Past:

The ultimate home-grown boy next door, Matt Donovan was born the classic American dream when you saw him at school. Popular, with the right girl for as long as he can remember and Quarterback of the Football team. At home however it’s different. Before he was even born Matt’s Dad abandoned his family, choosing to get out of town rather than keep living his life as a toilet scrubber. As he grew up however his Mom might have just left as well. It seemed that way at least, always out to a party never paying the bills on time. Matt simply grew up too fast too soon, a smart kid paying mind to all of the mistakes everyone else was making, determined to be better. He wouldn’t be a liar, a cheat, a thief or the guy to abandon people. So he figured out how to pay the bills and hid just enough of the household funds away when needed to make sure they made payments. He bought groceries and took care of the place. When Vicki his older sister screwed up he covered for her and when his Mom would finally come around again to play house he’d feel relieved. Because for one week things would seem almost like what he knew everyone else’s lives were like.

Matt worked past it, he lived with the ups and downs, he didn’t let being poorer than his friends or having a harder home life define him. He just worked harder and he was proud of it. It also helped that not did he have great friends but he also had the girl of his dreams. Before she became a disaster his Mom was best friends with Elena, the frequently sharing a crib. Matt isn’t really sure what a life without Elena Gilbert would have looked like. So as the perfect All American Guy and her the perfect Girl Next Door, they fell in love. They dated and he could see the future clearly, a nice house in Mystic Falls, maybe joining the council together like her parents, doing whatever it was they wanted they grew up and some kids. It just made sense to him and he was happy with it. He thought she wanted the same thing, until suddenly one day she didn’t. Then next thing he knew everything had changed. Her parents died, he was dumped and unable to comfort her, then the new guy came along.

Vicki was his older sister, a little like his Mom at times but at the end of the day always there to ruffle his hair while he bemoaned her. Then one day she didn’t, and he hoped beyond belief that she was finally taking after their Mom, now abandoned. Until Then Matt soon ended up bonding with Caroline and even though he wasn’t that into her he gave her a shot. She understood feeling alone in the world, then slowly it became something he wanted as well. He was happy again and he had someone who saw the same future he did. Then his girlfriend ended up in the Hospital and suddenly came out different. Came out a vampire as he would soon learn, just as Vicki’s body would resurface made into a vampire and killed. It slowly took him time to accept his friends once more but eventually he decided that he may only be a human but he’d do everything he could do to help them. This fight as every supernatural thing hit, was his fight too.

Present:

New Orleans is a whole new experience for Matt and for the first time he’s meeting other humans as ingrained in the supernatural world as he is. Not just the council who would ‘deal’ with things, real people getting things done and having respect given to them. Matt wonders if his interest in this Human Faction will make him come across as a traitor to his friends. He loves them and he’s on their side no matter what but that doesn’t change the fact that a lot of the times its the humans that need protection from them.

Connections:

Tyler Lockwood: Tyler is Matt’s best friend and brother for all he’s concerned. They have each other’s back. Sure he was kind of an asshole for a while but Matt knew how his Dad was treating him and that at the end of the day even asshole’s needed a friend. So he stuck by him and with time and his change Tyler became the person he knew he could be again.

Father Kieran O’Connell: Matt admires Father Kieran as the leader of the Human Faction. He’s everything the council in Mystic Falls tried so hard to be and he’s everything Matt wants to be. Not some random hunter but a protector of his people, the wall between them and the supernatural world that he’s been dragged into.

Rebekah Mikaelson: The two spent a great summer all over the world together, it was memorable and something he’d always be grateful for but, it had an end date. Rebekah was leaving and that would be that. Now however he’s in New Orleans and seeing a whole new side to her. Not the wants to be human and go to high school side, but the millennia old one, the true Mikaelson one.

Set shortly after a war between our super humans called Conduits, and Humans, the city of Chicago is our setting. In a world with advanced technologies, super humans, tensions are still very high between the two species. PRIME, a UN backed organization has been created to police the Conduits. With many branches throughout the world, Chicago is PRIME’s United States branch’s headquarters. Although they have restored order to the city, their methods have given rise to the Mavericks, a faction rebelling against PRIME’s control over much of the city. However, they are not the only groups involved in Chicago and the growing unrest is anything but simple.

WANTED DETAILS: Cage would have been with this woman from 2014 through 2017; in that time, they had a quick, very romantic courtship and got married. However, when the talks got serious about starting a family (or expanding, in his case), Cage balked, and realized that he hadn't made the right decision. They decided to divorce in the spring of 2017. The basic reason for the breakdown of the marriage would have been Cage not wanting more children, but I'm more than willing to explore other issues within the relationship! This character would have lots of connections within the Newman family, and could be local, or could be someone who moved to town at some point, but the relationship would have taken place in Merrock.
