oops. so. i haven't posted here in a while. i usually posted my feelings while at work, but work whipped me like a bitch this summer. wow. that was rough. not to mention the crazy people they have hired! they cataloged at yale i'll have you know.
let's see.... i got a new phone. the teal iphone 16. it's a lot nicer in person. i got a new laptop too. you never realize how shitty your stuff is until you get the new one lol
i watched nana with justin on friday nights. it was good but nothing good ever happened to either of those girls i feel so bad.
i started grad school. it actually really fucking sucks and i want to quit every day. i have never felt this way about school work since like high school. the work itself, the professors, and the students. i just hate them all. it's filled with people who haven't worked in a library before or professors who'd rather think about doing library work than actually doing it. it's just out of touch and i feel like a crazy person. i feel like those losers who say 'why do i need to learn this?' but it's true this time. none of the shit they talk about matters at all. no one at work cares about that shit. the hardest part is trying to care about the assignments. so far they are so boring and just feels like you need to be graded on something. idk man. i'll stick it out but it's tough. not to mention i usually end up spiraling about all that stuff. i think i've come close to a panic attack once or twice. so it's weird. i don't care but obviously a deeper part of me cares about something or some part of it? i think it's the grades part. i seem to overthink that a lot.

also i went to visit justin in nyc. we went shopping and saw the ff distant worlds orchestra perform at carneige hall. it was so good i cried. when they announced they were going to play dancing mad i thought i was going to throw a fit. i secretly recorded it too, mwahahaha. now i want to go to the one around here in october for the ff7 orchestra. i hope it is as good.

so i beat xenogears on sunday. it was really fun. i'm glad i replayed it. i want to buy more ps one classics but i spent a bunch of money this month already. i think i should chill.
daddy and i went car shopping yesterday. we went to the toyota place in town. the guy was kind of pushy. i didn't buy anything but i think i'm going to put $500 down for a new hybrid corolla. i'm going to the bank on my lunch break today to see about their interest rates. my credit isn't bad but it's not in the 800s. i think i could get a good %.
kitten finally came home. that little turd stayed outside all day. i thought for sure she died or something. i was outside calling and calling her. then when she came in she demanded wet food.

stupid ass blazer had a flat tire this morning. stuck at wawa. raining. texted daddy - never answered. texted mama - told me to ask someone else because she didn't want to leave church. facetimed derek - didn't answer, eventually did show up. my archnemesis was there and was the one who helped me. i beat mama and daddy home. i am so pissed. was church really that important? they are kind of awful actually. both times i was stranded they didn't answer. i think i'm just going to have to figure out how to live on my own, they aren't planning on helping in the hour of need. and they won't be here forever anyway. time to know how to change a tire AND have the tools on hand to do it.

game review - final fantasy 7 rebirth
story: i mean yup that was definitely a part of the story of the original ff7. i did have some gripes - when you visit nieblheim they don't even bother to gaslight tifa and cloud into thinking it never burned!!! that was so important to me in the original. that is what makes the player really think 'okay cloud is for sure crazy, and tifa (who at this point seemed to be operating within reality) might also be crazy.' that was such a disappointment. aerith's death was pretty stupid too. it just didn't hit like the original. (i also really hated the multiverse thing they've got going on, like give it a rest) also dyne's storyline wasn't as good as the og either. it's kind of like whoever is remaking this game just didn't quite get what parts of the game are good and memorable and why they are good and memorable. i dunno
characters: you know i hated cait sith in the original. i don't even really know why, he's a cat riding a moogle. that should have been so cute. instead he was a little freak. well he is so cute in this one, him and barret were probably my fav characters. in the og, my favs were aeris and red13. i still liked them in this version but i dunno - cait sith and barret were kewl.
i hate chadley though.
battling: remember how in ff9 there was that crystal system that had attributes on all your gear (potentially) and if you battled with it equipped enough you'd be able to keep it forever (provided it was equipped through the crystal system)? they kinda did that in this one with having an ability attached to weapons only. it did give incentive to use the abilities (and i sure did) so that was pretty cool.
conclusion: i had more fun with this than part one of the game. although, when i played star ocean 2 r, i was like 'im never going back to the original, this is for sure the better version' i don't feel that way with this. it just makes me want to play the original again, i don't feel the need to play THIS game any more after beating it. and isn't that what a remake is supposed to do? replace the original? does everything need to be an open world action rpg? if they had remade the game but stuck with turn based combat + used those chibi models like that ff7 phone game - i think i would have liked it more.
this is just a cash grab cuz square enix needs that monay i guess. but overall it really wasn't bad - could have been a lot worse.

today was the eclipse!! mama got glasses for us at the library last monday. i took mine with me to work today. they opened the roof of one of the buildings so people could get on it, so i walked over there. it was full though. then i went back to the library which is all the way across campus. i climbed the stairs to go to the roof there bcos some of my coworkers said they'd be going up there. well they weren't and the door was locked. so i ran back down and went out to the parking lot to see it. it was so cool. it was like 85% covered here. it got darker (like dusk) and got a lot cooler. the shadows turned to crescents. one of my coworkers had glasses for your camera lens so i borrowed it to take some photos:

graphic novel reviews
i've read various graphic novels i checked out from work over my winter break. but i don't feel like they need a full review, so here's a star review plus maybe a sentence or two. (yeah i know it's march - i forgot, okay?)
m is for monster ★★☆☆☆ i just wasn't vibing with it. i could appreciate the underlying message but i mean it was just too short to get the point across (well). and the characters weren't too likeable.
the prince and the dressmaker ★★★☆☆ i liked the art a lot and the story was cute, especially the ending. it was kind of weird that it wasn't a fantasy setting and instead real life europe but whatever.
beetle and the hollow bones ★★☆☆☆ cute but otherwise forgettable.
check please! vol. one ★★☆☆☆ dialogue was pretty cringe and so 2010s. the art wasn't really for me either.
the princess and the grilled cheese ★★★★☆ the art was so nice, i loved the curly hair on the 'prince'. funny cheese names and no named kingdom (unlike the prince and the dressmaker)
the well ★★★★☆ i liked the action and the art. wish there was a sequel.
squad ★★★★☆ lesbian high school mean girl werewolves who kill and eat evil men? yeah sure okay
tidesong ★★☆☆☆ a little childish and the art was a kinda meh at times
mooncakes ★★☆☆☆ meh story and the art wasn't great.
this one summer ★★★★★ loved all the disjointed story lines that converged together in the end. loved the monochrome art, especially the chubby little girl character. so cute!
himawari house ★★★☆☆ a little hard to tell who was who and when things were taking place in the present or were a flashback. it was clever to write out their accents but it was hard to read.

i did a lot of shopping today. first i went back to books a million and i got conned into the yearly membership. she didn't really explain the cost clearly - probably on purpose - so i guess i have a membership now lol. she said i could combine the 20% of the educator discount + the membership only coupons (which i admit they are pretty nice) for max savings. i thought about cancelling it but i'll try it out for a year - it was only $25 dollars after all. not the 70cents she claimed.
then i went to bath and body works. last night i saw the store was 40% off and i had a 25% coupon. they let me stack them so i ended up getting 3 epds + a lotion. but when i went to pay for it i couldn't find my credit card. i had just used it at books a million. i paid with my debit and tried not to freak out. i back tracked back to my suv and found it laying on the ground beside the driver's door. omg. i almost had a meltdown.
i went back inside to the food court and got chicken biryani. then i went to weis + wawa but i really didn't feel like meal prepping for the week so that will be a problem for future terra.
in the evening i played ff7 some more. i'm in the temple of the ancients. i think i'm almost done too.

this afternoon we had interviews. ugh. wearing that headset gives me headaches. i also walked over to the grocery store to grab some snacks, so i ended up not going to the gym during my lunch break. just couldn't fit it in.
after work i drove to books a million to figure out the educator discount thing. i had completely forgotten i filled the form out. but hey it's all set up now so i bought some manga and used my discount :) i might just start going there instead of buying online? or maybe try to buy as much stuff in person? i just hate becoming a regular at a place lol. i don't want to be remembered!!!!!!

anime review - madoka magica
some context: i watched this way back when in like 2012. it was probably one of the first anime i had ever seen. i rewatched it with justin, he had never seen it before.
the story: in the past year or two i have seen people on tumblr saying this show sucks actually, and i was worried that it would just be some stupid edgy show. it really wasn't. i actually probably liked the story more this time around than before. i think it's because i've been exposed to more anime since then. like at that point i had only seen parts of sailor moon, so in theory i knew what a magical girl was but it didn't quite click as to why madoka was so different. i think the same can even be said for eva. that was another of my first animes i ever watched (on myspace believe it or not). i didn't understand mecha anime tropes then and tbh i still haven't watched anything other than that (i don't think) so maybe i don't even get eva as good as i could if i had watched series previous to it.
in retrospect i am now suspicious of all lil guys in magical girl anime. justin watched cardcaptor sakura a couple of years ago and i asked if the little dog thing was evil and he was like 'no!!wtf' so perhaps this story has had more lasting damage on my mind than previously thought.
also just loved how homura had a normal ass hand gun. that was hilarious. if i was a magical girl i'd want a normal gun too tbh.
the characters: you know i didn't really like sayaka and kyoko the first time around but i liked them this time. homura and madoka were still my favs tho. and i think i like em even more!
conclusion: yea i still think this is a good show. i think i appreciate it more now than way back when. i'm kind of interested in the movies too - i heard they are good.

anime review - outlaw star
some context: i watched this with justin. we had both always heard about it but had never seen it.
story: gotta be honest, there isn't much of one. it starts out really strong. hilda conning gene to bring her to melfina and gives him the outlaw star once she gets blown up. pretty cool. it does a good job of making you wonder what the mystery is. too bad it doesn't even bother expanding on the questions it poses though! it becomes a gag booby anime (and not even a good one) after a while. the evil cactus ice cream episode was pretty memorable though.
the characters: gene sucks. jim's a turd. hilda was cool but she got blown up. melfina was a macguffin. samurai girl was alright. aisha best girl. i loved her english voice actor - the screeching was so cute.
villains were meh. barely there. that green haired twink and his older brother. whatever.
odds and ends: they totally blew the budget within like the first five episodes. if you do watch this series make note of every time they go off model. after watching the final episode, immediately watch the first one again. be amazed....
conclusion: i can see why this anime has been left behind so to speak. i'm glad to have finally watched it though. but i doubt i'll ever rewatch it. maybe just the first five episodes or so? opening and ending themes are a bop tho.

working like a dawg with daddy. i think the bathroom looks okay. i think i just have to get used to it. i remember coming home from class to see the awful colors mama had picked out and being horrified. i don't really feel that way about it now. you know me and change.... i don't like it. i don't even really mind the harvest gold anymore, now that it's all back to white.
justin and i also finished watching madoka tonight. i actually think i liked the show even more this time around than when i first watched it in like 2012? i'm also just realizing i never made a final thoughts post on outlaw star. oops. maybe i'll try to do both still.

my day off, yippie! daddy had his lypoma taken off his rib this morning. mama brought him to the hospital for it. he said he felt fine (i think he was high) so in the afternoon we painted my bathroom back white. it's really bright, like a hospital or something. i hope i don't regret this. tomorrow we will put the light fixture and new makeup box in.

wahhh this week is spring break for the kids. so i've just been going home early, and i'm off tomorrow and friday. yippie!!
i've been playing ff7rebirth. it's not bad, but when i start thinking about so2r, i'm like 'was this necessary?' it could have been chibi polygon remake with some extra stuff, it didn't need to be 3 games. oh well.
tomorrow daddy get's that thing cut off his ribs. mama took off to take him to the hospital for it. today he should be picking up the white paint for my bathroom. so i guess i'll be painting and gaming for my 4 day weekend.

i finished watching the swordsmith village arc this morning. tonight dee, tessa, and i are going to the movies to see demon slayer. finished just in time B)
i've also convinced daddy to repaint my bathroom white again. yippie! he brought some paint samples home yesterday. i've narrowed it down to four shades of white. i've also been looking at bathroom counters, lighting, flooring, and you can even reglaze your tub and toilet to a different color. we just might be able to rid ourselves of the harvest gold which has plagued us since the 1970s!

today after work me and derek went to the movies to be cringe and watch ff7 advent children. it was corny - but i was born on the cob. so it's okay. when one winged angel started playing it was kind of hype tho i can't lie.
but none of the kiosks worked so i couldn't scan my e-ticket and no one was actually checking the tickets so whatever i guess. i kind of wanted one just to remember but i took a pic of the poster so i guess it's similar. o well
