It’s half past midnight as you hug your best friend goodbye. Her boyfriend had broken up with her, so you made the hour drive into the countryside to see her, but you work tomorrow so you aren’t able to stay the night.
“Are you sure you can’t stay?” Laura, your friend, asks. “It looks like it’s about to snow.” She looks to the sky with her sage green eyes, cheeks stained red from crying, but she still looks so beautiful.
“I can’t miss any more days of work, or else I would. I’ll drive safe, promise.” You hold your pinky finger out for her to wrap hers around.
“Call me once you get home, please.”
“I will.” You wave to her over your shoulder as you walk to your car. When you look up, you can see bright gray clouds and the full moon illuminating the night sky. You unlock your car and get inside, turning up the heater all the way.
The radio turns on, Air Supply- “Making Love Out of Nothing at All”, blares from the speakers. Singing out with all your heart along with the radio as you turn your headlights on and set off back home.
The main road you take has no street lights to illuminate the path; only the light from your headlights and the moon to guide your way. When you look on either side of you, all you can see is dense woods with the occasional farm land.
Fluffy chunks of snow fall from the sky as the road ahead of you quickly gets covered. You turn on your windshield wipers at the highest setting. The snow makes the drive seem more surreal. As you have stepped into a Disney movie. It’s relaxing, to say the least.
Out of the corner of your eye, you can swear you see something big. You twist your head, trying not to look away from the snowy road for too long. Yet, you see nothing. You chalk it up to you being tired and seeing things. This area has no wolves, at least not anymore. They were all hunted into extinction or pushed out.
The drive only gets harder as the snow falls faster than what your windshield wipers can clear away. The visibility becomes so poor you can only see a few feet in front of you. Feeling your heartbeat pick up from anxiety, you slow your speed to 15 under the speed limit. You’d rather be safe than sorry.

König deployed to middle America twenty-seven days ago. It was supposed to be a quick in-and-out extraction that went sideways. Two weeks turned into four. Panic set in as he realized he will change away from his restraints.
Day twenty-eight, he looked at his men with hungry eyes. Their fear of him becoming easier to smell and he knew he had to get away from them for their safety.
“I’m going to patrol. Make sure no one follows us.” He lies.
The sky beginning to turn a pinkish orange hue as he drops his weapons and runs. His heart pounding in his chest, dirt kicking up beneath his feet, he tries to get as far away from them as he can.
Looking up, the sky turns a dark blue as the sun is almost completely set. After what feels like an eternity of running, he finds an abandoned run-down farm. He makes his way inside the barn to make sure he is alone.
Once inside König quickly pulls his helmet off of his head followed by his mask. He drops to his knees taking in deep breaths. He can feel his body temperature beginning to rise rapidly and his senses begin to heighten. His pupils enlarge, turning his icy blue eyes black as he begins to pant. Pain consumes his body as he begins to change, his hands grabbing at his shirt and pulling the rest of his clothes from his body with haste.
“Argh!” König’s scream comes out deep, inhuman. His body begins to contort as he drops to the floor in agony.
His fingertips now sharp claws, black and grayish fur cover his body. Standing up from the floor, fully transformed, he takes in a deep breath before letting out a loud howl. He now stands 9ft tall. Taking a moment to adjust to everything he can’t stop sniffing the air. There is a scent, one that he has never smelled before. He follows it outside of the barn. Stepping into the moonlight, he begins to run on all fours in the direction it’s coming from.
König is blinded by his pure primal drive as he runs with one objective. He stops by a roadside and looks up to see a small ranch style home with two cars parked outside. A woman with her back turned to him hugging a taller blonde. It wasn’t the blonde he was here for; it was you. He was smelling you.
His eyes follow you as you walk to your car. It was too risky to run out and grab you now. When the headlights turn on his eyes; he squints, retreating back into the tree line. König stands on two feet and sniffs the air, letting out a deep sigh before dropping back down on all fours. He begins to follow you.
.
.
You lean forward as you drive to try and see the road better. Driving was becoming dangerous, but you’re still 45 minutes away from home. Out of the corner of your eye you see the dark shadow again. It’s almost as if it’s something chasing the car, but you chalk it up to just the shadows mixing with the heavy downfall of snow.
The car’s tires begin to struggle to grip the road as it quickly becomes slippery from the heavy layer of snow. You lift your foot from the gas to let yourself slow down more.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck.” You whisper to yourself as you feel your heart beating in your ears. You absolutely hate driving in the snow, especially when you’re so far away from home. Had you known it would snow, you would have had Laura come stay with you.
Just as you did breathing exercises to calm yourself, something huge darts in front of your car. You slam on your brakes and turn the steering wheel. A panicked scream leaves your mouth as your car drifts out of control. Within the blink of an eye, your car slams into a guardrail that stops you from falling into a ravine. Your head hits the steering wheel and you fall to the side slightly, making the music blast. The song “Every Breath You Take” by the Police fills the car.
“Shit.” You sit up and rub your head, feeling warm blood on your fingers.
Reaching over, you turn your rearview mirror towards you to check yourself. The low light makes it hard, but you only see a cut across your forehead. Letting out a deep sigh, you look at the car through the windshield. It’s smoking, but the battery is still running, so you try to get the car to start back up. Nothing. You’re stranded.
Stepping out of the car, you’re hit by the harsh cold and the snow on your face. It’s absolutely miserable outside. You remember the last roadside sign said there was a rest stop about two miles ahead, you could definitely call for help there.
You go into your car’s trunk and pull out the flashlight you had back there in case of emergencies; much like the ones you’re in now. The snow crunched beneath each of your footsteps as you made your trek to the rest stop. If there is one thing you can be thankful for, it’s the fact you wore your winter boots today.
“Just my luck…” you whisper to yourself, your breath visible as you speak. The wind whistles all around you as you hug yourself with one arm and continue holding the flashlight up with the other. The night is eerily quiet, not one other car on the road.
You continue ahead and stay to the side near the tree line just in case a car came. You can’t shake the feeling of being watched, as if you’re being followed. In your head, you tell yourself that it must be just all of the anxiety. No one else is actually out here.
That is until you hear a branch snap. You freeze for a second, holding your breath, trying to listen. All you can hear is the sound of the wind whistling around you and your heartbeat in your ears. Just an animal… You think, but then you scare yourself trying to think about what size animal that was.
With nothing you can do, you decide to just push forward and keep walking. Each step you take with haste, as you feel the fear of being watched, might be valid. You try to not freak out and waste all of your energy running, so in your mind, you try to calm yourself.
Maybe it was only a deer. Deer are heavy and live here. Could have also just been a branch falling down…
To relax more, you hum to yourself, just a random tune you made up in your head. You look up at the sky to gaze at the moon when you hear another branch snap. You twist in that direction and shine your light. That’s when you see the reflective glow of a pair of eyes inside the tree line.
The eyes quickly move away, your stomach dropping. Your mind goes back to the creature you saw while driving. You look around before continuing on. Your once hurried steps are more of a light jog. Your mind is torn between the primal urge to run and the human urge to remain calm.
Just a deer, just a deer, just a deer…
You hear another branch and you jump, turning again to shine the light on it again. The eyes appear once more, closer this time. You let out a shaky breath as you feel a wave of dread wash over you. Just then, you hear a low growl.
Not a deer, not a deer, not a deer!
Without a second thought, you turn and run, continuing down the road. Your mind goes a million miles a second as you try to process what animal it could be; maybe even a stray dog. Either way, you didn’t want to find out.
.
.
König watches you closely. Your smell is intoxicating. Consuming his mind, he can’t stop pursuing you. When you hear his heavy foot snap a stick, he freezes; he can hear your heartbeat race inside of your chest. The smell of fear growing stronger by the second.
You shine the light in his eyes, and he cowers away from the brightness of it. He lingers as you walk away again, getting some distance between the two of you so it would be easier to follow you without being seen.
He keeps his pace, listening to you hum a song to yourself. Acting as if you’re unaware that you’re being stalked when your elevated heart beat says otherwise. Then he does it again. This time you’re quick and flash the light on him instantly.
His urge to get close to you is uncontrollable. Your smell…what is it? He needs you, craves you. You are his. He lets out a deep growl, feeling his body tingle. You hear it and take off quickly. This is the moment, his time to pounce.
He picks up his pace until he is ahead of you. Once he is, he jumps out from the woods and walks in front of you. Standing up on two legs, he lifts his head and howls.
A deep, truly terrified scream escapes your lips as you watch a 9-foot-tall creature stand before you on two legs, howling as a wolf. Your flashlight illuminates the thick, dark fur covering its whole body. This was the creature you saw running beside your car, the one stepping on sticks, whose eyes you saw glowing…
You turn quickly and run back in the opposite direction, towards Laura’s house. In a panic, you drop your flashlight, your only possible weapon. There is no time to stop and pick it up, as you can hear the creature beginning to chase you.
“HELP!” you scream into the darkness, but there is no one around to hear you. “PLEASE!”
Adrenaline courses through your veins as your feet slip on the snow beneath you. You catch yourself and keep going. Looking over your shoulder, the creature is gone. What the fuck… You stop to look around, panting.
If it wasn’t for the claw marks in the snow, you’d think you were hallucinating. Laura's home is closer to you than the rest stop, so you continue running back in that direction. As the adrenaline wears off, tears fill your eyes, the rush of everything you just witnessed causing you to break down. You take a deep inhale before letting out a loud sob, your feet slowing. Allowing yourself to have a moment before collecting yourself.
You wipe your tears away, trying to steady your breath as you turn to look behind you. All you see are your own footprints now. The cold makes your nose leak as you wipe it away on your coat sleeve.
“What the fuck is going on?” You whisper to yourself as you sniffle.
You turn back around and freeze. Up the road you see a dark black shadow. Your heart rate spikes again. It doesn’t move, so you take small steps backwards. Unexpectedly, the creature walks away slowly back into the wooded area. Confused on which direction you should go; you just continue to go towards Laura. Clearly, no matter where you go, this thing can move faster. Everything around you is quiet; on high alert, your eyes dart around in every direction.
“Just keep walking. You’ll be at Laura’s in no time.” Your voice cracks, lacking confidence in your own words. It’s as if this thing was toying with you.
Your body shivers from the intense cold. In your mind you convince yourself that this will just be a funny story you tell her once you get there. She will make you hot chocolate and everything will be fine. You’ll be okay.
Just as you started to believe your own hype, your body hits the snow-covered road- hard. Your head hits the ground and your vision goes blurry for a split second. You can feel hands grabbing your ankles and dragging you back into the woods. In a panic you begin to grasp at the snow on the ground, trying to pull yourself away from it.
“Let me go!” You try to squirm, trying to make yourself difficult in hopes it will drop you.
The creature growls at you, refusing to drop you. It drags you through the cold snow, sticks hitting your face and scratching you. Finally, it drops your legs. You turn quickly and begin to scoot away on the floor.
This… this isn’t real. This can’t be real. You see a 9-foot-tall wolf looking humanoid. A werewolf? No, they aren’t real.
König takes a deep breath in, having you this close makes that sweet smell so much more intense. His eyes travel over your body. He needs to claim you. He steps closer as you begin to crawl backwards. A growl escapes his lips as he lunges forward, grasping your ankle tightly; screams going unheard.
His clawed hand comes up and rests on your chest, pressing you into the cold ground. Moving slowly, his cold wet nose touches your neck and you wince. His tongue coming out and kicking you.
His hands grasp your winter coat, ripping his sharp claws through it. A burst of cold hits you as you try to fight back. You hit him in the chest and on his face. He grasps both of your wrists with one hand and holds you down.
With your coat torn open, the sweet scent gets stronger. He is getting closer. In a frenzy he continues to tear off your clothing. Your small body wiggling didn’t slow him one bit. Covered in goosebumps from the cold you feel his nose trail down your body until he lands between your legs.
Nuzzling his snout between your legs he begins to take deep breaths, it’s what he’s been chasing. He’s finally found his mate. The aroma of your cunt begins to make his cock hard. His fat tongue presses against the fabric of your blue cotton panties.
“No!” You try to kick him again.
His blacked-out eyes snap up at you and snarls before looking back down. Grabbing the hem of your underwear with his teeth, he jerks his head to the side; tearing your underwear off. You have half of a shirt on, your bra torn down the center. You’re basically naked, the snow still falling heavily. Other than the extreme heat from the werewolf, you’re freezing.
Nuzzling his snout between your legs, he begins to lap at your cold cunt. His first taste made him close his eyes; he has never tasted anything as good as you before. Your back arches, hands still restrained above your head. Squeezing your legs around him you let out a tiny moan. He responds with a low growl. All he can think of is getting your scent all over him and his all over you.
His hands move to your hips and pull you toward him. His hands wrapping around your thighs and spreading your legs wide apart to fit his body between them. His hips grind forward and rub his massive erection along your wet folds.
You look up at him helplessly as he leans forward to lick your face and neck. Slowly the fat head of his red cock begins to slip into your tiny little cunt. A loud groan leaves his lips as he feels you wrap around him. His claws dig into the supple flesh of your thighs as he rolls his hips into you at a rapid pace.
Hands grasping at the forest floor, grabbing leaves and pieces of your torn clothes. You try to crawl backwards but he stops you, growling as he pulls you closer to him again. He gives you a glare as his cock stretches you to the brink, you’re his now to breed with and you won’t be leaving until you’re bred.
He drops your legs and turns you over. Your naked body hits the snow and you shiver. His hands grab your hips and pull you to him so you’re on all fours with your ass in the air for him. His cock slips back in, making him let out a small growl. His balls slap against your clit as he bucks into you.
Moans leave your lips, feeling disgusted with yourself for feeling pleasure from this beast. He loves to hear your pathetic little sounds. König’s claws dig into your hips as he gets closer to cumming inside of you.
Panting loudly as he leans over and begins to bite your neck hard. You let out a pained moan, the bite feeling slightly pleasurable. Slowly, the pressure of the bite increased and it was almost like he was keeping you in place.
That’s when you feel his hands on your hips push you down more on his cock. Your pussy is already full. You squirm from the pain. The squirms don’t stop him. He is close now. His hands firmly pull you back again as he pushes forward and you let out a loud moan. Little did you know he was trying to knot you.
König was ready to cum. His teeth sink fully into your neck, causing you to bleed. He pulls you to him and pushes forward until it pops in- finally. Instantly, your pussy clenches around his bulbous knot. You’re so tight, his cock throbbing periodically as he cums deep inside of you. Making sure not even one drop escapes you.
His massive body keeps you warm as you lie there in pain from being so full. You try to move and he growls at you, still not moving his teeth from your neck.
Slowly, he moves his teeth from your neck. You try to move and lie down, but you can’t. You're attached to him. Looking back over your shoulder at him, he leans back in and licks your face before licking your neck where he marked you. Now you’re officially his mate.
He stays locked inside of you as he ejaculates until his knot slowly fades away. Almost an hour on the freezing cold floor. If it wasn’t for his body heat, you would have frozen to death by now. As König slowly pulls out, he looks down at your small body. His eyes focused on your stretched pussy. Gently, he lifts you into his arms and walks you to the barn. He would not let you go now that he has found you.

Forgotten Child
DpxDc
Bruce would admit that he wasn’t near a perfect man. In all truth he was far from it really.
He had made hundreds of mistakes through his life and he had hoped he had learned something from them all but there was one mistake that stood out more than anything else.
The box in his hands had been proof of such, everything in it entailed just how badly he had failed. Failed as a man, failed as a person but most of all how he failed as a father.
It all started a year before he welcomed Dick into his life. It was one of his biggest regrets but also one of his biggest blessings as he stared at the new born baby boy in his arms. Soft blue wrapped around the little boy like tight arms as he held the sleeping baby close.
He had drilled that moment into his memories as he held the soft little bundle. It would be his first and his last memory of the boy in his arms. He knew the moment the pregnancy was announced that he wouldn’t be able to keep the babe. His life as Batman was to dangerous for a baby and as such he had made the decision to hand his baby to someone else.
Nobody but a trusted few would ever know of the young babe, no one would know Batman or Bruce Wayne had a son.
It had taken time and research but he had picked the perfect family. They would take care of his little star, he would be their son and not his. He would grow up safe and protect as Daniel Thomas Marshal.
Or at least he thought so.
Bruce didn’t give up contact with Daniel, each year he would send the boy anonymous gifts for his birthday and the holidays just as the elusive Uncle B. And as the boy grew they often exchanged letters.
His boy was smart, the top of his class and he was ohh so brilliant. He often drew pictures for Bruce where then man would store each with the letters in a box for sage keeping. Things had gone that way for years and Danny and he talked about many things. Bruce talked about life and Danny liked to talk about stars and the things he learned at school.
It had all been going so well till it all fell apart.
Jason had died and Bruce fell apart, losing himself in his grief for his lost child. Somewhere along the line after Jason’s death Bruce had stopped responding to the letters young Danny sent. He couldn’t bear to read them while he grieved Jason and at one point he must have told Alfred to just store them in Daniels letter box in instead of bringing them to him.
Somehow he had forgotten, he had forgotten the letters of messy cursive and doodles of stars and galaxy’s. Stories of school or life in the farm where he was being raised out in Wisconsin.
It was only because of his children that he remembered. A normal day of roughhousing and being shooed away by Alfred to take their antics elsewhere while he cleaned.
The kids had decided to take their games to the halls between there room and Damian and Jason to pick a locked door of a spare room that was never used and always locked. The others would never think to check the room as it was never opened.
The boys weren’t expecting to find a old but well cared for nursery. The walls a soft blue, the The ceilings dark blue with plastic stars in the patters of constellations. A crib in one corner with space themed decor and a small bed in the middle of the room obviously for when the crib was outgrown.
On the far wall was multiple shelves with a few old toys along with books and many other small items. Then there were the picture frames scattered about the shelves and other furniture in the room. All had one thing in common, a boy with soft black hair and ice blue eyes but each photo the boy was more grown.
At first they thought it was Bruce but the photos were to new and Bruce didn’t have ice blue eyes. The boy was in a picture with his parents, a blond woman with blue eyes and a Black haired man with green eyes. Those weren’t Bruce’s parents so who were they and who was the child that was in each photo.
Before they could snoop any further the door had been opened and a Stern Alfred shooed them away.
It didn’t take long for the boys to question Bruce about the room he had long ago forgotten about. Bruce didn’t say a word as he had rushed over to the room that he had long sense abandoned before he closed himself inside.
There Bruce had cried, he had forgotten one of his children and he cried as he looked at the photos.
He had spent hours in that room before a wooden box to the side on a Dresser caught his attention. He knew exactly what that box contained and he dreaded opening it.
When he found the courage to lift the lid he was greeted by hundreds of letters. A portion opened but most were untouched, never opened to be read.
He’d spend the next few weeks slowly going through the letters. Danny wasn’t sure why he hadn’t responded but the boy wrote that even though he didn’t get a response he hoped the letters were reaching him.
He learned soon after Jason’s death when Danny was 10 that the Marshals had died leaving Danny to the State only to be adopted by a family called the Fentons a year later.
After that Danny’s letters became less detailed and more vague about his life but instead asking questions Bruce would never answer. The boy avoided talking about his home life and manly talked about school and his 2 new friends or he’d ask about Bruce, how he was doing? If he was ok? And so on. Somehow Danny never gave up writing to Bruce.
That was until the last letter, sent over a year ago in handwriting Bruce didn’t recognize. Jasmine, Danny’s adopted sister had written that dated letter over a year ago.
Over a year ago Danny had been killed, killed in an accident in the Fentons Lab. No body left to be buried only the address of an empty grave.

Notes

The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien (1937)
In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort. Written for J.R.R. Tolkien’s own children, The Hobbit met with instant critical acclaim when it was first published in 1937. Now recognized as a timeless classic, this introduction to the hobbit Bilbo Baggins, the wizard Gandalf, Gollum, and the spectacular world of Middle-earth recounts of the adventures of a reluctant hero, a powerful and dangerous ring, and the cruel dragon Smaug the Magnificent.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan (2005-2009)
Percy Jackson is a good kid, but he can't seem to focus on his schoolwork or control his temper. And lately, being away at boarding school is only getting worse - Percy could have sworn his pre-algebra teacher turned into a monster and tried to kill him. When Percy's mom finds out, she knows it's time that he knew the truth about where he came from, and that he go to the one place he'll be safe.
She sends Percy to Camp Half Blood, a summer camp for demigods (on Long Island), where he learns that the father he never knew is Poseidon, God of the Sea. Soon a mystery unfolds and together with his friends—one a satyr and the other the demigod daughter of Athena - Percy sets out on a quest across the United States to reach the gates of the Underworld (located in a recording studio in Hollywood) and prevent a catastrophic war between the gods.
The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien (1954-1955)
In a sleepy village in the Shire, a young hobbit is entrusted with an immense task. He must make a perilous journey across Middle-earth to the Cracks of Doom, there to destroy the Ruling Ring of Power - the only thing that prevents the Dark Lord's evil dominion.
The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis (1950-1956)
Four adventurous siblings—Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy Pevensie— step through a wardrobe door and into the land of Narnia, a land frozen in eternal winter and enslaved by the power of the White Witch. But when almost all hope is lost, the return of the Great Lion, Aslan, signals a great change . . . and a great sacrifice.
The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery (1943)
The Little Prince is a classic tale of equal appeal to children and adults. On one level it is the story of an airman's discovery, in the desert, of a small boy from another planet - the Little Prince of the title - and his stories of intergalactic travel, while on the other hand it is a thought-provoking allegory of the human condition.
The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini (2002-2011, 2023)
When fifteen-year-old Eragon finds a polished blue stone in the forest, he thinks it is the lucky discovery of a poor farm boy. But when the stone brings a dragon hatchling, Eragon soon realizes he has stumbled upon a legacy nearly as old as the Empire itself.
Overnight his simple life is shattered, and, gifted with only an ancient sword, a loyal dragon, and sage advice from an old storyteller, Eragon is soon swept into a dangerous tapestry of magic, glory, and power. Now his choices could save--or destroy--the Empire.
Time Quintet by Madeleine L'Engle (1962-1989)
It was a dark and stormy night; Meg Murry, her small brother Charles Wallace, and her mother had come down to the kitchen for a midnight snack when they were upset by the arrival of a most disturbing stranger.
Wild nights are my glory, the unearthly stranger told them. I just got caught in a downdraft and blown off course. Let me sit down for a moment, and then I'll be on my way. Speaking of ways, by the way, there is such a thing as a tesseract.
Folk of the Air by Holly Black (2018-2020)
Of course I want to be like them. They're beautiful as blades forged in some divine fire. They will live forever.
And Cardan is even more beautiful than the rest. I hate him more than all the others. I hate him so much that sometimes when I look at him, I can hardly breathe.
Jude was seven years old when her parents were murdered and she and her two sisters were stolen away to live in the treacherous High Court of Faerie. Ten years later, Jude wants nothing more than to belong there, despite her mortality. But many of the fey despise humans. Especially Prince Cardan, the youngest and wickedest son of the High King.
To win a place at the Court, she must defy him--and face the consequences.
In doing so, she becomes embroiled in palace intrigues and deceptions, discovering her own capacity for bloodshed. But as civil war threatens to drown the Courts of Faerie in violence, Jude will need to risk her life in a dangerous alliance to save her sisters, and Faerie itself.
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V. E. Schwab (2020)
France, 1714: In a moment of desperation, a young woman named Adeline meets a dangerous stranger and makes a terrible mistake.
As she realizes the limitations of her Faustian bargain-being able to live forever, without being able to be remembered by anyone she sees- Addie chooses to flee her small village, as everything she once held dear is torn away.
But there are still dreams to be had, and a life to live, and she is determined to find excitement and satisfaction in the wide, beckoning world-even if she will be doomed to be alone forever.
Or not quite alone-as every year, on her birth-day, the alluring Luc comes to visit, checking to see if she is ready to give up her soul. Their darkly thrilling game stretches through the ages, seeing Addie witness history and fight to regain herself as she crosses oceans and tries on various lives.
It will be three hundred years before she stumbles into a hidden bookstore and discovers someone who can remember her name-and suddenly, everything changes again.
Circe by Madeline Miller (2018)
the house of Helios, god of the sun and mightiest of the Titans, a daughter is born. But Circe is a strange child—not obviously powerful like her father, nor viciously alluring like her mother. Turning to the world of mortals for companionship, she discovers that she does possess power—the power of witchcraft, which can transform rivals into monsters and menace the gods themselves.
Threatened, Zeus banishes her to a deserted island, where she hones her occult craft, tames wild beasts, and crosses paths with many of the most famous figures in all of mythology, including the Minotaur; Daedalus and his doomed son, Icarus; the murderous Medea; and, of course, wily Odysseus.
But there is danger, too, for a woman who stands alone, and Circe unwittingly draws the wrath of both men and gods, ultimately finding herself pitted against one of the most terrifying and vengeful of the Olympians. To protect what she loves most, Circe must summon all her strength and choose, once and for all, whether she belongs with the gods she is born from or the mortals she has come to love.

Fallout and Food - research for all fics
I've been meaning to type this up for ages (I have it as written notes on my iPad), so I thought I'd post this first and if people are interested I can post more research that I've done, since a lot of you said yes to seeing my research!
So I talk about food a lot, in my fics. That's because I love cooking. So one of the first things I did was research food, because as much as I love spam (no joke I miss it most since going vegetarian) I wanted to try and have some diversity in what Cooper and Lucy ate, especially once we got to the ranch, where the residents are permanently settled and food is part of life, rather than a mere thing of sustenance.
There were a few things I focused on in my research, wanting to have meals that could be left whilst work was happening, so I pictured a lot of stews and cassoulets, corn-based porridge, hearty breads etc - but there's no flour. Instead, Mesquite beans can be subbed 1:1 for flour to make a flatbread, and there's a lot of recipes using beer etc, which we know they have, as a raising agent.
A lot of the animals they're eating aren't exactly to our tastes, but knowing that peppers and tomatoes are grown lets us know they can make paprika etc, and the jalapenos in game gave me hope haha! I wrote a smoker into the farm and cold storage so they could a) dry age the meat via hanging, and b) smoke extra flavour into some of the less...appetizing cuts
And for the meat-
Here are some of the meal ideas I noted down-
Meal ideas
Cassoulet of wild beans and meat
If we have agave and corn we can have cornbread
Corn based porridge
Pinon nuts - pine nuts + Jalapeno and coriander could marinade Iguana Nicely
Pickly Pear - can be made into fruit/jelly/fruit cheese (named after the historic moulds, no cheese involved) or sauce for meat
Tacos with black beans and brahmin cheese
Nopales are edible pads of the prickly pear cactus, which can be stir fried
Tepary beans and cholla bud stew
And finally, 10 of my references since you can only put 10 links in, apparently!

WOLFER --- The real California history behind the Tomione Fic
Convict Lake Camp (OwensValleyHistory.com)
When I was a kid, my family frequently visited Bishop, California. I can still feel the light-headed enchantment of hopping out of the van at a relative's green, creek-watered ranch shadowed by towering granite faces of the High Sierras. The dusty road and sage-sharp aroma propelled my imagination two hundred years into the past.
Wolfer is set in 1890 Bishop Creek, and while some of the location names are changed to fit the story, the town really had ranching barons like the Sacred 28 families, churches which exerted certain levels of social power with the well-to-do folk, boarding houses for mill workers and on-farm worker housing for fruit pickers and cowboys--or perhaps the odd wolfer.
It's amazing what you can dig up when you're procrastinating working on your WIP, lol. I did a lot of initial research while writing a Gingerrose fic set in post Civil War Bishop Creek.
Here are some things I found.
Main Street, Bishop Creek 1880 (OwensValleyHistory.com)
In Chapter 1, Tom rides down Main Street to the marshal's office (played by a grudging Severus Snape) and runs into Hermione.
Way off into the upper right you can see the steeple of the First Baptist Church on Main Street.
East Line Street, Bishop Creek (OwensValleyHistory.com)
Tom chases Hermione to Line Street, where he pushes her up against the Brown's Machine Shed, which is of course re-named to fit Lavender Brown's family.
(OwensValleyHistory.com)
Check out that snow! Sitting at 4,000 feet of elevation in the foothills of the East Sierras, the snow can get quite voluminous.
W.D. Roberts Ranch, Round Valley (OwensValleyHistory.com)
The ranch near the dry saltbeds of Owens Lake where Draco visits Harry, (by way of Mad Eye Moody) might have looked like this.
Cerro Gordo photo taken some time between 1871 - 1879 (OwensValleyHistory.com
We get a brief glimpse of the Cerro Gordo silver mine when Draco and Harry ride off into the sunset together for a night of wild debauchery. The brothels and bawdy houses within these sprawling mining towns would have perhaps been some of the only public places for late 19th-century gays to be themselves. Miss Lola's was among the more famous, and I'm struggling to find the website where I originally learned this this but I believe she hosted queer sex workers and provided space for an early LGBTQ+ scene.
The silver mine itself brought together a richly diverse group of fortune seekers. I accessed California census documents and found that while Bishop Creek was mostly white, Cerro Gordo had a much more diverse population (interestingly all marked with 'I', even Latinx names).
I did a phone interview with the Inyo Historical Society and chatted for an hour with a local historian, telling him I was getting context for a novel. (He didn't need to know that my novel was also a fanfic, hahaha.) The historian told me the mine had Mexican, Black, Chinese, and Indigenous populations working as miners, teamsters (people who drive wagons), cooks, brick masons, farm laborers and all kinds of interesting jobs related to running the mine.
Main Street in Bishop Creek, 1878 (OwensValleyHistory.com
One thing that sticks out in my mind from the conversation with the historian is how the white and Mexican ranchers demolished the irrigation canals the Numuu Indigenous tribes had dug to create a green landscape in Owens Valley. Native Americans have been 'farming' America's landscape for thousands of years in a low-impact way. In Chapter 4, Tom muses on this detail as he's setting a wolf trap on Rosier's ranch.
Perhaps the most illuminating account of the region comes from Sarah Winnemucca, daughter of Chief Truckee (after whom the town is named). Sarah travelled as an advocate for Indigenous rights and cataloged her experience and the story of white settler colonization in her book, Life Among the Pauites: Their Wrongs and Claims which you can read for free here.
Thank you for diving into California history with me!
Read Wolfer here.

Harlequins Argue About Humans [Heirs of the Laughing God: A Deadly Wit & Death's Mercy excerpts]
A Deadly Wit audiobook cover art by Akim Kaliberda (idk if Death's Mercy is also done by him, but I couldn't find the artist name behind it and can't see it in his socials)
These are excerpts of three Harlequins, namely (in case you haven't listened or read the two Heirs of the Laughing God audiobooks yet): Duruthiel, the self-aggrandizing but mostly warmhearted Troupe Master of the Masque of the Fading Dawn who banters a lot with his two companions— most often with the (comparatively) sensible but cynical Death Jester Adroniel. The calmest one of the three is Echo, the sometimes-high Shadowseer who confounds even his fellow Harlequins with his vague sage words.
________________________________________
A Deadly Wit
Context: Duruthiel and the others go battle orks because someone from the Masque of Reaper's Mirth insulted his leadership. The Masque of the Fading Dawn encounter a prison full of malnourished human slaves along the way. He decides to free them regardless of the risk, no strings or backstabbings attached, much to Adroniel's dismay.
As the Harlequins entered on foot, the anti-grav craft of the masque slid away across the town luring the vengeful mob on a false chase into the depths of the gorge. Inside was pitch-black, lit only by the ghost gleam of their holo-suits. After a plain entrance hall they came out into the starlight again, a small rectangle of pinpricks in the velvet night above bounded on three sides by the silhouette of the buildings and on the forth by the jagged rampart of the citadel wall. In the faint illumination they saw rows and rows of barred openings in the walls. Above, floor after floor of cells mounted up through ramshackle scaffolding, ladders and precarious stairs until the view faded into the distance. Adroniel: ‘A prison, castoffs from the warlord’s favor, perhaps, kept close at hand for easy gloating.’ Duruthiel: ‘Children of the Emperor, forsaken against their fate, bound into terror unto death and death is the release they long for. A clamor of torment lies in this place, a torture of souls in pain. Slaves…’ Adroniel: ‘Of no concern to us, Red Swan. We are sent to your destiny, remember?’
The emaciated prisoners begin to stir, pale hands reach from behind the bars. The Great Harlequin shudders. He signals the Tragedy to move on along with the Troupes without him.
Duruthiel: ‘This clamor shall wake all foes to our progress.’ Adroniel: ‘Then waste no time with pointless words and make more haste.’ Echo: ‘From the lamenting of the disfavored comes the darkness. The great powers sup on the nightmares waxing strong as they drain hope from the misbegotten and unremembered.’ Adroniel: ‘What point in releasing them? They are too starved to fight. The orks will slay them out of hand.’ Duruthiel hesitated at the next ladder. His eyes lingered on a human male pressed close to the bars. The man’s ribs showed through paper-thin skin. His eyes were sunken and devoid of any understanding deeper than a farm beast.
Orks roar from above. A cannon shoots; whether the orks suspect the Harlequins are there or just want silence the ruckus among the slaves is unknown. Adroniel leaps past Duruthiel unto a scaffold bank and flips herself up with one hand.
Adroniel: ‘No time to lose, Duruthiel. The foe has murderous intent for this place.’ Duruthiel pulled himself up to rungs, but hesitated still looking down into the fire that had started on the lower levels. The smell of charred flesh wafted up towards him as the opened space acted as a huge chimney. Adroniel: ‘It is simply mon-keigh killing mon-keigh, just what they always do! This is no place for the Laughing God. It is a death trap.’ Echo: ‘In alliance even the unspeaking beast can carry its burden. What strength is shown to sacrifice the weak save to bolster the grandeur of the benighted gods of the warp?’ Duruthiel: ‘Our corpses would lie beside theirs. Better that the enemy remains distracted.’ The Great Harlequin dropped back to the platform at the base of the ladder drawing his sword. Duruthiel: ‘Cegorach’s mercy, I cannot allow it. Does not the Laughing God dare the grasp of She Who Thirsts to snatch up our fleeing souls even as her grip closes?’ Duruthiel’s sword sang as he lashed out cutting the crude lock from the nearest cell door. (FX - CELL DOOR SLOWLY OPENS WITH A SQUEAK) Duruthiel: ‘Make swift work! A thumb to the eye for the great enemy! Let not desperate prayers rise to the ears of the dark powers but have them answered by a folk more kind to look upon them and more gallant of act.’ Adroniel: ‘Oh, fool, you doom us!’
Duruthiel ignores Adroniel's protest and resumes slashing down more locks. The freed are first unsure what to do as the zooming zephyrs continue to unleash more of them, but the former prisoners manage to get their bearings and exit their cages. They try to express their utmost thanks, but the Harlequins are too fast, swiftly spinning and ducking away from grateful embraces. The orks fire again while the Harlequins quickly move. Hundreds of humans reunite with one another, hugging and kissing as they continue the work left of freeing the rest.
Duruthiel catches up with Adroniel at the jail's summit. Screams shattered the air.
...A few troopers below were less fortunate. The next salvo crashed into a gantry where they still worked to free the slaves incinerating three of Duruthiel’s followers, sending two more tumbling to a messy end far below. Adroniel: ‘Happier now?! Shall I name those that gave their lives for these animals?!’ Duruthiel: ‘They confound the orks and distract from our presence.’ Adroniel: ‘Circumstance, such was not your intent!’ Duruthiel: ‘Reward for a good deed I would like to think. Unwitting, but they repaid their debt.’
Duruthiel's closing lines on the matter while watching humans arm themselves with weapons from their former captors:
Duruthiel: ‘Does the heart good to see the caged run free, whatever the uncertainties are faced that await them. Aye, not all was vanity today.’
________________________________________
Death's Mercy
In-between the fighting, these three colorful companions give different perspectives on humans.
[...] Echo (smiling): ‘The scale of the tale is not in the length, but in the depth.’ Adroniel: ‘As of mass, I agree. These humans have changed the galaxy and not for the better. But as individuals they are a fleeting annoying flicker. Nothing of note can be accomplished in the blink of an eye.’ Duruthiel: ‘I disagree, for in a blink the world changes. A star can be born, a seed spark into life. A miniscule event can occur that would ripple across the skein of fate for a lifetime.’ Adroniel: ‘Hm, you have a strange fondness for these mon-keigh, Duruthiel.’ Duruthiel: ‘And you have contempt unworthy of the Laughing God, Adroniel.’ Adroniel: ‘Unworthy? Since when did Cegorach make judgment upon any of us?’ Echo: ‘In the lesson, perhaps, not the entity.’
(some slaughtering later)
[...] Echo (smiling): ‘Death is the means not the arbiter, but you are falling into judgment. The purpose of death is not to crush life, but to fan the spark of its existence into a flame that burns bright.’ Adroniel: ‘There is no spark in the humans, just kindling that disappears with a puff in an instant.’ (FX - ADRONIEL TAKES ANOTHER SHOT) Echo: ‘Not so. For those short-lived that flame burns so brightly, it sets the galaxy aflame for long after. The life long-lived drains the spirit, forcing us to seek greater stimuli for our passions to continue.’
______________________________________
The invaders retreat back, the brutality of war now seem so distant that the battleground seems almost peaceful.
Duruthiel: ‘If it is our role, oh seeker of joyful death, to quash hope from and bring meaning through ending, is it a mercy not spite to pursue these flagging mon-keigh?.’ Adroniel: ‘Hm, an interesting question, Duruthiel. There is a new objective, mercy or spite. Such things exist only at the motive of the act. And the motive is wholly dependent on belief of the subject’s desire. If I believe the humans to desire death, it would be a mercy to give it to them. If I believe they wish to live, it is a spite to slay them.’ Duruthiel: ‘So would you have us chase them down or not?’ Adroniel: ‘Oh, I am not the leader as Echo choses to remind us frequently.’ Duruthiel: ‘I did not say we would enact your choice, but I would hear your opinion and arguments.’ Adroniel: ‘Chase them down! Kill them all, ahahah!’ Echo: ‘For mercy or spite?’ Adroniel: ‘In this case it is neither. They are mon-keigh, beneath mercy or spite. Opportunity presents itself for a cull of their numbers, we should cease it.’ Duruthiel: ‘A cold reasoning with which I am not in total agreement, but we will pursue.’ Adroniel: ‘For mercy.’ Duruthiel: ‘For something to do. I yet have desired to avoid standing sentry at the Webway portals. Onward, Endorieth!’
While Duruthiel does order everyone to attack the retreating human invaders out of boredom, this seems to be circumstantial as they are up against enemies invading a Craftworld. Just a story ago, he freed human slaves and he didn't even know there were others aside from orks present in the first place.
They do even more killing, argue about perspectives on each others' roles, and decided to take out a Titan from the inside. Later on, they encounter an unarmed wounded guardswoman. Adroniel was about to kill her immediately, proving to her comrades that what primarily drives her cruelty towards the humans is spite, for what reasons is unknown. Her two allies accuse that it harkens back to her past in Commorragh, but not much is said. I've already posted an excerpt of that event (and its outcome). But, here's a shorter version if you want just that:
(FX - ECHO PREVENTS ADRONIEL FORM SHOOTING) Adroniel (angrily): ‘Ah, what is this, Shadowseer?! Do not interrupt me at the moment of releasing death’s mercy.’ Echo: ‘By your own admission it is spite that moves you.’
The guardswoman speaks. Echo points out to Adroniel that she can talk despite the latter's assertion and that she just wants to survive. Adroniel is having none of it. The injured begs to be let go. There is a brief sass-off between clown and mon'keigh.
Adroniel: ‘Events are moving on without us. It is time to rejoin the company so I must end its miserable life.’ Echo: ‘Or… spare it?’ Adroniel: ‘Why?’ Echo: ‘Must there be a reason? Think of possibilities, of endless fates yet unplayed. A simple act, the execution of which costs you nothing, might one day bring great harm to She-Who-Thirsts. It is in your gift to deliver a deadly fate, but equally to grant extended life. Is that not powerful to you?’ (FX - WOUNDED GUARDSWOMAN SOBS ON THE FLOOR) Echo: ‘Act without reason for we are the Harlequins of the Laughing God. As a spirit is snatched at whim from damnation, why not spare this life?’ Adroniel (thinking that over and finally taking the gun away): ‘Hm, you may go back to your companions. If our paths cross again, you will die.’
The guardswoman stands and runs away.
Echo (smiling): ‘Is it a sound for the spirit to grant hope as well as crush it?’ Adroniel: ‘Hm, there might be something to be said in its defense. In moderation, of course. Yet the battle goes on and we must still fight it.
In the end of Death's Mercy, they spy on the one they spared flee back to her fellows. The three Harlequin friends are elated to see her welcomed by her allies, at first. The guardswoman is shot by a Commissar. Duruthiel is enraged at the kinslayer. Echo asks what Adroniel thinks.
Adroniel: ‘Ahahah, I hope you see the truth now. I am the Death Jester. There is nothing of me that is turned to life, only its ending. My work shall never cease until I claim myself and another steps up to the role.’ Duruthiel: ‘You are not saddened?’ Adroniel: ‘Why should I be sad knowing myself, Duruthiel? Does the rampant ego of the Red Swan depress you? And I am glad for fate has guided me to my next target.’ Echo: ‘To avenge the slaying of the one you spared?’ Adroniel: ‘Do not be so sentimental, Shadowseer. It is merely a glimmer from the skein that has caught my eye. Perhaps, it is a sign, the will of the Laughing God... but, probably not! Ahahahaha!’
Adroniel aims her cannon. This isn't the only time Adroniel deliberately made her answer vague.
_______________________________________
While they do still think of humans as barbaric (as many non-humans often do for various reasons good, bad, and neither), these Harlequins differ in opnion when it comes to humans, and for different reasons. It's as if they each represent the different Troupe mentalities and outlooks.
Duruthiel is the most openly compassionate of the three despite his impulsiveness. He risked himself and his fellow Harlequins to save human slaves from imprisonment. And while he does kill humans in Death's Mercy, it's largely due to them being invaders this time (and he has fun doing so as long he isn't bored). I've read a few theories that Duruthiel might be a Light Troupe Master for these reasons. He's forgetful and ready to decapitate a Warlord just because a Harlequin from another Masque taunted him, but he's also bold, heroic, good at improvised tactics, and tries to see the brighter side (to a quixotic degree, in Adroniel's view).
Adroniel views humans as mere mon'keigh animals not worth saving, let alone risking life for them. It takes someone else's convincing to make her drop her aim. This is more apparent when comparing her battle against orks in A Deadly Wit where her attitude towards their slaughter is more joyful while her killing of humans in Death's Mercy sounds more spiteful (although, this could also just be because Adroniel is given focus as the main protagonist in the latter). The others accuse that her special contempt towards humans traces back to her Commorragh past, a rare instance of a Harlequin's past life being brought up. However, not much is said about it still. Duruthiel thinks she ironically worries about certain things too much for a Death Jester.
Echo is somewhere in-between. Sadly, a third audiobook didn't come to be (it was supposed to be a three-parter series), but from what he's shown, he was from Biel- Tan and he's at least likely to spare a human to see if fate would lead to one becoming instrumental (and also seems at least somewhat more sympathetic towards humans compared to Adroniel).

Response to Death Battle's Bowser vs. Dr. Eggman: Part 1/3 - Review
These three parts feature the following media from Sonic the Hedgehog, Super Mario Bros., and Death Battle:
Basically all of Mario
Basically all of Sonic
Death Battle’s Bowser vs. Dr. Eggman
Welcome to part 1 of my response to Death Battle, the review. What do I think about this episode, the first game Sonic episode since Shadow vs. Ryuko? Eggman’s triumphant return since Season 1 over a decade ago?
Well...
Let’s not beat around the bush. This is, without a doubt, Death Battle’s best episode yet. That’s high praise, given it’s had incredible episodes over its lifespan (with multiple contenders for best/favourite episode coming just from Season 10 alone), but this episode has a very small number of episodes that can even compete with it for that position.
As you can probably surmise, major spoilers for the episode in this review, and if you somehow stumbled onto this review without having seen the episode, I urge you to go watch it. Right now. In fact, here’s a link to the episode itself so you can go watch it.
So the fight begins with Bowser’s wedding-
Nah I’m just tricking, I’m not going to skip the analyses like that, I wouldn’t disgrace the debate side of things like that. What am I, a reaction YouTuber?
Anyways, those analyses were given impressive editing, a genius at both being slick and at properly conveying what information the hosts are talking about. It really does sell every single feat and analysis they display, and the information they give flows naturally from point to point as a result.
Bowser’s analysis sets up the family aspect of him and his army quite well, at first masking it behind a joke over being mistreated and farmed for one-ups, planting the seeds for that reading while also being deliberately absurd enough to not take the supposed mistreatment seriously. It’s very well done subliminal priming for their dive into Bowser’s character.
And focusing on family for Bowser’s analysis set up a great contrast to Eggman’s, where it delved into how awesome and intelligent he is, but also on the fact that he’s really all on his own – that army might be formidable, but not a single one of them is a person in his eyes – with the sole exception to Sage. He’s so lonely that his only family was an AI girl that he created.
And both analyses cover a good blend of their most iconic and most dangerous weapons. While blatantly impossible to mention everything (even mentioned by the hosts themselves in regards to just Bowser’s troops), they did cover quite a wide blend, and every single trump card the two possessed was at least mentioned, either in the individual analyses or the post-analysis at the end.
… And yet the analyses also contain the worst part of the episode, and the main reason I wouldn’t call it perfect. Yes, the research was off, even with the black boxes included there were multiple incorrect scaling claims and questionable interpretations of how some of that equipment worked (for example, how they claimed that the Pure Hearts nullified the Chaos Heart, despite the fact that even after two uses of the Pure Hearts the Chaos Heart was still threatening to destroy everything; or how they deemed the Phantom Ruby to lose to real reality manipulation despite the fact that – for anyone caught in the Phantom Ruby’s illusions – it IS real reality manipulation).
Given the sheer size and volume of everything, it’s not a deal breaker for the episode like others are (and like a certain episode just earlier this “season”), but it’s still disappointing to see both sides not quite get their dues.
I won’t focus on it anymore however in this part, and from this point onwards I’ll operate under the assumption that the information presented in the episode is 100% accurate for the sake of the review.
… Now, if the analyses are already this good, and I’m saying the worst part of the episode is contained within them, then what does that say about the actual animation? Especially a fight like this, where it’s simultaneously a fight between two armies and one where both sides have a billion instant win buttons – such a combination is inherently difficult to write and difficult to animate, a recipe for disaster in most circumstances.
… Not this time.
This fight was perfection.
The first quarter or so of the match-up focuses on the armies and how well they fare against each other, and it uses that to transition into the first showcase of one of many trump cards – the phantom ruby.
It being so powerful that when Infinite got one tapped (genius idea to amplify gravity when Thwomps exist, loser), the focus on the two armies’ primary focus became just obtaining that gemstone. It’s chaos, different enemies being thrown around all over – even Orbot and Cubot get involved, that’s how important maintaining control over it is.
And given how powerful just the phantom ruby alone is, when that Chance Time guarantees the destruction of the Phantom Ruby, the battle immediately pivots into both combatants and their generals using their trump cards, with the armies turning into a background detail as a result.
And boy did they really sell the raw power of those trump cards. Neo Metal Sonic defeating standard Bowser in one hit and Super Neo contending with Fury Bowser after the latter overpowered both the Death Egg Robot and Sage, Fury Bowser breaking through the Death Egg Robot in a single strike, and that Grand Star boost being so powerful it obliterates Super Neo and the entirety of the Egg Fleet combined in a single blast.
Everything hits hard, and just from seeing them play out we can see that this is what will call the shots in this war.
And all that raw power comes to a head when Eggman commands Sage to fire the Death Egg’s Final Egg Blaster. This is also where the mini-story that was in the animation comes to a head here – Eggman gathering them all up under the false pretense of a wedding to take them out at once, prematurely assuming the fight’s won (and only entering it himself when he believes that), and how callously he sacrifices any robot if it’s for his own sake. Bowser, meanwhile, focused on keeping his own troops alive when the Phantom Ruby starts decimating them, and unleashed the Grand Star due to his fury at seeing Bowser Jr. harmed (which given that he was already Fury Bowser is saying something), and fighting side by side with his army and generals the whole time.
It all comes to a close with the Death Egg, as Eggman’s troops know that they’re being completely sacrificed – the only reason they’re even able to flee being because they’re all being sacrificed in an instant. Bowser, meanwhile, jumps in the way and sacrificing himself to save his army.
And it all means that when Dry Bowser emerges, Eggman’s left with no tools, no options, against the entirety of the Koopa Troop – despite the fact that only Bowser and his son were needed to close out the fight, periodically closing out Eggman’s last few remaining options one by one. He can’t fire the Death Egg again, he can’t run, he can’t use his jetpack – even his weak little gun is denied the opportunity to even fire off a shot.
And his death is celebrated as coins rain down from the sky onto the entire army.
It’s an incredible animation that really sold just how chaotic such a fight would go down with all of their best stuff combined. My only negative is that Sage ultimately did very little, I definitely think they could’ve given her a moment of commanding the Eggman Armada while Eggman himself is busy elsewhere, or a brief POV shot to showcase her aiming at Bowser’s army instead of Bowser, or gave her a voice actress to provide suggestions from her analyses.
Still though, this was already a battle jam packed full of so many factors that it would be hard to include such scenes without ruining the pacing, so I can’t really hold them against it.
Oh, and the music. I don’t have the words to really describe it properly, but the music’s incredible and fits the fight very well. Calling it Game Over is a nice touch.
And then the post-analysis kicks in, and closes out why the Death Battle team came to this conclusion for the battle. It’s a standard post-analysis, but with some really nice brief looks into alternate scenarios. I don’t like how literally all but one of them is Bowser winning for what is supposedly a really close match (and even that one exception isn’t given a conclusion), but they’re great, I really hope they show up again in future episodes when it’s appropriate to have them.
This episode was originally planned for Season 10, but ultimately had to get pushed back due to taking too long to fit in, but man am I glad they gave it the time they needed to, this is without a doubt my favourite Sonic episode in Death Battle. Wait no, scratch that, it’s my favourite episode overall in Death Battle.
I do not normally do reviews on this blog (as you can probably tell), but if it’s something you’d like to see more I can do it for some future Sonic games and/or future Sonic episodes of Death Battle. I mainly did a review this time because I wanted to preface just how much I enjoyed the episode before I delve into parts 2 and 3.
And before I forget (again), I have a Discord set up for this very blog, a temporary link will be available here, and a permanent link should be edited into my introductory message for the blog.
I hope to see you there!

What if Desmond wasn't kidding when he said that he was in a cult? Sorry "Wool Over Our Eyes" has me wondering if there was a cult that William Miles was leading, and maybe maybe the very real prophecy that played out was a cover for more sinister intentions. Like Desmond escaped from it and is brought back not to serve faithfully but to destroy it.
"Wait wait run that by me again Shaun?"
"Des your dad has been running a cult. He's been using the brotherhood as a cover."
Desmond shook his head. He used the cult imagery to explain his lack of schooling and social skills. But to think he'd been right terrified him. He looked at Shaun and Rebecca as they nursed his wounds. He'd died sure, and it felt only like a day or more not seven years. Yet that didn't matter. He reflected and realized how eeriely true it had been. How there was a small number of people at the farm who wore red robes. Assassin Robes of old sure but pure red. Not white, grey, dark blue or black but pure red. He remembered to asking about his friend Theo who was just as bad as him in training who disappeared with out another word said. How people would vanish.
Did Clay Kazmarek know? Did Lucy Stillman know? If they knew did they tell anyone? He racked his brain over Clay's cryptic words then something clicked
"In the woods we pledge our lives, to the lamb the leads the sheep, sages say that faith is blind, pulled the wool over our eyes"
He thought it madness but Clay was warning him. Vedic tried to warn him too.
"You think your cell is going to find you? No your just a sacrifice in a bigger scheme."
He looked at Shaun and Rebecca hoping they weren't swallowed by the cult. Thankfully they weren't but Layla Hassin, the latest recruit had been sacrificed for some greater purpose. Here they were now. Just them since William couldn't be trusted and Basim was Loki. Loki chose the cult so they were alone. Alone against those whose blind faith would lead them to ruin.

Various Undertale Headcanons
Felt like doing this. It's mostly about minor characters and NPCs
The Froggit you speak to about the yellow names is friends with the ruins dummy. That's how it can get the entire underground to change their spare names from yellow to white or pink, despite being unable to leave the Ruins. It just asks the Dummy to tell the folk outside. That Froggit is also one of the only people that know they exist. Most others don't realize that dummy has a ghost living in it
The last non ghost, human, or flower to leave the Ruins were Whimsalot, Final Froggit, and Astigmatism. They had to 'face the horrible monster that guards the gate to Snowdin' to leave (Fought Toriel until she opened the door for them. Toriel didn't do much fighting). Whimsalot feels a lot of guilt for leaving Whimsun behind
Crystal (Snowdrake's mom) was born incredibly weak and was always bound for a short life. The reason she fell in love with Snowy's dad is cause he joked around about her condition. Those around him thought his jokes were in poor taste, but Crystal appreciated someone making light of her situation instead of just treating her with pity and sadness. The jokes sounding mean to Crystal was part of the reason a rift grew between him and Snowdrake
Ice Cap's family has a strong tradition of making ice clothing. It started off as a way to make armor easily, but later just became for cosmetics. Ice Cap's love of its own hat comes from them wanting acknowledgment and attention from their family. Its hard mode counterpart would be called Ice Sage. Probably look like a wizard
Noelle's mom grew up in Snowdin forest, far from Snowdin Town. Gyftrot is an older relative of hers, and like them, she enjoys solitude. Her outgoing husband managed to break through her shell a bit, but after his death, she went back to being a hermit.
Noelle and Dess often sneak off into town together. Going off to get them back home is one of the only reasons Carol ever leaves the house. The townsfolk are slightly intimidated by her
Assuming Dess is around Burgerpants' age and Noelle is around Frisk's age, they'd be about 19 and 12 respectively. Might make them closer to 17 and 13 just to they weren't born so far apart
The red bird in Grillby's is Berdly's mom. Berdly himself is in Hotland for school and to work with Ms. Boom, so they usually don't see each other often. Berdly does call a lot though, red bird telling him about the goings on and gossip in the rest of the underground. I'm unsure what became of Berdly's dad
Alvin is a professor Hotland University, teaching history with an interest in religion and legends
Waterfall has a lot of farms we don't see. Aaron lives on one, but was always more interested in flexing and working on his muscles than actually working. His brother did most of the work around the farm until he fell down. In Deltarune, his brother's still alive, and Aaron is a little jealous of his physique
Loren and Rainy kid are friends
Catti's hair is natrually purple, like her mom's. Catty helped dye it black with a pink streak
Bratty has two younger siblings. Creepy twins

Checklist of Isekai Anime I've Watched
Last month, I'd fallen down the isekai rabbit hole. I've now reached a point where I'm having a hard time keeping track of what I've already seen and what I haven't yet watched. I've also been mixing up one anime for another, or worse I've completely forgotten what happened in it after some time has pass.
I originally wasn't going to put this in any particular order, but decided to list down the ones that I enjoyed watching the most to the least. For me, the least doesn't necessarily mean that it was bad. Just that it was not as memorable, or had a few things about it that bothered me enough to get in the way of my enjoyment of it.

7th Time Loop [1]
The Weakest Tamer Began a Journey to Pick Up Trash

Didn't I Say to Make My Abilities Average in the Next Life?!
The Aristocrat's Otherworldly Adventure: Serving Gods Who Go Too Far
Log Horizon
Uncle from Another World
Black Summoner
Demon Lord, Retry!
The Dungeon of Black Company

The Executioner and Her Way of Life
I Shall Survive Using Potions!
She Professed Herself Pupil of the Wise Man
Notes:
[1] I didn't know at the time, but 7th Time Loop isn't an isekai. It's actually more of a fantasy with time looping in the protagonist's own world, rather of them being a person from the modern world isekai'd to a totally new environment. I stilled enjoyed it, and would have overlooked it if I didn't check out all the Villainess tagged anime.
After Thoughts: I seem to like the slice-of-life, light-hearted, and wholesome types of isekai a lot more than I thought I would. They're so enjoyable, but a part of that is probably because I was more in the mood for them. For example, the last isekai I've watched was Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash. I put it low on my list, not because it was bad, but I just wasn't in the mood for it. I was actually pleasantly surprise that it went through the realistic, grimdark and serious route instead of the usual way.
Other reasons (besides not being in the mood for it) that I may put an anime low on my list is because there were things in it that I didn't like. For example, The Rising of the Shield Hero does an excellent job at provoking the audience reaction of outrage to the shield hero's poor treatment, but I just don't like how it handles a couple of things.
One of those points is slavery, which I didn't realize was such a common occurrence in isekai. The protagonist comes from the 21-century Earth, so they know slavery is wrong. Despite this, they never do anything about it, or even try to fight against it, or worse they actually contribute to it. Of course, they're not under any moral obligation to do something, but it's disappointing when it's set up as an afterthought or used as a gimmick to support the protagonist.
I get it. It would be difficult to stop slavery because it's a systemic issue that would require the dismantling of laws and regulations by those in power. But it makes me wonder why do so many isekai authors even include it at all? If slavery can't be treated with the gravity it deserves given its historical role in destroying millions of human lives, then don't add it into the story. More so, if it has no bearing on the actual main plot, or when it doesn't make much sense to see in lighthearted and wholesome-centric isekai animes.
I also don't care for loli-like and shota-like protagonists. It's adorable when the anime is actually sweet and pure, but not when they're sexualized, or put into fanservice situations and whatnot. What comes to mind is Lloyd from I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince, so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability. It's not a typical isekai because the protagonist is reborn into the same world again, but his character design in the anime weirds me out. Worse is when Ren shows up.
Another example is I Shall Survive Using Potions. It has an interesting premise, but I dislike the protagonist. It's just so off-putting when all the character designs look the same because of the chibi-style. Plus, knowing that a 22-year-old office lady was 'reborn' into a child body, and plans to find herself a husband in that form (or that she isn't phrase by teen boys or men asking to marry her/pretend to be their fiancé) is disturbing. The entire time watching, I was also wondering when will she use her potion power to age herself up to be physically older. Seriously, the thought cross her mind to disguise herself by changing her hair and eye color, but not her body's age?? She even pointed out that it was such an annoying hindrance for when she wanted to start her own business. Oh, and it's not like it's impossible either because she unintentionally de-aged one of her companions too.
I also don't mind harem elements because some do it well by developing their characters and making their story be more than just pandering. Even if it's not a harem, a lot of the anime I've seen has a lot of female supporting characters surrounding the protagonists. It's not always a bad thing, but most of the time it's not done very well. They tend to feel more like ornaments to complete a chartacter-type checklist (or just to fawn over the protagonist) than genuine companions.
Other times, the anime was confusing, too boring or took me a while to finally get into it. For example, So I'm a Spider, So What? It took me a bit to get into because I wasn't interested in the going on of her classmates. Every time they appeared I was like, no, go back to spider girl because I wanted to follow her journey the entire way, not these people who I have no interest or real attachment to.
Hmm, I'm not going to remember all the reasons I listed an anime low on my list, the few I do is because they were the ones I recently watched. Of course, over time this list may change because some anime have only one season so far, and could have something in it later on that could make me like it less or like it a bit more.
I know I won’t be able to keep up with every new isekai release, so I won't be making another list like this in the future.
