Okay, with all the Y/N's we already have for Apex Polarity, I can't hurt to add one more yeah? (Haha I'm so normal about this au, definitely not spending my afternoons scrolling through your page looking for more AP asks and info haha) What about a polar bear Y/N? Something somewhere between a selkie and a harpy but of a polar bear

Oh, I'm picturing centaur-esque Y/N with the lower body of a polar bear! It would balance the scales with Eclipse as you're also an apex predator. You would have never seen an orca siren, and Eclipse would have never met anyone or anything as strange and beautiful as you.

You see the shadow in the water while you are crossing the frigid ocean to reach the other end of a gulf where food hopefully is, and then there's a siren swimming right beside you. You're not afraid—what would dare try to attack you? But you are very curious about this handsome stranger. Eclipse is fascinated with your anatomy (so many limbs and your fur is so soft and white!)

There's no threat, not even competition for food. Eclipse gladly brings you so many fish and seals and everything else you could ever eat! You try to return the favor by giving him food he might never had before, like seabirds or arctic foxes. He's pleased to exchange meals with you. Sometimes, you'll lumber along an icy shelf while Eclipse swims aside in the water.

You think it's funny that this siren insists that he sees you every day, but you enjoy the friendship. He's just so sweet and earnest. He also tends to grab you for impromptu cuddles in the water, dragging you in (because you allow it) but you chalk that up to species differences in social behaviors.

Meanwhile, Eclipse is doing everything and more to court you but you're just not getting it.

By the way! I have ONE single gripe about The Terror, and that is the fact that when you look at the Tuunbaq in the show, it genuinely feels like they... underestimated the sheer size of a polar bear, especially when they say "It's about three times the size of a polar bear."

My mom, as a child, saw a living polar bear once. In the circus. She was able to essentially stand right in front of it, and she says that they are just so frighteningly large that it's hard to even imagine unless you see one up close. The way she described it to me was, "If that polar bear stood upright in our livingroom, with our eight foot ceilings, he'd still be able to peek his head up into the second story."

The average male polar bear stands at about 9ft tall, 5ft at the shoulder, and can weigh between 700-1,000 lbs.

Here's a picture of one in the circus, and one that had been stuffed, and then the Tuunbaq as we see it in the show.

There are other scenes in which you can see the size compared to that of a human better, but they're a bit... gory. But the Tuunbaq as depicted in the show is kind of just... the size of a decently sized average polar bear, with a slightly bulkier build.

What I'm saying is that realistically... imagine the largest living land carnivore... and triple it. Put two more polar bears on the shoulders on the Tuunbaq, and THEN you can maybe imagine the sheer size. That's what I call "fuckoff huge".
