‘Sleepy?’ Steve murmurs, smiling down at him. 

Eddie swallows and blinks slowly, brain not really processing what Steve just asked. He clears his throat. Is he tired? He slept pretty well last night so, not really. He does feel relaxed though. 

Eddie blinks again, looking up at Steve. His bed backs onto the rooms little window and Steve refuses to get proper curtains for them. Instead keeping the light white lacy ones that were left from the elderly couple who lived here before. They let so much light through it would send Eddie insane, but the soft sort of shimmer that glows across Steve’s cheek and shoulders now, it’s pretty. 

Steve really is so pretty. Eddie sighs, shifts deeper into the beds soft sheets. A really pretty guy, person. 

Eddie knows this already, obviously. But, it feels different. Eddie thinks he’d crawl on all fours for Steve right now without even batting an eye. 

Its kind of always been like that for him and pretty people though, ever willing to do anything for a bit of attention. But it’s never felt like this, never felt quite this intense. 

Steve ask Eddie to open wide again, getting the other side of his teeth with the floss. Then he gently probes at each tooth’s gum with his finger. Eddie watches the curve of Steve’s eyebrow as he focuses. Eyelids so slow to blink and brain a soupy sort of fog, no thoughts up there. Eddie thinks it’s okay, Steve’s bed has always been the most comfortable. He has the nicest sheets. Eddie nods. 

Steve slides his legs out from under the pillow, padding out of the room, taking off his gloves and Eddie hears the fridge open. 

Its colder without Steve here. Weird. He misses Steve. Wants him to come back. Maybe Eddie does feel kinda of strange actually, he wants Steve back touching his jaw. He feels so cold, like his chest is caving in.

‘Steve?’ He calls trying to sit up but his body isn’t cooperating. His mind not able to think through the fuzz. His hands trembling a little. 

Steve comes back in, holding water and a granola bar. ‘Hey, hey Eddie I’m here. You’re okay.’ And sits down close, wrapping Eddie up in his arms. 

‘Feel weird.’ Eddie mumbles, gripped Steve’s shoulders tight and fisting his soft t-shirt. 

‘S’okay, let’s go sit on the couch yeah? Watch a movie.’ Steve says gently, rocking Eddie a little. He should maybe be embarrassed but it feels so much better to have Steve close that he doesn’t care. Doesn’t want Steve to go far again. 

Eddie nods and stands up, making sure to keep hold of Steve’s arm, hugging it close as he leads them into the living room and onto their worn sofa. 

Steve lays down first and pulls Eddie by their still linked fingers to settle between his thighs, Eddie’s face in Steve’s neck until he’s ready to come out. Making him take sips of water every few minutes, sharing bites of granola bar and stroking Eddie’s hair.

I (19m) just broke up with my boyfriend (18m) of over one and a half years last night.

He's always dumbfounded by the "I know!" Response he got back. Sure, there was generosity... But you were either just.. Stupid or had no sense of value to anything. He just sort of... Questions your sanity a bit.

Honestly, he finds it pretty damn endearing. He doesn't really need anything, but the way you just give anything up to anyone in need truly inspires him.

It's also a little concerning-. Like... You need to take care of yourself, please start putting yourself before other people. You're just as important as others.

He definitely feels bad everytime you're left on chair. You're the type of person to give the shirt of your back to someone in need, so how is it fair that you always get sent back?

He definitely gives back to you in some way. Maybe he slides you some of his own food when he's not hungry to make sure you're getting properly fed, or bodyblock you so you quite literally can't sacrifice yourself without wasting precious time and energy. Hehe, sneaky novelist.

🌿 𝐄𝐦𝐦𝐚 𝐖𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐬 🌿

This girl finds it a little funny that you're always getting sent back to the manor. It's not anything too bad.. It's just an instinct for you to throw yourself into danger so she can escape. It's pretty sweet..

She's also pretty self sacrificing herself. So you know that one picture where it's this couple being held at gun point and they keep going 'noo' to protect each other? Yeah that's you two.. It's all pretty light hearted though.

Does not forget to show you love for all the things you do for her. Flowers litter your room, attempted meals made by her showcase her appreciation and lots of affection. She truly does appreciate you.

She knows you can be pretty self sacrificial so she's often trying to help you out by disabling chairs before you can actually get chaired. This gives you a small opportunity to self heal and RUN.

Listen. He loves you. But oh my gOD. He does all of those rescues FOR NOTHING. CAN YOU AT LEAST TRY TO STAY OUT OF DANGER BECAUSE YOU ARE ON YOUR LAST CHAIR AND HE ABSOLUTELY WILL LEAVE YOU HERE.

He appreciates any food you give him. But, he will often half the food you do give to him. Like, if you slyly slip a loaf of bread suddenly onto his place, expect to enjoy half of it with him. He knows what it's like to go hungry and he doesn't want you to experience that.

No matter how many times you frustrate him to hell and back with your absolutely generosity and kindness, he can't help but admire that about you. The world is filled with assholes of every degree, you make this manor a little more tolerable.. Sometimes.

He can also be kind of self sacrificing due to his time in the army, so he will also do his best to make sure you're in tip top shape, but he will indulge in your kindness as some sort of guilty pleasure for the mercenary

“Okay,” Eddie mumbles. He takes the tub of ice cream from his son and places it in the overfull basket. Then he puts the basket on the ground. He pulls Christopher into a hug. “I’m sorry, Chris. I’m sorry it happened this way.”

Vaguely, Eddie is aware they’re having this conversation in the frozen dairy aisle of a grocery store. Not, like, a therapist’s office. Which is what he might have preferred. But, fuck it. Chris is ready to talk. 

“It made me sad for you,” Chris blubbers. 

“For me?” Eddie asks.

“Yes, you, Dad!!” Chris snaps. “Because I always had you to make me feel better, but who did you ever have? Did you ever feel okay?”

Eddie is shaking a little.

“You don’t have to worry about that, Chris.”

“But I am.” 

Fuck. Fuck, Eddie doesn’t know how to fix this. He doesn’t know what to do. It’s like Christopher’s brain has matured a big lunging step forward over the summer and he’s seeing Eddie as a whole person and Eddie doesn’t know what to do with that. He’s not supposed to be something Chris worries about. 

“Christopher,” Eddie says. “I… Okay, maybe you’re right. Maybe I’ve spent a lot of my life feeling kind of bad about myself. But I’ve got Buck and Bobby and lots of friends that help me. I’ve got you. Being your dad makes me so happy, okay? So you don’t need to worry about this.”

Christopher makes a small, frustrated noise. “And-and I’m working on it, okay?” Eddie reminds him. “I’m working on feeling better about myself, and who I really am, and not… Not hiding. And it’s going to be better. It’s all going to be better, and it won’t be like this forever, okay?”

“Mine?” Buck asks. 

“Mine are in the laundry.” Eddie says. “Sorry, I can go home and grab more.”

“No, no, no,” Buck blurts. He doesn’t want him to stress or think he broke some sort of boundary. “You look good in my sweater.”

ooh this is a good one to...remind me of good things going on in my life right now, orz. not the easiest at the moment but

Writing is still going very slowly (more slowly than I would like), but last month I wrote the most in terms of word count that I have so far this year, and almost as much as in December despite the fact that I didn't have as much time off.

I'm really enjoying watching @ameliarating play Baldur's Gate 3 over her shoulder.

I'm planning on starting going swimming once a week, which is going to be a bit of a challenge to start but should be really good for me once I get in the habit.

while I think to start with Xue Yang hates Song Lan to absolute shreds after Xiao Xingchen dies, over time that changes and he gets increasingly attached to him, even though Song Lan doesn't, you know, have much of a personality at the time. He treats him sort of like he does, though, and by the time Wei Wuxian frees him Xue Yang sort of considers Song Lan his best friend, weirdly. Like, he's a science experiment but he's also a friend. It's the kind of relationship that only works if you're Xue Yang. The weirder thing is that it's not entirely one-sided.

⇢ what's the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project?

it's not that weird, but there was the time I had someone dig me up the translation of Ovid that existed in the 16th century for Lymond fic so that I could accurately quote what the English translation of a particular line would look like. Or maybe it was even more specific than that and I wanted to know what the Latin would look like, I don't exactly remember. I know it was specific. Most of the weirdly specific things I've researched for fic are Lymond-related and have to do with primary sources I'm borrowing quotations from.

⇢ share some personal wisdom or a life hack you swear on

I'm much better at giving advice than taking it - I know all kinds of things I should be doing that would make my life better but actually implementing them is, uh, another story. But I guess if I were to try to think of something that I actually do do that I try to implement in my own life, maybe I'd say it's getting a little bit of an attitude of "do it anyway." It's sort of like the "do it scared" thing but it also includes things like "I'm tired" or "I don't think anyone will like this" or "I don't know if I like this" and sometimes the thing to do is just. Do it anyway.

Maybe this comes out of my knowing that my brain and my emotions are inherently skewed and unreliable and so if I didn't have that attitude it would get in the way of me doing much of anything.

⇢ what's your favourite type of comment to receive on your work?

I feel like this is probably a common answer, but definitely I love a comment that does some kind of analysis/commentary on specific aspects of a work. it's not common, or anything, but I thrive on comments that take my work seriously in some way as worth lingering on things like word choice or what a particular excerpt says about characterization, or stuff like that. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside.

my favorite? my absolute favorite? ever?? I don't even know how to choose. I guess if I'm picking one out of the many, many works of fanart that I love (seriously, there's so many), I might have to go with this commission I got from @yutaan. 😴: How do you deal with writers block? Or, do you ever put a story aside for a while when things aren't working?

I just stop writing until it comes back. Sometimes I stress over it but after like ten minutes I get over that stress and just leave the story alone until it comes back to me. Some times it’ll take a few hours, others weeks if not months. But writers block always goes away with a little bit of time!

❤️‍🩹: Do you like to have happy endings in stories?Bittersweet?

As much as I love a happy ending, bittersweet endings actually makes me feel something. Even better if the story ends in a major character death or some sort of tragedy. Happy endings are definitely nice but if I’m reading something because I want something to matter? I have to go with bittersweet to just plain tragic

💭: How do you come up with your story ideas?

Do you like prompts? Do you like visual pictures for inspo or written dialogues?

Music. Give me some earbuds and an hour long playlist and I guarantee you I’ll be able to come up with an entire story right then and there. I have something in the works that’s inspired by “We Become We” from Journey to Bethlehem!

I actually hate prompts. Sometimes it might work but I more often than not hit a block because of how rigid it is, even if I can tweak it however I like. I need to feel a connection with whatever I write and prompts unfortunately don’t give me the connection that I get from ideas that come from myself.

I prefer written dialogue but the occasional visual helps me out from time to time. With dialogue I can hear the way and tone things are said myself, leaving it to my interpretation which I generally enjoy more than others and can eventually become a great inspiration! But music will always be my number 1 for that

🦷: Any world building details you love to include in writing from the original source? Or for original writers--what's a WB detail that has been most fun to work with?

For the Avatar the Last Airbender fic I’m working on, a lot of what is generally my own that I make up. But I do enjoy how easily and neatly the geography is and that’s pretty fun to add in!

For City Spies, I unfortunately haven’t worked with that nearly as much as daydream about them so I can’t say really

Walk away! Your brain might be tired. When this happens, I end just taking a break. Sometimes I even read my favorite books/series to sort of clear my head and reset. Don’t force it!

Natural confidence truly comes from faking it until you make it. I decided one day to project that I was unflappable and self assured and before long, I found myself truly feeling that way. Maybe some of that is age, too, but truly, it’s amazing how easily you slip into that mindset if you force yourself to be in it.

Truly all of them — but I really, REALLY love when people point out specific things they liked/scenes/lines that stuck with them. Writing is an agonizing process, and there’s always an undercurrent of “how will this translate to the audience”/“will someone notice this detail?” And when people do, it’s just the best thing.

So please, if you’ve read something you liked — try and tell the author what parts you enjoyed!!

Toby 🥽 anon - He's been supportive. I still don't really know what to think of him, but he's nice. I like that he's around.

006 - ...I'm not sure how to feel. They're... nice...? Something about them just makes me feel unsafe. Like some bad memory. But that might not be true.

Now… Aesop has a pretty soft voice himself. It's pretty difficult to hear him, if at all, in a crowded room, so he'd very much appreciate a partner who is similar. 

Even if there was cannons going off, fireworks exploding just above his head, the screaming of a Banshee in the room. He'd somehow be able to hear your lovely voice no matter what. He's always attentive to your words, not just because of how soft you sound, but because he genuinely cares for what you have to say. 

Due to auditory problems from his autism, he can be pretty picky with what he wants to hear. Loud noises make him jump and flinch, he hates the loudness, so… the fact your voice can bring him a soothing mellow emotion is something he's so eternally thankful for. 

Whenever you talk, he just goes silent. Not that talks in the first place, but he just loves honing in on your voice. The way you pronounce words. The way you laugh about his awkward silence. It makes his eyes glisten with such fondness. 

And don't even get me started if you hum or sing to him. 

Oh my GOSH. He'd be so enamored. 

The first time he heard it? Could've sworn he was falling in love all over again.. Without the embalming thoughts. 

Whenever it's the two of you, and you're humming? He starts to quietly hum along as well. You two are very, very good singers. Perfect harmony. 

Although, he doesn't mind listening to you sing. It's something you like doing and it's something he likes to hear as well. 

Why is he floating-

🟢 𝐍𝐀𝐈𝐁 𝐒𝐔𝐁𝐄𝐃𝐀𝐑 🟢

Your voice is one of his favorite things about you. 

With all the pure unadulterated rage he feels in that war torn body he has, somehow the utter symphony of your words quiet himself down a bit. 

If you're talking and can't be heard? Expect a loud

"EVERYONE, SHUT THE HELL UP. Y/N WANTS TO SAY SOMETHING! !..." *vaguely gestures to you to speak*

You are definitely the soft spot to him. He tries to hide it but when he pulls shit like that, yeah everyone knows. 

When he's having a PTSD attack, there's nothing more soothing than you lulling him back into reality. His 100 mile stare can make him seem as if he's not all there anymore, but a gentle word in his ear and an even gentler squeeze of the hand can help slowly help him gain awareness. 

If he's having more of a … Severe one, yeah one or two cute words won't help him snap out of it quickly. You're gonna have to pull him out of it a lot more. But, if you can handle that (without getting too close because YOU WILL get punched), then he's forever indebted to you. 

And holy shit. When you sing? 

He thought he had died for a minute and some sort of angel or saint was guiding him back home. 

It had to be. There's no way someone sounds THAT good. 

Unlike Aesop, he's not the best singer… like at all. So he'd rather let the professional do it. 

Tip from me to you. Don't ask him to sing. You'll get "..... They call me da Merc… I'm all for the wor-"
