Does anyone else ever think about the poeticness of the fairy fort changing their alliance to the shadow alliance when they did.
Only changing it after Martyn joined them
Only changing it after they lost Cleo
Only changing it after they lost the fairy fort
Only changing it after they moved to the Shadow Tower that shadows the original fort
ONLY CHANGING AFTER THEY BECAME A SHADOW OF THEIR FORMER SELF

here’s a kind-of-masterpost of the notes for my Last Life Fantasy AU !! i will add more to this in the future, but here’s what i’ve got now:
(its long so just click the read more)
General world notes:
Not really kingdoms since theres less than 20 people total but the various alliances do have castles/towers/homes of similar grandeur
There are fantastical creatures, but theyre not as common as normal animals, and none that the players come across are too extremely dangerous.
^ Except for the Wither! In which the Wither is a horrible decaying demonbeast that’s summoned by Grian
^ I’m thinking the typical Minecraft hostile mobs are replaced with things like kobolds and big rodents and . skeletons which ig are still the same
The Boogeyman is genuinely believed to be a curse in this world. No one quite knows where it comes from, but speculation ranges from ghosts to old magic to divine punishment
^ Those cursed by the Boogeyman become snappier, more on edge. There are no physical changes other than being visibly more tense, but it’s very hard to spot if you don’t know how to look for it
^ It’s also popularly believed that the curse will subtly enhance one’s strength and magical power, but also make them more vulnerable to attack
I haven’t decided if the members still have multiple lives, or if its more of an injury thing. I’m leaning toward the latter, in which someone is grievously injured in the place of dying (at least until the final death) because that also leaves room for life-giving to become healing magic. Perhaps one can only heal so many times before they become aggressive and combative in place of a red life? And different people are more or less vulnerable to that insanity
When I describe a person or group as ‘magical’ I mean that they can use magic at will. Any person can use magic if reading a spell that was written by a magic-user, but only some members can use magic without that. <— italics bc its important
^ The most common spells used by non-magic people are healing-related
^ Those with magical ability manifest it through instinct and will, rather than word-for-word spellcasting
Non-magic users can also use magical items, which are items enchanted by a magic user to perform a specific spell (ex. Scar’s crystals)
Fairy Fort/Shadow Alliance:
General:
Fae people. Generally humanoid-looking, if not for their pointed ears and shimmery skin. They have whimsical and nonpowerful magics
Primarily within a magically protected circle of dense trees, which is later burned down by Cleo after she’s betrayed
visually they are kind of 4 seasons coded… Lizzie being Spring, Bigb being Winter, Ren being Fall, and Cleo being Summer
Lizzie:
The strongest magic user of the group. Even so, she doesn’t use it to hurt people directly, more just for evasion and negotiation
BigB:
The boogeyman curse puts him much more on-edge than he normally is. He would have never thought he would kill a teammate, but the jitters and the pressure really got to him
Ren:
Can communicate with animals at a low level (not full conversations, just notions of instincts) due to his magical ties to dogs
Fiercely protective of Lizzie
^ Drawing on myths of fae: maybe he was once a dog himself but was transformed into a person by Lizzie?
Cleo:
Not quite a zombie but has ties to the dead. Generally just a green-skinned fae creature, but her injuries leave more prominent marks
The river over which they were betrayed is said to be cursed with Cleo’s blood
Team BEST:
General:
A team of knights who serve no crown. They serve each other and themselves, a tight but troubled group
This group has no magic users, but are the strongest in non-magical combat
They live in a castle which was once painted white, but has since faced some decay
They ride horses
Bdubs:
Doesn’t like to keep his helmet visor down because it obscures his vision. The visor gets torn off when he gets to his red life
Etho:
Wears a different style of armor from the rest of the team, both due to his own independence and his different fighting style
He prefers ranged combat to melee, meaning his armor is lighter and easier to move in
Skizz:
In the leadership role of this team, but by his own admission he’s not really their leader. He more just organizes plans and makes sure that everyone is on the same page
Highest in ‘rank’ and thus gets fancier armor. It’s not really stronger than any of his teammates’ but he gets a big feather on his helmet and a cape and some cool designs engraved in his armor :D
Tango:
Wears goggles instead of a helmet since he dabbles more in traps than combat. Pretty bad at melee anyway
Nonhuman but humanoid. Likely some infernal species? Not necessarily demonic, but he’s tied to heat and fire
Is more adept at performing spells as a non-magic user and therefore is always called on to heal Bdubs when he goes crazy (thanklessly)
Scottage/GGG:
General:
Wealthy in resources. Not magic users, but have access to various spells and magical items
More reserved than the other teams
Very skilled at less chaotic combat
Small but extravagant (artsy) castle
Pearl:
More combative than Scott
I gotta work the axolotls in somehow but I’m not quite sure how yet…
Scott:
Enjoys wearing more fancy outfits (cloak, gold accessories) but still relatively protected
Cleo:
Happily taken in my Pearl and Scott after leaving the fairy fort, wears much more armor then
Wears less extravagant accessories than Pearl or Scott
Magic Mountain:
General:
The most powerful magic users on the server (due to being wizards)
Not necessarily a team since they don’t work together much, but they have a wizard solidarity with each other
Live separately on the same mountain. Scar lives in a small-ish cobbly tower with lots of trinkets and hidden compartments. Joel lives in a cabin-like house within a small alcove in the mountain
Joel:
Visually more warlockish, but has no patron and therefore is a wizard. Uses his magic more directly and more aggressively than Scar– just replace all his traps in canon with spells (that mostly went wrong)
Not a very accurate magic user, but when he hits he hits hard
Evidence toward the theory that the Boogeyman curse makes you both more powerful and more volatile
Scar:
Rarely uses his magic directly, instead imbues his crystals with (often weak) spells for fun and profit
Is more of an accurate spellcaster than Joel is, but almost always uses his magic for selling and trading rather than attacking. He’s not great at combative spells anyway
Jellie as his familiar…………………thinkin about it
Southlands:
General:
Artisans and philosophers. Not as wealthy in resources as GGG, but they have a good amount at their disposal
^ Haughty A-HA!!!!!
Mostly unmagical, but it’s possible that Grian and Jimmy have some weak or dormant powers
Live in towers, similar to canon but more structural
Mumbo:
Artificer, proficient in small machines and automated farms
Martyn:
Philosopher who speculates on the nature of their world
Impulse:
Similar skills to Mumbo, but plays more of a diplomatic/negotiation role within the team
Builds larger farms and machines than Mumbo does
Jimmy:
Has a more peasant-ish outfit than his teammates
Proficient at building small devices like clocks and spyglasses
Grian:
More combative than his teammates
Astronomer, not as focused on that study as his teammates are on theirs

A fairy weaves a peaceful haven in a world of danger. Leaves overlapping, hounds at the door, and a beautiful, floral landscape. It's home, as much as anywhere in this foreign, hostile land can be home.
She tries, really, to make it work. To grow a soft mossy floor, to weave bright lights through the branches, to have enough life to spare to give it away to all who wish to take refuge in her kingdom.
A lone wolf swears fealty to her, and from that moment on, they are inseparable. He guards her land in exchange for a cause to follow. The two trust each other fully.
The neighboring kingdom is everything the land of fairies is not. It's cold and frozen, while the forest is soft and teeming with life. It's rigid and steadfast, unlike the mysterious clearing and soft mossy floors that seem to mold around those who visit, welcoming them to stay forever. The bright light reflecting off of the castle's snow is harsh in contrast to the soft light of fireflies and glowberries.
They manage to come together, despite it all. Queen, Hound, Bard, and Knight. And it works, for a while. They're strong, they make up for each other's weaknesses, and with their resources pooled, could possibly be the most prepared alliance inside the border.
But then, a curse sweeps through the land. It fills their lungs with a sickly sweet sensation, choking them on the stench of lavender and death.
The knight feels nothing. Her resolution is steadfast. But eventually, a glimmer of doubt pierces through, a response to the whispered warnings of the wind in the leaves.
The Queen and the Hound, loyal as ever, hunt together. The forest itself is their weapon. It lures prey in with tender embrace and peaceful lighting, mossy floor so relaxing that they hardly notice the roots tripping them and curling around them and trapping them in place while sword and fangs pierce in fiendish delight.
The Bard is fearful, conflicted. He doesn't want to hurt anyone. He doesn't think he can. But as the hours pass, the hunger only grows stronger, and it's as though his untrained arm moves on its own.
The river runs red with the Knight's blood. It flows to land, sinking into the roots of the forest. The curse has passed, but at what cost? The Bard holds their body and weeps, with naught else to do.
They have no choice but to abandon the forest. It's hostile now, ablaze with the Knight's wrath. The Fairy Queen no longer has a cozy clearing to call her own. Instead, the three of them live in a tower-- closed off, stone, unyielding. The crimson water laps at the base of their fort.
A mysterious traveler brings their numbers back to four, but it isn't the same. Everything is different. Without the caring embrace of the branches, there's a lingering sense of dread and fear. There's no more soft sunlight flickering through the leaves, only the harsh glare of lanterns. She is surrounded on every side by the very thing that destroyed her home. The cold stone is nothing like the soft moss, and although the curse has passed, she still feels bitter, as though a part of her burned up, too.
The resentment and anger grow and grow until all she can see is red. This time, there is no curse, only the jagged broken will of someone who has lost everything, who has watched everything she ever held dear be ripped from her hands. She plans to kill everyone who has ever wronged her.
But she never gets the chance. She dies unremarkably, an easy target in the wrong place in the wrong time. No one gained anything from her death. No one even took the time to mourn her. Her grave was marked only by the rose used to kill her. She was just... alone.
...
And then she wakes up again. And everything feels wrong.
"Some people work better alone." That's where she went wrong last time, after all. So she relishes in the "secrets," and keeps everyone at an arm's length.
It's better this way, isn't it?
The Secretkeeper sends her towards other people. Build bridges, they say, but bridges don't need to be crossed. It's safer, she reasons.
But... It's just so lonely. So, against all reason, she starts to try.
And then no one comes to her party. And she's dead, killed out of a mere curiosity. And she's angry again, bitter and angry, and just as alone as she was last time, so what was the point?
There's nothing left for her. Having friends, loneliness, betrayal, none of it ever mattered, did it? The only thing that counts is survival. And she learned this long ago, but it still stings something fierce, made all the worse by the time she's wasted dancing around the point of everything.
She fulfills all her dreams of connection, only to stab her so-called "friends" in the back. And it feels great! Revenge has always suited her well, she thinks.
But then she attacks the only person who was ever nice to her, just because he was an easy target. And she made the decision, and she knows he doesn't matter, so why does she still feel guilty?!
Why does she listen to him, agree to help him, and fail and die miserably and alone for someone else's task?! Just a moment and everything she's ever worked for has slipped from her grasp, and no one will even notice she's gone again--
...
She's still falling. floating through the void. It was all so damn pointless. Fort to Tower to Cottage to The End. No matter what she tries, it never works. She'll connect, and it'll only ever lead to pain and a steep cliff.
But the cliff was there even before, wasn't it? The end was inevitable. Whether she has allies or not, she still ends up here, surrounded by nothingness. So for the short time she has, maybe she should try, again and again and again. It's better than sitting alone in an empty void forever, right?
Maybe in the next life.

Faerie Fort Week Day Two -- Blood
Tear My Way In
Be careful of the curse that falls on young lovers— it starts so soft and sweet and turns them to hunters…
When Ren swears his loyalty to the Shadow Lady, the only thing that binds them is his word and a few netherwort sprouts, gladly passed over to solidify their alliance. He is eager for allies, knowing a man who goes through a game like this alone is a man who will not win, and the Shadow Lady and her court made up of the members the Castle on the Hill seem like a reasonable choice.
The next week, he walks through the gate of the Fairy Fort and sees the Shadow Lady standing there, the white of her underskirts spattered in red and her hands matching them, and the realization that she could have killed him at any time that day— she had come to the tower to see his progress, he had taken her up to the parapet, he had stood by her side and proudly explained each planned feature, basking in the warmth of her approval and her smile— hits him hard.
She must see it on his face, because she looks at him, a touch of hurt in her expression, and says to the clearing at large, as Cleo and BigB hover at a safe distance, "I wouldn't have gone after any of you, you know. There's no need to look so frightened."
All three of them hurry to reassure her that they hadn't had a doubt, really, it was just a surprise— and she lets it go after a little while, washing away the mistrust as easily as she rinses her hands in the river. Ren, standing guard and keeping an eye out for mobs (or disgruntled Scott and Pearls), watches the pink-tinged water run away from her and hopes he is never faced with such a choice. He remembers what being red was like, last time. If the Boogeyman's Curse is anything like that… Well, he'll say he's impressed by the Shadow Lady's self-restraint, if that's the case.
He wakes in the morning about a week later and immediately feels something off. There's a need to tear, bite, rend. To taste blood.
The curse has descended on him.
He does his best to ignore it; go about his business as usual. It's not terribly effective, however, and the only thing that soothes the bloodlust is digging the pit trap in the bottom of the tower. But the silence of the tower aggravates his already-on-edge nerves, and something— whether a search for distraction or the siren call of hot blood— pulls him out of his hole and into the forest.
The Shadow Lady is in her circle, building something. He keeps his tone light, unconcerned, as he inquires after any news he's missed while working on the tower. She straightens, and her eyes seem as though they can see through the smiling mask he's holding tight to his face. "Are you the Boogeyman?" she asks.
Every muscle tenses. He's been found out this early? When the Shadow Lady was cursed, she kept it from everyone. Surely she expects the same from him. "No," he lies.
"I don't believe you," she says plainly, and he just barely holds back his flinch. "But I trust you," she continues, and Ren is glad for his sunglasses, because he's staring at her now.
When he breaks, it's to her compassion, and really, he should have expected it. She knows better than any in their alliance what the curse is like; of course she would understand. She's even trying to help him in what way she can— without breaking the rules, of course.
When he finally lures Skizz into the trap, he dedicates the kill to his Shadow Queen, and the thread of their oath— once in word only— becomes an unbreakable one, sealed in blood.

I think about fairy fort all cutting their hair in last life except Ren so much
Cleo after BigB killed her, Lizzie when she went red, and BigB after Lizzie killed him
Cleo originally had hair about halfway down her back but cut it to shoulder length after BigB killed her
Lizzie had hair down to her butt and wore it half up half down double pintails but cut it after she turned red to a little past her shoulders and wore it in half up half spacebuns
BigB with locks just past his shoulders cutting it all off and having short curls after Lizzie killed him

okay Secret Life's over and I've only watched Cleo and Skizz's finales.
but I wanna rank the seasons just bc.
Secret Life is honestly 1 for me. it had my favourite alliances yet, I loved the Cletho + Grian team (I refuse to call them 'Roomies'), the Heart Foundation was amazing, the Mounders were pretty cool, I actually really enjoyed Lizzie and Scar being alone, no matter how sad it was. Big Dogs were amazing actually, one of the best pairings, most fun base in all the seasons just off the top of my head :]
but I have to say. first half of the season was my absolute favourite. silly tasks, BigB gaslighting everyone, Lizzie, Mumbo, Jimmy alive, etc etc. it's probably up until the episode they die where it felt like it decreased in enjoyment for me. the zombie apocalypse task was ehhhh, the vibe was cool, very LL energy, but I overall didn't like it all that much (I understand and appreciate it still, but the whole cancelling out other tasks was sad :[)
the vibes of this finale seem... weird.
and you might say I have no place to say that, having only watched two finales and getting spoiled on who the winner is yet again, but I personally didn't enjoy it. everyone felt extremely rushed and fumbled so hard. Joel in particular on his Skizz kill. Cleo didn't get a chance to defend herself, and neither did Etho, and presumably Grian. all the group ups felt off to me. I feel like the Heart Foundation should've stuck more to Cletho + Grian, they all could've done a bit better them I feel.
the massive group of people just sticking together and killing everyone else was a bit ehhh to me, but as Cleo put it, they'd have to kill each other eventually (ive watched it twice and I can't remember exactly what they say. I am a failure :[)
second is Last Life, I was insane over Team BEST for a while, but I'm more insane over Team TIES now (I have reasons I won't say teehee)
Mumbo and Lizzie are here!! they're cool!!
loved the mechanics for this season. boogeyman was very cool, and the random life count was epic. favourite mechanics actually.
lot of favourite deaths, Impulse's final death was pretty cool to me, betrayal deaths make me bite the bars of my cage, not looking at anyone in particular *ahem* BigB, Martyn's stupid yellow(?) death, Scar and BigB's final deaths were insane (Operation Bubblevator!!)
Fairy Fort was an insane alliance I never was that big on them when this season was active, but hooooollllly hell these guys. (Do me a favour. Die for me.)
the music disk, Etho freaking everyone out with it. the "Bogeyman", Southlands. Southlands just in general.
episode 6...........................
the final 8 survivors (-one. you know who they are they won it.) Pearl's boogey kill, her protecting Cleo, Joel's double kill, the final 2 battles. ough. this season had everything man. I hate the cold and winter but the wintery vibes of this season were immense and I loved it so much (no thanks to the Snow Fort...)
a lot of the final yellow kills were cool, in particular Etho and Cleo dying together, in the same order (twice in a row!!). Etho trying so hard to at least kill Ren before Pearl killed him is one of the most memorable moments for me.
and Mumbo screaming as Etho fishing rods him up into the air. and then the dogs.
and the lotion throw at the beginning of session 6.
and Lizzie's first death after failing to kill her husband. those are all extremely memorable moments :]
3L is next for almost no other reason than "nostalgia" purposes.
one thing I liked about this season was how innocent and pure everyone was.
idk about anyone else, but, except for its burning. s. I really enjoyed the Wool Castle. the swamp. and Etho trying to become Shrek or something. what was up with them
my favourite character from this season was undoubtedly Joel though. I LOVED his base, his dead bushes, Cleo dying to his roof, his roof constantly burning. with him. his army of dogs. first dog boy. Gerald. ine. I feel like he forgets his red skin at some point in this season and I really enjoyed the skin changes between colors.
also feel like him n Cleo tease Renchanting for being so loyal to Ren. (oh my go d they're actually calling him king!)
4th is Limited Life.
listen. I feel like I should like this season more than I did. I was sort of falling out of the Life Series at this point so I don't have much to say let alone remember.
but let me tell you.
Skynet.
5th is Double Life.
another season I feel like I should've enjoyed more. I loved Team Ranchers at first, but the way everyone sort of treated them was... whatever, and them people talking about Boat Boys made me live Boat Boys (I didn't feel much for them at first, but oh my gosh) but those two are my top two pairings (I can't pick between them rn)
I have no hate for this season
Scar and his allay buddy, being oblivious to who his soulmate is, Mickey Mouse. Scar was a pretty fun character, plus all his skins for this season were really cool!! insane over them still
all the pairings were really cool, I loved the Divorce Quarter, the Vultures. they were cool, I loved how they just refused their fate. (and how Martyn literally killed himself. and how Cleo was the only person to have died all three times while Martyn was partially responsible for all of them in some way.)
the pillar outside the Midcentury Modern Home or something. the fishing rod party. (Joel and Etho's demise-) one thing I feel like was overlooked with them was that Scott was like. wrong. about them. sure having the both of them pulled up so they take double damage was stupid. but it was Joel. who. died. and took all of their hearts. Etho didn't even hit the ground. in fact I think he barely even left it.
also one thing that makes me bite and tear at my cage is that Etho and Joel were the pairing to have died at the midpoint. 3 pairings died before them. 3 pairings died after them. and, despite Joel losing their earlier 2 lives, Etho being the first to die on their final life splits them into top half and bottom half, with Etho being 8th this season, and Joel being 7th.
also the Ranchers' Warden was-
