hihihi so as I was shopping at fairprice I had thoughts about AzuLeo headcannons (domestic) EEEEEEEK
warning: he/him Leo
Q: Who cooks more often?
A: I am a firm believer in Azucena housewife vibes. However I see them taking turns while cooking and helping each other when needed!
Q: Who is more busy?
A: They are both busy. However I think Leo would be more occupied with work, spelunking with Niklas to make up for lost time. Buttt, they always make time for each other no matter what :)
Q: If there is an argument/disagreement, how would they work it out?
A: During the argument, I 100% see Azucena making silly faces and mock reactions to try and win the whole thing, while Leo begs her to stop and shares the most logical solution. They do hug it out later and apologize. :3
Q: Sleep schedules/how they sleep?
A: Both sleep at appropriate times, but Leo wakes up earlier. However, poor Leo would wake up to Azucena putting the poor fellow in a ā€œchokeholdā€ kind of hugā€¦and murmuring coffee blends in her sleep. Haha.
Q: What do they do when the other is sick?
A: Knowing Leo, he would probably be alarmed when he notices that Azu isnā€™t energetic/looks weak, and immediately asks her to rest while he takes care of her, making coffee, taking her temp, accompanying her to the clinic, etc. :3 On the other hand, Azu is a little naive to the signs, but when she does notice it she brews a warm cup of coffee for him and covers him in a blanket.
Q: Love language???
A: Coffee. Cheek kisses. Tight hugs. Period.
Q: Common things they do together at home?
A: They brew coffee, discuss blends theyā€™ve tried, do chores (washing dishes, fold clothes, etc.), and do each otherā€™s hair!!!! ā˜ŗļøā˜ŗļøā˜ŗļø
Q: What do they do when one of them isnā€™t at home?
A: Leo would do desktop work, then feel unmotivated, take naps, and think about her all day. The poor boy would miss her, even if she were gone for a few hours. On the other hand, Azucena would spend the first hour drinking coffee and cleaning, but would spend the following hours waiting at the door for him to come home. If he is out for a long time, she calls him endlessly.
I wish I had more šŸ„¹ but thanks for reading all this :3

"write statement for what?" - Hamid Roslan - Singapore
Write statement for what? If write must
sign. Must appear on TV say sorry sorry
Ah Kong. Sotong. You think if you write
you must follow other people. If they
makan potato you swallow starchā€”huh
I cannot use starch? Should I cave in
to your force of habit, sight scanning
line swooning over turns & tricks?
Ok. Statement is metaphor for tuition,
for textbook, for discount sticker label
at Fairprice. Use your brain. If got formula
we sure export lah bodoh. Kan dah kena
bodoh. Donā€™t ask me for footnote. When
you read English you look up. They always
tell you speak up boy speak up
now I speak up
An axiom accents assumption, lends credence
to charred dust, dialect administration &...
basis to provide a blustering planet with
conventional approach: bitten apple,
jargon arrangement doctrines, supplication
of prose-ethics, parching creation in advance
& searing guidelines to the sound of a
found nationā€”in short...fundamentally
bankrolled & broiled with cooking method
to roast code, styled speech for vocabulary
regulation, not forgetting voicing universes,
entrusting seething vale to word-truth &
shriveled big blue marbles, loaning canon
to argot to world with protocol to communicate
ā€”which is to say: criterion, or rule, or
plunging dictum to conversation...or dogma, diction,
or to stake into discursive form a welt: doublespeak.

No more PAP or familee president.
Tharman - sponsor LHL
NKS - sponsor HC
TKL - Peopleā€™s President.
People, I think there is a huge misinformation about TKL being a PAP guy.
No, my friend TKL was never in politics. He was not a scholar but among the smartest in RI. He left RI after O level to work to support his family after his dad lost his job.
He was basically a civil servant working his way up as NTUC CEO. What is impressive about him is that he is able to jump start NTUC from a small co-op to what it is today.
He faced many challenges when he was CEO in NTUC. He wanted to benefit the workers by making NTUC policies the cheapest in the market by not paying agent well and not giving managenent huge pay. The profits he channeled into the policies giving holders generous bonuses.
He was very well liked by the agents because he was hardworking, humble and caring to them. He encouraged the agents to give to charities.
How do I know? My sister is one of his agents and I bought many policies through her. My insurance policies was the best investments I ever owned.
Sadly, he was asked to retire at 49 because the gov took over and make NTUC Co op a profit venture benefiting shareholders, management and directors. He is just a victim as us when he was asked to retire at 49.
Now NTUC insurance and Fairprice products are more expensive than their competitors. It is Shameless they no longer cater to workers though it still retain the co operative name.
TKL said through his presidency to help influence the gov to reduce unnecessary spending and give more benefits to the citizens. Not sure how he is going to do it but I don't doubt his sincerity. His heart is in the right place.
Please do reconsider giving him your votes instead of spoiling them.

wow the quality of the video really sucks after it has been compressed but well i donā€™t have a choice!
anyway, iā€™m moving back to tumblr again mainly cus wordpress sucks and itā€™s not allowing me to post videos unless i buy their premium plan which is tbh a no cus idk why platforms for blogging should even charge you for the features that they were supposed to have???? also sadly, tumblr also only lets you post 1 video per post limit which is why iā€™ve put the pics and videos i took into in one but itā€™s better than not being able to post a video at all.
so itā€™s our monthsary!!!!
weā€™ve been officially together for 3 years and 5 months now and wow, iā€™ve only just realised what a long time that is šŸ˜‚ honestly, if you want to count how long it has been since we first met each other, itā€™ll probably be about 8 years now. tho han sees it as 8 years but i see it as 3y5m cus idk who he was back then ya know what i mean? like i know the 3y5m him now than the him 8 years ago.
han sent me his live location as he does so every sat, and i was late. even tho he came all the way to my place i was still late :/ and i was so sorry šŸ˜ i know there shouldnā€™t be any excuses for my lateness but i have my reasons, even if anyone thinks it isnā€™t valid :/ so i alr prepared right? like i mentally prepared and visualize what i wanna wear and etc. and so i went to take a shower and all. and then my mom all of a sudden asked me to do things like ordering food for her, clipping her nails, airfrying some sotong balls cus she was feeling peckish. initially she asked me to order food, which i then did but it was immediately cancelled due to the weather. it suddenly rained really heavily. and then while i was in her room drying my hair, she suddenly said she wanted sotong balls which i then went to airfry. and then when i alr did that and continued drying my hair, she then asked me to clip her nails and i was like ā€œiā€™m going out ibu later farhan will be waiting for me alrā€ and she was like nvm la it will only take a while. so i did that and then i had to just rush cus i checked his live location and he was alr nearing tenaga area which is so damn close to my place alr. then i quickly picked out the outfit i wanted to wear. i mean come on, itā€™s our monthsary and i wanted to dress up right and i alr had this mental image of what i wanna wear right? so i took it out, wore it and then i realized that it was still a bit rainy??? like kinda drizzling so i figured heā€™ll be coming up first to wait till the rain totally stops but he texted me asking me to come down instead. and at this point i was sweating profusely. yeah, it was rainy but i was feeling so warm from rushing and doing so many things at once. oh ya, i was wearing this satin white shirt with shorts and that was my initial outfit like it looks laidback and casual and effortless but i decided to change cus i was perspiring and it felt so uncomfortable wearing a satin material when youā€™re perspiring like heck!! so i ended up wearing my fav tee with the same shorts and brought my hoodie along. itā€™s also my fav hoodie from uniqlo. i think their hoodie quality is bomz itā€™s not too thick or too thin and i wanna buy more but maybe wait till they have sales or something. so i ended up just looking super hobo as heck like it just looks like i didnā€™t even bother to dress up and i felt sad but i didnā€™t want han to be waiting even longer.
so when i went down he was alr sitting at the seats at the void deck and i can feel anger radiating within him lol like i knew he was mad and he still had his helmet on and his rain jacket on and all. and then he gave me different options of where to go for our lunch and then i just sat there pondering for a bit. and then i asked him if he wanted to put the jacket and pants at home but he didnā€™t want to so he took it off and then put it on the table and he took off his helmet as well. and then i asked him if we could eat at genki and he told me that genki was one of the options that he forgot to list so we decided on genki! his anger didnā€™t last long and as he stood up to head over to his bike i went to him and open up my arms cus i just wanted to hug him lolol then at first he tried to act all ā€œewā€ and moved away but he ended up hugging me anyway hehe and then donā€™t want to let go lol so bobo so cute. honestly iā€™m still shy??? around him wtf. like when i initiated the hug itself i felt so shy loooooollllll and when he didnā€™t wanna let go it made me blush wtf but ofc he canā€™t see cus we have to wear the stupid mask bc of stupid covid. i hate it wtf my face is so sensitive and itā€™s breaking out bc of having to wear the mask so my skin canā€™t breathe. like whatā€™s the point of me not wearing makeup underneath the mask when i still break out anyway right zzz hais. ok sorry side track a bit but ya hahaha so then i told him i wanted to show him something!!! and then he was like ā€œeh eh who said you let goā€ or was it ā€œwho said you can stop huggingā€ but itā€™s either one la hahaha then i took his hand and pull down my mask and then kissed his hand šŸ˜‚ then i told him to look and i said ā€œno transferā€!!!!!! hahahahaha cus i was wearing this lipstick and wtf man the formula is damn amazing really didnā€™t transfer anywhere at all. i even kissed my own hand and i even drank water but not transfer AT ALL. it was a gift i got from two years back i think hahaha for my bday from rai, a kylie kit and i havenā€™t worn it out before mainly bc the color didnā€™t suit my skintone cus the shade felt so light but when i wore it this time it felt like the shade was darker somehow? idk if i became pale from staying at home all the time or idk lol but i like the shade now šŸ˜Œ
oh at first i didnā€™t wanna go to tampines cus we always go to tampines hahaha and i guess i made a face and han teased me about it lol as much as it annoys me itā€™s a good kind of annoying? šŸ˜‚ cus heā€™s so cute whenever he teases me in that way lolol but we ended up just heading to tampines anyway cus he wanted to save up on petrol also and i thought ok ya cus he has to work now and he has to go to and fro everyday so itā€™s better for him to save the petrol as well. i put on my hoodie and then we went to the usual parking spot at tampines. and then bc both of our masks were down i could actually kiss him hehe. and then from there we walked to the front entrance of the mall cus of this covid thereā€™s only one in and out entrance but entering was a breeze tbh cus even tho there was a long line, we didnā€™t have to wait long.
then we went up to the escalator. and genki wasnā€™t crowded at all either so that was great!!! we did the safe entry thing, got our temperature taken and got our seats. then we ordered some food hehe. i was excited cus lol i love genki. not as much as i love my bf but if i have to choose an express sushi shop i would choose genki šŸ˜‚ i wanted something soupy and filling so i got their beef udon since i alr had their duck udon the previous time we went there. and then i got a drink and chawanmushi as an appetizer. i love their chawanmushi as well and itā€™s something i will always get. i used to buy their clams miso soup but since it was taken out of the menu, i got their chawanmushi instead. and i was so happy when han decided to try the chawanmushi!!!!! iā€™ve always knew him as someone that wasnā€™t into eggs but he actually liked this one!! and he even ate the prawn and the naruto/japanese fish cake when i fed it to him omg šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜ i was legit so happy wtf hahahaha and then his fried squid came, also one of the hot foods i will always order but usually iā€™ll get it if i didnā€™t buy any of the udon. but since i alr got the udon i didnā€™t order it. and then his mini chicken teriyaki don came and lol the bowl was rly so mini ahahaha i wish i took a picture of it but i didnā€™t. but it was worth for the price of $4 i think since it was actually filled to the brim. there was even slices of tamago in it. he fed me a spoonful and it was nice!!! iā€™m gonna try that next time i go to genki if iā€™m feeling like eating rice šŸ˜‚ i like udon cus of the chewy texture of the noodles and the soup. and then a plate of mentaiko fries came ļæ½ļæ½ there was A LOT of mentaiko on it it was so amazing and i was so surprise cus i didnā€™t order it but at the end of the day han said that he saw that i didnā€™t order the fries so he ordered it for me šŸ„ŗšŸ˜ so sweet hais and i really enjoyed it. i love genkiā€™s mentaiko sauce itā€™s so damn goooooodddddd. so salty so nice. and then my udon came hehe and i devoured it. i fed han some too and gave him one of the fish cakes cus i think they made a mistake and put two pieces. the udon was so good i love it hahahaha. and then han ordered a seaweed roll, 2 more beef sushi and 1 mentaiko salmon for me hehe yes i know how to eat salmon now!!!! but it must be seared. i still canā€™t eat raw ones unless i rly dipped it in soy sauce or if itā€™s cut super thinly then maybe can try šŸ˜…
then after we finished eating, we went up to see if we can catch a movie. i wasnā€™t sure if weā€™re allowed to sit together so i asked him to ask first if we have to be separated and yay we donā€™t have to separate!!! so we decided to watch train to busan 2: peninsula. since we alr watched the first one together and there wasnā€™t much movies that were showing so we decided to catch the 5:10pm slot. itā€™s been so so so long since we last watched a movie tgt so this was nice. we didnā€™t get anything to eat since we just ate and i was still full but we had some time so we went to fairprice and got some candies. then farhan bought a root beer slushy which turns out to be scam!!! cus itā€™s just ice and it was practically solidified even after the movie was over it didnā€™t even melt much within 2 hours wtf. and then he also got a hotdog bun šŸ˜‚
the movie was great. not as great as the first one cus the first one was definitely much more impactful but this one was not too bad. a bit too much ā€œracingā€ scenes but i guess itā€™s to keep its audience on the toes. the storyline is a bit meh as well but i guess the suspense from some parts made up for it. itā€™s quite tragic though.
and then after the movie, i asked han if he still wanted pizza but when we saw the queue there was still a bunch of people waiting for their orders. even some foodpanda and grab delivery riders were waiting so i told him weā€™ll just order in and at first he was like weā€™ll see how but i ordered anyway. then we went out to head home and han finally lighted a cigarette. hahahaha he actually had to suppressed his desire to smoke cus we didnā€™t have time since i chose the earlier slot for the movie and im so proud of him for being able to suppress the feeling and yet not turning into a cranky momok.
while on the way back, he wanted to top up some petrol so we stopped by spc and then he wanted to top up his cashcard so we had to go one big round from the carpark to where he can top up his card but the machine is stupid!!! and he got upset cus he wasnā€™t able to top up his card. i think he still prefers the card with chip reader than the contactless ones. so then we decided to head to 7-11 so he can purchase one with chip but they ran out. so we decided to find another petrol station cus he said usually itā€™s being sold there too. so we did and this time round i guess i was being cranky cus the seat of his bike was eating into my skin and it hurts like heck so i told him to just top up the card since they donā€™t have the chip ones and he needed to top up anyway but then in front there was another petrol station and apparently they had a chip + contactless card there and i think they only accepted cash for it so he came out and then went in back and bought one there. and i was still cranky lol and i was perspiring so much both from my scalp to my body and it was drizzling too so all i wanted to do was head home so i got upset and i lashed it out on him when we made our way back cus he kept trying to make a joke out of the pain i felt and it just triggered me cus itā€™s like he doesnā€™t understand how much it hurts??
but itā€™s not his fault. cus iā€™m the one that chose to wear shorts even tho i know how much it hurts when i sit too long on the bike. and then he said heā€™ll cut the netting off but i was like no wtf. cus 1, we donā€™t meet everyday which sucks but ya we donā€™t and thus iā€™m not the one sitting on the back of his bike everyday so having to sit one day out of the week doesnā€™t bother me as much as having to sit on it everyday ya know what i mean? and 2, the parts that are still protected which is probably about 90-80% of the seat is still useable so itā€™ll be able to help protect the other areas from getting damage by the claws of cats.
and then when we got back, he wanted to pass his gummies to me but no one in this household eats gummies or candies. my mom canā€™t even eat sugary content cus of health, my dad isnā€™t a fan of gummies or candies he much prefers chips and chocolates and my brother too prefers chocolates or ice creams. i donā€™t like sugary content either but unless it comes from cakes or pastries or ice creams or chocolates so rly, no one is gonna eat it. and then he got mad at me and all i could hear was ā€œyou do to me can but when iā€™m doing it to you cannotā€ and i didnā€™t get what he meant by that tbh so i just kept quiet all the way till weā€™re home. i quickly took off my hoodie, changed into a more comfortable shorts went to take a piss and then went into my room. i sat down for awhile in front of the fan cus i was sweating so much and then i cooled down before i apologized to him and then asked him if he was still upset. i tried to get him to explain what he meant but couldnā€™t get anything out of him cus he just prefers to sweep it under the rug whereas i like to talk about it so i can see what i did wrong or which areas i have to improve or change so it can better our lives ya know but heā€™s not like that and i have to understand it so i just kept quiet and then i kissed him and stroked his face and hair a little.
and then he asked me if the pizza was here and i said ya hahaha itā€™s alr in the kitchen and whether he wants me to take it so he was like yes and as i was going to take the pizza he grabbed me and hugged me tight and i just instantly melted. it was genuinely hot lol i like this kinda shit hahahahaha but iā€™ve always felt afraid that i was gonna hurt him with my weight so i didnā€™t dare do anything that will shift my whole weight onto him but he didnā€™t care and he said it doesnā€™t hurt šŸ„ŗ haissss
honestly going home was all i was looking forward to. itā€™s not bc iā€™m horny lol or maybe thatā€™s one of the reason but itā€™s mainly bc i just want to lay in his arms and just cuddle and give him kisses and also receive kisses. iā€™ve missed him all week long and we havenā€™t really been able to talk much since heā€™s working and heā€™s always tired when he gets home but itā€™s good that heā€™s working hard for his future and for our future.
and then the time for him to head home came. a truly saddening end of the day and he left a little later than usual but iā€™m just glad he got home safely and didnā€™t get lectured for being home a little late.

(WARNING : YOU WILL BE READING THE WORD ā€œBIODEGRADEā€ SO MUCH, EVEN I AM JUST NAUSEOUS TYPING IT. JUST READ ON, THANK YOU)
I guess we are due for a check-in since it is now half the year in. Earlier in January, I have stated (in IG stories) a few year-goals Iā€™d like to achieve.
23rd JANUARY 2019
I cannot say that I have been true to what Iā€™d like to accomplish. However, I do believe that I have done the very best and to me, this is very important. I say this because besides putting unrealistic goals for ourselves, we are too hard on ourselves when we donā€™t achieve it. Resulting in just throwing out the goal out the window. Worst, way too early in the year.
So here, is my half year check in.
My first waste-less swap was : BABY DIAPERS
You would think, how?? Cloth diapers, people. Cloth diapers. As you know, most named brand diapers are NOT biodegradable. As google said it, 500 years to biodegrade in its restricted conditions. Yea so we will never ever get to see any of our generationsā€™ worth of babiesā€™ diapers fully biodegrade. Basically, an average baby uses 10 diapers a day, I know it gets lesser as they get older. Just calculate it. How disgusting the numbers are going to be (cough*7000*cough). So I took a step to change that. Yes, ā€œa stepā€, not ā€œa leapā€. We made our transition from normal diapers to cloth diapers with our son and that was the best decision ever. Not only was it cost efficient, I felt so darn good after a few months into it. Another blog post as to how we are fairing with it. All I can say is, right now, we are alternating cloth diapers with disposable diapers that are ECO-FRIENDLY.
Thatā€™s right friends. So if you feel like you cannot commit to cloth diapers fully, do not ever feel guilty to still continue using disposable diapers. Alternating by using cloth diapers sometimes and disposables sometimes will in fact, still reduce waste. Even 2 cloth diapers a day, still reduced 2 disposables out of the equation. Here is another good news, as times are changing, there are indeed a higher demand and availability of disposable diapers that are more gentle to the earth.
Although those greener diapers are still only 25-75% of it able to biodegrade, a little guide to a better choice to choosing your diaper, to name a few would be;
-Chlorine-free
-Fragrance/Perfume free
-Dye-free
-Latex-free
-made out of sustainable materials
I admit, you will be spending more, but trust me, 7000 diapers per baby that are not decomposing well on earth? ugh! So all in all, tough transition but DOABLE and ACHIEVABLE. Better yet, be fully accustomed to cloth diapers! If you wanna know what was my motivation besides the eco factor? THE CUTE PRINTS! Here are some that I own
My second waste-less swap is : PLASTIC BAGS
All my friends would know it is one of my most outstanding habits that I will have shopping bag on me at all times. I sometimes even carry 2 just in case my friends donā€™t have one while we are out shopping. And yes, I will give a stare down (at my own friends) when they accept a plastic bag when they have a handbag large enough to contain the purchase or they already have another shopping bag that can hold the new purchase. SERIOUSLY, you know who you are. I think I started this way back in 2007 when Fairprice will discount 10cents off your bill if you brought your own bag. It just stuck to me since then! I take pride with my LOQI bags. I will ask for it back like its money. Lose it and I might unfriend you. Donā€™t try me. I had to give up a few bags and I remember them even it was $2 bags. My husband knows that I will always ask him if he has a shopping bag before he leaves for work. He too, has a few of his own and Iā€™m so proud of him.
So just refuse plastic bags and use your own bags! I donā€™t care if they have packed it, I will remove it and return to the cashier. I have had a salesperson told me, ā€œits okay! its just a bag, take itā€. My face just blanked out on her. After she realized Iā€™m really not joking about not wanting the bag, she nonchalantly said to me, ā€œoh you want to save the earth is it?? okay..ā€. Guess who is not patronizing her little shop anymore? Yes one little bag COUNTS. ok guys? if you walk pass me, yes prod your reusable shopping bag into my face and I would go YEAAAAHHH!!!!! (just kidding, please donā€™t attack me like that)
My third waste-less swap : PAPER PRODUCTS
I would like to add that I am in transitioning to be waste-less in a few other areas. Including feminine products, (some options you can try are menstrual cups, reusable menstrual pads and eco-friendly pads. Something I do not have good knowledge of yet due to low frequency in period)
facial cotton pads, (These are all homemade by us at ONEshoulder. You may purchase them in 6s at www.oneshoulder.store)
bath products, (try opting for bar soaps. Since we own a bath product company, I havenā€™t purchased shampoos and bath soaps in about 2 years now. If we are not using our own products, why do we sell them right? duh)
side note : ONEshoulder.sg is working towards a no-plastic movement soon. We are phasing out all plastic and its one of the toughest decisions we made. Mainly due to how well it ships and quality. We are in the works for a very long and what you shop now are no longer new plastics we bought. Instead, they are all re-used from what we receive from our supplier or already have. eg: bubble wrap, plastic mailing bags, plastic bottles. We also try to recycle used paper to have our notes and messages for customers printed at the back. I hope all our customers are patient with our change and appreciate this step we are making in order to have a more greener Earth!
and like I said, basically everything in general. I made myself washable kitchen towels too,Ā swapped my normal tissues to bamboo tissues from Cloversoft(for guests) and when Iā€™m out, my tissue choice is a cotton handkerchief. Wow so old school right? Something that I have a habit of for more than a few years now. Yes, besides the grocery shopping bags.
Ā  Ā  My guilty plastic-use that I hope to improve include:
BUBBLE TEAā€“ guilty guilty guilty. Plus the straws, although I do have a thick stainless steel straw, it tastes funny. Am I the only one who feels this way?
BOTTLED MINERAL WATER ā€“ Although most times I have my own water bottle, I just couldnā€™t find a water dispenser when I need water immediately. Or sometimes meals comes with drinks and they do not have a non-plastic option. When I shop now, I try to buy glass bottled drinks or tin cans.
So that concludes what I wish to let you know. A check-in with our progress. If you have any suggestions on other clever hacks I should try, do sound off at the comment box! I really wish to hear from you guys. Will you try something new to help reduce plastic waste? Let me know!!
Ā  Love,
Mama M.
CHECK-IN. What change did we make? (WARNING : YOU WILL BE READING THE WORD "BIODEGRADE" SO MUCH, EVEN I AM JUST NAUSEOUS TYPING IT.

Assignment 2 Commentary
Initially for the plot, the main character wanted to order food on Grab after watching a mukbang on Youtube but thought it was too expensive for just one bowl of pasta. So afterwards she went to Fairprice to shop for ingredients to make it herself. Since there are a limited number of frames, I tried to simplify the plot and only take photos that push the storyline forward. Thinking of the best angles to capture the photos was hard at first, but I put myself from a 3rd person's perspective and tried to make the plot simple to understand.
Self-reflection and comments during critique:
1)My classmates could not tell that I was shocked in the 5th frame without me revealing the storyline because my facial expressions didn't quite express how shocked I was to see the expensive price on Grab. I needed to be more exaggerating/dramatic, in order to convey my emotions to the viewers.
2)The mukbang video can be zoomed in even more to show what the person was eating, and provide some clarification to the viewers on what I was craving.
2)My 3rd and 4th photos were text-based since it showed me ordering on the app and the subsequent delivery fees. As the purpose of this assignment is to communicate ideas through visual storytelling, I couldn't use those photos because they helped inform my storyline.
4)The 8th and 9th photos were similar to each other, and it could do with removing one of them and instead I could add a photo of me cooking the pasta.
Before critique:
For the 1st photo, I used a mid shot to introduce the main character who is watching something on her Ipad. Then, I zoomed in on the close up of the screen to show people what Iā€™m watching to add more context to the plot. The next 2 photos are close ups of me ordering on Grab but since they inform the storyline and people can read the text to know that itā€™s expensive, I omitted it in my final work. The 5th photo is a reaction shot of me being shocked and I took it from the side which was not the best idea since it didnā€™t really capture my facial expressions. For the next frame I wanted to make it look like I was approaching Fairprice so I used a long shot which showed Fairprice and the surrounding settings including the people there. The 7th shot is taken from a high/top down angle showing my hands holding a basket with ingredients for pasta. But taking into account from the critique that there should be as little text as possible, I didnā€™t use it in my final work because people can see that I got cheese and spaghetti. The last 2 shots were close ups of the pasta but I decided one would be enough to show that I succeeded in making my cravings.
Tumblr media
After critique: I omitted me ordering on Grab and thinking it was too expensive and made a few changes to the storyline, which is me deciding to go to the store to buy ingredients for pasta after watching a mukbang video. I reduced the frames from 9 to 8 as the storyline has become simpler so there was no need to add unnecessary photos, and arranged the frames so it seemed less cluttered. The 2nd photo zoom in into the full screen of the mukbang with no text and clearly shows what the person is eating. The next one is a close up of my face taken from the front at a slightly lower angle (since Iā€™m looking down at the screen). It shows me with my eyebrows raised, highlighting that Iā€™m enticed by the mukbang. The 4th frame is me taking my keys which indicates that Iā€™m headed somewhere which is Fairprice as shown in the next photo. I also omitted the number of text-based images as best as possible to make my storytelling more visual. So for example, I took a mid shot of the pasta sauce cans to show that Iā€™m at the pasta section (I donā€™t think it could be helped that thereā€™s a few words but I think the colours of the cans gave away that they were for pasta and added more depth to my story). The next shot is me cooking the spaghetti to move the plot along and the last one is from the previous work which shows the final product.

20 Aug 22 - T'was a Good Day
I went to the Well-being Circle session today. I think it was fun. This time round, I initiated the sharing of my personal stories. It felt good to just share and not be afraid of wondering what people think. I'm quite amazed by how the well-being leader could identify key points of what the person shared, and shared his pov of the sharing, while being aligned with the focus on personal well-being. There was this example, when a lady shared that, because of what her mum told her, that her improved grades were not good enough, there is always this paper chase, and that is why she's participating in the well-being circle, to gain more knowledge that would aid in her role as a student counseller. The well-being leader shared that there is no defining point that is good and bad, but he hopes that she refocuses the intention on her well-being. He did it more, artfully, but the meaning in his words are something along this lines. I wonder if I could ever become a facilitator, overcoming my fear of being judged/rejected in groups, listening actively, and reflecting back points that are aligned to the session objectives, or re-focusing points if necessary. It's, challenging, but I hope I can do that one day. To help people become the best version of themselves.
Before meeting SB, I went to have sushi, for lunch, and walked the supermarkets, Don Don Donki, NTUC Fairprice, going at my own pace. The only damage was Sukiyaki sauce, which I stored in my handbag. Times have changed indeed. You know you have reached the aunty level when there's sauce found in your handbag...

Queenā€™s Arc Site
The surrounds of the BTO site were bustling during our site visit. Traffic was heavy along Queensway in the afternoon and will likely become busier with the expansion of Alexandra Hospital on the adjacent site beside Queenā€™s Arc. The redevelopment for the hospital is scheduled for completion in 2030.
Alexandra Hospitalā€™s expansion. The site will sit adjacent to Queenā€™s Arc BTO.

While the BTO isnā€™t located next to an MRT stationā€”Queenstown MRT on the East-West line is situated more than a 10-min walk awayā€”there are a lot of buses (around 11!) that service the bus stops along Queensway in front of the BTO. These can take you to the CBD and most major neighbourhoods in Singapore.
There are no big shopping malls nearby, but you do get IKEA Alexandra within a short walking distance away. In terms of food options, you have the option of hawker fare at popular hawker centres Alexandra Village and ABC Brickworks as well as fast food eateries and restaurants located at Alexandra Central and Anchorpoint Shopping Centre. The Queenā€™s Arc site itself will also see a coffee shop.
For supermarkets, the nearest ones are at NTUC Fairprice along Stirling Road and the Cold Storage within Anchorpoint Shopping Centre. Within the BTO site, there will be a minimart as well.
Which unit should you pick for Queenā€™s Arc?
3-room flats
Most of the stacks here are 4-room units. If you are thinking of getting a 3-room flat, you only have stacks 129 and 131 to choose from. There isnā€™t a huge difference in these two stacks.
Both stacks are likely to get some afternoon sun, coming in from the northwest direction from March to September. The consolation is that because they are north-south facing, you are likely to experience some decent breeze.
The 3-room stacks are also facing the drop-off point, so you will want to avoid units on the lower floors if you donā€™t want to be disturbed by drop-off activities e.g. loading and unloading of goods, passenger pick-ups, etc.
The stacks are located relatively near the lifts. Consider investing in privacy screens near your front entrance to maintain more privacy in your apartment.
4-room flats
Afternoon sun: For 4-room stacks, stacks 105, 107, 133 and 135 are the ones to consider if you want to get less of the afternoon sun. Both these stacks will get some afternoon sun coming from the southwest direction from September to March, but the heat will be slightly alleviated as they are partially blocked by the stack before them.
Sun direction in April
Sun direction in October
Privacy: If you donā€™t want neighbours looking in through your front door when they walk by, look to stacks 107, 113, 127 and 133. However, depending on the design of the BTO, they might be able to see through your service yard as they walk along the common corridors. Check HDBā€™s 3D model for Queenā€™s Arc for more information.
Traffic noise: Traffic noise is likely going to a problem for stacks 101, 103, 117 and 119, which are facing a road junction and arterial road Queensway.
Queensway is a busy arterial road
Car park: Donā€™t want to be subjected to fumes and the revving of engines? Avoid stacks near the car park if you are picking a unit on the lower floors (the car park has 6 storeys). Stacks 135 and 137 have their service yards looking into the car park, while stacks 105, 107, 109 and 111 have the main areas of the home looking into the car park.
Human activity zones: Because of the higher concentration of human activity in zones like the pavilions, playgrounds and fitness corners, you are likely going to get some noise disturbance if your stack is facing them. These are the stacks most likely affected: 109, 111, 121, 123, 133, 135, 137 and 139.

whatā€™s your name/alias?
honey, like the stuff bees make
whatā€™s your timezone?
gmt +8, so uh, be prepared to see me active on the dash at odd hours
which character are you applying with?
mateo Ć”lvarez / matthew beckett (he has two names bc heā€™s cOOL, jk no thatā€™s not true itā€™s actually just sad) aka the froy gutierrez fc
how did you stumble upon Heartland?
i sent ricci some kermit stickers on telegram and she was like hey u wanna join this cool rp and i was like heck yeah and here i am
whatā€™s your favourite zombie apocalypse movie/show/book/etc?
shaun of the dead, izombie, and thatā€™s about it. zombie apocalypse is not a genre i usually delve into but iā€™m branching out okay !!
how well would you do in a zombie apocalypse?
in real life ? could go either way tbh, i mean iā€™m resourceful and i used to be a part of the red cross so iā€™m first aid trained, which is a plus. but iā€™m also very,,, petite,,, so even though iā€™m strong for my size, iā€™d probably be overpowered pretty easily in a physical fight. if i were a character in a show/movie/book about the zombie apocalypse, thoughā€“ā€“ well, iā€™m a bisexual woman of colour so i suppose my odds of survival arenā€™t great r i p
what would be your preferred weapon?
if my aim werenā€™t so shit iā€™d love to have a long range weapon like a crossbow or something, but realistically i think iā€™d be able to do the most damage with a blunt object like a baseball bat or smth
if you lived in the Heartland universe, which camp would you pick to live in?
the library bc i feel like thatā€™s where most of the nerds will be and kindred spirits aside, iā€™m fairly confident in my ability to take down a nerd in a fight
which position would you pick?
i know i mentioned being first aid trained earlier so youā€™d think my answer would be medic, but i wasnā€™t being entirely honest, iā€™m sORRY. despite theoretically knowing how to treat wounds and stuff, i uh,, am pretty squeamish about blood and gore so no thank you ?? iā€™d probably be a provisioner just bc iā€™d be useless at everything else, maybe a trader
whatā€™s your local grocery store chain called? (this is purely for the adminā€™s benefit bc iā€™m weirdly obsessed with grocery stores lmao)
well, there are more than a few in the entire city, but the ones closest to me are fairprice, fairprice finest, and cold storage. thereā€™s also a giantĀ within driving distance.

Altogether Somewhere: On Growing Roots Amidst Shifting Sands and Moving Landscapes
A response to Charles Limā€™s SEA STATE
I come from Singapore, a country plagued with ā€œa history of amnesia,ā€ in the words of poet Alfian Saā€™at. One of our national day songs written by Dick Lee titled ā€œHomeā€ contains the line: ā€œI will always recall the city, know every street and shore.ā€ It is odd to sing this knowing that ā€œevery street and shoreā€ is constantly shiftingā€”the sounds of construction are pervasive, highways are ever-widening and the sea is constantly being reclaimed.
An oft-told narrative is one of Singaporeā€™s growth from a third-world fishing village to a first-world smart nation within the span of 50 years. A lesser-known story is one of how our total land area has grown from 578 square kilometres in 1819 to 719 square kilometres today. The fact that 25% of our countryā€™s land mass is reclaimed may have astounded German, French and Italian visitors to Charles Limā€™s SEA STATE pavilion at the Venice Biennale. But they may be less of a surprise to our neighbours in Cambodia, Indonesia and Vietnam, whose sands we draw upon in dredges. Where there were fishing villages on stilts on the sea, now stand ports, airports, luxury hotels and casinos, built with sand imported both legally and illegally through smuggling and deals with corrupt officials. Riverbanks collapse, estuaries erode, mangrove wildlife and coastal livelihoods are lost. Yet, the drawing and redrawing of our coastline and skyline continually defer their political and ethical implications on both regional and national levels.
I only became more conscious of these realities when I encountered and engaged with the various phases of SEA STATE through sitting with the work, listening to its lulling siren-like voice, digesting the catalogue and attempting to grasp the rich curatorial and artistic research underpinning the decade-long project over the course of breakfast and dinner conversations with Charles and curator Shabbir Hussein Mustafa. Growing up in Singapore, I was always surrounded by rapid modernisation, the loss of significant cultural and heritage sites, and the strange resurrection of demolished buildings like the National Theatre and old National Library in the form of giant floats paraded at the annual Chingay parade, prolonging a nostalgia that no longer exists in present memory. I find it jarring to imagine a similar fate for architectural landmarks such as Golden Mile Complex and Towerā€”spaces that are significant and familiar to me, where Iā€™ve built connections and friendships over Thai food and open-air rooftops.
Architect Tan Cheng Siong behind the iconic horseshoe-shaped Pearl Bank apartments recalled what it was like during the early days of Singaporeā€™s post-independence urbanisation: ā€œIt was an interesting challenge for young people like us. I can remember thinking ā€˜very good, we are a free people now.ā€™ But at the start, we were so badly informed and had nothing to hang on to. The neighbours, the community, the streets and the shops all these things were lost in some of the early apartments, but young people like me were rushing to fulfil our ambitions. Our parents were the ones that felt lonely every now and then.ā€ The curved corridors of Pearl Bank were designed as an antidote to this growing loneliness and social dislocation, with kitchens facing inwards to encourage people to invite neighbours in for chicken curry. The physical structures in Singapore barely stay long enough. Pearl Bank is slated to be demolished in 2019. Memories attached to old buildings often exist only as projections of the mind or are glimpsed as superimpositions on current, newer replacements. In Between Stations, writer Boey Kim Cheng laments the loss of old spaces in Singaporeā€™s Central Business District: ā€œBut in my mind, both the Arcade and Change Alley form a continuum of light and shade, an interim one that is neither outside nor inside, blurring interior and exterior, time and space, past and present.ā€
In one edition of OH! Open House, I was standing amongst a group in the garden of somebodyā€™s house in Potong Pasir when ceramic artist Michelle Lim reflected as she shaped mud: ā€œNowhere is sacred, nowhere is permanent. Nowhere where you can build your stories over and over again.ā€ OH! tells alternative stories of Singapore through art by working with artists to create site-specific works in unconventional locations such as strangersā€™ homes and under-utilised public spaces. I lived in Potong Pasir when it was under the stronghold of the opposition party.Ā Residents of ground-floor HDB flats took great care in nurturing small gardensā€”trellises, patios, benches and swings spilled over onto public land.Ā In the years that followed the change in hands during the 2011 General Elections, Potong Pasirā€™s landscape was no longer stuck in the 1980s and quickly evolved. Sidewalks were built, barricades erected, covered walkways constructed, bridges repainted, roads tarred, street lamps installed and lifts upgraded. For the first time, an NTUC FairPrice supermarket sprouted and POSB bank opened a branch.Ā In describing her former hometown, Lim commented, ā€œItā€™s changed so much that I wouldnā€™t even know if Iā€™ve arrived.ā€
My father grew up in this neighbourhood and often went jogging through the quiet, hilly terrain of tombstones in Bidadari. He knew the dimly-lit streets well enough to walk home with his eyes closed. When my great grandmother passed away at the age of 93, we moved into her house. Like my father, I grew to develop my own memories of this neighbourhood. I learnt that several notable persons from Christian, Muslim, Hindu and Sinhalese communities were interred at Bidadari cemetery. The graves have since been exhumed, slopes flattened, trees uprooted, making way for Housing Development Board (HDB) flats in what is touted as ā€œthe new Bishan,ā€ a bustling district which also occupies a plot of land built on a former cemetery. Bidadari, or ā€œangel of paradiseā€ in Malay, is derived from the Sanskrit word ā€œwidyadari,ā€ an angelic being in Hindu mythology. It used to house kampong villages, the Japanese-style garden and lake Alkaff Gardens, and the istana or palace of Zubaidah binti Abdullah (nĆ©e Cecilia Catharina Lange), the Danish second wife of Sultan Abu Bakar of Johor. Later in the OH! tour, as we were traversing through the former Bidadari cemetery at sunset, I smiled to myself when our guide warned us: ā€œBe careful there are a lot of roots.ā€
How do we begin to unpeel the layers of our histories and uncover the rhizomic roots? Not too long ago Singapore separated from Malaysia, but between the tears and pregnant pauses, it remains to this day an issue that is still not fully talked about. To quote Josephine Chia, author of Kampong Spirit Gotong Royang: Life in Potong Pasir from 1955 to 1965, ā€œThe separation from Malaya was traumatic and no one really talks about this. But we had uncles and aunties and cousins who lived across the highway... Iā€™m Peranakan so I had relatives in Penang and Melaka. And suddenly, you couldnā€™t be friends anymore.ā€ This history is further complicated by the fact that most immigrants are divorced from Java, Sarawak, Yemen, Fujian, Guangdong, Hainan, Tamil Nadu, Sri Lanka, Punjab and other places where their ancestors came from.
Separations and traumas on a national scale often have large repercussions on the individual. In talking to a friend from Bayreuth, he described how even today, his parents only go on family holidays in West Germany and avoid the East at all costs. Even though it has been 30 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall, the invisible wall lingers on in their minds. Differences in powers, ideologies, religions and races have resulted in crimes against humanity and acts of violence inflicted upon oppressed communities. Although Germany has recognised its role in the Holocaust, it is still coming to terms with the genocide in Namibia. Turkey continually refuses to recognise the Armenian genocide. Malaysia has only just begun a public inquiry into the mass graves of Rohingyas. While underlying traumas exist, they are often buried deep within our national consciousnesses. Yet, we feel their reverberations every day. We are at once connected yet isolated from our past, present and each other.
We all have an innate need for security and belonging. French philosopher Simone Weil once wrote that ā€œto be rooted is perhaps the most important and least recognised need of the human soul.ā€ The idea of home may be associated with a permanent residence. However, the reality is landscapes, cultures, lifestyles, populations, borders and national identities sometimes changeĀ faster than we can acclimatise. Political systems can disappear overnight. The only method to counteract against collective feelings of uprooting is our individual attempts at rooting, even if they are temporal. I recall our first 12 days in Venice, working almost non-stop from the moment we wake to the moment we sleep. In my journal, I wroteĀ ā€œSEA STATE submerges us in this endless underwater continuum that lingers even as we lie flat in bed. We call it the vaporetto effect, the feeling that you're bobbing on a platform floating on the sea, waiting for a boat to come.ā€ For awhile, that felt like home, truly.

STORYBOARD: Assignment 2 Commentary
The assignment brief was just to form a short storyboard with 6 to 9 pictures without any given theme or direction. I am really enjoying this liberty of taking these assignments into my own hands, and brainstorming ideas that I really believe in.
My thought process took many days of thinking, garnering inspiration from meme pages, and lots of google image searches. For hours, I simply could not come up with a legitimate storyboard that I felt added value to my work. However, I began to realize that I could simply find inspiration from my bad eating habits, which is why I decidedly chose a scene of midnight hunger pangs.
After talking to my boyfriend about my idea, he helped me take some rough pictures with his iPhone so that I could process the different angles that were necessary in my storyboard. After a few tries and walking discussions around my house to frame certain scenes, we managed to nail down the storyline and perspectives required of me.
I switched to my DSLR because I wanted a better depth of field in my pictures. Also, my house has a lot of weird overhead warm lighting which I wanted to resolve with my camera's flash.
It took many tries for the pictures to be right. It was a bit difficult trying to pose for the camera and direct my boyfriend. But i felt that the back and forth was definitely worth it, because I understood my vision the best, so my expressions and body language were entirely up to me to emulate!
Tumblr media
Once the pictures were all good and taken, I made slight edits to the overall look of the pictures so they would look more cohesive. I did amp up the saturation and luminance of the reds in my pictures because I wanted the overall feel of my storyboard to represent something fiery and red hot! I then organized the edited pictures into a horizontal A4 page on Photoshop. I added some 3x3 guides so that my photos would be placed in a straight and consistent manner for ease of examining.
Tumblr media
After a while of staring at my whole storyboard, I decided to switch scenes 6 and 7 around because I realised that the flow may be confusing if I hadn't interchanged their positions. When it comes to cutting the chilli and cooking my noodles, I wanted the process to be easily understood & also relatable to most, and I found this change to be more status quo in people's noodle-cooking-process!
Aaron kindly mentioned that my use of different perspective and framing was done well, which made me extremely happy! He also said that my message was clear, and enjoyed my employment of labelling so that audiences would have more context to my work. For example, the FairPrice fresh milk that can be clearly identified in my last scene, which indicates me soothing the spice in my mouth.
One improvement I made to my work was to add a title to my storyboard. I learned from the critique session that all my classmates had given their work a title so that the audience could sort of prepare themselves for what they were about to look at. Hence, I added "a risk was calculated" because i thought it was quite tongue-in-cheek but also can be seen as a little abstract.
At first, I was a little apprehensive about my storyboard because I felt that my last scene could be viewed as too abrupt or left open-ended. I am glad that Aaron did not feel that way and said that the closure was sufficient. I initially wondered if the last scene should end with me in pain on the toilet seat, but I think the fresh milk was more than enough to end my storyboard on a good note!
Tumblr media
There were a few photos that did not make the cut because of several framing, composition and lighting errors. For example, I felt that the picture for scene 9 above ^ was quite expressive because of the milk dripping down my chin, but I also reckon that it might give off very inappropriate connotations, so I decided against it. But the idea for these pictures stayed the same, just with a few more attempts at perfecting the shot. I was glad that I had many options to play around with to create what was best for my story to come to life!
The initial storyboard that I drew out was about Tinder and catfishing, but I soon realised that it was a little tough to show essential elements (like online conversation) through mere photos with no superimposition/editing. It was a fun idea to storyboard, but I am definitely glad that I went with my mukbang idea in the end, because it has proven to be a lot more simple and also effective!

thereā€™s a cool story behind this????
kunderaā€™s unbearable lightness is one of my favourite books of all time. i first read it back in 2016, but never owned a copy of it until...
11 july 2019: dad and i were out shopping for groceries and there was a secondhand book sale going on in the atrium of the mall
i wanted to give it a miss because i hate how i spend hours browsing books, but dad, knowing how much i love books, told me to check it out
so i did and
i) found this gem for just $7 and
ii) when i bought the book and started reading it, i found an airplane ticket and a note sandwiched between its pages
the ticket was to pudong international airport, i think
the note contained tips and reminders to lose weight ā€” this person listed 55kg as their goal weight. interestingly, my target weight is also 55kg
AND on the other side of the note, someone had scribbled ā€˜hello vanessaā€™, which creeped me out because HOW DID YOU KNOW? WHAT ARE THE CHANCES? but it also made me feel like this book was meant for me
i took a quick picture of this ā€˜coincidenceā€™ while we were still at fairprice haha
