Why I fucking hate "The Handmaid's Tale" comparisons to real life (ie "this means THT is going to come true!!!")
that was not an elected government in the story. it was a fringe group that slaughtered the entire US government and took control by force. which makes little sense if you think about it, but that's because it doesn't matter HOW the dystopia happened; it just had to be there for the fiction to make a comment upon the author's present.
Dystopia is never a future prediction. see above: it's always a comment on the present in which it's written
That is massively fucking insulting to women who have actually lived with systemic oppression. They don't have to take away your name or your ability to read and write or put you in a color-coded costume. That's not what violent systemic misogyny looks like, because we KNOW what it looks like.
Sarah Emerson (1762-1784) could absolutely read. Based on what was expected of wealthy girls in her era, she probably spoke at least two languages- English and some French -as well as having knowledge of household accounting, basic first aid, history, literature, drawing, music, etc. She was still married to a man in his twenties when she was fourteen, because he wanted the inheritance her parents had left her (property she owned because, yes, women COULD own property back then). His family disapproved- they called her "the child bride" -but it still happened.
Women in the 19th century who couldn't vote, were discouraged strongly from public speaking (as in, speeches, not conversation), who sometimes had no control over that property they could in fact own, if they married, did normal things. They laughed and cried and petted cute animals. They spoke their minds. They wore what they wanted, albeit with societal constraints. They had names and voices and they still had so few rights under the law.
Women who died from backalley abortions as late as the 1960s could read and write. They had jobs. They dressed in ways we wouldn't consider remarkable today. They voted. They had access to the fucking pill, for gods' sakes. And yet that still happened to them. And yet they still died because the government didn't care about their lives as much as clumps of cells inside them.
Shirley Jackson (1916-1965) was a popular author with a rapier wit that she wasn't above using freely, living once again in a time we'd recognize many features of today. she married a Jewish man over the objections of...well, most of society back then, really. the nurse still wrote "housewife" for her career when she said "writer," during hospital admission to deliver her daughter Sarah
and that's all without getting into the double-damnations of women who aren't white, who aren't Christian, who aren't straight or cisgender. women in non-western countries where some of those things- like clothing laws or movement restrictions -have come to pass, but still not all and not in that way precisely
It doesn't have to be The Handmaid's Tale. In fact, it usually isn't, historically speaking. It's Call the Midwife. It's Harlots. It's Hidden Figures. it's Carol. It's astonishingly normal, among normal women living relatively normal- even happy lives, many of them.
Don't insult their memories by implying that it has to be speculative fiction to be real.
#long post#misogyny#systemic misogyny#abortion#and I even LIKE The Handmaid's Tale! I've been watching it a lot lately precisely because it's so fantastical that#it doesn't scare me#it's less realistic than something like (again) Call the Midwife which I have been avoiding like the plague

Why does it matter?
A question asked to me by so many, predominantly, cis white males. "Why does the election matter?", followed by "they're both bad people" and "We don't even live there" Here is why it matters.
Donald Trump is one of the most prevalent factors in bringing hate speech to the public. He made it something you can be outspoken about. Name one person who didn't know about Trump's "build a wall to keep out the immigrants" belief in 2016. And it DOES make a difference. A difference in how people are treated in America, across the globe. A difference in what politicians are going to make their platform about; because being open and progressive is no longer what the voters want to hear!
Small things started to happen, piece by piece. Corporations no longer backing pride, the rise in disgusting, misogynistic podcasts/celebrities. There's no longer any SEMBLANCE of supporting queer communities and women's rights. The predominant voice in all the media we absorb around us is no longer pretending to care.
It matters for the world because as much as we hate it, America is powerful. America has started and ended wars. America has instilled leaders and changed the course of history countless of times. America has proven to us all the damage it can do. Trump has proven to us all the damage he can do.
To the point where that nation being a democracy is near laughable. If he loses, half the country won't even accept it. This is unbelievable and NOT how things were prior to his harmful rhetoric.
I recall 2016, I was sitting with my mom on the couch in shock. What broke my heart above all else, was Trump's promise to bomb Allepo during the debate. This was a city under siege in Syria, one with thousands of non-evacuated civilians and children. What on earth makes you think he won't do this again?
So yes, to everyone out there wondering. It does matter. People all around the world will die because of this. The rights of marginalized communities will be questioned all around the world because of this. When the rest of politics becomes just as fucked up as America's, and you are the one standing in front of a voter's ballot deciding the future of your nation, it will matter.
I am absolutely devastated by Trump being re-elected. All this being said, we must still live on. We MUST offer support to those who need it now more than ever. We MUST stay strong for all of our friends and family that may be directly impacted by this. We MUST stay together, because then Trump winning the country does not mean he has won our lives.

When trans elder, activist, and organizer Miss Major was imprisoned in the 70s, she was put in solitary confinement. Also in solitary confinement at the time was Frank "Big Black" Smith, iconic Black Panther and organizer of the Attica rebellion.
Miss Major said of Big Black, “He’s the one that let me know that during things like the riot or getting justice done—stuff lke that—you can’t throw anybody under the bus. You can't leave anybody behind. And that’s become my favorite thing to say to people: I won’t throw anybody under the bus, and I’m not leaving anybody. It has to include us all, or it’s not going to work.”
It has to include us all, or it’s not going to work.
Sontarangaming
Also, on top of everything else, this operates on the same principle as retributive justice vs restorative justice, in that only one of these plans has a real endgame. Lateral violence happens because we view problems in relative terms—and there’s no way around that. And when you’re approaching issues by trying to eliminate the Bad Things, your brain has a way of making those smaller issues feel big, and it becomes cathartic to rip at that problem and feel like you’re doing your part. Issue is, if you don’t focus on the constructive side of your activism, you end up losing the plot in favor of that catharsis.
Two examples of this from different sides of Discourse would be transmeds, who spend time worrying about who is and isn’t trutrans, and the people harassing celebrities with queerbaiting accusations. In both cases, there are some legitimate grievances, and ironically enough, they’re shared grievances a lot of the time. Both are concerned with the ways that their community is othered and marginalized, and they want to do something about that. But in both cases, they focus on individual, small scale perceived issues, and try and tear down those accessible, small issues, rather than look upwards and see the shared enemy of heteronormative patriarchy that creates these issues in the first place.
In both of these cases, you can tell the issues with their approach by looking at their natural conclusions and seeing where they lead, which in both cases is queer spaces and identity being inaccessibly obscure and heavily gated. Comparatively, if a constructive approach is taken, the opposite happens: if, instead of gatekeeping transition to reserve it for the right people, you encourage people to experiment with their gender identity and expression for their own comfort, you solve the potential issue of people transitioning before they’re ready or certain, without the same shitty side effects. If you encourage people to present how they want, you destigmatize femininity and men and masculinity in women, which benefits everyone.
sealpup9
Also, if your goal is just "finding the next enemy" it's easy to get pulled into the mindset that there is always a scapegoat. And the step after that is literally rallying against groups of people... You see where this is going.
Our goals should always be to improve the lives of those around us. Treating people well and rallying with folks for better treatment. The "Us vs. Them" mentality will just cause damage in the long run and can get you into the habit of looking for enemies. When in actuality we all deserve rights and the ability to live life without issues. Doing little things to help people around you is a good place to start :)
I really do think an important component of activism is to make sure your motivation is based on a desire to help/improve things for the people being harmed by a system, and not hatred for the ones doing the harm. both for mental health reasons, and because either way you're training your neural pathways and it's gonna turn out a lot better for literally everyone if the question on everyone's mind after achieving a goal is "how/which people can we help next, what's the next step for improving things" and not "who do we need to attack next."
I'm not saying don't be angry, there are a lot of good reasons to be angry right now and it makes for an excellent kick in the pants, just don't define yourself by it or it's gonna poison you and potentially do collateral damage.
#it’s spiritually important to humanize your enemies#not because they’re never bad or it’s always wrong to hurt them#but because hurting people is always a cost and should only be done when absolutely necessary#you need to feel the weight of that cost for the sake of your soul

The problem was that Harry had certain expectations of Catherine, and by extension, Meghan, based on what he had likely told her about Kate. Harry expected Catherine to treat Meghan in the same way she treated him, without considering her own thoughts and feelings. He was disappointed when his expectations were not met.
I disagree with this, I think K treated M the way she treated H, civil but not too close, I think M had expectations of Kate based on her public image that M built her anti-K personality off: meek, easily influenced, boring, etc.. as someone said(I'm not sure if it was you), she expected Kate to be her Jessica, a wingwoman designed to make her look better.
and in H's book he speaks about feeling like the 3rd wheel with W&K and dreaming of the day that he stops feeling that way because he had a partner as well and they can be a happy four, except that him having a partner to W&K meant that they no longer have to tolerate him to soothe his feelings, that was to be his partner's burden, having a partner didn't mean a happy 4 to them, it meant he can go off with his spouse so that they can focus more on their relationship and their children.
Sorry, I disagree. We do know that Harry and Kate were much closer than “civil.” Harry, William, Kate, and the rota have all spoken about how close they were pre-Meghan. I mean, Harry used to pop over to 1A all the time for dinner and to hang out (according to William) and Harry lived/spent nights close enough to them that he could hear George playing from his bed (according to Harry himself) and then there’s Michelle Obama’s famous story about George asking Harry why he was so quiet during the Obamas’ visit.
That’s a pretty close relationship. If you’re just civil with someone, you don’t give them walk-in privileges to their home and your child certainly isn’t going to notice a difference in their personality or behavior when there are guests.
But it’s clear something happened to cause a distance put distance between Harry and William and Kate. I think the fracturing had already started before Meghan came along. According to the rota and implied by Harry in Spare, the fractures, or a slight cooling, seem to have started around 2014/2015 when William and Kate were settling into their new phase of life (parenthood) and spending more time in (before eventually moving to) Norfolk while Harry maintained his partying lifestyle, which the rota has hinted worsened after he left the Army.
Also, aristo gossip has hinted that whenever Harry did visit the Cambridges in Norfolk and/or they went to parties hosted by friends, Harry brought his partying ways with him (drinking to excess, wanting to stay out all night, loud boisterous and belligerent behavior, etc.) and the Turnip Toffs didn’t like it so they stopped inviting Harry around as often. The “read between the lines” of the gossip was that Harry doesn’t know when enough is enough and kept going too far, which made everyone uncomfortable.
So I agree with the original anon - because Harry had a warm and close relationship with Kate, he expected her to greet Meghan warmly and immediately bring her into her inner circle.
But what Harry didn’t realize is that his relationships with William and Kate had already fractured because of whatever happened in 2014-2016 and his expectations for how they interacted with Meghan ended up being the fatal blow to those relationships more than Meghan’s expectations of Kate or the women not getting along were.

Time Travelers AU - The Night Sky Is Filled With Gay Thoughts
This one is shorter than the other chapters but I really felt like Nightmare's gay panic deserved its own chapter lmao
First
Prev
Next
@ancha-aus your seat is reserved
We entering Nightmare's bitch arc ya'll
Tw: some slightly suggestive talk but nothing serious happens, self hatred of course as I am physically unable to write about Nightmare without adding angst
The moon was so high in the sky, everyone was sleeping. Everyone one except Nightmare, he had been unwell all day, since Horror came back from his hunt, he had found himself spacing out, not responding to either Killer nor Dust when they tried talking to him, having trouble concentrating enough to translate, and totally unable to look at Horror in the eyesockets. Now he was laying on his back, on the couch, staring at the ceiling.
What happened ? He had felt weird all afternoon, starting when Horror came back. He should have been horrified, the Viking came back covered in blood, holding a dead body on his shoulder, his stained weapon still in his hand. It has truly been an unsettling sight to see. He had put his axe, his blood stained axe, right next to Nightmare, and he had looked at him, planting his gaze in his, and Nightmare couldn't look anywhere else. Had he been scared ? Of course he had been scared, what kind of brute brought back his pray like that ? Still dripping with blood and without washing at least his hands ? But, he felt something new when his gaze met Horror's gaze...
He saw this brute, this man, holding a full corpse on his shoulder like it was a feather, covered in sweat and blood that wasn't his, his large hands holding an axe that looked no less heavy but that he manipulated with ease. And he felt his soul burn. He didn't know if his cheeks blushed, but he felt his whole body become hotter. When Horror left to cook he didn't know what to do, and Killer's staring at him with his grin didn't help him sort out his thoughts.
He couldn't think at all for the whole day, not participating in conversations during meals, he did his best not to look at the Viking, not to think about his hands, damaged by a hard life, about his muscular arms that could brobaly break him in half if he wanted to, hold him down and he wouldn't be able to move.
Nightmare shifted on the couch, turning his back to the living room, thinking about Horror above him and holding him down surprisingly didn't help calm his already racing soul.
Why did he feel so hot when thinking about the giant ? He shouldn't feel that way, Horror was a Viking, a brute who's only passtime was pillaging villages, killing men and kidnapping women for their own pleasure, there was nothing admirable in that. Really, thinking about Horror entering his home, breaking his belongings and take him away to keep him as a prize, a trophy, was truly terrifying. And yet he felt his face burn at the thought of being taken by him, preciously kept away as a fancy war prize for only Horror to touch and see.
That wasn't right. Horror could kill him, or worse, he could do unspeakable horrors to him, make him uffer, torture him mentally and physically, then tend to his wounds to ensure he wouldn't die, keep him safe from other pillagers, dress him with riches to show off to the other Vikings, tell him he is his and his alone, that no one else would ever put their filthy hands on him...
Nightmare got up. He needed water. He went to the bathroom, feeling like he would faint at any moment with the heat in his body. He watched the water flow for a few seconds before taking some in his hands to splash on his face until he felt cooler. He stayed bent over the sink for a while before standing straight and looking at himself in the mirror. His brother would probably laugh if he was there. Seriously, how pathetic could he be ? Losing his composure like that like he was some young lady fresh out of the coven discovering what temptation was ? He shouldn't feel that way ! He was a noble man ! He went back to lay on the couch.
He had a future planned for him, he couldn't allow himself to be distracted like that, he had to marry a noble woman, a lady with the same rank as him, and give her kids to ensure the continuity of his prestigious bloodline. That was what every noble did, that was what his mother did, what she had told him to do before passing away. He had to marry someone rich and full of virtue, love wasn't even on the table, you didn't marry out of love. His mother didn't marry out of love, there had never been any love in anything she had done, from marrying to having children, she had done everything because it was her purpose as a noble woman, not once had she felt any love for them, for her husband for whom she didn't cry at his funeral and for her two children whom she always let her servants take care of. That was just how things were supposed to work. That was what Nightmare, and Dream, were supposed to do, their glorious future.
And yet he found himself dreaming for more, dreaming of love, passion, of someone to hold tight and to be held tight by, someone to tell him he would be okay, that he didn't have to marry anyone he didn't want to, that he could let his heart chose. He tried so hard to make the wedding happen as late as possible, finding excuses to refuse the many proposals he received. He was so scarred of marriage. He didn't know why it scarred him so much, he knew he would still be free, that it was only for business purposes, that he wouldn't have to pretend to love his wife and she wouldn't have to pretend to love him either, but he would still have obligations that came with marriage. Children were a big part of this. He didn't dislike children, but he knew he would have to be intimate, he wasn't stupid, he knew how that worked, but he couldn't imagine himself doing.... that, with a woman... It was right but it felt wrong, it was the natural order of things but it didn't feel natural to him. Sure he could lie and say either him or his wife was infertile and that was why they couldn't have children, but lying about that wouldn't bring any good to their reputation, and reputation was important. No, he couldn't lie, but he couldn't do that either. It just didn't feel right...
And when he saw Horror bent over him, when he imagined him holding him, taking him away from everything he knew and making him his... everything had felt so right, so natural. He wanted him, he wanted him so bad. He didn't want to marry a woman, but he wanted to be Horror's prize, he wanted to be his precious thing, he wanted him to rock his world and softly kiss him, to tell him he could have hundreds just like him but he was the only one for him. He wanted this wicked romance. He wanted the harsh and he wanted the soft. Horror was soft. Soft and patient. He was careful around them, respected boundaries, brought back food, didn't have any vile intentions, he was only looking to care for them, for Dust particularly, as he was their unfortunate host with not enough means to provide for everyone. He was a gentle giant. A gentle giant with great strenght. Nightmare wanted that.
He hated himself for wanting that. His mother would have hated him too if she was still alive. She had always hated him anyways. He shouldn't feel that. It wasn't proper for a noble. He was such a disgrace, a pathetic excuse of a noble, no wonder he always felt out of place among his pairs, he couldn't do things right, he couldn't even feel right.
He grabbed a pillow to press it against his chest, laying down facing the back of the couch. He wanted to dissapear, to go back home and never see any of them ever again, to talk to his brother, Dream always knew what to do, he was always right, never out of place, he was everything Nightmare wasn't. But he wasn't there, and Nightmare was alone to face these atrocious feelings.
He hated it. He hated Horror for making him feel so good and so bad at the same time and he hated himself for allowing these feelings to take roots in his soul and for feeding them with his overthinking.
He just hated himself so much right now. He hated how he felt and he hated that he was crying again. It was the only thing he was good at sometimes. Crying.
He was pathetic.

"A peaceful but determined resistance to Trump must start now" - Robert Reich
A worthwhile read with everything that has happened in the past couple days.
I won’t try to hide it. I’m heartbroken. Heartbroken and scared, to tell you the truth. I’m sure many of you are, too. Donald Trump has decisively won the presidency, the Senate, and possibly the House of Representatives and the popular vote, too.
Millions of people must now live in fear of being swept up by Trump’s cruel mass deportation plan – documented immigrants, as he has threatened before, as well as undocumented, and millions of American citizens with undocumented parents or spouses.
Women and girls must now fear that they’ll be forced to give birth or be denied life-saving care during an ectopic pregnancy or miscarriage.
America has become less safe for trans people – including trans kids – who were already at risk of violence and discrimination.Anyone who has already faced prejudice and marginalization is now in greater danger than before.
Remember, remember, the fifth of November, when a bad guy tried to blow up a political system.
Also in danger are people who have stood up to Trump, who has promised to seek revenge against his political opponents.
Countless people are now endangered on a scale and intensity almost unheard of in modern America.
Our first responsibility is to protect all those who are in harm’s way.
We will do that by resisting Trump’s attempts to suppress women’s freedoms. We will fight for the rights of women and girls to determine when and whether they have children. No one will force a woman to give birth.
We will block Trump’s cruel efforts at mass deportation. We will fight to give sanctuary to productive, law-abiding members of our communities, including young people who arrived here as babies or children.
We will not allow mass arrests and mass detention of anyone in America. We will not permit families to be separated. We will not allow the military to be used to intimidate and subjugate anyone in this country.
We will protect trans people and everyone else who is scapegoated because of how they look or what they believe. No one should have to be ashamed of who they are.
We will stop Trump’s efforts to retaliate against his perceived enemies. A free nation protects political dissent. A democracy needs people willing to stand up to tyranny. How will we conduct this resistance?
By organizing our communities. By fighting through the courts. By arguing our cause through the media.
We will ask other Americans to join us – left and right, progressive and conservative, white people and people of color. It will be the largest and most powerful resistance since the American revolution.
But it will be peaceful. We will not succumb to violence, which would only give Trump and his regime an excuse to use organized violence against us.
We will keep alive the flames of freedom and the common good, and we will preserve our democracy. We will fight for the same things Americans have fought for since the founding of our nation – rights enshrined in the constitution and Bill of Rights.
The preamble to the constitution of the United States opens with the phrase “We the people”, conveying a sense of shared interest and a desire “to promote the general welfare”, as the preamble goes on to say.
We the people will fight for the general welfare.
We the people will resist tyranny. We will preserve the common good. We will protect our democracy.
This will not be easy, but if the American experiment in self-government is to continue, it is essential.
I know you’re scared and stressed. So am I.
If you are grieving or frightened, you are not alone. Tens of millions of Americans feel the way you do.
All I can say to reassure you is that time and again, Americans have opted for the common good. Time and again, we have come to each other’s aid. We have resisted cruelty.
We supported one another during the Great Depression. We were victorious over Hitler’s fascism and Soviet communism. We survived Joe McCarthy’s witch-hunts, Richard Nixon’s crimes, Lyndon Johnson’s Vietnam war, the horrors of 9/11, and George W Bush’s wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
We will resist Donald Trump’s tyranny.
Although peaceful and non-violent, the resistance will nonetheless be committed and determined.
It will encompass every community in America. It will endure as long as necessary.
We will never give up on America.
The resistance starts now.

Hi, guys. It's me, Barlowe.
No fun aesthetics, none of that. We're addressing the election today.
I never thought I'd be political on my blog—and, in fact, avoided it except for where I really wanted to get things out to everyone, like Project 2025—but circumstances have forced me to step up.
For those who want to see my actual Writeblr intro, you can find it here. This post is getting pinned to my blog for a while.
So, hi. Barlowe here.
I'm an autistic lesbian with health issues I'm too poor to treat.
I'm currently in a relationship with a Mexican-American woman.
My older sister, although we don't really get along, is trans.
I do not care about my relationship with her. What matters is that she is in legitimate danger. Because of the results of the election.
My girlfriend? She's in danger, too. She had people yell and spit at and shove her during Trump's first term, and she had little to nobody she could turn to for help. Like me, she's chock-full of struggles and disabilities. So much so that I almost want to say she's had it even worse than me in that regard.
But I won't be comparing struggles here; that's not the point.
My little sister is still a teenager. She lives in Florida.
As a 13-year-old, she had people call her a slut for wearing a tank top.
A tank top.
It's Florida. It's hot.
She was 13.
Do you know the amount of rage I felt when I heard that?
I'm a nonviolent af grown-ass adult and I wanted to track down those kids to beat them tf up. I wanted to teach them a lesson to never treat my little sister like that again.
But they aren't the source of the problem, do you know that?
The source of the problem is their parents. The media. The internet, and echo chambers full of disgusting, sexist pigs who reduce women—and girls—to nothing more than sex objects for men.
“Grab 'em by the pussy.”
Did we all forget that?
Did we all forget how disgusting that pathetic excuse for a man is?
Did we ignore all of his crimes, all of the things he's done?
Why? Because Harris is a black woman? Because she's mixed? Because she's flawed? Because she didn't deserve to win?
Listen to me.
That's not good enough.
Maybe she didn't deserve to win. But do you know what?
Nor did Trump.
Trump deserves to be IN JAIL.
He's racist, he's xenophobic, he's sexist, a rapist, a homophobe, a convicted felon, and so, so much more.
And yet here we are.
How did millions of people vote a man like that into office?
I would've gone running for the hills at just ONE of those things?
... but that's not the point.
We're here now, except... things aren't quite as clear-cut as we've been led to believe.
There's an interesting saying that goes something like:
“People most often expect from others what they know of themselves.”
And what did Trump most love screaming at the hills?
That the votes of 2020 were rigged.
And he said to “find votes”.
Well, it looks like he found them.
Or, at the very least, he's gotten rid of Democratic ones.
There were bomb threats called in on democratic-leaning polling locations, machines “didn't recognize” ballots, democratic ballots were rejected for inane reasons, and ballots were burned.
Do you think a man so obsessed with so-called “rigging” wouldn't engage in it himself? Whether he truly believed it or not—which, it's been proven that he didn't, and only claimed so to rile up his cultish followers, causing January 6th—who's to say he wouldn't do it himself to “even out the playing field” so to speak? Who's to say a man like him wouldn't claim election fraud 4 years in advance just to pull the wool over all of our collective eyes later?
I'm not saying that he hasn't won.
But I am saying it's not goddamn over.
There's petitions you can sign demanding for recounts [EDIT: THEY DELETED THE LAST ONE!!!! THIS IS A REPLACEMENT!!!]. You can contact Harris to beg her to not take this lying down. You can—and SHOULD—contact the White House directly.
Listen to me.
Check out Project 2025.
My sweet, lovely girlfriend has been shoved and verbally abused—harassed into literal agoraphobia that she's already slipping back into just because of the election's results—by people who ate up the hateful rhetoric of the Right.
She lives in a Blue State.
Even while my trans sister was male-presenting, she was treated differently—coldly—before she cut her hair short again. Suddenly, people would smile at her on the streets again.
She's since started transitioning, and what about now?
My little sister was physically bullied while she lived in Texas.
They, too, are lucky I was never around for that.
Now, in Florida, I doubt she fares much better.
My friend, who's a teacher in Texas, has been forced to publish under a pseudonym and try their complete and utter best to hide their writing so they're not fired for her job. Why?
Because the MC's nonbinary.
My friend is terrified for their son, growing up in a world like this. They're terrified to have another kid—which they want—because 'what if it's a daughter?' They don't want to bring a girl into a world like this.
And they don't want to risk a pregnancy that can end their life.
People all across the states are being forced to give birth to the children of their rapists... or die because of complications in the womb.
Babies are being forced to die slowly in the womb rather than humanely, through “abortion”, after it's clear they're dying, but “still have a heartbeat.”
Queer folk, PoC, and immigrants have been targeted and live in fear for their lives. They deal with VERY real violence and harassment, even if you don't see it yourself.
This is all the lasting effects of Trump's first term as president.
He and his followers spread a hateful rhetoric strongly aligning with Hitler's before the man took over. They fearmonger and sell out minorities as the reason everything's wrong in this country.
They make minorities a scapegoat, and make them into targets.
Regardless of the actual results of the election, these so-called “victories” for the Right only embolden the bigots to act more and more egregiously.
It doesn't matter if you're “one of the good ones”. It doesn't matter if “most Republicans aren't like that”. It doesn't matter what you think.
What matters is reality.
And reality is: a Trump victory means victory for the extremists.
They ran with it the first time.
What do you think they're going to do with it this time?
This all isn't to sound doomeristic, though—I think we still have a chance. I think Trump's rigged this thing for a reason. I think we need to push for this stuff to be exposed.
But it's going to take everything we have, guys.
Sure, maybe Harris isn't perfect. She's questionable af in a LOT of places, and I personally hate her stances on Palestine. I'm sure most of all of us do. But, do you really think Trump will be any kinder?
Do you really care to doom everyone else off of the miniscule chance that he'll decide to help them?
Listen: Harris isn't trying to turn the States into the next fascist dictatorship. Trump is. Harris isn't showing EVERY single “preparing for a genocide” red flag. Trump. IS.
Petition for recounts. Tell Harris not to give up.
And contact the White House telling them this is not acceptable.
Complain about the bomb threats. Complain about the lost ballots. Complain about the tampered-with ballots. Complain about the burned ballots, complain about the rejected ballots, and don't stop fighting tooth-and-nail like Trump kicked and screamed after the 2020 election.
Don't give up. It's not too late.
And, to my followers?
Let me make this abundantly clear.
If any of you voted for Trump? If any of you wanted him to win, or for Harris to lose?
Then get the fuck off my blog.
I don't give a shit what kind of relationship we've had in the past, or if you liked my writing, or any of that.
A loss for Harris is a win for Trump—it's that simple.
You aren't morally superior for choosing not to vote for Harris no matter WHAT reason you had for it. You aren't morally superior for finding her dubious, for hating her views on Palestine, or for refraining from choosing either of the two evils.
You're a coward.
An enabler, comforting yourself by telling yourself “at least you didn't have a hand in {whatever turned you against her}”.
Sure, you didn't kill the sheep.
But you left the gates open for the wolves.
And that makes you responsible for their deaths.
You knew the risks of leaving the gate open. But you did it anyway.
And, to any of you who voted for Trump?
I want you to know I HATE you.
No matter what, no matter who, no matter WHY.
I consider you all equally responsible for anything and everything that happens as a result of his presidency if it comes to be.
It isn't “just politics”.
It isn't something you can just wipe your hands clean of.
Maybe you don't have to face the consequences for the things that come from this, but I, the people I love, and countless others do.
It's not “just politics”.
It's our fucking lives.
And I hope, one of these days, you learn to regret it as much as the rest of us.
So, to those of you who left the gate open?
Do yourself a favor.
Get the fuck off my blog before I find out you did.

There is a Rat in Our House (Webcomic)
Created by: Dami, Kamomo, Kim Sooji
Genre: Psychological/Smut
Oh boy, I sure do love submissive yanderes! This one is more on the psychological aspect since he has of yet done anything that i would consider violent or manipulative, but is completely ready to give everything to the female lead and is afraid of being thrown away by her. Currently, the first season is finished with about 35 chapters.
The story starts out with Hyoon-so going out into a snowstorm to buy food. As she goes out, she finds a half frozen person sitting in the snow and brings him back to her apartment to take care of him. She has to take care of him by helping him shower (as he nearly passes out in the bathroom), giving him clothes and feeding him. Considering that they are in a snowstorm, Hyoon-so allows him, Ji-hyo to stay in her apartment. We see that Ji-hyo has been basically just living by sleeping with people in their houses, and is cautious about Hyoon-so's kindness initially, even trying to sleep with her as repayment (though she shuts him down due to his health). We get to see more of his backstory, seeing that Ji-hyo was in a broken household, with his mother sleeping with a lot of men and basically never cleaning up. During this time, Hyoon-so continues to take care of Ji-hyo, bandaging his bruises and getting him medication as the snowfall continues. The two cuddle with each other when the power goes out, which leads to him getting a panic attack after waking up, begging for Hyoon-so to accept any sort of payment. When she refuses, he talks about how he ended up in the snow, being picked up by an older woman and beaten by her husband when he was caught. Hyoon-so ends up pleasuring Ji-hyo after the entire panic attack in a way to calm him down (at least that's what I see). The next day Hyoon-so gets a call from someone she knows and nags her about getting sick this time before offering her a job at his company as a photographer.
As the snow storm goes on, the two of them get closer and closer to each other, until Ji-hyo eventually quits his job of being essentially a prostitute and the two sleep together. We get another flashback to Hyoon-so after his mother dies, taking on part time jobs, being abused by others and sleeping with women to get money, before eventually being with Ji-hyo, someone he has now fallen for. Hyoon-so goes to the interview while Ji-hyo goes to his workplace, deciding that if Hyoon-so throws him away, he will decide to freeze for good rather than accept anyone else's help. After being assaulted via broom by a female customer, Hyoon-so takes care of Ji-hyo and starts to take pictures of him, feeling the spark of inspiration again, even dressing him up with jewelry. Although Ji-hyo feels uncomfortable with this, he decides to push forward as at this point he is willing to give up everything for Hyoon-so. We get to see how Hyoon-so got into picture taking, seeing a sunset and realizing that every moment is fleeting, however, has recently lost that feeling until she came upon Ji-hyo. Upon hearing this, Ji-hyo pushes the idea that he will do anything for Hyoon-so so as long as he can be owned by her. The two of them get closer in their relationship and Hyoon-so takes up the job of photography, even teaching some of it to Ji-hyo. When going to the studio with Hyoon-so, he is mistaken for a model, and Hyoon-so encourages him to take up the offer. Ji-hyo gets jealous when dealing with Hyoon-so's boss and things get to worse when Hyoon-so's images of Ji-hyo are placed into a gallery without her permission, causing Ji-hyo's sanity to tank even more. Ji-hyo becomes incredibly insecure because of the photos, even believing that Hyoon-so will throw him away. He spirals even harder when Ji-hyo comes home, and especially when Ji-hyo rebukes Hyoon-so's belief that she is a god in his eyes.
There's a Rat in our House is a pretty interesting case of yandere because most of the actual yandere action is not outwardly malicious but rather internally harmful to Ji-hyo. Most yanderes tend to be outwardly destructive in some capacity, either through more physical means such as violence or more psychological means like manipulation. Even in really light cases, the yandere will exhibit signs of jealousy and hostility towards those that are not their love. However, in this case most if not all of Ji-hyo's yandere tendencies are all internal, growing more and more clingy over Hyoon-so as the story goes on, before at the end of this season, spilling out his desires for her, worshiping her as a god. For these kinds of things, it makes you wonder if Ji-hyo is really a yandere at all, considering that we never really see any of his actions, but given we can see what kind of internal thinking is going on, I would still consider him one. This kind of internal yandere struggle seems to be most common in reluctant or submissive yanderes, given that they usually are able to keep their feelings under control either through sheer will or some other factor such as guilt.
This kind of reminds me of the arc in Nameless: The One thing you must recall, specifically with Yeonho, where Yeonho tries to do everything to make the female lead, Eri, happy, including doing things that make him uncomfortable, all because he's afraid of being thrown away. Given that I quite like his route, I can see that this one is very similar in terms of the things I enjoy as well. It's very nice seeing just how far that Ji-hyo will go with Hyoon-so, even if it is simply just devoting his body and his actions to do whatever she wants. It is also nice that Hyoon-so doesn't see Ji-hyo as something that she can use, and even is pretty communicative when they do have sex together, making sure that he's not uncomfortable, which doesn't exactly mesh with Ji-hyo's devoting even beyond the things he likes, but it is something you don't always see often. The final break down in the current season also sees Hyoon-so telling off Ji-hyo's behavior, trying to not only calm him down but show him that she is simply human as well, and not a god to be worshiped despite what he thinks. It does make me wonder if the story will go into a more extreme action where Ji-hyo starts to outwardly show more signs of yandere behavior, or if everything will continue being internalized.
Overall, I do really like this story. While it is rather slow burn, it is always really fascinating seeing how a yandere slowly becomes one out of kindness and just how far it will go to be devoted to the person that he loves. Plus, I can't really turn down a subby male yandere. If you are interested in this, please check it out.

i have deep desire to write for demon slayer (and by write for it im specifically talking about zenitsu currently.) but the story is so deeply impacted by it's setting that its gonna take at least two weeks of research to do it any justice so the plans r Delayed
#aristotle.txt#writing for my hero = easy because im insane and know every inch of it#writing for anything else = impossible#i figured trying to find fic for it was going to feel like this in the first place#from my limited understanding the story takes place in the events directly after japans first industrial revolution#which means that the advent of technology is not only integral to the story telling but there's also like an unreal#amount of sociopolitical context for most of the major details#writing for my hero is easy because a society post tech is very easy to imagine. we live in it lol#demon slayer in particular takes place during the emergence of industry#what makes zenitsu an interesting character to me is that his narration is influenced directly by his class and proximity to modernity#he has a specific level of cynicism i can only describe as post industrial. whether that be his sense of cowardice over tanjiro/inosuke#or his attitude towards women. the way he behaves and how he critically analyzes certain kinds of behavior#like im currently watching the entertainment district arc and i think inosukes reaction vs zenitsus pretty much exactly covers it#where inosuke is overstimulated and tanjiro is reserved - zenitsu recognizes the district for what it is. that quality makes him stand out#a lot among them at least to me. i love hearing him talk sooo much lmfao.#anyways. all that to say. i want to write zenitsu but i need to do more reading to make it any good so . pray for me i suppose#zenitsu the embodiment of men used to chop trees and go to war fr

So like legit how does one make friends when they are
-too adhd for normal people

she really is the bravest soldier bc i don’t know how someone could a. release something so vulnerable and then b. go sing in front of thousands that same evening
#oh this is about#taylor swift#to any non swifties on board#it's such a double edged sword bc at the same time it must feel so great to perform to a crowd of ppl who love you#so in a way its maybe great that this is all getting out there during tour where she has that outlet#but as much as i know once an artist releases a song it becomes kind of more about what ppl associate it with in their lives#instead of directly connected to them and the mindset/intention they wrote it#but it still feels like it has to be hard to separate the 2 on some level right? like esp when a breakup is fresh?#so u get the weird feeling about performing love songs about a dying/dead relationship#although luckily the setlist doesnt have any of the really deep Joe songs other than lover#but i think bc of its fame that one really probably has become more about other ppl than herself#anyways i am rambling to the max#also not to make someone elses breakup into social commentary but there is so much to be said for this general phenomenon#of men stringing women along in long-term serious but ultimately non-committal relationships#like obv situations change so im not saying that he like. intentionally did this from day 1 bc hes evil or something#but ive just seen it happen alot and its sad#im sure it kind of just slowly became that. but it feels like they probably both could have called it quits way sooner#new motto for women (who are interested in marriage) should be: he better lock it down or i won't stick around#and then actually do it

dunno about alex+jean being endgame, since this is technically not a romance show and jojo always surprises, also looking at the poster, it's doesn't imply any pairing. I think 6 eps is enough to handle this subject with care, which I hope for because everything else was being written in a smart way. the show has mentioned twice that consent can be withdrawn at any point - in ep1 sex ed class and in ep5, so there's no way this is glossed over or diminished imo. I love jean (and fah) so much 😭
yeah you're absolutely right in everything you just said anon, but tbh I've been burned SOOOOO many times by thai dramas, even by directors I loved, that I prefer to be on the cautious side rather than to have too high expectations & be so disappointed it turns me off the whole show & p'jojo altogether. but I'm really hoping that you're right bc it wouldn't make sense for the show to have another message than the one so clearly spelled since the beginning. I do think it is gonna be about jean forgiving alex though, but maybe not a romantic ending of them two. besides, jean has way more chemistry with the actor guy played by joong lol, still waiting on that scene where she jumps on him like the queen she is 😌
xxx
#answers#the warp effect#like bb almost completely turned me off p'aof & made me realize how much overrated & overglamorized by the fandom he is#(I still like p'aof & think he's a good director btw I just don't think he hung the moon like everyone else)#p'jojo though? that's my man. that's literally the only director I put my faith in nowadays so likeeee...#if he lets me down hugely idk how I'll live on tbh#I don't see him as god on earth like many people see p'aof but still he could deffo disappoint me & break my heart one day lol#I mean one mistake p'jojo has made during the warp effect for example is the lack of foreplay lol#like kat bb girl don't pretend your first time with alex was good I know that p*ssy was dry af girlie lmaoooooo#and the difference with the queer girlies who gave each other handjobs was so stark too like even straighties need a little rub rub babe#anyways this is turning into a sex education sorry but that shit irked me to the highest level bc how are you gonna make a show about sex -#- and not include straight women getting foreplay likeeeee... it was giving p*rn for guys sorry I said what I said

they will need to whipstitch the wound closed, but embroidery is a "woman's" task. they will need to eat and clean and mend clothes, but why learn basic things when you can have a woman measure out your life in beads. he will be the "head" of your house, but if you want him to act accordingly, you must assign him a list of all applicable activities. you will be otherwise constantly in charge of almost-everything; so he will lead the house he is absent from.
in movies and books, the "cool" girl will be more-like-a-man. she will be "less boring," more "fun". she will have masculine ideas and masculine talents, which means a man doesn't have to change in order to find her fascinating. she will disdain of something as simple as stitching. how boring!
she will kick open the door of a car and quip what, girls can't drive? and flip her long hair down one side. she will grill and shoot a gun and skydive. be a guy. she will be sexualized.
somewhere, working on computers becomes a masculine task, and now on tv a gen-z disney character throws her hands up in the air. i can't be a computer science nerd, i'm a girl! in the real life, she will be unable to sit through some of her classes, shivering when she realizes she is the only woman present in several of them.
how many times have you read this book and seen this show and watched this movie. the singular woman is allowed 5 lines because she's not just smart! she's also pretty! she is surrounded by 20 average men, but she is stunning. she is the exception to the bland, pale lives of women-at-home, who will never be shown. she likes dirt and motorbikes and blood and shows up in a tiny dress during the final scene, rolling her eyes at our male lead's incredulity - just because i like motorcross doesn't mean anything. i'm still a woman, okay? i actually like shopping.
it is almost never reversed, and you think about that often. it is vanishingly rare to have a single man in a cast of women. the male love interest does not show up at a feminist march and sardonically squint at our leading lady - what? you thought only women care about human rights? he does not know how to balance a checkbook or kickbox because i grew up with three sisters.
when he cooks he is a chef, which is sexy. when he cleans, he's being kind, genteel. when he nurtures his family, confetti rains from the ceiling. when she does these things: it is her duty and her identity. what do you mean she has other passions and hobbies? isn't her hobby and passion homemaking?
the other day a friend embroidered a seam closed on your jacket into the shape of ivy. every time you touch it, you think of her.
something about women's hobbies and art and skills. something about women's work.
#this makes no sense bc i got too mad :)#writeblr#warm up#i'm workin on something else as a thank u to a friend :) just up early and#honestly thinking of fuckken eloise from bridgerton#she was like. 80% the antagonist this season. girl . ''oh nooooo colin is engaged to penny!!''#girl shut up ur a feminist and ur friend is standing there saying shes about to be SOLD

Kendrick doesn't just hate Drake as a person. He hates the very idea of Drake.
Hip-Hop is rooted in revolution. In defiance. These are the songs of an oppressed group of people, and decades upon decades people have hated it. Accused of being meaningless and invalid. Media outlets took steps to belittle hip-hop and make sure it isn't recognized as an art form and as a means to fight back.
2Pac spoke of wealth disparity and inequality. Tupac was literally a member of a communist organization when he was younger and never stopped speaking against capitalism.
Lauryn Hill spoke of the struggles a woman faces. Not just women, but black women. Salt-N-Peppa. Queen Latifah. MISSY FUCKING ELLIOT.
N.W.A made sure people knew about police brutality and violence against the Black community.
And now, in this day and age, we're also experiencing an explosion of Queer Hip-Hop. Lil Nas X is at the forefront of this. Lil Uzi Vert came out as non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, even when they knew that a lot of their fans would never use it or even respect them for it. Auntie Diaries, a song about a young man who grew up in a transphobic environment and bought into those beliefs, but could never fully do it because his Uncle loved him so much and taught him a lot of life lessons, and that wisdom translated to him accepting his cousin as a woman as well.
Drake is none of that.
He's the perfect representation of what people think hip-hop is. Flexing. Posturing. Objectifying women. A fucker so insecure he bought 2Pac's ring just to feel like he's part of the black community. Rejected by Rihanna publicly. Tried to groom Millie Bobby Brown. Kissed and inappropriately touched an underage girl during his concert. His songs have inspired so many young boys to treat girls like shit. His belief that the amount of rings and chains and cars he has is the true meaning of success.
Additional Edit: This is my fault. If this post gains more views, then it would be remiss of me not to add to this. It was my fault to begin with, not stating this beforehand because while I did know, I got lost in celebrating Hip-Hop in a place that doesn't usually do so, and rightfully so.
2Pac did fight for wealth equality and better social living for the black community. He also has a long, long history of battery, domestic abuse, and sexual harassment against women. Specifically against women of color. He made a song to celebrate his own mother, but outright refused to give the same show of respect to other women in his life. His hypocritical nature was brushed off in later decades, just the way I did now.
N.W.A is the same. Sexual assault charges, violence—they spoke of Police reform, but refuses to give the same treatment back towards the women in their lives.
50 cent refuses to backtrack on any of his misogynistic lyrics.
Modern rappers of today, such as the dead XXXtentacion. 6ix9ine. Kodak Black.
I do love Hip-Hop. I love rap. And the music itself has always been anti-authoritarian at its core, because those are its roots. And I was happy that circles that did not normally know of it or enjoy it were getting into it, even for one thing like this rap feud.
Lil Nas X, Little Simz, Childish Gambino, Missy Elliot, Queen Latifah, Lauryn Hill—rappers who have at the very least consistently tried to put their money where their mouth is. Who have tried to act in accordance to what they rap and write and sing for.
@shehungthemoon @ohsugarsims finnthehumanmp3 were the ones who rightfully clarified in the comments. I know an apology won't correct my hypocrisy or my stupidity. I should have added all of this before making this post, but I wanted so badly to celebrate a genre of music but failed to do my due diligence in showing a better, holistic view of it. If anyone felt triggered, offended, troubled, frustrated or any other intense negative emotions surrounding this, please do block me. I'm sorry.
