Fentonic 2024 - A February Danny Phantom, Art/Writing Monthly Prompt

Heya fellas! As I seen February did not have a monthly prompt yet for DP so I created one just for the kick of it! I made on for MLB with a very specific theme last October and I enjoyed it a lot so i thought i'd create another one, this time for DP as am mainly drawing for this fandom these days.

This challenge/prompt can be taken as a pure DP or a DC x DP (Batpham) one. If u wanna spice it up? You can even mix in other fandoms too! Go wild!

This challenge/prompt can be taken as both an art or a writing one, whichever you'd prefer. I tried to make it so all days can be both drawn and written with the given prompts (at least one of the two). Hope i managed it well enough.

As February is mainly know for Valentine's it will contain a few romatic prompts but most can be taken as platonic. For those not comfortable with writing or drawing romance: feel free to leave out that half of the prompt or even skip that day, no pressure.

✨Prepare for an unsolicited info dump✨

I was tagged by @vixstarria , thanks so much for the tag friend!

• Do you make your bed?: well, I kind of just roll up the quilt/sheets so that it covers the bed but it always looks like shit lol.

• Favorite number: 7

• What’s your job?: I have.. a few of them. I do contract graphic design work for a local publishing company, I’m an artist and design my own T shirts/stickers and also do commissions - I love my jobs :> (well aside from the publishing company that one sucks)

• If you could go back to school would you?: Hell no, I hated school 😂 no… I just had undiagnosed adhd and struggled to keep my shit together. I made decent grades bc I always seemed to find a way to finagle things and make it work (mostly), but yeah the only thing I liked about it was meeting my best fren in college.

• Can you parallel park?: Ain’t no way. I’m a good driver for the most part but I can’t parallel park or back up into spaces for love nor money.

• Do you think aliens are real?: I’m positive that in the vast expanse of space there are many other intelligent beings but I don’t think they’re coming to earth. I’ve seen UFO’s multiple times in my life (with other ppl they can back me up lol) but tbh I just think it’s secret human technology that we plebs could not possibly fathom.

• Can you drive a manual car?: NAH

• What’s your guilty pleasure?: Good god I should feel guilty about all my pleasures but I reckon it’d be chugging Coke Zero and (7 times out of 10) staying up waaay too late for any responsible adult to be staying up.

• Tattoos?: I have 3, snowflakes on my right ankle (bc I’m a special snowflake but no actually I just really love snow lol), a pair of small wings (that I drew/had tattooed on me when I was 19) on my left shoulder and a garbage heap that was supposed to be the start of a back piece with a spine/roots that was tattooed far too deep (it’s scarred all to hell), crooked and ruined me of ever wanting another tattoo again lol. Seriously… it’s awful. (But I do want to get some small fandom tattoos one day)

• Favorite color?: I’m an edgelord so my favorite color is black (I know it’s a shade not a color)… color wise I guess probably purplish colors

• Favorite types of music?: Neoclassic/classical Instumental is what makes my soul sing, but alternative folksy music and varying degrees of ‘rock’. Post mortem themes are a plus (edgelord)

• Do you like puzzles?: sometimes, when my brain cooperates!

• Any phobias?: oh god… yeah. Worms/centipedes/ maggots, claustrophobia, games with underwater elements (thanks Ecco the dolphin for that irrational lifelong fear), mouse/rat traps (it’s the snapping), things cutting my hands/feet, ripping off a nail, lots of bugs in one space, calling people on the phone

• Favorite childhood sport: LOL

• Do you talk to yourself?: I have adhd and work from home, so yes, nonstop. I also talk to myself when I’m shopping (I judge everything very hard ok, the items and prices — they need commentary)

• What movies do you adore?: I don’t watch a lot of movies (adhd) and I’m not super fond of any of them aside from the LOTR movies and like… slingblade (for the quotes)

• Coffee or tea?: I love coffee but it doesn’t love me (and low acid/caffeine coffee just doesn’t hit the same) but I also drink liquid death tea nonstop so I guess Tea wins lol.

• First thing you wanted to be when growing up?: A paleontologist lol… then just an artist.. damn I dreamed so big, so bold

2023 in summary - slightly less productive than 2022, with way more speed bumps than usual (lying catatonic in bed for a month was not on the agenda, surprisingly). Here's to a better 2024!

Fandoms: I added to the chaos this year by jumping into Top Gun Maverick, but Ao3 tells me my beloved in 2023 was 911 Lone Star. I also wrote more RWRB fics, so that rounded out the holy trinity.

Total words (on Ao3) in 2023: 404,508 of posted fic (with a few thousand yet to go). 2023 pushed my total word count over 1 million 💜

1. Why do you like or dislike this character?

Day and Night Rikuo is in my "Top Blorbos from different fandoms" because well.. for day Rikuo he tries his best to be a nice person which is something i respect :] And he's just so. scrunkly. I love it, i also love how polite he is compared to his night form and speaking of Night Rikuo, he's a chill and nonchalant and also sassy, there's just something intriguing about nonchalant, sassy men... (Cough, Kaeya) I also adore his design like?? Peak, IT'S SO AWESOME !! I hate drawing his hair tho

Yura my beloved, her design is simple yet appealing and also, SHE'S BADASS!! I LOVE BADASS WOMEN!! She's also a dumbass at times (Shes just like me fr) I also love her personality and how caring she is, best girl best girl :]] Also her shikigamis are awesome

Rikuo wears eye contacts in his Night form, since he's nearsighted so when Gyuuki and Tengu trained him after he just woke up, he was having difficulty seeing whats happening in front of him

Yura likes comedy! She also reads manga on her freetime

Christmas Reruns 2023 Day 2: A Christmas Miracle (2/3)

Merry Christmas if you celebrate it and happy holidays if you don’t!  One of the things I love about Christmas is watching reruns of all the old classic Christmas movies–Christmas is a big time for nostalgia.  A few years ago, I decided to incorporate that tradition into my fandom life and post my CS holiday reruns.  So here you go!  Enough holiday (mostly) fluff to get you to New Year’s Day. (With a new story posting on Christmas Day.)

Note:  This is chapter two of my 2013 story A Christmas Miracle.  It was written just before the end of the Neverland arc and it fits within my “A Wish Your Heart Makes” universe.  References to curses and Camelot refer to that verse!

Hook adjusted the collar of his leather coat and then stepped from the hallway into Granny’s dining room. The chamber had been utterly transformed. A huge pine tree decorated with brightly colored lights, tinsel and hundreds of ornaments took up an entire corner. Red and green streamers, sprigs of holly and huge paper snowflakes adorned the wall and ceiling. Several small tables had been pushed together to form one long table elaborately set for nine.

As he sauntered into the room, Hook looked over the gathered assembly. Baelfire stood with Belle and the Crocodile, talking and laughing. Belle gazed adoringly up at the Crocodile, and he raised a hand to tenderly stroke her face. Hook waited for the familiar burning hatred to steal over him at the sight of his erstwhile enemy, but it never came. For that matter, it hadn’t come in quite some time. When had he given up the last vestiges of his vengeance?

Hook looked past Snow and Charming, busy with last minute preparations, to Emma and her lad who stood talking and laughing near the booths. Suddenly he knew exactly when his hatred for the crocodile had vanished. It was the moment he had finally let go of Milah’s memory, the moment he had fallen deeply, passionately, irretrievably in love with Emma Swan.

The lass was beautiful this evening. She wore an ice-blue tea-length gown and a matching lacy bolero sweater. Her golden hair was swept up at the sides and fell in riotous curls down her back. Hook didn’t think he’d ever seen her in formal attire, and the effect nearly stole the breath from his lungs.

As though feeling his gaze, Emma looked up and caught his eye. She colored slightly at the look he gave her, and then dropped her eyes. Hook sighed and walked forward toward his lady and her lad. Would he ever succeed in scaling that well-fortified fortress that she had built around her heart?

“Hook!” Henry called joyfully when the pirate was a few feet away. “I didn’t know you were coming too!”

Hook grinned and tousled the boy’s hair. “Aye lad; that I am.”

“Cool!” Henry beamed at him. Hook had spent quite some time with the lad during their last adventure, and he found he genuinely enjoyed the boy’s company. It gratified him that Emma’s son seemed glad to see him as well.

The diner door opened, and Regina stepped in, brushed the snow from her dark hair, and shrugged out of her coat.

“Mom!” Henry called, walking over to the queen.

Hook looked back at Emma, and she looked suddenly shy.

“You’re stunning, love,” Hook said with a soft smile. Emma’s blush grew.

“But then again,” he continued, his grin turning wicked, “I’ve no doubt you would be stunning in whatever you wore…or didn’t wear.”

She rolled her eyes at that, but he noticed she couldn’t quite stop the grin that spread over her lips.

“Please,” she said, “You are so full of it, Hook.”

His grin was pure pirate. “Full of charm, charisma, astonishingly good looks?” he drawled. “Aye lass; that I am.”

She laughed and playfully shoved his shoulder. He caught her hand and brought it to his lips. He was making headway, he knew it. He was starting to see a slight crack in that wall of hers.

“Ok, everyone,” Snow called from the table where she had just placed a fragrant, steaming turkey, “dinner’s ready.”

“Shall we?” Hook asked, gesturing with his hook.

Emma nodded and Hook followed her to the table. She took a seat next to Henry, and Hook seated himself on her other side. The Charmings had procured a veritable Christmas feast complete with turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables and cranberry sauce. Hook’s mouth watered at the delicious aromas. He suddenly remembered it had been hours since his last meal.

At the head of the table, Charming stood and tapped his wine glass with a knife.

“I would like to propose a toast,” he said, encompassing the whole group with his gaze. “It has been a rough year for all of us. We’ve dealt with difficulties, setbacks, danger, and heartbreak.”

Charming glanced at Regina, and the queen dropped her eyes. Hook felt a surge of pity for the woman. She had found Robin Hood, her true love, in the Enchanted Forest, and it looked like she would finally get her happy ending. Then they had found a way back to Storybrook…a way that couldn’t include Robin Hood and his little son. Hook knew all too well what it felt like to be separated from the one you love.

“But it has been a good year, as well,” Charming continued. “We’ve faced our challenges, and we’ve overcome them. We’ve succeeded in breaking not only one, but two curses, and we’ve succeeded in rescuing Henry from one of the most evil villains in any realm. Through it all, we’ve come to be a family. We’ve been able to put aside our grievances, our difficulties, even our hatred and work together toward some pretty difficult goals.”

Charming raised his glass higher and once more swept his gaze over the entire assembly. “So I ask you to raise your glasses. To family and friends and all those we love!”

Hook got to his feet with everyone else and raised his glass filled with ruby-red wine. Clinking his glass against Emma’s, he looked into her eyes. He held her gaze as he repeated “To family and friends and all those we love!”

Emma’s heart raced. She should look away, turn in the other direction, anything. But she simply couldn’t do it. His blue eyes were simply mesmerizing. That look on his face! What was she to do? There was no denying the attraction she felt toward him. After their kiss in Neverland, she couldn’t even pretend to herself that he meant nothing to her.

But he was a pirate! He flirted with anything in skirts. How could she possibly believe that he loved her and would fight for her? How could she let her guard down enough to give her heart to another man?

Besides, she was the savior, and, well, it seemed that meant she didn’t get her happy ending. She ensured everyone else had a chance at a happy ending, but it wasn’t in the cards for her. Hadn’t everything that had happened over the last few months proved that? As soon as one crisis ended another began.

“Uh, mom?” she heard Henry ask from her side.

The spell was broken; she was finally able to tear her gaze from Hook’s. Looking around, she saw that every single person at the table was seated but her and her pirate…and every single eye was on them. For the love of all that was holy, what was wrong with her? She dropped hastily to her seat and drained her glass of wine.

“You don’t happen to have an extra flask on you?” she asked Hook in a low voice.

“No, love,” he answered, laughter in his voice.

5 tumblr ask ficlets, 6 collabs (3 writing collabs and 3 where someone did else did the art and I did the writing) 4 gift fics, and 5 fest fics. Shield Me is the only fic that doesn’t fall in any of these categories. I just wrote it because I wanted to!

Other trends/themes:

3 of these fics are friends to lovers (surprise, surprise) 10 are getting together, 5 established relationship, 4 AUs, 6 canon divergent, 4 canon compliant, 8 Teen rated, 7 Mature or Explicit.

Some takeaways:

Apparently I like accountability (or perhaps it’s the community piece) because there were a lot of fests/collabs/asks/gifts that sort of inherently keep you on a path to completion. I wrote some other things that are just sort of languishing in my docs and I think because they weren’t tied to any other creators or events they are still sitting there. Partly it’s because these other fics took priority because of deadlines or what have you. But maybe the motivation just fizzled out. Shield Me is the only exception to this rule! It’s also worth noting that Shield Me was my top kudos fic for a long spell, so maybe there’s something to writing what I want, when I want, and not when a ton of others are publishing at the same time for the same event. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I like this one because it takes us right to the crux of what’s going on in this fic: Baz keeps making Simon go off in order to feel Simon protect him when he does.

Finish my two WIPs How to Avoid a Scandal and Depth of Reason, ideally before they both turn a year old. My guess is it will take me 5-6 months to finish them.

Don’t sign up for a million things and over extend myself! (See two WIPs above from May and July that still aren’t finished🙃)

Read more! Especially longer fics, seeing as all my faves fell in this category. And do more fic rec posts maybe.

Run CORB again? Maybe? Last year was the first year and it was a fun event went pretty well. I learned a lot and hopefully can make it a bit better this year. We shall see.

Beyond that, I don’t really know! Another fandom meet up would be fun!

3, 10, and 18 for the writing asks! 💜

3. What’s your favorite fic that you’ve written?

That depends on the time of day and the direction of the wind and whether the geese are flying south, BUT maybe the most reliable answer is that my favourite fic is always the one I'm currently writing. That means it's in my head and I live with it like a fascinating and sometimes bothersome housemate, but I love that creative energy and the puzzle of putting the idea into (always imperfect) words.

By this metric, my favourite is flowers in dreamland weather (Nirvana in Fire), which is eating a hole into my mind whenever I'm not putting down words for it. I have thought entirely too much about the sex lives of immensely proper fictional Chinese people as of late.

However, shout-out to The Stair Into the Sea (Shadowhunters), which is the closest thing to a novel I've ever written and which, despite the long delay between chapters, is always at the back of my mind. It's the most ambitious thing I've ever attempted and I will finish it one day.

10. Is there a fic that got a different response than you were expecting?

I think I'm reasonably good at gauging which fic will get more or less attention, at least once I've been in a fandom for a while. The fake marriage college AU will get a different reception from the niche worldbuilding fic or the obscure video game crossover.

I am still pleasantly surprised that you who have come from my old country (Shadowhunters, future fic where one half of the OTP is dead) got such a positive response, and I still get the occasional comment for it. Its premise definitely went counter to fandom's general tastes, but it was such a strong image that I had to write it.

18. What’s one of your favorite lines you’ve written in a fic?

I have many, I will confess! I'll post this ask and then immediately think of three more. But I reread Will They Sing of Us (Shadowhunters) recently, and I liked this bit so much I put it in the summary, and yeah, it still really works for me:

The witchlight casts Alec in a jagged interplay of light and shadow, scintillating on the stray snowflakes that cling to his hair and sharpening the fresh scar on his cheek. He, too, looks thinner—and older, more worn than his twenty-six years should make possible. Magnus would break the world for him. Alec would not thank him for it. As much as violence is part of his birthright, as much as he relies on the role of the soldier to order his existence, Alec is a builder, not a destroyer. He believes his people worthy of redemption. He believes Magnus worthy of it, even in those moments when Magnus himself can't see as clearly. And Magnus loves him. That is where everything begins.

The vast majority of them have happy endings as I rarely write sad ones.

Used to back in the day when I wrote Ten/Martha fic for Doctor Who. There were a lot of Doctor/Rose shippers who hated my pairing with a passion and didn’t hesitate to share that hate instead of just staying in their fucking lane and using the back button/scroll button. Bunch of snowflakes.

Not hate but a complaint on my gallacrafts for theme 11 I'm fucking gay. I got an anon asking why I made the lesbian flag & put the phrase I'm fucking gay & i that should have just done lesbian although I had actually made both but it was on the part 2 bc i had a limit of 10 pictures.

Gallavich most definitely, they hit all my likes in a ship plus they're canon & married to boot! #spoiled 😆

Yeah I started getting back into drawing with makinng flowers for mutual's birthday 🥰 I've also made little mascots of baby animals for my niece's baby shower

Probably the GGE2022 for Macy. I had some other ideas. Also their poses were gonna be different like it was either the back of them looking at snow or tumbled into the snow on top of an ny roof top but still not the best at figure drawing so i just did the best of my abilities 😄

I would say my good omens au I simply adorethe little details I put into the drawing. I referenced Mickey's outfit in Ian's delete scene dream. Ian's outfit is 7x10 just in darker colours. I loved being able to create Ian's ombre eyes by colour picking Cameron's hazel ones. Ian's hair shading. The heart wings & being able to creat the wing texture on the angel wing. AND their signature shows with the timberland & bright read air forces!!! I had such a fun time drawing this 🥰 Also it was my 100,000 post lol

18. What is one thing you’d like to tell people about your art that they might not know?

My gallavich art is the first time I've been colouring my drawings. When I drew a lot in high school I would just do the line art & was too hesitant to colour them.

19. What inspires or motivates you to create for fandom?

Definitely you guys! Being able to make you guys smile. As well as your creations & the creating events 💕🖌

I do like to crawl up into a hunched ball on the lounge couch or my bed (which should stop bad for posture lol) Then I do enjoy playing YouTube video essays about internet history/horror games I'd never play or movie reactions.

Also, I am more of an artist who researches & and works with many references. I got a whole lotta unclosed tabs of Ian & Mickey, body poses & clothes that i forgot to close lol.

Donna Noble misses world events. It’s something of a running joke with her friends and her husband and even her kid. Gramps doesn’t find it funny.

Donna always seems to be saying something Gramps doesn’t find funny. He used to be a lot happier, a lot jollier, a lot more willing to accept a joke about her own… well quite frankly, it’s stupidity. She’s a good temp and that’s about it. Not special, not important, the only unique thing about her is that she keeps missing events of a lifetime.

Rose jokes about it, when she comes out. Says that she’s glad Donna didn’t miss the fact that she’s a girl now, and Donna laughs and ruffles her daughter’s hair and says she wouldn’t miss it for the world.

Donna Noble misses world events, and when the others are talking about them she stands on the sidelines, not quite being able to fit in. Donna Noble misses world events, like that one Christmas where a giant snowflake appeared in the sky and the Thames drained.

Donna Noble misses little things. She doesn’t know what she was doing that Christmas. She has dreams that feel like memories and they make no sense. Donna Noble misses world events. Donna Noble misses parts of her life. Donna Noble misses her best friend and she doesn’t even know it.

Mum and Gramps tiptoe around her like she’s made of glass sometimes. Gramps is nervous about taking her up the hill. She snaps at him, once, says she’s not stupid and he’s so hurt, he touches her arm and he says, “I know. I’m just worried.”

Donna Noble misses world events. Donna Noble is one stray thought away from burning into ash. Donna Noble can’t remember when she was the most important woman in the universe. Donna Noble misses world events, and that is all she knows she misses.

Will had been having a hard time since coming back from Skandia. Halt had thought he was improving over the summer, but with the first snowflakes now falling Will had retreated into himself, becoming more quiet, shivering whenever he looked outside.

And Halt thought he might have found something that would help.

'Just delivered,' the vendor said, placing it on the counter. 'I put a rush on it for you.'

Halt opened up the case to check inside, and as soon as he saw it, he remembered that sunny day in fall.

'When did you get a lute?' Halt asked.

'It's a mandola, actually,' Caitlyn said, plucking the strings. 'A mandola has eight strings tuned in pairs, but lutes have ten strings.' She played a couple of notes. 'Mum got it for me. Ever since...well, since I got ill, Mum's been hoping I could do something "productive", as she called it.'

Yes, that sounded like their mum, indeed. 'Do you like it?' he asked.

Caitlyn smiled. 'I think I do! Listen to this.' And she played him a small little tune, the opening bars of the Ballad of the Sunrise Warrior.

'That is nice, yes,' Halt said. He couldn't stop his mischievous grin. 'Looks like a nice lute.'

'It's a mandola!'

'That will be seventy royals,' the vendor said.

Seventy royals was quite steep on a Ranger's salary.

Halt paid it, and tipped him five extra royals for having it delivered so quickly.

Halt was pouring coffee when he heard Will come in. 'I got the wood all chopped,' he said. 'And the horses have fresh oats—What's that?'

'Some kind of lute,' Halt said, not turning around.

He heard Will walk to the table and open the case, then a quiet intake of breath. It really was a well-made mandola - Halt knew enough about music to know that much.

The vendor had included a small selection of simple music sheets and basic instructions for playing. Will spoke up again after a moment. 'This says it's a mandola. It's similar to a lute, but not quite. Did you buy this?'

Halt shrugged, picking up the mugs of coffee to take them to the table, but before he could take a step Will hugged him tightly from behind, half knocking the wind out of him and almost sending him staggering. After a moment Will let go and went back to the mandola case, and ran his fingers over the strings. He looked up at Halt. 'Can I try it out now?'

It was the first time in a while Will had shown genuine interest in something, and despite his effort to maintain his gruff demeanour, Halt knew some of his relief showed through. 'Oh, all right. It's just a lute, it's not like you can do much harm with it.'

'It's a mandola,' Will said, looking back at it.

'That's what I said,' Halt said, taking his coffee and sitting by the fire. 'A lute.'
