Here's my take for what happens when Vlad prepares to swoop in after an hour or two (he was expecting the experimentations to go on for a while)

Flames and rubble, that was all that was left of the Ghost Investigation Ward base.

He arrived invisibly, intending to prepare how he'd get that little badger out. But it seems now that plan was for nothing.

So behind cover, Vlad turned from Plasmius to Masters and walked onto the scene. Faux concern plastered on his face for the safety of the agents that were heavily wounded as he prepared to learn how that boy broke out.

Then he saw Maddie, Jack, and Valerie were also heavily wounded. Something was not right.

His faux concern broke into genuine concern, a bit for Maddie (and he won't admit a little less for Jack and Valerie) but most concerned was for Danny. This wasn't like him, the amount of injuries on them were completely out of character.

That's when he noticed something laying in the center of the destruction. Something that made his own half heart stop.

It was half a human heart, leaking a mixture of red blood and green ectoplasm.

No.

No, no, no, no, no-!

This wasn't what was supposed to happen! This was wrong! All wrong!

They didn't! They.. they actually did not do exactly what he was afraid of right now!

With some hesitation, he lifted the halfa's heart with no concern for the green and red stains it left behind. Vlad then turned to everyone, feeling the tears running down his face.

"Where's Danny?"

One agent pointed at him and yelled, "Mr. Masters! That heart is leaking ectoplasmic filth! It's dangerous to-"

"Where's Danny!"

Vlad interrupted with a yell of anger, he felt his eyes glowing that familiar pink color of his ghostly energy.

This caused multiple GIW agents who could still stand to point their guns at him, yelling something about him probably being overshadowed and to not let the ghost get away.

Behind him he turned to see both Maddie and Valerie holding her own blasters up with little hesitation. Jack seemed to hesitate the most as he seemingly muttered out, "V-Man?"

But all the energy shots of their weapons reflected off pink shields summoned around Plasmius and back at his various attackers. All to protect the heart of Danny, he knew he could make this right.

"What have you done to him!?"

Vlad looked at Jack and Maddie, who were standing in front of a wounded Valerie continued to keep their weapons locked onto their best friend, and from the look on their faces, they're starting to realize Vlad is the same as Danny.

The halfa then floated into the air a bit, preparing to vanish through the ground to make his getaway. But not before he spoke to his former friends with venom laced in his voice.

"And you all say ghosts are the real monsters. Yet you call ripping open your own son and torturing him justice, just because the boy is half ghost? Despite everything he's done to protect Amity, and help you two specifically, and this is how you pay him back?"

Masters holds the heart out a bit for them to see as Vlad's eyes fully glow pink as he finally turns intangible.

"No wonder he never trusted you enough to tell you."

Maddie and Jack flinch a bit in response before the halfa finally vanishes into the ground. Emerging from the ground not too far away, back as Plasmius.

After he was far enough he looked at the heart, being as incredibly careful with it as possible to keep it intact.

He needed a plan. Perhaps he'll start by asking Sam and Tucker, if anyone is going to keep in contact with Danny when he's in hiding, it would probably be them.

Vlad knows can't undo the mistakes he had a hand in, but he can at least make it all up to the Danny. But first... he needed to find him, and fast.

Franken-Core AU

What if Danny's core was only half a core?

I got this idea from the term "halfa" lol, but I think it would make sense if Danny's core was actually only half and the other half was a half of his actual human heart. It could be like a franken fused half core-half heart. In ghost form he doesn't have human internal organs, the only human thing is his franken core which has a heart half and while in human form, he doesn't have any ghost internal parts save for his franken heart which has a half core.

And as we all know, the core is the most important part of a ghost. Chop off a hand? No probs can reform it. Chop of a leg? That can be reformed too. Cut out the core? That ghost is now a soulless spirit, it's basically double dead. Dead^2 if you will.

But what about a core that's also a heart? Or a heart that's also a core? Well,,,cut out the whole franken heart-core and Danny's also dead^2. But that isn't all there is to it.

What if you cut out the heart part of his core? The GIW's about to find out.

Okay now a dp x dc version of this because I can't resist.

The GIW finally manages to capture Danny with the help of the Red huntress and Vlad may or may not have supplied some equipment to weaken and contain him with the intent of swooping in and "saving" him later. After the GIW gets some experimentation done for maximum hero effect.

Well, the GIW decided to go plus ultra and go for the core immediately. Which for a ghost is a really bad news. And for a half ghost, with a franken heart-core? Really bad news.

And then they dissect him and cut out his heart half.

So what exactly happens to halfas that dont have a heart? It turns into a constantly destabilizing, terrifying vengeful eldritch of course!

The GIW tries to contain him, but fail. Red Huntress and the Fentons team up too, but it doesn't matter cause Danny flattens them too. In the end, Jazz is the one who captures him via souping him in the thermos.

In front of everyone.

Everyone who wants the thermos so that they can continue experimenting on her little brother.

No way in hell she's going to let that happen.

And so Jazz hightails it to her car and drives until they can't find either of them anymore. She doesn't stop driving until she runs out of gas.

She runs out in Gotham City.

Meanwhile Batman sees a redheaded homeless girl while patrolling and is wondering why she's holding an unearthly glowing thermos.

Names are censored for obv privacy reasons and I don't want to put any of my own readers on blast because I trust comments like these are made with good intention. I appreciate y'all for loving what I do here and putting it out there for others to read along, but I don't do it for this. As much as Rekindled is indeed a parody redraw of LO that's trying to "fix" a lot of the original comic's issues, at the end of the day it's still just a Tumblr project that I'm doing here for fun and I don't want to see it used as ammunition in the comments sections dedicated specifically to LO (for clarification, this was in the @webtoonofficial announcement post for LO winning its third Eisner).

Whether or not it's "better" than LO is subjective and irrelevant. I obviously can't pretend like I didn't have my own motivations to "fix" what I felt was broken, but the act of "fixing" was for those of us who saw it as broken, not for those who love LO as is.

I also can't reasonably ask anyone to keep their opinions about Rekindled to themselves, it's a piece of work that is publicly available and therefore that will put it under the lens of public opinion, but from me to you, this ain't the way. I host it on Tumblr and DH precisely to keep it out of the main view of the fans/stans, because this work isn't for them, it's for all of you who share my disappointment in the original series. I want to be able to run this space free of any extreme fandom discourse - this is also why you won't see me using general LO tags on Tumblr/IG - but the only way that can happen is if we all play nice and don't let the heat of the discourse get to us. Rest assured, I will always stand by my work and what I do here because I love it and have found my lost joy in what LO used to mean to me through it as well as a community of amazing writers and creators... but prevention is better than the cure and I don't want any of that heat getting thrown back my way through weaponizing of my work with or without my knowing in the first place.

Am I pissed about the comic's third win? Absolutely. And as much as I feel it isn't worth anyone's time or energy to get into bickering matches with the stans in these comment sections, those opinions regarding the comic pre-exist my participation in this fandom and would have, one way or another, hit that boiling point regardless (and it's been wild to watch that comment section go down, I can't lie lmao) But this is not the way. Rekindled is - to me, and hopefully to you, too - a reclaiming of the love and passion people like myself used to have for LO, and a celebration of Greek myth and transformative fiction as a genre, above everything else it stands for or could be interpreted as. It's not a weapon meant to be used in discourse. Let's please do our best to be mindful of that so we can keep having fun in this special little space we've carved for ourselves and not make ourselves into the monsters we're often made out to be just for critically discussing and transforming a piece of media that, in spite of all its flaws, brought us together in the way that it did. Let's keep being the best for each other instead of turning ourselves into the worst over others within this massive fandom who we were never going to agree with in the first place.

Hi hi! So I’ve been outlining a Video Essay to inspect Outlast’s portrayal of the relationship between US capitalism and queerness (along with immigration/xenophobia due to Trials coming up) and…

…I was initially going to keep it private within my IG circle, but after spending hours searching up academic articles and master’s theses discussing heteronormativity and social theory—as well as revisiting textbooks from the few philosophy and gender/racial studies courses I took from university—I’ve decided that I’d like to share here also!

It’s in the process, but I want to put a lot of care into it since JT Petty’s writing is incredibly interesting to me, while also dissecting the material from a brown, queer perspective and being someone who was born/raised in the US from a family of immigrants. (I’m not trying to push an “agenda”, but I think my background is a pretty good reflection of where my values lie lol). Another reason I’m putting a lot of care into this is because I understand that the franchise’s narratives and stories get into intensely heavy topics/themes, and it would pain me if I were to misinterpret and/or cast certain plots in such a way that is unfair, ignorant, harmful, and overall awful.

Because of this, I’d like to open up this post and my DMs to any constructive conversation surrounding these themes in the games/comics! I’ll be posting questions & argument points gradually so feel free to wait to discuss in the specifics in those.

A huge reason I’m doing this is because a lot of people who know me irl know I hyperfixate on this franchise, and I fear that their surface level interpretation of that would just be chalked up to me liking/endorsing f-ed up stuff (which I adamantly say is NOT the case—I think we all know that a dissection of horrors and traumatic events can be therapeutic and empowering). With the video essay, I want to explain that my hyperfixation is related to the nuanced themes in the narratives, especially regarding gender/queerness and social theory.

Plus it’s been a while since I’ve written something in an academic-style with citations, peer analysis, etc.! I forget how enriching it can be.

I’ll admit that I’m not a very opinionated person (and I think I tend to error on being critical of my own opinions). My ultimate goal here is to spread empathy and share a wide variety of perspectives from many backgrounds. Additionally, I respect JT Petty for being so daring to tackle heavy/“taboo” themes in film, cinema, etc. and I want to show my appreciation. I’m not necessarily endorsing anything—instead, I’d like to understand the stories as an art, understand it’s intentions, and inspect how it affects different communities.

Plus I think this video essay process will be fun! Idk, I hope this doesn’t come off as self-righteous or anything LOL—or maybe it does so please make fun of me, I need to be humbled.

obviously I’ve been thinking about Catharsis ever since you published and feel free to disregard any of these if you don’t feel like answering them, I just let my brain run wild with questions 😭

1) I know you said Satoru has resorted to paying for uhh release which I’m interpreting as him hiring sex workers for his own needs because he can’t emotionally/physically involve himself with another woman and he can detach himself through that ig. (Pls correct me if i’m wrong though LOL) Has Y/N started seeing anyone in the past three years? Given her last thoughts before she sees Satoru I assume no since she’s letting fate take the wheel in their story but idk Y/N is a baddie so 😭

2) What are Y/N’s thoughts about Satoru after everything that happened? Is she angry at him? Disappointed? Does she miss him? Still love him?

3) Was Satoru searching for her specifically in the town they ran into each other? Or did they happen to just run into each other? I know he has and never would’ve stopped searching for his family but why was he there?

4) Will Y/N’s mom finally beat the shit out of him when he sees them again? That poor woman is probably TIRED OF HIS ASS 😭 I hope she slaps him so hard his mother feels it in her prison cell (i don’t condone violence 😌)

5) Is there a reason she hasn’t trusted Toji with any information? If there was someone she could trust with her and Yui’s safety surely it would be Toji. Maybe she just wasn’t thinking straight and fled before Satoru’s mom could do anything else

1. some tried courting yn but she's focused on working for Yui. and when she gets offered that they'll provide for them, she said she just wants to build herself. in reality, she just doesn't want to try at all. she's starting to feel a little hopeless abt it, esp. w how her mother raised her alone. she felt like no one would fully understand her. maybe when yui reaches legal age, but as long as she's under her care, she just can't afford to have someone who would demand as much attention as she Yui.

2. she's frustrated w him, but she tries to understand that he wasn't even there when it happened. to her, he's simply a son who desperately wanted to believe that his mother could get better after what she did to him. and yeah she's disappointed that he took so long to find them LMAO but she knows that it's bc they actually hid from everyone😭. she left no traces and made it almost impossible for him to find them easily. she definitely missed him🥺

So i was scrolling through the character profiles and it's interesting that ranpo's feels so different to others'.His likes and dislikes feels so,,,,vague?like you have to actually look into his character to try to understand it,not saying others' r all very clear,but they all at least have some things or foods or even ppl in the list,you see it n you think oh cool that character likes cookies.

But his doesnt have things so specific?Not even his glasses,snacks,any hobbies,solving mysteries or praises?ig you can count fantastic tales as an interest?still feel a bit vague to me though...

i assume based off the fact that ranpo has claimed to solve thousands upon thousands of cases that it can become a sort of fixation probably? so that when it comes to his likes/dislikes he immediately thinks of what he likes and doesn’t like in cases? since it’s the biggest factor of his life.

i do agree though, i wish we got more information about him! if i recall correctly his page in the bsd art book(?) stated that in his free time he goes to poe’s house, eats candy, then leaves. just some trivia for you :)

the feelings exaggeration could be from a variety of things. i kind of perceived it as a social cues thing, i thought maybe he was acting this way to make his intentions clear (so people don’t read into everything too much), or maybe it’s just who he is. i also could see what you’re saying with the exaggeration though!!

i can somewhat get what he means by common sense though. since a lot of common sense from my own experiences have most definitely not made full sense to me. things like people saying one thing but meaning another, or acting like something is super obvious when it’s not; much of it is just silly social rules that contradict or don’t make sense all based off calling it common sense.

i’d assume his distaste for common sense would stem from the fact that so many people use common sense to just bend the truth. take the time in untold origins where the theatre director said she would look into getting him a job but ranpo knew she wouldn’t do it. common sense would be to tell the kid she will do it to spare his feelings; but he didn’t catch onto that. things like that. at least that’s how i seen it, i’m completely open to other interpretations as well!

the useless knowledge id assume is just because he doesn’t need to hear it all to understand what’s going on. regular people would need a full explanation to the things he can figure out in seconds, and hearing other people state the facts he knows is probably just boring to him lol.

but yeah, i hope we get more ranpo content soon! he’s in my top 5 bsd characters, i love him a ton!

i assume tachihara’s dislike for teruko’s behaviour is just because she can be super loud and childish in the way she acts. remember the scene where fukuchi talked to tachi and teruko hopped on his shoulders angrily asking why he got the attention instead of her? or the other time he was really surprised she got gillette to confess? probably things like that annoy him lol

🤲what do YOU get out of writing?

I guess it's a couple of things! it's the best outlet I have - I'm not very good at art or much that's 'physically' creative, but writing is something I feel I can do decently, for the most part. that makes it more enjoyable for me as someone who is cursed by the need to chase All The Dopamine All The Time. plus like a lot of other folks, I find it as good a place as any to project/work through my own neuroses in the subtext (or sometimes just the text. it be like that).

as a secondary thing, I also get like... a sense of validation for my younger self out of it? when I was a kid I always had teachers pushing me to write, insisting I should go down the path of studying english lit, etc. it's hard to explain, it was half encouraging and half incredibly stifling; unhealthy levels of critique that other kids weren't getting, all that shit. (it's also the reason I type like this when my actual style of speaking is so much more informal, sorry not sorry.) it burned me out of the idea entirely.

I didn't write anything at all for 4+ years after I left school, and I'm still kinda working through the baggage of it. it's part of the reason I massively over-edit ig. but doing it in my free time now, just for me? it's a good feeling. it feels like a middle finger to that particular part of my life

oh a lot of stuff does lmao. mostly, it's when I get in a massive rut about one scene I'm trying to write. I struggle to write things out of chronological order because of how scattered my brain is at the best of times, so leaving the part I'm stuck on alone is nigh on impossible. the second biggest thing is when I get far too in my own head about how I'm going to translate my ideas into words. which is fairly often.

what keeps me going, I guess, is how much it bothers me leaving things unfinished. in other aspects of my life it happens all the time, and it always plays on my mind. this feels like one place where I can maybe control that outcome. and that's not to say I don't have plenty of abandoned wips lol, but particularly w my current fic, I'm motivated enough to see it through to the end.

is it a cop out to say All Of It. yeah it totally is lmao. tbh basically any comment is gonna brighten my day, but I love it most when people comment on my characterisation/character 'voice', so to speak. especially when that gets used as a jumping off point for people to do deeper interpretations of what I'm trying to say with that characterisation. like, godddd, I live for that shit! it's so validating 😭 makes me feel like I did something right

Okk this post is a lil thing I had to get off my chest (hot take ig) but I saw a post recently that was complaining about azujamj fandom dynamics and it made me so angry, not because it was disagreeing with my take, but because it just seemed so?? Angry?? It's completely okay to dislike a common trope but don't be a pretentious mf??? It's really not that hard??? Don't bash people who happen to have a different interpretation of characters than you and say they're completely OOC (bc as an avid reader and writer azujami has so many good fics)

This is my thing: Please, please, dislike a thing as much as you want. But don't get upset with others for liking that thing. There's a difference between, 'I don't like trains and wish there was less train content of my feed' and 'ughh god I would like trains but God most train-lovers are so annoying and only share the most boring facts ever I swear'

Also, if you want to see more of something and you're gonna be like this tm about it, I have a much better idea for you:

Spread your takes in a nice way. Write fics that feature your interpretation, if you can't write post small HCs and theories, in a kind way that doesn't bash people who disagree with you. I see headcanons about Azul that I disagree with, some of which are pretty popular. And yeah, I can make a post about how these stupid people who enjoy the same thing as me and make content that I get to enjoy for free dared to disagree with me, but you know what that makes me? A dick.

I know, I know, it's weird to get so worked up about it, but this feels like such a common trend in this fandom. If you have a darker interpretation of the characters, that's lovely! Diverse interpretations make a fandom with media literacy. But don't complain about how everyone's woobifying your faves just bc they don't think the twins loved Azul's overblot and were really disappointed they couldn't eat him please. It feels belittling and very pretentious - your take isn't necessarily the correct one.

And you know the funniest part? A lot of people who complain about everyone woobifying or excessively darkening their faves or whatever? They don't even make anything for their fandom. If you want to see more X, don't complain about people not making X, make X or request X from someone who takes requests if you really really don't wanna write.

I'm not criticizing takes here - you can say that you feel, or just straight up evidence contradicts X take. You can analyze X take and say it seems implausible. But when you criticize people and complain about real people who do x thing, you're not trying to analyze, debate, or share information anymore, you're being a dick.

No one gets hurt by someone saying that the twins and Azul deep down consider each other friends, and no one's hurting anyone by saying that they find jamiazu 's funny scenes a major part of their HCs. No one's sinning by disagreeing with you.

So please, for the love of all that is holy, if you're going to criticize a take, actually bring up reasonable criticisms - 'Azul being treated like a crybaby because of his breakdown may be a popular take, but it belittles his character and clearly contradicts Canon', isn't that much harder to write than 'Ugh why doesn't anyone realize that Azul's actually a terrible person, Jesus he'd murder you for a single corn chip', and it's more accurate because it's a genuine criticism not just you complaining people don't have the same interpretation as you, but also kinder. It's not that hard just BE NICE. Please! The people who have those takes and still people, and also, even then, their takes are usually backed up by some form of evidence. Don't act objective if you're not even gonna be open to criticism of your own takes.

Feel free to just ignore this if you really dislike the phrase that much, and then I will just try to remember never to use that phrase for your stories again, but I wanted to let you know that I consider "crack taken seriously" to be one of the highest accolades to give an author. Because they took something that anyone else would have made into a one line gag and filled it with life; with joy and fear and insight and inspiration; brilliant worldbuilding and inspired character development.

I don't like most humor. It usually just comes off as mocking and mean to me. But crack taken seriously is when someone takes the bitter absurdity of those "funny" bits of our world and cracks it open to show that there is an entire story full of beauty and hope inside, not just the momentary embarrassment and frustration I expected.

And also, it's just really hard to do. Most people don't have the imagination to find an entire universe in a silly joke, much less the skill to write it. Douglas Adams is crack taken seriously. And Terry Pratchett, JRR Tolkin, William Gibson. Anyone who thought of something radically different than our reality, and then wrote it so well that we all saw our own lives reflected in it. In fact, it showed us ourselves reflected so clearly that it taught us things about ourselves we never thought to look at; changed us in ways that a story that pandered to our expectations of how the world works never could.

Done right, absurdity and silliness leaves the reader receptive to considering radical ideas they might have ignored in any other context. I find it an amazingly powerful literary device. Most cracky fanfic doesn't go that far, of course. But even when it's just used to give a different interpretation of a cannon scene, not political commentary, it hits me harder than more conventionally structured works trying to do the same thing. And I can't write it at all so I find it really technically impressive when someone pulls it off. The timing and pacing is really hard to do!

( crack taken seriously tends to be something that makes me giggle or go "WTF?" at first, but ends with me sitting in stunned silence, thinking "OH." I mean, there are variants, it's not like a rule, but that's kind of the core feeling I get from it.

It's an actual unique genre in my mind, not literally something silly treated as serious)

Oh friend it's okay, I don't actually need anyone to change up their tagging systems for me! And thank you for sharing your thoughts on the 'crack taken seriously' tag 🥰 I do objectively know most people mean it in a good way, it just also catches me off guard every time because the pieces of my writing that I think people label me as a 'crack' writer for aren't what I'd label as 'crack', so there's a disconnect for me (ie something like my necromancy AU I haven't written yet, where Chay can just raise the dead as he pleases and I use that to dig into Big's relationship with personhood, is crack taken seriously to me; stuff that just plays off silliness like an accidental pony-play or ridiculous friendship shenanigans i'd just tag as humor). plus, the definition for 'crack' is all over the place-- I always assume the nicer definitions for my own sake, but I'm not entirely sure sometimes.

so in a combination of my own writing insecurities and the definition mismatch, I feel very...odd? ig? about the label. it's very much a me thing, I know that, but sometimes the specific combination of tags left on my stuff feels more like "this person's a crack writer BUT--" and it kinda feels like I'm being put on the backfoot/dismissed, or that what I like to write is somehow 'less' and needs to be justified to be liked. this is still a me issue, but sometimes the disconnect hits strong and I just feel baffled for the day.

since you mentioned knotting - in your universe, are female alphas a thing? i know you mentioned female betas so i’m just wondering how a female knot would work ig 😅

so the very short answer to this is yes there are, but the very long answer to this is that omegaverse doesn't need to live inside the cisgender and heteronormative binary, and i personally believe it functions very well outside of it.... so the logistics of your question takes more explanation.

i want to dig into this a bit more under the cut, but please know i'm speaking from my personal reading preferences here, and there are no hard and fast rules with this genre just like with gender, sex, and sexuality.

to start, i just want to say that i am a cisgender female, so a lot of my writing is informed by this and written from this perspective; however, i do think it's important to use gender inclusive language when talking about ideas like this, even when we're dealing with the fictional omegaverse. i'm not an expert at using gender inclusive language, so forgive me for any mistakes here, but i want to try my best to explain my thoughts in the most inclusive and thoughtful way that i can. feel free to message me if you feel like i could explain differently or better, i'm always happy to learn.

my personal preference for male presenting omegas and female presenting alphas is to use the genitalia that makes the most sense to read and write for me personally. that means that if i'm reading m/m omegaverse fic, i typically prefer reading omegas with vulvas and internal reproductive organs, regardless of their gender presentation or pronouns, and alphas with penises/external reproductive organs. for me personally this makes the most sense as a writer as well and that is informing my writing here.

a huge cornerstone of omegaverse fic is breeding kink, but further, actual impregnation kink or "pupping". i've seen some excellent writers write omegaverse where omegas have penises/external reproductive organs, but usually then they also have vulvas and internal reproductive organs OR they don't, they are engaging in anal sex, but the omega body responds to being knotted by creating a womb for pups. that's a completely fine interpretation, and i would say probably a more common one to read, but my personal preference is the former scenario when reading m/m fic.

i will say that interpretation has opened many conversations in the fic community about using gender inclusive language and the ethics around writing a person or character differently than their real life gender presentation or assumed assigned sex. those are all valid conversations to have, but for me personally i err on the side of keeping things simple from a writing perspective.

to use your question as an example, yes there are female alphas. that would be female presenting alphas with external reproductive organs and so knotting is quite the same as what you've seen so far in my fic with a male presenting alpha.

i think at the end of the day what's important is that whatever you're reading (or writing) makes sense and is comfortable for you personally just like it is for me. my experience reading omegaverse is mostly cis-het and not in any kpop fandoms, but i've also read a lot of ateez omegaverse and i think this is a good summary of my preferences and how it's potentially informed my writing.

however... what i will say, is that even in my own universe, there are still no hard rules. people are assigned female or assigned male at birth, but that isn't the sum total of male and female, just like real life. gender is fluid, and if i was writing a book on my omegaverse universe i'd tell you that there are cis and trans alphas, omegas, and betas alike, including non-binary people. their genitalia will not always match what was assigned at birth nor will their presentations and designations.

i hope this makes sense, i think especially with omegaverse because it is a subgenre and can apply to anything and any character, there's such flexibility with it. and if real life is a vast spectrum, then omegaverse should be too. there is no right or wrong, there's only good writing, so while i have my generalized preferences if the writing is good i'm open to anything and everything. i hope that you will find the same with future chapters of my fic as we explore these concepts a bit more.

tl;dr: anything is possible when you step outside the cis-het binary

also before anything SEASON 2 LOOKS SOOOO FREAKING GOOOD!! like in absolutely in love with mq and i thought i couldn't love him more but i was fortunately proven wrong ! also it dragged me back into fengqing so there's that hensndkeknd it only took few hot shots of fx and yeah i hate that i love them again but i do and there's nothing i can do about it but accept 😔✊ I HAD SUCH HIGH EXPECTATIONS FOR LQQ AND HE MET EVERY ONE OF THEM SJDJDJD HE LOOKS SO BABY and speaking of him, im sooooo curious what was your favorite lqq scene??

lqq meeting fy on his purse of revenge could go into sooo many different directions!! like does lqq figure out fy is out on defending mq's name quest and is conflicted because he wants to help but also killing qr takes priority rn? does he try to convince fy to work together?? now i wanna explore every crevice of that meeting and make like thousands fics for it!!

the thing about qiurong for me, as it is with many ships in big fandoms, it feels very forced ig by the fandom? i don't think im wording it correctly, but for me i usually don't end up liking many of those ships because it feels like people would just smush two characters together because they ran out of characters they can pair them with. and it's not necessarily a bad thing, but in this case the most im seeing from qiurong is fluffy family aus, which would never come to mind for me when i think about qr and lqq in a room together. again not a bad thing, not a bad ship, but personally not my cup of tea.

i do have to admit tho, im always kinda leaning towards more canon characterization, so i do have a particular tastes in ships i do ship and in definitely not one of the people who would read anything they can from the ships i like. so i think i wouldn't have gave up so quickly on quirong if i found something that suits my taste, because i do like both of their characters separately.

EXPLORING THE SIDE CHARACTERS RELATIONSHIPS IS ALWAYS THE BEST PART IN ANY FANDOM FOR ME!!! especially as someone whose faves are usually the side characters lol the creativity and the freedom of interpretation, diving deeper into them and putting them into situations and having to think about how they would act in them sjsjjsjd makes me crazy every time!

ALSO LQQ IS JUST AS ENDEARING AND CHARMING AS I HOPED HE WOULD BE. The way he’s so expressive and always so honest— he wears his feelings at all times and it’s always been one of my favorite qualities of his. Also asking me to choose a fav lqq scene is cruel— I love them ALL!!! From his intervention in the gambler’s den and subsequent fight with Hua Cheng, to the way Xie Lian still wrangles him like they’re still teacher & student, to lqq’s “if I hadn’t stepped in, nobody else would,” to the anger and pain in his voice as he broke his own arm to make a fair duel against xl,,,,, there’s so many good scenes!!!!

I’m bouncing all of these qianqing scenarios around in my head but I’m also especially intrigued by a fy & lqq encounter. If lqq was already close with mq when he was put under house arrest, I don’t know if lqq would be able to ignore that— even if he was still hellbent on revenge against qr. Maybe lqq doesn’t recognize mq in fy’s form— his decision to help would come across as so much more sincere like that, I think. Mq isn’t even present but lqq— who is still so jaded by his own quest— still thinks so highly of mq,,,,,,, I think mq would be taken aback by the gesture. Meanwhile lqq knows what it’s like to be wronged and want to set things right— he can empathize.

I’m shaking your hands on the qiurong sentiments— again, I think it’s fun for people to explore ships however they want. I don’t really like it so I don’t really engage with it. They don’t scratch the right type of enemies to lovers tropes that I usually like and that’s okay! I’ll be peddling my lqq content off in the corner while people have fun in their spaces.

I think it’s okay and important to be selective about how you enjoy your media! Not every piece of art or fic was made to be universally enjoyed and that’s okay! Personally I’m with you on focusing on characterization— If I feel like my silly lil guys would not say the words being put in their mouths then usually I put what I’m looking at down and move onto something else.

We’re alike in side character enjoyment too LMAO. Not to analyze it too hard but— for me at least— I think it comes down to how much they have or have not been explored and the intrigue that comes with that possibility. In more deranged words: they’re chewier! It’s like you said— it’s fun to try and figure out how they would behave in unwritten scenarios.
