We hope everyone has had a good start to the year! A huge shout-out to everyone who participated last term and made it such a huge success! We look forward to all of the amazing new fanfiction and fanart to be shared with this beautiful community! At the end of last term, the voting form also included the possibilities of the Roulette Categories for this term, and we have taken the top choices for both Fanart and Fanfiction:

The Fanfiction Roulette Category for this term will be Best Friendship Portrayal. This is defined as: A story that has a primary relationship between two characters that have qualities of trust and intimacy. Revolves around a strong bond and mutual affection.

The Fanart Roulette Category for this term will be Best Improved Artist. This is defined as: Two illustrations of the same artwork that showcase the improvement an artist has made. The most recent image of the set should be posted within the last three years, and it must be a redraw of one of the artist's older works.

In addition, we added a Roulette Romance category for both Fanfiction and Fanart. This term the pairing chosen will be Best MirSan Romance (Miroku x Sango). This will be a category for both Fanart and Fanfiction.

The faster you accept that comic book Charles Xavier is a creepy, manipulative, abuser - the easier life will be. Take it from someone who has been on that particular journey about six years ago.

You are a Dick fan, he had sex with newly disabled Barbara right before his wedding without disclosing this to her. Accepting / overlooking canon events is part of Fandom experience.

And if it involves an almost God level telepath who groomed five teenagers into soldiers, you will be doing a lot of excusing and hand waving. This is not a "Robins would have done it anyway" situation either. It was straight up grooming child soldiers and picking the autistic one to make the easily controlled and manipulated puppet-leader to live through because Xavier was stuck in a wheelchair.

People who tell you that Xavier isn't as bad as you think are just lying. He is worse.

I fear I have gone in WAY over my head with this ‘Charles is evil in the comics’ curiosity. Like oh my god.

Having literally no context for most of what everyone has been discussing and purely going on Vibes hasn’t been the most effective way to actually understand the morality of Charles lmfao. (I literally confuse Jean and Rouge all the time and thought they were the same person for literal years. I’ve only seen FC and DoFP in the past 7ish years).

From what you say, comic Charles sounds fucking awful!! I kind of got that vibe with the child soldier army thing, nevermind the Holocaust Beam clip I saw that started this whole thing. But I was/am clueless to the extent of it. The Robin comparison is super helpful!

For my purposes of being a DC fan and a born again X-men Movie Fan, im happy to let the two versions remain separate to me (for my peace of mind and enjoyment of the version of the character and arcs I prefer).

This is a psa that if I ever mention loving Charles im only referring to his movie version!

1. The Basics:

The Muggle World:

World War I (28 July 1914 – 11 November 1918), often abbreviated as WWI, was one of the deadliest global conflicts in history. It was fought between two coalitions, the Allies and the Central Powers. Fighting took place throughout Europe, the Middle East, Africa, the Pacific, and parts of Asia.

The Allies, or the Entente Powers, were an international military coalition of countries led by France, the United Kingdom, Russia, the United States, Italy, and Japan against the Central Powers or Central Empires of Germany, Austria-Hungary, the Ottoman Empire, and Bulgaria. [X]

The Wizarding World:

During the war, British Minister for Magic Archer Evermonde was responsible for passing emergency legislation forbidding wizards and witches from getting involved, in an attempt to prevent mass breaches of the International Statue of Secrecy. This did not prevent thousands of wizards from discreetly aiding Muggles wherever they could. Minister Evermonde's position drew the public condemnation of Wizengamot member Henry Potter, which caused a minor stir at the time. Henry's outspoken pro-Muggle views were one of the chief reasons for the Potter family's exclusion from the Sacred Twenty-Eight. [X]

2. The Wizarding War Effort:

Most witches and wizards were not directly involved with the war, though their lives were certainly affected by it to varying degrees. While the Ministry passed legislation to forbid wizards from participating in the war, it did not neglect it completely. In addition to the witches and wizards who aided muggles illegally, there were several different programs started by the ministry, such as the Owl Air Force*, Intelligence operations by the Auror Department, and Magizoologist operations (Like Newt Scamander and the Ukrainian Iron Bellies at the Eastern Front).

(*The Owl Air Force might have been an illegal operation but we've chosen to make it part of the Ministry. Canon isn't clear on which it was.)

The Auror Department:

This is part of WW1 verse, and not mentioned in canon.

Volunteer aurors were trained to join muggle armies to make sure there was no illegal usage of magic among the ranks. They were also tasked with gathering intelligence, tracking down dark wizards (and other dissenters), and even infiltrating and spying on the Central Powers.

3. Wizarding Politics in the 1910s

People of Note:

British Minister for Magic: Archer Evermonde, in office 1912-1923

Evermonde took office in 1912, after the mysterious passing of his predecessor Venusia Crickerly. Some certainly suspected foul play, but nevertheless Evermonde enjoyed the trust of the population enough that he managed to push through several legislations, including the ban of wizarding involvement in the First World War.

Head of The British Auror Department: Willard Hartford (WW1 verse canon)

The Hartofrd family had established itself as a family of aurors a couple of generations ago, so it was only natural for Willard to pursue the career. He became Head Auror in 1911. He is the boss of Ares Gaunt and Lunas Avery, among others.

The Supreme Mugwump: Gala De Lange (WW1 verse canon)

Gala served as the Dutch Minister for Magic before becoming the Supreme Mugwump. She is known for her neutrality and insistence upon the non-involvement of wizards in the muggle conlifct.

Head of The German Auror Department: Anton Vogel (WW1 verse canon)

During the war Vogel served as the head of the German auror department. He later became the German Minister for Magic and the Supreme Mugwump. He is the father of Alexej Kavinsky. Vogel's motivations are shrouded in mystery and eventually he becomes involved in the plans of the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald.

The General Political Climate: (WW1 verse canon)

Across Europe, many witches and wizards were not happy with the war and saw that it was the muggles who were to blame for such chaos and violence. There was a rise in blood-purist ideology, as well as isolationism and anti-muggle sentiment.

Minister Evermonde wanted to keep out of the war as much as possible, and this, if anything, was a reflection of many of his other policies too. He did not wish to effect change, instead he was a traditionalist who was comfortable keeping up the status quo. While he was not overtly blood-purist, he did not do anything to speak for muggleborns, squibs, or any of the groups classified as "creatures".

Mistreatment of minorities & Blood-purism:

As we see the Ministry still being a cesspool of bigotry and corruption in Harry's time in the 1990s, it can be safely assumed that things were not better during the beginning of the century. The radical organization TOWER fuelled the vitriol towards muggles and muggleborns, creating a scapegoat for all the frustration and anger.

The Transnational Order of Wizards' Exposure Right is an anti-muggle organization dedicated to toppling the British Ministry of Magic but it operates across all of Europe. They use any means necessary to advance their goals and their existance is known only to few. Their power lies within their secrecy.

Location

Panaema is a (boarding) school for the children and descendants of the divine, hidden beyond a veil of mist, of magic. Named so because the school was built upon a blood soaked field. To get there, one needs to find a patch of nature. In this day and age, a park will do (provided that there aren't any prying mortal eyes, even though the existence of mythological monsters, deities and creatures is kind of an open secret at this point). Once there, one only needs to sing the song that Orpheus sang when he attempted to free his wife from the Underworld. If sung correctly, the Earth weeps, and the entrance to Panaema will reveal itself.

Monsters

All the monsters are real - from the Aeternae to the Ketea Indikoi - but the one who causes the most trouble is Cacia, a daemon with ties to Hercules. In Panaema canon, she is not just a daughter of the night but also a daughter of magic.

Major Characters

Khalida Samay: adoptive granddaughter of Geras Senectus, descendant of Pandaie, daughter of Hercules. (FC: Iman Vellani)

Chthonia "Thonia" Argyris: an amazon in training and the daughter of a giant that Hercules killed, who has nightmares about Amphritrite turning her and her siblings into birds after they pitch themselves off a cliff. (FC: Ally Ioannides)

Alcides "Al" Hasapi: a gargarean in training, who has yet to prove himself and strongly prefers peace over bloodshed despite the fact that his name essentially translates to strong butcher. Gargareans are pretty much the male equivalent of Amazons. (FC: Odiseas Georgiadis)

Eryx Bellini: the son of Aphrodite, who shares his first name with an ancient son of Poseidon. Not a huge fan of boxing, despite what others might say. Khalida's love interest. (FC: Gavin Casalegno)

Kassiani Jeong-Demopoulos: descendant of the oracle Xenoclea. (FC: Lola Tung)

Ione: descendant of Asclepius, has healing powers. Is also Thonia's ex. (FC: Elena Kampouris)

Agreus and Nomios Katsaros: twin sons of Pan.

Descendants of Macaria, Eucleia and Manto (all of them are daughters of Heracles in Panaema canon): they form a group of three.

Other important characters

Linus: son of Apollo, teacher at the school. Fears dogs. Loves astrology. Always wears gloves. Ione is his favorite pupil and she swears up and down that he's actually not that bad of a guy, just the human equivalent of a grumpy cat. Turns out that he can make people sick with just a single touch.

Hercules: The man, the myth, the legend.

Notes of importance

All the myths are real. All the lore is real. The focus in this story will be on how Indian and Greek lore intersects. And also on Hercules.

The government(s) know(s) about everything being real and they struck a deal: their help against monsters and in turn, they are granted a safe space to train the heroes of tomorrow. Think Motherland Fort Salem x Percy Jackson x Legacies.

In regards to fancasting the characters: I'll try my best to go for Greek actors and actresses where I can but seeing as this is my big brain baby, I'm also just going to fancast my favorite actors and actresses.

Some of the characters mentioned have died in their myths. How are they alive again? They resurrected people through the Adonis programme: souls were snatched from Elysium and Asclepius made them new bodies. Hercules being one of the first.

The mathematics probably doesn't add up timeline wise but I have dyscalculia.

More kids / descendants of Hercules will pop up at some point.

Tracy Spiridakos, Marie Avgeropoulos, Adele Exarchopoilos, Athena Karkanis and Melina Kanakaredes will also be fancasted into this project as teachers at some point.

The story I write is solely for artistic expression, various mentions of canons, npcs, ect are present. If you do not subscribe to canon x oc shipping, that's great! Though, it will be mentioned quite often that Sayuri harbors romantic affections for particular canon characters. This isn't to force ship or demand that this be written with her, it's merely to streamline a concrete story that moves from beginning, middle, to end. It's the start of the 2nd Term 2024 Inuyasha Fandom Awards!

We hope everyone has had a good start to the year! A huge shout-out to everyone who participated last term and made it such a huge success! We look forward to all of the amazing new fanfiction and fanart to be shared with this beautiful community!

A special thank you goes out to @elevenharbor for donating her time and talent to creating banners for everyone! (If you have not received your award banner for last term, please reach out to one of the mods asap!)

We also wanted to let you know that the lovely @yukinon-writes has stepped down as being a moderator for FeudalConnection. She has brought such amazing elements to our awards, and we will always keep a mod-spot open should she wish to return.

With her parting, we've had a seamless transition in welcoming @the-lone-huntress into the fold, and we look forward to all of her ideas and innovations she brings with her.

At the end of last term, the voting form also included the possibilities of the Roulette Categories for this term, and we have taken the top choices for both Fanart and Fanfiction:

The Fanfiction Roulette Category for this term will be Best Rising Author. This is defined as: A piece crafted by an Inuyasha fandom creator who has not placed first, second, or third in any previous quarters. A category to recognize lesser-known authors and show them some love.

The Fanart Roulette Category for this term will be Best Underappreciated Fanart. This is defined as: An Art piece with under 100 notes or retweets, designed to highlight some of the newer or lesser known artists.

In addition, we are adding a Roulette Romance category for both Fanfiction and Fanart. This term the pairing chosen will be Inuparents (Inu no Taisho x Izayoi).

For Fanfiction, it will be defined as: Stories that have developed a believable romance between Inu no Taisho and Izayoi (aka Inuyasha's parents). "Believable" is subjective, and it is up to those nominating/voting to draw their own line on that quantifier and vote their "Best". This includes canon universe and AU/AR settings. A thruple can be included, but only if the focus is on Izayoi and Inu no Taisho's relationship.

For Fanart, it will be defined as: Any romantic depiction of Inu no Taisho and Izayoi (aka Inuyasha's parents).

The original Best Romance categories will remain, so all other pairings, including LGBTQ+, can be nominated into those categories. All other pairings will be up for voting again next term.

If it wasn't mentioned above, chances are it hasn't changed. Please be aware that the moderators always take suggestions regarding how the awards are run and category changes into consideration, and each new term may bring about new changes. Themes consisting of the occult, violence, generational trauma, sexism, nihilism, ect are rampant. I prefer to write multi-paragraph to novella sized threads. One liners are usually reserved for quick but light interactions, if you are wondering how to start a thread, simply send in a prompt or like the starter calls / inbox calls. I use a mixture of different anime FCs, this muse interchanges her face constantly, but I do have one main FC. You are not allowed to use me as a source for muses, icons, ect. Failure to oblige results in a softblock, furthermore, if all you do is constantly reblog aesthetics I will part ways as it shows no engagement whatsoever. Inspiration is fine, but after awhile, if our blogs are aligning too much I start to feel uncomfortable.

random headcanon - superhero au (ryker angeles edition) (tw for mentions of blizzards and winter storms, just in case)

in a superhero verse, he is a cryokinetic mutant! this translates to an ability to manipulate ice and snow

“but queenie, isn’t ryker’s fc asher angel? asher angel who played billy batson in shazam? why not give him one or a few of shazam’s powers?”

honestly? i thought about that and strongly considered it. but one, i also thought that it couldn’t hurt to do a different power set.

two, i loved snow globe wonderland when asher released it back in the day! and three, ryker is a lost kid in his main descendants verse. lost kids are usually playful individuals, but they’re also canonically down for a fight. snow and ice can also be associated with playfulness as well as roaring, howling things that are important components of blizzards / winter storms

ryker’s codename is jack frost. he watched rise of the guardians when he was younger and saw so much of himself in the movie’s portrayal of this mythical figure

usually works alone. he has been known to collaborate with other heroes (such as the x-men, for example) when it comes to solving larger problems, but is quick to reassure his elder counterparts that he is just fine on his own

(if it wasn’t for the voice changing modulator built in his suit to help him sound older, ryker bets they would either do their best to dissuade him or would be signing adoption papers in a heartbeat)

Summary: After two months of writers block, Lovisa leaves the city, and books a cabin in the woods to clear her mind and work on her novel. Her relaxing month in nature takes a turn when she captures the attention of a reclusive mate-less Werebear.

❥ Has someone ever ruined an FC or character for you?

- Oh my goodness, YES. Putting this under a read more because it was kinda tramatic for me - anxiety mentions, dears.

Again, this is really hard to do. I've been in the rp game long enough that like a lot of old guard writers I'm decently good at separating the behavior of the mun from the fc they're using, but (without naming names) the mun of a canon male muse spent months slut-shaming me and Faith for things like reblogging TWO kissing memes (one mistletoe for x-mas and one NYE kiss) in the same month, or ever being interested in anything shippy to the point where it put me off shipping for a year and a half-ish. They tried to gaslight me, they tried to convince me to do things I wasn’t comfortable with, they tried to get me to beg for their attention then got mad when I refused. This isn’t even scratching the surface of what they did to me (only what I’m comfortable sharing, because some of it’s really bad) because hurting me was fun for them, a power trip.

I still, to this day, can’t make myself write with anyone using that FC just because it triggers Nam flashbacks of how gross they made me feel. They also bragged about doing the same thing to another mun with a female muse, and how hilarious they thought it was that they told everyone in her muse's home fandom not to write with her --- ps, she and I are buds now and she's the nicest person. 

To top it all off, when I finally had enough and blocked them they ran to my friends in hopes of getting their support and tried to say that they were having a hard time in their real life so no one's allowed to get mad at them for taking it out on me. Then threw a tantrum when some of my friends blocked them. Literally, the only thing I ever did to them was block them. This is the first time I’ve spoken about it publicly and I won’t be getting into more detail than that.

Anyone who’s wondering why I cap my ships at such a low number, now you know. Faith’s not big on relationships, anyway, and frankly she’s more of a casual hookup kind of girl (I like her that way, slut-shame all you want) but this instance is the reason why I don’t reblog shippy things. Even the idea of shipping with someone I’m not super close to/trust gives me panic attack flutters.

Tell! Me! All about Sigrid!! I am utterly curious!!

Hello! I am doing pretty well; I hope you are also doing alright!

SIGRID!!! I love her so much and really want to do more with her, but I know my OCs vary from well-known fandoms to obscure fandoms to purely self-indulgent rewrites of canon so honestly I don't blame people for running away from my blog at the first chance they get, haha. She is a MCU/Moon Knight OC and the daughter of Loki and Sigyn, if her last name (Lokidottir) wasn't enough indicator. She is also in a poly ship with Marc, Steve, and Layla, and possibly maybe Jake later on I'm not 100% sure. She survives the attack on the ship and witnesses Loki's death, which causes her to eventually flee New Asgard to explore Midgard like she'd always wanted to but never got a chance to. Total daddy's girl, especially because I'm imagining Sigyn died quite awhile before the events of Thor 1 (since to my memory she has never shown up or even been mentioned in any MCU film to date though in mythology she was married to Loki), and as a result Loki became very.... protective of her. Others may see Loki as evil and nothing more than a trickster, but she knows there's good in her father.

She ends up taking a position at the British Museum of History as an expert in Norse Mythology where she befriends Steven, as they both don't fit in and really have no other friends. She basically involves herself in the whole Harrow-Amit thing by staying after dark to follow Steven around because she can tell Harrow is more than he seems and has an interest in her friend. Which is how she meets Marc and learns about Moon Knight, Khonshu, etc.

Her and Khonshu do NOT get along for like 95% of the show arc - he doesn't trust her because she's a 'godling', specifically of Loki, and therefore a trickster like her father. They reluctantly start to get along after he realizes she stubbornly refuses to leave Marc, Steven, and Layla.

Layla initially wasn't sure what to make of this Asgardian that is best friends with her husband's alter but can't help but befriend Sigrid because of how curious she is. It also doesn't help that Sigrid is capable of holding her own in a fight, despite how naive she first appears with her fascination with everything Midgard.

She does use magic, which is appears green like her fathers, and also uses twin daggers like her father. Those are her main weapons, but she also inherited Loki's ability to shape-shift. Rather than being able to shape-shift into anyone or anything, Sigrid is primarily only able to shape-shift into a raven and, I'm thinking, a snake and maybe a wolf. She prefers her raven form out of those three though.

Her flat is kind of terrifying at first glance, because she has little religious shrines - one to her Uncle Thor, one to her father, and one to her mother - and while only really Thor's is received, having one for her parents is one of the ways she honors them.

Also I chose Daisy Ridley for her FC because I love her and adored the chemistry between Daisy and Oscar in the sequels-I-pretend-doesn't-exist and love Marc x Layla x Steven as an OT3 from the show (my social work background is telling me my preference for OT3+ is probably something i should examine further but uh that's not happening anytime soon if I can help it) and wanted to connect Moon Knight to the larger MCU so Sigrid was born.
