What started out as a relaxing woodland stroll soon turned into a terrifying ordeal for one woman from Meath, Ireland.
In legends and folklore, fairies usually tend to be depicted as mischievous but benign beings, yet there are also stories of encounters with these creatures that would seem to call this idea into serious doubt.
In this particular case, the woman, whose name has not been disclosed, took to social media recently to describe a terrifying ordeal she had recently experienced while walking on the Emerald Isle.
On this particular day she had decided to go for a stroll in a small area of well-frequented woodland when she passed through a fork in the road with identical trees on either side.
Despite the area being relatively small and a common route for locals, she found herself become completely lost in what seemed to be dense, remote and overgrown forest.
Retracing her steps to the crossroads, she took a different route but again ended up lost.
"I kept walking down a path towards a really overgrown area again," she wrote. "At that point then, I heard a really light woman's voice. I don't know how to describe it. It was really high."
"She was shouting 'over here'. I thought she was probably calling to her kids or something. Then she laughed and it was just when she laughed, the hairs on the back of my neck stood up."
"I have a very professional job. I'm not crazy. I'm quite logical but then the call came from the other side of me. I knew something wasn't right."
Concerned for her wellbeing, she again returned to the crossroads and attempted a different route.
Almost immediately, things seemed to change back to normal - the birds had started singing and she became aware of other walkers nearby.
After returning home, she struggled to make sense of what she had experienced.
"I was scared when she laughed," she wrote. "When she laughed, I don't think I've words in the English language for it. I had never heard someone laugh like that."
"I knew something was really wrong. I just got this really bad feeling that things were not going to end well for me if I didn't do something."

Frisk: "Oh, so you make fun of Asriel for not telling humans apart very well, but then you go and do this? Shame on you"
---------------
The character design for the new kid of "The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish" is so unintentionally hilarious. Hazel looks like a very sweet kid, and retired Cosmo and Wanda was a nice surprise, but holy shit out of all the fandoms they could accidentally reference, im wheezing

I know you've retold these before, but if you want to do one in the form of a flash fiction... My request would be The Goose Girl or Twelve Dancing Princesses.
I've pondered over a few possibilities for this prompt. This morning, I came up with an idea for a Twelve Dancing Princesses retelling that had me bolting out of bed to start writing. I don't know how to end the story, but I like the setup, so for the sake of sharing something, I thought I'd at least share what I have here.
*
Edmund slipped through the city streets, nimbly dodging around the people who couldn't see him. His pay jingled in his pocket--a gift from a generous shoemaker who'd been grateful for the invisible help--but no one heard. No one looked his way. No one ever did.
At the corner sat a ragged beggar child. Edmund was careful with his money now--he could never be sure of getting more--but he dropped the largest of his coins in her tin cup. She looked up--astonished at the miracle, confused when she couldn't see her benefactor--but didn't meet his gaze.
Edmund always noticed beggars now, after the one who'd cursed him. He'd been young and thoughtless then, newly released from the army with a pocket full of pay. A night in the tavern--celebrating the war's end--ate of most of it, and he stumbled into the streets at sunrise wondering how on earth he could make his money last.
He'd stumbled over the beggar woman, then pretended he didn't hear when she asked for a coin. He had none to spare; he had to look after himself.
Then she proved herself a fairy in disguise and pronounced his doom.
Because you have made yourself blind to the needs of others, this is your curse: to wander the world unseen until you give yourself entire to another.
An unbreakable curse, he'd found--a princess might marry a man sight unseen, but people of his own class liked to see their husbands before they wed.
So he wandered, scrounging where he could (never stealing--a fairy who cursed a man for ignoring a beggar would undoubtedly do much worse to a thief), sometimes doing odd jobs for men willing to arrange his hire and payment by letter. Doing unseen good where possible--at first in the hope that he might be observed by another fairy who'd reward him by lifting the curse, but then because he could--he could see the invisible problems, and give his help without shaming those who received it.
A hardscrabble, desperate life. Sometimes a satisfying one. But--more and more as the years went on--unbearably, unspeakably lonely.
The sun rose higher. The crowds increased. Edmund slipped into the doorway of an abandoned shop and considered waiting out the morning rush. Then he noticed that the entire crowd was drifting in one direction.
This was too much for an invisible man to resist. Edmund drifted at the rear of the crowd until the mass of people pooled around a fountain in the middle of a city square, where stood a royal messenger making a proclamation.
So declared the king: his daughters were wearing through their shoes every night, though the doors of their bedchamber were locked and bolted. The princes set upon the problem had all failed to solve the mystery. So the king decreed that any man who, in three nights' time, could solve the mystery of where the princesses went at night, could have his choice of one to wed.
The crowd gasped. Murmured. Chattered. Shared gossip and rumor. Wondered who'd be daft enough to take the challenge--princess or no, the men who'd tried to solve the mystery before had died.
But at the edge of the crowd, unseen by all, Edmund smiled.
He'd found the way to break his curse.

A.
I answer the doorbell. I see a sparkling Tinkerbell flitting in front of me (it could be shaped like something else but I need to instantly recognize that this is supposed to be a fairy).
Response: I take a sharp intake of breath, but (since the original pollmaker didn't specify immediate malicious intent) probably don't do much else except gawk. Until the fairy does something, I stand there bewildered, maybe scared IF I truly accept this is a mythical creature.
B.
I answer the doorbell. 4000lbs (1814kg) of writhing wrinkled grey flesh bends it's doughy head down from its 12 foot (3.66 meters) height to peer at me, two long white knives jutting from its hairy maw. It makes this noise:
youtube
Response: I scream. 100% I would scream if I saw a walrus at my front door. I don't scream very often but I know what conditions bring me to that state. A walrus meets those conditions. I don't have thoughts, I don't try to make sense of what I'm seeing. I scream and run.
Ergo, I would be more shocked by a walrus at my front door than a fairy. I understand others might have different perspectives, but I feel like the people actually getting mad at walrus-pickers are talking past us. No fairies aren't real, but we're talking about gut reactions, right? Not imagined logical assessments of impossible scenarios.

thinking about aromantic lucy
I saw a terf saying aspec people aren't actually queer so fuck them here's aromantic lucy heartfilia
cw: a few mentions of internalized arophobia
lucy who doesn't know that the word love exists until she reads it in one of the few fairytale books in her father's extensive library. lucy who doesn't quite get the kissing and the physicality and the fiery proclamations, but thinks that it's an okay price to pay for someone to be so passionate for her. to choose her and care about her, like her mother did before she passed.
lucy, who's eight years old and crying after another argument with her father, who summons aquarius and asks "do you love me?" aquarius feels her blood pressure rise, but seeing the broken look in her wielder's watery eyes, she decides to drop the snark. "I do, kid." "does that mean you wanna kiss me?" aquarius almost smacks lucy over the head.
lucy who doesn't quite understand the difference between how she cares for her spirits and how she felt about her mom. lucy who cares deeply for everyone who's important to her, who thinks that aquarius could just as easily be her knight in shining armor as the storybook prince. lucy who reads romance books because she wants someone like that in her life. lucy who's never had any friends besides aquarius. lucy who thinks it must be nice to have someone choose you, care about you, protect you. lucy decides that that's what love is.
lucy who's old enough to know she doesn't like her father. lucy who's so confused when she hates him but still cares about him. lucy who's old enough to run away from home but too young, too young.
lucy who joins fairy tail and has no idea what to expect. lucy who's startled by her new friends' openness and easy acceptance of her. lucy who blushes when natsu throws an arm around her, who feels warm and fuzzy when gray guides her by the small of her back, who has a lopsided grin on her face when erza links arms with her as they walk. lucy who suddenly thinks that she's in love with three people at once and panics (her storybooks never mentioned that!!).
lucy who turns to who she can confidently call her best friend, levy mcgarden, for help. levy sits her down with a cup of hot chocolate and cookies. they talk for hours about sexuality and attraction; lucy sleeps over that night. the word that sticks out the most in her mind is aromantic.
lucy who gets drunk at a party and gets a little too close to cana, and suddenly they're in cana's apartment, making out like there's no tomorrow. lucy who feels guilt creep up in the morning because she knows cana and gray and loke have something going, and she might've just ruined it. lucy who tears up when cana laughs because she's so, so confused. cana's expression morphs into concern and she wipes away her friend's tears, warm skin on skin. cana who tells lucy that what she does with gray and what she does with loke doesn't restrict her from what she does with other people. "we talked about it, I promise." cana reassures her. then, leaning in with a sexy smirk on her face, she whispers, "besides, they're probably jealous I took you home first~" the rush of heat is enough to make lucy's mind go blank with joy.
lucy who shyly asks cana about her relationships and learns so much she feels like her head is going to explode. lucy who has a crisis about her storybooks and her ideal romances. she's never going to have that, she realizes. it feels like someone's scooped out her chest.
lucy whose feelings ebb and flow like the tide. she's not used to this. being so... different. her storybooks are scattered across the floor, thrown in an angry fit. her door is locked, but her window isn't, and that's how natsu gets in. "you okay, luce? we haven’t seen you in a while."
the dam breaks. lucy sobs in natsu's arms, and all she can think is that this is the exact type of hurt/comfort scene she loves in her stories. she wishes she were normal, so she could love normally, so she could love natsu the normal way and be done with it. she doesn't realize she's talking out loud.
natsu cups her face, onyx eyes boring into chocolate ones. he squishes her cheeks together, the way he does when he thinks she's overthinking something. and then, natsu breaks through her entire crisis with three little words.
"does it matter?" he furrows his brow. "you're lucy, and I'm natsu, and I care about you." "but- I don't feel romantic attraction-" natsu huffs, frustrated that lucy's not getting something that's apparently obvious to him. "luce. I care about you, and I trust you, and I want to take care of you and protect you. who cares about anything else?" lucy blinks once, twice, and then she's sobbing again. natsu panics, because he knows he can be blunt and dismissive sometimes, but lucy barrels into him, clutching onto his scarf tightly.
"you care about me?" she whispers in a child's voice. that's more important to her than anything. romantic, platonic, the gray area in between, none of it matters as long as natsu cares.
natsu tightens his grip, wondering who he has to pummel for making his girl feel that way. "course I care about you, dummy. I'd burn down the world for you. and so would erza and gray and cana and everyone else."
lucy who has a really hard time moping when natsu's there every step of the way, trying to cheer her up. erza and gray show up, too, and it's hard to stay sad when she's being tickled by erza while gray cooks dinner and kicks natsu out of her kitchenette.
lucy who feels the hollow fill with something warm and gooey when erza gives her a hug, confessing that she often has trouble figuring out how she feels about anything. lucy laughs when erza tells her about the shenanigans that have happened when she doesn't pick up on someone flirting with her but gray and natsu do. she feels all fuzzy when gray leans against her, telling her that he feels the same way. his hand plays with hers, and she thinks it's nice how well they slot together.
lucy realizes when natsu falls asleep in her lap, arms wrapped protectively around her waist. lucy realizes when gray falls asleep at her side, erza tucked to his chest. lucy realizes that her friends make her feel like she's on top of the world, and she doesn't need a fairytale prince when she's got fairy tail.

Summary: Love lies in the most unexpected places. And Lucy found hers amidst the roar of the crowd and the sticky heat of an MMA arena, captivated by a striking fighter with sun-kissed skin and a shock of pink hair.
But they live in completely different lifestyles, and she has too much on her plate trying to live up to the Heartfillia name.
Can they have a happy ending, or will it end for nothing?

So.... Has anyone ever reached a realization that Kasumi's spirit appearing as the main basis for Cendrillon returning might actually symbolize her being more of Sumi's true fairy godmother character in her story as opposed to Maruki who was a more twisted version of that trope?
Like think about it for a sec... And this is coming from someone who adored the fairytale (Disney version especially) when they were little so... In any version, Cinderella's main traits are her selflessness and kindness along with bravery considering that despite the abuse she went through, she still stays kind and true to herself and does not let the abuse affect that. That's part of what makes her a rebel, albeit an unconventional kind.
Tumblr media
Sumi has those traits deep down (showcased by the lead up to her false awakening which she spoke more as Sumire since as I've mentioned before, her ultimate breaking point was more about hurting and letting her loved ones like Maruki and Joker down. She was more concerned about them as opposed thinking about herself or the scholarship) but the biggest problem was that she wasn't being true to herself and acted selfishly, even preferring to run away from her problems instead.
The fairy godmother character shows up when Cinderella was nearing her lowest point. It was even sometimes interpreted that the godmother represents Cinderella being rewarded for her unending kindness and unselfishness, leading to her happy ending.
When Maruki helped like so, it made things worse for her but when Kasumi's spirit showed up... It made things better for her and helped kickstart her own happily ever after. Just like the actual fairy godmother!
Tumblr media
Starting with bringing her Persona back and this was when Sumire regained the other traits she was starting to lack/lose and became more like Cinderella herself. She became brave enough to stand on her own feet and stop running, she shows more of her kindness to others and even Maruki despite what he did, and she became selfless by deciding to mourn and honor her sister properly by moving forward and not basically live as her for her own selfish reasons as that's what Kasumi would have actually wanted her to do.
In a sense, Maruki was unwittingly rewarding her selfish desires and enabling it. ("Accept this contract... The spell cast upon you.")
Kasumi's spirit on the other hand was rewarding her for being honest and not running anymore. ("Such tenacity... It seems to fit you better than ever before...")

Inspectoling, the Surveillance Borderling
Small, furry Borderlings resembling mammals. Their hind legs are like a mouse, but they have the front feet of a cat. They have tails twice the length of their bodies, which trails behind them freely like elegant ribbons. Their fur are beige in color with a light-yellow cream color on their ears, bellies, and tails. The Inspectolings" faces and wings are holographic, flickering slightly when touched. Physical contact with their fur causes imagery to flash in front of the Witness's eyes. These visions are described as vivid daydreams or hallucinations. The names the Witnesses have given this species of Borderling are the Neighborhood Watch.
The Inspectolings' masks and wings come in different colors and different shapes depending on the environment:
Colors discovered:
green, cyan, magenta yellow, red
Shapes discovered:
Terra - Antlers and mammal snout, branched wings
Caelum - Beaked and feathered wings, seen in the Codex
Angelus - Flat face with a halo, multiple birdlike wings
Diaboli - Flat face with small horns, multiple batlike wings
Insectum - Short snout with insect wings
Fatuus - Jester, curved beak with multiple horns, ornate wings
The Inspectolings have no organs. lf injured, they explode into a bright pink, sparking dust that slowly falls, reminiscent of fireworks. The substance disappears before touching the ground and causes nerves to tingle if touched.
They make no vocal sounds; instead, whenever the Borderlings move at a quick pace, such as hopping, running, or makingsharp turns, sounds of tiny bells resonate from their bodies.
The Inspectolings have a watchful disposition, holding their snouts up high and frequently pausing to check their surroundings. Frail and docile, they keep out of harm's way by watching from above. Rooftops, pylons, and tree branches are a few of the preferred locations for these Borderlings. They're quick to take flight when they sense trouble. For better travel, the Inspectolings levitate off the ground, as if they defy gravity. They don't need to flap their wings to take flight, but, as desired, they can.
Social Borderlings, the Inspectolings gather in groups of three or four. A single Inspectoling is rarely alone unless stranded from the group, Impure or injured.
The Inspectolings, when touched, share their hallucinogenic memories with one Witness at a time, depending on who they will choose. Every vision is clear without any skips and blurs, but it is temporarily kept by the Borderlings. Every memory will be erased in 24 hours, at midnight. Witnesses befriend these Borderlings to help them coexist with other Borderlings around the neighborhood and to gather data of any hostile and hazardous Borderlings.
After midnight, at exactly 12:01am, all the Inspectolings flicker then disappear, as if they're analog television screens. A second later, new ones appear to take their place. They have no prior memories at the start of generation. Inspectolings who befriend Witnesses will disappear and reappear 1 second after in a different location, 5ft from its formal spot.
The Inspectolings can be found everywhere around the world, mostly where there's high Borderling activity. Other signs of Inspectoling activity include holographic eyes that they left behind. They can easily be viewed best in dark places. The Inspectolings are generated by flickering into existence similar to static on an analog television screen. They disappear the same way. Inspectolings began scouting soon after they entered our world.
Following behind the Inspectolings are at least five light-drawn eyes. If desired, they leave these temporary "cameras" to check the area for any Borderling activity. After 3 hours, the eyes seem to close in an animated manner and shrink away. Through these disembodied eyes, The Inspectolings watch other Borderlings and gather information about Borderlings who are Pure and lmpure.
The faces and wings of Impure Inspectolings are unstable, flickering and distorting, and unable to keep a solid shape. They provide false memories when touched and will lead to misinformation about the Borderlings they watch and headaches up to 2 hours straight. If a Witness comes across an Impure Inspectoling, it's best not to touch them. Pure Inspectolings can banish their Impure counterparts by simply touching them.

Fairy tail spoilers s1 phantom lord arc
I'm rewatching fairytail and I always knew Gray was nice and one of my favs but I just realized that he is way more kind than he needs to be. The fact that he rescued Juvia, made sure she was okay, waited next to her until she woke up qnd when he said "You wanna go at it?" Meaning if she wants to continue fighting and Juvia misunderstood and started blushing and freaking out he was worried, saying "Hey are you okay? Talk to me Juvia!". Like omg he did not know her at that point. It was literally their very first interaction and she was his enemy. She powered a spell that was going to wipe out the entire city, she kidnapped Lucy once, wanted to kidnap her again and tried to kill him, tried to scorch his skin with boiling hot water. It would have been way more than understandable if he would've let her fall and splatter to the ground after he had beaten her and then go about his day like nothing happened. He was so kind for no reason other than the fact that he felt it was appropriate. I know for a fact that he would not have been like this with any other random woman. It was love at first sight and I'm calling it.

more sk8. I think the cindereki stuff is extremely stupid but I am not immune to trying to conceptualize a princess gown in any setting
#sk8 the infinity#kyan reki#hasegawa langa#renga#if ur wondering yes the first gown I uh. pulled? from the brothers grimm version's idea#which I do prefer to the perrault/disney version. specifically bc there's no fairy#there are three balls happening on three consecutive nights and each night cinderella gets a gown and accessories from a tree#growing on her mom's grave#(the version I grew up with (translated to vietnamese) actually wrote it to be her dad's grave instead I literally dont know why)#and the wording is like. ''rain gold and silver on me'' or something like that? which is why all of the dangly bits in that design#(dont worry about the rest of the brothers grimms version. thats not important. dont think about it its not in the room with us)#also in this post: future!renga bc of fucking course. who do you think I am. who do you think I am#I see a character I love I immediately try to imagine a good future for them it is Simply my ways#ft. the lethal combo of being three kinds of queer + adhd + a teen#may just be bc I myself don't go to college lol. but I can't really imagine reki going to college. he'd get apprenticeship somewhere#like immediately. on sight. some uncle in nago would snatch him up a sentence in#I waffle on langa but him just getting out of the biggest shock of his life + severe depression would Not let go of his loved ones#so tbh I can't imagine him leaving okinawa either. at least right after high school#langa has the advantage of not giving a single shit about ''his potentials'' so he'll be chasing life's pleasures for a hot second thank you#also I believe in reki speaking at least passable conversational english thank you. he's trans and gay in asia#he's just also the kind of guy who has to think for a hot second to remember which way the written number 3 faces#''nailed the logic just plugged the wrong number in several times'' kind of guy#while langa's the ''doesn't understand the fundamental concept of puzzles'' kind of guy#man. this is like having two homunculi implanted in my brain. welcome boys come join leon pokemon#talk to each others while I do my job ok? thank you#that said. the comm queue should be finished up soon#(funny thing to say about three comms I know. but I will say it anyway)#and I'll take a few days break to unclench my brain and then get back into it#every day I learn new things about the dip pen. its great#okay. nap now tho. anything else can wait
