Alert on a Fake Author account

I'll start by saying I have no idea what this fake account's goals or motives are. They haven't asked for any personal info or done anything suspicious (to my knowledge) outside of impersonating an author, but that alone is alarming enough that I want to alert others.

I thought this was a bit of a strange way to open a conversation, given the issues with spelling, punctuation, and grammar, and that it's so vague. "But," I thought, "maybe this is a newbie author, or someone who's new to Tumblr, or both." So I checked their profile to see what they've been sharing and posting.

The answer is nothing. This account has exactly one original post and nothing else. That original post is also a little odd - there’s hashtags in the body of the post and a copy-pasted link instead of one inserted into the text. But that could all be chalked up to someone being unfamiliar with how Tumblr works.

What caught my attention more was the banner, profile picture, and blog title.

This isn't a new author - they have at least three books published. Add in the strange cropping on the profile picture and the blog title having an underscore in it when even the URL doesn't and something just felt strange.

So I did some Googling, and I found Sarah Goodwin's Instagram.

Confirmation: the Sarah Goodwin on Tumblr is fake.

Again, I don’t know what this person wants or why they felt motivated to impersonate this author, but it's cause for concern and reason enough not to interact with their account.

Be aware that this account has also created a Community, which I would similarly advise avoiding to be on the safe side.

I can't stress enough how this Fandom can be fxcking stupid so I'll take advantage of it to make a brief analysis

TikTok is back at it with being extremely gullible

people seriously believe this is Koyoharu Gotōge's official account. a quick glance would debunk it immediately, but if we wanna look into details there are mainly 3 things that are really obvious and they all piss me off SO bad:

1) they posted fanart. literal fanart, without consent, of course, and without any credits, badly cropped and filtered too. I couldn't see signatures in most of them, but I recognized some art styles and overall it's easy to spot non-official art when you also follow Ufotable's official account. from which, by the way, this fake account takes all of the content they post, then they write a silly and pseudo-cool caption and that's literally it. what's the point? one of the captions said something that quite fucking literally made me want to scream, joking about Shinobu possibly being Tengen's 4th wife because there was a pic in which their VAs were standing close....what. Gotōge would never say that???

2) they reply to fans, which isn't bad per se but let's be SO fr...and it's not even the worst part.

3) said replies include misinformation. saw them saying Masachika would be reincarnated as Sanemi's son or stepson (what the fuck) AND that Sanemi and Kanae would've been canon if Kanae didn't die, which, I'm sorry, is the fakest fucking thing I've ever read despite being a common misbelief.

I don't want to digress too much into this but imagine you're an author, you have the power over your characters and you decide to add a couple that will be doomed inevitably...you would make it canon, if it was supposed to be. you would AT LEAST make said crush remotely relevant in AT LEAST one of the two characters' arc...which it isn't. in ANY of the canon universes. the Academy is right there, the Timeskip is right there, both had Kanae alive and both don't make SaneKana canon, not even remotely. HEAVY ON THE TIMESKIP in which ObaMitsu are married, but they're canon in all the verses...Mitsuri had an actual impact on Obanai's character and even when there's silly trivia about him in databooks or even in the manga it always somehow involves Mitsuri, something that we did NOT see with Sanemi and Kanae.

now, as much as I would talk *endlessly* about this, I don't want to sound hateful to shippers, but it pisses me off that a Gotōge-wannabe is reinforcing the toxic shippers' delusions.

I would've lost my shit even if they said the same thing about my fav fanon ships, because it's FAKE.

if the author wanted them canon, they would be. there's no "if" nor "but", there was no excuse.

they clearly and luckily wanted to leave it to open interpretation

as an OC creator if I want a couple canon I simply write them in a way in which would make them canon in at least one AU 😭🙏🏻 tf

If you're following this account on Bluesky thinking it's Alex Hirsch, it's NOT him and Alex has confirmed it!

The account was already pretty sus, given it misspelled his name in the handle and the fact that if Alex himself had joined Bluesky, he would've said so by now. It was pretty clear it was a fake page but now we got confirmation from Alex Hirsch himself that it's not him.

A lot of people including Dana Terrace and some big names in the GF fandom are following that page. However, there's a popular extension that automatically follows Bluesky accounts of people you follow on Twitter. So, it likely was that what many who follow it used and it misinterpreted that account as being Alex's...hence why it caused so many people to follow that imposter account.

If you are following that page, unfollow it now and report it!

Do not respond to this! This is a fake account!!! They are trying to scam you by trying to get you to buy a pass and to donate money!!! I went along with it to see how this played out so I kept coming up with excuses! And they started getting more aggressive and pushing it up on me!! They wanted to get access to my bank it seemed or any app that holds all my money and information! They are a big fake and a scam! Very aggressive and rude! This makes me very upset!! This makes fans look at David differently as if he's some awful dude when really he is a sweet man! This hurts fans who get their hopes up thinking it's actually David when it's not him, and only to get scammed or get a bunch of aggressive texts towards them! This is sick! It's awful they are being completely disrespectful to this sweet man that we all love and know! This all needs to end now anyone who gets a message or anything report them immediately please!!!

Can all the fake Palestine/Gaza people PLEASE stop spamming me with PM's? It's getting really old and giving pornbot energy, so even if some of y'all are real I'm not even checking at this point.

Other reasons to stop messaging me:

1.I have no money

2.I'm on tumblr to have fun and I am hypersensitive so I'm not going to read something that might make me upset/try to guilt trip me into giving money.

3.If I was going to donate anywhere it would be to a vetted organization/aid group, not a random person. Why? Because I don't want to get scammed. And because I don't want to feel guilty over giving one person money but not another. I can't deal with that, so I'm going to leave it up to someone else.

4.I HAVE NO MONEY. I DON'T EVEN HAVE A GUARANTEED JOB YET FOR THE COMING SCHOOL YEAR. Like, literally, if I didn't live with my parents I would be homeless and living in my car even if I DID have a job.

I'm not trying to be mean, I want peace on Earth and end to wars as much as anyone, and if you are a real person who keeps sending me messages I'm sorry, I wish I could help you. Alright so, I have found a sort of crackpot and I really don't know what to do so, if anybody who sees this cares about trans women, especially those who are not yet out, and their physical health then please please share this around and signal boost it.

So, it started with this account following me, and at first glance it seems to just be another s15513 bot. But I looked at the posts further, and this person is claiming to provide HRT. (Hormone Replacement Therapy, for those who don't know)

However, it gets worse. If you look at the first post, it's @ing another account that is doing the same thing, and a few other posts that are reblogs have stolen pictures and fake thanks to this person. I blocked around 4 or 5 accounts all related back to this one account.

I'm almost entirely positive that everything is ran by the same person, because of how they spell things out. Especially "you're" being "u're"
