trust i will be sending more of these tomorrow when im not actively trying to fall asleep, but for now:
🎂 BIRTHDAY CAKE — when is your oc's birthday? how old are they? what are their sun, moon, & rising signs (if known)? what about their tarot card, ruling planet, & ruling number (if known)? do they fit the typical traits of these sun, moon, & rising signs?
for Constantine definitely. and extra credit for any others (although this is a meaty one so i understand if you don’t wanna do this for all of them)
ooooooo ok!! i know nothing about zodiacs so i will be humbly bowing out of that part (which is, like, 80% of this, sorry <:} in exchange i WILL be doing the extra credit)
Constantine's a hellavua lot younger than people expect. there's a scene bouncing around in my head of preston+sturges reacting to finding out how old he is that i haven't written yet but it's there, trust. [quick search to make sure i'm not messing up my timeline here] anyway he's like, 30 at the time of the game starting, absolute maximum. i've been thinking of him at 26-28. the scars and eyebags and scruff beard do a lot to age him maxson WISHES-
Nora and Hestia are around the same age as Constantine. maybe Nora is a year or two older.
Sirenity is uhhhhh. getting up there, but not old. thinking mid-to-late-40s by their jaunt to the Commonwealth so they can conceivably be older than Hancock because THAT'S a thing that my brain decided would be funny and therefore true, so that puts them at late 30s by the events of fnv.
asking how old Sleeper is is like asking how old the ship of theseus is
Captain and Keeper are around the same age. 35ish when the bombs dropped, so they're both nearing their 250th birthdays at the time of fo4 which is fun! their 245th anniversary would also be coming up, and i think they'd celebrate their anniversaries more than their birthdays, but big milestone numbers like that are important regardless of feelings on the matter [EDIT: they did NOT get married at 5. i just spotted that misrake but it's so late and j do not have the brain for math right now]
#another everyone feature!#i know i said i would do this in the car but i am posting this safely within the blankets of this bed soooooo#edit i'm a little silly captain and keeper did NOT get married at 5#secondhand's fallout ocs#answered!#courier sirenity#secondhand's ocs#constantine (sosu)#secondhand nora#hestia (oc)#secondhand sleeper#the captain (oc)#the keeper (oc)

Ok so as far as I remember the minor gods like Hestia or Nyx or Nemesis don't have cabins until the end of the series when Percy makes his deal with the gods
Ooh gotcha - thanks! For some reason I thought that Hestia was one of the Twelve Olympians. But I just looked it up and apparently the 12th Olympian is usually either Dionysus or Hestia
#also I haven't read the books in forever but I guess they go into it in the last olympian#since that is where she is featured#but I don't remember haha#thanks for the explanation!#really appreciate it :)#hestia#percy jackson#pjo#percy jackson and the olympians#wheel of whimsy#answering asks in the palace

Amongst Demigods¹
Between The Gods And The Unknown
f1 x reader
or... the one where you find home one a new place
word count : 780
warning : none, english is not my first language!!!
check masterlist for more parts of the series!!

🏛️🏎️
you stepped into the clearing, camp half-blood stretching out before you like a world entirely separate from everything you’d known. the cabins were scattered around in a horseshoe shape, each distinct in design, representing the different gods of olympus. as a new arrival, though, your place was in the hermes cabin - at least until you were claimed by your godly parent.
the hermes cabin was crowded, filled with unclaimed demigods just like you. the chaotic energy was almost overwhelming, but there was something comforting in the way everyone was thrown together, no one quite knowing where they belonged yet. you dropped your bag next to an empty bunk, taking a deep breath. this was your new reality, and you’d have to get used to it quickly.
the first day passed in a blur of introductions, camp orientation, and a somewhat chaotic lunch in the dining pavilion. you sat by yourself, unsure where to fit in among all the cabins and their clearly established groups. that changed quickly when a group of demigods approached your table, trays in hand, looking as if they’d been at camp for years.
“you must be new,” a boy with curly brown hair and a bright smile said as he slid into the seat across from you. “I’m lando, son of poseidon.”
his casual introduction made you blink in surprise. lando radiated an air of laid-back confidence, but something about him reminded you of the ocean - restless and ever-changing.
“nice to meet you,” you replied, offering a small smile. “I’m… well, unclaimed.”
“ah, don’t worry, happens to the best of us,” another boy said, dropping into the seat next to lando. his features were sharp, his hair tousled like he’d been in the sun all day. “I’m charles, son of apollo.”
lando and charles introduced you to the others at the table. carlos, son of hephaestus, had a calm and sturdy demeanor, much like what his father was known for. oscar, son of athena, was quiet but sharp, clearly always thinking two steps ahead. george, son of hermes and counselor of the hermes cabin, gave you a warm smile, recognising you from earlier. he made sure you felt welcome, cracking jokes and assuring you that not being claimed yet didn’t make you any less of a demigod.
“if you ever need help with anything, just ask. we’ve all been there,” george said, his grin easygoing as he took a bite of his sandwich. “besides, we hermes kids take care of our own.”
“thanks,” you said, feeling the tension in your chest ease just a little.
over the next few days, you started to settle into the rhythm of camp life. mornings were filled with combat training and lessons on ancient greek history. afternoons were for archery practice, where charles proved he was as good a shot as his father, and sparring sessions, where daniel, son of ares, always managed to turn every fight into a competition. max, the son of artemis, was surprisingly quiet, preferring to stick to the woods, but when he was around, you noticed he had an air of focus and intensity that set him apart from the others.
you often found yourself hanging out with lando and george between lessons. lando had an infectious energy, always dragging you into some adventure or convincing you to race him by the lake. george, on the other hand, was the one who kept things organized, making sure no one got into too much trouble - though with hermes as his father, that wasn’t always an easy task.
“you’ll get used to the chaos,” lando said one afternoon as the two of you sat by the campfire. “it’s kind of what camp is all about.”
as the days turned into weeks, you found yourself drawn into the camp’s tightly-knit group of demigods. there was lewis, son of zeus, who seemed to command attention without even trying, and ollie, son of hestia, who had a quiet warmth about him, always making sure everyone felt included. kimi, the son of demeter, was constantly tending to the camp’s gardens, while lance, son of hera, had an air of calm and authority that balanced the group. yuki, son of hecate, often practiced spells on the sidelines, a grin on his face as he perfected his craft. alex, son of asclepius, was always offering healing tips after sparring matches, and franco, son of eros, had a way of charming everyone he spoke to.
every night, as you returned to the crowded hermes cabin, you couldn’t help but feel that maybe, just maybe, you were starting to find your place. being unclaimed wasn’t so bad when you had friends like these.

Reading your demigod post, I liked it. I actually want demigod! Yuu who is related to Hestia.
sure thing, ask and you shall receive
𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐈𝐅 𝐘𝐔𝐔 𝐈𝐒 𝐀 𝐃𝐄𝐌𝐈 𝐆𝐎𝐃 ( 𝐇𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐀 ) 🔥

A demigod is a divine mythological figure, a god who is either part human, or a minor god. In ancient Greece, dead heroes were sometimes thought of as demigods. Greek and Roman mythology have their share of demigods, and so do many other ancient religions and traditions.
Demi god!Yuu takes immense pride in making Ramshackle Dorm a welcoming space for everyone. It’s not just a place to live—it’s a home. They have an almost magical ability to keep the fire always burning in the hearth, no matter how cold or chaotic things get. Ramshackle smells of baked bread, warm spices, and something uniquely comforting whenever demi-god!Yuu is around.
Their magic is centered around protective fire. Their flames never burn destructively unless they wills it—they warm, soothe, and shield. During fights, they conjures a dome of fire around their allies, and they even use smaller flames to guide lost souls through dark places, like a guardian light.
They also have a talent at food magic, the food that they always make held magical capabilities, they are able to heal, enhance and banish anxiety. Their cooking has the ability to rejuvenate and heal the bodies and soul of those who ate it.
They also have a habit of finishing their food in half of it and then throw the unfinished in the fire, when multiple students ask why they did it, they said it's a way to say thank you to their mother.
Demi-God!Yuu is the grounding force in Grim’s chaotic life. Their relationship is much like a motherly bond—Grim causes chaos, and they quietly fixes it. Despite Grim’s mischievous nature, he often finds himself curling up by their side when the day is over, soaking in the warmth and comfort only they can provide.
Ramshackle has been transformed from its previously rundown state into a warm, inviting space. They have added soft, plush furniture like oversized couches, armchairs, and thick rugs, making it perfect for lounging or gathering with friends. The walls are decorated with warm earth tones and rustic, simple decor—wooden shelves, woven tapestries, and small plants give the dorm a homey, lived-in feel
.In the spirit of family and unity, there’s a large, handcrafted wooden dining table in the center of the kitchen, where they often serves meals to friends. The table is always set with mismatched, yet charming dishware, and they keeps it stocked with fresh bread, fruit, and snacks. Meals at Ramshackle are a communal affair, with friends from different dorms often dropping by for food and conversation.
The central feature of Ramshackle Dorm under Demi-godYuu care is a large, ever-burning hearth located in the common room. The fire never goes out, providing warmth and comfort to anyone who enters. The flames are magical, casting a gentle golden light that fills the room with a sense of safety. It’s both literal and symbolic, representing their connection to their mother and their role as the heart of the dorm.
Ramshackle has become a popular spot for study sessions under their watch. They’ll prepare snacks, light the fireplace, and create a quiet, warm environment perfect for focusing on schoolwork. The other students find it easier to concentrate when their around, as their calm energy balances the stress of academics.
The kitchen is the heart of Demi-God Yuu’s hospitality. It’s an open space with hanging pots and pans, shelves lined with herbs and spices, and a large brick oven where they bakes their famous bread and hearty meals. There’s always something cooking, filling the dorm with the scent of fresh-baked goods and simmering stews. The fire in the oven is controlled directly by their magic, ensuring perfect heat for every dish.
During free time trey, Jamil and them would try new baking and cooking recipes. You would always expect them at the school's kitchen or at the ramshackle kitchen cooking a hearty meal for students to enjoy.
Btw behind ramshackle holds a garden filled with vegetables and fruits Demi-God!yuu grow by themselves during free time you can always find them tending to the vegetables and for those who steal without permission is gonna suffer from their raft.
Ruggie enjoys their present, since they always give him free food. Or when he's tired and needs a place to rest you can always find him in ramshackle enjoying a meal prepared by Demi-God!yuu.
They love organizing small celebrations or get-togethers for special occasions. Whether it’s someone’s birthday or a dorm victory, they’ll create an event with homemade food, decorations, and warm fires to keep everyone cozy. These small festivals quickly become a favorite tradition among their friends, who look forward to their thoughtful touches.
They have a habit of collecting small, comforting objects from their friends and surroundings—little tokens like handmade charms, smooth stones, or dried flowers. These trinkets serve as reminders of the bonds they’ve formed with others, and they often places them on shelves or keeps them in pockets to carry that warmth with them.
At the end of the day, Demi-God yuu has a ritual of sitting by the fire, quietly meditating or reflecting on the events of the day. They’ll let the flames dance in front of them, using the soft crackling sound to clear their mind. Sometimes friends will join, creating a peaceful, bonding moment before heading off to bed.
They also often crafts small protective charms out of clay, fire, and herbs, infused with a spark of their divine power. These charms are designed to ward off harm and bring good fortune to those who carry them. Many of their friends have one, often worn as a necklace or tucked into a pocket. The charm glows faintly when danger is near, reminding everyone of their protective nature.
Though demigod-Yuu is kind and gentle, they are fiercely protective when it comes to their friends. They don’t always show it, but they’re constantly aware of everyone’s well-being, ready to step in if something goes wrong. Their quiet but vigilant nature means that danger rarely catches them off guard. When someone threatens those they care about, their flames burn hotter and more intense, transforming them from a peaceful caretaker into a protector.
Demi-God Yuu has an incredible emotional intuition, able to sense when something is off with their friends, even when they try to hide it. Whether it’s the way someone’s aura feels cooler than usual or how they’re behaving more distantly, they will pick up on the smallest shifts and offer quiet support. This makes them a comforting presence, as people don’t have to explain themselves for them to understand.
They can channel their fire magic into healing flames. When someone is injured, they place their hands over the wound and allow a gentle warmth to radiate, accelerating the healing process. These flames don’t burn or hurt but instead bring a soothing, regenerative warmth that makes physical injuries heal faster and leaves the person feeling rejuvenated.
Their clothing is enchanted to be fireproof, both for practical and aesthetic reasons. They often wear outfits that are warm and cozy, like oversized sweaters, soft scarves, and long skirts or pants. Their style is practical but has a rustic charm, blending comfort with the feeling of being always ready for action. The clothes seem to emit a slight warmth as well, making others feel comforted when standing close to them.
They also carries a small, portable cooking kit that includes a tiny pot, a collapsible spatula, and a few spices. While it may seem strange, this kit is perfect for impromptu cooking, whether it's brewing a quick soup or making tea. Their always ready to cook, no matter where they are.
Demi-God Yuu can communicate with fire spirits and small ember-like creatures. These spirits sometimes act as helpers or companions, flitting around them, providing warmth, guidance, or even playful company. These little spirits are drawn to their hearth-like energy and often appear when they need a reminder of home or emotional support.
While they are known for their warmth, they carry a deep sadness from feeling like an outsider. Their divine heritage often makes it difficult to fully connect with their peers, leading them to struggle with feelings of inadequacy or not belonging. They share their feelings only with their closest friends, who help remind them of their worth and the positive impact they have on those around them.
Demi-God Yuu has a collection of unique candles from different places, each with its own story. They love to light these candles during study sessions or gatherings, filling the room with various scents that evoke memories and feelings of comfort.
They carrie a small, intricately designed keychain shaped like a flame that their mother gave them as a child. It serves as a reminder of Hestia’s love and protection and brings them comfort in challenging times. They often hold it when feeling anxious.
Malleus has a soft spot for them, often visiting their room to enjoy the warmth and peace it provides. He feels a connection to their hearth-like energy, which calms him in moments of solitude. They share a special bond over their understanding of loneliness.
Demi-God Yuu holds various superstitions related to their heritage, such as always carrying a lucky charm or lighting a candle before an important event. They believe these rituals help them connect with Hestia and bring them good fortune.
Demi-God Yuu has an affinity for puns, especially ones related to fire or warmth. Their friends groan at Demi-God Yuu’s dad jokes, but they can’t help but laugh because of their contagious enthusiasm and genuine joy in sharing them.
They enjoy spending time with Lilia, as he appreciates the warmth they bring to any gathering. They often have deep conversations about life, family, and finding purpose, bonding over their shared experiences as guardians of their respective communities.
They also keeps a journal filled with recipes from around the world. They aspire to learn about different culinary traditions and eventually host an international potluck at NRC, encouraging everyone to share their heritage.

How to “phase out” a character to focus on other ones?
I started to create an OC character for a fan fiction/fan comic, but then I realized that I actually hate my OC and was planning on phasing her out of the story entirely so that way the story is fixed by having everyone in the story forget her, leading to the plot going on as if my OC were never there to begin with. After that, I won’t have to deal with a shitty Mary Sue character. Can you please help me know how to get rid of her?
Writing Ideas: Getting Rid of a Character
your character...
Goes on an independent adventure/quest
Goes to prison
Gets transferred to a different department
Is taken out of focus; they're in the background
Moves to a different city
Seeks education or training
Settles down to a regular life
Simply disappears into limbo; everyone carries on as if the character never existed
Examples
A Feast for Crows: Tyrion Lannister, Daenerys Targaryen, and Bran Stark, three central POVs of the first three books, disappear entirely, while Jon Snow is mostly absent, being reduced to a cameo in Samwell's chapter. Sansa and Arya Stark still appear but are relegated to a few chapters. Davos Seaworth is absent, as well, meaning the Stannis Baratheon subplot isn't featured.
A Series of Unfortunate Events: The wart-faced man from Count Olaf's troupe disappears after the 1st book and is never mentioned again. He also didn't reappear in the movie that was made 5 years later.
In a 1940 essay on Charles Dickens, George Orwell noted that Dickens derailed his characters all the time, and is "never better than when he is building up some character who will later on be forced to act inconsistently."
Hestia from Classical Mythology. She was actually very important to the ancient Greco-Roman religion, being the goddess of the hearth and thus patron of the family and community; however, she's only in a handful of stories, in contrast to her siblings (Zeus, Hera, Demeter, Poseidon and Hades) and their many children.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians: Thalia Grace gets "put on a bus" for book four after joining the Hunters of Artemis.
In The Divine Comedy, Virgil leaves Dante just before the end of Purgatorio because as one of the Damned, he cannot enter Heaven. He spends the rest of the Poem back in the first circle of Hell, although Dante thinks of him during later discussions of God's justice.

hi!!! in one of your tags in some posts you talked about how Poseidon and Hesitia is fond of Apollo, is there sources for it? and also wondering how the other gods treat apollo (i distinctly remember about apollo carrying his bow when meeting thanathos (which thanathos pointed out) in admentus'(?) myth i believe)
Hii anon. So, I can share with you why I think so! But you're free to draw your own conclusions.
Hestia - in two of her hymns she is said to tend to Apollo's house in Delphi. In one of those hymns (by Aristonous), she is even dancing and singing with Apollo. Hestia doesn't have a lot of myths to begin with, and we have next to nothing about her relationship/feelings about the other gods. So her being close to Apollo seems like a special thing (and afaik, no one other than Hermes and Apollo feature in her hymns)
Poseidon - in Ovid's Metamorphoses, Poseidon straight up calls Apollo his favorite nephew. Though, even setting that aside, they both have a lot of shared history. Poseidon assisted Leto during her labour, he is also said to have gifted Delphi to Apollo. Or in an alternate version, he exchanged Delphi with another city that Apollo owned. Regardless of which version, I think it shows the amicable relationship these two shared. They also served under Laomedon as slaves and built the walls of Troy. I think that entire experience must have brought them even closer together. In the Iliad, Poseidon was angry at Apollo for siding with Troy and even tried to provoke Apollo into a duel but Apollo respectfully refused. But we can assume that Poseidon also came around eventually, considering that after the war ended, they both together demolished the remains of the city. And in Ovid's Metamorphoses, Poseidon is the one who requested Apollo to kill Achilles, and Apollo agreed both for the sake of his uncle as well as his own rage.
The other gods also treat Apollo with respect and he's well liked by them (except for Hera lol)

So Athena (and Aphrodite) were both born asexually and fully grown and I think that would lead to really funny altercations.
Athena sitting down with her new baby siblings (Artemis and Apollo) being surprised by their tiny size and pudgy facial features but still trying to be respectful by holding a deep conversation about the art of war while Apollo (the walking night light) is napping and Artemis is gnawing on her armour.
Toddler Dionysius asks Athena and Aphrodite "where do babies come from" and they both give wildly wrong conflicting answers.
Athrodite keeps knitting outfits for birthdays but keeps underestimating the sizing, creating a baby grow for Ares who's now the size of the Cretan bull (he finds it funny and is deeply thankful for the time Aphrodite put into making the present).
Hestia once asked Athena to help babyproof the dodecatheon and she was like "what are these babies you speak of and why of we gods so scared of them that we must prepare for their siege?!"
Athena is not allowed to purchase mortal alcohol because the mortals cannot figure out how the law should apply to her.

Here he is! Full Apollo design + some exploration of how the gods work in the retelling that exists only in my head 🙃
At first I wanted to make him 190 and 260cm tall but then I realised that people were much shorter in the ancient times.
Some info
Gods can be any hight they want but they do have their prefered hight (for both human desguise and godly form)
They can also make their eyes look normal (golden in Apollo's case) in God From but they prefere the glowing ones ✨️. Humans turned gods usually have a preference for human looking eyes tho (Asclepius, Aristaeus)
The True God form usually has some animal features (Artemis has antlers) or looks like they are made af an element (water for Posaidon, fire for Hestia and so on)
I'm still figuring things out so some of those might change in the future.
#reposting bc it didn't show up in the tags#again#Apollo#greek gods#greek mythology#greek pantheon#my art#characacter design#apollon#greek myths#greek myth art

Navaornis hestiae Chiappe et al., 2024 (new genus and species)
(Type skull of Navaornis hestiae [scale bar = 10 mm], from Chiappe et al., 2024)
Meaning of name: Navaornis = [discoverer of the original fossil and the site where it was found] William Nava's bird [in Greek]; hestiae = for Hestia [Greek goddess of architecture]
Age: Late Cretaceous (Santonian–Campanian)
Where found: Adamantina Formation, São Paulo, Brazil
How much is known: A nearly complete skull. Some associated bones from the rest of the skeleton likely belong to the same individual. A partial braincase from the same locality probably comes from a different individual of the same species.
Notes: Navaornis was an enantiornithean, a group of bird-like, usually flight-capable dinosaurs from the Cretaceous. It is one of a handful of enantiornitheans known to have been toothless, giving its skull a superficial resemblance to those of modern birds. However, Navaornis was unlike modern birds (and more like typical non-bird dinosaurs) in the proportions of the bones making up its upper jaw and the lack of a mobile joint in its palate.
The skull of Navaornis is so well preserved that the overall shape and structure of its brain can be reconstructed, a first for an enantiornithean. Similar to birds today, its brain was arched so that its brainstem pointed somewhat downward instead of backward, and the main part of the brain devoted to cognition was relatively enlarged (though not to the same extent as in modern birds). On the other hand, its cerebellum (part of the brain involved in coordinating movement) was relatively small. An especially unusual feature of Navaornis was its greatly enlarged inner ear, the functional significance of which is unknown.

A standardized set of twelve gods could be thought of as a ‘representation of the pantheon’, which is common to all cities. Thus, it is an integrative feature, almost a Panhellenic one. If so, you might think that the members of Dodekatheon would always be the same, but in fact the members varied like everything else in Greek religion. The most often cited group is: Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Demeter, Apollo, Artemis, Ares, Aphrodite, Hermes, Athena, Hephaistos and Hestia. Some are more secure in their position than others. Hestia and Ares tend to be the first to be jettisoned and we may find Dionysos, Herakles or Hades sneaking in. But the variations are often even greater. One strikingly aberrant list is the Olympic one, known from Herodorus, where the deities were arranged in six pairs: Zeus and Poseidon, Hera and Athena, Hermes and Apollo, the Charites and Dionysos, Artemis and the river Alpheios, Kronos and Rhea. ... The Olympian Dodekatheon is the best attested variant pantheon, but there may have been others. At Chalkedon, the twelve established by the Argonauts are reported by Herodorus (again) to have included Hades, apparently replacing Ares. Hades–Plouton was also included in Plato’s Laws. There may be another variant Dodekatheon at Pherai in Thessaly, where Stephan Miller reconstructed an altar with the heads of six named goddesses, which are plausibly taken as the female side of a Dodekatheon, and which include Einodia (a form of Artemis?) and also Themis. - Ian Rutherford, Canonizing the Pantheon: The Dodekatheon in Greek Religion and its Origins
Discussions and works based on Greek myth are often so rigid about which gods should or shouldn't belong to the dodekatheon, given the variations that existed in Antiquity. It looks as if the only debatable place is that of Hestia or Dionysos, but the idea of the six altars at Olympia and the altar of the six goddesses at Pherai indicate that Aphrodite, Demeter, Artemis or Hera could also be absent from the Twelve, not just Hestia. Dionysos could be excluded, but so could Ares and Hephaistos. It is also misleading when people speak of the gods as the "twelve Olympians" with the implication that "Olympians" are necessarily a select group of only 12 gods (when for instance Herakles also could be worshipped as one of the Olympians as attested in Herodotos, Histories 2.44 and the Muses are called Olympian by Hesiod), or that the twelve must necessarily live on Olympos. It's the 12 gods, not the 12 Olympians.
