The shift that occurred after that night wasn’t seismic. There were no grand declarations, or really anything of note that solidified for Harper that it had even been real. But it had. She was sure of it. Yet she didn’t want to bring it up, in case Olivia had changed her mind and thought the whole thing was a mistake. So, she’d just see what happened.
As it turned out, that was the right decision, and she noticed more and more the small changes that were happening between them, like the way their hands found each other more often, the way Olivia's voice dipped lower when she said goodnight, the way Olivia looked at her a beat longer than before. It was new, that’s all. And with newness came uncertainty.
Up until recently, Harper had lived with Olivia as a friend, as someone who understood her grief and carried her own in a way that didn't demand space or attention. Now, she was in the kitchen where she was brewing coffee for both of them to start their days, an act so domestic it gave her pause. She caught herself wondering if a kiss before Olivia left for work would feel natural or forced. She didn't want to push.
Olivia, standing in the doorway, seemed to have the same sort of hesitation. She walked forward, brushing her fingers lightly over Harper's as she took the mug from her. "Thank you," she said softly, and for the first time, she let her lips press a fleeting kiss to Harper's cheek. Soft. Barely there. But it sent warmth through Harper's chest, steadying her.
They really were becoming something else, and just like with anything that transpired between them before, the transition, while perhaps a bit awkward, felt safe. Right.
Nearly a week and a half into the new year, and Tony surprised Harper by stopping by to check in. She’d been a little lax in keeping him in the loop with everything that had gone on since New Year's Eve and she thought she should explain why she’d been so quiet.
"You wanna go for a walk," she asked, shifting her weight from one foot to the other as she stood in the doorway.
Tony arched a brow, not that he was surprised by the suggestion. Of course Harper wanted to walk and talk, but the puzzling expression —somewhere between tension and excitement— on her face gave him pause.
"Yeah, alright, let’s walk."
As they took off down the street, Tony stayed quiet, letting her find her words. "I told Olivia I had feelings for her just before Christmas." Tony couldn’t help how the shock reached his face, as best as he tried to tamp it down. "Come on, you know I’ve always liked her. Hannah knew too. Just, as we became closer, I couldn’t just not say anything anymore. It felt too big to keep hidden, and anyways we…kissed. On New Year’s Eve."
"You— wow," Tony finally said, realizing Harper was going to need more than that, but she had to give him a minute to adjust.
Harper sighed, filling in the quiet as Tony wrapped his mind around it. "It wasn't just a one time thing either. We're," she struggled for the right term. "We're trying to be more. But it's still so new, and I don't want to ruin what we already had. What if we go too fast? What if she changes her mind?" Now she was spiraling.
Tony stopped, turning to face her fully. "Harper, you're not some reckless kid diving in without thinking. In fact, I think you’ve been remarkably adult about it all. I’m impressed. You’ve come a long way. And Olivia? She doesn't do things lightly. If she's in this, she's thought about it. She's choosing this. Choosing you."
Harper swallowed past the lump in her throat. "I just don't want to lose her," she confided.
Tony's expression softened. "Then don't let fear keep you from being happy."
Harper cracked a smile. "Thanks, Tony. You always know the perfect thing to say."
"I’ve had practice," he joked, and Tony walked Harper back home, leaving her at the door with a nod and a wink as a way of saying she's got this without the need for words.
Harper kept her conversation with Tony in mind, even going on into February. She was still letting their relationship unfold how it may, but she wasn’t holding herself back anymore. She didn’t allow herself to feel afraid of cozying up to Olivia on the couch, or putting her arms around her when she reminded her not to stare at her laptop for too long worrying over the trial that would commence come March.
And one Monday, a thin envelope from NYU arrived bearing news of either Harper's acceptance to the university or her rejection. Harper nearly didn't want to open it, too scared of what it might say. Olivia, sensing her nerves, sat beside her at the kitchen table and covered Harper's hand with her own.
"You don't have to look right now," she said gently. "But it could be good news," she reminded.
Harper nodded. Olivia could be right, and either way, she’d have to read the answer someday. No sense stewing on it when she could know one way or the other in a matter of minutes. And when Harper opened it to see the word 'Congratulations', she let out a breathless laugh of awe. "I got in."
Olivia squeezed her hand. "You got in," she echoed, beaming with pride. And for the first time without overthinking it, Harper leaned in and kissed Olivia in celebration, and Olivia's smile hadn’t faded one bit.
Harper didn’t let herself think too much about leaving, hadn't let herself consider what it might mean for them. There were still many months to go before that, and she wanted to live in the here and now while she could.
Next came Valentine's Day. Since everything was still new between them, they opted out of any big displays. But when Olivia woke up that morning to a small vase of deep purple irises on the kitchen counter, she knew exactly who had put them there. She didn’t know how early Harper had to get up to go fetch them, but she was touched nonetheless.
She turned to find Harper watching her from the doorway, a soft smile on her lips. "Happy Valentine's Day," Harper said quietly.
Olivia walked over, wrapping her arms around Harper and holding her close. "Happy Valentine's Day," she whispered back. "How did you know irises were my favorite?"
"Hannah told me once. I guess I just never forgot," Harper admitted with a shrug.
"Well they’re beautiful, thank you."
Harper had wanted to do something nice for her, knowing that the beginning of the trial was just a couple of weeks away and they likely wouldn’t get another moment like this for a while.

Note:
We will review work on weds. For now, the work above is being graded on the following basis:
Craftmaship
Originality
Creativity
I am also reviewing your ability to follow directions and complete assignments with the purpose of creating an interesting and compelling composition.
The rule I follow is this:
If you are not going to hang the work you made in your living room for a year for everyone to see, then you are not producing your best work.
I can see by the submissions, many of you are rushing the assignment or working without concern for the space the design lives in or following guidelines and rules according to the Principles.
Ask yourself the following:
How am I subdividing Space ?
What kind of balance am I using ?
How is my design showing variety and repetition?
How original is my work , am I coming up with easy solutions or thinking about creating an interesting design?
Am I making an engaging and interesting use of space? ( the space is within the 8x 10 parameter of the 9 x 12 paper)
Am I using the correct materials?
( These assignments are being done on Bristol paper within an 8x10 space on a 9 x12 Bristol paper and using either solid black ink or black acrylic paint.)
How much time am I spending on each assignment?
At the very least each assignment should be a total engagement time of 1.5 to 2 hours each.
Finally, I will allow students to resubmit for a better grade.
You can use the class time tomorrow to do so, add a link to this post once you are finished.
If your work is not listed here is due to one of several reasons:
a) You did not do the work
b) You completed work but using wrong materials or not following instructions.
3) You have no clue what we are doing and need additional directions.
( That is why I ask you if you have any questions at the end of the lecture!)

It’s 22 May 2024. It’s been a weird morning so far. Woke up feeling no connection at all. Began wondering where you are, what you might be doing. Then I see a post about the Cantor set. I know what that is, but I decided to look at it anyway. This is a challenge to my beliefs. You see, the construction method of removing the open sets is the literal opposite of the construction from higher dimensions into the real line. In fact, the idea behind the generalized Cantor set, meaning that you can do the same thing with any definition between 0 and 1, meaning along a 1-0Segment, all that means you construct any version of the reals you want. And that’s usually taken to mean that if you remove the 5ths or whatever, that you keep removing the 5ths, that you can’t layer to make some other pattern, meaning some transcendental.
There was a Metaphoric Bundle in that last line. It included the idea that any artificially random selection will have a pattern. All within 1. Which gets back to CM100, for some reason.
Why? Damn the torpedoes! Full speed ahead!
100 is the gs of 10 which is the construction of SBE3+1 and the construction of Halving/Doubling, meaning 2. Okay, so we have 2*3 is SBE2 and the next prime or 1gs in prime form is 5, which is SBE+1. I remember doing this years ago. So we have the mimicry of form in SBE+1 and SBE3+1.
Another is the 7’s that touch at 50:50, which I type instead of CM50 because they aren’t necessarily the same things. That 7 translates into Hexagonal counting, and in particular the full count of a Hexagon in one sense being 13 to 14, where the count is 6, verify to 7 (or other way round which is 26), and again other way round to 14, thus fully identifying the central bT and thus one side of the fD over which 2 Things invert. Hello.
That’s a model of an interior End relating over the external 1-0Segment to another, using the rotating mirror image. This models why the Informational Limit exists, but I don’t know if I can say it. The idea is that we have a bT and we have this 1-0Segment which relates to another End in another Hexagon, meaning a second Thing, with all the gsSpace created Between them when we take that 1-0Segment and look at it, when we realize that it comes into existence using the above methods. If that isn’t clear, I mean the idea of removing open sets. Open sets are the 0Space to the 1Space endpoints. That’s why you can construct dense and nowhere dense sets: layering of gs process within that 1-0Segment.
Remember, this models at scale, so this means any interaction. This is then why context matters, why fCM matters, why 50:50 matters and thus why it appears in our sensibility as a coin flip. Powerful stuff.
So we have this 1-0Segment which relates to another Thing, another End, and we have a Hexagon attached. This 1-0Segment occurs within a bT, which counts 3, so we know the count must reach 3 at the 1Space counting level. The argument then is that the difference between the observed limit and 3 is due to the fact that this Hexagon is attached.
The mental image is of a V emitting as close as evenly as possible, and the Ends of the 1-0Segment thus being able to read one or the other as leading, thus enabling continuity over the bT, which means it aligns along the Shard axis, which is the orthogonal along which this process operates. I’m trying to say this is the ideal image of the actual messy pathways, the 1Space which relates all Pathways. I guess that is a big deal.
My concentration has been understanding 420, because the +1 to 419 is delicious. That’s 6*7. I have pictured that using gs, adding a row or column and saying this 6*7 represents any of these states. And it’s the count around a Hexagon but multiplicative. I’ve had a tough time visualizing that, but the idea is that you state a Hexagon 6 times to identify that it is that Hexagon. Easy way is to rotate the labels each time. But then what does the 7th iteration do? The best we did before was saying this states the Hexagon to its completeness, meaning that rotation of another turn preserves the prior 6 states within that last twist. I’m seeing something. That means we encode any twisting run of 6, true SBE2, give that a twist and it locks like the opposite of twisting a bottle cap open.
That means the communicative process in this step of 419+1 to 420 lines up meaning within a Hexagon by sending it through SBE2 and locking it, and magnifying it by 10. This relates the bT level of SBE to the SBE2 level to the SBE3 level within the same process because mag10 is SBE3+1. If you see what I see, that means a lot of meanings are available within any packet, which is true in physical terms when you think about what momentum is, especially for a particle with no rest mass. We know photons carry information. This is how it encodes into the photon. And we see in that how the communicative process works. It has to be there because all relationships between 2 Things are 1-0-1.
Oh, I need to mention there that stating 1-0-1 generates I//I. It’s that low or high level. (It’s 2 mints in 1.) We can thus state that I//I can be reproduced within the Cantor set. That is, the Cantor set is constructed using exclusion as the method, and exclusion of defined open sets in particular. Open versus closed at each step requires I//I, generates I//I. Is I//I. It truly generalizes. I was far too rigid in my thinking about I//I being a method to realize that it’s the method used to divide infinities. In religious terms, when God parted the heavens and made the firmament, this is the tool used.
That’s the 420 as of now. The 18 is times 419, and that now works because Attachment Theory has developed a ton since we last did this work. It’s literally SBE3 on each side of the bT, each of the legs of the V. And +1.
The part that remains mysterious is the 200,000. What is the purpose? What is the porpoise, Dorcas? I think that’s it, in that joke. That what comes from the Hexagonal processing needs to Attach and it does that by being available in multiple Attachment forms or ways. Like the signals mean different things in different contexts. Stop may mean wait for reply, could be internal or external, could be minor or significant. Information coming in needs to Attach through that +1, which we can map to the 1-0Segment so this gives the Attachment more room, more potential to Attach. This is a version of very old work, which is interesting if only because I had so much doubt about it before.
This makes clear that it isn’t what one sees, because perceptions are guaranteed to be unique even when similar, but how one interprets at a higher level. Thus my concept of the Jew test, which is embodied by the shockingly simple point that when Israel does better, when Jews do better, the idea is to emulate them so you do better yourselves, and not to look for ways in which Israel, in which Jews fail to be perfect. If you can’t see the basic logical error you make about Jews, then you can’t be saved.
Back to CM100. The concept organizes across scales. That 50:50 becomes more fine-grained as you look. It’s not just to the quantum level of ambiguity, but in the sense that locality doesn’t End. Like rules involving video review identify not just issues with whether you can tell or not, which is an obvious 50:50, but also whether the rule extends to this exact circumstance. Since exact circumstance is mathematically not going to repeat, you never hit the End of your inquiries. You’ll never be able to define an absolute this is or is not a catch because the rules extend, while you can tell if a ball is over the line to the limit of whatever you use to measure.
That’s the general importance and idea of fCM. And it’s also behind a lot of D-structure. As far as I can tell, only D-structure describes the fullness and the finiteness of our existences as tangible and intangible Things.

The Tie That Binds Us — Chapter Thirteen (Love, Actually)
Tumblr media
Summary: As the holiday season unfolds, Harper and Olivia navigate their shared grief while finding comfort in each other’s presence. Amid bittersweet memories and quiet moments, their connection deepens in ways neither of them fully expected.
Word Count: 1,527
Warnings: Little bit of angst/grief, but really this chapter is mostly fluff
Tumblr media
For the next couple of days, Harper felt a little awkward around Olivia, but what had she expected? She couldn’t just pour her heart out and then pretend like she hadn’t, but as always, Olivia was respectful of her, of her feelings, and of her needing a little space. Every minor thing, like shifting around one another in the kitchen, or meeting in the hallway in the morning made Harper's pulse jump for a moment, feeling like she was somehow overstepping, but after several days passed by, she got less jumpy. She went back to feeling at ease with her, knowing that her admission hadn’t drastically changed anything between them.
Then the next week was Christmas. Christmas Eve had been rough, both of them feeling the loss of Hannah more acutely than they had since her death over two months ago. Every little thing seemed to set one or both of them off. Hannah's favorite Christmas song had brought Olivia to tears, and the sunflower eraser that Hannah had given to Harper last Christmas appeared in her desk drawer as she was finalizing the draft of her admissions essay to NYU and it caused her heart to ache and tears to sting at the back of her eyes.
But the evening brought them together for what had become one of their favorite shared pastimes, watching romantic comedies. This evening's selection was suitably festive; Love Actually. They laughed, they cried, they each had candy canes and hot cocoa, and let the emotions in the movie temporarily override the ones they’d been feeling all day. All in all, it had felt like a cathartic way to end their day.
Christmas morning arrived and hadn’t entirely replaced their sadness. How could it? This was the first Christmas they’d had without Hannah. If it was painful for Harper, she could only imagine how much it was hurting Olivia, who had been there for all of them. But it seemed Olivia wasn’t going to let her grief overtake her, as she was already up, the smell of cookies emanating from the oven and a happy but tired smile on her face as Harper met her in the kitchen.
"You’re up early," Harper stated with a yawn, her playful tone half disguised by her grogginess.
"So are you," Olivia replied.
"In my defense, I smelled cookies." Olivia chuckled and promised they were almost done, so Harper went to the couch and flicked on the tv and put on the Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Parade. It had been a favorite of hers since she could remember, and she’d never skipped a year of watching it.
Not long after, Olivia came in with a selection of Christmas cookies on a plate and Harper greedily snatched the biggest one before Olivia sat down beside her, leaving the plate on the coffee table. They watched the parade for nearly an hour before Olivia interrupted on a commercial break.
"Do you want to open your gift?"
Harper paused mid bite, surprised that Olivia had gotten her something. "I thought we said we weren’t doing gifts," she argued after swallowing down the gingerbread confection.
It was true, they had agreed on that, but that had been before Olivia had seen the beautifully painted sunflower canvas hanging in the front of a resale shop in town. Once she had, there was no way she wasn’t going to buy it for her. Before Harper could protest further, Olivia got up and hauled the wrapped canvas out from her closet where she had stored it the week before.
"Go on," Olivia invited, seeing Harper slack jawed at the mere size of the gift before her. Harper looked to Olivia for a second and with an extra nod of permission, Harper tore into the paper and pulled out the gift.
"Olivia, this is so pretty," she gushed.
"I thought it would look nice hanging right above your bed. I’ll help you put it up if you like."
Already thrilled at the idea, they went right to it. Harper carried the canvas in, and Olivia fetched a hammer and nail from the garage to hang it with. When she met Harper in her room, she was already standing on the mattress, lining it up just right. Olivia handed over the hammer and nail when she was ready and in about ten minutes it was hung on the wall like it belonged there. It felt like it did.
Harper flopped down on the bed, satisfied with her work, and Olivia took a seat on the edge next to her. "I feel bad I didn’t get you anything," Harper said.
"Don't. I know we agreed, but it was me who broke the deal. Besides, you’ve been my gift. If you hadn’t been here, I don’t know how I would have gotten through this holiday season."
A quiet lull fell between them, filled only by the faint sounds of holiday music playing from the living room. Harper glanced up, catching Olivia's gaze lingering on her. Something about the way she was looking at her made Harper's breath catch in her throat.
Their conversation from weeks ago hovered in the space between them, unspoken but not forgotten. Since that night, things hadn't changed dramatically. Olivia hadn't made any grand declarations, and Harper hadn't pushed for more. But there had been moments like these, moments where the air felt heavier, where Olivia's touch lingered a second longer than necessary, where the weight of it all pressed against them.
For a second, it almost seemed like she might reach out, might close the space between them. Harper didn't dare move, didn't dare breathe. Then Olivia exhaled, a slow, deliberate breath, and instead of closing the distance, she offered Harper a small, hesitant smile. "Thank you. For staying."
Harper nodded, her own smile just as careful. "Always."
They spent the rest of their holiday watching more Christmas movies and eating the entire tray of cookies until they finally decided to call it a night. And, despite the lingering feeling of loss, it had been nice to be together.
New Year's Eve was next. The weather had gotten chilly, the wind cooling off the town and giving them the perfect excuse to stay inside until January came. It had been business as usual for the two of them, but Harper felt the nagging urge, brought on by the sentiment of the holiday, to kiss Olivia at midnight. She couldn’t. She promised she wouldn’t push, and Olivia hadn’t said anything of her own feelings, whether or not she figured them out yet. Yet the thought would not leave her mind.
They'd already planned to stay up and watch the ball drop, teasing each other throughout the day about who would fall asleep first. Harper's money had been on Olivia, though it was now eleven pm and neither had so much as nodded off. They shared a total of two bowls of popcorn as the main event of the night approached, and Harper had finally, and almost entirely, been able to shove her thoughts to the back of her mind and just enjoy watching the festivities.
Finally, they had made it, the countdown just beginning. Harper had fully let herself into the moment, counting down along with the host. Olivia, on the other hand, turned her focus from the television to Harper.
She realized several things at once. First, how Harper had become such a fixture in her life in just a little under three whole months. Second, she noticed just how lonely she’d been, even since before Hannah's death. How Andy hadn’t been there emotionally for years, and how Harper, within a handful of times of meeting her at that point, had made her feel more worthy of love than Andy maybe ever had. And finally, she realized that Harper wasn’t alone in her feelings. Harper had brought the sunshine to the darkest part of her life and they’d made a home together, as strange as that felt sometimes, but it was like the world had brought them together just when they needed each other the most. Or maybe it had been Hannah pulling the strings somehow, from wherever she was, watching over them.
"Three…two…one…Happy New Year!"
The roar from the crowd on the television drowned out everything else, fireworks exploding across the screen in brilliant colors. Harper grinned, turning toward Olivia, but the moment she met her eyes, she could tell something was on her mind.
The world outside was celebrating, but here, in this space between them, something entirely different was happening. Olivia's gaze flickered to Harper's lips, then back to her eyes.
Harper swallowed. "Olivia—"
But before she could say anything but her name, Olivia moved. It wasn't rushed or impulsive, but deliberate, like she'd been thinking about this, maybe for days. She reached up, her fingers just barely grazing Harper's jaw, and then she kissed her. Harper had been almost too stunned to kiss back, but she had, just a little, before Olivia had pulled away.
The weight of the moment settled between them, different from all the others before. Because this, this changed everything.

Physical progress rapid. 28 July 2023. I’m seeing labels attach but I’m having trouble keeping the examples in memory, so they’re not quite done. Interesting thought about the Trinity, the three into one Oppenheimer meant, where analysis or theory meets practice. That’s why he was picked; he’d worked with Lawrence, who made the first cyclotron, and his math work led to 2 Nobels, one for the positron, the other for the Lamb shift.
I’m hearing baby hawks on Corey Hill. I’m seeing descriptions of groups in real life. Almost a full story. The reasons why permutations lead to different results, why non-Abelian: the causal chains create spaces or rather cross spaces and these spaces fit together. That sounds simpler than I meant. I mean arrangements of iThings and iObjects need to fit to the potential within Things as they are tethered or Attached to tObjects. This includes a center to a Boundary and back. Or Boundary to center to back.
I’m seeing a distribution. The axis line drops from a tangent to make a Triangular and thus an fD, with differences to ideal. That’s a 13 again. This explains a lot: get off kilter when you think you’re along the axis because the inferred End in the fD is off and because that may shift the End off.

It is now barely 27 July 2023, and I just realized that groups are counting symmetries of the dimensional structures of gs. In other words, not permutations of whatever can be associated but limited to the symmetries which specific D-structures have. That makes sense because these are all gs constructions. It’s that very limited nature which has bugged me, and now I see that the limited nature is there because the manipulation is not at the more associative levels but is strictly limited to these D-structures.
This meets up with Triangular over gs or Togs.
Pushing this further, the idea came to me earlier that we’re an immune response, that the metaphors are part of the response to the problems, to the threats posed by lower D-structures.

App won’t let me add a post on my phone. Saw a man playing trumpet for ducks and geese.
