the same eyes he saw reflected back in his own face every time he looked in the mirror.
“Well, they can live with us too,” he decided finally, his mind made up. “It’s going to be a big house.”
“And what if Marinette wants to marry someone else?” Émilie asked, one brow raising in question.
Adrien didn’t even bat an eye.
“She won’t, Maman,” he assured her, his lips pulling back in a sneaky grin. “I'm a real catch, you know.”
At that, his mother burst out laughing, her eyes sparkling as she leaned down to kiss his forehead.
“Yes you are, my love. But for now, why don’t you focus on catching some sleep... It’s quite late, you know.”
Adrien snuggled down into his pillows, satisfied at having made his mother laugh, and assured in the knowledge that there was no way Marinette Dupain-Cheng could possibly wind up marrying someone else.
They were made for each other, after all.
Even if no one else knew it yet.

Present
-x-
Adrien had been dreaming about this summer for the better part of the last year.
It had been a warm light on the horizon, and the only thing that helped to carry him through some of the bleaker winter days in Paris. The days where everything outside his window had been cold and grey, and there was no solace to be found inside—the frigid air chasing him through the empty halls of his perpetually silent home.
On those days, especially, he’d clung to that light, letting the warmth strengthen him even when it felt like the darkness might last forever.
But now they were finally here, after so many long days and nights.
Adrien took a deep breath in, savouring the clean, fresh air in his lungs.
It smells like home.
His moment of gentle introspection was brought to an abrupt end by his older brother, who rudely hip-checked him out of the way, nearly running over his toes with the wheels of his rolling suitcase in the process.
“You’re in the way,” Félix said, making his way toward the house without sparing so much as a glance at the natural beauty around him.
Adrien withheld a sigh, refusing to let his brother’s early morning surliness dampen his euphoria.
Summer was here, they were finally back at the lake, and all was right with the world. Or at least it would be shortly.
Fishing his phone out of his pocket with one hand, Adrien dialled the number he’d had memorized since almost before he knew how to count to ten without relying on his fingers.
“Hello? Hi, Sabine, it’s Adrien. Is Marinette there?”
-x-
After getting settled in and unpacking his things in record time, Adrien found himself with both time and energy to spare.
He was too amped up to play video games or sit down and watch something, and he didn’t want to wander too far from the house for fear that he might miss Marinette’s arrival.
And so he made his way to his brother’s room, content to dedicate his efforts to his third favourite pastime:
Annoying his older brother.
Bursting into Félix’s room without knocking, Adrien bounded across the floor, throwing himself onto the bed with a dramatic sigh.
“Yes, do come in,” Félix intoned without looking up from his book. “Make yourself at home. You’re not disturbing me at all…”
“Brother, have you no compassion for my poor nerves?” Adrien cried, slinging an arm across his forehead with enough melodrama to bring his acting coach to tears. “Don’t you know what today is?”
“It’s Thursday.”
“No! I mean, yes, technically it is Thursday, but that’s not what I meant. Today is a much more important day. I’m finally going to be reunited with Marinette, after nearly a year of not seeing her!” He grabbed a pillow, hugging it to his chest and repressing the urge to squeal like an infatuated schoolgirl.
The intent must have been clear in his posture though, if Félix’s disgusted scoff was anything to go by.
“A most auspicious occasion, to be sure.” His brother’s tone was glacial.
Adrien lay on his back, staring up at the ceiling ponderously.
“I think I’m in love with her.”
“Uh-huh.”
“She doesn’t know I exist.”
There was the sound of a page turning. “I find that particularly hard to believe when considering the fact that she’s been your friend since you were in preschool.”
“No, I mean, of course Marinette knows I exist physically,” Adrien said, struggling to find the words. “I meant like…mentally. Romantically.” He fell silent, pouting up at the rafters.
She’s never looked at me because she’s been too busy mooning after you, Adrien thought resentfully in his brother’s direction.
Oblivious to his internal grumbling, Félix sighed, closing the book he was reading with a snap.
“If I tell you what you want to hear, does that mean you’ll give me my bed and my peace and quiet back?”
Adrien rolled over, shoving his face into the comforter and letting out a pathetic groan.
Félix sighed again.
“If you want her to consider you seriously, then you’re going to have to step up your game,” Félix said at last, his words brusque and business-like. “Make your intentions so clear that there’s no way she’ll be able to misinterpret them.”
Lifting his face from the comforter, Adrien shot his brother a suspicious look. “Okay, but how?”
Although to the untrained observer, Félix’s expression may have appeared impassive, Adrien was easily able to pick up on the glint in his icy blue eyes.
“…I can think of a few ways.”
Adrien bristled, his face reddening.
“Pervert,” he muttered, pushing himself up and off the bed, no longer interested in continuing the conversation if Félix was going to insist on being so unhelpful. Besides, what did his iceberg of a brother even know about relationships, anyway? Theirs really was a textbook case of the blind leading the blind.
Adrien shook his head, heading for the door.
Before he could reach it, however, the intercom in Félix’s room buzzed, which could only mean one thing.
Someone was at the front door.
Adrien’s heart leapt straight into his throat.
“Oh my god, she’s here!” He lurched forward, only to double back at the last second, wanting to check his appearance. He fussed with his hair, pushing it back behind his ears and straightening his shirt until he was satisfied that he looked half decent.
“You look like a twat,” Félix said, his version of a compliment.
Adrien eyed his reflection, his face twisting with disgust.
“You’re right. I look like you.” He shook his hair out again.
When he caught Félix rolling his eyes in the mirror, Adrien stuck his tongue out playfully.
“You’d better hurry, otherwise Father is going to be the one to greet Marinette at the door, and we both know what his idea of a welcoming committee looks like…”
At his brother’s not-so-gentle reminder, Adrien bolted, single-mindedly focused on subverting disaster and making sure that his father didn’t do anything horrible that might scare Marinette away before he’d even gotten the chance to say hello to her.
Unfortunately for him, however, disaster seemed intent upon finding him that morning.
Throwing the door open with a bit more force than was strictly necessary, Adrien all but catapulted himself forward, oblivious to any perils that awaited him. Which meant that he’d barely set one foot over the threshold before he was immediately colliding with another fast-moving body.
Well, he had time to think before the inevitable descent began, I don’t need to be a physics whiz to know how this is going to end.
With nothing to grab onto to steady himself, and plenty of g-force behind him, Adrien practically flew through the air, landing on the floor with an inelegant thump, successfully and quite spectacularly knocking the wind out of himself.
He was given very little time to contemplate the cruel nature of gravity, however, because suddenly a high-pitched feminine voice was speaking in his ear, causing his breath to catch for an entirely different reason.
“Adrien!”
And then he was on his back, two slim arms wrapping around his torso and squeezing tightly.
Adrien’s head spun, the combination of a lap full of soft teenage girl and her titanium grip—which was slowly cutting off his air supply—doing funny things to his brain.
“Can’t—breathe, Mari—” he wheezed, his vision going spotty at the edges.
“Sorry!” Marinette laughed, the sound echoing in the quiet of the hallway. “I’ve been working out more lately and I guess all that weight training is finally making a difference.”
She began to pull away, and Adrien felt a rush of panic.
Oh no, she’s getting up, a little voice in his brain cried in alarm. Don’t let her leave—!
He quickly tugged her back down, his grip tightening as he cradled her against his body, inhaling deeply. How was it possible that she smelled even better than he remembered—sweet and smooth, with an undercurrent of spice that made him want to dig his nose into the point where her neck met her shoulder and drink her scent in from the source.
Ashamed at the direction his thoughts had taken, Adrien turned his face away, trying to ignore the burning in his cheeks.
“It’s okay,” he said eventually, his next words coming out far more earnestly than he’d intended. “I’m glad to see you.”
Marinette didn’t respond, but Adrien felt the way she softened in his grasp, melting into him just that bit more. His heart fluttered.
“Ahem.” Félix cleared his throat, shattering the tenderness of the moment with the impact of an atom bomb.
Oh my GOD, has he been there this whole time?? Adrien grimaced, trying not to be offended by the way the sound of Félix’s voice sent Marinette scrambling out of his lap like his pants had just caught on fire.
He eyed his older brother distrustfully, taking in the look of smug superiority he wore. It was clear by his expression that Félix knew exactly how much Adrien had been enjoying that impromptu embrace, and how much he was currently cursing him out in his head for interrupting it.
“If you’re both quite finished, I’d prefer it if you moved your tearful lovers' reunion to a location that isn’t the middle of my bedroom doorway.”
Adrien flushed, shooting daggers at his brother behind Marinette’s back.
I know where you live, he mouthed silently.
Félix merely smirked.
“F-Félix!” The soft breathlessness in Marinette’s voice made Adrien’s stomach clench, even more so than the elbow in the gut he received as she clambered to her feet.
Here we go, he thought, resigning himself to invisibility as his childhood best friend proceeded to make goo-goo eyes at his brother.
Silently, he watched as Marinette threw herself all over Félix, her arms snaking around his torso as she hugged him tightly. And Félix—the traitorous bastard—even went so far as to override his programming and return the embrace (!), patting Marinette once on the back in what was basically his equivalent of an enthusiastic double cheek kiss.
When Marinette pulled back, her face was an adorable shade of pink, her blue eyes shining as she gazed up at him.
A sour taste filled Adrien’s mouth. The image of the two of them embracing would almost certainly revisit him later in his nightmares.
After what felt like an eternity, Félix finally extricated himself from Marinette’s clutches and left, but not before throwing Adrien one last loaded look for good measure.
Your move, little brother. His expression seemed to say.
Yet Adrien remained seated on the floor, stewing in his resentment and jealousy.
He was so preoccupied with glaring after his brother, in fact, that he almost missed the hand extended towards him.
Adrien blinked at Marinette in confusion. Was she… trying to help him up?
How adorable.
“What?” She snapped after a moment, bristling when he didn’t immediately take her up on her generosity.
Adrien raised an eyebrow.
“I’m bigger than you.” And as much as I enjoyed having you in my lap the first time, I think I’ve had enough crashing to the floor for one day, thanks. This part he had the presence of mind not to say out loud.
A twitch of the eye was the only warning he received before he was suddenly being hauled upright and unceremoniously plunked back on his feet. Adrien staggered, shocked at the ease with which she’d lifted him.
“And I’m stronger than I look,” Marinette replied smugly, her expression radiating satisfaction as she gazed at him, her arms crossed in a way that inadvertently showed off muscles he hadn’t known until that moment she’d even possessed.
Holy shit, that was hot. Adrien gawped at her, quickly glancing away before she could catch him staring like a buffoon. Even though he knew the floors were immaculate, he busied himself with dusting off his clothes, just to give himself a minute to regain his composure.
As he was doing so, he heard Marinette gasp.
“You grew. Again.” She appeared outraged by the notion, as though growing was some sort of illicit, sinful activity.
Adrien puffed up with pride.
“A whole eight centimetres,” he confirmed, pleased that she’d noticed. Now he was finally on eye level with his father and Félix, a fact which brought him no small amount of glee. Gone were the days of being the baby of the family in both the figurative and literal senses of the term. At the rate he was going, he might even outgrow both of them by the time he reached his twenties. The concept was thrilling.
“Eight centimetres? How—?” Marinette gaped up at him, her blue eyes bright with incredulity. “What kind of freak body grows eight centimetres in a year?”
Adrien leaned towards her, his lips quirking when he realised just how far he had to bend over to be on eye level with her now.
He rested an elbow on her shoulder, marvelling internally. She’s so tiny!
Outwardly, he decided to do what he did best, which was tease her relentlessly for her shortness. “I’ll have you know that it’s perfectly normal. Most people experience these things called ‘growth spurts’ during puberty. Where they actually get taller!” He lowered his voice as though he was divulging some great secret.
Then he blinked.
“Oh right,” he pretended to take her in for the first time. “I forgot who I was talking to for a second.”
Marinette’s eyes flashed, her nostrils flaring.
“You’re hilarious,” she deadpanned, elbowing him in the side roughly as she slipped out of his grasp.
Adrien grinned, his lips pulling even wider when he noticed the way her mouth was twitching, her efforts not to laugh obvious.
She’s still as easy to read as ever, he thought fondly, gazing at her out of the corner of his eye as they made their way to his room. He chatted her ear off the whole way, practically buzzing with excitement now that she was finally here. The prospect of spending two weeks of uninterrupted quality time together had him so euphoric, in fact, that he didn’t pick up on Marinette’s uncharacteristic silence, or notice that anything was amiss until she was hauling his loft’s ladder up behind her.
And by then, of course, it was far too late.
“Woah, woah, woah, what’s this about now?” Adrien asked, his eyes widening. There was only one reason that the ladder ever came up.
Marinette’s response did little to reassure him of her intentions.
“Top secret.” Was all she said as she fiddled with the hatch, seemingly determined to ensure that it was properly closed.
Once she was satisfied with her efforts, she turned to face him. The look she wore was enough to make Adrien recoil.
This must be a new record, he thought, taking a step backward instinctively. She’s only been here for ten minutes and she’s already up to no good.
“I know what that look means… You’re either about to rope me into something dangerous—and quite possibly illegal—or you’re about to tell me something that I’d really rather not hear.” Adrien said, his mouth going on autopilot as he tried in vain to halt her advance. He could feel himself losing ground, both physically and metaphorically, yet he remained helpless to stop it.
When the backs of his knees met his bed, Adrien merely allowed himself to fall, landing on the mattress with a final sounding thump.
Marinette gazed down at him intently, looking like the cat that got the canary.
“Adrien,” she said, her voice nothing but saccharine sweetness as she leaned into his space. At this distance her scent was nearly overwhelming in its intensity, filling his senses and leaving his mind hazy and punch drunk. “I think it's time to take things to the next level.”
Adrien’s heart was pounding so loudly now that he was almost certain Marinette would be able to hear it if she listened closely.
His voice came out strangled as he repeated. “The next level?”
Marinette drew even closer and Adrien swayed forward, all of his rational, higher-thinking processes abandoning him as his gaze darted between her eyes and her lips.
If I just leaned up ever so slightly…
They were so close now that he could practically feel her inhalation more than hear it, the warmth of her breath fanning across his face.
Yet, instead of kissing him as he’d hoped, Marinette opened her mouth to speak. And when her words finally registered, Adrien couldn’t help but wish that she hadn’t.
“I need you to help me seduce your brother,” she said, blissfully unaware that she’d just dealt him the verbal equivalent of a killing blow.
Well, it’s official, Adrien thought, staring at her in disbelief as he felt his fantasies sinking faster than the Hindenburg.
God hates me. That is the only plausible explanation for any of this shit.

Here's the thing, Felix is problematic yes but I didn't mind it??? It even made his character more interesting to me???
Some of it (like him trying to kiss ladybug) was just ew, but most of it was amazing??? He's basically the curious cat Adrian was supposed to be. Since he entered the story and stirred the pot, the show has been pushed forward so much!!!
He found out about everything happening in the Agreste mansion, was deeply horrified by most of it and at the end made a deeply selfish decision that benefits him. He then used his miraculous to go on a fucking power trip with a dance number to boot. And he's the fanon favorite to pit against any character as a competent, smart and classy opponent, no Lila dumb down magic or Chloe daddy's influence required.
He's awful but he's fun awful.
He is!
I have watched some clips of him, really only his intro ep, and yeah, he was really fun. it was the first time in a while I was having a blast watching a character on this show. I do think part of it is that he's the official first "mean boy" to come in, as a lot of the guys are sweet and charming, they do have their moments but it's not usually acknowledged to be an issue. Felix immediately sets that tone though of being an antagonist and not supposed to like him (which he's such a breath of fresh air, he was pretty enjoyable as a character).
Yeah, I wasn't crazy about him trying to kiss Ladybug without consent, but unfortunately that's something we just can't get away from given that Chat does try to move to kiss LB without consent, it's probably something Felix did in the PV days, and it's something older concept Marinette has tried to do as well.
Tumblr media
But yeah, he also progressed things that no one has been able to do in 4 seasons, specifically Adrien who lives with the show's villain and discovered a Miraculous related book but never questions it. Come on, Adrien, what are you doing with your life?
So Felix progressing things was appreciated.
But there were a few things I didn't like.
One was canon Felix bringing in the concept of the feather babies, I really don't like the concept of the sentikids, especially with how they went about it. Given that Emilie we knew for sure was the only one using the Peafowl to make sentis, for a period of time, I was actually afraid of the possibility that Adrien and Kagami were going to technically be siblings as they came from the same creator. Also I got the impression that Emilie made herself twins, picked her favorite of the two, and passed the other onto her sister.
With nothing being clear on the feather babies for a while, there was so much "I don't like this" I was feeling.
Two were his actions in the s4 finale. Now, I didn't watch it, it's just based on what I've heard, which didn't include anything of his reasoning (if it was even given), but I felt it really clashed against Felix based around his first few eps, and defining him as a smart, clever character.
So Felix is defined by having a dislike of Gabriel, which is understandable given that Gabriel is an ass, didn't attend his brother-in-law's funeral and show support to extended family, and refused to hand back the family heirlooms that it sounds like Emilie just took and made to be their wedding rings. And then Felix finds out that Gabriel is HM, who threatens Felix and his family.
So, defining Felix to be smart and disliking Gabriel, does he:
A. Approach Ladybug/the heroes about this, as the enemy of my enemy is my friend, and it could be a quick way of getting Gabriel handled, or Felix could potentially get a Miraculous out of this given Ladybug has a record of handing out Miraculous and she gave one to freaking Chloe of all people despite nearly causing a train accident.
B. Make a very stupidly reckless deal with Gabriel, trading 15 Miraculous that he probably has limited knowledge on what they can do over for 1, which Gabriel will know he has, and just hold faith that Gabriel will not come after Felix with his 16 Miraculous to reclaim the one that is pretty OP and useful and he knows where it's located.
Hearing that Felix does B was very baffling. Especially as he does this after Gabriel has threatened him and has a magical jewelry to power him and have an edge over Felix, what Felix logically should do is find his own Miraculous ally or get a means to have a Miraculous himself to even the odds.
His best bet is with Ladybug, which I will say, she probably wouldn't trust him, but she's the safer option than believing he can make a deal with Gabriel and believing that Gabriel will keep his word. Which I know it seems like Gabriel catches Felix when he tries to steal the two brooches, which if that's when a deal was made, I would probably vote having Felix act as a double agent. Ease in the idea that he's going to help the heroes, but right now, the villain has a literal blade over his head.
Also, I feel like his actions done in the s4 finale, make a lot more sense if it was Lila. Lila who actually has a grudge against Ladybug and works with HM. It would be in her own interest to get HM those Miraculous, not Felix.
While I don't get the impression Felix has a grudge/dislikes Ladybug, even if he did, it just doesn't make sense for him to help Gabriel over her when she could be his greatest ally against his uncle.
I think he was a great and needed inclusion the first few eps, but s4 fianle and from what I hear s5, he wound up dropping the ball as a character. At least for me.

definitely! but what kind largely depends on the DR, i think. i only have one miraculous DR listed on my pinned, but i have several kicking around in my head. so i'll just give you all of my headcanons! keep in mind i stopped watching the actual show a long time ago lmao
case #1: adrien and julian
despite adrien actually being older, julian acts older. adrien is still very much in the mindset of "i want to make my father proud!" and julian is kind of trying to act as a better role model for adrien to aspire to.
julian frequently dyes his hair loud colours and pierced his septum against parental consent (this is actually how he got the bull miraculous, which is a nose ring. master fu is the one who pierced julian's nose).
adrien wants to be a good role model for julian, and julian does want to look up to him to some extent, but their dynamic is very complicated considering how differently they feel about their father.
julian has wayyy more freedom than adrien (mostly because last time gabriel said no to something, julian pierced his septum. adrien would never).
julian models casual lineups for gabriel, and adrien models business and formal stuff. julian would have a lot more fun modelling for marinette though, since his style just doesn't match gabriel at all, and would probably completely turn on gabriel fashion as a company for one chocolate chip cookie. he absolutely fucks with marinette's ideas though- especially anything inspired by jagged stone.
despite looking like he would listen to emo or punk rock music -which he definitely does- he also hardcore vibes to taylor swift and other pop songs. once he stops doing things exclusively to piss off gabriel (i.e. once gabriel is dead) he gets into indie music and everything about him completely softens. he's a huge puppy dog.
julian gets perms. he also wears glasses (his father prefers him in contacts and makes him wear them for photoshoots).
adrien and julian are often forced to go to galas. their father doesn't attend with them. julian only goes if he can bring a friend, otherwise nathalie will have to drag a ragdoll julian into the car, and then julian lays on the floor of wherever the gala is until nathalie drags his ragdoll ass back home again. it's just a really bad look for the agrestes, honestly.
julian doesn't like felix. felix loves him like a brother. sometimes felix pretends to be adrien just so julian will tolerate him for a day. truthfully, julian doesn't like felix because he sees a lot of the things he doesn't like about himself in felix. he doesn't want to end up like that.
case #2: emilie's fertility treatments
this DR/AU stems from the popular headcanon that adrien is a sentimonster (did they make this canon??) because emilie had trouble conceiving- except instead of using dark magic, emilie just went to a fertility clinic like a normal person.
this resulted in five kids- the triplets (adrien, chase, and beau), and the twins (julian and emmy).
emilie was super excited to have all these kids, but died pretty promptly after the twins were born, so now they're all gabriel's problem.
adrien is the sweet summer child we all know him to be, and julian is of course julian.
emmy is julian's twin sister, and the only agreste girl. she's sporty and she's fun, and she's always nice to everyone. she and abby would be good friends!
chase is like adrien if adrien was kind of a dick. like, chase isn't actually rude or mean or anything, but he has sort of that energy to him where he probably would have been a bully in middle school and then grown out of it later in life. that is, if he ever went to school.
chase is a full-time model, and honestly has no interest in doing anything different. he's a nepo baby at it's finest. the only reason he would ever go to school is to make friends his age, but the condition of that would be keeping his grades up. besides, chase and chloe actually are good friends.
beau on the other hand is super interested in learning, but has no interest in making friends. he's extremely introverted and prefers to work on his own. he also doesn't go to public school.
adrien and chase are both models. beau is not. when he was little, gabriel tried to get them in triplet photoshoots and beau bit him. chase thought it was funny and considered also biting gabriel, but he actually likes all the attention he gets from modelling so he didn't.
adrien likes to braid emmy's hair. he learned to do a bunch of intricate styles so she could feel pretty even while they're not modelling.
emmy and chase model sports clothing, adrien and emmy model formal, business, and casual clothing, and again, julian models the most casual lineups.
gabriel cannot force all five kids to go, especially with no handler adult present. adrien, emmy, and chase go. sometimes julian goes just because he wants to bring me with him to impress me lmao 😭.
bonus: general headcanons, applicable to any miraculous DR
gabriel is a natural brunet. his hair is just white because he's old.
nathalie is working with gabriel because she's in love with emilie, not actually gabriel himself.
adrien views nathalie as his stepmom because he thinks she's in love with gabriel (gabriel also thinks this, but they're both wrong).
gabriel handed the butterfly miraculous down to lila because he views her as an apprentice. not quite like a daughter, because he does actively akumatize her and let her be in danger frequently, but he views adrien as a mirror of emilie and lila as a mirror of himself, and wants to be able to live vicariously through them. it's really weird and messed up.
hot take- i feel like emilie also wouldn't have been all that great of a parent. adrien is super attached to her obviously, but she would have been super fake and treated her kids more like accessories or therapists than kids. so, marginally better than gabe, but... still a pretty fucked up dynamic.
adrien has dimples, which he inherited from emilie. felix also has dimples, which he inherited from amelie. the only differences between them physically are that felix is slightly paler and adrien's hair has a slight wave to it that felix's doesn't have naturally. felix is also ever so slightly taller- only about a half-inch. only marinette and kagami can spot these differences.
this is either way more than you were expecting or not what you were looking for, but i had fun writing it!

so i posted for sharks and sugar yesterday! let’s go over some of the lore together, because some of you aren’t in the discord server (and this knowledge has been buried for a year or so, now)
let’s talk about luka and felix 🥰
felix is PV felix but my version of PV :)
i headcanon that the graham-de-vanillas are brazilian, which makes adrien half brazilian too. so they’re slightly tanner than in canon, which is why i always write adrien’s skin as “tan” or sometimes even “brown” (i do that in other au’s too). felix is a dirty-blonde, almost brown haired, and box-dyes into the platinum blonde that he actually has in the pv. kitty helps him dye it :) either her or luka.
emilie is (was) a globo actress along with her sister, and the two of them got really famous. gabriel met her when she went to a fashion week in paris as a guest, and ended up becoming his muse. it’s kind of like a tom brady / giselle situation if you squint. i imagine emilie is (was) as famous as giselle.
i’m actually not sure what to do, because i’m torn about making felix adrien’s cousin or adrien’s uncle. this makes no difference in the end of it all, but considering that emilie and amilie are twins and emilie died(?) relatively young, that would theoretically be difficult for felix to be in his 30s. i did the math at some point and i’m too lazy to redo it. i’ll sit on this some more. but i do like the idea of just a little brother who decided to go to college in paris and got to house at his older sisters house for a bit. that’s super normal in brazil.
felix is married to bridgette cheng (surprise) who is marinette’s cousin, and met her as an exchange student in college. her cousin is in her late 30s, so to tease her with her age, sometimes marinette will call her “auntie”. i’m imagining that felix stayed with gabriel and emilie for a few semesters before being inhaled by the cheng family, so he was there for adrien’s birth.
ever since emilie passed away / whatever it is, gabriel has been no-contact with anyone on her side of her family. even before then, gabriel didn’t like felix being there (europeans are very different than brazilians in terms of family politics), so he was pushed out pretty early. adrien doesn’t remember any of it because he was a toddler. adrien does remember he has an uncle felix… i was going to put a dialogue tag somewhere in this chapter where adrien mentions he has an uncle named felix, but again, i couldn’t decide if he’s an uncle or a cousin, so i left that out.
felix has been trying to get back in contact with his cousin/nephew ever since gabriel pushed him out of the house, but it’s been impossible.
felix and bridgette have a daughter together. she’s a toddler. her name is antonietta, which is the portuguese version of antoinette. felix calls his baby ‘nietta.
felix knows that marinette is lady noire, because he’s a part of the cheng family and the chengs know that they take care of the miraculous box. he calls her “gatta-porrada”, which is the equivalent of “hitty-kitty”. i headcanon this because this is probably the superhero name he suggested to her when she found out that she had the cat miraculous, not the ladybug, and it was probably the only thing that made her laugh that week after sobbing so much her ears were ringing. it is the lamest superhero name. he is so proud of being the only person in the family to make her laugh even for a little bit.
felix, however, does not know that adrien is mister bug.
luka does.
luka finds out in a situation such as wishmaker where he finds out both of their identities at the same time, and keeps quiet, but let’s them both know about the issue. luka and marinette and juleka are childhood best friends (exactly the same lore as 4am) so if adrien hadn’t existed in her life, luka and marinette would’ve been endgame. the two of them are impossible. felix takes care of luka juleka and kitty as if he’s a responsible tio. luka makes sure to pull marinette out of situations she can’t handle. marinette is just there to cause continuous problems.
adrien is really grateful that luka knows. at least someone does. luka also knows that lady noire has been sneaking into adrien’s bedroom practically every night, because marinette has told him. and adrien has, too. just in case.
i think that’s everything 🫣
