The first evaluation was how messy the house was. It was clear there wasn’t an intention of leaving until they did. “The family left a month after…” Jane trailed off before wincing at the deteriorating food on the table. The end of her sentence would be a month after your disappearance. 

Your father was a photographer so neither twin were surprised to see an excessive amount of photographs. However it was strange how they were scattered around the house from the bookshelves to the floorboards. He slowly climbed the stairs glancing at the photographs varying from your grandparents to the youngest in your family. The house had been in the family for generations so it wasn’t surprising how much of the family and it’s memories still lingered here. 

 Your room was a pale magnolia colour and everything had been left untouched. A layer of dust coated everything. The room was scattered with paper, some writing, some doodles, some drawings as well as the now dried out water colour paint pallet. A huge canvas was leaning against the bottom of the bed. It was nothing sentimental, just a brown painted door. Your window was lined with white lace curtains that Alec imagined blew in the breeze as the sun shone in each morning. Now that it was dark out, it seemed oddly fitting for them to remain still, the room only illuminated by the moonlight. The small cartoon reached in, the door becoming real and they pulled it open. They stepped inside, offering one last wave, continuing to grin before closing the door which became nothing but a picture once more. 

It unsettled Alec greatly, made him wonder if you knew you’d be missing. How old was this? Why was it propped up in such a way? What was the meaning of this mini story, if there even was a meaning? Alec thought it’d be awfully simplistic that you were able to do such a trick and this is how you vanished without a trace but he had to be realistic.
