Eden Seed - Herald AU

After six years on Rook, Eden leaves of her own accord in search of penance for her sins. She returns to her father practically on her knees, begging for a place. Joseph relents, believing her to be serious, and lets her go through both John and Jacob's trials. She passes with flying colors, having been quite literally made for this, earning her a spot among Joseph's Chosen.

When the latest "Faith" starts to wiggle out of Joseph's grasp, he enlists Eden to kill her in exchange for the Henbane. Eden becomes a Herald, taking over the region previously overseen by Faith and implementing her own set of rules.

The Angels are what changes most, the process for creating them becoming more clinical and in line with how Jacob and John get their soldiers ready. Angels are given their own torture scars and stripped of all individuality. They're taught the importance of stealth, meaning they can often be heard making inhuman calls to signal through the forest. (If you've ever played The Forest, think the enemies from that!) They're still human enough to use guns and knives, implementing war tactics against the resistance and the Deputy.

Elias' father died when he was young, leaving Margret with three young boys to care for by herself. She did what she could, but one person can't do it all, so Elias (12) found himself helping with the to younger ones often. Elias learned to cook large amounts good food efficiently, getting a job as soon as he turned 16. The parentification took its toll, leading to Elias getting in with a bad crowd. He worked part-time as a line cook, using the free time to sell drugs for extra cash. When he was 23, his friends said there was an 'employment opportunity' that offered anything he could dream of.

Elias came to Rook in search of those dreams but quickly realized the work was worthy of the payment. He was expected to keep the hostages in line and kill them if they got too rowdy. He was nearly killed himself until he demonstrated his skills in the kitchen. From then on, he was allowed to avoid the less fun duties of the pirates, in favor for cooking for them. He gets paid the same way as the rest of them, and he thoroughly enjoys his paychecks. On the rare occasion he actually gets cash, he sends it back home to his mom and brothers.
