A photo from my high school's 10 year reunion popped up on my FB feed today. The only people who showed up were former athletes and student council members.

(I did not attend, obviously. I've had enough of those people to last a lifetime.)

Anyway, thinking about Eddie hosting an alternative reunion on the night of the officially sanctioned one in 1996.

At Hawkins High, it's just the Carvers and the Cunninghams and Co., and maybe a stray band geek or two, and those sad souls who desperately wanted to be part of The Cool Crowd™. They're all dressed to impress and lying about affairs and divorces and DUI's and pretending they're still totally rad and life is great while shitty pop music blasts in the near-empty gym.

Meanwhile, everyone else is in a field or in the woods. There's a cluster of kegs, almost everybody brought a packed cooler just in case, someone's definitely tokin' some reefer. Everybody who's there is there because they want to be, not because they feel obligated or are trying to impress anybody. The townies and the escapees are actually happy to see each other again. Corroded Coffin's on in 10. There miiight be a pickup full of drunks planning to swing by Hawkins High and moon the other reunion-goers before the night's over.
