general headcanons:
• cis, she/her, aroace lesbian,
• when she was younger her care-keepers used to take her to a lot of psychiatrists because they were afraid inyo might have had something from antisocial spectrum,
• she is descendant of siberian indigenous people (the nenets/insert other uralic nation here) that assimilated with russians (so that's where her last name came from) and then they moved to tokio. so inyo is third-generation immigrant (this term sounds so american but i couldn't find better words to describe this),
• inyo just like tiger and miko was growing up in the orphanage but she haven't had anybody to help her with a second language so she learned russian all by herself,
• of course she also knows english, so it means that she knows 3 completely different alphabets,
• when she is stressed out, she starts quoting shakespeare in her head (this is hamlet most of the time, but also macbeth),
• her favourite movie is audition [1999],
• silver >>>>>>>>>>>>> gold,
• even though she doesn't seem to be that type of person, she is maximalist, she needs to have everything under her hand,
• also she is interested in fashion history,
• she has ocd 😄😄,
• she has obsessions related to taboo topics,
• one of her compulsions is opening and folding the umbrella and counting sounds of footsteps under her breath,
• i think she also has social anxiety,
• bcs of the mix of her ocd and anxiety she sometimes has panic attacks (especially when sexual intrusive thoughts pop out in her head),
• she is picky eater and hates fastfood,
• she only drinks real-real coffee. she doesn't like cafes like starbucks, costa etc.
throughts the series (og tv show, rewriting):
• (season 6, hot property episode) she is presented as this mysterious female coach that meets with suspicions from others,
• so, before cognito played against strikas both of the teams met and inyo talked to shakes, convincing him to look up for a new house and gave him a penelope's bussines card (she rented an apartment from her for the duration of her stay in south africa),
• yeah, inyo and penelope are two different people, but hold on,
• the next day, she and shakes met accidentally at penelope's office, so while inyo was there bcs of a "payment problems", shakes wanted to talk about penelope's house offers,
• when penelope and shakes left for a few minutes, inyo copied from penelope's phone other clients numbers (including shakes) so she could impersonate as one of the employees of penelope's company (or penelope herself) and mess up with shakes,
• after some time, inyo dressed up as the notary arrived at shakes's new house and started installing small cameras,
• she didn't even used it to spy on him, she just informed penelope about damage shakes and spenz were doing and what was caught on the cameras, so penelope terminated the contract with our beloved male mary sue,
• oh and cognito won in this episode.
• (between season 6 and 7) inyo would be more of a minor but still important character here. i think she would just ghost everyone in this series. also bcs of the fact that we all loved the idea of helena being part of iron tank team, inyo and helena have the longest screentime together, next to the interactions between inyo tiger and miko,
• (season 7, mind over matador) very similiar situation to what happened to shakes in previous season, but this time inyo impersonate doctor carmen (who is also a completely different person and not inyo's alter ego), so when the real doctor carmen is not around, inyo undercover is fucking up with el matador's head,
• aileen was the only one that had odd feelings about this, bcs doctor carmen she knew was never much of a hugger.
relationship with:
• helena: open interpretation tbh, they can be queerplatonic but also queer in general. helena probably was the one who get attached first. they are like moon and sun, winter and summer. and bcs they are around the same age and one of the few women in super league they were forced to cooperate. but inyo trusts helena more than anyone, even tho she would never admitted it
ofc they are like crack version of romeo&juliet and whenever inyo visits helena colonel looks at her like: 😤🙄😀
• altivo: tbh altivo is inyo's rival but also internalized crush and it would be so obvious for everyone and they would look at inyo like: i know what you are👁👁, whenever inyo would plot something against her,
• others: ?????
fashion headcanons:
• she doesn't buy anything from fast fashion stores, she wears tailor-made clothes,
• has thing for gloves,
• a lot of lace decorations,
• corsets!!!!
music headcanons:
• the biggest classical music enjoyer you ever know,
• r&b.

With not much time left to persuade ANY indep/undecided voter and both factions bombarding swing states with ads and events, i can only wonder as a european in what kind of fantasy lala-lands/bubbles the greatest democracy on earth has plunged itself into. On one side you have (and this is all puzzled together according to recent interviews on mainstream media like CNN) a way too strong focus on women issues/female rights with maybe too much celeb performances and too few Harris policy-plan infos. It's one thing to use the catastrophic RvW bs that Trump is responsible for in a targeted form to give women hope but how much does an extreme focus help when data shows/would later show that it also drew away male voters bc they couldn't connect with this 1-topic campaign. On the other you have a strong focus on the so called hyper-masculine (mostly white but recently also black) male voters, religious bigots of a specific kind of christian worldview and of course anti-liberalism nutjobs who think that the country is under the control of jewish space reptiles.
What a fierce combination. Oh how much the small Green party must hate all of this. How many moderates, middle-ground average Joe americans must hate all of this. But the soup is totally overcooked after 8 years, after the Rep party decided behind closed doors to go full force extremist language, extreme prejudice and extreme ways of scheming (including collusion with russian assets) to get Trump into power and keep him there. Bc that's better than losing to social progress and other factors in the world that can't be pushed aside with a classic conservative slogan.
I could write more but neither would it change the head-to-head race til Nov 5th, nor would it matter to BOTH factions. The Dems are in trouble bc they stopped or seem to have shifted focus away from the most average of american(s) and their daily struggles while absurdly trying to make life better for all?! And the Reps sold their little bit of empty brains to the fastfood-fascism in golden TRUMP letters. It was clear that they could win (except the popular vote.....) some races and maintain power in an increasingly divided nation. But they did not foresee or what's the word that the single most egoistic pseudo- politician in american history would throw all of them AND the country's fundamental principles under the bus as long as it gets him a profit, or a free pass from rotting in jail for that horrifying insurrection attempt.
My closing thoughts are about a random average Joe who is a black union car worker in some rustbelt region whatever, who openly admitted to CNN interview that his entire family asked him to not vote for Trump. His reaction should be a warning for all sane americans. He shrugged it off, he said he just wants to provide for his family and that Trump can't literally be as bad as it seems. The Dems can flood his inbox with 100 emails, but a person must have a a basic moral compass and basic intellectual capabilities. This man clearly never read a newspaper with a good investig. report about Trump. This man doesnt care much about the bodily autonomy of his daughter... and so on. Some things can't be changed within one political campaign. You can't win back some complete idiots (despite B. Obama giving a stark message to fellow american black men after recent allegations that sexism prevents them from voting for Harris). My point with this example is: The Dems can't waste time with niche-groups of complete idiots (whether male or female), but must focus every bit of campaign energy on halfway educated middle-class people in the suburbs.
*STOP TRUMP* = *STOP RUSSIA'S ATTEMPT TO DESTABILIZE THE U.S. WITH THEIR ORANGE PUPPET*

West Quebec: 4 national parks north of Montreal & Quebec City
When I had checked in at national park Hautes Gorges, they already told me that most of the park including the river activities and most hiking trails were closed due to the high rain fall a few days earlier, but when I woke up the forest fire smoke had moved in as well; double whammy of climate change impacting my travel! 🥺
On top of it I felt crap from a cold that I had developed the day before (am thinking I got the virus on one of the boat tours when everybody was on top of each other to take pictures) so I took it extra slow in the morning, already cooking the rice for the evening meal (staving off a brazen chipmunk who kept jumping on the table) and even doing an old-fashioned steam session with vix under a towel to loosen it all up. 😂
From the visitor centre, I did end up doing a 8.4k hike, first up to a boring lake (undoubtedly made more unattractive by the smog) which was higher than I thought so was struggling to breathe in between my coughs and sneezes, and then along the river which was indeed raging; it would have been impossible to SUP let alone swim in the water! I then took the shuttle bus to a little dam where the water flow continued to be impressive so had some snacks at a picknick table while doing a crossword. Not feeling great at all, I skipped dinner & went straight into the tent at 6pm... not the best of days! 🤧
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was good that I had gone to bed so early as it meant that I had a few hours of sleep before a thunderstorm rolled in. I always find it a bit scary to stay in the tent but not sure the car is much better... the tent and I survived 🙃 but it meant that once more everything was damp/wet/soaked when packing up, truly the main downside of camping!
On my way to the next campground, I spent the day at Grands-Jardins national park, which was also impacted by the floods but luckily the "jewel" hike up Mont du Lac des Cygnes was open. At 8.6k and 500m elevation gain, the hike was not the easiest but my sneezing had already been much reduced (although I'm still coughing a week later) so I felt reasonably well. After the first viewpoint at a pretty lake (confusingly not the Cygnes 😜) the last km was a scramble up rocks and staircases, but then an incredible view opened up of the surrounding hills and valleys, all part of another massive astrobleme (this time the 11th largest of the world) when a meteorite hit the earth a long time ago. Beautiful! 🤩
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Driving at the end of the afternoon towards Québec City, the rolling hills which were very pretty to drive through all the way from Baie-Comeau, made way for the flat plains around the river while in the distance the city contours with its chateau became visible... before I reached the "capital nationale" 😄 however, I veered north to a private campground close to park Jacques-Cartier. Generally, I prefer to stay in park campgrounds rather than in private ones, as they're more natural, cheaper and have better showers 😅, but this one was actually really good; it had a lot of space, amenities such as a fastfood truck, mini golf and a (now not so lazy) river where people floated on inflatables, and most importantly, a truly quiet nighttime!
Again, most of the park was closed as a result of flooding, so I did a lovely 4k hike around a cascading river (am feeling much better now!), and then felt incredibly lazy so hung the rest of the day at the visitor centre talking to my parents, writing the blog and putting my feet up! 😊😊I did start another small hike on the way back but aborted after 10 minutes, simply not feeling it 😝. In the evening, I had two trip firsts; I used a standalone rack to cook over the fire (private campgrounds don't provide a grill where park ones do), and I finally made my first s'more, with a kitkat as the camp store didn't have any real chocolate 😅. Very satisfying!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rain had been forecast for the next day however it was still dry when I woke up, so I swiftly cleaned up camp and did a 6.6k hike up a mountain. The view was not as great as I had thought it would be, but not complaining though, always a 100x better than a computer screen! 😉 The rain did start when I got to the top and quickly turned into a downpour, so had to do a complete change of clothes on my return at the visitor centre 😂... once I'm fully soaked I don't mind the wetness anymore, as long as I know I can dry & warm up at the end of it!
Tumblr media
Not being in a particular rush to get to my next campsite in the pouring rain, I spent a few hours in Quebec's largest mall, the Galeries de la Capitale, buying some things and having chinese at the foodcourt! 👌 I'm not a big fan of malls, but this one was quite impressive with an indoor skating rink, a ferris wheel, rollercoaster and carrousel - although you can imagine the noise was ear deafening and a bit of a shock to the system after camping.
When I got to La Mauricie national park, the sun had come out again so spent a leisurely evening at the campfire, more my cup of tea than the busy mall! The next day started humid and cloudy, so I forewent another steep uphill hike for a series of shorter ones along the 50km park way. Driving from one end of the park to the other side, there's little hikes at lakes, bogs, viewpoints that are all equally pretty and don't require much effort, so perfect to drink my cup of tea while taking in the scenery! At the west end, people were swimming in the rapids, but instead I took a refreshing dip in the lake & then chilled on the beach for a while.
I won't post too many pictures of my campfires, but this one I was particularly proud of as it had been a struggle in the last days to get it going due to the wood being wet... very frustrating when the fire keeps fizzling out but now I heaped so much kindling on it that the strong heat dried up the logs quickly.
After 6 days of camping, I'm ready to get back to town and check into a hotel in Montreal and then off to northwest Ontario!

Wildlife: 1 porcupine (Hautes Gorges), 1 heron, tens of tiny frogs, 1 turkey & 1 deer (La Mauricie)
SUPs: none

大家好! Hummus is a Middle Eastern dish that I tried before the covid pandemic. It was yummy but remained an afterthought before Israel's genocide in Gaza began. As I learnt more about Palestinians' and Lebanese's struggle for their sovereignty, 1 way to show support for them is to embrace their food because food bonds all of us. For my second breakfast after exercise, I cut up some celery, added 2 ajitsuke tamago for protein and nutrients and included a potato bun for carbohydrates, along with hummus as a dip and spread. Hummus is ridiculously delicious with the pillowy bun. This meal kept me so full that I skipped lunch and only felt a little hungry at dinnertime.

Grandma's birthday falls in December. Auntie, Pa and I remembered her over a sumptuous lunch at a Hokkien restaurant Grandpa used to bring us to when he was with us. Over hearty fish maw soup (super rich in collagen), crispy hae cho (prawn rolls), spring rolls, ngor hiang (pork rolls), as well as steamed pomfret and braised Hokkien mee, we kept their memories alive. Their steamed pomfret was as fresh as when Mummy and I visited in November to remember Grandpa during his birthday month. The fish maw soup was also ridiculously good. It was a feast to remember; I look forward to returning next year!

ML, MI and I returned to the stall which serves excellent ban mian (board noodles). I chose you mian (thin board noodles) with fish. After a few months of not eating this, I was reacquainted with what made me love it. Generous portions of fresh, tender fish, sweet and crunchy Napa cabbage as well as QQ slurpable noodles for $5.50? Yes please! The last time I stepped into a fastfood restaurant was 4 July 2023; it's been over 17 months now. Even with their $5 deals, I'm not tempted to return because I can get nutritious, moderately healthy meals that are lower in saturated fat that cost just a little more than fastfood promos. This was so delicious!

For Christmas lunch, the whole company was treated to a hotel buffet. They chartered a bus to ferry us to the venue and back. I seized the opportunity to load up on my favourite foods - seafood and vegetables! The pork rib soup with black beans and peanuts was especially good; most of us had at least 1 bowl of it. For dessert, I was delighted to see they served green apples and grabbed 1. Since I don't have a sweet tooth, fruit that isn't too sweet is extremely welcome. All that fibre kept me full till past dinner time. I had a light evening meal comprising a potato bun with coriander hummus, carrot sticks and tau kwa (firm tofu) to avoid bloating.

This Christmas period has been a strange one. For the first time since I moved into my home, none of my neighbours are playing Christmas carols and no festive lights adorn their condo units. Perhaps, like me, they're not in the mood to celebrate the occasion together with people who support the genocide in Gaza. It's X'mas eve today; the office has granted everyone the afternoon off. I'll spend it running errands and having an early night. There's nothing festive about Christmas when so many Palestinians are still dying, there's nothing to celebrate. 下次见!

Blog Post #4
In high school I went on a group trip to Costa Rica. This was my first time leaving North America and first time visiting Central America. I was expecting lots of cultural and environmental differences in terms of language, food and climate, all which I experienced. But it stuck out to me when visiting the mall how westernized everything seemed. There were all of the Fastfood chains in the food court and shopping stores that I had back home. I understand now that this is largely because cultures have been changing and becoming increasingly interconnected. I saw firsthand the process of cultural evolution in the form of large companies expanding and globalizing their business, being in different continents. Seeing these restaurants in a Costa Rica mall displayed how global culture can transcend national borders and this increase in interconnectivity allows idea to emerge from one culture and have influence on other people and other cultures. I also notice this in terms of pop culture. On streaming services like Netflix, there has been lots of populairty and lots of new shows/movies that are in different languages. Lots of these being in Spanish. While there has always been different languages with movies available, I have noticed in the past few years how people in Canadian culture have been watching and enjoying these movies as well, with the help of subtitles. This shows the interconnecting of cultures due to technological innovations.

Buff Burger review
I took a picture, but the burger didn't look too great and I didn't want to unfairly prejudice.
But I won't be returning to Buff Burger, which currently has just one location on the west side of the Katy Freeway.
I've recently eaten both the standard and their Texan (but I added the free option of arugula to the Texan, which was a very good decision).
First complaint: it's great that you let me choose how my burger will be cooked. But medium rare doesn't mean medium well on the outside and barely rare in the middle.
Second complaint: there's just too much bread. I believe it's Gary Leff who popularized the idea that a hamburger bun is merely a BurgerDeliveryMechanism™️, but I'm with him. This bread is too much. You can even see that bread is too bread-y on their order page. This is the Texan below:
Tumblr media
When I can't really taste the beef quite as well, I just don't feel like it's a burger anymore. Which makes me assume that they're using lower quality cuts...because if they aren't, it's a real waste.
Third complaint: the predominant taste in multiples bites of the Texan was their pickle. It was a good pickle! But pickle is not really what I'm looking for in a burger. This was also somewhat true for their standard burger, but somehow I felt like much of the taste spectrum was taken up by the red onion and pickle to the point it seemed like a relish.
Final complaint: they only have 4 burgers (arguably they only have 3 burgers, as one of the 4 is their regular burger but smashburger style), and then some chicken sandwiches. The remaining burger is mushroom and swiss.*
This is not to say the burger was awful. It wasn't. It's just that for $10 (or $13 for the Texan) you can get a much better burger here. This ain't New York or SF -- Whataburger is our national fastfood chain and it serves a very high quality burger for about half the price.
Mostly I wrote this review because as I was eating the burger, I realized that I had ordered the same burger ~4 years ago and because the burger was not memorable, I had forgotten that I had ever tried this place.
-* I went to high school downwind of a mushroom farm, so I tend to avoid mushrooms. This is the polite way of putting it.

Brian x reader// drabble
/////
“C’mon babe this is ridiculous” Brian murmured as you swiped the black liner on his water line, “I’m surprised you haven’t done this before, you look Iike the type,” you laughed “okay other eye.”
He groaned, glancing at you then back up so you don’t accidentally poke his eye out. His hands were sitting on your waist idly moving up and down while he let you work.
Being so close to Brian let you analyze his face, the slope of his nose, his lightly pink dusted cheeks, how his lip twitched ever so slightly when you brushed you thumb against it. His eye bags had gotten more prominent over the past few weeks, it saddened you a little bit knowing he was losing sleep over his job.
“Am I smoking hot now?” He joked, as you pulled away, “Well you already were you’re just extra hot now.” You flashed a smile and lent down to give him a kiss. “Okay let me grab a mirror” you whispered pulling away moving to get off his lap but he stopped you. “Aww…I only get one?” He whined, “I think I deserve more for letting you put this shit on my face” he whispered, hands on your waist gripping you tighter pulling you over. Your noses touched before your were lips connected once more. Brian’s tongue traced along your lips, causing you to groan and nip his as a warning.
Pulling away you winked before finally getting up. Grabbing a handheld mirror from his desk and sauntering back over to show him your work.

2:30 am (Suna x Reader)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Part 1
Its been two weeks since you left the apartment, you were thankful that it was the spring break and you were able to spend it in your home
But it did feel significantly lonelier
You haven't opened your devices and social medias for two weeks, you were practically detached from what was happening outside the comfort of your childhood neighbourhood
The past two weeks were spent nicely, cooking with your mother, playing with the cats and dogs, catching up with high school friends (you even went out with Yachi three times), random market trips and hikes
But with all of that you can't help but be reminded of Suna in whatever you do, it all seems like yesterday you were the club manager for Karasuno High School
The nationals was where it all started, getting lost in a huge gymnasium was a very "you" thing to do
So what do you do when you're lost? You ask people, it just so happens that the person you asked was your next opponent (you mentally slapped yourself for that one)
A tall foxy guy wearing his headphones and just chilling in the bench to calm his nerves before the match and living his peaceful life and you decided to crash it with your angelic smile, your gentle voice and exquisite features
You had no business being this breath-taking
He was a stuttering mess when you asked him which way was the arena
"I-i'm on my w-way there do you wanna come with m-me?"
Suna was a very calm and composed person it was never in him to stutter over a girl but then there you were proving him wrong, he didn't even notice the huge "Karasuno" at the back of your jacket
You nodded at him and so you made your way
You didn't really think about it during the match, although you were surprised the foxy guy was your oponent
After the game, which you won by the way, you didn't expect him to come up to you and ask for your name and number, you were foolishly naive back in the day, so you gave him yours despite being a total stranger
Soon it progressed to constantly texting and calling each other late in the night, him confessing to you over the phone which you gladly accepted, him visiting your hometown and the other way around, he went into college while you were still in your third year of high school, random visits to his campus until you eventually moved in when you went to the same university, cheering him in his games with EJP up until he made it to the national team
From spontaneous lunch dates, brushing each other's teeth, two am fastfood run, three am drives to the beach, four am mental breakdowns, five am cuddles and six am coffees
He was all you could think of
"Suna I need to go" he was hugging your waist tightly like he don't ever wanna let go
He looks up at you, eyes beady with unshed tears "you're coming back right?" he says in a hushed tone almost pleading
You kissed him on the forehead "yes, i'm coming back"
And you meant it, you knew that you can't afford to lose him, you knew you wanted to spend the rest of your days with him, you knew that you could fix this relationship
and sometimes, a break is what really all you needed
You got up from your bed, and decided you wanted to go to the convenience store nearby to get yourself a very late midnight snack
The sky was pitch black, decorated with dots of white that were the stars, the moon shines brightly and you were glad you went out to witness this
The sound of crickets and insects were comforting accompanying you to the nearby convenience store
You made your way to the aisle and got yourself some chips and ice cream which you quickly paid for
Going out you heard a familiar tune of Arctic Monkeys, an image of Suna flashes in your head
You whipped your head to the direction where the tune was coming from and lo and behold, a disheveled Suna in his black hoodie and grey sweats
He didn't seem to notice you as he was immersed in the music of his headphones which was very loud you can vividly hear it
You slowly made your way towards him, your heart pounding like it was about to break your ribs, god you missed him so bad
You lightly tapped him in his shoulder, looking up he saw you and his eyes widen
Before you can even speak, his lips crashed against yours, his calloused hand cupping your cheeks as the other one held the back of your head pushing your face impossibly closer to his, your knees wobbled, chips and ice cream on the ground
The moon witnessed how you longed for each other, your tounges danced in perfect harmony, teeth clashing from time to time, and the hums and low growls emitted from the both of you
You pulled back feeling breathless as he pulls you in a bone-crushing hug
"god I missed you so much babe I was going crazy" he says in a breathy voice
He sneaks his face at the crook of your neck, his hot breath fanning that area
"Rin how long have you been here?" you asked as you hugged him back
"three days" he answers still not letting you go
"what about practice?"
"fuck practice I was missing my girl" he says and hugs you tighter
You stayed like that for a few minutes before he pulled back, he wasn't able to look you in the eye
"hey um I'm sorry, I have no excuse in forgetting your birthday, and I was so busy because of the move that I took it out all on you"
You looked at him confused
"move?" you asked, his eyes widen and he scratched the back of his neck
"this was supposed to be a surprise, but I already signed the lease to our own house, I uhmmm you told me about the house you found pretty and-"
"Rin that was an expensive house" you told him a worried tone in your voice
"I know, but I worked hard for it, I train six days a week and spend lot of time away from you for it, just let me okay?" he says in a gentle tone
You bit your lip, feeling relieved that he was not spending his time with the chick from the women volleyball team but mostly feeling touched that he would go to this extent to give you a comfortable life
Yout thoughts were cut off when he cleared his throat
"that night, I went out to have drinks, I was celebrating with the team because I finally got you this"
He reached down for his pocket and took out a velvet box, he opened it and it revealed the prettiest ring you've seen in your entire life, a golden ring adorned with a grogeous diamond
"You will spend the rest of your life with me, and I won't take no for an answer"
You chuckled at his antics, tears freely escaping your eyes
"I wouldn't have it any other way love" you said as he slips the ring into your finger, pulling you into a hug and kissing your temple
Suna looks at the digital clock outside the convenience store, 2:30 am wasn't an ideal time to propose, but with you, he would do it any time of the day.
Yaaaayy I'm finally done with the part 2, I hope y'all liked it💖

Turkey is the number one among tea drinking countries, even the well-known tea nation UK is beaten by them! xD
Well it makes sense if you know how Turks drink tea 😳 Imagine sitting together with family/friends while drinking tea in small fancy glasses
You will start with your first glass and ask them how they are, then you will ask for another glass while you talk about something different, then with the next topic another glass of tea follows ... And this will continue so long until you realize that you and your friend/family member finished the whole pot xD ... Boy, it can be really addicting if you drink your tea like this, even if you are a coffee junkie like me!
I found this comic on insta uploaded by @cizgimsifilm

UK: Turkey you should stop now!
Turkey: I didn't drink any tea yet!
(I love this badass expression of Turkey sm xD)
Here I have some nice maps/statistics for you as well that are interesting to see ^^
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh I have something to add!
Last time I heard that the younger generations prefer coffee more than tea, maybe the statistics could change in a few years
Coffee is more "trendy" among young people and sadly not everyone has the time to drink tea "like a Turk"
Here is another statistic, that will tell you in which jobs and ages are the most coffee drinkers

Sadly the "fastfood-culture" is getting more popular too :/ some young Turks don't know how to cook properly (or even struggle to clean the house), because some traditional Turkish dishes take a lot of time and not everyone has the time to cook them
Sorry if I may sound like an old person, but I really love cooking and I am someone who appreciate home made food more then fast food ... The Turkish cuisine has much more than just Baklava and Kebap, and it is sad to see that it is still so underrated even if it has a great diversity

大家好! It's been a long time since I've had cai fan (mixed dishes and rice) so I told the makan kakis (dining companions) to go ahead and have lunch without me whilst I eagerly made my way to the stall I used to frequent. That day, they served steamed fish, stirfried jik kua (hairy gourd) and scrambled eggs with onions. These are some of my favourite dishes, so I ordered them. All this nutritious goodness for $4.50? Yes please! Healthier than fastfood chains' $5 promotional deals, not only is our hawker fare better for us, it's delicious! I'll eat this over burgers and pizzas any day.

I used to shun lentils and legumes like I shun baked beans; I don't like their starchy textures. When I started having weekly simple breakfasts following Israel's genocidal war in Gaza, some of them were mini ready to eat meals of tuna and legumes, lentils, veggies and grains. What I found was, these food groups can be palatable if eaten with other proteins and vegetables. As I learn more about Palestinians' way of life in the midst of this genocide, including what they eat, my perception of lentils and legumes is changing. They're a means of sustenance for Palestinians at a time when food is very scarce. It doesn't feel right to thumb my nose at what they eat in order to survive. I decided to find ways to consume more lentils and legumes as a show of friendship to Palestinians.

Enter chickpea lei cha (ground tea rice). Years before healthy grain bowls were a thing, local lei cha stalls were serving up fibre-rich bowls of vegetables, tofu and peanuts on rice. They've since expanded their menu; customers can opt for chickpeas instead of brown rice. Chickpeas contain starch as well as protein and fibre, thus, they're a good substitute for refined carbs. To make a quick similar version of lei cha at home, mix together canned chickpeas, canned green beans, canned carrots, ready to eat sweet corn kernels, braised or roasted peanuts and tau kwa (firm tofu), then add seasoning of your choice. This resembles lei cha without the yucky soup. It's a very budget-friendly way to eat healthy at home. There's no cooking involved except for microwaving the tau kwa to warm it up.

Mummy and I decided to visit LeNu, a popular noodle house chain with several restaurants scattered across our country. There're several pork, chicken and fish noodles, with pork bone or tomato broth or dry and customers can have la mian (handpulled noodles), kway teow (flat rice noodles) or thick bee hoon (vermicelli). We decided to try their xue cai yu liu wei mian (fish and preserved vegetable simmered noodles) and shared sides of tree ear mushrooms in garlic as well as cold tofu with century egg and bonito flakes. Our kway teow came bathed in a robust, flavourful broth, topped with thick and tender slices of fish. It was so delicious that I'm bringing Pa to try it.

It's Friday in this region; time flies! The year end is very busy for many industries. We're not spared from the hectic pace and I'm starting to feel a little tired. Never mind, I brought forward some leave which I'll utilise in the first half of 2025 to catch up with friends or rest. There're some dear friends I don't get to meet very often due to conflicting schedules. I hope to catch up with them come January to March. I've also worked out what my New Year's resolution is and I'll share about it next month. For now, I'll plod on and look forward to when this frenetic pace is over. 下次见!

“maybe next time” | m. atsumu × filo!reader
details: 300+ words (haven’t checked yet) | fluff, museum date with atsumu
note: the previous ficlet left a bad taste in my mouth. ah~ allow me to redeem myself. enjoy!
Tumblr media
After almost a week of spending your days with your family and relatives, you’ve finally managed to spend your time alone with your boyfriend, Atsumu.
He looked outside the e-jeep with awe asthe vehicle approached the enormous building of National Museum of Anthropology. “Let’s go,” you told him as you interlocked your hands together.
You were shaking in excitement as soon as you step out of the e-jeep. It’s been awhile since you’ve been there.
The last time you’ve been there, the pieces displayed inside varied from a nipa hut that’s based on the houses in the northern part of the country to the manunggul jar found in a cave in Palawan. There were also bul-uls from the mountain province, and an entire room that showcased the transition of the philippine writing system from the pre-colonial era until present time.
You were unsure if it’s still the same, but if it is? Then, you’re confident that you’d be able to share your knowledge about your culture with the man you love.
“Wow.” Atsumu was amazed while looking at the artifacts that were retrieved from a sunken ship found in Manila Bay. “Are these genuime artifacts?”
“I think so,” you said as you appreciate the broken pieces of chinawares that came from the shipwreck. “These are century old artifacts and it’s amazing how they’ve managed to maintain its beauty after all these years. Well, at least those pieces that weren’t shattered to pieces.”
“They’re not a pirate ship, right?” he asked.
“Nope. They’re reinforcements for—” and you began answering his questions about the pieces that catches his eyes.
After visiting the three separate museums, you found yourself inside a famous fastfood chain with Atsumu sitting across you.
“You know, every pieces in that place is precious.” You nodded your head in agreement. “Just like you.”
You frowned. “I don’t want to be displayed in the museum of natural history, thanks.”
“That’s not what I meant,” he retorted making you laugh. “I’m trying to be romantic here.”
You pursed your lips before cupping his face in your hands. “I know,” you responded while brushing your thumb against his jaw. “Thank you for choosing those places for today.”
He shook his head. “You don’t have to thank me, Y/N,” he said. “I’d love to know more about you and your culture. Just like how you learned about mine before.”
You covered your face with your hands in embarrassment. Then, you took a deep breath in hopes to regain your composure. “Would you like to know more about my roots?” you asked.
Atsumu raised his eyebrows before squinting his eyes.
“We could visit my relatives—”
“Gah.” You were giggling while watching his reaction. “Y-Y/N, maybe next time.”

posting late but whatever: media rec of the day is the podcast episode titled 'A Discussion on BTS, Capitalism, & McDonalds' on TheKpopcast which featured a.o. my fav podcaster duo 'Girlz With Fun', and other ARMY such as Amr, who is involved in the labour rights movement.
it's a reupload of a livestream, of course initiated after the announced mcdonald's BTS menu sparked a lot of heated discussions and was tied in relation to a national strike in macdonalds in the US on May 19th 2021, a week before the menu is available (today, May 26th).
guests had rly interesting discussions about BTS, the #FightFor15 cause, brands, labour of fans, streaming, merch, community-building outside of capitalist terms, ethics, relevancy of ethics discourse, and so on.
i also appreciated to hear Kalea's (GWF member) thoughts, considering she used to be a fastfood worker herself. it was rly refreshing to listen to so pls check it out! they also have the video version on youtube.

Letzte Ferienwoche
Am Montag, dem 23. August beginnt meine letzte Ferienwoche.
Donnerstag war Orientation Day an meiner High School.
Samstag war Shopping Day.
