Hi hello I’m never shutting up about this whole thing and here’s why:

1. I’m sorry I didn’t want to put the Marina bit in it but I wanted to include S kissing T on the forehead.

2. Tessa jumping up and down and saying “yaaaAAAYYyyy. Omg what a freaking precious bby angel! How many times can you recall her being this excited after a skate!? And this isn’t a reaction to the marks or placement bc they haven’t even come up completely until the very end of this clip where the announcer says they are 2nd. It was a reaction to their performance. A performance it seemed they were so inside of it gave everyone chills- completely transporting everyone out of that arena and into the street of Paris. They themselves got taken away by their own storytelling and once off the ice they can’t contain the excitement of the feelings they just experienced, let alone nailing every element. She especially was just bubbling over with joy!!

3. And it seems scootie wanted a piece of that bc he brings her in and holds her so close, she’s bubbling so much she almost collapses into him and he is 100% there to feel all her joy bubbling out. This is 1000% the laugh-cry happening here, maybe the first time it’s happen or maybe there have been others before and so when he knows it’s coming he wants to experience all of it! That’s his favourite sound btw and he wants to hear her making it only for him.

4. The way he looks up to the screen as he cradles her, taking it in in time that they are making history, 11 years so far together trying to become the best and it’s actually happening. Yes, they were second over all here, but they won the FD and had the skate of their life on the world stage (the first of many’s skates of their lives). They’ve been saying that he is the one in their partnership that ‘always knew’ they were destined for greatness and would do anything for them to succeed- and now it’s actually happening and it’s the best feeling in the world.

5. The head cradle 😭 he’s already holding her so close she collapsed on him, both hands wrapped around and whispering in her ear, then he goes and makes it softer by holding her head and his hand getting lost in her hair. All of this is just one of the most perfect visual encapsulations of their friendship- their best friendship they have had for more than half their very young lives at this point. The kind of friendship many people may claim they themselves have but do they really, where you can completely let go of all inhibitions and succumb to the emotions of the moment and fall into someone knowing they will hold you until you are through it- that being good or bad. In this case just the utter joy they have for what they have achieved together. So few times they really let themselves be excited and celebrate their achievements like they deserved to. Maybe it was their relative obscurity to the world at this point. Under the microscope for their athlete prowess for a long time-yes, but not so much the fascination of these beautifully intimate dancing souls that intertwine as much on ice as they do off- in a moment like this that beautiful connection of their souls supporting each other’s.

6. With whatever he says to her, it managed to compose her enough to stand back on two feet and respond ‘yes 😁’. Making their way out of the K&c I’m sure this continued- after hugging their support staff before heading backstage- hopefully back into each other’s arms ❤️‍🩹

(disclaimer that I’m not out here simping for or trying to defend a million dollar company, just a fan with frustrations)

the njpw/aew partnership has always felt incredibly unbalanced. FTR didn’t defend or talk about the IWGP tag belts and skipped out on WTL, Kenny (as much as I love the dude) has done 0 with the US belt, AEW did nothing to promote Willow being part of the Strong Tournament. Desperado set a match with Mox and that didn’t get mentioned. They didn’t even talk about Dominion until after it happened. New Japan social media and commentary make a big effort to keep continuity and talk about things going on in their partner promotions.

Even with Takeshita. DDT has tweeted about the heel turn, their wrestlers have mentioned it, I cannot remember the last time DDT was even mentioned on the show

I get that All Together Again and the Road Tour means 90% of their roster is booked up and it would be a struggle to appear live. But a build to a show doesn’t need to be done 2 weeks before. This is something we should have had going since tickets went on sale. Or at the very least, ask them to film backstage promos to send in, not just play the promotional videos and press conferences that New Japan did themselves.

Sorry, you sent this after I fell asleep, but I agree with everything you've said! Like, I'm not even trying to shit on AEW―it's just facts.

FTR and Kenny were the first people I thought of when Aussie Open had to relinquish the IWGP and Strong tag titles even though Mark would only be out 6 weeks. And Kevin Kelly explained at a later date that if the Dominion match hadn't been set they could have just kept the titles which, okay, fine. But that doesn't change that FTR and Kenny just sat/are just sitting on their respective titles. Also, I was Big Mad when Kenny defended the US title against Jeff Cobb on Dynamite and not a few weeks later at Capital Collision. Like, that's an NJPW belt, my guy. Kenny by God Omega coulda shoulda woulda brought soooooo many more eyes to Capital Collision/NJPW. (And I thought he would have known better, too? That was his home for years?)

But you hit the nail on the head—it's an unbalanced relationship and I frankly don't know what NJPW is getting out of it? Forbidden Door 2 is probably gonna be another routing of their talent like the first FD was.

And like you said, there's absolutely ways to work around people not being able to come to America in order to build a feud/to a PPV. But like I said to that anon, David Finlay been around and available. AEW had the time to meaningfully address the long, long history between him and BOTH Jay and Juice. Juice literally turned on Finlay to join Bullet Club and now Finlay is the leader and you're just gonna ignore that?! And Jay's been exiled from NJPW but he's still out here acting like he's in Bullet Club?! As if (in storyline) Finlay would just allow that happen?! PLEASE. Make it make sense.

Editing to add: there's still a chance to meaningfully introduce the White/Finlay feud AT Forbidden Door. As I said, Jay's been kayfabe exiled from NJPW (and working with NJPW talent, I believe?), so he really SHOULD NOT be anywhere near Toronto on June 25th if they're gonna uphold that. But he could show up because it's also an AEW event. And then Finlay could show up and be like, "Wtf do you think you're doing?" And boom, there you go. I HOPE that happens, genuinely. If not... I will fly to Florida just to smack Tony Khan.

ok so here’s my very lengthy “what aew might be doing with Danny Garcia” theory. Actually it’s multiple theories bc I’m confused as fuck at this point.

Let’s preface this by saying that dynamite and collision both tape on the same night in Buffalo next week, with the dynamite airing live and the collision not airing until Saturday and the rampage, which airs Friday, having already taped. Here’s what we know:

1. Will is already wrestling on dynamite in a tag with Swerve against Gates of Agony.

2. Danny was backstage watching Will’s match against Brian Cage (in which he had a tougher time than he expected)

3. Danny has “big plans for Buffalo”

4. Danny has been interconnected with Hechicero (who is also aligned with Cage of Agony) and who is now facing MJF on the PPV (who has also been watching Danny

5. Danny has said he’s coming for Will’s title

I think:

Theory 1: Danny is going to challenge Will on dynamite for the title. Will, despite already having a match, is going ro accept bc he doesn’t know how to say no. This is going to go one of two ways: he shockingly loses the title to Danny or he retains but its clear he’s barely got anything in the tank or maybe he gets “injured” and so he’s going into forbidden door already not 100%. If he actually loses the title then he’s going into FD totally unfocused and shaken.

Theory 2: Danny challenges him but its for collision and either way will is wrestling twice in one night but for viewers its supposed to be Saturday. If that happens I think Danny wins the belt and the point of it is will going in shaken and unfocused.

Theory 3: this is basically the theory of: Danny loses against Will and then like, gets himself into the mjf and hechicero match making it a 3way

Theory 4: It’s basically theory #1 if Danny loses the match because then I think it becomes DANNY wrestling twice in one night (except for viewers it’s supposed to be Saturday and Danny, after losing, is determined to still get a title shot so he enters the ladder match against click below for next weeks rampage spoiler

ELP! Who was on the rampage taping and I’m convinced is gonna either be IN the ladder match or at least be the person against whoever IS in it and so yeah if this Danny theory comes true then I think he faces ELP wins and hopefully wins the ladder match overall

2023 Recital Info

FD Dance – If you have not picked up your tshirt, please do so this week. **SHOW NOTES** All adult dancers should report backstage 3 dances before their performance and line up in the hallway at the stage door. In Studio Rehearsals – May 8-10 (May 11 - Studio Closed) You can find this schedule attached, on the board by the front door of studio or in your dancers band account. We will not be holding regularly scheduled classes during this week. To ensure that all of our dancers get a chance to practice one last time before the recital we have broken the week into shorter rehearsal blocks. Make sure your dancer is still dressed for dancing (no costume) and bring all of your shoes. BIG BOAR BBQ (Friday, May 12th 4-7pm) - A fundraiser for competition dance families.  Please reach out to a comp dancer to purchase your bbq ticket or stop by the studio office.

*Concessions will be available Friday and Saturday during rehearsal and recital. Rehearsal/Recital Procedures Location - La Crescent Fine Arts Center (LCHS) Opening Number - ALL Dancers should wear black leggings and opening number tshirt.  If your dancer has a quick change after opening number they can wear their costume under their leggings and tshirt. Flowers - Flowers will be for sale during each show.  A google form for pre-orders has been sent.  It is strongly encouraged that pre-orders are made to guarantee availability.  Friday, May 12 - Rehearsal (MANDATORY FOR ALL DANCERS)- This will be a closed rehearsal, no audience members. Rehearsal will start promptly at 4pm.  Due to the tight schedule, we will not be able to wait for any late dancers to arrive.  Every dancer will need to arrive 20mins before their stage time completely dressed and ready to perform.  Dancers should be in full hair/makeup/costume for rehearsal.  You will enter through the La Crescent Fine Arts door (up the big staircase) and report directly to the cafeteria.  We will have staff to help direct you. In the cafeteria you will have a short amount of time to finalize any finishing touches before your dancer takes the stage.  If your dancer does not need any assistance, we ask that you drop them off and pick them up after their rehearsal is finished.  If your dancer is in Tiny Tots, Twinkle Toes, Fancy Feet, Beg Jazz, Hippity Hoppers, Acro or Intro Lyrical they will need an adult with them at all times.  You will wait with them in the hallway before they enter backstage and then meet them at the stage exit to help them with any changes and repeat the lineup process for their next routine.  Once they have finished all their routines INCLUDING opening number you will be excused from rehearsal. Saturday, May 13 - Recital We will be hosting 3 shows, 10am, 12:30pm and 3pm.  Each show will be approximately 1.5hrs long.  This will give us time between shows to clean and have the audience exit before the new audience arrives.  Dancers and parents will be allowed into the building 30mins before their show begins.  If your dancer is in multiple shows you will be allowed to wait in the lobby/outside until the theatre doors open for the next show.  10am show - arrival 9:30am 12:30pm show - arrival 12pm 3pm show - arrival 2:30pm Once you arrive, one guardian will need to sign in your dancer with the backstage crew at the cafeteria door.  If your dancer needs to make any costume changes, please leave this info with the backstage crew at this time.  All costumes need to be laid out and organized for quick easy changes.  EVERYHING SHOULD BE LABELED!  I always recommend a laundry basket that is labeled with dancers name and order of dances so they are organized and nothing goes missing! After your dancer has been checked in you can return to the lobby/outside and wait for the theatre doors to open.  At the end of the show, the SAME guardian will need to report to the cafeteria to sign out their dancer with the backstage crew.  The same guardian will need to drop off and pick up their dancer. If you choose to bring extended family/friends, please meet with your dancer outside the theatre/building to congratulate on a job well done after the show.  We have a quick turn around time and need the space to prepare for the next show. Recital Tickets Tickets will NOT be sold at the door and must be purchased in advance.  $15 per ticket plus processing fee per ticket (similar to ticketmaster/eventbrite, etc).  Tickets will be sold online only.  Pre-sale begins two weeks before the recital and tickets open to the public one week before the recital.

📍Worlds 2017 Post FD

I don’t think I’ve ever seen this moment.. discussed, and as I was watching this comp to make another post recently I got stuck on this moment I’d seen several times, but it hit me in the feels more significantly this time round.

First let me set the scene (which you can go watch for yourselves on the full video here starts at 3:30:40).

Once the competition has finished, VM make their way from backstage under the stands to the k+c/ marshalling area for the medal ceremony. But before that they are to give an interview. A camera person has followed them out to this area and there are a few different people wanting their attention. First, someone from the US fed/team who shakes their hands (says congrats) then one of the competition officials asks them something, then the lady who congratulations them and tells them she will do their interview. They can’t go straight to the k+c yet however because the team who competed last (right after VM), HD are still there (and after a disappointing skate are still being consoled by their coaches). So VM patiently wait off to the side. Then it’s here when this gif starts.

TS only had Marie with them in the K+C, however both Marie and Patch watched their skate and knew they had won- despite not being the last team to skate, they had a large enough lead after the short to essentially render them unbeatable (even with his misstep). When they left the K+C after their skate, they unlikely watched the final team or knew the final result as it pertained to HD, so as they came out for their interview they were probably not fully aware of what was happening in the K+C- obviously they saw they were sad but maybe didn’t know their final placement. Both Patch (and that other coach I don’t like) were with HD in the K+C, so Patch comes from there over to VM.

Now, let’s not kid ourselves, we all would like to admit that there is nothing ‘wrong’ with two men embracing like this- and we’d be right- there absolutely is not. But inevitably just bc of.. society (more so social norms of the past- it’s hopefully changing now) this is not the most common thing to see, and therefore, at least for me and I would assume many others, illicits more of an emotional reaction just bc we don’t see it all the time. It shouldn’t be weird- it’s not weird, but it’s still not something you see everyday.

So with that out of the way… what a truly beautiful moment this is.

I’m not gonna go all on again about Scott and what he was dealing with personally that season (iykyk if not hmu and I’ll tell you/look at some previous posts), he’s said even by earlier 4CC that season he was emotionally wiped, so by now, with the relief of the season finally being done, they had won, there was no needing to hold it all together for the sake of competition anymore. You could tell in the K+C after their skate how drained he was, at least to me it seemed it wasn’t just exhausted from the skate or the misstep, it was a culmination of things.

We’ve looked at previous posts the wonderful way T took care of him in those moments in her own quiet way and just being herself- being there with him was everything he needed (being with her (holding her hand/looking in her eyes) was the only time he felt ok 🥺).

But of course they were not alone in this comeback- and they made sure everyone knew that. The support they had from their team was as important as the support they gave each other, and it’s interesting the different ways that support is displayed- the similar yet different ways between T&S and either of them with a coach.

As I said-in the k+c, he was so obviously drained of energy, emotion, I felt so bad for him but also so proud of him and them for achieving what they did that year, and bad that it wasn’t as excellent as they wanted that final skate to be. Here waiting off to the side, it may be the lighting on his face but he almost looks like he’s about to cry, just so depleted of energy. It may have been that he saw Patch walking over and that was the look of near tears.. The way P seemingly doesn’t even say ‘congrats’ to him/ them. Obviously all skaters/athletes in general have special relationships which their coaches so it’s not like this is whole exchange is unique, but just the way there is communication without words- same thing S has with T but in a different way that is unique to them. The way S almost falls into P, like he just needs someone to hold him up bc he’s so exhausted. P goes to him like ‘here, let me hold you’- that’s what S needed to ‘hear’ in that moment rather than ‘congrats’. Also to see two men embrace like that (& esp when you know the relationship in this case is very special). It’s not a hug of ‘congratulations’ because he doesn’t really need to congratulate them, they don’t need that from their coaches, or more they don’t need it verbalised in that way. They have a deeper connection with them and for P+S, P knows what S needs in that moment is to just be cared for as a human.

I’m so freakin attracted to S for this reason- that he’s so open with his emotions and accepting and giving of affection. Describing him/them often as ‘soft’ isn’t a joke- it’s what they are and it’s an umbrella term to describe their affection and sensitivity.

Then if all that wasn’t beautiful enough, the way T just gently steps back a little to give them space. She is not being excluded, P is of course going to hug her as well, she does not find this awkward. She knows S needs a hug from P and so she gives them that space. I’m really not explaining it very well but I know what it says when I watch it and I’m just hoping y’all reading are getting what I’m trying to put into words.

This all goes back to TS’s just unbelievable level of knowing of one another and now having coaches who they trust enough and want them to be on some sort of level of knowing with them. The way she can be part of that hug without being part of that hug. How they can support each other with out being the one hugged/doing the hugging. The way they are so gentle with their emotions towards each other and create a safe space for each other to feel what they need to feel.

@emthebanished Tuesday night backstage at The Hideout tuning up before the Corroded Coffin gig. Still working on developing the live shots (one of them I have now is my favorite so far, will post later) but I liked this one and didn’t want to wait to share it. Have some from the band’s practice this week too to develop but will get them posted later. I love doing shots of the master shredder. Eds makes it so easy and a lot of fun to do my work. 🖤🤘🏼

Ukrainian test skates

I saw some of the videos from the test skates and decided that I should make a separate post about it because Ivan Shmuratko and Andrei Kokura deserve all the love ;)

Ivan skates to Cinema Paradiso in the SP and then to Nuvole bianche by Einaudi in the free and he’s just so light on the ice and his skating is beautiful to watch. 

Andrei Kokura is a new discovery for me. He skates to Crack of Doom (SP) and Casanova (FP, recycled). He is so musical and expressive. The way he moves 😍 Technically, it wasn’t that great, e.g. his preparation for jumps is really long but the step and choreo sequences are on fire!

Then there’s a pair Sofia Holichenko/Artem Darenskyi. They teamed up last season, before that he skated with Sofia Nesterova (she retired). I quite liked their FP to Under the bridge. It made even choreographically more sense than the SP for me. 

They interrupted the program, though. At first it looked like they missed the entry into the death spiral and then waited to begin again after the spiral but as I saw also the ice dancers skipped parts of their programs it seemed more planned. Maybe it was too early for all of them to skate the whole program...

Now that I think about it, it makes total sense! All skaters skated their SP (RD) and FP (FD) on the same day with a two hour break! Ufff...

And now three ice dance teams.  Myroslava Tkachenko/Andriy Kapra Come get it bae / Sign of the times I saw them for the first time and to be honest don’t remember much about the programs. Apart from their commitment to the performance in the RD.

Maria Golubtsova/Kyryl Bieloborov My tunnels are long and dark these days / Impossible love, Lento This RD is more “elegant” than the majority I’ve seen where the skaters really go more in the hip hop and street dance direction, here they are wild but more festive :D I get it that ISU wants to popularize figure skating among young potential viewers, in Olympic season on top of that, so the judges might prefer the hip-hopy dances more but I liked this one more.  And I loved the FD! I love the slow dramatic. 

Aleksandra Nazarova/Maxim Nikitin - ? / Rivederti, Backstage romance I love them so much, so I’ll wait with any evaluation. They do their stuff, great lifts, sliding moves... but I’m not into the RD. Maybe it’s because generally, I don’t like blues or because I don’t know which song they skate to and am distracted by this... The FD looks like it will be more light-hearted but let’s wait and see.
