#fantasy arachnids

I honestly prefer this design for mammalian arachnids over the usual D&D-style Lolth and whatever-her-half-spider-half-drow-followers-are-called-I-forgot style. With a human torso just sprouting vertically from the central point of spider legs in the usual spider arrangement, or from the top of a segment of a spider body. Instead. Centaur Pegasi that just weirdly act like spiders. Or maybe they have some exoskeletal plates, move their limbs by hydraulics (horses move weird anyway so whatever that fitd ok imo), and spin webs (they just, like, extrude their glorious flowy horse manes, which are sticky spiderwebs but also still glorious and flowy mmkay). Anyway the wings 100% go on the back of the horse part because a) this is the obvious solution to me, b) this way the weight of the person is balanced much better front to back, c) can you just imagine for one moment how absurd the centaurs would look while flying with those dinky little wings on their little human back, with the horse body just kind of drooping behind them and giving them the backache from beyond hell, d) wings on horse body matches pegasus and therefore feels even more natural even tho of course neither option would actually in reality be aerodynamic, e) wings on horse body just looks better, f) centaur pegasi can drape their horse-body-attached wings over their buddies' horse bodies like horse blankies, g) wings on horse body doubly seems more workable for carrying a potential passenger or backpack. If wings on human back, they might whap the passenger in the face, and if not the passenger would be weirdly drooped down behind the wings either everything else, h) if everything behind the human-torso-wings doesn't droop and instead somehow stays in the usual alignment it would look like a bad photoshop of a creature pasted haphazardly into reality. Tldr put the wings on the horse torso part, at the withers. The only acceptable reason to do otherwise is if the wings are not functional and you just want them to look angelic and groom each others' feathers or whatever. Maybe vestigial wings make more sense anyway. But imo all seeming sensicalness is illusory when it comes to centaurs.

If a centaur had wings, would they be on the horse back or the human back? Example/diagram included for clarity. I’ve been going back and forth on this for days

distracted by the fact this would give them 8 limbs, so by "centaur is an insect" logic this would be an arachnid

anyway i reckon on the horse back just so their poor spine doesn't have to support the weight of almost a whole horse while airborn

Syringe/Surgeon Spider (Venenum Kheirourgeon)💉🩸🕷️

"The surgeon spider has the ability to secrete a red poisonous substance from its syringe or stinger and is malleable enough to turn into strings with the help of its needle-like limbs (similar to how a regular spider would fabricate a web in order to catch prey). Interestingly enough this poison can be used in the medical field to lessen pain and various symptoms, it all depends on the dose. This creature has been observed to sew up its own wounds with these very strings (hence the name) and thanks to its intelligence and docile nature toward people has since been successfully trained into assisting others with surgeons." An Update!

Apologies for not posting for a long time. I have been pretty busy working with artists and writing! Not only have I fully written out how all the lineage abilities work, but I also have nearly finished the spell list, which consists of 105 spells! Not only that but soon (hopefully within 2-3 months) I will be running a one-shot for my alpha playtesters. Once they have all played it and given feedback I will release it as a one-shot for whoever would like to try it out! To finish out this update I also have some stickers available!!! Inktober Day 30: Violin

I could not possibly go a whole Inktober without Jodocaposting 😉 I don't know why, but in my mind, she plays the violin. This prompt kinda motivated me to finally get this idea out of my head and onto the canvas, and I'm so glad I did, cause I had so much fun painting this. Enjoy my spider woman once again. ❤
