BIOGRAPHY

Sam was born the middle sister to a poor but very loving family in the lower district. Growing up, she witnessed first hand the impact that the Big Three and their shady practices had on the lives of the people around her, especially since the neighbourhood that they lived in was a very tight-knit community.

Both of her siblings were prescribed faulty medication manufactured by Epsilon Labs. As a result, they both suffered a slew of medical problems that have persisted into adulthood; although when all was said and done, they were told that they were lucky to still be alive.

Her family joined a class action lawsuit against Epsilon, but the payout amounted to very little after the lawyers took their cut, and it was definitely not enough to cover her brother's medical expenses. When she was in high school, she offered to drop out or at least take a part-time job to help pay the bills. Her parents refused and insisted that she focus on her education.

She was awarded a scholarship to the University of the Metroplex where she studied sociology. When she was a student, she joined Citizen Uprising with a group of friends from her neighbourhood, including her long-term boyfriend.

After graduating, she took a job as the receptionist and office manager at Jones and Jones Investigations, which at the time was Citizen Uprising's headquarters. It was a convenient position for her, since it allowed her to organise various CU activities and coordinate their volunteers while also doing her day job.

It was at Jones and Jones that she met an orphaned synth girl, Virginia, whom she ended up adopting when she was 26 years old. Ginny was 10 years old at the time. Sam's boyfriend bonded with her, and was partially helping to raise her, but he wasn't a formal part of the adoption. This becomes important later.

While Sam remained committed to non-violent activism, her boyfriend became increasingly radical in his beliefs and ended up forming his own faction in the group, promoting more violent forms of protest. It was when he brought explosive materials into their shared home that Sam packed up her bags and left him, not wanting to expose her daughter, now 15 years old, to his extremism.

Her ex, now going by the moniker Taurus, did not take the break-up well and tried numerous times to guilt her into staying; including threatening to take her to court for taking his daughter from him. Which she wasn't doing, because as mentioned, he wasn't a formal part of the adoption.

She ended up quitting her job at Jones and Jones Investigations and leaving Citizen Uprising as a whole because of what happened. She still supports them, and still believes in their cause, but for her own sanity and for the safety of her family, she had to make the decision to not be directly involved.

Instead, she got a job at the Daily Independent through her childhood friend Fox. It has now been 5 years since then, and she has come to love her job as an investigative journalist, seeing it as her way of making a difference.

Her and Fox have been dating officially for the past year. It was prompted by Ginny, noticing how much time they were spending together and how often he was at their place, asking her mom what Fox actually was to her.
