s.h. | we need to warm up (one shot)
a/n: it's been a while since i posted a steve fic, so here it issssss. this is a combination of a friends episode and a scene from an old tv show i used to watch when i was a teenager.
warnings: being locked up in closed spaces, language, mentions of sex and injuries (freezing), english is not my first language. some stuff may not be accurate. MINORS DNI. credits to the gif owner!
summary: steve and you worked at scoops ahoy together and one day while you two were bickering about something silly, you got stuck in a walk-in refrigerator.
steve harrington x afab!oc!reader.
đ«do NOT copy, translate or put my work thru an AI.
Robin, your best friend, helped you get this job at Scoops Ahoy a couple of months ago. The work itself wasnât ideal because you had to put up with a lot of annoying people (and cleaning toilets wasnât very appealing either), but the pay was pretty good and it allowed you to combine it with your study schedule. The best parts were obviously the free ice cream and sharing shifts with your bestie.
You also had to share several shifts with Steve Harrington. You didnât like him at first if you were being completely honest. You knew him from before because you had shared a few classes at Hawkins High, but you never actively talked to him. He was very handsome and charming, but his reputation of being a womanizer and a douchebag preceded him so for you that was enough to keep your distance.
However, everything changed when you took on this job. On the bright side, has had some personal growth over the last few months so this made spending time with him a lot easier. Of course, the King Steve persona sometimes came into the light and he could get insufferable, but you still enjoyed his company. You could say you had more of a âfrenemiesâ relationship. Definitely, one of the things that amused you the most was bickering with Steve, so when the work day was quiet, youâd pick a silly argument just for the sake of it.Â
Thus, thatâs what led the two of you to discuss the topic of sex in the middle of one casual Saturday afternoon in mid-September at Scoops Ahoy. The weather was chiller than the one from previous weeks, but there were some people that werenât going to let the climate get in the way of getting ice cream. You couldnât blame them though. Robin was at the register machine, getting the customersâ orders and Steve and you were organizing the stock at the back of the shop.
âHarrington, are you really saying that kissing and foreplay are not as important as the sex part!?â, you exclaimed a bit too loudly while you glared at your coworker with a questioning look. He just quirked his eyebrows and shrugged his shoulders meaning âYes, I said what I said. Deal with it.â
You didnât feel any shame talking about these topics. In fact, you were pretty bold. Especially with Steve. He had that vibe that made everyone around him feel comfortable with discussing or doing anything. Of course. King Steve, ladies and gentlemen.Â
âWhy would I prefer the opening act when I know Iâll be seeing, I dunno, The Police soon?â
You let out a chuckle.
âYou have been spending more time with Eddie, havenât you?â, he gave you a mocking look. It was no secret that Steve wasnât a fan of Eddie, especially because recently he had been stealing Dustinâs attention and that made Steve more jealous than he cared to admit. You couldnât help but smile at the cuteness of Steve and Dustinâs relationship and his jealousy.
You grabbed one of the boxes with new ice cream flavours that were recently delivered to the shop because you had to carry them to the walk-in refrigerator, but since the two boxes were really heavy you asked Steve for help. At first he pretended to ignore you, but then he smiled teasingly and grabbed the other one to give you a hand. You had trouble deciding whether you hated that smile or you loved it⊠It was probably the latter.Â
As soon as you entered the refrigerator, the chilly air hit your skin. You carefully placed the box you were carrying on the floor and put the door wedge so it wouldnât close while you were in there. The door was pretty heavy because it needed to stay shut in order to keep the temperature low, but also, the door handle wasnât working pretty well.
âAnyways, for us girls theyâre really equally importantâ, you resumed your little argument while you two arranged the ice creams on the various shelves, categorizing them by their flavor. âWe can get all the information we need about the other person from the first kiss. I canât believe you donât like it.â
You looked at him from the corner of your eye and noticed that he rolled his.
âNo, honeyâ, he paused and sighed. You screamed internally at the pet name. He usually called you by your name or âSmarty Pantsâ whenever you gave him witty comebacks. âItâs not that I donât like it. I do, but Iâd rather get down to the real business quicker.â
âWell, hun, friendly advice, if you keep thinking like that, youâll have to settle with solo concerts.â
Steve wanted to give you the middle finger so badly but couldnât do it because he had his hands full so he had to contempt himself by sticking out his tongue in a mocking tone. You gave him a playful nudge on the shoulder and then he gave you another one back but Steve was stronger than you so you tripped backwards and accidentally kicked the door wedge and the refrigerator door closed.Â
âFuckâ, the two of you blurted out in unison; your heartbeats picking up rapidly. You exchanged looks and frowned your eyebrows at the same time. Under different circumstances, you would have laughed at the synchronicity.
âThis is your fault.â
âHow is this my fault, Harrington? You pushed me!â, you replied back while you got up from the floor and adjusted your uniform.
âYou made me come in here!â
âI simply asked for your help!â
You decided it was useless to continue with this bickering so you kneeled down before the door handle to try to make it work. However, it was useless. The door refused to budge. You had repeatedly asked Keith, your boss, to call the repair guy to fix said handle but of course he never did. You cursed him under your breath while you got back up and started screaming and banging on the door.
âROBIN! HELP! SOMEBODYâ, Steve joined you but nobody seemed to hear. âHELLO, WEâRE INSIDE THE REFRIGERATOR!â, you both screamed over and over again.
âI hope Robin notices quickly weâre nowhere to be seen. If not, weâre going to freeze to deathâ, you lifted your hands to massage your scalp, trying to prevent yourself from spiraling. Extremely difficult task given the not so encouraging situation. You didnât consider yourself a claustrophobic person but you werenât a fan.
âDonât exaggerate, Y/N. Itâs just a little bit of coldâ, he shrugged his shoulders and waved his hand dismissively, as if brushing off your very real concern.Â
If looks could kill, he would be reduced to ashes right now.Â
âUnlike you, I donât have teenage-like hormones, Steve. I get cold easily.â
He was about to reply with another witty comment, but he noticed how anxious you were getting. He saw your right leg start bouncing rapidly and how you bit your fingernailsâsubtle things you did when you were nervous or distressed. He had noticed them before. He let out a defeated sigh.
âOK, Iâm being serious right now: weâre going to get out of here in a heartbeat, donât worry.âÂ
You went back to the screaming and banging, hoping that someone outside would hear you at that very moment and get you out of there. Unfortunately, you were alone with the echoes of your voice and movements. Meanwhile, Steve was pacing the small place, thinking of any other possible escape.Â
After some minutes that felt like hours, the cold and the confinement were starting to take a toll on you. You sat on the floor with your back against the door to keep hitting it, more occasionally now. The Scoops Ahoy uniform was not enough to keep you warm; your body started trembling so you hugged yourself, keeping your knees close to your chest. Steve heard your shivering breaths. He scanned the âroomâ one more time and saw the empty cardboard boxes stacked where you had been organizing the ice cream.
âWe can use the empty ice cream boxes to keep us warmâ, you gave him a questioning look. encouraging him to clarify. âWe can break them down to sit on them and then put the other parts over our bodiesâ.
âGod bless that big head of yours, Harrington.â, you smiled and tried to stand up but it wasnât as easy as before. Your body was getting stiffer. Steve gave you a hand.
The two of you started tearing up the boxes and placing the flattened pieces on the floor next to the door and then cutting up bigger sections to use as makeshift blankets.Â
âWell, itâs better than nothingâ, Steve commented once you were all set and you agreed, keeping the cardboard boxes as close to your body as possible.Â
It was far from being the perfect solution, but it worked⊠for a couple of minutes. Then, you started shivering again. You got up to the point where you could no longer feel your legs. You wanted to keep screaming and banging on the door but the little energy you had was starting to wear off. You decided to save it for later.
âFuck, itâs so cold in here. I canât stand it anymoreâ, you blurted out, more to yourself than anything and tried to rub your hands violently against your legs to get some warmth.
âCome hereâ, Steve whispered while opening his arms, motioning you to huddle closer to him so you could share whatever body heat you had left. It was true, Steve had a higher body temperature than any other person either of you knew but he wasnât sure of how much that was going to last. He was feeling colder too.
You were hesitant to accept his embrace at first because you werenât used to sharing physical contact with him but you quickly decided that it was worth trying it. Once you were beside him, he put his arms around your shaking frame and put two cardboard boxes over both your bodies. He rested his head on top of yours and you hugged him, wrapping your arms around his waist. Despite everything, this felt strangely nice and comfortable.
âWeâre gonna get out of here, I promiseâ, he said after some silence and you could see the wisps of vapor that looked like smoke coming out of his mouth.Â
You were too tired and weak to say or do anything. It seemed the temperature kept dropping every second. There was some frost on your hair and your eyelashes. Steve had it on his perfect hair too. At this moment, you actually believed you were going to die there. You snuggled closer into Steveâs embrace; not that it was really possible because you were practically glued to him.
You slowly started to drift off; your eyelids felt like two bricks of concrete. Steve went into alert mode when he felt you relax under his touch. âHey, Y/N. Can you hear me?â
You let out a barely audible âMhâ and he started rubbing circles on your arm, close to your elbow.
âStay awake, OK?â
He knew you couldnât fall asleep if you had hypothermia. He didnât know why but he remembered one of his biology teachers who explained that your body functions would slow down even more, which could be deadly. He didnât even want to imagine that happening.Â
At first, he didnât want to admit he liked you because you were a pain in the neck, but then, as he spent more and more time with you, he learned you were funny, smart, and although you annoyed him to boredom sometimes, you were kind-hearted. Also, you had one of the most contagious laughs he has ever heard. And on top of that, you were insanely pretty.Â
This drastic situation helped him realize he didnât want to lose you, in any way. He couldnât.
âI canât.â, you whispered once again.
âYes, you canâ, his hands moved upwards to cup both your cheeks now; his desperate eyes fixed on your face. âOpen your eyes, please, darlingâ. You wanted to laugh at the nickname but you didnât even have the strength to do so. His voice was trembling now too. He didnât know if out of the cold he was feeling or of the fear of something happening to you. He placed a kiss on your forehead. âCome on, I wanna see those pretty eyes.â
âIâm cold, Stevie. Iâm sorry.â
You only used that nickname to tease him because he hated it. Now, it scratched his brain just right. He didnât fail to notice you looked so small, so fragile. He didnât know how, but he could feel you slip away from him.
âNo, no, no, noâ, he blurted out quickly. âY/N, listen to me. Focus on my voice and my handsâ, he rubbed circles on both of your cheeks. âDonât fall asleep. Talk to me.â
His serious but also desperate tone made you realize the gravity of your state.
âAbout what?â, you whispered as you tried to get your whole attention to his gentle touches and his breathing.Â
âAbout anything. Tell me a secret, a memory, an embarrassing story. Whatever comes to your mind, just talk to me.â
You gathered strength out of nowhere and opened your eyes. You saw Steve sigh with a little bit of relief. He also looked exhausted and cold, but there was something in his eyes that told you he was not giving up easily. You couldnât say so for yourself, sadly.
âYour pretty eyes are the last pair Iâm going to seeâ, you spoke slowly. Steveâs heart broke a little at your statement.
âNo, donât say things like that.. I need you to stay here with me. Please. I need you to stay alive so I can take you on a date when weâre out of hereâ, his voice and the movements on your skin were starting to slow down too. âI donât want to leave this planet before kissing your beautiful lips.â
You gave him a weak smile.
âDo it now, Stevie.â
He lifted his eyebrows, thinking he heard you incorrectly. But then, you directed your eyes to his own lips, so he took it as an invitation and wasted no time. The kiss was slow and short but sweet nonetheless. None of you had much energy to keep going for longer, much to your dismay.
âThatâs the way to warm up, right?â, he joked and you let out a choked laugh.
You went back to your tight embrace. You werenât sure how much time you had left. You stopped trembling a couple of minutes ago and you knew that wasnât a good sign. You thought about your family and your friends. One single tear fell from your left eye.
Just about when Steve was going to wipe it, you heard some noises on the other side of the door. You two looked at each other and Steve used the adrenaline rush to get back on his feet and helped you do the same.
âHELP, WEâRE STUCK IN THE REFRIGERATOR. PLEASE HELPâ, Steve was the one yelling and you attempted to bang the door as loud as you could.
And then, the door finally opened. You squinted your eyes due to the sudden change of lightning and tried to make out the silhouette that was standing in front of you, but before you could see who it was or do anything else, your legs gave in and your vision went black, which resulted in you passing out on the ground.
Your eyelids fluttered open as the characteristic antiseptic hospital smell hit your nose. The sterile white walls were the first thing you saw. Your body still felt cold, even though you had several blankets wrapped around your frame. You turned your head to the side and saw Steve sitting on a chair, wrapped on a blanket as well. His eyes were closed and his head was slightly tilted to the side. He looked worn off but really adorable.
âSteve?â, you called his name but you didnât recognize your own voice. It was really sore. The boy opened his eyes and gave you a sweet smile. There was a mixture of relief and concern in his look.
âHey⊠You gave us quite the scare.â You apologized and he shrugged it off. âYour parents are already here. Theyâre filling out the paperwork.â He grabbed the chair and moved it forward to be closer to your bed. Then he grabbed your hand that was hidden under the blankets. âI should call the doctor to let her know you had woken up.â
You nodded but refused to let his hand go so he could stand up. His heart melted.
âWe need to talk about our dateâ, you casually mentioned between giggles.
âYou donât waste a minute, donât you?â, he chuckled, shaking his head. âI assure you, itâs going to be a date to die for.â Now it was your turn to laugh.Â
aaaand the end... i hope you enjoyed it! and as always, i'd love to read some comments with your opinions :) and i'm also taking request, so there's your chance to leave a nice ask đ

I remember reading a post that men are the oppressor class so why would they bother to dismantle systemic patriarchy when they actively benefit from its existence? And as I read it, I thought, Damn, so an entire half of the population can never conceivably help us, and the people who love men in their lives are doomed. It wasn't a helpful post. It basically felt, here's some actual material analysis on feminism and said, That trying to educate and make men be part of feminism is fundamentally a flawed effort, because again, they are the oppressor class, why should they care about uplifting the oppressed?
And it made me think about this very good pamphlet I read, explaining how the white worker remained complacent for so long because at least they weren't a Black slave. And that the author theorized the reason labor movements never truly created exceptional, radical change is because of internal racism (which I find true) and failure to uplift black people. And the author listed common outlooks/approaches to this problem, and one of them was: "We should ignore the white folks entirely and hold solidarity with only other POC, and the countries in the Global South. Who needs those wishy-washy white fragile leftists who don't care about what we think or want?" (roughly paraphrased.)
And the author said, This sounds like the most leftist and radical position, but it's totally flawed because it absolves us of our responsibility to dismantle white supremacy for the sake of our fellow marginalized people, and we are basically ignoring the problem. And that blew me away because this is a position so many activists have, to just ignore the white folks and focus entirely on our own movements. I wish I knew the name of the actual pamphlet, so I could quote entire passages at you.
But I feel this is the same for men. Obviously, we should prioritize and have women-led and women-focused feminism. But saying that men are an oppressor class so they can't reliably be counted upon in feminist activism--it's such a huge oversimplification. And mainly, I'm a Muslim, and I've been treated with plenty of misogyny from Muslim men. And also plenty of misogyny from Muslim women. And I love my male friends, I want men to be part of the movement, and I dunno. Thinking about communities, movements, and the various ways we fail each other and what it means to be truly intersectional keeps me up at night.
I don't know the pamphlet you're talking about but I've read and been taught similar. There's a reason much of my anti-racism is so feminist and most of my feminism is anti-racist. Many people coming at this problem from a truly intersectional angle have seen that there is no freedom to be had without joining hands across the community. Not picking and choosing our allies based off of identity but off of behavior.
As used in a previous example, a white abled moderately wealthy man saying "wow Healthcare sucks in this country, why does this system suck so bad" should be told "hey, this system sucks so bad because it's built off of sexism, racism, classism, and ableism. You want to improve the system? Fix those things and it will be much better in the long run" and not "shut up you're a man. Healthcare is always going to be better for you". The second response doesn't fix that Healthcare is still a problem even if you are at the "top" of the privilege ladder. If we want true change, we have to dismantle the entire system at it's core and build it up without the yuck, otherwise you're gunna get to the top and realize this place sucks too.
Something something if the crabs worked together to hold each other up, they could all get out of the bucket and be free.

Hellooo!
I saw on your pinned post which said you don't do poly relationship's, which I understand, however do you do platonic friendships for the reader such as the Bakusquad or dekusquad?
If so, can you do one where the reader who hangs out with the Bakusquad, has really severe ADHD? And there's some sort of incident with Monoma?
If not that's totally okay!
With love anon
i gotchu babes, also i'm sorry if i don't accurately depict the adhd but i'll try my bestest for sure! <3 feel free to request more ;) masterlist
"y/n..... did you forget your homework again?" mina looked at you when you appeared at the diner
"wait, THAT'S WHAT I FORGOT" you smacked your forehead
"it's okay, you can use my book with me" kirshima smiled at you and invited you to sit beside him, which you accepted
"you're damn lucky that you're powerful on the battlefield, when it comes to book and shit-" mina smacked bakugo in the back of the head before he could finish
"bakugo we talked about this"
kirishima gave you a comforting smile, "hey, did you know how to do this problem"
you understood that you often forgot things, and had trouble concentrating, and bakugo did often bring this up
but believe it or not, it was him caring, and no way in hell he would ever admit that's why he brings it up
and yes mina has lectured him about it
but you and denki, two peas in a pod
you guys were usually the ones goofing off in the back of aizawa's class
i picture you guys like sharing airpods or smth and playing dumb songs and tryin not to laugh
or throwing paper balls at the back of bakugo's head
"BAKUGO! stop interrupting my class please" as bakugo is about to beat yall asses
meanwhile you and denki dying trying not to laugh
ANYWAY
one day, classes 1-A and 1-B were put together for a training exercise
you were put in groups of 3 or 4 and ordered to basically fight the other groups
creative ik
antyways, you were put in a group with denki, bakugo, and jirou
the group you guys were up to fight was Tetsutetsu, Monoma, and Shiozaki
Denki did a whole ass double take
"hey! it's that hot girl"
"the one that totally beat your ass at the sports event, yeah that's her :)" jirou said smirking
denki - :0 *dramatic gasp
anyway you guys were one of the last groups lined up to fight, so the teachers put everyone who wasn't fighting in the stands, and monoma's group was sitting behind yours
the groups before you fought and it was entertaining to watch, kinda
you were sitting in between jirou and bakugo, and he noticed how short your attention span was becoming, and you began fidgeting
he then pulled out some sort of fidget toy and handed it to you
you looked at him, "what's this for?"
he placed it in your hand, "just picked it up the other day, use it or whatever you need to pay attention to the damn matches, it'll be helpful in someway"
you raised a brow and looked at the toy in your hand, you smirked, "aww you thought about meee"
"shut up dammit! last time i do anything for you." he crossed his arms and looked away
you nudged him with your elbow "thank you, bakugo", which he responded with a grunt
monoma was watching the interaction and he blurted out with "are you guys together?"
jirou rolled her eyes
"WHAT NO?" bakugo yelled, you nudged him again
"just ignore 'em" you kept your attention on the toy
"dunno why anyone would date y/n anyway, they would probably loose interest super quickly anyway" monoma laughed at his own joke
bakugo was about to punch his lights out when you and denki kept him in his seat
"dude, you don't wanna be on house arrest again do you?" denki murmured to him
bakugo cursed to himself and sat back down
after a few more minutes of the match, deku and todoroki's team won no surprise
and your team was called up
as well as monoma's
"good luck y/n!" deku said as you passed him
"thank you!"
when y'all got onto the spar area thingy idk what its called
monoma laughed to himself again
"ugh, WHAT NOW?" bakugo yelled at him
"let's see if y/n can keep their attention on this-" he was interrupted by bakugo smashing his fist into monoma's face
"HEY I DIDN'T SAY GO YET??" present mic yelled
bakugo was about to beat his ass but aizawa used his scarf to hold him back
denki leaned over to you "so much for no more house arrest"
"no kidding"
jirou looked at you, "y'know bakugo wouldn't do that for just anyone, he must care about you as a friend"
"bakugo? having feelings? please." denki rolled his eyes, "but for real, she kinda has a point." he looked at you
you shrugged your shoulders and after aizawa let bakugo go, the fight commenced
and ofc you guys won after bakugo had a little motivation ;)
later that night, at the dorms you walked into the kitchen to find bakugo cooking with the rest of the bakusquad in the common room
you came up to him with the fidget toy in your hand "you want this back?"
he kept stirring whatever was in the put without looking up, "no, you keep it, you need it."
"oh thanks... dude that smells amazing what is that?" you looked at the pot
"food, go sit in the common room, i'll call when it's ready"
"whatever dad!" you went to the common room where the rest of them were and basically watched a movie and ate whatever bakugo made :)

What Emma Would Do
Ignore me. This is just me working through my own thoughts and feelings on this. Also I'm an idiot.
***BIG EDIT: I misread and misinterpreted. Azel was nearly drugged and SA'd, so his reaction, however cruel, makes complete sense to me. If he was real I couldn't apologize to him enough.
Moving @/caffedrine's billion-dollar comments up here.
My original, misguided post is below the cut if you're interested.
I have to ask myself what Emma would do. Within reason. And only within the scope of this fictional game, because I'm not about to touch this topic as it exists in the real world. That's for people much smarter than me.
But for the game, my dismissing of Azel as a cruel misogynist without seeing his circumstances and worldview shuts down the conversation the same way it does when Azel dismisses a woman as a slut without seeing her circumstances and worldview.
(Did he actually use the word 'slut' or did google just translate çŽć„ł like that for me... I should double-check... edit: oh my bad, he calls her a "female molester", which... I can't say he's wrong considering she tried to give him an aphrodisiac...? The word also means "stupid woman", so he could very well have meant it that way too, especially for some reasons I get into later in the post.)
Soooo, he didn't actually call her a slut. I'm an idiot đ I'm sorry, Azel. Dunno if any of my points below mean anything, but I'll leave it here anyway:
The running theme in Ikepri is to look beyond the beast and see the human inside. To meet them halfway. To see their heart. And that heart is always so very terribly scarred. All these guys have gone through their own traumas and come out the other end behaving in ways designed to be armor, to protect themselves from any further pain.
I can only speculate about Azel this early in his story arc, but being showered with the same adoration and reverence that people only show a god, day in and day out, probably fucks with your mentality a bit if you are still only human at the end of the day. Having women try to seduce you only because you're The Living God, well, we saw what that kind of shallow treatment did to Silvio. Women see you as an object and so women become objects to you. You want to be loved, but you don't want to be hurt.
That might only be scratching the surface with Azel, though. He's also clearly jaded from listening to the same old interpersonal problems people have when in relationships. Love is actual trash to him, not even worth a single penny. It's trash because the very people who follow him prove it to him on a daily basis, I imagine.
Yet that's still not the full picture. I mean, we obviously won't have the full picture until his main route drops, but there's another key factor to consider with Azel.
He quotes Pascal in Licht's sequel. "Man is only a reed, the weakest thing in nature; but he is a thinking reed." The full quote goes onto say:
"All our dignity consists, then, in thought. This is the basis on which we must raise ourselves, and not space and time, which we would not know how to fill. Let us make it our task, then, to think well: here is the principle of morality.â
(Did I read the entire context of the quote? HA! What do you take me for? A scholar or something?)
Free will and independent thought is arguably the most important thing to Azel. He has no respect for the sheep who flock to him for direction (though he'll happily take their money and tributes). Even with the dancer who tried to seduce him in the prologue, when he tells her to lick up the food she dropped after he tripped her, he presents it as a choice. Nevermind that the staggeringly unequal power dynamics at play made it so this was nothing short of coercion in the end; there was no way the dancer was in a position to stand up for herself and say no, even if that's exactly what Azel wanted. But from his perspective, defiance would have been welcome. That's why he phrased it as a choice. That she started licking up the food only solidified in Azel's mind that this woman is an unthinking reed without dignity. If you're going to act like trash, he'll treat you like trash... maybe that was part of his thinking.
On a slightly different note, I think another reason he hates the idea of love so much is because love makes people lose their ability to reason, to think. I believe he outright says as much, iirc.
In the end, I don't know from where exactly Azel's fury and cruelty comes from. It could be all of these things, it might be something else entirely. All I can think is, you can't be 'God' everyday and not be scarred by humans.
In conclusion, I can't excuse Azel's behavior. I don't excuse it. But I think Emma would try to understand the why of it, like she does in any other route. The other running theme in Ikepri is that, as a certain someone would put it, the essence of all people is love. It's their environment that twists them. Somewhere in Azel is the purest kind of love. A kind that would make any god look away in shame. That's what I want to believe in, anyhow.
Also, I need stress that I was SO wrong about whether he actually called the dancer a slut or not. Google fucked me over by translating it that way! Ah, Azel, I'm so sorry!

hi, i know this might be too invasive and feel free to completely ignore this ask if it makes you uncomfortable!! but im curious about what you meant by the post you made about "needing a million ways to say im not doing anything wrong", could you elaborate?
Not invasive, I dunno why it would be? Itâs about when pedophiles have a million ways to say Iâm nice I wonât hurt you. Like nomap or pear or whatever. Itâs also about white supremacist types and cults trying to be like we arenât a cult, itâs just (another word that means cult that they made up). I think itâs an asshole thing to be like nothing to see here! I might be doing things! But Iâm nice about it! I just see it being a common thing with assholes. I just hate seeing someoneâs dni with a million words for subsets of the same thing itâs just upsetting to me. They shouldnât have to say please leave me alone so many times over. It to me is like Iâm not a cat person thatâs awful! I just love cats a lot and itâs all I talk about. But I donât have a cat and I donât interact with cats donât worry. I just look at cat videos and cat memes. I like to think of myself as a cat lover or for short clover or CL for cat lover! But Iâm not a cat person :)
#I donât know if this makes sense cuz I kinda went off in jelly speak but#if you get me you get me#anon#itâs also how they get more people into stuff theyâre just unaware#cuz everythingâs covered up

A Proper Introduction
This has been up for a while, so allow me to actually shorten this a bit now XD-
Hi! If you don't know me, please just address me as Ducky! Some of the things you'll quickly find out if you stick around on my little piece of the internet (I call it the duck pond-) is that I cosplay, do art (I went to college for animation, but I do tend to draw very slowly at times, lol-) and write. I also stream every Friday, or at least try to. I do have things that do get in the way of my regular posting schedules, so I do apologize if I go weeks on end without streaming or posting gameplay-
For the most part, I do tend to do a lot of art for One Piece. HOWEVER, there are certain fandoms that I will occasionally make art for... unless I'm just posting vent art of some kind. Which is rare, but I do every now and then. (Also, you will catch me making and posting art of my oc x cc shippings because...why not? FREE WILL EXISTS FOR A REASON, SHUSH-) Uhhh...other things to know for fun because why not? :D -I go by she/her -I'm 22, but VERY awkward with talking to everyone -I'm a Gemini! -INFJ with a 9w1 enneagram :3 -I am ALWAYS looking for peeps to do art/cosplay collabs with! So don't be afraid to reach out at anytime to ask to do one! ^v^ -The anxiety levels are over 9,000 (Hence the reason it might feel like I'm ignoring you or most people in general. I just have a hard time with talking to people, but I'm trying to work on it!) -HUGE card and coin collector. I mostly collect One Piece cards, but...have you seen Bisai's art for the different sets? Their art is so pretty!! >w< So, I actually collect to appreciate the art, lol (And am currently looking to try and find someone that could help me learn how to play the game-) -Favorite voice actor is Ian Sinclair. (He does a lot of cool roles :3) -Top five One Piece Characters (In no real order): Thatch, Corazon, Heat, Killer, and Fukaboshi (The rest of Whitebeard's crew is right behind them, lol-) -Oddly enough, I've come to realize that most of my favorite characters over all of the anime and games I'm in are ENFJs, and I don't know how it keeps happening XD Uhhhh...Oh, right! Things to know about my ocs: -Regarding any of my ocs, you are ABSOLUTELY allowed to make fan art for them! I just ask that you tag me in it so that I can reblog it (You better believe I'm going to treat my page like a fridge, AND IT'S BIG ENOUGH TO DISPLAY ALL OF IT!) -All of my current ocs that have completed wikis are posted up on my Wattpad account, so you can go view all of the information on them there. But please do be warned, when I typed their info up in their original documents, a lot of them stretched to about 42 pages? Something like that? So do be warned that you'll be reading for a long while, lol. -My current oc x cc pairings are for One piece only atm. (I'm currently working out a Mouthwashing oc because that game has me in such a bad chokehold currently, it's not even funny XD) Those pairings are: Thatch and Bernice, Heat and Lee, and Rakuyo and Pandora (Tonta is also there, but he's Pandora's son, so...yeah-) -My ask box can be for any of my ocs, or even drawing suggestions. I'm open to anything! :3
And finally...fandoms I'm in! -Hetalia (...this show has had me in a death grip since 2010, shush-) -Creepypasta -Demon Slayer (We can be friends or enemies depending on your views of Gyomei >:3) -Jojo's Bizarre Adventure -Alice in the Country of Hearts (I FEEL LIKE THE VILLAGE CRAZY LADY BEING THE ONLY ONE THAT STILL LOVES THIS FANDOM, PLEASE, IT'S SO GOOD, BLOW IT UP-) -Villainous (And I have to clarify: Cartoon Network Villainous, Not Disney Villainous-) -Tokyo Debunkers -Hazbin Hotel (I have loved the concept since the pilot episode released, though I don't really talk about it that much. Apparently the fandom has a bad rep? Dunno how, I guess I just haven't dipped my toes into the fandom that far yet-) -Obey Me! That's not my Neighbor -The Arcana: Visual Novel -Fnaf: Security Breach -Naruto -My Hero Academia (Again, another fandom that has a bad rep, but I personally just don't mingle with others. AND BEFORE YOU ASK, no, I don't really like a lot of the popular characters. Shoji is actually my favorite out of the whole fandom (What? I like a lot of the roles that Ian Sinclair voices, ok!) -Fire Force (ANOTHER UNDERRATED FANDOM!!) -Mouthwashing (HAVE YOU SEEN THE CHARACTER DESIGN LORE FOR THIS GAME?! And with you peeps knowing me, I'm a HUIGE sucker when it comes to intricate details for character designing!! (I think my oc wikis and their 50 paged documents speak for themselves on that, lol-)) Please be patient, I'm currently working on a chapter directory for Appraise Love since the chapters are really spread out in comparison to a lot of my projects- (Updated as of 2/27/25)

So I told my sister and a couple other people I would post this, and here it is! Just some ponderings about Kanan in the Hera is a Jedi au that turned themselves into a ficlet. Set mid-season one of SWR, and rated G!
Taglist: @firefoxtessa @day-to-day-thots @auroramagpie @laughingphoenixleader @accidental-spice @heckin-music-dork @opalknight @cassie-fanfics and I'm also gonna tag @xxxcertifiednerdxxx, solely because you're accidentally the reason I wrote this. Feel free to ignore the tag, though! (also if anyone wants to be added or removed from the taglist, DM me!)
âWhatâs Kananâs job around here, anyways?â
Hera barely glanced up at Ezraâs question as she removed yet another part from her lightsaber, which lay in pieces in front of her on the worktable in her room. âWhat do you mean?â
Frowning, Ezra said, âEveryoneâs got a role, you know? Zeb is the muscle and Chopperâs the homicidal hacker droid, and Sabineâs the explosives expert, and youâre the Jedi and the pilot and the boss all at once. Youâre all really talented, you know?â
A smile hovered at the edge of Heraâs mouth as she picked up a miniscule tool and used it to unscrew another part. âFlattering as always, Padawan. Your point being?â
âKanan doesnât really have a role,â Ezra said, watching her work. âHeyâ couldnât you use the Force for that?â
âI could,â Hera agreed, removing the part. âBut I like to do it this way.â Setting aside her tool, she finally met Ezraâs eyes. âWhy does it matter what Kananâs role is? Heâs here to help us fight, and thatâs whatâs important.â
âYeah, butââ
âSomeone say my name?â
Ezra and Hera glanced up as Kanan stuck his head through the open door, lifting a curious brow. âEzra wants to know your role in this crew,â Hera said dryly. âAny thoughts?â
âOh, obviously,â Kanan said. âProfessional chef, and eye candy.â He shot a wink at Hera, who rolled her eyes, before turning to Ezra. âBut in all seriousnessâ Iâm whatever we need at the moment. Thatâs where I do my best work. Speaking of best work, how do enchiladas sound for dinner? I found some of those peppers you and Zeb love so much at the market, Captain Hera.â
âThat sounds amazing, love,â Hera said, shooting him a smile as he slipped back out and down the hall. After a moment, she directed her gaze back to Ezra. âDoes that answer your question?â
â...kind of?â
Chuckling, Hera said, âWell, if youâre still wondering, why not ask the rest of the crew? They might have some good insight. And you could always try meditating on it.â
âI think Iâll talk to the others,â Ezra said hastily, getting to his feet. Hera looked amused, but gave him a nod before returning to her lightsaber maintenance with laser-like focus.
The first crew member he encountered was Chopper, and Ezra knew better than to bother with him. Not that heâd care, anyways, the droid was crazy. Instead, he headed for the lounge, where he found Zeb cleaning his bo-rifle.
The Lasat directed a frown at himâ but it wasnât his real, âwhy are you near me do you want to sufferâ scowl, just his all purpose âIâm pretending to be grumpy cause it makes me look coolâ frown. âThought you were training with Hera.â
âI was,â Ezra said, dropping onto a crate nearby. âBut then I asked her a questionââ
âYou? Ask a question? Color me real surprised.â
âHa, ha,â Ezra said, scowling at him. âListen. I asked her what Kananâs role was on the ship.â
âReally?â Zeb paused in his cleaning and glanced up, interest flashing through his eyes. âWhat did she say?â
âWhy? Waitâ do you not know either?â
ââCourse I know. Just curious about what she said.â
âSure. Well, she said that it wasnât important, then told me to ask everyone else. Kanan says heâs whatever he needs to be. Well, first he flirted with Hera, then he said that.â
Snorting, Zeb said, âSounds about right.â
âSo what do you think? Whatâs Kananâs role?â
The Lasat shrugged, setting aside a cleaning rag. âDunno. Heâs just Kanan.â He glanced up in time to see Ezraâs scowl, and sighed. âLook, kid. Youâre taking this too seriously. Itâs not really about roles, anyways. Itâs about why weâre here.â
âWhat do you mean?â
Finally, Zeb set down his bo-rifle. âYou know, why weâre fighting the Empire.â He paused, his expression turning uncharacteristically somber. âYou know why Iâm doing it. And Heraâs pretty obvious, more than just the Jedi stuff.â
âSheâs passionate about making stuff right,â Ezra guessed. âWell, what about Sabine?â
âWhat about me?â
Ezra and Zeb both looked up to see Sabine, carrying a handful of paint-covered rags and looked satisfied with herself. âKid wants to know what Kananâs role is, why heâs here,â Zeb said, nodding at Ezra. âThen he asked about you.â
âSeriously?â Sabine rolled her eyes. âTell me you two arenât this clueless. Heâs here for Hera, obviously.â
âWell, I know that,â Ezra said, feeling himself flush slightly as Sabine ducked into the kitchen and returned without the rags. âBut, like, does he have another reason? And whatâs his job, you know? Heâs kinda just some guy, not a Jedi or pilot like Hera, and not a master warrior like Zeb, or an explosive expert like you.â
âTrue,â Sabine acknowledged. âBut not everyone in the Rebellion has to be as amazingly talented as we are. Most of us have a personal problem with the Empire. Could be Kanan does, too. But why does it matter?â
âI⊠guess it doesnât,â Ezra said slowly. âIt just didnât make any sense to me that heâs the odd one out, I guess.â
Sabine shook her head impatiently. âYouâre putting too much stock in the âeveryone needs to be crazy skillsâ thing, kid. Look, Kananâs a great shot, and a decent co pilot.â
âAmazing cook, too,â Zeb offered, and Sabine nodded.
âTrue. But whatâs most important is that he has our backs. He looks out for us, in big ways and little ones. He knows what we need and he makes sure we can do our jobs well. We couldnât do this without him. Got it?â
âI⊠I do, actually,â Ezra said. âThanks.â
Kanan announced dinner was ready around an hour later, and the crew gathered in the lounge to eat. Hera took her usual seat, and Ezra dropped onto a crate nearby. âDid you figure out the answer to your question, Padawan?â she asked him, a hint of amusement in her eyes.
Setting down his fork, Ezra said, âI did, actually.â He paused, feeling the crewâs eyes on him, but Hera nodded for him to go on. âYour role isnât an obvious one like Zeb or Hera,â he told Kanan, who was sitting opposite them, his plate balanced on one knee. âYouâre here to watch our backs and make sure weâre okay, and take care of us. Youâre⊠kind of the glue that holds us all together. Without you, we wouldnât have made it this far.â He looked at Hera. âAm I right?â
His master was smiling, first at Ezra, and then at Kanan, who seemed surprised. âYouâre absolutely right,â she told him. âWell done, Ezra.â
âNot bad, kid,â Zeb said.
Shrugging, Ezra said, âHey, Kanan said it firstâ heâs whatever we need him to be. I think that counts, right?â
Kanan let out a chuckle, shaking his head. âCanât argue there, I guess.â Shooting a wink at Hera, he added, âI still think I count as eye candy, though.â
âOf course you do, dear,â Hera said, rolling her eyes.

Hmmm :/
Just got this from infostack.
Itâs hard to believe how quickly things changed. One day, AI felt like a distant dream. Then ChatGPT arrived⊠and suddenly, thereâs a new AI tool popping up everywhere you look. If youâre anything like me, youâve probably wondered: Which tools are worth using? How do I even keep up? Hereâs the reality: AI is reshaping the way we writeâforever. And while you could keep doing things the old-fashioned way⊠But letâs be real: why spend days (or weeks!) researching, editing, and revising when AI can streamline it all? Thatâs where the AI Writing Blueprint 2.0 comes in. I created this game-changing guide which I believe is your shortcut to mastering AI tools without losing your creative spark or unique voice. Hereâs what makes it a must-have: No fluff: Skip the endless YouTube tutorials and scattered advice. Comprehensive yet simple: Demystifies AI in just 15 minutesâeven if youâre starting from scratch. Versatile: Whether you're writing novels, crafting blog posts, or creating marketing copy, this blueprint has you covered. And the best part? Itâs completely FREE. Click here to download your AI Writing Blueprint 2.0 now! But donât waitâaccess will be limited soon, and you donât want to miss out. Happy writing!
And... I don't know. I keep waffling about whether to look into AI writing at all.
I definitely do NOT like the social and environmental costs of AI. I am fairly dubious about how helpful it can be.
But I'm also an intensely slow writer who does not have an overload of ideas or work at the moment. Or, at least, I don't have an ACTUAL overload even if it FEELS like an overload.
And it's not particularly smart to give up a tool set, sight unseen, that is helping a lot of other people in your field.
I want to know HOW MUCH it helps in terms of HOW MUCH it costs for the help. Which includes environmental damage and social decohesion, not just some monthly subscription. And I know no one wants to tell me that. I doubt anyone actually knows, if I'm honest. And I can't even answer the positive side without trying it.
So...
I dunno.
If anyone has any starry eyed "It's amazing, it really helped me, even though I can write a book on my own just fine, it's so worth it" I guess I'd love to hear it.
Otherwise I guess I'll ignore this and just keep on doing my best to ignore my creeping FOMO. Because I don't dislike AI because I think it CAN'T EVER do what I want. I dislike it because I think it can if I pour a significant amount of work into it but that the costs for the benefit will significantly outweigh that benefit. I've seen what I would consider real art made with AI. Stuff that is impressive, beautiful, and has something to say. That's not the problem. The problem is that it is going to drink all the water and strangle everyone's future employment. It's a little help in exchange for extinction. And I need that formulae to change before I use it, I think. But the FOMO is very real.

I think it's very important to be positive and kind. There's a few fandom trends and interpretations that annoy me, or that I think are boring. Hell, there are people in the fandom that seriously get on my nerves to the point I've had to block them. But I dunno, I think one of the best thing abt mcyt fandom is the freedom of interpretation and the infinite possibilities. Sometimes, this'll mean that people will flock to the same idea and it'll become overtly popular, but what's most amazing is that it isn't actually Canon, and everyone is free to interpret those ideas differently or ignore it.
The same way that internet stories and creepy pastas have become their own folklore, mcyt fandom has a folklore of its own that is always changeable and malleable. That can be morphed into what you want most
It's okay to angst grian up and make everything about him watcher angst if it makes you happy, even when everyone calls it annoying. It's okay to focus on the fanon curses and come up with new ones for the traffic series whenever coincidences happen and repeat, if it brings you excitement. It's okay to stick to martyn's watcher and listener lore if that deepens your enjoyment of the series. It's not for everyone and that's something you've got to make your peace with - but likewise, those that it isn't for need to make their peace with it too, I think.
I think angry and judgemental posts upon judgemental posts about popular fanon interpretations won't do anything except make people feel bad. This comes from someone who disagrees with a lot of how watchers and the life series mythos is interpreted in fandom. Idk, I'm not saying that you're not allowed to dislike something, or that you can't post about that dislike. I just think a lot of the energy I've seen multiplying recently could be used to be kind, to celebrate what you like instead, and create the content you personally like. I don't know. I struggle to be angry at people who obviously create and speak directly from their heart. We can't expect professional level writing and lore from silly Minecraft youtubers, and I don't know why we expect it from their fans

Beast Feast
youtube
Barnacle Kavernacle has made several videos on the moral flaws of Mr. Beast and I think they're not bad to be honest.
Kavernacle is doing his victory lap talking about how he was the only one complaining about Mr. Beast and why did people take so long to figure out something was wrong with Mr. Beast but uh.
He wasn't the only one.
Maybe he was the one taking the most heat on Twitter because Thunderfoot doesn't use social media and everyone else would have been too small but seriously, when he made the video shown above, other content creators were making their own videos about Mr. Beast.
Hell, even I made this post all the way back in 2019 about Mr. Beast.
Additionally, and I don't want to get lost in the weeds making this point. But the reason why people have been able to ignore complaints from Kavernacle and others is that complaining about rich people is an argument that falls on deaf ears.
For starters, you have an uphill battle justifying why you should complain about Mr. Beast fixing people's eyes when your best complaints could be summed up as "He should lobby for the government to make healthcare free and for eyecare to be funded by the state!"
Mr. Beast fixed people's eyesight for entertainment purposes. At least people's eyes were actually fixed. I still don't know where all the Team Trees were planted.
And invoking the "White Savior" complaint is fairly racist. It can be true like it was with The Blind Side but a white person helping a black person shouldn't be seen as the white person being a White Savior and while we're in the neighborhood, a black person helping a white person is not magical negro hours.
If you apply both schools of thought (like Spike Lee does) you tacitly endorse segregation because only people of your own color can help you and have it be uncomplicated by generational racial issues. Which means you have to stay in communities that share your color if you ever find yourself down on your luck.
It's not what Martin Luther King Jr. wanted, It is what Malcolm X would have wanted though but Malcolm X also said that white liberals were the worst people you can hope to deal with, I feel, ironcally enough, anyone complaining about White Saviors or magical Negros is someone Malcolm X would hate, which would include entertainers like Spike Lee.
So I don't want to hear that kind of argument out of people and most people don't. But people like Kavernacle don't worry too much about it because in their mind having wealth means you are immoral because capitalism is immoral and being really good at making a lot of it means you had to commit immoral acts that are beyond the pale and can only be rectified by the seizure of excess assets (although he also believes that you can't be ethical under capitalism so I dunno, maybe morality is subjective).
That and, well, most people want to be rich. Even socialists and communists covet extreme wealth.
It's kind of like money is the One Ring. People who hate Capitalism will insist that they will take their money to Mount Doom and destroy it for the benefit of all. But they get bewitched by it. It always happens.
youtube
I mean maybe one day, the poorest and yet greediest of us all will bite the finger of the turncoat fat cat socialist and end capitalism forever, but It will probably just be sentient automation stripping humanity of it's ability to control the economy, destroying market manipulation and denying anyone who doesn't contribute to society the excess wages they might desire but not deserve.
I mean honestly, that an replicators are the only way this will work, I don't even see why we would bother to talk about this. Wait a second? Weren't we talking about the Kavernacle and Mr. Beast?
No no. I think we're done talking about Kavernacle. HIs beliefs are why people ignored his warnings about Mr. Beast up until this point.
I don't have nearly a big platform as he does (I haven't owned a twitter X account since 2013) so I couldn't really make the case to a large audience that Mr. Beast is bad because he really doesn't care about any particular cause he makes a video around. He says every video is mega expensive but he would have quite a lot to write off on his taxes, especially if it's a valid charitable donation.
Additionally, he doesn't personally handle really anything. A third party does what little labor is actually required to accomplish his tasks and outside of something needing to be objectively demonstrable (like bringing back someone's sight), a lot of it can just have the corners cut, or the work shirked, and the time on camera working on it only being performative even though it's sold as something that will actually have an impact.
Like how Team Trees pretended to plant 1 tree for 1 dollar even though a single tree costs several dollars or how the company handling the planting of trees was bad at planting trees?
He has a real slick racket to be quite honest.
I wasn't expecting the possible lottery scam, or the way he just doesn't give a fuck about nonces being around children. Or how he tortured that guy for content.
So many children want to be like Mr. Beast too.
I guess this shouldn't be surprising. It wasn't any better when hollywood celebrities were the people society's most gullible looked up to.
Why can't we just reject False Icons?

Think more games should just start with straight, curly, wavy, and everything in between options from the get go especially if it supports PoC's representation in media and video gaming as a whole. Same goes with gender diversity and relationship diversity in media writing to allow for more LGBT+ representation in media. Ideally these things would be baked in from the get go. World might not be an ideal world but it shouldn't stop us as creatives from making it that way.
Its like that one post about if a kid smiles at you, you should smile back so we can make the world a kinder better place. Not so much that you would be getting anything grand out of it or life isn't cruel its that we should be working towards a place where life didn't always be cruel, it could be kind and pleasant, happy and mostly free of strife. Bad things would still happen, no one can predict or 100% deal with cancer, immune deficient diseases, or chronic pain to fully cure stuff. But, it doesn't mean we can't make the world gentler to those afflicted to such things and even those who aren't.
We live in a world resistant to change that the future requires and requests. I vaguely recall from the time period between when I went to Middle to High School. People being gay, lesbian, etc. was like you basically walked up to someone and killed their dog or something akin to the atrocity. There were entire fucking marches through my small town of no real note to keep gay marriage from happening. Even at the time I felt that was fucking ridiculous. The following ten years was making it okay for two women or men to hold hands or kiss in an animated television show. Cause lord won't you please think of the children.
Despite all the resistance this world provides us, at least in America, I dunno how Germany, the Netherlands, Chad, Angola, the Phillippines, or Taiwan feel about this subject or how they've been dealing with it, we should be making the world more welcoming and representative of all its people within the certain limits that we are not providing a platform for dictatorship and fascist ideals that will strip a person of all rights while glorifying the legacy and power of a singular man or group of men whose selfishness absorbs an entire country and causes its people to suffer intentionally through ignorance or apathy.
But, with the stresses of the today's world. We cannot all be made to charge the metaphorical beaches of Normandy for the cause. Some of us haven't the mental, emotional or even physical bandwidth to champion good causes in an active manner. But we still feel it strongly even if we do not have the words to describe it. And as social creatures, humans will be passionate and want to communicate it. If they cannot, we wish to at least be validated in causes we hold fast to even if we are not at liberty to fully express it for whatever reason.
So just like...break even with us and give people, particularly those of the LGBT+, People with Disabilities and PoC and their intersection representation in options of hairstyle, skin tone, romantic or lack thereof exploration/representation and the options to give people the option to like turn on a color blind mode or a certain control set up to allow stuff like...Dark Souls to be more welcoming to them.
I dunno exactly who I am talking to in making this post I just have THOUGHTS after the recent FFXIV Hairstyle Competition. And the thought was mostly, "Why did we have to hold a contest to get some of these hair styles? Why weren't they in the game to begin with?" probably resources. But like...still, ya know?
Sorry for the tangent. I think therefore I Void.

re: skwisgaar attraction myth debunk turned feminist critique (AMAZING post btw) - feel free to ignore/not respond if it's too much/incomprehensible (english is fake)/rambly
honestly i feel like said post gets into the lesser discussed aspect of the mtl fandom as i believe a lot of us want to view it as different than other fandoms with a majority male cast; but it's not. this is a fandom full of misogyny-affected folks, especially of tme persuasion, who never outgrew or if new, elect to partake in, ye olde fandom habits of internalized misogyny shining through like it's their goddamn guiding light.
i dont know exactly how to phrase this in a demographically correct way, but it feels like despite the mtl fandom being overwhelmingly queer and a lot of the misogyny-affected tme folks being trans... the "i'm not like other girls" mentality was not broken out of; people decided "i am not a woman" and suddenly unpacking internalized misogyny wasn't a thing they decided they had to do anymore!
like. it feels like mtl fandom is about being "quirky" and shipping dethklok together but god forbid you wanna focus on the women in the show; abigail, amber, trindle, etc. it's... a tale as old as time (as those of us who have been in fandom spaces for a while would know) and it's so fucking saddening.
i've seen media analysis and critique of this show (MOSTLY YOURS!!) but more often than not it feels like the fandom doesn't want to delve into that either; they like mtl on the surface level. because it's edgy. because it's metal. because it's funny. because they find xyz member of the cast sexy. and i feel like this interwined internalized misogyny being projected out via mtl fandom behaviors with this complete lack of regard for the quality aspects of the show and the depths of the characters within it... i dunno. as i said, it's saddening.
...again, i hope this wasn't too word salad-like, or rambly, or long, or anything, but oh my god your post got the gears turning in my brain head so full of all the thoughts ever-
and yet again, AMAZING analysis, incredible dedication, and fantastic feminist critique.
donât worry darling this wasnât too long of an ask and i find it VERY intriguing.
because yeah i do absolutely fall into both camps of this to an extent. i love shipping the boys and talking about them, because i do love them as characters, but yeah itâs so easy to fall into the trap of not caring about the female characters in the show. and i would agree, again to an extent, that the female characters were not given much care or time from the show to properly be explored in a meaningful way (though, how much of that was a deliberate choice by the crew and how much of that just happened due to adult swim meddling in the latter years, weâll probably never know). i always find it interesting, for example, how fandom will latch onto magnus but not care about abigail, despite abigail having more screentime and having a major impact on the plot of the show (had the band never broke up over her, salacia wouldnât have attacked when he did, forcing them to finally learn about the prophecy and the doomstar arguably before they were ready, AND without salaciaâs attack, the revengencers wouldnât have been able to catch dethklok at the funeral and kidnap toki and abigail). of course with abigail, itâs not just misogyny playing a role there, but racism too, though luckily there have been some people calling out fandom treatment of her.
iâve talked a bit before about how much it sucks that abigail wasnât given really anything to work with, but it also makes sense given that the show is from dethklokâs point of view and they donât really care about her either. thatâs why it feels so strange (and SHOULD feel strange) to see nathan proposing to abigail in aotdâwe didnât know anything about her because he didnât know anything about her, and that was kind of the whole point of that arc in the movie. women are objects to dethklok, and because of that, they become objects in the show, and i do think the statements âthis is a deliberate critique of misogyny reinforced both by powerful men and metal cultureâ AND âthis is a result of the crew failing to create and integrate meaningful female characters into the showâ can both co-exist. honestly, i think mtl has a lot to say about gender (idk how much of that was intentional, but iâve been thinking about it for a While and want to make a long analysis post or video about it at some point).
regarding the fandom spaces i mean. fuck, youâre talking to a decently popular lesbian mtl creator. i have one foot in the camp of being a misogyny-affected person (tme also, for reference) who makes up a majority of the fandom, but also the other foot is in the ânot attracted to menâ camp. as much as i like the shipping and smut writing for funsies, i genuinely feel like thereâs more to this show than most people give it credit for. i have written so many analyses about it (with plans for more) for a reason. iâve been in online fandom spaces for about half my life now, and no other piece of media has made me have this many fits of divine madness.
all this to say, yeah, itâs a silly adult swim show, iâm sure 95% of what we see on screen weâre not meant to think too much about. but the reality is that, the text belongs to the readers once it is out in the world, and the way readers respond to it can reflect internalized biases or thoughts. thatâs not always the case! sometimes i just wanna see two silly long-haired men kiss because i think it would fix them. but you donât leave your biases and oppressive thoughts at the door once you enter fandom. and i certainly donât leave my literature MA or gender studies degree at the door either!
#ask.mj#beloved anon#đ anon#đ#putting this in my love letter/testimonials tag bc i wasnât rlly expecting a response like this to that post so thank u â€ïž

I am of the opinion that Cody and Satori are extremely sus and I would like more debunking before I will believe they are real. If they are not frauds they should be willing to do more experiments, so I guess we will see. I think the next move is on them tbh, they are being called out, now we wait and see what they do and how they respond, the way they do both these things will give us an answer I think.
However I do not believe Sam and Colby are in on it at all, their reactions are too genuine for me to believe that so if Cody and Satori are scam artists/fakers then in my eyes SnC got played just as much as their audience.
Also in relation to your comments about 'deleted messages' the disappearing comments that you speak of have been explained as certain algorithms that come with certain sites, especially youtube any posts with links in for example, the youtube algorithm will automatically delete as ironically youtube has measures to protect against bots posting scams and things like that, often posts with links or certain words the site automatically erases.
Plus we know SnC don't really read the comments on youtube videos anymore (especially Colby) as they have stated as such in interviews they've gotten to the point where they just can't do it anymore which is actually really sad. So any deletions on that platform not related to the algorithm have probably been done by a member of their team whose job is likely to manage their youtube socials and keep it positive so will erase anything too negative.
The one place I've seen them interacting with comments about the series regularly has been on Instagram, everywhere else they appear online for a very limited amount of time and maybe reply to one thing each. I've not seen disappearing comments on these other platforms myself but feel free to tell me I'm wrong.
I will say I suspect they probably ignore a lot of the comments calling Cody and Satori out because a lot of them go about it in a very negative and unfriendly way which a person can only take so much of. So maybe we'd get more of a response from them on this topic if we were not so aggressive on the topic, and approached it more as a friendly debate I dunno.
But yeah, my two cents after seeing your last anon reply which seemed to imply you thought SnC were in on it all.
If they weren't in on it then, they certainly are now.
Like i said, they're choosing to push the whole "this is a life-changing thing" narrative, knowing very well it's a fraud. First episode was released in theaters, they got huge sponsorship moneys plus the entire series gives off "the new & improved conjuring house management" advert. Anyone with two brain cells can see this is a business deal involving a lot of money and legal documentation and nobody's gonna give statements, address anything or explain themselves unless it's prearranged and benefits both sides.
Satori's dad is well known for faking evidence on Ghost Hunters, she was literally raised into industry. Cody has been clicking his whatever for years on camera, before they met. Them claiming they don't take money for it is simply a lie because they run a website, a traveling museum, sell merch and get paid as the CH employees so what the fuck do everyone think that is, if not taking money and making profits? Which is fine! Just don't lie about it.
Comments are censored either by youtube settings or their production team. They're not some kids running around with a camera anymore, they have people paid to do stuff. It's their business and livelihood. I don't understand why are people so blatantly oblivious to that.
When money, fame and relevance are involved, integrity often goes out the window.

Hi again, you donât have to post this (tbh it may be better if you donât) but Iâve been sitting here, assessing my own ignorance and why, myself, i wanted Lewis to speak about stuff, or say the âright thingâ and i realised how gross my own thoughts were. When i thought about it, deep down, a lot of it showing heâs a âgood personâ is all because I wanted people to see him as good, so i can feel good about supporting him and thatâs disgusting. So so disgusting and misplaced when thatâs NOT important. At the end of the day, people are dying in horrific circumstances and that should be the focus only. Always. Not the supposed âgoodâ that he encompasses. When i think about all he has said and done in the past, how alone heâs been in that, but how strong he presents himself, i feel like we lose sight that heâs a human with fears, anxieties, emotions etc itâs like the expectation for Lewis is always âlets see how much he is willing to sacrifice so we can say his care for others is credibleâ and im unhappy with myself for being part of that. This isnât centring me or Lewis in this, Iâve been spending my time caring and putting in actions for the causes but it made me think. Why is the outrage on what Lewis speaks about appropriately always so selective with his fans and his haters. Every day there is something new happening, horrific things, poverty, g3nocide, racism, miscarriages of justice, things that have been put on the news and others to a lesser extent and yet the outrage isnt constant. His humanity and credibility as a âgood personâ wasnât questioned when he didnât speak about the murd3rs of black men in London being found, or about Sudan, or Congo, Syria, poverty and homelessness in the UK, Japanâs atrocious child, women, labour, lgbtqia+ laws and he loves that country (and i am not saying he needs to speak about these things btw but theyâre staring us all in the face everyday leading to d3ath, displacement, struggle etc) and his fans are not nearly as frequently outraged as one would expect if they believe social media posts about right vs wrong are the reflection of being good or not so good or even bad. I dunno man, itâs just weird that through this, people are even centering him into convos when we should be concentrating on what we can do and holding people of power accountable. Again, you do not have to post this, and I know you said youâll not speak about this further, but I feel safe to not feel judged when speaking with you even when you may not agree with me.
i'm posting it.
mainly for the second half and i'll circle back to it. well people are not wrong in wanting to have their favorites on their side and wanting them to have the same ideologies and moral stance as them. and with someone like lewis who has actively positioned himself as an ally and champion for many causes it is somewhat warranted too. but when something huge like this happens and the world wants answers we often just look in the wrong place and go for an easy way out blaming the closest thing we can find, over the real factors responsible for it. and in case of fandoms it borders on parasocial behavior imo. the thing you said about you wanting him to look like a good person doing the right thing with ideal views and proper expression of his opinion on social media is parasocial. and we all do it.
i just want you to know (and maybe you already know it) that lewis' actions or inaction are not your responsibility. you don't have to carry the burden of it. that's on him. you must free yourself of it otherwise you'll never get to be happy and have a "fan" experience. this is just my opinion and i follow it. you'll rarely see me talking about his personal life or choices for example, in general, because lbr they don't mean anything to my life and experiences. those are his own consequences. the only time we'd have to talk about them is to flaunt them in some rival fandoms face and we don't really have to do that, not in this situation at least. and he's not always going to be right, he's going to be hypocritical, he's going to change his opinion, he's going to make mistakes and we can't expect him to be perfect. we're not, why must he be? i kept telling myself that what i say on my social media means fuckall as long as i'm taking real steps (keeping in touch with people who need help and support or donating) but that wasn't a good thinking and i'm now actively posting and keeping up. that's privilege and i'm aware but i'm just letting you know this because i want you to know we're all messed up in one way or the other and that's allowed.
as much as i defend lewis for all his rights and wrongs i'm not happy he's not posted anything after that one time. he's been online, he's doing silly q&as, he's promoting his product which you best believe i will buy the first chance i get, he's making appearances, he's liking team stuff, it's not hard to repost several important links right? well, sure but even i wasn't posting anything, even i wasn't up to date on many things and i have a regular 9-5 job with ample time to waste on social media. he's leading a different life, a more sheltered and busier life. we have to accept that. we're all privileged to have a platform (i've been told multiple times in the last few days that this shit blog is a platform. mind you all my other social media is on ghost mode so yeah i'm a tumblr influencer but that's off topic) and how we use it is ultimately on us. we can hope for him to say something and maybe feel disappointed if he didn't but ruining our day over it, obsessing over it and letting it fester into something unnecessary is just a bad choice. that's not fair on us or him or the cause we're trying to highlight. you have to detach yourself beyond a point, is all i'm saying.
i don't want to tell you or anyone else how to process something or behave in such horrible situations but taking it out on celebs or watching something through your favorite celeb is not it. "but we can do both" you don't have to? their views on real life shit are not a priority right now and i won't be convinced otherwise. we must focus on people going through the horrors, focus on who caused it, focus on what WE can do about it and that's all we can do. that's what i'm doing. "oh he'll live if he loses his job" why must he? he's putting his money where his mouth is by taking real action. that's important too? we need him to stay employed. again, this is not me defending him. also "but he's under fia rule, he can't make a political statement." NO, HE'S NOT. first of all, they've not stopped him from speaking up about these issues on his socials and second of all, he's already said he will not care about the ban. so...
and finally the second half of your ask, you're bang on. there's literally so much happening in the world at the same time. always but especially right now. there's more than one genocide going on as we speak which feels horrible to even type out. not enough people are talking about horrible human rights violations happening in india, china, malaysia, syria, congo, ethiopia, tigray, sudan along with palestine with many of them getting no coverage. talking about them on our social media from the comfort of our spaces is extreme privilege in itself. but someone like lewis? he'll need to dedicate his entire time in learning and speaking up on all these things on top of what he's dealing with and bringing to life in his own workplace. that's his choice to make because he's that privileged. so anyway yeah, you see the selective outrage and wonder how fans are going to defend themselves on that. more importantly, are they satisfied with him speaking up or do they want him to speak up exactly what they want? we've seen multiple times that him speaking up is not enough, him acting on his words is not enough either so where do we go from here? it's best to just focus on ourselves and our actions instead. there's always an option to stop supporting him/any celebrity who you feel is purposely ignorant or hateful. they'll live, you'll live.
oof this answer is a whole ass mess and i'm glad i'm not a writer. this is why i didn't want to speak about it again because i have a lot to say. a lot. and most of it can be bullshit or out of touch blabbering or it can start unnecessary shit so i just try to shut up most of the time. i'm really struggling myself with the feeling of being useless and i'm trying to come to terms with it in my own way. but eventually we're all living and learning through this together.
but anyway i'm glad you feel safe talking to me. please keep sending asks, you can also slide into dms if you feel comfortable. sending lots of đ«¶đŸ
