went to ikea today so naturally all i was thinking about was a “the gang goes to ikea episode”…

…except it would more likely be a completely-non-specific-but-ikea-code-home-supplies-store. and it would be a season seven. i’m not sure why i think that - maybe because season seven has so many episodes orientated around the gang as one unit. or maybe because i’m irreparably in love with fat mac. i digress.

it would start out with dee wanting to go alone to get new things for her apartment, but because that means she won’t be at the bar, the rest of the gang get mad at her. then mac says “we’ll if you’re not at the bar and going to the big home supplies store instead, then i’m going to the big home supplies store too”. then charlie does too (because he’s never been, neither has mac), then frank (because charlie wants to go and it’s an opportunity for hijinks), then finally dennis says “goddammit! this is ridiculous, we can’t all go to the big home supplies store!!”

the gang goes to the big home supplies store

dennis wants to go round the store as quickly as possible and leave again, while charlie and frank want to look in every single room set. mac mostly wants to get to the food court (i feel shit typing that tbh but unfortunately i fully believe that’s how season seven max would be in this episode), and of course dee is just trying to shake the rest of the gang off because she “never wanted them all to come along, goddammit!”.

frank and charlie naturally split off pretty quickly and start to play pretend in each of the room sets, falling into a toxic married couple type dynamic - arguments about where frank goes in the evenings, and how the hell is charlie supposed to feed their kids if he spends all his money on booze and broads?? meanwhile, dennis and dee are arguing because dennis thinks she’s taking too long and they should never have come here, and dee is getting increasingly frustrated because that was her intention all along! mac is trailing behind, very obviously bored until he abandons them, unnoticed.

mac finds frank and charlie mid argument in a kitchen set, and instantly gets involved. charlie tries to set him up as the kid - “i mean god, frank, look at our son!! normal kids should be out beating dogs and setting fires, not sitting around inside eating all day!” “i thought you said you didn’t have enough to feed him? look at him, charlie!” - but mac’s having none of that; if he’s a part of the family, he’s not gonna be some dumb kid, he’s gonna be the badass dad that provides for his family and is tough, but of course loves them loads, especially his son even though he never tells him. (charlie pulls a face). but frank reasons that, well, wouldn’t that be kinda gay? frank’s the dad - mac can’t be dad too. after a moment, mac immediately slips into the mother roll, scooping charlie (happy to be the son) under one arm.

elsewhere, dennis now wants to leave the store for a totally different reason - the place is like a maze, there’s too many kids shouting, the lights are unreasonably bright, and jesus christ do the scented candles really have to smell that goddamn strong?! having gotten sick of dennis’s complaining and given up all hope of getting what she wanted, dee is now desperately trying to find the others because “whatever frank and charlie are up to has got to be better than listening to you whining all goddamn day!” dennis - furious but tired at the same time - follows, forlornly trying to point out that if they hadn’t all decided to come this never would have happened (“will you shut up dennis? goddamnit. and it wasn’t my idea for you all to traipse behind me like robin hood and his merry fucking men!”)

they eventually stumble upon the other three in the warehouse downstairs. mac, unable to keep up any semblance of motherly affection or care towards charlie, has quickly fallen into a childlike roll instead, vying for frank’s attention despite charlie not fighting back for it, while charlie is switching between arguing with frank and doting on mac. frank is outright ignoring them, obscenely flirting with a store employee while mac picks fights with charlie.

when dee and dennis arrive, mac turns his aggression towards them instead, and charlie tries to placate him. dee is frustrated beyond belief, snipping at them and bickering cruelly, while dennis sinks into a chair. he interrupts the arguing three by once again trying to point out that if they had all just listened to him, they’d never have come to this godforsaken hellscape, to which mac immediately argues that “hey! frank said we should come here and that it would be fun and it is! we’re having fun! as a family!” “no he didn’t! no he didn’t! i wanted to come here, ALONE, frank has nothing to do with this! charlie was the one who messed things up by coming along too only to run off again.” “oh! oh, i’m sorry!-”

at this point, frank interrupts with a “children!”, the employee disappearing off behind him. at his voice, both dennis and dee instinctively shut up, but so do charlie and mac (who cowers). “will you please keep it down? i got a broad back here with enormous tits and i think im about to get lucky tonight-”

however, then he, too, is interrupted, this time by the appearance of security guards, directed towards him by the employee from before. “oh, shit.” says frank.

WAAAA idk how this ended up so long aha, i was mostly making it up as i went and it just…got out of hand… essentially i really liked the idea of an ikea-like store (ie, a place where you go to literally create a home) being a setting to explore the ways the gang revert to childlike versions of themselves sometimes, especially outside of the bar, and how they adopt frank as a father figure despite him never encouraging it. charlie, normally the most childish of them all, becomes more mothering in response to a childhood spent parenting his own mother, as well as being overwhelmed by unwanted saccharine affection from her; mac is desperate to be the version of his father he convinced himself is real, but instead instantly reverts to a touchy, scared child using anger and aggression to fight instead of flight; dennis tries in vein to seem righteous and intelligent, the omnipotent golden god leader, but instead falls apart the moment the gang becomes out of his control, needing a mother figure to tell him that he’s smart and that he’s right; dee, like charlie, is unable to properly be a child because that was a privilege only dennis got growing up, and is instead forced to be a substitute mother for dennis, making her cruel and snappy in an attempt to shake him off but only making him more desperate for her approval; and of course frank, the cardboard cut out father the others turn to, just as much of a false figure to dennis and dee as to mac and charlie, unpresent and uncaring but better than the alternative - no parental figure at all.

and allll that in some silly philly fun !! idk if that’s what i captured, but that was the intention lol. i’m not rly a writer (as u can probs tell oops), but the idea just grabbed me in is sweaty, clammy hands and shook me like a soggy rag xx

His powers are severely limited except for when he uses his Noble Phantasm, and he doesn’t know what a Noble Phantasm is so he thinks he’s been weakened forever (until he figures out how to use it ala Mash did) So many of the people here don’t know who he is, so they aren’t scared of him. At least a lot of the evil Heroic Spirits want to hang out with him.

Tbh it's more than kitchen scraps if you're skittering into the backyard at night.

We follow the motto of "Well, if we're putting it outside, we're feeding everybody, not just the birds."

So we put out any cooking fat, produce that's not bad, but beyond where we'd wanna eat it, eggs, bits of veg and other little things to help keep the local wildlife healthy from a distance and keep them from having to scavenge/go after things that might harm and/or put them at risk.

We figure it's our duty as humans living in the forest that we are sharing the space, which means we should share our resources, too!

As for people food, I can offer some breaded chicken and mac n cheese made with cotija, fresco, and cheddar.

K I'm gonna drop a southern recipe for y'all get ready:

Salmon Croquettes

Ingredients:

Canned salmon

Eggs

Post Toasties or Corn Flakes

White or yellow onion

Crisco, lard, or veggie oil (to fry in)

Okay so southern cooking is about feeling rather than specific measurements. I usually use 2 cans of salmon to serve 4-6 people. Salmon is the control here: it's the only one that is difficult to add cuz you have to open another can.

This works best over a gas stove, bc it's easier to control the heat and will heat more evenly, but will work on electric.

I usually mix it with my hands, you want it evenly mixed without breaking up the corn flakes too much

Put salmon into a large bowl and break it up. You don't have to remove the bones, but tbh they look gross

Salt and pepper

Add diced onion to preference

Add corn flakes maybe 1/2 cup at a time, mixing as you go

You want maybe 3:2, salmon:corn flakes

Add an egg & mix

Add eggs until the mixture can hold together enough to make patties

To cook:

In a large cast iron skillet, use enough oil to put about a .5-1 cm on the bottom of the skillet.

Heat the skillet on medium high. - Usually it's ready when you can flick a drop of water at the surface and it's dramatic. Idk temperature

Make a test patty first. If it absorbs the oil, the oil is too cool. It should go into the pan and start frying immediately. It will pop and sizzle like bacon

Keep in mind we are only pan frying these. DO NOT deep fry. The oil should go halfway up the patty AT MOST

The oil is too hot if it doesn't stay in the pan when you add a patty. (Violently. If it's popping and uncontrollable. Basically if you start to panic, it's probably too hot) If it gets that way, cover and remove from heat. Wait until it's cooled down considerably to start again

Test patty: it will probably be too cool to fry and will soak up a ton of the grease. Don't worry, just leave the patty in the oil until it does start to fry properly.

Once the oil is hot enough, you can fry multiple patties at a time. Do not crowd the pan. You should have enough room to flip the patties over.

Fry patties until golden brown and crispy on both sides.

Place finished patties on a large plate covered in a paper towel to absorb the excess grease

Side suggestions: Mac n cheese, green beans, peas, mashed potatoes, okra n tomatoes, etc. French fries could be good but I haven't had them together.

Serve with ketchup.

You can add more seasoning to the recipe if you like, but Southern cooking as I know it uses very few ingredients. My great grandma lived during the depression & my memaw (who taught me) was a kid during WWII. These foods came from poor people who needed to eat enough to work outdoors, so they're high in fat. It'll put meat on your bones, yk?

ahh i really need to write my entries the day of instead of waiting a couple of days. now i can barely remember what to write. that was the whole point of this dairy - to go back and read what i forgot about.

i went to mcdonalds at lunchtime and used one of those app deals. 10 nuggets + big mac for like $5. good deal but i'm fat asf. why did i do that? i really didn't need that. i need to buy more flavors of gum to keep me occupied i guess.

also had my meeting with my new boss. she's cool i think i maybe said too much. perhaps i called some people at work dick riders for our place of employment. hmmm. probably shouldn't have said that but she laughed so whatever. also emailed my old boss and she answered. seems like she likes her new job and place so that's good.

most days i play ff14 so i don't always feel like mentioning it unless something happens but i played with that third guy again. the one who likes gposing and goes to venues. well he took me to venues but they were all dead except for femboy hooters. yup. he refused to go in but i went in. not sure i really like doing those social aspects of the game tbh. i'd rather just play the game, like the story, sidequests, and leveling? he said he just skipped all the cutscenes in the game and would rather do stuff with his friends. wow. complete opposite for me lol

When it comes to non canon content, which of the characters would you say is the best indicator for poor characterisation? Who starts to feel like someone in a mask before the others have shown a crack? Who tends to become almost a different person when others become shadows of themselves? Who is the ultimate bad characterisation barometer???

the problem isn’t really that any of them are out of character; it’s the exact opposite. the problem is the writers are so afraid of accidentally writing something OOC that they only ever stick to a small handful of Approved action and dialogue options that are Safe, and refuse to ever branch out, and as a result all of the characters feel dumbed down. for starters, their quirk usage is severely nerfed. Ochako and Momo could have done so much more with their respective quirks. and Shouto as well, honestly. Tokoyami too, since Shouto was there! they even pointed out that Shouto could use his quirk to help keep DS under control, only to come up with some flimsy explanation about Shouto not wanting to use up all their O2. but like, that’s only a problem if you’re not using DS to aggressively blast your way up to the surface and to freedom lol. anyway so there were a lot of things like this. mostly little things but they added up.

and their intelligence is also significantly downplayed. for instance, Kaminari and Kirishima act like they’re not capable of taking any kind of independent action unless Bakugou is there to order them around. why is Bakugou the only one who can figure out how to apply Kaminari’s quirk? why can’t Kami figure that out himself. he literally doesn’t catch on until Bakugou is holding the wires out in front of him and spelling it out for him explicitly. he’s basically just portrayed as a dumbass for the sake of comic relief. by contrast, canon!Kaminari is a lot more vibrant and intelligent. he has a tendency to overreact, but he’s also more than capable of improvising and holding his own. he also makes fun of the other characters a lot more, instead of always just being the butt of the joke himself. basically he does a lot of clowning, but he’s not a complete idiot, you get me?

and there are also just some little character touches which the anime writers either don’t pick up on or refuse to apply, and as a result the characters just feel a little bit off. a good example from this OVA is Bakugou’s movement. just the way he moves around. in the OVA he keeps shuffling around in this awkward slow-paced gait with his big fat grenade arms slowly swinging back and forth, and it’s fucking bizarre tbh. whereas if you look at Bakugou in the manga, he’s fucking all over the place. he is not slow or deliberately calm and cool at all; he’s flying around impatiently and yelling at the others complaining that they’re too slow and they need to keep up with him. just look at the Joint Training arc. or the battle against Soda Sam after he and Shouto get their licenses, where he climbs a fucking streetlight for absolutely no reason other than that he can. he has a flying quirk! he moves in a 3D space! and the one thing he absolutely does not do is saunter around like he’s got all the time in the world. he is far too impatient for that. he wants to get the job done and usually prefers a direct approach, and is a very powerful kid who’s constantly on the verge of having all of his pent-up energy boil over completely, and his body language and movement reflect that, or should at any rate.

so basically it’s just a bunch of little details all marked by a general unwillingness to take risks, and a tendency to paint the characters in very broad strokes rather than with any nuance. the overall feel, for me, was one of vaguely BnHA flavored fast food content. which is perfectly fine, and just as capable of feeding everyone! but I just wish it would acknowledge that it’s fast food, and take itself a little less seriously in that case. in the first OVA there was a running joke where Kacchan kept whining that the plot was pairing him up with Deku, and Tsuyu kept reminding him that they were in an anime special. and that was fucking awesome. they just fully embraced the fact that they were fucking around for the sake of producing some cool fanservice. but in this OVA I don’t think they so much as cracked a joke throughout the entire thing, and honestly even something as small as that would have made it a lot more enjoyable for me. this wasn’t grade A wagyu beef, and it didn’t have to be! but it felt like they were trying to act like it, and I personally would have liked it much better if they had just been upfront and accepted the fact that they were a Big Mac, and weren’t actually trying to bring anything new or revolutionary to the table and were just microwaving up some comfort food.

anyway, for all of my long-winded whining about it, it really is not That Big Of A Deal at all and I’m happy to see that most people seemed to enjoy it. I’m not going to write a long Karen letter to the editor and demand my money back or anything lmao. it is what it is. and honestly, seeing more positivity and enthusiasm in this fandom is always a good thing.

in conclusion, regarding this other ask I received,

I don’t really have any specific things I’m absolutely dying to see per se; I just would really like to see something with a little more emphasis on fun, rather than trying to Very Seriously hit the same old notes over and over again. to this end, my writing strategy would probably be one of the following:

grab a set of gaming dice and recruit 20 volunteers to roleplay the class while I DM on the fly, and use the resulting mess as a basis for my script

in a similar vein, give some BnHA action figures to a group of seven year olds, and set them loose and document whatever wacky storyline they came up with

literally use the exact same OVA plotline we actually got, but with a sloshed Aizawa narrating it like an episode of Drunk History. “so basically I gathered them all up and was all, ‘listen up, I’m going to divide the class into two groups of Important Characters and Less Important Characters. try not to think too hard about this.’ anyways so then...”

anyway! I will stop complaining about this now and let everyone live their lives in peace.

I’m not a big fan of labels in general. I think they can be extremely useful/helpful to some people, but also constricting and confusing to others. If you attach yourself to a label or want to attach one to you and it makes you happy/confident/etc then of course that’s totally fine! I do think there are some stereotypes that get washed around a lot with both of those, good and bad, which don’t always help things, but still.

I would love to know some of the things they changed (i haven't watched the movie yet and rn the only thing that I have for the musical is that I like the songs (like, the beat not the lyrics, but not really anything else)

there’s so much, but i’ll keep the list down a decent amount (I lied. I could caught up halfway through. but this still isn’t even all the changes)

so the movie actually starts with veronica already being apart of the heathers (I personally prefer that, the musical beginning feels too cliché)

it also starts with her being jaded and done with everyone’s shit not becoming jaded as the story progresses (which I find more interesting than the ‘optimistic air head kinda thing they go for in the musical. like, she comes off as an idiot in the musical, but you don’t get that in the movie)

duke has a personality! she’s a quiet, shy bookworm who’s jewish and used to be friends with martha when she was little, who was pushed around by heather c quite a bit which is why she changed so much when c died

heather m isn’t... the way she is in the musical (I feel they made her come off... idk, too soft?) she’s a bully who gets sad when her friends die and even more sad when she’s bullied

the party + kurt (or ram, idk which. one’s forcing himself on heather m the other’s after veronica) thing are two different events, not the same one. the party happens first, and then the jocks being creeps thing happens after chandler’s funeral. also it’s not mac n duke locking v in a room with the boys, mac asks veronica to go on a double date with kurt and ram since one of them has been really nice to mac, but it ends in a field with the boys pushing over cows before being creeps

so the musical actually made the girls worse characters (like... they’ re complicated in attempted r*pe… in the movie mac had no idea what the boys were planning, was actually maybe r*ped herself and never stopped veronica or anything. in the movie veronica’s the dick since she just walks off without helping mac they don’t portray it as r*pe in the movie tbh but they don’t in the musical either)

jd isn’t as dramatic about his backstory, he tells it all with a smile on his face like he doesn’t care instead of being all sad and emo and it’s creepy and actually good

heather c is clearly shown to have cared for veronica (she has some cute pictures of her with veronica smiling and goofing about in her locker) even if she was a dick 

also, heather c is like 16 and is shown to be uncomfortable with sex (in the musical they make her seem like she’s 18 and super into it which is.... ew)

it ends outside in the movie, jd’s there with the bomb on his chest and veronica just leans against the rails and pulls out a cigarette which gets lit when the bomb goes off (mirroring the earlier scene where veronica burnt herself after being so angry for letting kurt + ram get killed, and jd lits his cigarette on her burnt hand)

also veronica shoots his middle finger off and says “You know what I want, babe? Cool guys like you out of my life“ and it’s the coolest thing ever

Headbanger’s Kitchen - awesome heavy metal guitarist makes a variety of interesting and flavorful keto recipes influenced by indian cuisine. includes some vegan stuff as well! a nice diversion from the usual stuff you see.

As far as sweeteners, a lot of people use erithrytol or stevia-erithrytol blends to sweeten things like baked goods, since erithrytol is supposedly not metabolized by your body at all so you can completely deduct the carbs from it in your net carbs. Honey is not a great alternative since a single tablespoon of honey contains 17g of sugar (according to Google, who pulls nutrition info from USDA). Not only is that p much all of your carbs for 1 day, it will almost definitely trigger an insulin response and knock you out of keto.

I guess it just depends what you’re using the sweetener for? Like, if it’s for coffee or something, just use whatever sugar substitute you want. Powdered versions of sugar alcohol often contain actual sugar (a fact that makes my mind turn inside-out with frustration) but if you’re using like one Splenda packet in a cup of coffee I don’t think that’s enough to make a huge difference. Or get the liquid sucralose or something instead of Stevia.

If you’re concerned with sweetening baked goods, I’d say use erithrytol, and something like sucralose or stevia to punch it up if needed(erithrytol is less sweet than sugar, other sugar substitutes are often sweeter than sugar). But i would also suggest avoiding a lot of baking and treats when you first start and re-introducing them once you’re adapted. Your tastes will change a lot.

Some shopping tips:

- Mission Carb Control tortillas are amazing- Chicken thighs are cheaper, better-tasting, and have more fat than chicken breasts. On Keto, all of these things are positives.- Similarly, buy the highest fat content ground beef you can. Usually it’s 27/73. Keto or not, this is a requirement to make a good burger. :D- Pork rinds are a good thing to have around as a crunchy/impulse snack when you first start, while you’re adapting.- Grab a pint of halo top ice cream for when u do get a sweet tooth, or arctic zero if you’re lactose intolerant.- coconut flour actually makes a pretty good deep-fry coating. pork rinds make a better one but much higher calorie- you’re gonna need more eggs- seriously eggs are like the perfect keto food- Look for sugar-free, gluten-free, and paleo-friendly products. There’s a lot of overlap of these diets with keto. For example, Heinz makes a reduced sugar ketchup that has like 1g carbs per tablespoon, vs 4 in regular ketchup, and I don’t notice the difference. Again, though, your tastes change. I’m super sensitive to sweet flavors now, but also I’ve been drinking diet sodas since i was a kid so the “chemical” taste of artificial sweeteners doesn’t bother me if i notice it at all, so ymmv- ketoers love to brag about how much bacon they eat but honestly the novelty of bacon every day wears off fast.- you’re not really going to eat as much meat as you might think -- only 20% of your calories should come from protein -- but still, stock up on meat when you can. portion it out into individual servings and pack it in your freezer

Some life tips:

- don’t just eat junk. this is something i struggle with. a lot of junk is “keto friendly” and if you eat that while managing to stick to your macros you WILL stay in ketosis and you WILL lose weight (if that’s your goal. it’s my goal), but you’ll feel like ASS. Make sure you’re getting in all your micronutrients as well, and especially make sure you’re getting electrolytes.- don’t get discouraged by the cost of some of the ingredients. once you’re adapted you eat a LOT less. i spend very little on groceries per week, honestly my biggest food cost is probably my diet dr pepper addiction and i’ve been considering phasing that out.- if weight loss is your goal, you still have to eat at a calorie deficit. i think this is something that a lot of people who don’t get the results they want from a LCHF diet don’t realize. If you are small, sedentary, and afab like moi, that can mean very few calories -- I eat around 1000-1300kcal a day (often fewer than 1k tbh) but for my size and activity level that’s okay.- if weight loss is not your goal, just stick to your macros and don’t worry about counting calories and you’ll be good :)- double quarter pounder, add bacon, no ketchup, no bun, add mac sauce- you can find a keto-friendly option at most restaurants, but be aware that restaurant food often has “hidden carbs” and higher sugar content than homemade versions- if you drink, be careful! your metabolism will be a lot more efficient and it’s gonna wreck your alcohol tolerance. your drinking options are gonna be pretty much limited to lite beer and neat spirits, but 1-2 drinks is all you’re gonna be able to handle most likely.- these things are gross but worth saying:- you’re gonna pee a lot, especially when you’re adapting, and especially-especially because you should be drinking a LOT of water on this diet (part of the reason it’s so important to supplement electrolytes). it’s going to smell like straight up acetone. this is normal.- you’re uh, you’re not gonna poop very much. and it’s... gonna take a while before it’s “solid” again. one of the taglines of r/keto is “never trust a keto fart,” and it’s that for a reason. this is also normal, and if you’re eating right will improve over time.- if you do choose to supplement fiber, use psyllium husk tablets and make sure to drink plenty of water. adding psyllium husk powder or oat fiber to your food is a good option as well. fiber supplements like metamucil often have added sugar, so steer clear of these- don’t cheat until after you’re well-adapted. be very strict for a couple months, then maybe consider the occasional cheat meal. if you’re like me, it will help keep you from giving up, and if you’re trying to lose weight it might actually help keep you from stalling by resetting your metabolism- like many things, if it doesn’t feel good, stop. if you’re doing it right but getting negative side effects, it might not be the right option for you and that’s okay too!

So, here’s the thing I always see with giving characters Pokemon Teams: they stick to one ‘type’. Now, who actually does that when they play? Nah, you get what you think is cool, and balance your teams if you’re smart. 

So while I tried to keep to ‘types’, they also have some ‘themes’, or tossing out a theme altogether. And I sort of did the thing with their pets as well. But their ‘Companion Pokemon’ is something related to their Special Talent. I’ll list their team of 6, and some will get a ‘why they were chosen’ thing added. ·

Silly clothing isn't really an issue of representation, but a realism vs. cool thing, so I don't want to discuss that in this thread, it's a discussion for another time for me. Sevastian is literally asking for hypothermia there for the glory of sexiness.

I agree on Amara not being as buff as a knight should, or on that previous fair skinned badass fighters should be more buff (and that it's high time to stop playing over the same stereotype of slim feminine bright girls and brawny muscular dark skinned women).

But Amara does have deltoids, abs and biceps still. I can see that even if they're not that impressive as in case of Wrath or Mac or drawn badly. So from my point of view it's simply not true she's comparable to Vanessa or Onyx since these 2 are actually very noodle-armed for fighters. And yes, we see it after the Hazel scene, but my point remains. Your point remains as well since she should be more buff.

However Amara was designed with at least some muscle unlike any previous fair skinned female warriors which were designed specifically to be anything but muscular. That's a change, and a good one, even if there's still long way to go.

No previous female LI had the pear body type either (with such small chest she's nowhere close to hourglass figure and pear type is definitely not what you'd expect to buff up). Many people have this type irl, with wide hips with small ribcage. This trait is exaggerated, yeah, but not really more than unrealistic buff of the other characters, tbh.

(I could at this point mention how unrealistic the musculature of both male and female LIs is - that's something you don't see on healthy people, that's something you achieve by heavy dehydration and cutting down fat below the level that keeps the body going. It's not really a thing of representation itself, but overall prevalent motif of any mainstream media.)

I mentioned Xenia because of her curvy hips and thighs too but didn't want to get into much discussion about that not to get onto shaky ground of bringing up their body traits too much. No other female LI-to-be had so curvy body type either. So as far as I see these 2 characters were designed no character before was. There wasn't really any body type diversity before and everyone looked pretty much the same. So I do see it as a bit more diversity in body types added. Even if the design could be better.

It's nothing new a big part of the audience did not want dark skinned LIs and bi/pan women in the games. This is not the part where Lovestruck is to blame, especially considering they're trying to navigate the minefield of various fans wanting different things - including fans that want their racism or biphobia validated.

Lovestruck is business, so it cannot just brush off paying customers, and for me it's pretty telling the app is sneaking in more diversity, despite it's not welcome, and that they're doing it with caution and try to feel the audience up, knowing said audience can be pretty racist. Astoria, GiL or Castaway have little number of dark skinned characters. The overall liked HifL looks better, but is still not quite there (Mac being shown as biracial this late in story was likely a stealth move, and Eva's transness wasn't really addressed and I'm still bitter about it), and Sweet Enchantments have almost whole cast, yeah, pity that downplayed with the technicolour hair, and Sin With Me in comparison is much better too. Lovestruck has to keep in mind a big part of fanbase isn't fond of that while trying to include more diversity.

The context of the whole Lovestruck for me is much longer, much more complex with all the discourse, reactions to it, characters, routes and juggling the fanbase demands, so I'm trying to simply bring some wider perspective on the development of the stories, LIs and motifs over the course of many titles.

I have noticed the non-lesbian female LIs get released later in the series when people call for their routes, and I have noticed that survey. That's something to keep an eye on. However with all their fails, mess-ups, slips and issues, they're moving in small steps towards more inclusivity. Playing it safe, because it's business and no one wants to be the one to mess things with the bosses up. I see a lot of improvement in the number of dark skinned characters, differences in character designs, inclusion of those parts of LGBTQ community they were excluding up to this point. Including aces, having a demisexual LI isn't something to brush off with all the ace exclusion. Same for bi and pan women as LIs. That's a new thing, and a very good thing they are risking bringing such LIs. I'd say they're doing fairly well considering what critical comments I've seen about other popular Western apps of the kind.

Of course mess-ups and issues should be addressed, I don't argue that. But I'm far from judging them too much, considering the positive change I've seen recently, and I'm more keen to give them some benefit of doubt. So since your original post omitted that I wanted to bring it back up and give credit for the improvement I've seen in the app, even if Lovestruck has still long way to go.

About unfortunate implications of Hazel's tomboyish style, we seem to have some cultural difference. But since I participated in the local trans community only briefly and distanced myself quickly, I cannot speak for it too much more than saying I'm surprised a tomboyish trans woman is stereotypical. Here there's a big pressure on trans people to fit the gender stereotypes more than cis people, to be even allowed to transition. That's my experience talking, though, it's likely very different from America. So I'm kind of glad to see Hazel not being a girly girl while still being trans.

Anyway I was not meaning to really argue with your point but rather add some positive things I see and appreciate despite all the mess-ups.

I’m very excited about a potential trans LI. I love hazel very much and we all know her design has me weak.

HOWEVER, if none of your white women have any sort of muscle definition except for the trans one? That’s fucked up.

Helena, Vanessa, Amara, Onyx (among others) should all be absolutely ripped based on their lifestyles, but they aren’t drawn that way. The muscular female LIs have all be WOC, which is problematic in its own right (I shouldn’t have to explain why making most of your WOC big and intimidating and less traditionally feminine is an issue).

Having the first real white female LI with muscle definition be trans?? Is incredibly questionable. How many languages do you speak? One: English.  I took Spanish in high school and I WISH I could be better at it, but I’m lazy and tired and don’t have a lot of motivating factors to keep learning it.  I don’t know a lot of people IRL that speak Spanish (and a lot of the ones I’ve known also speak English and would probably be more comfortable with me speaking English since I’m white/black).

What’s your dream job? Honestly my dream job would be no job…. But     working on music for games would be cool, I guess.

An unpopular opinion: I don’t like when the culture is like, “mean” to people with “nerd”  hobbies who are gamers or watch anime or whatever.  Like yeah, there’s a lot of annoying  people who do those things, but there’s a lot of annoying people with ANY  hobby or whatever.  Plus there’s ALL sorts of different people with these “nerd” hobbies.  You’re not just making fun of the cishet white dude who only eats Cheetos, lives in his parents’ basement until he’s in his 40s, and fetishizes Asian girls because of his “waifu.”  You’re also making fun of minorities, women,     the LGBT community, etc, who like “nerd” things.  Like, you can joke about gamers a little and it’s fun, or you can point out problems with the gaming community (while also understanding that every community has its problems), but some people take it too far and it’s just like… being mean to people with hobbies for no reason and making dumb assumptions. It’s so minor, but I find it annoying sometimes because I’m a dumb nerd lol
