My Fanfic Recommendations
So, since its been a while since I've done a little side thing, here's a fun one.
Like the title says; this is a list of fanfics I would recommend for hetalia fans. Its a mix of reader inserts and completed/unfinished works and various of 1p and 2p things.
Alot of these works are old and I have a couple more sites to scour through for my favorite fics to recommend. So, please enjoy this list and keep an eye on it, because it will be updated.
Feel free to contact me with your own recommendations. I would love to see more lists like this.
(And turns out there is a link limit for other sites so, use the titles and authors wisely. Or let me know the work around.)

Why I M O, Pokeshipping is dead. ( kinda hot take, sorry pokeshippers. )
So, pokeshipping. The very 1st ship in the Pokemon anime’s history. I personally am not a fan of it, I did watch the original anime, and I personally don’t like misty’s character. It was off putting to me.
Now as to what your here for, what killed pokeshipping. There are 3 main contributors to the death of pokeshipping.
1.) The length of time from when misty was replaced to now,
2.) Serena and Amourshipping
3.) The Pokémon sun and moon anime
The length of time from when misty was replaced to now. Now while this might not have been much of an issue if the other 2 bullet points didn’t exist, it has been over a decade at this point, since we last saw misty, meaning that we have a severe lack in character development, and that gives time for other potentially better ships to be created, which leads me to my next point,
Serena and Amourshipping. Possibly one of the biggest ships right now, (which at this point isn’t going to fizzle out anytime soon. ) With Amourshipping going so far, as to introduce a major plot point in ash’s story by having Serena be his childhood acquaintance, many other points that multiple poketubers like Catch ‘Em All Saul, bring up in their videos from years past, to the kiss, and even the writers basically confirming the darn thing.
Amourshipping Confirmed?
So at this point, ( unless they throw all that away, which please. Don’t. ) there is next to no hope of pokeshipping to ever become cannon, which is only further proven by my last point,
The Pokémon sun and moon anime. Now, this is honestly the iceberg that sank the ship, because Brock and Misty returned twice in the Sun and Moon anime, which I’m pretty sure was for let’s go promotion. Now this is where all hope is lost for pokeshipping because even though they returned twice, Misty had literally zero emotional moments with ash whatsoever. No pokeshipping pandering, no flashbacks, nothing. Here’s another video explaining that further.
They did Misty DIRTY!
Now while the only good thing to come out of the re-return episodes was Brock possibly finally finding a girlfriend,
Brock x Olivia
This was the point of no return for Misty and pokeshipping in general. Misty, even though she returned twice, in the most recent anime, had literally no development, and nothing to show how she grew as a character since her absence, her return seems pointless and devoid of substance, and with another ship still gaining popularity at an exponential rate, I’m sorry pokeshippers, but,
It’s time to pay your respects, and move on.
RIP pokeshipping
1997-2023
Why IMO pokeshipping is alive and well (Kinda hot take, sorry to my brothers and sisters)
So, pokeshipping. The very 1st ship in the Pokemon anime’s history. I personally am a huge fan of it, I have watched the original anime and I personally loved misty’s character and the way she developed post johto journeys and how she became a strong gym leader and changed the entire landscape of her water type gym. It was captivating me.
Now as to what your here for, what kept pokeshipping still running and healthy. There are 3 main contributors for the livelihood of pokeshipping.
1.) The length of time from when misty first appeared in this show.
2.) Pikachu's pikachupi
3.) Mezase Pokemon master
The length of time from when misty first appeared in the show to now. Now while this might not have been much of a proof if the other 2 bullet points didn’t exist, it has been a year at this point, since we last saw misty, meaning that we have tons of character development, and that gives time for many of us fans to draw a lot of cute pokeshipping fanarts and write fluffy fanfics and that also gives the fans an idea about what plot they can include in their next pokeshipping fanfictions, which leads me to my next point.
Pikachu's pikachupi. Possibly one of the cutest nicknames for Misty right now, (which at this point isn’t going to fizzle out anytime soon. ) With the name pikachupi going so far, as to introduce a major plot point in ash’s story by calling Ash as Pikapi and Misty as Pikachupi.
And many other points that multiple pokeshipping fans bring up in their posts from the point where Misty fished out Ash in EP 1 to the point in MPM 02 where she again fishes him up with her lure tied around his arm, with Misty winking at him and even the fans got more energy to gush at the darn thing.
So at this point, there would always be more of pokeshipping fanarts, fanfics and amv's for eternity which is only further proven by my last point,
The Mesase Pokemon master. Now, this is honestly the cherry on the top of the pokeshipping ice-cream that was heartily enjoyed by pokeshippers, because Misty and Brock returned in the Mezase pokemon master anime, which I’m pretty sure was for giving a proper farewell to Ash and the OG Trio. Now this is where all pokeshipping energies got amplified pokeshipping because even though she returned after years, there were a lots of pokeshipping moments, a reference to her lure, the red string of fate mention etc. Now while also the good thing to come out of the MPM episodes was Ash reuniting with Cilan and his old Pokemon and Pidgeot coming back to his team.
This was the point of return for Misty and pokeshipping in general. Misty, returned after 3 years in MPM and had a lot of character development, and everything to show how she grew as a character since her absence and her delightful chemistry with Ash (also defeating Ash the WORLD CHAMPION!!) her return seemed to fill with positive energy and full of laughter and smiles and with the new fanfictions and fanarts still made at an exponential rate, thank you pokeshippers, it's time to make more fluffy pokeshipping fanarts and fanfics!!!
Viva la pokeshipping: 1997-eternity
#pokemon#pokeshipping#The last time I'm responding to him#Also your stupid reviews on fanfic.net aren't going to do shit to the pokeshippers#I'm going to enjoy reading Echidna's long form fic and the sentence fic now.#Also pokeshipping week is coming up soon! I'm definitely going to feast myself on the pokeshipping fanarts and fics during that time#while you can just waste your time on this shipping wars

Death Note Fic Hunt
Trying to track down an old fanfic I remember reading years ago. Might have been posted on fanfic.net and never made it to Ao3?
The basic premise is that Light gets a second chance at life. Ryuk gets bored again and makes a deal with the shinigami king for Light to be pulled out of Mu and reincarnated, on the condition that he must save as many lives as Kira took in the original timeline. Possibly the incentive is that if he succeeds he will have lived a life free of the Death Note and thereby avoid going to Mu after he dies again, and the punishment if he fails is that he becomes a shinigami or something??
So Light is reborn back in time as a baby but with his adult intelligence and memories of the previous timeline. (This fucks up his relationship with his mother who is extremely unnerved by her Weird Wrong Baby.) He relives his early childhood but as soon as possible he establishes himself as a detective and starts solving cases under the pseudonym Kira. This catches the attention of L, who becomes obsessed with trying to discover the true identity of the new challenger to his title of World's Greatest Detective. Light fucks with him by sending gifts to Wammy's House.
The fic was incomplete last time I read it, and I think it ended right around when Light and L were about to meet in person for the first time.
Scenes I remember:
Sachiko listening in horror from the hallway while baby!Light teaches himself how to talk. His real first word is 'Kira', but a few days later he pretends his first word is 'Mama' and she's like 'Why is my fucked up baby pretending to be normal?'
Light as a toddler or very small child approaching one of the detectives from the Kira Task Force (can't remember which one - possibly the guy who dies really early) and saying something like 'I'm a super genius who knows everything about you and possibly I have some kind of supernatural powers. Come work for me and tell no one.' And the guy is like 'What the fuck? Okay I guess.' and then he becomes Light's Watari figure, helping him set up his secret double-life as an international super detective.
At one point Light saves people from a burning building, because he remembered that people died there and every life he can save counts. This prompts him to realise that eventually he will have to save Misa from dying also, which he is annoyed by because he knows it will cause him problems in the future.
Ryuk is hanging around to keep track of how many lives Light saves and at one point he asks if Light is still planning to join the police. Light is like, 'No I'm doing enough detective stuff in my secret double life, for my day job I'm probably going to go into medicine, maybe become a cardiac surgeon' and Ryuk finds that hilarious.
L keeps getting gifts from Kira and it freaks him out because they're weirdly personal and no one is supposed to know who he is or where Wammy's House is. One year he is hanging around Wammy's in late October, half expecting Kira will send him a birthday present. Nothing comes on October 31st and after a few days L is still sulking about it, so Watari is like 'Okay, it's time to move on now' but then on November 5th an arrangement of flowers for a funeral arrives and L is like 'What is this supposed to mean???'
Please let me know if you remember this fic or know how to find it!!

20 Questions for fic writers
Thanks @wellbelesbian for tagging me. Such fun questions! Tags below the cut.
How many works do you have on AO3
68! Wow, I did not realize this.
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
134,335
3. What fandoms do you write for?
The Carry On Series aka Simon Snow fandom aka Snobaz
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
When the Ink Dries
Can I Change My Mind (this one blows my mind, how it continues to stay at the top)
Namaste Away
Every Lover Has A Little Dagger In Their Hand
We're So Starving
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or Why not?
I try to, but I'm very bad at it. It's something I need to work on.
6. What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
We Were Pity Sex, Nothing More and Nothing Less It doesn't even pretend to be kind.
Also, I'm Right Where You Left Me It's short, but cuts right to the bone.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Most of mine do have a happy ending (when I go sad, I go hard). If I had to choose a few, I suppose:
Where Did the Party Go?
Believe
Namaste Away
8. Do you get hate on fics?
No. Had a few recommendations on how to tag a few works, or to make it more user friendly but everyone has always been very kind with those suggestions. The Carry On fandom is a really good fandom.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I'm slowly dipping my toes in that water. I've posted a few works that have smut, but I'm still very tentative about it. I don't know what kind really. Regular?
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
I do not
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I'm aware of
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not to my knowledge
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I have not, but I'm not opposed to it.
14. What's your all time favorite ship?
Snobaz, hands down. It's the one I come back to every time. My comfort ship.
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I have 2 WIP currently and both of those will be finished. My other WIP not on AO3 are just sitting in my google docs, where no one can see them shivering in the corner, neglected.
16 What are your writing strengths?
Oof. I'd like to think I'm good at dialogue.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Descriptions and setting a scene. I'm working on it though, and that's the important bit I suppose *shrugs shoulders in Simon*
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
Not something I've attempted. I won't say I never will, but I will probably not unless I absolutely have to
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Somewhere, in the depths of fanfic.net are my abandoned Twilight fics. And that is where they will stay until the death of the planet.
20. Favorite fic you've written?
I have a few and when I'm questioning why I think I should be doing this at all, I read them to remember I started because I wanted to write the stories I wanted to read.
When The Ink Dries - I started this fic waaaaay before I ever posted it and it was the reason I decided to participate in my first Carry On Big Bang. It's my fic first born.
I'm Not A Pitch - This fic popped my AO3 cherry. I posted it before I could second guess myself. It's full of errors, but I wouldn't change anything about it.
Vibe Check - I wrote this in a few hours when I was feeling silly and it is still one of my favorites
Who Wants Ramen? - My friend and I giggled endlessly when I plotted this one out.
You Can Call Me Babe for the Weekend - I spend a lot of time listening to music and plotting out the story that a 3-4 minutes song can tell. 'Tis the Damn Season was an immediate movie in my head and as soon as I could plot it out and put it on paper (so to speak) I did.
And last but not least Sugar, We're Going Down Swingin - This is pure self indulgence. I got into hockey, I wanted the boys to be hockey players...bam, here's a fic with almost no hockey in it, but sometimes they talk about it.
I'm don't know who's already been tagged, so sorry if I double up:
@facewithoutheart @imagineacoolusername @artsyunderstudy @shemakesmeforget @ivelovedhimthroughworse @ionlydrinkhotwater @rimeswithpurple @aristocratic-otter @cutestkilla @blackberrysummerblog @nausikaaa @supercutedinosaurs @nightimedreamersworld @valeffelees @iamamythologicalcreature @shrekgogurt @ileadacharmedlife @martsonmars @you-remind-me-of-the-babe

Thief in the Avatar’s Estate: Chapter 3-We're Not in Yokoya Anymore
Characters: Rangi and Kyoshi and Yun (plus whoever appears in Rok)
Pairing: Rangshi
Summary: Yun decides to head off to bed after his travels from fighting with the Fifth Nation. But as he does, he and his bodyguard, Rangi, hear strange noises coming from Kelsang’s room. When they go to investigate, they are surprised by what they find.
(Canon divergent AU-What if Kyoshi was raised by her parents?)
Prev chapter
Other Sites: AO3 and Fanfic.net
A/N: *cough* And so begins the real trials of Rangi’s high blood pressure uwu My main reason for wanting to write this fic, I want to put her through the ringer (lovingly).
Also, haha *sweating* I’ll update “Hunt for Kyoshi” soon I swear. :’D ;w; Maybe this weekend, if not like Monday hopefully I can have the next one ready.
____________________
Rangi felt cold. She tried to move her body, anything, but nothing would happen. She felt like this had happened to her before, but she couldn’t place it where.
“Hey! Wake up!” a voice from far away yelled at her.
I am awake.
She was so woefully awake. Even though her eyes only showed darkness.
It was actually a bit of a pain, she’d much rather be asleep. But as she tried to, she felt something tugging, and some of the cold and heavinesss left her body, though she was nowhere near as warm as she wanted to be. The voice rang out again.
“Wake! Up!”
I don’t want to. Rangi groaned. Why can’t I sleep? What would be so wrong? It’s not like I have anything I needed to do-
A sharp pain rang through her. No! Yun! I need to protect Yun!
That’s right, how could she forget her one honor bound duty? Rangi tried to move parts of her body, but they just felt too heavy.
Another pain rang through her. And then another. And another. It hurt, but like oil to a squeaky wheel, it helped her start moving again. She dragged her body towards the voice.
“C’mon, Firecracker! Breathe!”
Rangi tried, but found she wasn’t able to. She felt like she was miles away from her body. But Rangi wasn’t going to let that stop her. She started running as fast as she could towards the voice, even as her body began to feel heavier. Even as the waves of pain grew and grew. She kept running until-
Rangi’s eyes flew open, she could feel her lungs greedily ripping into the air she inhaled. Her eyes came face to…..something, some mass in front of her, clamping down on her mouth. A jolt of panic flowed through her as she bit down before pushing at the figure.
“Ahck!” it yelled falling to the side.
Rangi moved to follow up her attack, but stopped as she doubled over and heaved out copious amounts of water that had taken residency in her stomach.
Ah….drowning. Rangi cursed to herself. Of course the sensation felt familiar, she’d gone through this training in her academy and junior corps days.
“Ah! You bit me!” the figure complained, it was the same voice Rangi heard while she was under. “First he throws up in my mouth, and then you bite me! Argh, this is just injury to insult!”
Rangi wretched out some more water before finding the strength to look up. The figure in front of her was the same woman from before. However, her makeup had become runny and smeared, reds and blacks bleeding into the once mostly white face.
Rangi would never say it out loud, but the botched makeup made the thief look more intimidating than she had been when Rangi first encountered her.
Rangi balled her fist on the ground, trying to get her bravado back. “Where’s Avatar Yun?!”
With blood trickling down from the thief’s mouth, she gave Rangi an unamused look, before pointing behind her. “You mean that guy? He’s fine.”
Rangi looked behind her, and sure enough, there was Yun in the same sorry state as her. On the ground, puking his guts out.
Rangi sighed in relief, at least she hadn’t let the Avatar die on her watch. She wasn’t about to go down in history as the ‘worst Avatar bodyguard’ just yet.
She turned her attention back to the thief sitting in front of her. She didn’t seem to be paying the two any mind, focusing more on wringing her black tunic and undershirts out of any excess water. Rangi saw a brief flash of the thief’s stomach as she raised her shirt up, and quickly looked away when she saw her well defined abs. She fought a hard battle against the flush on her cheeks, but ultimately lost the war.
“Why….” Rangi growled out, getting the thief’s attention. “....why….why did you-”
“Save your lives?” the thief cocked an eyebrow at them, a lopsided grin slowly growing on her face. “I just felt like it.”
“But why?” Rangi yelled louder, strength slowly returning to her. Her mind whirled at the possible reasons, but none of them seemed to be in their favor. Perhaps the thief had a trick up her sleeve that could put them at her mercy?
The thief was taken aback briefly, before pure confusion rested on her face. “Because I…..wanted to? Like I said….I just felt like it. I mean I was already saving myself and thought ‘Why not? What’s another two lives?’” The dumb grin returned to her face.
Rangi was shaking with anger. She was an idiot, how could she think she wasn’t still in the running for the ‘worst Avatar bodyguard in history’?! This thief had saved their lives, the Avatar’s life. Rangi had allowed it so that the Avatar would be beholden to some common criminal.
She couldn’t believe she’d messed up this badly.
“Ah,” the thief’s voice pulled Rangi’s rage from inward to outward. The thief, now savior, had their hand behind their neck as they cracked it from side to side. “Did you not want me to?”
Silence from the three hung heavy in the air. The thief was the first to speak up again.
“Huh, I guess we can still fix that issue,” she said darkly, her head casted down as she got up. Making it impossible to read her expression.
The thief made their way over to Rangi, towering over her even just by crouching.
Rangi tried to muster up some fire, but she was still too tired and cold. There was nothing she could do except close her eyes and brace herself as the thief reached her hand out towards her face.
There was a painful flick to her forehead, and Rangi went from her crouching position to unceremoniously falling onto her butt.
“Tooooooo baaaaad,” the thief drawled out in a bored tone. “You’re just gonna have to live with it.”
The thief then stood up and began stretching her arms from side to side, not a care in the world.
“I swear, you firebenders are sooooo uptight with your honor and glory and blah blah blah. Is being saved by someone really so bad that you’d rather die?”
“It’s not that we got saved, it’s that you saved us!” Rangi retorted, an embarrassed blush creeping onto her face.
“Huh? Got something against earthbenders?” The thief gave her a dubious look, eyes darting to Yun for just a moment.
“It’s because we’re in your debt!” Yun interjected, rubbing his temples. He’d finally recovered enough to speak.
There was a long pause as the thief’s face slowly changed in realization.
“Oh! Awesome! So like, can you let me go? You don’t need to arrest me anymore, right?” She grinned.
“NO!” Rangi and Yun both exclaimed.
“Well what’s the point of you being in my debt then?” the thief pouted. She turned to leave but was stopped by a wall of earth that Yun bent in front of her.
“Wait!” Yun yelled. “You can leave, but return the items that you stole first.” Didn’t exactly seem like a fair trade to Rangi, she’d rather arrest the thief too but considering their sorry state….. She held her tongue.
The woman turned to them with a sheep goat’s grin “Whaaaat? Oh c’mon now. After I just saved your life? Don’t you think I deserve a reward? You were both verrrrry heavy!”
“Our lives wouldn’t have been in danger if you didn’t steal in the first place!” Rangi retorted.
The girl rolled her eyes. “Fiiiiiine.”
“You’ll give us back what you stole?” Yun raised a questioning eyebrow. They didn’t expect it to be that easy.
“No,” the girl scoffed. “I’m keeping it, but I’ll let you tag along with me.”
“Us tag along with you?!” Rangi scoffed. “You’ll be lucky if we let you tag along with us!”
The girl laughed. “Fat chance! I doubt you two have any experience in the Spirit World!”
Rangi and Yun grew stiff. Did they hear her right? Spirit World?
It was a place no normal person would usually go, the domain of the spirits. A place parallel to their physical world. Only people with high spirituality like monks, or nuns, or even the Avatar would go here willingly.
There had been stories, however, where people would be spirited away, but that was less likely than a monk going on a spiritual journey.
Rangi and Yun took in their surroundings, it didn’t look like a forest near a lake they’d ever seen. It was surprisingly colorful and bright even in the dead of night.
Balls of little light seemed to float endlessly around them, like fireflies. The lake they’d been pulled out of shimmered with a shine they’d never seen before. And the grass they were laying in was softer than any fabric they’ve ever had the pleasure to touch.
There was so much beauty around them, and they couldn’t enjoy any of it. The realization they were trapped in the Spirit World. This was a place you astral projected to, not physically traveled! At least, they didn’t think so? How were they going to get out of it?
“Hello? Earth to Captors? Everything ok in there?” the thief bent into their view waving a hand in front of their faces. She’d grown concerned the way their faces paled and object horror seemed to be permanently plastered onto them.
“Ok?!” Yun got up to his feet, terrified. “No we are not ‘Ok!’ None of this is ok!” He failed his arms in synch with each word he spoke for extra emphasis.
He spread his arms around showing off their surroundings. “We are trapped in the Spirit World. Famous for having no exit and no bathrooms!”
While Yun battled with the panic inside him, Rangi battled with both despair and rage.
“It’s my fault,” Rangi gripped at her knees as she knelt on the ground, “If only I’d just captured this thief then-”
“I have a name you know!” the thief pouted.
Rangi looked up, rage winning the war inside her, a vein pulsing in her forehead, “That. Is. Not. The. Issue. Here.”
“It is to me,” the thief kept pouting.
“The issue is we need to figure out how to get out,” Yun said while massaging the bridge of his nose.
Rangi mirrored the soothing motion, except she chose to rub her temples. Then she remembered what the thief had said moments ago. What was it again? ‘I doubt you two have any experience-’ That implied she was one with experience.
Rangi turned to the thief, desperate hope burning within her. “Wait, have you been here before?”
“Oh, yeah. I stumbled in here once when I was like seven or something,” the thief shrugged nonchalantly.
The two looked at her like they’d been casted a lifeline.
“So you know how to get out?!” Yun exclaimed.
The thief tapped her chin thoughtfully before declaring, “Nope! I don’t really remember to be honest. ”
And the life line sank just as fast as it had appeared.
“How….can you be so calm?” was all Yun could muster to the strange woman in front of him.
“Eh, we’ll work it out,” she waved her hand as if to bat away his question. “I mean….it did before!”
“What do you remember from last time? Like how did you get here?” Rangi tried to jog the thief’s memory, not willing to give up hope. Even if it was a fool’s errand.
“Well I was exploring a nearby forest, fell, went through some weird mini portal thing-kinda like what happened today. And, well, I was here. Well, not here per se, somewhere in the Spirit World though. ”
“And, escaping?”
The thief shrugged, “I think the reverse happened, found a portal, and popped back out into our world. I was only in here for what felt like a week, but my family claims I was gone for six months.”
Six months?! Yun and Rangi screamed in their heads. The world could descend into chaos if the Avatar didn’t return by then.
“We need to get back before then! Bad things will happen if I don’t get back!” Yun exclaimed.
“Ok, well, if y’all are done floundering about like a bunch of yellow-bellied gopher fish, I think we better start exploring our way out of here!” The thief pointed towards the thicket of the forest with their thumb.
Rangi and Yun looked at each other and nodded. This was their best bet. Follow their guide out of here, they could think about capturing her later. Considering the thief could’ve killed them earlier, they were at least safe knowing they wouldn’t be attacked by them any time soon.
“Alright, we’ll follow you.” Yun walked towards the thief with his hand outstretched. “Let me introduce ourselves: I’m Avatar Yun, and this is my bodyguard Rangi.”
“What’s your name?” Rangi asked in an unfriendly manner, arms crossing over her chest.
“Ah my name is K-wait I know what you're doing. Want me to reveal my identity so that you can find me more easily later, huh Mr. Avatar?” The thief ignored the handshake, opting to put her hands on her hips and smirked at the two.
“No, that was not my intention at all! We just want to know what to call you,” Yun gave the thief a sweet smile, trying to backtrack his real intention. Guess the thief wasn’t as dumb as she looked.
“Or would you rather us just call you ‘thief’?” Rangi glared.
“Fine, fine, you can call me Lee.” She gave them a small bow.
“Lee? You don’t look like a Lee?” Yun crossed his arms and cocked his eyebrow. Of course she’d choose the most common name in the world.
“And you two don’t look very competent, but you don’t see me questioning you.” Lee returned the gesture with a sweet smile, well…as much as sweet as she could manage with her ever growing scary makeup.
Lee turned around with a shrug, and started marching towards the forest, unaware of the struggle happening behind her. Yun fought hard to restrain Rangi, as Rangi attempted to grab Lee from behind and throttle her.
“She can’t talk to you like that! You’re the Avatar!” Rangi angrily whispered.
“I know, but we need to get along if we want to get out of here,” he whispered back. “Just relax, it’s not like it could get worse.”
Lee stopped at the edge of the forest entrance. “Oh by the way, I’m really not just some run-of-the-mill thief,” she turned her head back to the pair and gave them a smile. “I’m a daofei.”
_____
A/N: I feel like a big part of Kyoshi’s-I mean LEE’S ;U- personality in RoK/SoK was imprinted on her by her foster dad/Kelsang (and Jianzhu sadly as we see that struggle inside of her). So I think here, she’d have Hark’s personality more.

And uh.. actually forgot to mention that please don't get so pissy if I get inspired cuz it will take forever to explain the story if its a fanfic or on doc and comic--☝️🤓💀
Ok no, let me take this serious for once.
If I ever make a comic or document related to the AU with its info and stuff, including the story/summary, would that make people easy for them to read in case they don't have Wattpad or Fanfic.net and A03??
I need to know because I'm aware half of people don't use those websites meanwhile the others are still begging me to explain it to them but I mean..
You guys are not gonna be angry at me for that right? Even if half of the summary or info may sound fucked up and shit, the story will soon be released in the future and I don't know how it's gonna come out

20 Questions fo Fic Writers
Thanks for the tag and allowing me to procrastinate @jesuisici33 and @welcometololaland
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
15
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
90,518 which seems insane to me. I'll definitely be at over 100k by the time The Weight of Grief is finished.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
911 Lone Star now, but have written for MCU, Teen Wolf, Hawaii 5-0, CSI, and Harry Potter.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
It's all my old fics because they've been around so long! But Silence and Gloom is inching it's way into top 5 territory soon.
Words and Sounds (we're falling together) my very first Teen Wolf fic
For the Record my second Teen Wolf fic
Mea Aloha my very first Hawaii 5-0 fic that was a birthday gift for someone
Meet You on the Other Side another Hawaii 5-0 fic that was won in an auction and I was given a prompt to fulfill.
This Means Something another Hawaii 5-0 fic
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I always do now. I want everyone to know how much I appreciate every comment. I used to not because someone had made a post once that responding was just a way to fake out readers that you had more comments on your fic than you really did. But I got over that haha.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I don't think I have one? I like happy endings. They at least all end hopeful. My angstiest fics are probably To Be Okay because it deals with the aftermath of rape. And then The Weight of Grief.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Probably Green Eyes, Blue Skies because of the reunion scene.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I haven't on AO3, but at the beginning of the summer I was dealing with some anon hate, but I just delete and block.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yes, a little. I don't feel like I'm very good at it and I've only ever written one fic where it's the main focus.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I haven't, but I daydream about them a lot haha.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Way back in the fanfic.net days, but not anything recently.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes and it was so fun and I can't wait to do it again! It was with @whenshereads and it was I'll be here if you will only come back home
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
TK/Carlos and Derek/Stiles
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I have so many Teen Wolf wips that will probably never be finished.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Ugh...I don't have any...maybe dialogue? That's what I get complimented on the most.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Oh everything. I'm terrible at expecting everyone to know what's going on inside my head, but not helping them get from point to point. Also, if I get tired of writing a scene I'll just end it.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I do it, but sometimes I just write it all in English because I worry about anyone that can't read the language being taken out of the story.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Nothing anyone here would know...
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
Oh this is hard. The Weight of Grief has required the most skill and is really making me work hard, so I appreciate that. But then I had so much fun writing Green Eyes, Blue Skies because it was purely a fun idea that I really wanted to read, so I wrote it myself.
Open tag to anyone that wants to participate! Tag me so I can get to know you!

tried to find some that you didn't get asked!
🍓🌻🛼🎲🪲
These are all great questions!!
🍓 ⇢ how did you get into writing fanfiction?
Sweet baby Ivy stumbled into writing fanfic after discovering fanfic.net and diving into some rather questionable Harry Potter stories. My pairing choices back then weren’t the best—they mostly involved Hermione and various adult men.
🌻 ⇢ tag someone you appreciate but don't talk to on a regular basis
Too many people to name. There are a lot of followers and mutuals that I only speak to through reblogs or sporatic DMs.
🛼 ⇢ describe your latest wip with five emojis
🛻🌌💋💍🍑
🎲 ⇢ what stops you from writing more in your free time?
Sometimes I overthink my writing.
When I read the work of my talented mutuals, I realize how much room I have for improvement. There are times I feel like my fics come off as juvenile, and I find myself relying on the same phrases/words repeatedly. I know there’s more I can do to elevate my writing and add greater depth.
The only way to do that is to keep writing and growing.
🪲 ⇢ add 50 words to your current wip and share the paragraph here
I added more than 50, ha. This is for a little Tyler Owens drabble.
“I’m perfect. This is perfect, Tyler.” “Mmm, I’ve got to keep you happy, or you might start thinking there are better options than me,” Tyler says, pulling the fleece blanket up and gently rubbing your arms. “Oh like those Storm Par guys? Scott’s kinda cute,” you tease, delighted when Tyler huffs and gives your leg a playful tap. “I’m just kidding. I’ve only got eyes for you,” you add, holding up your hand to admire the modest diamond ring he gave you weeks ago. He grins. “You’ll be an Owens soon and then you’re stuck with me.” “I’m looking forward to it,” you promise.

The Official Site for
"The World's Translated Thus"
by Abyssal
(Update November 2023) This site was born out of necessity and to future-proof a lot of fandom work. Back in the late 2000's, the fanfic known as TWTT was uploaded variously in fanfic.net, Archive Of our Own (AO3) and LJ, as well as a PDF through a file sharing site.
Fifteen years later and due to various circumstances almost none of the uploads remain extant (as of November 2023 it is being re-uploaded into AO3) .
There are PDFs floating around in various degrees of completion, and probably under different names. Several years and technological improvements buried the original files so deep in my Dropbox it was a struggle finding them again.
In the next few months the repair of the old fanfic will be completed and uploaded to AO3. (Please click link for details - expected completion is early 2024).
COMING SOON:
Complete AO3 Upload
Upload to Wattpad
Upload to RoyalRoad
Links to Kindle (.mobi) and eReader (.ePub) files
An up-to-date PDF! (some people still love that format)
Maybe links to other StarOp fic that have no relation to this one

Besides that, I feel like antis forget that there are other alternatives that DONT allow the shit they complain about. Yes, it's still censorship and I think it's not cool. But at the same time, why don't they use Fanfic.net, Wattpad, or hell, even Quotev???
And even with this point, antis still have the option to make their own version of AO3. Its open source! The coding is meant for people to be able to reuse it and understand how it works! They have the resources available to them to create their own fanfic/archive site. AND CREATE THEIR OWN RULES AND GUIDELINES FOR USERS TO FOLLOW! However, it does make me feel that if they were to do this, then they may realize how fiction cannot be defined into two boxes of being "good" or "bad".
There are so many nuances with fanfic as soon as AUs come into play, that's my first takeaway. Their perfect website would, ultimately, fail due to the intricacies of fiction and whose opinions their guidelines for posts would need to be based on. Is it only based on what's depicted in cannon? Would a college smut AU be allowed if the source depicts characters as minors only? Would a vampire AU even be accepted, considering that it would include power imbalance and gore? Would smut be allowed, AT ALL, if certain kinks are depicted? Would smut just be banned entirely?
These are things I don't think antis have even bothered to think about simply because it doesn't fit into their narrative rhetoric. It also speaks volumes about their laziness to actually do anything other than complain and bully people imo. I wouldn't call all anits lazy and whatnot, but I haven't actively seen any anti actually make the effort to think about these things or to make their own space. They just want to take the easy road and say that everyone else is the problem, never questioning their own logic and critical thinking skills
Good luck! I look forward to seeing yall tear each other apart in the process

Soon given the recent asks is wiess slowly coming around to jaune. I honestly don't know if your setting her up to be the fourth girl that likes jaune or just trying to set them up be actual friends abit with some awkwardness on their part. (also please don't make yang the fifth Nothin against dragonslayer but there's alot of girls already since you kinda flip flop on whether Reese likes jaune or not too )
Oh yeah no worries, I have a hard limit for myself for number of Jaune love interests for each year. I understand the pitfalls of too much shipping when in the end, these stories are not going to even be really about that. There's going to be some girls and boys throughout the story that are either going to just lose interest, become good friends, or even successfully start a relationship with Jaune but it just doesn't work out. That'll free up some more space for any other potential romantic or even just a sexual flings for Jaune to explore.
As for Whiteknight, I don't really intend to explore a romantic relationship between them within this series outside of one sided crushes. Nothing personal against it, it's a sweet pairing and I read a whiteknight fic here and there. But the thing is, it's done plenty of times over. There's always at least one fan art of it on the reddit boards, and as of posting this, there are currently nearly 200 stories with Jaune x Weiss Pairing in it on fanfic.net alone. So if you're hoping to see some concrete White Knight material within this AU, there is plenty of other options out there, you can't take a step through the RWBY Fandom without tripping over this ship it's already so popular.
Lastly as for how I'm handling lore and character relationships within this blog should be taken with a grain of salt. When I start posting the main story very soon on fanfic.net, it's going to be obvious that there are some differences here and there between how the story turns out, and what I actually post here on Tumblr. A good chunk of things on this Tumblr should be considered VERY LOOSELY Canon, these posts are not engravings in stone. They're just my honest thoughts on questions and possible situations the characters could find themselves in, and pretty much me bouncing ideas for smaller details within the main story off you guys which I DEEPLY appreciate. You all have no idea how much help you have all been in helping organize my thoughts.

The Hunt for Kyoshi: Chapter 2- Revelations
Characters: Rangi and Kyoshi (plus whoever appears in Rok)
Pairing: Rangshi
Summary:
“What are we going to do?” She asked steely, still not looking up from the ground. She was ready to uphold her duty, or at least, what remained of it. “We need you to capture Kyoshi,” Jianzhu instructed. “Capture?” “Yes, we need to set an example of an Avatar murderer,” Jianzhu responded, oh so matter of factly again.
(Canon Divergent AU- “What if Rangi wasn’t there when Kyoshi ran away, and Rangi had to hunt her down?)
Prev chapter
Other Sites: AO3 and Fanfic.net
A/N: Man….this is actually my 2nd AU for Kyoshi I was working on (the other one I have 6 rough chapters done). But this one took such a hold on me I had to put the other one on hold (now let’s hope that 3 other AUs don’t take ahold of me too). TT0TT Sorry this took so long, I swear I was writing my lil’ heart out for this. TT0TT
Anyway, I found a post where it states that the distance between Roku’s island and Senlin village was about 504 miles (811ish km). Between Yokoya and Chameleon Bay, I’m giving it like….800 miles (1287.48ish km), if you run along the sea.
_________
It felt like the ground shook around Rangi, maybe it did. Maybe her scream was so powerful it became an earthquake that matched the one in her heart?
Regardless, her scream had alerted her mother and Jianzhu, who came rushing out.
“Rangi?! What’s the matter?” Her mother yelled.
Rangi whipped her head around, and made the two adults freeze in their tracks, they bore a horrified look on their faces. A faint part of Rangi wondered what expression she was making, but that part died out as quickly as it came into being.
She barreled past them, clutching the little red ledger in her hand. She needed to get out now. She had wasted enough time.
She practically ripped the stable doors off its hinges, scaring the stablehands inside. They promptly hightailed out of there, as she scanned the room. There was one lone ostrich horse.
She briefly wondered why there was only one, but figured either the storm or Kyoshi had scared the rest off. It didn’t matter, and she quickly packed what prepackaged supplies she could onto the small creature.
She made sure to place the ledger into her personal rucksack, threw the bag over her shoulder, and then mounted the animal.
Rangi started taking off, but had to stop right outside the doors, so as not to run over her mother and Jianzhu.
“Rangi! What is going on?!” Hei-Ran she put her hands out, trying to take the reins on the steed herself.
Rangi backed the animal away, and went around the adults slowly. “You were right. You both were right!” Something akin to a sob radiated in her voice.
“What do you-? Rangi if you’re going to act like this I won’t let you-”
“SHE’S A DAOFEI!” Rangi cut her mother off, hurling the revelation into the adults’ faces. “She was a daofei this whole time! She really did use us!”
_______
She snapped the reins, and sped past the two. Ignoring their yells to come back. She barreled past the gate, down the road, and soon out of Yokoya.
Rangi’s eyes focused on the forested area ahead as she tore down the dirt road, ignoring Qinchao Village’s entrance as she passed. Her goal was to get to Gaoling city before nightfall. From there, she was going to avoid the Si Wong desert and snake her way alongside the Eastern Sea.
Her jaw clenched as tightly as she held her reins, she tried to make herself smaller, more streamline so that her steed would go faster.
Now that she was on the road, she was unfortunately left with her thoughts. Kyoshi’s journal weighed heavily on her back, all of Kyoshi’s secrets laid bare. At least, for the pages that weren’t ruined.
Judging by the info, Kyoshi was a plant, having rooted herself there long ago. Her mother was an ex-Air Nomad, having founded the daofei gang The Flying Opera Company with Kyoshi’s father.
Bile seeped into Rangi’s mouth. Another renegade Air Nomad? The very idea alone was inconceivable, even when Jianzhu had told her Kelsang was a renegade she had a hard time swallowing it. But now that she found Kyoshi’s journal, the hard pill was finally and fully swallowed.
And twice in a generation at that! It couldn’t be a coincidence. How often did that happen in the Air Temples? Or was it just that Kyoshi’s mother, Jesa, and Kelsang were outliers. Were they in cahoots together?
Rangi bit her lower lip in deep thought, she deduced the latter seemed the most plausible route. Though, she wasn’t against suggesting to Jianzhu to see what he and the other nations could do about investigating any possible corruption in the Air Temples.
Pulling her thoughts back to Jesa and Kelsang, she started to formulate the hypothesis in her head. Jesa had dropped Kyoshi off about two years prior to her “official” meeting with Kelsang and Jianzhu.
Enough time for the child to establish herself in Yokoya, to make it seem like any meeting with her would be a coincidence. To be able to make contact with Kelsang without it seeming too suspicious. All while Kelsang was in Jianzhu’s ear, whispering ideas of setting up shop for the Avatar in Yokoya.
But why Yokoya? Jianzhu had listed his reasons long ago, but what would Kelsang’s be? Surely it involved making infiltrating the Avatar Estate easier. But, again, what was so special about Yokoya?
Why such a dingy little town? Rangi’s eyes widened in realization. That was it, the size. There weren’t that many people, but most importantly, there weren’t that many orphans. In fact, there had only been one in the past nine years. Kyoshi.
And Kelsang was there to play the role of the benevolent monk who would help the helpless orphan that no one cared about. And the size of the village made it easy to know exactly who everyone was.
Something gnawed at Rangi, this all seemed like such an overly complicated longcon. Wouldn’t it have just been easier for Kelsang to just ask Jianzhu to hire someone? Wait until Kyoshi was older, and then send a recommendation in?
Rangi absentmindedly tapped a finger on the reins, until the realization hit her.
It had to be overly complicated, because Kelsang knew Jianzhu wouldn’t do that. One of the rumors she heard early on was how hard it was for Kelsang to give Kyoshi a chance as a fourteen year old. And this was after Kelsang had been planting Kyoshi into Jianzhu’s thoughts for the course of nine years.
The nine years where they searched for the Avatar, where Kelsang would visit the village to “check up” on Kyoshi. Where Jianzhu would visit to make negotiations with the villagers. Jianzhu had known of Kyoshi that entire time, and still almost didn’t hire her.
Kelsang was aware of his old friend’s overly cautious attitude, and expertly navigated it.
Rangi grimaced to herself, as the picture was becoming more and more clearer. But she still had one thing that didn’t make any sense. It was Kyoshi’s childhood and her treatment during that time.
Auntie Mui had told Rangi of what Kyoshi’s supposed childhood was like as she grew up in Yokoya. How she’d been mistreated by the local villagers, left abandoned to starve and die. To be treated worse than an animal. Rangi had even recently seen a bout of bullying happen recently to boot!
But with all these revelations, how much of that was true? Did Auntie Mui lie? Was she in on this treachery too? Possibly, but other servants corroborated her story. It was possible that those servants were also in on it. However, it was equally possible of them being lied to as well. And what of the villagers? Was their cruelty also a ploy?
How much could be lied about? A starving child’s body held more truth than any lie could. Had Kyoshi been a victim in all of this too?!
Rangi swallowed the burning lump in her throat and shook her head. No, she would not bleed sympathy for her friend’s murderer. It did not matter what hardships she grew up with, she made her choice. People with far worse had made far better choices.
She took a deep breath and kept going through the possibilities. Maybe no one lied, maybe her upbringing was that rough. But why put a child through that? Unless….it was an act?
Kyoshi’s father, Hark, was a man from a long line of actors turned daofei. Maybe Kyoshi was a prodigy actress? Even from such a young age?
Rangi almost laughed at such a silly notion, but she didn’t one hundred percent dismiss it. She moved onto the next, more digestible possibility.
Kyoshi was a child soldier. Of course, a five year old was perhaps pushing it. But Rangi had read about crazier stories in her time at the academy. To be honest, Rangi could see it, she did come from the capital nation of military brats after all.
Rangi recalled the inhuman feat that Kyoshi displayed against the battle of the Fifth Nation, pulling earth out of sea from two hundred paces. That wasn’t something you just did without special training.
The recollection of the memory caused Rangi to clench her jaw so hard, her teeth were at risk of cracking. She knew how to bend like that, but acted like a helpless child?!
Kyoshi had kept her ability to bend earth so hush hush, that no one on the compound was really aware of it unless you checked the staff ledger, like Rangi had done. Rangi remembered her trying to encourage Kyoshi into bending, into believing in herself. Unbeknownst that Kyoshi had been giving Rangi the go-around.
Yet another piece of Rangi’s trust was tarnished. Chewed up and spit out. Desecrated.
Rangi took multiple breaths to calm herself, lest she set her and her steed on fire with her own breath.
So Rangi's hypothesis was finally formed. Two renegade Air Nomads dropped Kyoshi off in Yokoya upon seeing it was the best location for their future deeds. After a long con, Kelsang was able to convince Jianzhu to set up a homebase there. They found Yun, and then…… well… killed him. But why wait two years? Opportunity?
Rangi pinched the bridge of her nose for a moment. She’d forgotten to ask Jianzhu about how the incident went down. She needed to get it together.
She would have to wait until she could send a messenger hawk from Gaoling.
_________
“Jianzhu informed me we might be expecting you!” Lu Beifong fanned himself. “We’ve prepared a room for you. For some reason he apologized in advance for my floors. Do you….know what he meant by that?”
Rangi glared at the man, she just wanted to get to her room and be left alone.
Lu Beifong gulped, but continued to attempt small talk as he showed his guest to her room. Rangi mostly ignored him, especially when he mentioned something about an upcoming party. “This is where you will be staying. Oh! And one more thing.” He gestured to his servant, who held a messenger scroll. “Jianzhu’s messenger hawk sent this message for you.”
Rangi took the scroll from the servant's hands and walked through her guest room door.
“If there’s anything you nee-” Lu wasn’t able to finish as Rangi promptly shut the door in his face.
She looked down at the messenger scroll that was for her and frowned. While it appeared closed, it was apparent it had already been opened once. Someone, most likely Lu Beifong, was trying to see what secret Avatar affairs were inside.
She took the message out and unfurled it. A small item fell out, it was Jianzhu’s seal.
The message contained benign pleasantries from Jianzhu addressed to her. Asking her to inform him on her vacation plans and so forth. Absolute bunk. At least, to the person who didn’t have the key. The only thing that wasn’t written in code, was in regards to the seal. He claimed it was in case she needed funds for her trip, and he wasn’t able to send word out ahead of time. She didn’t need a code to read in between the lines on that one.
She read through the contents twice, before deciphering the hidden meaning on her third read-through.
The letter’s real contents contained the story she’d failed to listen to before leaving. Apparently, Jianzhu had taken Yun and Kyoshi to a spirit to help identify which one was the Avatar. The spirit had identified Yun as the Avatar, and that’s when Kyoshi began the attack. She had killed the spirit in the crossfire.
Rangi grimaced at the sacrilegious act. Kyoshi really held nothing sacred, not spirits nor the Avatar.
Kelsang soon joined the fray, and he and Kyoshi overpowered the two with his surprise ambush. Killing Yun. And Jianzhu was barely able to get a lucky shot in, killing Kelsang, before retreating away from Kyoshi. Kyoshi had taken Kelsang’s bison and was now going to spirits know where.
Rangi tapped her finger on the desk as the final piece of the puzzle fit into place. Kyoshi and Kelsang didn’t enact their plan until two years later because they were waiting for an opportunity. It was no coincidence that Kelsang “revealed” that Kyoshi might be the Avatar when most of the guardsmen and master Amak were taken out by Takaga.
Between Rangi and her mother being away on business, and taking both Yun and Jianzhu to an isolated location, they must’ve thought their defenses were weak enough to strike. And they were right.
But maybe it wasn’t just about the defenses? Surely they had plenty of opportunities to kill Yun, when he was alone. Unless, Jianzhu was also their target!
It made sense, Yun was the Avatar, but Jianzhu held a lot of influence and power in the Earth Kingdom in his own right. It would’ve been more beneficial to strike them both down around the same time, so as not to deal with the other’s retaliation.
Rangi slammed her fist on the table. If only we didn’t go to that delegation! Then Yun could’ve-Yun might’ve-
A cold chill ran down Rangi’s spine. Would she and her mother's presence have been able to dissuade Kelsang and Kyoshi? Would they have still attacked? Would they have killed them too?
Rangi clawed at the letter on the table, and slowly let it burn away under her finger tips. She accidentally singed the wood underneath it in the process. Once she calmed down enough, so as not to break nor set fire to her brush, she began writing a reply letter to Jianzhu. In code of course.
She wrote about her hypothesis, who Jianzhu should look into for secret spies and corruption, as well as where she intended to go the next few days, and how she’d planned to communicate going forward. She’d be on the road, but she’d send updates via messenger hawk when she’d be able to.
Right when she was about to finish, a dark thought entered her mind. She added at the end to see if they could start the search for the new Avatar in the Fire Nation. Rangi may have failed Yun, but maybe she could still help the next Avatar. But that Avatar would need to be safe and secured before that could happen.
And with an Avatar killer on the run, the urgency of finding the next Avatar was of utmost concern now.
Once Rangi was done, she left to send the letter. On her way back, she checked her supplies along with her ostrich horse, and then went back to her room.
She rifled through her rucksack, and pulled out the journal. That journal, a coarse reminder of how little she knew about her once friend. But also a dark blessing, as the secrets it told Rangi gave her all the leads she’d ever need, she may not even need a shirshu to find Kyoshi.
She put the journal aside and checked the rest of the contents to make sure everything was in order. Her fingers brushed against something soft, and she gingerly pulled it out. It was the gold-dyed tassel from Kyoshi’s room.
Rangi sat silently in the room, and stared at the object.
______________
Rangi held the green tassel in her hand, as it dangled from the Earth Kingdom robe.
“Pretty,” a soothing voice whispered in her right ear. It made Rangi tense up, that voice always made Rangi tense up. She tried and failed to stop a flush running up her right side. Rangi turned to look at the voice, it was from her friend, Kyoshi. “Don’t you think?”
There are prettier things in this room. But Rangi couldn’t say that out loud. So, she just grunted, feigning disinterest. “I’ve seen better made ones.”
“Hm, I dunno, it seems well made to me.” Kyoshi moved her hand to take the tassel out of Rangi’s hand, to inspect it herself. Rangi tried to move her hand out of the way fast enough, at least without it looking like it was fleeing from Kyoshi, but she was too slow and felt their skin just brush past each other.
Kyoshi’s hand was smooth and soft, cool, and pleasant. It also bore the effect of feeling like a hot knife running along Rangi’s skin. Rangi tried to calm her aching heart by listening to Kyoshi ramble on about the object’s quality.
“It’s really soft,” Kyoshi smiled fondly at the tassel, as she flipped it back and forth, causing the fabric to swap and create a small flow of air. Kyoshi’s scent blew towards Rangi, and Rangi fought to keep an even breathing pattern. She smells like morning dew today.
Seeing the green tassel in Kyoshi’s hand, Rangi could see just how well the color worked with Kyoshi’s skin tone, and started to warm up to the object. “I think it’d look good on you.” She blurted out before she could stop herself.
Rangi had a brief moment of panic, before it was quietly tapered by Kyoshi’s snort and roll of her eyes. “Yeah right, it’d look horrible on me! I’d be doing a disservice to this fine cloth.”
No, you wouldn’t. Rangi wanted to protest. You’d look good in anything. But she didn’t dare speak her true thoughts, because she feared her tone would reveal more than she’d want it to. Something she feared that could ruin their relationship.
“What are my two girls looking at?” a cheerful voice came from behind. Rangi thanked the spirits that Avatar Yun had appeared; she was always afraid she’d lose herself around Kyoshi whenever they were alone.
“Aren’t you supposed to be training?” All that being said, she had a schedule to work with, she didn’t want him slacking.
“Yikes! Please I get enough from your mother.” Yun fake wept. “I’m on a break, actually. What do you have there, Kyoshi?”
Kyoshi and Rangi stepped aside, to show off the robe that had come in as a gift. “Oh that is nice, but it seems a little too long for me. You can have it, Kyoshi.”
Rangi looked at Kyoshi, gauging her reaction, but it was exactly as Rangi predicted it would be. “No, I’m good.”
Rangi fought back a small smile. Her friend was ever frugal, and not in want of anything. Almost to a fault.
“No really you can have it! I don’t need it, think of it as a gift from me!” Yun insisted.
“That’s great, but this is actually addressed to Master Jianzhu. So unless you want to take it up with him-“ she cut herself off with a small wave, showing there was nothing more to be explained. Then she went over and flicked Yun on the nose. “Anyway, a gift should be more sincere than that! You shouldn’t give things away willy-nilly because you want to free up space! It won’t feel special!”
“Tell that to the people who send me stuff,” Yun whined.
“Trust me Yun, I’m well aware,” Kyoshi waved her arms around, showing off all the mostly useless trinkets he’s gotten. She rubbed her temple absentmindedly. “Though I guess I should be thankful. As long as these gifts keep coming I still have a job.”
Rangi tensed up at the thought of Kyoshi being here one day and then gone the next. Not being able to follow her because of her duty. She wasn’t sure how she’d manage if that ever did happen.
Yun gave a pat on Kyoshi’s back, laughing. “Don’t worry about it, I’ll make sure you have plenty of work! I swear, as long as I live, I’ll always have a mess for you to clean up.”
Kyoshi rolled her eyes, “Gee, thanks!” Before laughing and giving him a playful shove on the shoulder.
Rangi stared deadpanned at them, before a smile of her own crept up onto her face, softening it. “Ok, ok you two! Enough ostrich horsing around and get back to work.” She started shooing Yun out the door. “I’ll escort you back to your training, Avatar Yun.”
“Aw, but I want to relax for a bit longer! You can go on ahead!” Yun whined, dragging his feet as Rangi all but pushed him out. To Rangi, the only thing that was worse than her being alone with Kyoshi, was Kyoshi and Yun being alone in a room together.
Rangi turned back towards Kyoshi as she exited the door. “Kyoshi, I want this done by the end of the day. I’ll be back in a few hours.”
“Don’t worry I will!” Kyoshi called back to her. Kyoshi could do it. She was always fast and efficient. It was one of the things Rangi liked so much about her.
“Just five more minutes!” Yun tried to sneak back in, before Rangi pulled him back out into the hallway.
“I told you! Back to training!” Rangi scolded him, giving him another push forward.
But as she pushed Yun, he crumpled into dust at her touch. She looked forward and saw the hallway was quickly being engulfed into darkness.
Panic shot through Rangi, she turned back to make sure Kyoshi was alright. But as she looked upon her friend, she saw her peaceful smile contorting into a sinister grin.
___________________
Rangi opened her eyes with a jolt, she was laying on the floor, the gold tassel still in her hand. Her chest was aching, and she could feel a stream of wetness sliding down her face. She wiped at her face, it was sweat, or tears, or both. She wasn’t sure, she didn’t care.
She got back up into a sitting position and grabbed the rucksack, and threw the tassel back into the bag.
She balled her hands into fist and pressed them into her eyes, trying to calm the shaking that was wrecking her. She cursed the spirits for making her relive that once benign memory. Making her see Yun alive again, making her wish for her old relationships back. Making her want Kyoshi’s comfort. And then twisting it at the end, it was as if it was designed to be overtly cruel.
After she calmed down, she got up and looked outside, it was still dark. She was only asleep for a handful of hours, maybe even not that.
She couldn’t go back to sleep. She didn’t want to go back to sleep, afraid she’d be faced with more debauched memories. So she began to pace until the sun rose up.
A/N:God the mental gymnastics hurt but I think I got through it. TT0TT At least for someone who is not thinking very clearly. Keep weaving your own idea Rangi, love to see an actual Evil!Kelsang sometime tho kfjsdjfa.
Next chapter will be a bit shorter I think, as it’s from Jianzhu’s perspective…...Oh wow actually it is very short….I might need to embellish it a bit. TT0TT
Anyway, the song Lose Control by Teddie Swims fits this fic I think (wasn’t my intention, just happened to find this song recently and realized it). I dunno give it a listen. 8U
