I feel like I haven't been very active on here lately so just a little update for those who noticed.

The last weeks of August a young fandom friend of ours passed away (lost her battle with cancer). Then a client of mine who I've worked for for over 10 years died in the same week (he was 90, a life well lived but it still happened quickly and rather unexpectedly) and last week a close friend lost his father to cancer as well.

There's been so much death around and it's made me very anxious. It also made me want to focus on life more and the people around me, because it can all be gone so soon.

I'm trying to get back into fandom and find the distraction there that I know I could use right now but it's not doing much for me lately. Even before this the calm in the hotd fandom and negative vibe after season 2 made me pull back a lot, I wish things were different. I'd love to be writing right now, to have something creative to focus on but I just don't have the energy or the inspiration.

I'm not giving up entirely though. Maybe I need some new fandoms to get me excited again.

A good thing is my favorite months of the year have started, so that is something that always makes me feel better and more energetic and something I will try to focus on and share on here (so expect a lot of autumn/Halloween posts I guess😊)

I so desperately want to be this big multi-fandom person but I've been hyperfixated on the same thing for two years (PJO) and before that was a five year long hyperfixation for a series I don't post or read about anymore cause it makes me feel icky. Also getting into new fandoms makes me nervous cause I don't know how the people in the fandom are gonna be and I won't know anything about it going in, and it's always a fandom that's been around for years and I feel weird about joining it so late. i sort of answered here and like i said i don't? really know what are the popular opinions about her but hm i guess that her heroic image shouldn't be taken at face value, that she isn't endlessly gentle and wouldn't put peace before her hatred for noxians, and what i'm yelling all the time about her being gentle and soft but also ruthless and violent because she is both.

also answered here! can't think of anything i dislike that was done with her other than sentinels of light event, but i do dislike some things aren't better developed, such as her stance on the vastaya and their conflict with other ionians. for someone so involved in everything ionia i think it's a huge oversight, even though i have my personal Thoughts and Opinions on how she feels about all that.

to answer the second question first, no, the fandom's opinion doesn't affect my portrayal at all. part of that is that i simply don't keep up with it, i guess? i've stumbled on plenty of Takes online that dislike irelia's new lore/personality post rework, but i don't think she's widely hated or loved? there's plenty of people who like her too. but yeah i don't tend to keep up with it so it doesn't affect my portrayal at all.

even if i did, though, it likely wouldn't affect how i write her, only make me more critical of fandom takes or extra defensive and love her harder if people hated her because that's usually what happened when i wrote characters people had many Opinions about ksanfksajdnf

Depending the timeline, degree of closeness & knowing how he goes re-assure Pamela & Judd in the caves while showing confusion & not knowing that he's feeling empathy, has his first line in TKAA being about how Elena feels & catering to her need ( while standing around despite his leg pain before going back to sit in his wheelchair) & how he gets angry at Evan for not looking strong & confident in front of Kyrie ( which is I think is a mix of toxic masculinity/projection)

One of Rufus main problem is how his suppressed empathy is also linked to the way he walks to the beat of his own drums & how insensitive he can be in gen. He doesn't pay attention how Tseng feels when he talks about Aerith in 7R & TKAA, he almost get killed in CoS by one of Kylegate's men as he made him feel belittled. However you also see a caring & more respectful side slowly him resurging too when he start to get attached or when the problem is put in front of him or someone is willing to stand up to him.

So with someone like Elena, who doesn't have a filter & is rather strong-willed & vocal about how she feels or the situation they end up?

I guess he would panic a bit while trying to act confident but fumble a bit due to years of isolation, problem solving side & how he usually tend to behave in a rather buisness like manner. But that's also what he might need to grow. Sometime people need to be sad for the sake to feel better & you can only just be there for them while they go thru that. I also imagine the goofiness resulting of his first awkward attempts to be there for her.

Heck I can even see him admiring her for it because yo, you let yourself show that vulnerable side of you without fear to be belittled for it or yelled at for it & you just bounce back from it?It would also mean a lot to Elena too, knowing how her own emotionnally neglectful family tend to behave toward her for any flaws she might show.

Added to that Rufus was never shown rejecting his own emotions or those of people around him too & a part of him seemingly knows people have to be comforted. It would be fun to see him putting in the work to learn to be & how to be emotionnally avalaible on a personnal level.

I'm using Elena for this example because it seems most fitting but how does Rufus deal with a woman who suddenly starts crying? Like, Elena seems like the type who just goes and goes and pushes herself until she's so tired she bursts out crying. But is completely fine five minutes later and ready to kick ass again (learning ur limits comes with age, its ok).

Does he panic? Leave? Get disgusted and demand she stop?

ok i know ur not -really- my dad lmao just let me cope. i lost mine, so you're stuck with that title now. anyway. i just felt like telling you how great things seem to be going for me rn (fuck i hope i don't curse it). i've been a fan for a long ass time, but i got into the GO fandom only last year, and in just a few months i feel like i've gotten so much better, both mental health wise and creatively. i'm a neat little bundle of depression, anxiety, autiADHD, BPD, and cPTSD. isn't that lovely haha. but hey, i'm also a writer. a poet. an artist. and a helluva burned out musician. BUT. ever since i've been hanging out here, i've been writing SO much more, i've been doing fanfics, and so many cool poems, and improving my writing skills so much. i started drawing again after like 2 years of not touching a goddamn pencil, and i just bought some paint and a canvas bc i wanna get back into painting again like i used to when i was younger. and also through reading other GO fics, i've felt inspired to play piano again, which was a great deal to me a few years back. and it's awesome to feel that spark again.

Good Omens has meant a lot to me since i first read it around 2015. but now more than ever because there's a whole community i can share stuff about it with and it feels great. i recently lost a close group of friends, one of my best friends to suicide, and well. my irl dad. and i've been feeling hella lonely for a long time. but i feel like i've been gaining that sense of community again through good omens. and i can't tell you enough how much it means to me. so, idk. i guess i wanted to say thanks for that. and also for being so supportive of trans/queer people. it means the world to me. so. thanks dad. ily

"Poison Counterpoison" part 1/3 For marichatmay2023 : Multimouse Next . . . Sooo yeah, a miraculous post. To be honest, when the prompts for Marichat May came out I was excited to get to work because they were pretty interesting. My fav bunch out of all marichat mays. However, irl issues came up and I had to take a forceful break I'm still partially into... and I also realised fandom wise that I have zero motivation to draw Miraculous at the moment.

This comic is kind of a proof to it, being on hold since last year, when season 4 was airing and my dissatisfactions with the series grew at very high levels. I used my own fanwork for aus to try keeping motivated and engaged, but the series is making me so tired and angry at how they are handling things, that I can't have fun anymore even while making my own stuff for it. Especially for the topics I addressed in the comic. Multimouse never brought up, communication issues subplots messed up in the worst ways, almost zero growth, moralism all over the place... And after being accidentally spoilered with leaks on twitter about the finale... I can't really find any motivation with how messed up I think it is. This is inspired on a fic I posted on ao3 "blame the rain". While the ending of that fic is much more sadder than the one for this comic and the characters here were changed a bit to be made more... Regretful and make the drifting off more realistic, the feeling is quite similar. . . Right now, only the movie is something I look forward and while I plan to finish my aus and headcanons in future, it won't be anytime soon. In this moment, I wish to give my time to things that makes me genuinely happy and have fun. However, I thank everyone for your support with my content and anyone who is genuinely interested in my Aus.❤️ . . .

Now I'm gonna be totally honest, I DO have a favorite twin and its Ingo <XDD But I also fully understand and support your point!

What makes Ingo and Emmet so fun and interesting to me is their bond! How they mirror each other, how they interact, their strength as a team! Sure separating them for the angst is great an all- but truly showing them together and more importantly as equals is where the good stuffs at!

This is also why I usually try to wrap up their separation arcs in my AUs, and also don't really enjoy reading any Legends Arceus content.. seeing Ingo alone is not only heartbreaking,, but its also just not as fin. Ingo and Emmet are stronger together :)

For 1, to keep with the theme, I would want to/have to make this cape IRL in order to add it to my sona. Now if the last 4 quilts have shown me anything? Its that I'm not super great at making quilts <XDD

If it was that challenging to make it on a smaller scale? I cant imagine how much trouble I'd have trying to make a full size one! <XDD Plus buying the materials... having to physically get up, go buy the stuff I need and make it. With these health issues I've been battling, that's not something I wanna do atm.. 😅Not to mention with how hot its been lately, I don't think I need a quilt anyways-

And then lastly- I'd have to draw myself with it every time! I like my sona being a simplistic blob that has minimal colors and not much of a model to keep too. I worry a quilt might take that away.. :(((

What is the Default Toa Form?

So, theory time.

It's a common fandom headcanon that the natural state of all Toa is the Toa Metru build. The reasons for this are varied (but if I'm honest seem mostly rooted in the fandom's love affair with the build that came to an end during the TTV Hagah Contest rather than any actual lore), but I personally disagree with this.

So I'm going to run through the various Toa builds in roughly chronological order (with one exception) and determine whether I think they're likely to be the true default form of a Toa.

1) Helryx

Well, right away, here's one that probably isn't.

Helryx is the oldest build lore-wise, newest IRL. She's also kind of a "Meta Build", aiming to look like a forerunner to the Toa Mata build we'll discuss shortly, not by directly evoking the way the Mata were styled (I would argue that a lot of the Mata's identifying hallmarks aren't present in her), but by being primarily composed of parts from 2001 and earlier.

However... this isn't what Helryx always looked like. Nor is the art that actually represents the canonised design.

The intent of the contest was to create Helryx as she appears in the present, after thousands of years of wear, tear and repair. In the text, she's referred to as disturbingly frail and alien-looking compared to what Takanuva expects a Toa to look like.

Even if she once looked like a default Toa, she doesn't now.

Orde, the only other known prototype Toa, never received a canon design (for what it's worth, I won't be putting a lot of weight on the DuckBricks Fanon Contest designs, since they're, well, fanon. So Bukkey's Orde won't be factored in here, besides me noting that he has a more Mata-esque body than Helryx does).

However, another popular headcanon is that Krakua represents another example of this generation of Toa, as Helryx would've been the basis for Krakua's transformation.

Perhaps this is what Helryx would've lookedd like when she was healthy and built?

Well, as much as I like that headcanon, and will continue to use it in fanon, probably not. Based on the evidence we have of Toa transformations, both in-story through Takanuva and the Toa Metru, the transformation is pretty much 1-to-1 with current forms. The Metru all get Lhikan's build exactly, except for specifically their height. Likewise, Takanuva's build is identical to Gali Nuva's, despite him not being a Toa Nuva. He didn't resemble base Gali, he resembled her current form.

If Krakua was transformed in Helryx's image, he'd likely be just as small, spindly, and hunched-over as she is.

For now, Krakua remains a weird outlier.

2) Mata

While not as common a choice as the Toa Metru build, the Mata build has also been suggested a few times as "Base Toa," largely because it's the original. It's relatively simple, and depicting any given Toa as a Mata build is easy enough and looks good.

(I honestly prefer it over the Metru build. It's easier to put proper hips, knees and elbows on a Mata than it is to un-fuck a Metru's shoulders and neck)

However, the Toa Mata are actually pretty much unique entities within the Matoran Universe, unlike any Toa before or after them. They are the only Toa who aren't transformed from Matoran or built by the Great Beings, instead being created by Artakha.

As a result of that unique method of creation, it's entirely reasonable to suggest that the Toa Mata look different to every other Toa in the world besides Takanuva, who was transformed in their image. They're the only canonical Toa whose bodies directly resemble the Great Spirit Robot itself, use these specific colour schemes, and have its specific design language in their construction.

3) Hagah/Mangai/Metru

By far the most popular contender for this title, but one I don't personally agree with.

We don't know whether the Toa Hagah were built or transformed, but we know they were assembled from across the Matoran universe and given new armour upon recruitment into Teridax's team, and we have no idea what they looked like before they were given this armour, beyond Bomonga presumably already having his huge limbs. Additionally, the Metru were all transformed based on Lhikan, so it's him I'll be focusing on mostly.

Lhikan was transformed and was trained at a Toa Fortress around 6000 years ago. We don't know what the other Mangai looked like (though they're popularly headcanoned as being Metru too, no canon look for them was ever settled).

However, my stance is that this design is not the default (Lhikan would've been transformed in someone's image), but rather a cultural one, a sort of 'uniform' armour style adopted by Toa during the height of their power, when the Toa Fortresses were active and Toa were commonly trained by other Toa. The image of a Toa would've become a consistent thing, and caused almost all transformed Toa to adopt it for a time, making it almost a new default, but not the original, until the Toa genocide and the subspecies becoming largely extinct caused things to diverge again.

This is, to be specific, not a counter-theory I'm proposing to the "Default Metru" theory in and of itself, but rather a part of a wider theory, explaining the commonality of the Metru build when I think that the last spot on our list is the real default.

And that leaves us with only one option.

4) Inika/Mahri/Cordak/Nuva 2.0/Glatorian

So yes, I think this is the default Toa build.

That might strike you as weird, considering that the Inika are only transformed at the beginning of the Ignition Arc, right before the end of the story in terms of the MU's timescale, and the Nuva adopt this design even later.

But let's consider a few points, shall we?

First off, the Toa Inika are the first and only Toa team we see who are transformed into their Toa forms, and do not have their appearance influenced by previous Toa. And while there's some weirdness with their heads and powers, their bodies seem pretty normal, and remain as such after their Inika weirdness is removed by the Ignika.

Secondly, we know the Great Beings made the Matoran based on the Agori, and the Toa based on the Glatorian. The first Matoran, the default form of a Matoran as it were, are the Av-Matoran, who use the same build as the Agori exactly. Should it not stand to reason that a default Toa uses the same build as the Glatorian?

Additionally, like the Glatorian, the Inika build and its derivatives have by far the most variation from individual to individual. True, we've never seen a Toa as weird as Strakk, but that doesn't mean that none existed.

Thirdly, there's one more character we haven't discussed thus far.

And this, then, is my smoking gun.

Lesovikk was a member of the first Toa Team, and one would assume based on that information that he's a purpose-built Toa. Well, he isn't. He's transformed. Given how rushed the Great Beings were at the end of the GSR project, I wager they found it easier to make a small number of Toa and then have them immediately transfer power to Matoran than it was to make thousands of Toa from the off.

Lesovikk may well be the first Toa transformed, and if he was, then his transformation would either be free of influence from anyone, or in the direct image of whomever transformed him, who could only be a default, purpose-built Toa.

"But wait!" I hear some of you typing already. "Lesovikk is a mutant, we have no idea what his true form looks like!"

Or do we?

Let's look at another character who was affected by Pit Mutagen in 2007, shall we?

This is Defilak, a Matoran of Mahri Nui. Like all the residents of Mahri Nui, he once lived on the Southern Continent, and later Voya Nui, after an ill-fated trip to Karzahni.

He used to be a weird little gremlin Matoran like his brethren from 2006, and transformed into the form above after being immersed in Pit Mutagen.

But here's the twist: Rather than simply mutating them directly from their twisted post-rebuild forms, the Mutagen actually reverted the Matoran of Mahri Nui to their original forms first, and only then started to mutate them.

This is Defilak's default form. This is what he always looked like, just with added weapons.

With that in mind, I think it's safe to say that Lesovikk is likely in the same boat: Reverted to his original form before the mutations started.

With the exception of the tube-like gill, I think it's more than probable that Lesovikk is mostly-normal still, and as such, is a very early Toa with a Mahri build.

With that in mind, I conclude that the default design for a Toa is a 2006-2009 build, with Helryx being the product of damage and repair, the Metru/Mangai/Hagah being a cultural design, the Mata being Artakha designs, and Krakua being a weird outlier.

(ooc: this is basically a me camp half-blood version to interact with other rp blogs and the fandom beyond my other rp blog @flipflops-n-bones whose character is a toddler as of now.)

I'm 15, usually - when my brain glitches or when I want, it can be anywhere from toddler to teen (ooc: IRL I'm a young adult as far as ID goes!).

I'm nonbinary, aro-ace or something? Generally some kind of confused queer. I use they/them or she/her as pronouns, default is they.

Uhm. I look like the little picture I put - on the smaller side, dark curls, blue eyes, headphones and hoodie.

I like: stories, books, music, stars, rainbows, owls, cats, hugs, hot chocolate, helping people understand things, windy days at the lake... in general I'm more of a quiet and cozy person, but with my friends I can be quite silly!

I don't like: loud noises, spiders, darkness, pain, social issues, thunderstorms and crowds.

I read a lot, and listen to music, and I like doing crafts like crochet, sewing, embroidery... Also I got some experience with medical stuff if you need any volunteers.

As far as weapons go I'm okay, I think? Learning Archery, and before coming here I was already learning some Karate and Kobudo (basically quarterstaff work) which is really fun!

My Godly Parent is Athena. At least an owl appeared over my head when I came here (before I passed out)... So I guess I'm good with thinking and concepts and like noticing stuff, and "putting the pieces together". At least when my brain cooperates.

Update: I can change into an owl and fly!! And with practice I'll be able to change just body parts into their owl versions (hearing, vision, claws, even beak i guess? - not wings though that's not how physics works). Athenas symbol or something.

And my age and bodily appearance can change based on mood / unconsciously or when I want it to, from like small child to teenager. We're not really sure why. If I find out, I'll tell you.

And since I got adopted by Jack I can change into a cat too!!

My mortal family... um. No. No thank you. No. I'll be here year-round, please. I miss my little siblings, but... let's say there's reasons I left.

I'm dealing with some issues body and brain wise - autism, disability, silly brain - but it's usually not too much of a problem. Like, i get dizzy and walking hurts so I'll sometimes use mobility aids like a cane, crutches or a wheelchair. And I'm confused sometimes and have a really bad memory, or talk weirdly, but yea. Just some chaos all around.
