do you still indie? and if so, what are some tips you have for someone that wants to try it?? thank you!

i do still indie, but it’s very different than it used to be years ago. i would say the biggest advice i could give is joining a fandom or using a muse you’re passionate about. i’m fandomless, but joining a fandom already gives you an easy transition into the indie community. i know the marvel fandom is quite large, as well as anything related to the vampire diaries / teen wolf / supernatural / etc is popular within the tags. i’m multimuse and have plenty of orginal characters and fcs i want to use, although i try to limit myself to only to 20 that i know i wouldn’t mind using if asked for a starter or to plot. my muse for these characters are very high and know i could write lots about them whenever ( headcanons and ask memes are your best friend to keep muse alive ). if i chose to play muses solely based on their fcs, i’d lose muse so fast. another tip is to be open about you want! post your wanted plots and ships in the tags, let others know you want a certain pairing or a meet-cute to happen with your muses. you want to develop your character a certain way, so find people who’s willing to assist you on that journey. there’s likely someone out there willing to be the other half you need. you also have to make sure your rules are in order because it is indie and you have the option of who you rp with – if you like small text, gif icons, lengthy paras and no smut, include that somewhere on your page. the more detailed it is, the better it is to find your ideal writing partners. also don’t be afraid to reject someone you don’t think will be a good fit for you, writing wise! you’re allowed to be picky! post your open starters in the appropriate tags ( indie rp, independent rp, indie bi rp, indie gay rp, indie smut rp even though there isn’t any smut, etc … ) to gain attention and followers, which i do whenever i’m looking to write with somebody new, although not everyone uses tags and likes to keep to their own small circle – in that case, don’t be afraid to approach others ( such as the writing partners of your mutuals ) with ideas! making the first move is the hardest step, but once you get that first yes, it gets easier to speak to new muns and it’s just the beginning of a wonderful, new friendships.
