The Wisdom of the Black Pigs
In the heart of the Philippine countryside, where the sun rose over the lushed green fields and the morning mist rolled across the hills, there was a farm known as "Payapang Bukid", which meant "Peaceful Farm". This farm was special, not just because of its fertile land or the clear stream that ran through it but because of its residents: a herd of black pigs called "the native pigs" or sometimes referred to as " baby damo" or "baby iloko".
The black pigs of Payapang Bukid were no ordinary pigs. They were native pigs, hardy and robust, with sleek black coats that gleamed in the sunlight. They roamed freely across the farm, foraging for food, basking in the shade of mango trees, and splashing in the cool stream. The farm's owner, Mang Isidro, was proud of his pigs. He treated them with the care and respect they deserved.
Mang Isidro had been a farmer all of his life, learning the trade from his father, who had learned it from his father before him. He knew that his black pigs were Intelligent animals, capable of understanding commands and forming bonds with humans. He would often talk to them as he fed them or when he checked on them in the evening, and they seemed to understand.
One of Mang Isidro's favorite pigs was a large sow named Matilda. She had a curious nature and often followed him around the farm, sniffing at his pocket to see If he had any treats for her. She was not only Intelligent but also protective of the younger pigs, watching over them as they played in the fields.
Mang Isidro treated his pigs with kindness and without bias. He believed that every living creature deserved respect regardless of its size or Intelligence. He never forced the pigs into uncomfortable situations or used harsh methods to control them. Instead, he used patience and gentle guidance, knowing that they would respond better to a kind touch than to fear.
The black pigs thrived on Payapang Bukid, growing strong and healthy under Mang Isidro's care. They were valued not just for their meat, which was sought after by local chef and markets, but also for the role they played in the farm's ecosystem. They helped till the soil, breaking it up with their snouts, and their waste enriched the earth, contributing to the farm's sustainability.
As the years passed, Mang Isidro's farm became known throughout the region for its high-quality pigs and ethical farming practices. People came from neighboring villages to see the native pigs and learn from Mang Isidro's approach. He was happy to share his knowledge, emphasizing the Importance of treating animals with respect and understanding.
The black pigs or the native pigs of Payapang Bukid were a testament to the bond that could form between humans and animals. They showed that with proper care and a little patience even the simplest creatures could thrive and contribute to the greater good. And Mang Isidro's story reminded everyone that true peace and harmony on a farm came from treating every living being with dignity and compassion.
I hope this story resonates with you and captures the essence of the relationship between farmers and their animals.
Thank you for reading. Until next time, salamat and see you soon.

Funny to see Tommy as a Pinoy but makes some sense. He's not very tanned/dark so it means he is either rich or highly educated because they're not out farming for a living. Can imagine him with the dudes at a family party getting wasted and singing loud karaoke with his rock background.
LMAO yeah see it works then bc I like to think G-Dad is loaded in some sense. He’s got infinite money but doesn’t spend it too much on himself and instead prefers to spend such on his kids.
Ofc he’ll spend a bunch of money so Tommy can go to a big fancy college. And sure he’ll pay the extra money so he can join a frat, why not?
he probably gifted him a yacht 🤷♀️ i like to think Tommy was raised in wealth but he didn’t turn out spoiled or greedy, nor does he really brag about it. It’s something that he’ll bring up in conversation if mentioned but he gets confused why ppl are surprised.
#ask reply?#not really#also Tommy being a frat boy is canon I think? so like#he got all that negative energy in college lmao#lmao but thank you for bringing that up

media ranting my old friend i have another entry for you today:
i was scrolling through tiktok because i was looking for a specific remix of a song (pls tell me i'm not alone lol) and i came upon a little debate re: marilag by dionela and hold on why are people whining about a song being too in-depth or "oh i can't even hear him pronounce his lyrics he should make them simpler" and while i do not have the extensive knowledge of rnb / pinoy rnb i do have the extensive experience of a listener SO
One: the song is too in-depth. and that's a bad thing? sorry, but it is subjective i guess because i enjoy a good song that i can digest. if millions of fans (including pinoy fans) can sit down and analyze the entirety of taylor swift albums, they can handle dionela.
Two: he should pronounce the lyrics better or better yet, simplify them. again, subjective. if it helps the song that way, sure, but i doubt he'll change up his style because he wants to gain more fans. dionela gives off the vibe of putting out music he puts soul into and believes in, not just because he's out here farming for views and attention. i was in the trenches for like six albums where ariana grande "ehhgngjh" and harmonizes every other verse and i Loved it so this is also no problem for me.
honestly, i think it's the lyrics thing that left me feeling icky because why aren't people interested in breaking it down, breaking down the concepts of emotions and feelings in his songs. there's a certain vibe behind their structure and it feels sincere when you listen to them that i just can't help but dig in and feel disappointed that other people want it simplified. i don't. give me complex anytime!
anyway i never found the specific remix of marilag that i want and have resorted to just vibing to the og. stream it yall hehe

Laing
This recipe is different from the ones that I've posted before. This is the first time that I will be showcasing a vegetable dish. I think this deserves to be shared, as it was one of the specialties of my grandmother. Here's a short story. Back when my grandmother was still alive, whenever she went to the farm, she always brought some "gabi" home. Every time we have some "gabi", she always cooks this dish called "laing". I remember the first time I tasted this food. I was really surprised, as it didn't look that appetizing to me the first time that I had seen it. But just like they said, "Don't judge a book by its cover". It tastes really delicious, making it an immediate favorite of mine. But, it has been a long time since the last time I tasted this food. So, I’m going to share my grandmother’s recipe so that I am not the only one who can enjoy this wonderful food.
How to make Laing
Ingredients
2 ounces dried gabi leaves
1 medium onion diced
½ cup of shrimp paste
3 cloves of garlic minced
1 kilo of ground pork diced
5 pieces of labuyo chili chopped
1 medium ginger diced
2 tablelspoon pepper
1 teaspoon of salt
3 cups of coconut milk
Instructions
Combine the taro leaves and stem, coconut milk, pork, shrimp paste, ginger, onion, chili, and garlic in a cooking pot.
Heat the pot and bring it to a boil.
After this, gently stir to mix the ingredients.
Lower heat, cover, and cook until the pork is fully cooked and theleaves have softened.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Serve and enjoy!

During a "Pista ng Pagkain at Kabataang Pinoy" festival held by the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (Searca), KWH founder Muneer Hinay said that households can significantly contribute to solving the Philippines' food security concern.
"I realized that even a small child can actually propose solutions to the pressing problems of food security," said Raaina Hinay.
That has been true for his family as his daughter Raaina jointly put up KWH's micro urban garden in her school, Catalina Vda de Jalon Memorial School in Barangay Tumbaga, Zamboanga City. Raaina was only 9 years old then — three years ago.
Agriculture and technology
Now KWH not only has a joint urban farming project with Raaina's school, it has partnerships with a host of other institutions who have the like mind to entice the youth that agriculture is a profitable venture. As an incentive to kids, they are able to bring home and eat what they produce and also get a commensurate pay for their efforts.

The Importance of Filipino Stories: Celebrating Filipino American History Month
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/e1fa4d1901b1a23b10a0318622b4f669/9e90def01646b0f2-18/s500x750/4998c2f821600b3434ecf84f4e53b6eda8b344b8.jpg)
October is Filipino American History Month. With more than 4.2 million individuals of Filipino descent here in the U.S., we know there are at least 4.2 million stories to cherish and celebrate! Today’s story comes from Josie Gepulle, our fall 2022 Editorial intern and proud Filipino American. It wasn’t until I was in my second year of college that I got my first reading assignment on Filipino American stories.
At my university, I was taking a history course entitled “American Radicals and Reformers.” Halfway through the semester, I learned about Larry Itilong, a Filipino migrant laborer who went on to lead the five-year Delano Grape Strike in California and later co-founded the United Farm Workers of America.
I’m pretty sure my jaw actually dropped hearing about this. An actual Filipino American made his way into the history books, one who had a profound impact on the labor movement.
That’s also when it really hit me: there was a lack of Filipino stories in my life.
I grew up in a small suburban Texas town. I was the first and only Filipino my community saw, so I don’t really blame anyone for their ignorance. It was frustrating, however, to receive several comments like, “Are you sure you’re Asian? You don’t look like it at all.” or “Where is the Philippines anyway?” I didn’t understand at that time because I’m proud of my heritage, but what does that mean to a world that doesn’t even know you exist? The most recognition I’ve gotten is from veterans recalling war buddies or travelers who visited Manila once.
I learned the history of the Philippines from my dad, not school. The Philippines, it seems, had no place in the story of America, despite being one of its former colonies. Even the mainstream media barely acknowledged our culture and our community. Any reference to the Philippines seemed to only refer to Manila and how the language was Tagalog. I couldn’t relate to that. My parents are from Bacolod, a city in central Philippines, where the community spoke Illongo. The narrative America wanted to tell about the Philippines, as limited as it was, was not one I could fit into.
It took me a long time to identify as a Pinoy writer. That same year at college when I learned about Larry Itliong, I attended a special event where I heard Jose Antonio Vargas, the famed journalist and immigration rights activist, and openly undocumented Filipino American, give a talk about his book, Dear America: Notes from an Undocumented Citizen. He, too, was a storyteller and writer, just like I wanted to be.
I finally realized I wasn’t alone. I didn’t need to be the author who put the Philippines in the history book. Several writers already did that for me. Carlos Bulosan wrote the famous America Is in the Heart, establishing the Filipino American perspective in literature. Then there are the writers of today, like Elaine Castillo with her book America Is Not the Heart, a clear callback to Bulosan. While Filipino Americans may have different interpretations of their identities, these stories are very much in dialogue with each other.
Each story, including mine, is only a small piece in a much larger puzzle. My own perspective that only represents a tiny fraction of Filipino history. The Philippines is made up of 7000+ islands and has 120+ spoken languages. We have our own history and mythology that existed long before the Americans came and long before the first colonizers, the Spaniards, arrived as well. While colonialism has tried time and time again to erase our stories, remembering our traditions and history is how they live on. We don’t want these stories to become forgotten simply because they’re left out of school curriculums. However, I do have to take a moment to be grateful for virtual spaces, especially those for writers. While my family is no longer the only Filipino family in my city, it was online where I met my very first Pinoy friends. Together, we traded experiences, laughing at the little tics that our families share. That, too, is an important part of the story. My friends and I aren’t famous, but aren’t those cherished moments together part of our experience as well?
And well, NaNoWriMo is the perfect time to explore your own stories, isn’t it? I remember being drawn to the challenge a long time ago, when I was a tiny middle schooler who felt so lonely in the giant world. NaNo made me believe that my story truly mattered, not just to everyone in the Philippines and America, but to me, the person who all my writing is eventually for. There’s no way I, or anyone for that matter, can accurately describe the story of every single Filipino, let alone Filipino American, out there. But you can talk about your story. Personally, I want to write characters who speak Ilonggo or grew up the only Filipino in their class. Maybe your characters will speak Cebuano or Ilocano. No matter what, Pinoys will get to be main characters! They’ll have grand adventures or share quiet moments with their loved ones. We’ll share our culture, our heritage with the world.
Together, our story will be told. Dungan ta sulat!

Josie Gepulle is a longtime NaNoWriMo fan, spending her teenage years lurking on the YWP forums and procrastinating her novel writing. She loves hearing the unique stories that come from writers all over the world and believes every voice is worth listening to. She enjoys the many different forms storytelling comes in, doing everything from analyzing TV shows to drawing her favorite characters. She can be found scribbling notes or doodling with an array of pens by her side. If you’d like to learn more about Filipino American History Month, here are some more sites to explore.

HEY HI I HOPE YOU'RE DOING GUCCI AND DRINKING WATER BUT ANYWAYS im respectfully asking,,,,,,,since u finished playing error143,,,,,,will u start writing for Micah Yujin? Im asking for a friend (im the friend)
— micah yujin boyfriend hcs
say no more. this post got Very long and i could still easily make a part 2. um. opens reqs just for micah for a while.../hj? actually /srs. gen srs. maybe just for the next 2/3 days . hit me up i guess. LOL? and i definitely suggest joining the discord server bc lots of people share stuff too!! i don't go by nia outside of tumblr but let me know if ur in there and we can find each other😘 ALSO go check out the patreon and kickstarter!!! Deserved.
first of all i just want to say i associate crush on you by soul fro and dum di dum very strongly w him (the guy Is singing at a girl though !!) it's vry cute like i just imagine him singing/singing it together. please. can anybody hear me. hello?
^ singing songs together. dancing together. come on. like. making time by rex orange county. habang buhay by zack tabudio (JENNY SAID MULTILINGUAL MICAH WHO'D CALL YOU MAHAL KO! i can't understand tagalog but pinoys...we win.)
he sings you to sleep whenever you ask and also just,, randomly. if he finds out your favourite soft-ish song he will Sing It
gets matching stuff all the time. plushies, clothes, charms,, etc etc. some of them are serious and some are done ironically (im he's / she's / they's shirts . also you know that old lockscreen thing that was like,, "what are you doing looking at his phone?" LOL.)
^ also you know those best friend necklaces. LOL
Listen to me. grabs your face. Micah making custom emojis of you/you and him. CAN YOU HEAR ME? HELLO?
would most definitely recreate Those couple photos. you know the meme ones
would do a tiktok trend if you asked (prank him w any trend you want). the one trend that isn't couple specific i can see him doing is when someone is like,, "hey, want some ___?" and person b says "no thanks." and person a turns around,, but when they turn back person b has their mouth wide open and is standing right in front of them DO YOU KNWO WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. anyways.
would send you "this could be us" "us?" memes
^ sends a meme that says "oooh you wanna kiss me so bad" from across the room and watches as you open it . when you make fun of him and (inevitably) come over he goes "Oh? did you want something, angel?" YOU ARE SO ANNOYING! KISS ME!
loves finding out new things about you every day since.. you meet so quickly... mentally checks everything he can use for gifts or something
Celebrating Micah's Birthday :) all he wants to do is spend the day with you,, doesn't matter what you do he'll be happy. share a cake with him and get a thoughtful gift and he'll get very emotional (thinks about how he cried eating his first cake on his 19th because he had no one to share his success with. my eye twitches and my fingers claw at the table)
YOUR BIRTHDAY? come on now. he's going to figure out the perfect plan based on what you want. "what? did you doubt The micah yujin would know exactly what you'd love? you wound me, angel." but he makes sure to have time set up where it's just you two so he can be all sappy and alone with you
many different scenarios with gaming. if you don't have a lot of experience micah will happily teach you and won't really make fun of you until later. if you compete he calls hacks if you beat him. would say you have to do whatever you want if he wins. it's like, a kiss or ordering food LOL?
playing minecraft with micah means finding the perfect balance. a relationship is 50/50 one person is decorating and farming and the other is mining and bringing home the goods (who's to say who's who)
if you played like, Raft with him there are So many moments where one of you threatens to leave the other on the island. the distress on his face while he's yelling about the shark please
you and skrunkly are his lockscreen/homescreen For Sure. not even a question.
if skrunkly picks you over him at any point he dramatically gasps and falls the floor clutching his heart or something . "Skrunkly...How Could You?" "This is the ultimate betrayal..."
^ considered a partial win for him if he gets to take pics of both of you
^ WILL you match outfits w skrunkly. yes. do it. family photo?
for the love of god. matching moon and star necklaces. listen to me.
wants you to show him around town !! he came all this way, won't you show him your favourite spots? :( goes around and makes "welcome to our daily vlog" jokes (said by girl who does the same thing)
if you want him to meet your friends/parents he sorta,, "wow, are we getting that serious now?" and has a teasing smile but he's sweating a little i think. he'll be Fine. seriously he's extroverted and charming in his own way but wow
would walk up and jokingly hit on you as if you don't know each other. uses the cheesiest lines he can think of obviously
^ if anybody says you two look cute together he does Not let it go. why are you grinning so big. i will cry rn
lots of pranks. they're silly pranks don't worry but there are pranks for sure
getting happy meals together for the toys. i won't apologize. (girl who has the sonic and minions happy meal toys And boxes on one of her desk)
since it's micah's first relationship he really truly wants to try so many things with you. you get to be his first kiss!! first to do cheesy couple things with!! he is so happy!! oh my god!!!!
if one of you is going somewhere alone he'll always make sure to find you to say goodbye. umm. hear me out. micah doing the thing where he places his hand at the back of your head to bring you close and kiss your forehead. can you hear me be honest
first time he sees you wearing something that's his micah's brain goes WEE OO WEE OO eyes shoot out of their sockets train whistle error screen malfunction
micah would ask you to feed him as a joke but if/when you actually do his face heats up and he gets all flustered. when he notices your hand ready to catch any food that falls and he's like oh Wow.
goes to your phone and saves himself in your contacts as something like,, "the beautiful amazing handsome perfect love of my life forever" and yours is "loser" when you manage to get his phone LIEK.
micah would do movie marathons with you. i know he'd watch all the barbie movies with me and i know he has very strong opinions about them I Know He Does LISTEN TO ME!
don't trust this guy around a shopping cart. are you going in? is he going in? you don't know.
don't make jokes about him sending you money because he most definitely can and will.
not a headcanon but thank god micah is not afraid of bugs btw. people who don't want to kill them or bring them outside,, he is here to save the day. he has to. also i did just imagine him taking a bug out then sharing facts he knows about it as if you aren't 3 strides behind him
sorry if you're short. he's putting things on high shelves and making you ask for help. if you decide to just crawl up or use a chair he panics a little What if you Fell?
micah making a playlist of songs that remind him of you
micah being like "...babe, did you get a virus on your computer?" and when you go look the screen just says I <3 U or something. Okay. Can You Relax. get away from me GET AWAY!!
i just think you should do little affectionate things like taking his hand and kissing his knuckles/fingers. then just walk away. it's delightful
this is So specific to a joke me and my irls have but micah would roll and claim characters on your mudae wishlist then hold them over you but ultimately gift them. especially if you're like US and you have PROBLEMS! (will become violent /hj i'd hit him with a pillow)
sometimes when he's awake for some reason and you're not,, he'll just watch you and maybe trace random shapes on your arm/play with your hair if he can . he loves you a lot btw did i mention that. did you know that. did yo
#error143#micah yujin#<3 anon#🧾nia.answers#tjis will be. invisible for sure.#but its OK!#it was fun to do

30 year old virgin can suddenly hear people’s thoughts, discovers the most popular guy in his office ahs a mad crush on him. Has to decide whether he wants that or not. Possibly one of THE most adorable BLs ever.
Be Love In House: I Do - SMALL ARTS FIRM & CAFE IN TAIWAN
Office set BL that is a bit frenetic and contrived but weak seme/uke dynamic, super broken soft slow burn romance, adorable side characters and no trigger warnings, which is unusual for Taiwan. I really loved this one, but the plot is naff.
1000 Stars - THAI COUNTRYSIDE
The uke character *was* in uni but he drops out to teach kids in rural Thailand and falls in love with a park ranger (basically) it's one of the best things we have ever gotten from GMMTV. And one of the best written and filmed, most consistently acted, and least problematic BLs out of Thailand.
Wish You: Your Melody in My Heart - KOREAN MUSIC INDUSTRY
Production assistant/pianist sees and falls in love with a busker who might be the next big star. Tries to help him make it happen. You want the movie version of this drama, trust me.
Lovely Writer - HOME & DRAMA SET IN THAILAND
Seme character is in uni but doesn’t act like it. Revolves around the shooting of a BL drama (and has things to SAY about THAT) along with the writer of that drama and the lead actor who, it turns out, has wanted that writer for a really long time.
Gameboys the series - HOME IN THE PHILIPPINES
Lockdown romance about an out bisexual who pursues (virtually) an online relationship with the cutest disaster gay to ever pick up a controller.
Manner of Death - ON THE RUN IN THE THAI COUNTRYSIDE
A romantic suspense mystery story about a doctor who uncovers and investigates murder and the local mafia bad boy who tries to keep him safe, plus their adopted miscreant children and plants.
Nobleman Ryu's Wedding - HOME IN HISTORICAL KOREA
Fake relationship period piece about a boy who pretends to be his own sister and marries (what turns out to be) the man of his dreams. Very properly Korean, a bit stiff, but high production values for of Cinderfella meets 12th night.
Restart After Come Back Home - JAPANESE COUNTRYSIDE
Post college characters in atmospheric countryside setting, super under appreciated little gem of a film that’s beautifully made and acted, revolves around family home life and farming.
Honorable Mention

My Day the series - PINOY PASTRY OFFICE & HOME
Sky is a university student but this is about his internship at a pastry company where he meets and falls in love with his boss. No seme/uke dynamic but all the tropes and it’s very cheesy and sappy. I love this BL, but it’s very under appreciated because it’s a bit... MUCH.

You Are Ma Boy - CAFE & MUSIC INDUSTRY IN VIETNAM
I adore this quirky barrista meets idol cat/mouse romance, no student characters at all.
My Lascivious Boss - CAFE IN VIETNAM
Queerst BL ever, boy in drag meets and has one night stand with hot mess *straight* man who turns out to be his new boss. Then has to pretend to be his own sister to fool said boss, until boss figures it all out.

Long Time No See - MAFIA IN KOREA
I actually really love this one, it has a low rating because it’s technically not BL. Mature characters, hitmen assassins, start a relationship not realizing they are on opposite sides of a turf war. Or do they?
I created a My Drama List for these, there are a lot more.
(Here’s a much longer post with more recommendations.)
