This may be a….out of your realm question but you’re one of the few tumblr users I can think of who quilts regularly so I thought you could maybe have some ideas?
For the longest time I’ve wanted to do quilts featuring pixel art. It just seems like a natural step. Pixel art is squares, quilting is (usually) squares, so I figured, there we go. However, I’ve actually had no like acquiring like, decent solid color fabrics? The ones I can find usually come in like 4 colors max. This brings me to my question. In any of your experiences acquiring fabrics, have you come across a brand or store that might carry a decent variety of colours?
Yes!! Absolutely I have answers for you! Pixel art quilts are on my to-make-eventually list too, I think they'd be so cool! The two major brands of solids I can think of are Kona Cotton (I think it's under the Robert Kaufman brand?) and Bella Solids (I think it's a Moda line). I'm sure there are other brands, but those are the two I've used (mostly Kona Cotton, I had a kit) If anyone reading this has other brands with large varieties of solid fabrics, please chime in! Pretty much any quilt shop should have at least some solids, and pretty much every quilt shop tech savvy enough to have a good online store will also be savvy enough to have a good range of solids. Personally, I default to CaliQuiltCo for online quilt shopping, but that's mostly because they are one of the only places I've found that offers minky for sale in quantities less than a yard, so idk if it's better priced/better variety than any other quilt shop online for quilting cotton

Junk Journaling: Finding ephemera to use
Since we just talked about how to make a junk journal last post, now let’s talk about what you will use to fill it up and make it pretty. Junk journaling is like going on a treasure hunt where every little piece you find can tell a story. You can use almost anything to create your journal. First off, you might want to start with the basics, like old book pages. These can be from old novels,…

Friendly reminder that if a deal seems too good to be true, it might be! Also known as someone messaged me here, asked if they could make a painting based on one of my quilts (I am absolutely fine with that!), and then offered to pay me for doing so. When I said that was kind of them, but unnecessary, they insisted and kept pushing, trying to get my email, my discord, and then eventually my banking info. They insisted their "client" would mail me a check, and that since they and I were "collaborating" on this art piece, I'd deposit the check and then mail them their part. Many things about the whole pitch were suspicious, but two stood out from the very beginning: - for using a photo of my quilt as a reference, they said they'd pay $300 - the quilt they said someone commissioned them to make a 3 foot square oil painting of was the lumberjack quilt. Now don't get me wrong, I like my lumberjack quilt, but of all the quilts I've ever made I have serious doubts that the "various shades of denim" quilt is the one someone would want a painting of (Just in case they were not trying to scam me, I did make it clear that I was absolutely fine with them using my photos for reference. I even offered to take new photos of that quilt from different angles or in different lighting if they wanted! I said I had a ko-fi if they felt they really had to pay me! But no.)

Thursday Postcard Hunt - ART: Crafts, Fabric Art, Textile
… is this week’s theme for Thursday Postcard Hunt. Postcard from Timor Leste back of card with textile info Timor-Leste, or East Timor, a Southeast Asian nation occupying half the island of Timor, is ringed by coral reefs teeming with marine life. Landmarks in the capital, Dili, speak to the country’s struggles for independence from Portugal in 1975 and then Indonesia in 2002. The iconic…

[ > you touch its nose.
it was hard, but smooth, unlike any noses or beaks you have ever had the pleasure to touch. the sensation is more like holding a small pebble in the palm of your hand. the creature pulls back, unphased at your hand but seeming (you think) at a loss as to what should happen next.
"i'm sorry. was that rude?", that comes out more insincere than you intend it to. you frown to yourself: recently, it has been difficult to say what you mean, even more so to mean what you say most of the times. this has not proven to be an issue but at this exact moment you find yourself rather tormented over the fact. you really are sorry for that brief but unsolicited touch.
no answer, of course.
a few minutes passed. the dinging of outlook signifies the end of your lunch break, bringing your eyes to the screen. as expected, no-one is dying. you keep your eyes on the email a lot longer than you expect yourself to, perhaps thinking that when you look back, "it" will no longer be there.
you are wrong. the creature remains, now holding out a small bundle of scrapped yarns.
instinctively, you feel some attention being cast on the 20p lodged at the back of your phone case. it has been there a while now, waiting for whatever kind of hypothetical rainy days that can be saved with less than a pound.
"don't you want to give me a new ball of yarn instead? i could give you this 20 note?" - why on earth do you say that, you wonder, slightly in awe of yourself, and definitely considering that hr call now.
the creature stays still; the attention on the coin lingers.
outlook emails notifications are the new heaven's horns these days.]
