𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐘: even though you and garroth go to the same college, the two of you are sometimes too busy to hang out or meet up. one thing that brings you two back together is your late-night procrastination dates in the college library.

𝐀/𝐍: garroth’s hottest era, i want to kiss him on the lips. also i definitely got sidetracked and wrote this instead of other fics in my queue but we’re gonna ignore that ok guys?

despite having different majors, you managed to catch a class this year with garroth. while high school friendships usually fade with time, you’re glad that yours and garroth’s didn’t. you two weren’t able to talk and hang out every day like when you were teenagers, but every week you both decided on a time and day in the library to study and work together. 

tonight was one of those nights, as the two of you sat across from each other in pleasant silence. it was one of the things you admired about garroth—his ability to be mature and quiet without feeling awkward, unlike other extroverts like him, was commendable.

you tapped on your phone screen, the glass cold from the lack of use over the past hour. your lock screen lights up to reveal the numbers 11:11, and you lean forward, turning it around to show garroth.

“make a wish.”

his lips curl up in amusement as a light huff of air leaves his nose. he leans back in his chair, raising his arms and lacing his hands together behind his head as his eyes close in thought. brown and blonde eyelashes flutter against his cheekbones as he seemingly puts serious consideration into his wish, before he nods and opens his eyes again.

“that seemed like an important wish.” your inquire, voice still hushed.

his eyes narrow as he leans towards you with his elbows on the table, and for a moment your attention is drawn to the small freckle that lies right on the lower lid of his right eye.

“maybe it was,” he whispers back, his voice a deep husk that would’ve physically rattled you had you been any closer. “but i can’t tell you, or it won’t come true.”

“i know that.” you roll your eyes, hoping your cheeks weren’t as red as they felt.

garroth lets out another amused huff of air, this time his lips widening to reveal the perfect set of teeth beneath them. his hands rose up for his chin to rest on, as he tilts his head at you. the dim library lights reflect against his pupils, casting a certain shine that almost made his expression seem softer than usual.

“did you make a wish?”

your eyes widen for a split moment when you realize you had been too busy staring at him to make a wish of your own. the empty twist and growl you feel in your stomach gives you a smooth recovery to your slip-up.

“yeah, i wished for a snack. i’m starving.”

“oh no,” he gasps in faux despair, “now you’ll starve for the rest of the night because you told me.”

“or i’m just too lazy to walk to the vending machine.”

“luckily you have me.” he chuckles. 

your eyebrows pinch together as he leans over, reaching in his bag to pull out a cutie orange.

“my saving grace.” you dramatically bow to him, clasping your hands like a devoted peasant to a generous king.

when you reach out to grab the fruit, however, he pulls it away and leans back in his chair. your lower lip juts out.

“what?”

“do your work,” he whispers, before turning his attention to removing the peel. “i’ll do it.”

you blink at him in confusion, before your eyes trail down to his hands. he ignores your dumbfoundedness, instead carefully beginning to dig his fingers into the peel, avoiding spraying any of the juice onto the table. his nails were short and well-manicured, and you couldn’t help but trail your eyes up to the veins and tendons pulling against his skin as he restrained from using his full strength. and as he begins meticulously removing the extra white strands from each slice he pauses, leaning his head down to catch your gaze.

“surely this isn’t more interesting than getting your work done?” cerulean twinkled against the lights as he gazed up at you through his lashes.

blood rose to your cheeks as your eyes dart back down to your textbook, biting on your lip as you twirl your pencil in your hand.

“i was just thinking,” you mumble.

a deep chuckle leaves garroth’s lips and his head dips into his hand, poorly hiding his amusement with your embarrassment.

“cute.”

his hand comes into your view, presenting the neatly peeled orange right below your nose. his hands practically engulfed yours in size as you scooped the snack from his hands, admiring the perfectly stripped slices.

“…thank you.”

“you’re very welcome.” he smiles, calmly watching as you pop an orange slice in your mouth with a satisfied hum.

“don’t you have a snack for yourself?”

his eyebrow raises. “no. i just gave you it.”

you stop mid-chew, staring at him with round eyes.

“i’m not hungry.” he cuts you off before you can protest, waving his hand before leaning back in his chair and lolling his head back, staring at the white ceiling above you.

only a brief moment passes before his attention lands on you again.

“what are you doing this weekend?” he bites on his lip.

you blink, caught off guard by his sudden question. “um, nothing.”

“wanna go do something?”

“hm? like, just us?”

he nods, a small smile appearing as he continues to worry his bottom lip between his teeth. “we haven’t actually hung out in a while. you, know, without school as an excuse.”

“…yeah, i guess we haven’t,” you trail off, distracted by the expectant glimmer in his eyes. “what do you want to do?”

he freezes, eyes drifting off to the right in thought.

“um… i haven’t thought about it,” he quietly giggles, the noise incredibly…cute considering who it was coming from. “but something fun. whatever you wanna do.”

“okay.”

“okay?”

“yeah, i have something to look forward to now.”

“yeah, ok cool,” he clears his throat, and for a moment you think you see his ears turn red. “are you done with your work for the night?”

you sigh, popping another orange slice in your mouth.

“yup. my brain is fried for the night.”

the two of you back up your things, slinging on your backpack and walking side by side back to the elevator in comfortable silence once again. the library is practically empty at this point, leaving only a few stragglers in the silent building.

“i’ll walk you back.” he says, as the elevator doors close.

“you don’t have to.”

“and yet i do every time.”

you sigh in response, having nothing to refute him with. he had insisted on walking you back anytime you were together and it got dark outside. one time there was a party that you two didn’t even technically go together to, and when you decided to leave early he went out of his way to leave with you to make sure you got home safely.

you’re deep in thought when you look down at your hands to realize you only had one slice left, and you hold it up to your taller blonde friend with an expectant face.

“want the last one?”

“always so sweet,” he tilts his head down at you, smiling warmly before purposefully brushing his shoulder into yours. “no thank you. it’s yours.”

you still insist, lifting the piece up higher to his face. “it’s a tribute as my thanks.”

"your thanks?"

he chuckles as you begin to impatiently wave the fruit near his lips, before leaning down with his torso and taking the slice with his teeth straight from your fingers. despite his previous refusal he still hums in delight as he munches on the citrusy treat. one of his fingers raises to your chin and lightly nudges your head up, thumb brushing your jawline in a fond act of affection.

“thank you, silly girl.”

Spoilers for all of Mystreet and a small bit of Mcd

So ur telling me. That in ms and pdh. In six seasons and like three prequel seasons. Vylad Ro’Meave. Gets 10 episodes that he appears in. TEN. Over 314 fifteen to thirty minutes episodes (including the side series, pdh and fcu, the spin offs, and the mini series, not including the mini games), Vylad get approximately 85 minutes of screentime in total, with around 40 of those minutes being in pdh, and 45 in Mystreet.

My poor guy got the Laurance treatment, with both of them being very important characters in Diaries, but being pretty much tossed to the side in Mystreet. At least Laurance shows up in more than one season of the main series, because Vylad only gets four episodes in Mystreet, (with three of them being solely Ro’meave centered episodes that he takes a smaller role in) and in those four Big Vylad Return Episodes, he doesn’t show up much without his brothers and ends up taking the back seat again as the main plot is taken up by Aphmau and Zane fake dating to please Zianna.

You’ll never guess what he does in Pheonix Drop High. He gets introduced to us, befriends Travis and Aphmau, and is then never seen without one of his brothers again until Mystreet, in which he gets like, 8 minutes of screen time away from them over the course of two episodes until the main arc plot.

Yes, I did infact watch all of the episodes Vylad is in and roughly calculated the amount of time that he was in each episode, even if he wasn’t talking. I would move mountains for this man.

When I watched Mcd for the first time, I had high hopes for him (and by that extension, poor Laurance) in Mystreet during my rewatch, because I hadn’t watched it in years, unless you count dubbing over s4 with my friends. Yay! Vylad finally shows up! Aaand now he’s gone. With no mention of where he went. And we are left to assume he’s traveling the world again. The next time he is ever mentioned is s4, by Garroth, once. And then radio static once more. I’m pretty sure at some point in s5 Zianna brings him up while talking to Zane but I can’t remember.

Vylad had so much goddamn potential in Mystreet. Affair baby? Canonically Pansexual? Tense relationship with his family? Usually keeps off the radar? Acts completely different from his Mcd counterpart? “Child Prodigy”?

They could have done so much more with him and it makes me so sad that he’s basically just a cameo character to please old Mcd fans and make them say “oh my god! Vylad! From Mcd!”. Yes, it did infact please me, but we get so little of him until he’s gone.

They could have removed him from the plot of Mystreet entirely and it wouldn’t change much. The whole Zanemau fake dating story never really goes anywhere, and thats all we see of him other than Pdh, where he is also neglected as a character, though not as much.

It’s not even the fact that they brought him back from Pdh and then did nothing with him. Thats what they did with Ein, and it worked flawlessly. Its the fact that they brought him back just to show us that “hey guys look it’s Vylad that guy from Mcd and like 5 episodes of Pdh!!”

You know what they could have done instead. Removed Kim from the plot and inserted Vylad instead. She showed up just as a plot point to get possessed. It also would have made Emmalyn a bit less weird in her re-introduction, because if Vylad was obsessing over Zane it would have been weird as hell and they wouldn’t have written that.

I would have watched tf out of an Emerald Secret where Vylad was in town visiting his parents and gets dragged by Garroth to help renovate a new property his parents bought, only for him to

A) get possessed and start acting strange, probably suspiciously glaring at Zane and Aphmau,

B) watch as Zane also starts acting weird, and doesn’t remember himself OR Garroth,

C) Witness as everything goes downhill, probably getting locked in the other jail cell with Garroth (LIKE IN THE BLOOPER REEL) and fleeing back to the cabin to try and get help from literally anyone while Garroth tries to save Aaron and the others, and

D) getting invited to Starlight by the Lycans, where we learn more and more about both Vylad AND Emmalyn, as she starts to recover her memories and tells Vylad about a man quite like him in looks from the past.

We could have gotten more of his relationships with the other characters, like him and Lucinda both gladly breaking into the place where Travis is staying, Not Alone Buddies interactions, his interactions with his brothers now that they’ve all been through A Lot, reacting to Aphmau’s engagement, him watching the other guys as they all fail to pull in amusement, commenting on just how much Travis has changed since high school, his reaction to Garroth getting zapped into a werewolf, an awkward interaction with Garte, the GF invasion, getting used to passing out all the time, missing his old travels and regretting ever going to the lodge, Garroth getting mind controlled, Aphmau’s sudden death, and the burden of both contributing to the possession of Travis, and the responsibility of helping to kill his father.

DO YOU KNOW HOW HAPPY THAT WOULD HAVE MADE ME 😭

Hello friends! welcome to the prologue of my Garroth x Reader series. This is my first fic, and I haven't actually written anything in years so please bear with me. I have a vague plan for how I'd like this series to go and if that works out, it will be followed up with PDH, FCU, and Mystreet sequels, just like the actual series (though probably not written in that order cause my attention span would kill me)

An MCD Garroth x Reader series

"Legendary" prologue

"You have got to be joking..." The heart wrenching emptiness of the snack bag in your hands was more annoying than problematic, seeing as you were only about twenty minutes from town. The all too familiar urge to reach into the supplies you'd gathered over your journey crept in, but as always, the thought of seeing Garroth's face light up when you brought back the various supplies you found on your journeys was enough to keep your hands on Delphi's reins instead searching through the wagon she was pulling.

Oh, how you missed seeing that dorky helmet and hearing his unsure attempts at cracking jokes everyday... how you missed him, your best friend who always greeted you with a smile you didn't need to see to know was there, who lets you travel around to "help the village with supplies" when you both know that the only useful things you really bring back are food and new contacts (after all who doesn't need a good "I know a guy" friend) but the villagers loved getting to purchase fun new trinkets every time you came back and Garroth knew it kept you from getting too restless, so he gave you his blessing to essentially become the town wander, but you preferred the term "casual diplomatic relations coordinator/goodies gatherer"

Seeing Zenix again was also near and dear to your heart. He could be a major prick, but he was your brother after all...in heart anyway, which was enough for the two of you. You fought more often than not but you both had a soft spot for each other and were the closest thing to family that you both had.

Of course, your friendships with the other villagers were deeply cherished but it was hard to not have a special bond with the two of them. Garroth has a knack for finding people stranded in the woods, he brought you back to town only a week before finding Zenix who was only a kid at the time, and without any memories of your life before he found you wandering alone, it was easy to grow attached to the first two people who really made a difference in your life.

"Garroth! She's back!!" You perked up and slid off Delphi's back as you saw Zenix approaching

You threw your arms around him and laughed at the embrace that finally meant you were back home. "Brother, I missed you! Are you well? How is everyone?"

Zenix was interrupted by the all too familiar voice of your dearest friend who was always more relived by your safe return every time. "You're safe, welcome back" He took Delphi's reins from your hands and began to lead the small group back to town as you clamored on about your journey and why it took so much longer this time, how many people you met, how much you missed home, on and on and on.

Rolling his eyes was Zenix's only facial expression but his inability to stop asking questions was enough to keep you rattling on until all the villagers came and went with their fair share of useless trinkets and food for the week. When they were all done and gone Zenix left with the last two bags of supplies to take back for the guards. Garroth who had been silent the entire time, took hold of the empty cart and followed you back to the stable by your house with Delphi.

"I'm glad you're back, I almost sent raven out to look for you" you chuckle lightly at his concern and pray the torches aren't bright enough to show the blush that creeps onto your face.

"It was only a day long delay, Garroth" he sets down the wagon and turns away a bit, but his face remains pointed towards you as you tilt your head looking for a response.

Fully turning back to you he begins to inspect the details on his gloves, a painfully obvious que that he's flustered himself again. "I'm aware, it's just...it's dangerous out there, and you know we're vulnerable right now without a lord. I just don't want to see you get hurt."

Garroth is a caring person, you know this firsthand, but even still his heart and kindness manage to melt you every single time you speak to him. It's like he was born to be a beacon of hope, and his protectiveness is bound so deeply in his nature you can't help but want to protect him for a change. You don't know every detail of his past, but given yours is not available to you, it's a privilege he was willing to share with you all he did.

You didn't realize you were placing your hand on his arm until his head snapped up to meet your gaze, the slight glimpse of blue through his helm was enough to make you lose your train of thought for a moment. Though he didn't pull away, the feeling of his muscles tensing in your hold was enough for you to bring your hand back to you. "Thank you, Garroth. For always caring so much...for everyone."

A slight chuckle echoed from his mouth; you almost missed it. "You do not need to thank me for doing my job"

The grin that crept onto your face was almost involuntary, but moments like this were important to you. Making sure people knew the difference they could make, the good they would do was important to you, even though you knew Garroth would never fully believe you.

"It's not just your job Garroth, it's you. We both know that. You've changed so many lives and you keep so many people safe, it may not always work out but that's not nothing. Don't ever forget that, please"

Your heart fluttered at the all too familiar smile you heard in his thanks, how he's managed to keep the sight of it hidden all these years was a mystery to you, but it was none of your business, you only hoped silently that one day he'd trust you enough-

His hand began to flex towards yours and your heart skipped in your chest...before he brought it up to scratch his neck instead. Clearing your throat, you began to turn away from him. "I should really get to bed. Rest up from the long journey"

Garroth nodded. "Of course, I should be going. Long day tomorrow." You took a few steps back and he began to head back down the road before turning for a moment more "It's good to have you back. Goodnight" You smiled back, a little to dazed to truly recall your reply.

Your loving bed was unfortunately not enough to keep your thoughts from drifting back to the man who always seemed to keep them occupied. Looks like you won't not be getting much sleep tonight...

And I love the idea of a camp Councillor AU with them as rivals that kiss each other sometimes.

Like they literally have camp lore that if your put into their groups get ready for a summer of hurt because they are so competitive with each other that it ends up reflecting on their camp kids.

Some of the other characters would be their fellow camp councillors such as Garroth, Teony, Sasha, Blaze, and Katelyn, maybe a few more.

At night they'd sneak off together to make out, they'd probably get caught a bunch by the others, mostly Teony.

I'd say this would be in-between PDH and FCU.

the worst thing i ever heard while watching some old livestreams is jess apparently went through the pdh s2 finale irl in high school where 'she went through a ton of drama and just cut everybody off' and now i have like a sour taste on pdh2 forever because that whole "what do u like about me" arc was NASTTYYY TOXICCCC

Guys I am such a pdh + fcu hater. It genuinely fills me with rage like. As a concept. Particularly pdh, fcu would have been fine without pdh. I do not like high school aus and I additionally hate no one making any goddamn friends after high school.

Aphtober 2024 Day 8: Colour

Technically I started this WIP in June...

Anyway little Pride fic set during Garroth, Laurance, Katelyn and Luka's first year at FCU

I have MANY FEELINGS about how characters translated from MCD to MyStreet and WHY they got translated into what they do, and it’s honestly a really simple answer

MyStreet was never supposed to be what it was. It was never supposed to be something with a legitimate plot or to be taken seriously. It was supposed to just be Modern AU Crackfic, which is why there’s characters that are just. Fucking Ruined like Dante and Garroth. It’s probably why you also feel like KC still works and was translated properly, because she’s honestly one of the most crack like characters from MCD

So when making MCD Modern AU Crack, no one was thinking “How do we translate these traits and backstories over to a modern setting?” Which could lead to things like idk Garroth dropping out of business school and basically avoiding his whole family because of the shame of not being who they want, or Dante having to be adopted by his aunt and uncle afger his parents started neglecting him afger Gene did some shit and went to prison or smth

But instead they where thinking “What traits can we exaggerate to be funniest?” Whcih is how we got bullshit like Himbo Garroth and Cheater Dante

But well, then MyStreet was the popular one. And all of these characters which were just funny exaggerations and contradictions now had to be the True Version of these characters.

Exactly. It started off with JUST MyStreet, not PDH, not FCU, not LLP, none of it had a plot, it just was. It started off as comedic and then spiraled into plot and sadly made some decent characters into not themselves.

And you're right about the KC part! She was def one of the most out of the blue characters in MCD, she kinda works but it's only because of how other characters treat her later one. When she's first introduced, it's a maid café in this wild location that a café should NOT be. I could dissect the rest of the things you've mentioned but you're right on all fronts. They exaggerated traits that would seem funny but were untrue to the original characters, and since MyStreet got more attention, it got a plot and the characters in that spinoff become the "true selves."

I was into MyStreet when it was still basically plotless, and then years later seeing out of context clips of MyStreet later seasons gave me whiplash, to say the least.

I am an avid hater of PDH and FCU. It's not personal, I just hate high school aus. None of these will ever be canon to me

I dislike the decision to turn Mystreet into a serious lore-heavy series (and I really think Jesson shot themselves in the foot with this choice)

Mystreet season 1 had the best characterizations of Aaron and Aphmau. This is the only time Aarmau is good

I am a werewolf Garroth defender (an anon in queue has the best take abt this)

Side stories Garroth >>> Mystreet Garroth

Cadenza and Nicole deserved better (they are done dirtier than Laurance and Dante sore-y)

I don't like Levin's reaction to seeing Aphmau again (I think he should have some more complicated emotions)

Malachi and his castle should have been explored more. There is so much story in this boy. He's like the same age as Irene (iirc)

while people dislike jason due to most things surrounding aaron especially mys aaron. people also dislike or hate him due to his more unsavory things he said in the past like claiming that shipping aphmau with other guy characters is "whoring her out". people also dislike or hate jason because when he was 18-19 he began dating jess who was 14-15 at the time. which leads people to believe that jason groomed jess.

A few words.

• I totally understand the frustration around Aaron's writing. In fact, I think that the only Aaron rival who was handled decently and not humiliated/demonized/retconned for the sake of having Aaron as Aphmau's sole boyfriend, is Kai, and maybe FCU Garroth (I'm not done rewatching FCU yet, so far his crush is reasonable and quite adorable, lol).

• That sounds like immature jealousy, also the reason why Aaron is handled so poorly in terms of pairing him up with Aphmau. It might sometimes feel forced because the writers feel obligated to have them as a couple their whole lives. This is also understandable, though Jason is wrong for saying such things for sure. Frankly, I would be mad too if someone drew my S/O in situations I would be uncomfortable with, and we can tell Jason is (or was, let's not forget people change and grow) a very jealous person. I'm not defending that.

• I can't say anything about the age gap other that I know it's illegal in their country. We don't know what Jason's intentions were, how mature they were back then, if they knew each other's ages when they were playing the game and fell in love... I'm not saying that it's okay. I'm just saying that we are not the judges of what they've done when they were young and immature. I know what it feels to suddenly turn 18 and be expected to be a fully mature responsible part of society in one day. And I also know that there's a possibility that Jason liked Jess because they talked a lot under different identities and she sounded as mature as him. But I'm not too sure of that. And you're not either. I don't think it's the right thing to do to say many bad things online about someone because you BELIEVE it happened the way you think. Jess and Jason are not teenagers anymore and they should be able to handle their relationship themselves. I understand the worry though. Just please be respectful.
