HELLO! this is the first supposedly-annual nealloblondiest "mello isn't dead" bonanza, and this rec list is my main contribution. i have not made a rec list before, and i'm sure this isn't anywhere near comprehensive, but while compiling this, i found several new-to-me fics that i loved and am excited to include! the criteria for this list are mello/near fanfictions that are set after the end of the kira case in which mello survives or comes back from the dead. i'm not listing out the tags for these fics, since i trust everyone can check that for themselves and make judgments accordingly :-)
i will be including one (1) fic of my own here, but you can also find a list of all the fics i have which fall into this category over here <3
meronia authors: if you have a fic that fits this criteria, please feel so incredibly free to reblog and add a link to it [and i will in turn reblog your version so we can all see more fics!!] i am tagging the authors whose tumblr URLs i know, but i very well may miss someone; feel free to tag them in the replies if you think they would like to see it!
without further ado, the list is below the cut!! ^_^
heaven is a place on earth with you by @neallo
rating: E | category: M/M | chapters: 1/1 | words: 1.4k
There is no blood or body of Christ, no priest and no pews, but it’s here and now that Mello finally rediscovers a long-lost sliver of faith. Hands on Near’s hips, Mello lowers his face and presses his mouth to Near’s soft abdomen. “I love you,” he murmurs, head bowed and eyes shut as if in prayer.
getting mine out of the way at the start here :-) this is a sequel to my only one, my smoking gun but can very easily be read as a standalone.
-
Impulse by @empressofthewind
rating: M | category: M/M | chapters: 1/1 | words: 2.5k
In the span of a few weeks, Mello and Near’s rendezvous had quickly become a regular part of Near’s work day; Mello would suggest a time and place, and Near would always agree. Near was perfectly content with the arrangement, as long as his employees didn’t find out.
a sexy little post-kira workplace-romance oneshot in which mello helps near out with a case. and also gives him many hickeys ^_^ <3 the kissing scene in this makes me chewing-off-my-hands insane (highly positive)
-
orchid by anonymous
rating: M | category: multi | chapters: 1/1 | words: 269
mello wonders about what he's gotten himself into, sometimes.
very sweet, very short smutty ot4 fic (mello x matt, mello x near, mello x linda, with an implication that all four are dating each other).
-
reflection by @squidish
rating: E | category: M/M | chapters: 1/1 | words: 2.7k
Their bedroom door was open and the bed faced it. When Near closed the door, Mello raised an eyebrow. Just the one. There was a mirror on the back of the door that hadn’t been there yesterday. It was vertical, rectangular, with a simple black frame. Near looked at him with an expression so blank it could have meant literally anything.  “You don’t have to,” he said, beginning to twirl his long hair, “but I’d like it if you watched.”
very intimate & adoring, yet still filthy [<- very positive] smut <3 ray imo excels beautifully at established relationship fics & captures a delicate dynamic that i'm very fond of.
-
Arsonist's Lullabye by TzviaAriella
rating: T | category: M/M | chapters: 1/1 | words: 3.3k
Two years after the end of the Kira case, Near and Mello pay a visit to L's grave.
i love the dynamic in this one very much; it's very contentious / antagonistic (esp at the start) but not without tenderness underneath :')
-
ringing... by @madmeridian
rating: T | category: M/M | chapters: 1/1 | words: 1.8k
Near receives a phone call and reflects a bit on his past.
mello and near get in touch over the phone after the end of the kira case; great dynamic here. it's a cute and charming story but without feeling de-fanged; their dialogue still has teeth to it :D
-
august underground by @brothercrush and @firebuggg
rating: E | category: M/M | chapters: 2/15 | words: 10.5k
Hell spits them out on a little Greek island.
was not going to include in-progress fics on this list, but had to make an exception. slowburn alternating POV story in which near drags mello out of hell. beautiful prose & a complex, compelling dynamic <3

happy rwrb thanksgiving! :D
in honor of how ridiculously grateful I am for the space and community this fandom has brought to my life, I wanted to create something to give back in the lead up to thanksgiving!
below the cut you'll find an (incomplete) list of ways that you can support the writers and artists that continue to give us such wonderful content. <3
+
firstly, of course, you can support casey + the crew by streaming the film or buying the book!
ways to support writers/fics:
(on ao3) ☆ subscribe to the author ☆ leave kudos ☆ leave a comment ☆ bookmark + add a nice comment in the bookmarkers tags (they're public!) ☆ check the recent works for the fandom to find some lesser known works + subscribe to the pairing for notifications ☆ if you don't like/agree with something or don't have something nice to say, kindly press the back button ☆ this is a good source for other ao3 related support! ☆ this is a good source for learning how to compose comments on ao3!
(on tumblr/twitter) ☆ reblog/retweet the author's fic posts ☆ leave nice comments in the tags or replies ☆ send a nice ask/dm/anon about their work ☆ create a fic rec list or thread ☆ tag others who might enjoy it as well ☆ follow their blog or profile for updates/etc. ☆ follow the tags you're interested in to stay updated on the latest works ☆ once again, if you don't have anything nice to say, you can always choose not to interact with the content! be kind!
ways to support artists/artwork:
☆ purchase from their shops (if they have one!) ☆ commission them (if they accept custom orders!) ☆ 'buy them a coffee' / donate to their ko-fi (if applicable) ☆ reblog/retweet/share their art on whatever platform they post on (but do NOT repost/remove watermark/etc.) ☆ reach out to the artist directly to find out how you can best support them ☆ follow their accounts to stay updated when they post new pieces! ☆ talk about what you liked in the tags or in a comment/message ☆ if you don't like the art/etc., kindly scroll past!
self-promo:
☆ reblog/re-share your own art/writing to make sure it reaches different time zones and demographics ☆ make sure you're tagging your fics and art accordingly to reach your target audience ☆ interact with your readers/viewers for more engagement ☆ get involved in tag games etc. here on tumblr ☆ join (or create!) fests and challenges that you and other writers/artists can take part in ☆ support others in return & be kind!
--
feel free to reblog and add your own ideas if I missed any! there are a million ways to show appreciation, but this is a good start!
no matter why you're here -- whether you're an author, an artist, any other kind of creator, or someone who enjoys the art created by them, publicly or privately, you play such an important role and are actively making this space an uplifting, inspiring community to be a part of. thank you, and continue to create, support, and be kind to one another! :D
I hope you're all having a lovely week, and happy early thanksgiving!

Friends, time to get your high fives out of the crisper drawer.
Here's your card for this edition of the bingo. Remember, zero need to sign up, but if you want to share it with us so we can reblog and share the love, make sure to @ us by Monday, May 1.
Remember this, too: you don't have to complete the card! Any number of these things you can do will be a great high-five to whatever creator you want to shout-out or encourage. Just make sure you provide a link to whatever you're high-fiving about. (Except for 'message a creator', although if you want to brag about the cool person you messaged feel free to link to their work!)
Below the cut you'll find the usual list of definitions for each square in case you need any help or ideas, along with a black & white version of the card if you want to get creative and make it your own.
Here’s the way we’re defining the activities associated with each card. If any of this is confusing after you read it over, send us a message and we’ll help!
- ‘leave kudos on a fic’
This is the easiest one! Just go out and find a fic you like and leave a kudos on it, if you haven’t already. It’s a small gesture but it makes an author know that someone actually read their story!
- ‘reblog/retweet an art post’
Find any art post you like and share it! Here’s the catch: you need to interact with it a little. When you reblog/retweet, please tell the creator what you thought about the piece – you can add some tags, or reply to the post, or quote-retweet or add a comment, or anything! A simple “I love this!” is nice but some details are even better (“your linework is so good!” or “that shade of blue is perfect”). One thing to think about: a lot of art on Tumblr is reposted (like when a user posts another artist’s work from Pixiv, say), so it’s nice if you make an effort to interact with posts that are actually from the creator if you can. That way the artist will see your comment!
- ‘reblog/retweet a fic post’
Same as the above, but for fic! Again, tags/replies/comments are needed, preferably with a little detail. You don’t need to be super eloquent or leave a detailed review (although if you have time/energy, that would be appreciated!); a tag as simple as “that was really cute” or “great characterization!” will do. Like with the art posts, it’s nice if you reblog directly from the writer (if you can) – some fics are posted by AO3 feed bots and the like, so the author may not even know a reblog has happened.
- ‘reblog/retweet an edit’
Same as the above, but for edits! Edits can include a gif set, or a set of screencaps, or even a fanvid. And, again, some simple tags/replies are needed. “I love that song choice!” for a vid or “great coloring!” on a gifset can let people know their work is being appreciated.
- ‘comment on a fic’
Find a fic, on any fic-hosting site you like, and leave a comment. That’s it! Again, no need to leave a novel-length comment (unless you’re inspired!) – a sentence or two is all we’re asking for this square to be considered complete. This is a great opportunity to let a writer know how their piece made you feel, or what section you particularly liked.
- ‘message a creator’
‘Creator’ here can mean anyone who makes *anything* to do with fandom: art, edits, fic, meta, knitted sweaters with character faces on them – if they’ve made anything, they’re a creator, and now’s your chance to let them know they’re appreciated. Send a message (anonymous or not!) letting them know that you enjoyed their work!
- ‘make a rec post’
This is a chance to tell your fandom friends about something they need to see. You can rec a fic, a blog, a fan event, an artist, an author, that person who knits sweaters with character faces – any kind of fandom thing that you want to make sure people see. This doesn’t have to be long or complicated, but feel free to go into as much detail as you want! Just make your own post, on Tumblr or Twitter or wherever else seems best to you, and give that thing you loved a little fanfare.
- ‘interact with a meta post’
A little love for our analytical friends! Here, you can reblog/retweet any kind of meta post for your fandom, whether it’s a three sentence headcanon or an essay-length dissection of why Character X is the absolute best character in Fandom Y. It’s even better if you respond to the meta, whether that’s agreeing or (respectfully!) adding your own thoughts, but sharing it is the main thing here.
And here’s the non-decorated version, in case you feel like making it your own. Get creative, if you want!

March Malec fic rec!
A very big thank you to @just-add-butter for this month's suggestion: Animal transformations! As usual, I'm keeping it to one fic per author, bust several of these authors have multiple fics that apply and even more fics that are wonderful. And, if you want to add you own recs in the replies, tags or reblogs please feel free to do so! (Also if someone has a theme for April please tell me so I can get that list out a bit sooner than at the very end of the month, lol)
I have tagged the authors whose Tumblr account I know, but if you'd prefer I not tag you, please tell me so! I don't want these to be annoying for the authors.
One-shots:
Hop into my arms by @malecfan09: Magnus gets turned into a bunny and it's adorable, what more do you want me to say? This is just fluff, fluff and more fluff.
Summary
Magnus has been magically turned into a bunny by a rogue warlock and Alec looks after him until the spell wears off. *** Flufftober 2023: Day 18 - protecting and Day 20- reading together
Shake Your Fetters Loose by Dreadwyrms: Alec gets turned into a dog and Magnus is NOT a dog person. Post canon with married Malec and again lots of fluff.
Summary:
An investigation into a rogue warlock goes very, very wrong, and Magnus learns he’ll never ever really be a dog person. AKA the one in which Alec accidentally gets turned into a dog.
Everybody (does not) want to be a cat by Falazure: One of the many, many Magnus or Alec get turned into a cat fics on this list.
Summary:
Magnus has suffered worse things in his long life, but being turned into a cat was still up-there on the list of rather annoying inconveniences.
Deepest desires (give in) by @myulalie: Another kitty Magnus fic based on a drawing by @misawkward.
Summary:
Were-cats are good luck by shadowhunters' standards, so when a black, jewelry covered cat appears at the Institute, Alec pays him his respects. He needs it, considering the messes Clary and Jace keep dragging him in. Alec certainly doesn't expect the were-cat to take a liking to him, and even less to start flirting with him...
the catastrophe of success by @alexanderlightweight: A personal favourite Magnus cat fic of mine!
Summary:
Magnus Bane was the most eligible bachelor in the Downworld, sought after by everyone from mundanes to Seelie Princes but a man tired after centuries of heartbreak. In an attempt to gain a respite from his admirers, Magnus proposed a deal. A key to his loft and a path through his wards guarded by his cat, if anyone managed to take the key, Magnus would grant them a date.
Multi-chapter fics or series:
The dragon!Alec series by @to-the-stars-writing, who is perhaps the queen of the dragon Alec fics. I have read and reread every single one of them.
Summary of Building a Clan (aka part one in this series)
Keeping secrets was never easy. Alec should know – he was keeping quite a few. Sometimes it was hard to remember who knew what secrets. The chance of slipping up, the damage that could cause, was unthinkable. There were too many things about himself that he couldn’t let just anyone know. Too many things that marked him as wrong or different, even if he didn’t understand why sometimes. His family were the only ones to know his biggest secret, one that could get him killed if he wasn’t careful. Bad enough that his parents had once been a part of the Circle and extremely close to Valentine himself. If any Shadowhunters – or, Angel forbid, the Clave – ever found out that Maryse had allowed Valentine to inject her with something, mixing what she’d been told was more Angel blood with her unborn child, the ramifications could be catastrophic for their family. More so if they ever found out it wasn’t Angel blood that he’d injected the fetus with. It was dragon blood.
The Warlock's Cat by @dreaming-marchling, which I already put on my end-of-the-year rec list, but it deserves to be here again because So Good. Kitty Alec fic!
Summary
Pain raced up his arm. It was a sharp throb that radiated out. More than a broken bone. When Alec went to flex his hand to see how bad it was he couldn’t. His eyes snapped to his own hand and there was no hand. There was no him. By the Angel… Alec scrambled up on uncoordinated legs – too many legs! – that trembled underneath him. He panted and looked down at himself as best he could. Dark fur. Two paws, one still scorching with pain. The ground not even a foot below him even though he was standing as tall as he could. Reality was screaming at him and Alec couldn’t accept it. His brain couldn’t wrap itself around what was in front of him. That bastard had turned him into a cat.
Shoelaces and Precious Metals by @violet-renegade: Another dragon!Alec fic that is angsty and sweet and just a very nice read.
Summary
Magnus loves Alexander, his proud dragon Shadowhunter, and he knows that Shadowhunters don't display their relationships with collars the way Downworlders do. Magnus always thought he understood what that meant for him and Alec. As it turns out, Magnus didn't understand at all In the early months of their relationship, Alec had let himself wonder about what kind of collar Magnus might offer him. Sometimes, he'd even indulge in the thought that Magnus would coordinate Alec’s collars with his own outfit, marking it clear who Alec belonged to every time they went out. And then Magnus doesn't ask. And doesn't ask. And doesn't ask.
Hearth and Home by @molly_jae: And another Dragon!Alec fic. Yes there are a lot of dragon fics!
Summary of Ichor and Cuddles which is the first part in this two-part series:
“Alexander, I love you,” Magnus sighs, throwing his head back with a thud against the hardwood floor. “But unlike your lovely scales, ichor does not just slide off my limited edition Marc Jacobs jacket, or these pants you love to see my ass in.”
The Warlock's Familiar by @harkasun: Another cat!Alec fic!
Summary:
For over five years, Alec Lightwood has been denied his birth right: that of a familiar to be claimed by a warlock. When he finally finds that warlock, having talked him down from the ledge of Brooklyn Bridge, he despairs to find that the man wants nothing to do with him. With rising pressures from his family, and his warlock’s steadfast determination to shut him out, Alec must talk his way into Magnus’s home and heart. The only question is: how far will he go to claim his fate?

All you have to do is drop a link in the giveaways channel for a fic that features the bond between Dean and Sam. Writing Sprints - Our sprint room is open all the time to anyone who wants to sprint, but next weekend you can win prizes for sprinting! Since a few have asked, writing sprints are where we set a timer, for usually 15-20 minutes but that is up to those sprinting, and you just write. You compete to see who can write the most words. They don't have to be polished words, just words on the page/screen. Some of our members use it kind of like ADHD body-doubling, even if there's no one else around to sprint with them! Competitive sprints mean you get to win prizes, too! If you have any questions about sprints, feel free to ask.
Angel Fish Awards - February is almost over, which means the monthly raffle deadline is approaching! Every fic rec you submit is one entry into the drawing, and there is no limit to how many you can submit! Spread some love and win prizes, too!! SotWK's July Celebration: "Tolkien eGifts" for your Ask Boxes
July is my birthday month, and the first one I'm celebrating on Tumblr. In appreciation of my Followers, I would like to use this occasion to give something to the Tolkien fandom community and spread some cheer throughout the site.
I've been working with the wonderful artist @baek-art, who has created some gorgeous Tolkien character commissions. I used her art to then make what I decided to call "Tolkien eGifts".
Tumblr media
What is a Tolkien eGift?
It is an eCard sent from one person to another via Tumblr Ask Box as a gesture of care and love. Each card has its own LOTR character and "gift" that character brings, representing a wish for the recipient (e.g. health, joy, comfort).
How is a Tolkien eGift used?
I will kick things off by sending these eGifts to some of my Mutuals, and I hope everyone will help me get the ball rolling from there. It takes a community to spread love around!
If/When you receive an eGift in your Box, please feel free to save the image, stick it in a new Ask message, and SEND IT ALONG to someone else's Ask Box. You can even do it on Anon if you're shy!
Please don't forget to reply to your eGift and thank your sender for their thoughtfulness. (Answering an Ask does not count as "reposting", so don't worry!) This helps make the eGifts visible and accessible for others to use.
Send Tolkien eGifts to as many friends/mutuals/strangers as you like, Tolkien fan or not! Send it on its own or add a little personalized message from you. Add a fic rec, a recipe, a sonnet, song lyrics, get creative!
A few important notes regarding use:
Even if you don't receive an eGift directly in your Ask Box (though I hope you do!), you can still save the image from any answered Ask you see and send it to others. This is totally okay!
Please do not use the Tolkien eGifts to make new blog posts. These are meant to be exchanged via Tumblr Ask Boxes as personal notes, not as new posts for your own blog (aka reposting vs reblogging).
While I understand it's probably impossible to police this, please try to keep the eGifts on Tumblr only, to help prevent the misuse/stealing of the artist's work.
Credit to me or the artist baek-art is not necessary. We have already put our signatures/names on the eGift itself, and that suffices.
Tumblr media
Please do not alter/edit the eGift cards or the artwork for your own purposes.
Most importantly: have fun and enjoy the gifts!

guides and faq
there are no restrictions — just include major warnings (mcd, non-con, underage) in your recs!
all pairings and gen fics are welcome during the entire event.
you may list as many recs per post as you want (just one fic or an infinite amount) and as many individual posts per prompt as you want (in case you choose to separate your recs into several eras/tropes etc.)
feel free to post your recs late or early (though i won’t reblog them until the day of the prompt) — the schedule is there for some structure, but if you can’t wait or waited too long it’s not a problem.
you do not need to participate every day.
individual fics can be featured on multiple rec lists.
you are not restricted to only one of the prompts for days with two options. feel free to rec something for both, or combine them!
in case you’ve already posted a rec list that fits the theme in the past, you can mention @spnficrecfest in the replies or a reblog of the post, or send it to me via dm or ask box, and i’ll share it here.
if you’re not sure how to format your rec list, here you can find some suggestions.
you can also submit a rec or rec list.
requests and request fills
to request recs, send me an ask (not a dm) with what you're looking for (as vague or specific as you like). i will publish the request and others can look if they know a few fics you'll like.
to fill a request, you can either reblog the ask post and add your recs or make your own post. (you can mention that you were inspired by a request.)

Mildly important fanwork/fandom interaction questions! Anyone can feel free to answer!
Thinking about fandom interactions, I'm wondering about how we as fan communities can create fun environments and engage with other fans more!
You can answer (or not answer) however many of these questions as you want! The questions bolded with their number in purple are the ones I'm most curious about.
Feel free to reply in the reblogs, tags, or comments!
If you can, please reblog so we can get more answers :)
Questions below!
(There's sections for fans that make fanworks, fans that interact with fanworks, and fans that enjoy fanworks but don't interact.)
Tumblr media
Fans that create fanworks (fanart, fanfic, edits, etc):
A1. What are your favorite kinds of interactions/comments? Ex. Long rambles, analyses and theories, strings of incoherent garbled yelling
A2. Where do you like to get them? Ex. Ao3 vs Tumblr, reblogs vs tags vs comments, in DMs?
A3. Do you want or enjoy people creating stuff inspired by or modifying yours? (Creating as in art of your fic, fic of your art, etc. Modifying as in translations, podfics, etc)
A4. Do you want or enjoy people promoting your stuff? Ex. fic rec lists, sharing in groupchats, posting about your stuff with links to it
A5. How do you feel when you get nice comments or have good interactions?
A6. Most importantly, what would you say to people who are scared to or or don't know how to start interacting with fanworks?
Tumblr media
Fans that enjoy fanworks and interact with them:
B1. What kind of comments do you like leaving and where do you leave them? Ex. Ao3 vs Tumblr, reblogs vs tags vs comments
B2. What makes you more likely to interact?
B3. What made you start interacting?
B4. Have you made any friends or mutuals by commenting and interacting?
B5. Has leaving comments and talking with creatives changed how you feel about or approach your own fanworks?
B6. How has interacting with fanworks and the guys who make them improved your fan experience?
Tumblr media
People that enjoy fanworks but don't interact (no judgment! We're all different 💛):
C1. Do you want to interact more? If you do, what makes you want to comment or interact?
C2. Is there anything holding you back? Ex. nerves, unsure how, bad past experiences, etc.
C3. Do you make your own fanworks? Has that affected (or been affected by) your choice not to interact?
C4. Are there ways other fans could help or encourage you to interact or get involved? Are there any ways you want to encourage yourself?
Tumblr media
THANKS FOR ANSWERING IF YOU DO :D
PS. Add a 💛 or <3 to your response/reblog if you want me to make an anonymous survey focusing on this topic!
I'd compile and post the results so we can see how our fellow fans think :)

hi lovely, do you have any multi-chapter fic recs? like slow burn/tear my heart out type fics?? <3
Tumblr media
sooo you have probably read most—if not all of these already. i try to only rec things i have actually read and unless you’re into papa x reader, i don’t have a ton of multi-chapter offerings for you. an actual travesty! i will say, these are all excellent as rereads. thank you so so so much for the ask! i am truly so obsessed with your writing/gifs/etc. i hope one or more of these piques your interest ♡♡♡
Born Under a Troubled Sign / @iamthecomet / aether x dew x mountain
Dewdrop goes from water to fire. It goes about as well as can be expected.
Bury Me Alive / @high-imperatrix / aether x dew
The ministry performs an unorthodox summoning ritual in their desperate need for a new water ghoul, and Aether finds his life unexpectedly turned upside down. Aether struggles to balance his increasingly more intimate friendship with the new little ghoul with his serious relationship back home—and his growing fear of getting sent back to the pits.
love is all you need (series) / @gayrickgrimes / dew x rain x swiss
a series where i explore swiss, rain, and dewdrop’s developing relationship. featuring polyghouls. they’re all dating, i just want to focus on these three.
The First and The Last / @anamelessfool / omega x terzo
I AM OMEGA. I AM THE FIRST AND THE LAST. I AM THE FIRST OF YOUR GHOULS, AND I WILL BE THERE AT THE VERY END. WHEN YOU DIE. Terzo manifests his first ghoul, Omega, in his first ritual using the gift of the Infernal Eye.
and to anyone else reading this: feel free to add recs of your own either in the replies or reblogs!! i want some multi chapter slow burn tear my heart out fics toooooo (╥﹏╥)

okay so... one of the reasons i started my own werewolf AU was bc i couldn't find werewolf stories that i liked/could read... i am a person who's gone through some Horrors™ in life and the extra aggressive content that's typically laced in werewolf AUs prevents me from reading/finishing most of them out there. with that being said, here are some i dug from my ficrecs/ao3 bookmarks:
Under the Moonlight (Fluff, Mild Angst) by @ppiri-bahng
Untitled [Ft. Werewolf!Changbin] (Smut) by @ppiri-bahng
Our Last Dance (Angst, Fluff. please check the warnings, i cried. this one's sad sad) by @iridescentxstars
Yours (Fluff, Smut) by @imhereforbrownies
Instinct (Fluff, Smut) by @fizzydrink698
Touch 01 & Touch 02 (Smut) by @fizzydrink698
and i know @lettersfromaphrodite has an entire series of werewolf!skz in her masterlist. i haven't read the Chan ones (i don't know why, honestly. i should do that...), but i'm sure they're great
Special mentions to:
Unexpectedly Fallen (Fluff, Smut) by @iridescentxstars (Chan's not a werewolf, but he is Cerberus who's A Dog so it's close enough for me)
Little Red Riding Hood (Fluff, Smut, Angst) by @j-0ne25 (Chan's not a werewolf -at least not explicitly that i remember- but the wolf themes are sprinkled all throughout and it's just a great read tbh)
if anyone reads this and has any recs feel free to add them either in a reblog or a reply !

Tell me your wedding stories!
Writing a wlw wedding planning fic and I'm curious what advice you would have, whether for my fictional couple or for fic writers who write weddings!
What should all couples know? What is a creative wedding-related thing you've seen couples do? What are you grateful for or regret about your own wedding? What do you see writers get wrong (or something a writer nailed)?
Also feel free to share your stories, reception song recs (especially for a sapphic couple), or anything else you want to!
Send an ask so others are more likely to see it, reblog and add to this post, or reply here!

I had to turn off reblogs for about a week because the very earliest, error-ridden version (with the video by a TERF and recs of Israeli accounts) started doing rounds. They're back on now, so feel free to re-boost. If you see that version floating around, please consider asking whoever put it on your dash to click on my username and rb the correct, current version. It's the pinned post on my blog too.
I've had to take a step back from all things genocide and stopped updating this masterlist, so some things, like journalists still left in Gaza and how to support the student protests, are missing because I no longer have the capacity to track these things down on my own. But if you can leave updates and suggested (and verified!) resources along with links in either the replies or my asks I can try and add them. (I've hit the 100 links post limit but I'll see what I can switch out.)
17/12/23 this masterlist has been completely, vetted, revamped and reformatted with free access to all reading and viewing material. It will be updated and edited periodically so please click on my username and reblog the current version directly from me if you're able.

How You Can Help Palestine
How to be an Ally 101
URGENT‼️📢: Global Strike Guide
If any links are broken let me know. Or pull up the current post to check whether it's fixed.
"Knowledge is Israel's worst enemy. Awareness is Israel's most hated and feared foe. That's why Israel bombs a university: it wants to kill openness and determination to refuse living under injustice and racism."
— Dr. Refaat Alareer, (martyred Dec 6, 2023)
From River To The Sea Palestine Will Be Free 🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸
-----
Edit 1: took the first video down because turns out the animator is a terf and it links to her blog. Really sorry for any distress.
Edit 2: All recommended readings + Haymarket recommendations + essential decolonization texts have been uploaded to my linked gdrive. I will adding more periodically. Please do buy or check them out from the library if possible, but this post was made for and by poor and gatekept Global South bitches like me.
Some have complained about the memes being disrespectful. You're actually legally obligated to make fun of Israeli propaganda and Zionists. I don't make the rules.
Edit 3: "The river to the sea" does not mean the expulsion of Jews from Palestine. Believing that is genocide apologia.
Edit 4: Gazans have specifically asked us to put every effort into pushing for a ceasefire instead of donations. "Raising humanitarian aid" is a grift Western governments are pushing right now to deflect from the fact that they're sending billions to Israel to keep carpet bombing Gazans. As long as the blockades are still in place there will never be enough aid for two million people. (UPDATE: PLEASE DONATE to the Gazan's GoFundMe fundraisers to help them buy food and get out of Rafah into Egypt. E-SIMs, food and medical supplies are also essential. Please donate to the orgs linked in the How You Can Help. Go on the strikes. DO NOT STOP PROTESTING.)
Edit 5: Google drive link for academic books folder has been fixed. Also have added a ton of resources to all the other folders so please check them out.
Edit 6: Added interactive maps, Jadaliya channel, and masterlists of donation links and protest support and of factsheets.
The twitter accounts I reposted as it was given to me and I just now realized it had too many Israeli voices and almost none of the Palestinians I'm following, so it's being edited. Check back for more. I also removed sources like Jewish Voices of Peace and Breaking the Silence that do good work but have come under fair criticism from Palestinians.
Edit 7: Complete reformatting
Edit 8: Complete revamping of the social media section. It now reflects my own following list.
Edit 9: removed some more problematic people from the allies list. Remember that the 2SS is a grift that's used to normalize violence and occupation, kids. Supporting the one-state solution is lowest possible bar for allyship. It's "Free Palestine" not "Free half of Palestine and hope Israel doesn't go right back to killing them".
Edit 10: added The Palestine Directory + Al Jazeera documentary + Addameer. This "100 links per post" thing sucks.
Edit 11: more documentaries and films
Edit 12: reformatted reading list
Edit 13: had to remove @palipunk's masterlist to add another podcast. It's their pinned post and has more resources Palestinian culture and crafts if you want to check it out
Edit 14 6th May '24: I've stopped updating this masterlist so some things, like journalists still left in Gaza and how to support the student protests are missing. I've had to take a step back and am no longer able to track these things down on my own, but if you can leave suggestions for updates along with links in either the replies or my asks I can try and add them.

Tumblr media
Friends, rev your high fives.
Here's the card we'll be using for this month's edition of our bingo! Grab it up and get going. Remember, zero need to sign up, but if you want to share it with us so we can reblog and share the love, make sure you do so by next Wednesday, November 2.
Below the cut: a list of definitions for each of the squares in case you need help or ideas (don't worry, those will be added to the FAQs post for easy reference), and a black & white version of the card, in case you just really don't like yellow.
☆ How do I fill my card? How is each square defined?
And here's the non-decorated version, in case you feel like making it your own. Get creative, if you want!

More detailed FAQ under cut:
This account is mdni (21+) please heed the links before asking any questions, I promise there won't be many left.
You can check current commission and requests stats in the header. If you want a print of existing work just lmk in the comments and I'll add it to my RedBubble shop. Sometimes I also like to do drawing requests, especially if I vibe with the idea and like the concept, but my schedule is pretty busy nowadays and sending me prompt doesn't guarantee I'll immediately skip everything else including my irl commitments to draw a new request right this minute.
Reblogs are very welcome, reposts are bad. I usually don't allow reposts, which means if you see my drawings or edits posted elsewhere (TikTok, Facebook, Etsy, Reddit, etc) they were taken without my permission. So please don't repost my art, here you can learn why. However, you can use my art as a pfp/icon or theme header with properly given credit.
Please be respectful and don't tag celebs in my n$fw works. I think it's self-explanatory.
If you prefer to see less fandom shitposting/sketches/wips, but more finished, structurized content I'd recommend to follow my IG. There's also a n$fw-only side Twitter that I share on request.
I reblog my own works with tags "#srb" and "#comment reply", fics I read with "#jules reads" and others' art with "#art recs". Ask replies go under "#jules rants". Feel free to filter any of those and lmk if you need anything else tagged.
Enjoy your stay!

eli’s masterlist of hp fic rec masterlists
decided to make a masterlist of various HP (mainly H/D) fic masterlists + reccers i usually refer back to when looking for both specific and random fics !
this list will be updated as regularly as possible, scroll to the bottom for updates
PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU WOULD LIKE ME TO REMOVE YOUR TAG/MASTERLIST FROM THIS LIST (i will do it asap, let me know either by replying to this post or through a PM)
feel free to reblog/reply/PM me if you have any other masterlists you think i should add to this! they don’t have to be H/D recs, they can be any HP fic recs!
MASTERLISTS
lists (often sorted by themes, tropes, etc) that you can turn to to find any type of fic you’re looking for. they will be labeled as Extensive (E), Detailed (D) and Brief (B)
(in order of which are most to least detailed. pls note that this is based on both my opinion and the length of these lists, and does not determine how good a masterlist is. Brief masterlists can be just as good as Extensive ones.)
@capiturecs ‘s H/D masterlist
(D) great list with plenty of different themes and tropes to choose from. it is located on LiveJournal. make sure to check out their other masterlists, 'A Simpler Masterlist' (D) and 'Themed Recs' (E)
@sitp-recs ‘s Drarry recs
(E) this is probably the one i turn to the most, simply because i find it super accessible and easy to use! i also absolutely adore Liv’s taste in fics, which is alway a bonus when searching for new fics to read. check out the other rec lists (can be found in the pinned post) on this account as well, which are just as great!
@drarryspecificrecs ‘s Thematic Recs masterlist
(E) this one is sooo detailed, which is great, i love it! i also absolutely adore the way their recs work, that is, instead of only reccing fics (which they do as well), they also provide links to rec lists (for specific themes/tropes) by other accounts, as well as links to AO3 tags that may be useful to find a specific type of fic! they also have links to fest lists in their bio, which i recommend checking out as well
@ferretlovesscarhead ‘s Taglist
(E) so many possible tags to choose from! this is so well organized, and a great tool for finding fics. but make sure to open the link on desktop, if you can! while it is usable on mobile, i find it to be much more accessible on desktop. this account also has what seems to be a masterlist of every fic they’ve recced on this account (in alphabetical order). i have yet to use that masterlist, but it looks detailed, despite not being organized by theme!
@drarryruinedme7 ‘s Rec Masterlist
(B) despite how brief it is, this masterlist is absolutely lovely. it’s so straightforward and easy to use, definitely a great place to start if you are feeling overwhelmed by the longer lists!
@dragontamerdame ‘s Masterlist
(E) oh how i love this masterlist! the way it is organized is absolutely lovely, and i looove all the options they have for careers for draco and harry. they also link other fic rec lists they have made on this post, which is great! make sure to check out their AO3 bookmarks for more recs (linked in their pinned post)
@krystalliumm ‘s Masterlist: Recs
(B) yet another masterlist i love turning to when i’m looking for something easy to navigate! and oh my, Khrys’s recs are great! i love the 'soft draco + protective harry' list!
@gracerene09’s Recs Masterlist
(D) so, this is something a bit different. this is actually a masterlist of various other masterlists this person has made, for several fandoms. there are currently four HP lists, including H/D Recs, Non-H/D HP Recs, FBWTFT Recs, and Art Recs!
other masterlists mentioned include the following fandoms: Teen Wolf, AFTG, Avengers, Check Please!, Criminal Minds, Dresden Files, Heroes, The Hobbit, Hunger Games, Inception, James Bond, Kingsman, LOTR, Merlin, 1D, Percy Jackson, The Raven Cycle, TMI, Sherlock, Smallville and Song of Ice and Fire. make sure to check those out as well if you’re looking for recs in those fandoms!
@justdrarryme ‘s Drarry Fic Rec Masterlist
(D) i’ve recently discovered this masterlist and can’t wait to use it! it’s organized in two categories: length and trope. make sure to click 'Keep Reading' to see the full masterlist!
@thedrarrylibrarian ‘s Card Catalog
(D) such a great masterlist! i use it often, and love browsing the different tags this masterlist offers. the librarian has a lovely 'new to drarry' rec list that i recommend checking out!
@themalfoymanner ‘s Drarry Fics Recs Masterlist
(D) another one i’ve only recently discovered! though Emily is no longer reccing fics, they still have several of their masterlists available, including her Scorbus Masterlist.
@snowgall ‘s #fanfiction recs and Masterlist For This Blog
(none) i unfortunately do not know how to link a specific tag and make it so that it only shows the results for one account, but fortunately, you can easily access this tag in their bio, under the link 'fandom and fic recs'. be aware that this seems to included non-HP fics as well, though you can find drarry-specific posts by clicking on the 'drarry' link.
EDIT: (E) their "Masterlist For This Blog" on LiveJournal is very extensive and has plenty of subcategories, definitely recommend giving it a look!
@potter-loves-malfoy ‘s Rec Lists
(D) a masterlist that makes every single one of their 3+ fic rec lists since 2017 super accessible!
@wistfulrat ‘s Another Drarry FicRec List Thrillers, Drama, Soft Bois, Wankbanks
(D) this collection of ficrec lists is so so good, filled with absolutely amazing fics. i go back to the 'drama' one all the time
@hogwartsfirebolt ‘s Netfic Recs
(D) such a creative way of reccing fics, i love it! make sure to check out their other rec lists as well :)
@somegymnast ‘s Masterlist
(B) recently reblogged on sitp’s account! i only just discovered it today so i haven’t had a chance to fully check it out yet, but it seems like a lovely masterlist!
EDITED: @dictacontrion ‘s Masterlist
(E) such a lovely rec list! not only is it a masterlist of their own works, but it’s also a masterlist of their recs. they also have a 'recommended rec lists' link at the bottom, for even more recs by several different people! I’ll also link their Tumblr Recs, which aren’t part of a masterlist but still are a great place to find new fics.
honorable mentions:
@sturm-und-drarry
(none) this isn’t exactly a masterlist, but this account is basically an archive for plenty of amazing angst and dark H/D fics and art
@gameofdrarry
(none) a fic fest account that also happens to be a great place to find fics!
EDITED: @dictacontrion 's List of HP and H/D Bogs
(none) this isn’t a fic rec masterlist, but rather a list of other HP accounts, including fic reccers !
that’s it for today! (updated july 27, 2021). i’ll update this asap with more masterlists/places to find recs!

Your first 5 tags are the most important for visibility, as they are the ones that show up in tracked tags & tag pages. Make them count! The following 15 ones show up in searches (Search results and direct tag pages are different) and your own blog’s tag pages.
Reblogging someone’s post with tags won’t make it appear in the tumblr tag page. Only the original post does that
There’s vague etiquette on what goes in an actual reblog comment and what goes in the tags of a reblog. imo simple affirming comments such as compliments go in the tags (too many reblog comments make going through a post tiresome and kind of ugly on some themes) while stuff you think would be useful for others to know or an amusing addition goes in the actual reblog comment space. The latter, is of course, subjective to personal opinion
USE A READMORE FOR YOUR WRITING/EXTRA LONG POSTS. While there is a “shorten posts on the dashboard” option in the settings, it’s still basic courtesy to shorten things as it makes browsing easier. Do not think that not adding a readmore will make people read your whole writing it will simply piss them off and possibly make them block you.
You can add a readmore with either the rectangle with three dots in it button or the two horizontal lines with a zigzag in between when you make a new line
Turn on “Enable custom theme” in the blog settings! This grants access to your archive, a grid view of your posts over time and is nice to look at for an overview of your blog. It also enables links that people can view without logging in
It also enables tumblr theme customization, a fun way to personalize your blog on desktop. A dying art but a very fun treat. (Feel free to send me a message if you want theme recs, I love themes)
If you’re a desktop user, go download XKit Rewritten for HUGE quality of life changes such as quick tagging/reblogs, replying to reply notifications as a new post, and accessibility options.
Reblog Karma is etiquette where if you reblog an ask game from someone, you should send them an ask for the game. It fosters more interaction & also encourages them to send you an ask in return!
So since there's some Twitter folks running over here from their burning ship (again), here's a handy little guide on Tumblr 101
Also some tips
Tumblr doesn't really have an algorithm, so be liberal with reblogging your posts if you want people to see them!
Likes won't show up on people's dashboards like they do on Twitter. Think of likes more like a filing system for yourself (and others if they look into your likes). Reblogs are always better than likes if you love someone's stuff and want to share it!
TAGS TAGS TAGS don't be afraid of slapping tags onto things, but don't just put random ones on there or that's considered spam (and it's also kinda rude). Personally I like to use tags as a means to keep shit organized on my blog, but I also use some so people can find my screens and such when they search the FFXIV and FFXIV screenshots tag
Posts from YEARS ago are constantly passed around on this site, so don't be afraid to reblog whatever you wanna reblog regardless of when it was made
