Love the energy of the new doctor who episodes, love Ncuti Gatwa's charisma and the show's willingness to take risks. That being said I'm a bit sad we don't seem to be getting the old character focus of the og RTD seasons. I really like Millie Gibson's performance but on a script level Ruby Sunday doesn't feel like a real person to me. What drives her, what are her flaws, what's her socioeconomic background and how does that inform her behaviour, what are the unlikable parts of her, what does she want most? What's her relationship to her mother like beyond aspirationally and non-specifically positive? How does she dress when she's just sitting around at home? What might she butt heads with the doctor about???

Some more advice for fellow adults: set your ego aside and let younger people (even kids!) educate and teach you. There is no shame in looking to a younger person for education and knowledge. It is, actually, a big facet of humanity that we teach each other - why, then, does that teacher need to be the Right Age in order for you to be willing to learn from them?
#youth liberation#adultism#i'm looking to a younger person to teach me about crochet and it's actually FINE#it's actually not an attack on Your Ego that a young person is more knowledgeable about something or possesses a talent at a level you dont!#and personally i like learning from younger people because they tend to be kind and PASSIONATE about what they are talented at!#like the young person i'm learning crochet from has this super bubbly and energetic personality and that's MOTIVATING me#and it feels less like they're just dictating crochet at me and more like we're equals sharing a passion and a craft#and THAT is what makes people want to learn. THAT is what will keep people engaged and motivated even when it gets tough#frankly it's just... kind of a red flag to me when somebody devalues younger people SO MUCH that they REFUSE to listen or learn from them#it's just... arrogance and cruelty for the sake of cruelty in my eyes

GAH i love this sm angel thank u for giving me an excuse to talk about art donaldson’s music taste
younger art— typical boyish indie/rock sleaze. i think he’d be into radiohead, the smiths, the strokes, elliot smith, pink floyd, gorillaz, etc. and secret britney spears enjoyer (patrick caught him listening to ‘gimme more’ on his blackberry one (1) time and never let him live it down). i think The Beatles and the Bee Gees would also be thrown into the mix pretty regularly.
older art— toned wayy down. much more melancholic songs when he’s working out or cooking or reading at home. i could see him listening to bon iver, sufjan stevens, etc. but he definitely listens to throwbacks from his earlier tennis career when he’s training on the courts. classic rock, alt rock, some pop. he’s become properly domesticated so his music taste has as well for the most part. i think he listens to “To Love Somebody” by the Bee Gees sometimes and cries (he thinks about tashi and his daughter).
i feel like he’d have pretty eclectic taste all around.

Thank you! My main advice would be to make them as boxy as possible and always use their goofiest in game sprites as reference

Finished the Royal Centibytes, in both pre- and post-conversion flavors!
I thought court jesters would be a fun change of pace from king/queen or prince/princess- there's a precedent for royals to occasionally be things like heralds and war(?)horses, and I wanted to make a royalgirl who isn't a princess, noblewoman, or queen. I got to learn a little about some historical female court jesters while looking for references, which was cool!
I agonized for a while over whether I should put eyelashes on the one that I arbitrarily assigned 'Royalgirl', but ended up deciding that they look cute.
#i'm happy with these but i feel like the proportions got away from me a bit#i was so focused with getting clear and energetic poses that fit all the limbs in that i kind of lost their lankiness#i think its partially the struggle of working with something i designed in 2018 that doesn't fit well into a 150x150 box#the lenny is also tall and gets away with leaving a lot of negative space in its circle/happy poses while not losing clarity#but its head is less complicated to draw on a small scale; there's less detail to lose#i could try to fuck with more extreme perspectives to get things to fit without sacrificing the proportions. like g1 pokemon sprites#well. that's enough outta me#my art#centibytes#neopets#i'll update my webbed site with them in a bit; i wanna eat lunch

we just finished choreographing way down hadestown and OMG i get a swing dance solo at the front of the stage with another guy and im at the very front sm IM SO EXCITED
#that means i’m a pretty good dancer or at presst good and acting and being energetic#bc the choreographer was making a huge point that ppl with energy get in the front#AND IM DOING RLLY GOOD AND IM FEELING RLLY CONFIDENT AHHHH#today was so fun but im so tired and sweaty i need a shower
