Meta another shock..Employees fired
Tumblr media
It seems that Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, has taken a shocking decision for the employees. It is known that some more employees are going to be fired. It has indicated that these layoffs will be in the non-engineering category. Last November, Meta laid off 11,000 employees (13 percent of its total workforce). Now the stage is set to lay off more people. Even the latest layoffs are cited as reasons such as economic uncertainty and reduced income.

I got this screenshot from an MSN article.
Market Caps of 4 airlines? $19 B loss? That is an unbelievable amount of money. All for really bad graphics, that they had to fake the legs on just a couple of months ago???
Someone is going to buy the husk of facebook/meta after all of this. I keep thinking about deleting my account there, but never get around to it. I might have to actually do that in the very near future.
Maybe they can get a 2 for one price discount for twitter and facebook after this.
I hope all the engineers and other staff who got let go all land in great places.

This is disgusting. I feel for all of those laid off workers. I have seen this happen to folks in my own life. Companies should invest in their business, provide better services for their customers, reduce costs, and share their profits with their employees--the people behind the profits. They should not give buybacks to their shareholders and then have the audacity to lay off workers on top of it.

Ngl, when you see people doing a “Day in a life as a software developer at Google” they don’t really do anything?
Go on TikTok and see. Go on YouTube and see. I don’t see they code or even do work?? This is what most of them do:
Wake up
Get dressed
Goes to work
Gets coffee and food at cafeteria
Walk around in the office
Go on a playroom/study room with friends and have laptops out
Have a 10 min meeting
Have lunch for 1-2 hours
Do 1 minute of code
Walk around the office again
Posts on TikTok
Life would be if you can do all that and get paid a large amount of money annually but the tech companies are looking at you like “yeahhhhh you’re getting fired” and the influencers are shock like :o what
Don’t get me wrong, not everyone who was laid off were influencers and I’m sorry for those who did get fired. Im targeting the people who made working at those large tech companies their brand and did more influencing than doing actual work 😭
Then again, in all honestly, they fired way too many people?? Where it has become a real concerning issue. That just means just work at a smaller company :)
I hope the people who got laid off find jobs soon ❤️❤️

Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, has announced plans to lay off around 10,000 employees, which represents approximately 13% of its workforce. This move is in line with the company’s founder, Mark Zuckerberg, objective of a “year of efficiency.” The layoffs will begin with the recruitment team this week, and the tech and business groups will be restructured in April and May. Meta’s restructuring efforts include closing about 5,000 unfilled job postings, and it plans to wrap up an analysis of its hybrid return-to-office model, which began testing last March.

Layoff scare | Around 2,00,000 IT employees lose jobs, Indians scramble for job options in the US
Tumblr media
Thousands of Indian IT professionals in the US, who have lost their jobs due to the series of recent layoffs at companies like Google, Microsoft and Amazon, are now struggling to find new employment. In order to remain in the country, they are now battling to find new employment within the time frame allowed by their work visas.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced earlier this month that the tech giant would fire 10,000 employees, or approximately 5% of its entire workforce, calling it a difficult decision the tech giant had to make to remain a "consequential company" in the face of economic uncertainty throughout the world.
As the job-killing spree in the IT sector continues in 2023, Microsoft is the third company following Facebook and Amazon to announce job cuts.
The current era is one of "significant change," according to Indian-origin Customers who increased their digital spending during the Covid-19 outbreak, according to Nadella, are now optimising it to accomplish more with fewer resources.
Since November 2022, approximately 200,000 IT employees have lost their jobs, including record numbers at firms like Google, Microsoft, Facebook, and Amazon.
Some industry insiders estimate that between 30 and 40% of them are Indian IT professionals, many of whom are in possession of H-1B and L1 visas.
