Hi 🙂 I have a question. Probably very strange. As we know, kyo has many, many tattoos, I don't know if they all mean something or just some of them. Maybe he just liked some of them and that's why he has them. But most of them have some meaning, a message. Do You know if the middle finger of the right hand tattooed in black has any meaning? Has kyo ever mentioned this? Was it just supposed to look cool?

It took me quite a while to look it up, but I think I confirmed what happened. I always understood it to be a coverup, and indeed, Kyo got a tattoo on his middle finger in 2006, then it was covered up by no later than 2009. This is what it looked like before the coverup, roughly from The Family Values tour:

I'm not sure if something about the (Christian) cross came to bother him, or if he tried to add something higher up on that finger that had to be covered along with the rest while they were at it. Looking at those fingers now, the blank fingertips do seem uncool compared to having one finger blackened out from knuckle to tip!

Born 8 July 1989 in Helsinki, Finland, Emma began karting at the age of 5. She started her professional career in 2005 in several Formula Ford series where she came close to winning the championship several times. She moved up to Formula Masters but her career was cut short in 2009 due to a lack of funding. She started a family during her break from motorsport and had a daughter named Fanni. In 2015 she continued racing in the STCC championship where she achieved several podiums. In the inaragual W Series season she was involved in a crash that re-ingited her neck injury which saw her having to sit out two rounds of the season. However she took a win in her comeback race and still managed to finish P5 in the standings. She finished 3rd place in the 2021 season with 1 win and 4 other podiums. She will race for Puma W Series team in the 2022 season alongside newcomer Tereza Bábíčková.

T: "Saturday Night Wrist"  Deftones (2006)

Q.2: When and how did you listen to that album for the first time? T: Deftones played a few songs of this album at  "THE FAMILY VALUES TOUR" in 2006.

Q.3 What part of the album inspired you the most?

T: Chi Cheng was the first finger-playing bassist that I thought was cool, I was fascinated with everything  about him.

Well, I can always make one more post. 😁 For today - 20 collected things from reading about them for months. 😅

While Olena does most of the cooking and she says, she can cook, she's convinced she's probably not the best / biggest cook. Nevertheless Zelenskyy always makes her compliments about her cooking. Olena admits that this probably doesn't mean much since he eats almost everything.

He almost fainted during Kyrylo's birth (and was accidentally in the delivery room). And waited under her hospital window when Sasha was born.

While Olena says she's not a fan of extravaganze romance, she still has a romantic side and sometimes wishes Zelenskyy would be more romantic (even though, as she admits, he can be pretty romantic and does a lot of romantic things). She joked, that sometimes date nights felt more like business meetings.

Zelenskyy said that his wife is a really good "editor" of his humour and can be "brutally" honest. While Olena thinks she probably doesn't have much of a big influence on him, Zelenskyy says that her opinion is also very important to him and he values it a lot.

Olena thinks she's funnier (Zelenskyy disagrees 😁) but Zelenskyy admits she's the better writer.

Zelenskyy says he randomly makes her gifts of all kinds and she's always confused why, but he says he does this since she made him the two biggest gifts in his life (Sasha and Kyrylo).

He renovated their first flat on his own (the Kyiv one).

Zelenskyy likes to keep everyone busy on vacation and plans trips and everything ... while Olena and the kids (and the fam and friends) just want to relax. According to her, he needs 2 - 3 days to be able to relax. The first time they were on vacation abroad was 2006.

Zelenskyy never proposed to her sooner since for him marriage = start of a family / kids and he felt that they were both not ready (they also had absolutely no / barely money) (Olena btw never was stressed about the fact he didn't ask sooner since she kind of always knew that sooner or later he would ask her). Funnily so, they married in September 2003, Sasha was born July 2004 ... 😇😉

They both never worked 1 day in their jobs (besides internships). They got their university diplomas and that's it (and Olena actually finished as one of the best of her year).

Zelenskyy said that they would either met or talk / text with each other almost every day. There are very rare days were they didn't saw or communicate with each other since they started dating. They would especially talk with each other when he was on tour. He also sleeps worse when he has to sleep without her. He also misses her (and the kids) terribly when they are apart. For example, according to Olena, during their time apart when she and the kids went into hiding and even afterwards since they can barely see him in person, Zelenskyy really sufferes and misses them a lot.

Zelenskyy also said that it was love at first sight for him when he met Olena, but needed a bit to realize he has feelings for her. Olena on the other side can't remember the first time they met. 😄 She was actually dating someone else / was in a relationship with someone else when she met Zelenskyy and had no plans to change this. But she connected with Zelenskyy so well and much and they had so many things to talk about and in common and he "convinced" her in the end to give him a chance. 😁

As much extrovert Zelenskyy is in public and with friends, Olena mentioned that he can be quite calm and taken back in private and needs this to "recharge". And while Olena is pretty shy / reserved in public several friends and Zelenskyy mentioned she can be quite outgoing and open and lively when she's with close friends and / or in a place she feels comfortable (even though it was not always like that and it developed over the years).

Zelenskyy said that he always tried to be with his family as much as possible and seeing them at least some minutes every day. But he also always worked hard to achieve their goals and provide for his family. Hencewise Olena became the "manager" of the family / home while he was the manager of Kvartal. Zelenskyy said that he always trusted her and knew she would decide the right things.

Olena said that she's probably the stricter parent because Zelenskyy will do absolutely everything for and with the kids, no matter what they ask. So she has to regulate that a bit and be the strict(er) parent. Zelenskyy always did gentle parenting when it came to his kids and Olena said that in all these years he never once raised his voice when it comes to the kids or said a grim word to them or was mad with them. He also doesn't like it when she's (too) strict with them and raises her voice.

Zelenskyy says that it was always important to him that he and Olena are equal in their relationship.

While the can fight, they do it (very) rarely and they say it's more like a (heated) discussion and not really fighting. Olena also says she can't be mad with her husband for long.

Olena's parents were unsure about Zelenskyy and if he is the right guy for Olena. They worried he will not be able to provide for her and their family (because of KVN and since he barely got money from it), but Olena always said that she has faith in him and he will come up with an idea / solution. When they saw how much he cares about Olena and how hard he works to provide for the family they no longer worried. Nowadays, according to Olena, her parents (especially her mom) love Zelenskyy so much that he's basically like a son to them. And Rymma views Olena as her own daughter. She was also very much Team Olena right from the start of the relationship and was also telling other women to leave Zelenskyy alone because he has Olena and he is no longer available. 😄 (Rymma Zelenska, the original shipper and Fan #1 😄)

Since they met at 17, their relationship was, of course, not always picture-perfect and Olena and Zelenskyy said they also had some hard and difficult periodes (personally and in their relationship). But they always supported each other and stuck to each others side, because they always knew their love was much greater and they always wanted to be with the other one.

They both love to read and read a lot. Zelenskyy said he tried to read her favourite authors, but was only partly succesful since they are not really his cup of tea.

Okay I woke up this morning feeling like saying things some American gym fans don’t want to hear on reddit so I might as well annoy some people on tumblr too.

1) Training for the Olympics is a hard long process even if you are Simone Biles.  When she took a year off after Rio she talked about how out of shape she was when she started to train again.  She has also talked about how she lives in pain every day  "Pain is just something I live with and that is pretty odd for my age, right? It feels weird if I'm not in pain” as far back as 2019.  In the lead up to the Olympics in 2021 she was having her ankles wrapped between every rotation to an extent that looked painful just to do the wrapping.  She was also still having twisting issues while on the GOAT tour in late December.

There is no evidence that she is doing any gymnastics conditioning now much less training.  World Champion Center, the gym her family owns, is not a small operation and there hasn’t been a single video clip of her doing anything that would suggest an elite come back.

She did complain recently about being drug tested, meaning she’s still in the drug testing pool, but the context of the complaint was that she thought it was ridiculous that she was being drug tested because she hadn’t competed in almost a year.  

The general rule of thumb is that professional athletes in Olympic sports don’t officially retire until they absolutely have to because their value for advertisers is in their future potential.  McKayla Maroney was still making vague statements about coming back in 2015.  Carly Patterson was still making vague statements about coming back in 2006 despite the fact that she had a severe back injury that threatened her ability to walk for the rest of her life.  Simone is a unique athlete but she is not unique in this way.

But I think more directly.  Gymnastics does not appear to have been fun for her in the lead up to the Tokyo Olympics.  Not only was there the pain, and the fact that all the peers she grew up with had left the sport, but she explicitly said that she was continuing because she thought it was important that a Nassar survivor was still in competition to hold USAGs feet to the fire.  While it’s noble that she felt that sense of duty that’s ... not nessecarily a healthy reason for her to invest years of hard painful work in something she wasn’t enjoying.

If you are saying that you’ll believe she’s done when she says it... I ask.... will you?  Did you hear what she was saying the last few years when she said it?

2)  There are a number of American gym fans that think Jade Carey is a viable AA medal threat in Paris.  They justify that her bars improved a great deal (and that she gets 10s in NCAA gymnastics) and that she came in 8th in the Tokyo AA (with a fall) and a lot of people who came in ahead of her will not be in Paris.

First of all, Jade’s beam score in Tokyo was 11.533 with a fall.  Even if she had not fallen no one who finished ahead of her in Tokyo had a score as low as her beam score when she hit in qualifying.   Not beam score.  No one ahead of her in that AA had any score as low as her hit beam score.  Unless she can significantly increase her bars difficulty to be competitive with the other AAers who are building in padding there she’s not got a lot of room to grow there and the 2022-24 code of points devalued all the vaults so she has less padding in the Paris quad than she would have had on one of her best events from the Tokyo quad.

I also don’t think that the same logic about how well she did in the Tokyo AA is being applied to people who finished around her.  Elisabeth Seitz of Germany finished just behind Carey in Tokyo as a much more balanced all arounder and no one is suggesting she might take an AA medal in Paris.   Nina Derwael of Belgium who came in 6th in Tokyo with a FTY (that is she did a vault with a full twist and a half less than Carey’s Amanar) and almost a point and a half ahead of Carey.  She’s also been just out of the medals at two other AA competitions in the Tokyo quad.  Again the devaluing of vaults benefits her relative to Carey.

But that assumes Carey even MAKES another AA final.  She made the Tokyo one because Simone Biles scratched.  Leanne Wong, the 2021 World Silver medalist just took the US classic title with a score higher than Jades Tokyo AA (and she’s working on a Cheng eliminating Jade’s relative scoring advantage on vault to her).  Shilese Jones at 2021 classic finished with roughly the same score as Jades AA with two beam falls.  Konnor McClain also won Jesolo in 2022 with a higher score than Jades Tokyo AA.  Now it’s a little silly to compare scoring at a US domestic or Jesolo meet to the Olympics but my point is that is three viable American AAers who have a strong chance of placing higher than Jade in a US qualification all of whom are very likely to make a US team if healthy.  And I am not even including Sunisa Lee the Tokyo AA gold medalist who has also said she is making a run for Paris.  There is an extremely good chance that failing something weird like what happened in Tokyo that Jade Carey gets 2 per country-ed out of any AA in the future.

And just for historical curiosity here are the names of the 8th place finishers in the Olympic AA since the start of the Open Code.  I’d like to ask you if you would have considered them viable AA medalists in the next quad:  2008 Sandra Izbasa (ROM), 2012 Vanessa Ferrari (ITA), 2016 Asuka Teramoto (JPN).  

I’m not putting any of these women down, they’re wonderful even legendary gymnasts, and so is Carey.   She’s a lovely person and I understand why people want to root for her.  But I’m tired of seeing her Tokyo AA finish being used as evidence of her future prospects without context.
