charachter rant: margaery tyrell
i just don’t get her character, or rather how geroge wrote her. and in the show, obviously she is gorgeous. i have watched a lot of people react to game of thrones and some were really put off by margaery and couldn’t figure out how to feel about her and some called her even crazy. maybe because i know that that’s just the style of acting nat does but looking back, i do agree.
but in the books, it’s the same. she has no personality?!?! and i get that maybe it’s because we didn’t get a pov from her (imagine if we did, i reaaally want that, to understand truly who she is inside), but even from the others pov, we get nothing more. we always get the calculated facade if i can say.
So the plan was to use her and sway Robert to cast Cersei aside. Looking like Lyanna, they knew that Robert might be swayed for his long lost love. But Ned, who knew her sister bemusedly says that she doesn’t resemble Lyanna. Why would George make this? Does it tell something about Lyanna? How she was used perhaps as a pawn? How Margaery‘s story will unfold? The Tyrells were reeeeally playing this game and honestly don’t they have shame?
And when Robert is dead, they play their cards right with Renly and she marries him.
Yes, they clearly want to have their blood on the iron throne. I guess the roses and Highgarden and Margaery paint a beautiful picture to make the people fawn over them.
So Margaery is shy and soft spoken and good natured. But that is all false. That definitely isn’t her actual personality. She is just a doll. I can’t figure it out her as a true person. Maybe that’s the point? I just feel disappointed.
So Margaery has been passed on from Robert to Renly, from Renly to Joffrey and from Joffrey to Tommen. Again i ask? Have they no shame? The people suuuurely should have start talking about her being passed on like this. Instead they love her. And I get it. It’s because of the food which is fair enough. But Tyrion literally thinks how Tyrells closed the roads which caused the lack of food and then opened them and offered it to be seen as saviors. But of course the people of Kings Landing are swayed and at the end of the day they probably just want peace and food. FAIRENOUGH. But they also gossip a lot, and I get the disdain for the Lannisters. But this is ridiculous and it should have been a cause for some gossip.
THIS IS WHAT I MEAN!!! She is very clever. But her personality is always fake to the world. It’s like she really is acting.
She gagged Cersei!!!!!!!!!!
Performative!!!! How does she know to do this? How can she achieve to win their love so perfectly!?!? I mean she is smart but to this degree?!
Cersei don’t make it that obvious!!!!
So it‘s giving Cersei no? It’s from these on that Margaery cracks up a little. When the raven comes, and Cersei tells her that Loras was injured, she wrenches free surprisingly to Cersei and tells her that he isn’t dead yet.
When Cersei does her plot and they take Margaery, they say that they have examined her and her maidenhead is broken. Pycelle also confirms that she asked for moontea if i believe.
So she isn’t this shy soft spoken angel. It’s all an act. And i get it everyone acts in Kings Landing, and lies. But she is a character brought up since book 1, and is the Queen now. I don’t get George writing her. It’s like she is this perfect Queen. And I am like how does she do it? Everyone has flaws. Every character.
And most of all, what does she feel? Being passed around for every chance to be a Queen? What about her desires, her romance desires, her living her own life. Is she mad at her Father and her family that they are using her like this? As far as I have seen she has a good relationship with her family. Her brothers are very sweet too, how do they allow doing this to her. I ask again about shame? Don’t they have any?
I guess i am just bothered by it all. and as i said, i can’t figure out margaery as a character. how can someone have this mask on for so long. it’s miniscule the times she has slipped. what about joffrey? how did she tame him, was she scared of him or not? Renly and Tommen are easier for her. What did she feel about marrying Robert. How is she such a good manipulator, so clever? I am not complaining that she is playing the game, or that she is very smart and that she is sexually active. I just mean that she can lie perfectly and act perfectly. it’s like she is a doll. i don’t see any side and any complexity to her. it’s like george just wrote her the way he needed a character to be but there is no depth. also another interesting bit:
As shown by chapter drafts dating back to October 2003 and January 2004, Lyanna's name was originally "Jorella Mormont" and later on "Margaery Mormont" before George R. R. Martin settled for "Lyanna Mormont"
Why the Lyanna-Margaery connection? For what!! Margaery Mormont would have been very comical for a northern name. Idk george idk

Hey, looking for a long term Game of Thrones roleplay! I'm 18+ M and I'm looking 18+ F partner.I would personally prefer playing as oc x cc, specially if you can play as Lyanna Stark, Margaery Tyrell, Sansa Stark, Cersei Lannister, Catelyn Tully or Daenerys Targaryen. But any other roleplay ideas are welcome.Apart from my character I can play as many characters at the same time.
NSFW preferred!
I value honesty above all. I would hate to start a roleplay just to end it in a few hours because you didn't tell me you didn't like something. I will tell you when I would like to change things, I expect the same from you. Be totally comfortable, I don't judge at all and I'm not easily offended. I would prefer a long term/infinite roleplay, but I wouldn't mind exploring different ways. We can chat OOC to speak about our interests, expectations, limits, etc. I love world building!I offer multiple responses each day, 0 ghosting and we can do 2x2 if you would like! If you're interested, comment, preferably, or like this post so I can contact you!

Ask Game :D
@renlybaratheon-tyrell asked for 1, 26, 32, 36 on this meme. Thanks, friend!
1.First ship you remember
oh god, this is embarrassing ahahaha
First fandom was YuGiOh, my first ship was Yami/Yuugi.
It was everything my lonely 11 year old self needed! The smart kid who collects outcast friends. The sexy, confident protective spirit that lives inside of his head, witnessing his pain as no real person could, understanding him and accepting him completely. And of course Yuugi growing under Yami’s guidance to become his best self that he didn’t believe he could be.
It was such a sweet ship, what happened to me? (Oh right, adulthood xD)
26. Characters that you like in every dynamic (lovers, friends, enemies)
Ah, I’m a basic bitch when it comes to this. Tony and Loki obviously.
But digging deeper than that.... Thor & Bruce oddly enough? I dug that ship all the way back in 2012 and I still like it today. As friends they have this great double himbo energy that’s really fun, Ragnarok gave us some spicy stuff to explore on the angst/enemy side, and of course they’re adorable as lovers.
Bruce being able to relax totally knowing that the Hulk can’t hurt Thor <3 Thor being with someone patient enough to explain when he’s being a jerk <3 <3 Thor’s genuine care diffusing Bruce’s temper when things get prickly <3 <3 <3
It’s just great.
32.Favourite ship for hurt-comfort
You know, I used to be all about Loki whump, but these days I find it just makes me sad and exhausted. It’s been a real problem in my reading, I’ve been struggling to get through stories that hooked me hard with the premise.
Meditating on it, I think my heart is just weary of seeing him constantly miserable and abused after so many years. It kind of feels like I’m holding him hostage in the worst moment of his life and never allowing him to move forward. And I’m ready to see him happy.
So I’ve had to turn to other fandoms for it, and it’s been a mix.
Obi Wan is a perennial favorite for hurt comfort. I favor emotional H/C over physical so the guilt and regret with Obi Wan is delicious. The fact that he caused his own demise and enabled Anakin’s never gets old to me.
F. Schubert/F. Liszt - Serenade in D minor by ArchieHabian comes to mind.
Anders is great because his internal conflict is personified by a spirit possessing him, so there’s this great clarity to H/C fics with him. The enemy isn’t this nebulous misbelief like in a conventional romance, it’s this literal being in his head demanding that he seek Justice for the wrongs of society.
It’s a really great metaphor for perfectionism, and having a lover tell him that it’s okay to rest, that he’s a good person even if he doesn’t save the entire world, maaaaan it soothes something really raw inside me. I love it!
36.Characters that you can’t decide if you prefer as ship or brotp
LOL I am actively struggling with Sylvie/Loki for this reason, because they are SOOOO good both ways.
Luckily I’ve found a harmonious solution in Queerplatonic Relationship dynamics.
Now I can have it both ways! :D

Now I want to hear the Stannis rant (when you have time)!!
hahahah have fun XD okay so for context, the tags I mentioned the aforementioned rant in:
#one day i’ll rant at lenght about how dnd never got stannis#bc they cannot conceive that a dude with THAT kinda moral compass is a complete disaster when it comes to interpersonal relationships#nor that half of the issues stannis has are bc he’s literally starving for people to see he has worth#while slaving for them anyway and being more competent than anyone else that passes before him#but this is not the day i guess
now: this is... a thing that I honestly struggle with when it comes to this fandom because the side that hates stannis thinks he’s a selfish arrogant asshole without feelings and the side that loves him is like ‘omg such a great battle commander GO RIGHTFUL KING HE’S SO BADASS’ and I feel like neither is an accurate reading because the first sees the character at mere face value (and most likely skipped the davos chapters) and the second only cares about his so-called badassness, but... thing is: stannis is an extremely competent person who’s also a disaster at relationships because he feels like no one cares for him (which isn’t exactly untrue as I’ll rant about later) who in turn everyone judges as uncaring and unfeeling when he actually isn’t and who in turn compulsively pursues what he can pursue because he has to compensate and who on the other side is absolutely starved for recognition except that he doesn’t get it.
and like... at this point I have to lay down the premises in the sense that while I really wish I didn’t, I... kind of really do relate a lot to that aspect - people assuming you’re cold/aloof because you aren’t immediately excited about things or don’t wear feelings on your sleeve - and tbh I really really love that grrm made a character who has the Good At Battles And So On reputation... a complete interpersonal rships disaster, because it actually gives him a whole new layer that I don’t see really discussed often and since that’s what I relate to... it’s sad. for me personally at least.
anyway, thing is:
the fact that stannis was the unloved baratheon brother is the exact first thing you learn from the acok prologue - I mean, ‘Stannis, my lord, my sad sullen boy, son I never had, you must not do this, don't you know how I have cared for you, lived for you, loved you despite all? Yes, loved you, better than Robert even, or Renly, for you were the one unloved, the one who needed me most.’ like, it’s the first thing the narrative throws at you in the face the moment that he does something that already puts him on the reader’s bad side ie dismissing poor cressen, but it’s basically the key to the entire damned point;
because first of all it implies stannis (who’s the middle child out of those three) felt like both his brothers didn’t love him and with their parents dying the way they did that goes too, and if we take into account the proudwing episode - he saves the damned hawk, he’s all happy he got it back to fly, robert mocks him for it and his uncle convinces him to let it die - it’s basically the metaphor for his life because whatever he does, the people who should notice don’t care;
this actually should be discussed along with the whole siege of storm’s end because like... stannis held out by almost starving himself and his men (but renly never mentions it whenever he speaks so I should suppose he doesn’t remember it as an extremely traumatic event when he was in the castle, so stannis made sure he actually had enough food to not starve most likely when no one else did) for robert and if he hadn’t done that when he was barely twenty if not nineteen they’d have lost the rebellion, which you’d think would give him nice things, right? no, because robert gives him dragonstone which stannis sees as a slight, he feels like robert loves ned more than him and he’s p. resentful about it, renly basically bypasses him when it’s time to claim the throne with the amazing explanation that ‘he’s not amusing and people wouldn’t like him’ when that’s not how succession works and he doesn’t seem to get one inch of appreciation by his relatives that he almost died for;
now he has that compulsive thing when it comes to laws and sticking to justice.... considering that he feels like all of his entire family wronged him since he was a teenager (and like, i’m obv. not blaming robert for not having been the best bc he also had trauma bc their parents died I mean we have issues but I get it) and like both his brothers feel like others (ned, loras/the tyrells) are more their family than him and/or that they don’t care for him because he’s sour/not immediately expansive/etc... are we surprised that he has that much of a problem with the concept of compulsively following justice/the rules? considering that when it comes to that it’s written black on white and fairness is objective, obviously he’s a sucker for the rules and he feels that strongly about his birthright - that’s because he feels like he can only trust in objective ruling that everyone should follow rather than people;
this is where I go personal, but... a thing that’s extremely common if you tend to be shy/not immediately an extrovert/if it takes you time to get to know people/if you aren’t a funny person automatically is that people start to assume you don’t have feelings or you don’t care about others, which in turn means that you tend to become even worse because the moment you open up you’re terrified that the other person will hate you, and that’s... peak stannis because the way he’s when the books start is out of all of that plus having married someone out of obligation for robert and getting humiliated on the same wedding night plus having just one daughter everyone sees as defective and that renly openly mocked at some point too but never mind that, and like... another thing with stannis that people don’t really notice is that while he’s crap at expressing his love for his daughter because he’s shit at feelings and relationships, he also loves her really fucking much and as someone else pointed out he didn’t educate her to marry into some other family, he educated her to be his heir and with davos’s male sons and so on, like he didn’t give her just a lady’s education, he gave her a full-on heir education, which outside dorne is unheard of, and in his last adwd chapter as much as dnd didn’t read it... he told people to put her on the throne if he died and to fight for her same as they would have for him. like, it’s obvious that he does love her, he’s just complete crap at showing it... same as he is in general because he doesn’t feel like he can be open about his feelings with people and because he pretty much has no fucking clue of how it works, which is... well... what happens when you grow up with that kind of emotional stuntedness;
that is, unless he’s talking to davos, which is what I’d really fucking like for people to realize. like, never mind the show, but when book!stannis talks to davos he immediately goes from 100% completely closed off to being all soft and as affectionate as it goes and I mean guys... just a couple quotes but:“He seemed ten years older than the man that Davos had left at Storm's End when he set sail for the Blackwater and the battle that would be their undoing. The king's close-cropped beard was spiderwebbed with grey hairs, and he had dropped two stone or more of weight. He had never been a fleshy man, but now the bones moved beneath his skin like spears, fighting to cut free. Even his crown seemed too large for his head. His eyes were blue pits lost in deep hollows, and the shape of a skull could be seen beneath his face. Yet when he saw Davos, a faint smile brushed his lips. "So the sea has returned me my knight of the fish and onions.""It did, Your Grace." Does he know that he had me in his dungeon? Davos went to one knee.”-"I am lowborn," Davos reminded him. "An upjumped smuggler. Your lords will never obey me.""Then we will make new lords.""But . . . I cannot read . . . nor write . . .""Maester Pylos can read for you. As to writing, my last Hand wrote the head off his shoulders. All I ask of you are the things you've always given me. Honesty. Loyalty. Service.""Surely there is someone better . . . some great lord . . ."Stannis snorted. [...] but I trust none of them as I trust you, my lord of Rainwood. You will be my Hand. It is you I want beside me for the battle."that’s TWO, and when davos says that his lords wouldn’t want him for a hand stannis goes like you’re more important than them to me pretty much, and in general the moment they’re alone together he’s way more open and vulnerable and sincere than he is when literally anyone else... that is because davos is the literal one person that not only is his actual friend (bc he doesn’t really have any other friends not even between his relatives), but also someone who:a) actually thinks the world of him;b) hasn’t batted an eyelid at his sense of justice I mean guys let’s be real he cut off davos’s fingertips bc he was a criminal at the same time as giving him a lordship after davos saved his life and everyone else’s and davos has the bones with him always because he thinks they’re his luck I mean k that’s extra but he actually does see stannis’s point when it comes to fairness;c) hasn’t disappointed him once;d) has only ever acted in his best interest;e) is the kind of person who’ll call him out on his bs rather than kiss his ass for honors and to someone who has stannis’s issues knowing that that kinda person exists means a whole damned lot;f) doesn’t think he’s there just to run the show without getting thankfed for it nor takes him for granted nor doesn’t recognize his efforts, which is 99,9% of his remaining issues with everyone else - ie that he does his job and does it well but no one recognizes it and everyone else passes in front of himg) sees his worth, which is a thing stannis is literally starved for but doesn’t get from many others period;which means he has one healthy relationship with someone bar maybe his daughter. one. that’s... not really that great or good whatsoever;
I mean there’s a reason why stannis wants that throne so bad. not that he cares about it, but that’s his right, so anyone else getting it would be the umpteenth time in his eyes that someone cheats him off something that’s rightfully is (storm’s end, his brothers’s love/affection/support etc);
like, it’s not about how stannis is such a great badass fighter strategist, it’s that he wants the throne that badly because not getting it would be just the last straw in the list of slights he feels that he’s been at the end of for his entire life and one more humiliating than any of those others, because otherwise he wouldn’t give a damn;
and like... what I think dnd missed and a lot of people also do is that the ‘great commander who wins fights’ doesn’t mean he also can’t be a guy with extremely bad issues when it comes to interpersonal rships thanks to trauma and to the almost entirety of people around him writing him off as the not fun boring guy who only cares about laws when the only reason stannis cares that much about what’s fair and what’s not is that he feels like everyone else has been unfair to him.
and like....... recognizing that would require admitting that stannis is the farthest thing in these books from a badass conqueror guy who wins battles and wants to be king and will be an equally badass king - he’s an extremely competent guy who became competent at his job out of sheer stubborness and perfection complex who is everything but an emotionless machine (regardless of what people who should know better ie his brothers might think) and who has been disappointed so much in this sense that he can only have a healthy relationship with one single person who is not so coincidentally someone who saved his life, didn’t see anything wrong in his strike for justice, recognizes his worth and would die for him, which... is really not anyone else’s case in his immediate vicinities (not counting his soldiers and so on but that’s another problem entirely). that requires admitting that westeros crap toxic societal standards have hurt him too and that he has a second side that’s not really so cool (guys being emotionally stunted is not fun, I’ll 100% guarantee it to you, and people assuming you’re cold or emotionless because you can’t immediately open up to them is even worse) and that if you want to project greatness on him you should also embrace the fact that he’s a complete human disaster who is as starved for recognition/appreciation as jon is and there’s probably a reason why they were getting along so well in adwd.
and like, I think the fanbase who hails him as the new coming of jesus doesn’t recognize that because it interferes with the fearless conqueror dude fantasy - which is his superficial reading, not his actual reading, same as people deciding he’s emotionless just out of superficial reading, while dnd obviously didn’t know how to write him since S3 because they couldn’t decide what to do with him... but obviously, because dnd have no idea of how to write a male character who is both a strong military commander and an emotional disaster who wants recognition for his own worth and isn’t a power hungry asshole. nvm that dnd have no idea of how to write emotionally vulnerable male characters (see what they did with jaime tyrion theon and sandor and that’s not even counting jon or robb) but stannis was obv. too complicated for them to even consider actually trying for real.
/two cents

Tyrelliot Quarantine: Baby Boom
Tyrell’s unpleasant father in law had been wrong. There was nothing Elliot loved more (even this integrated, sweet, focused Alderson) than proving someone wrong. Especially when he deserved it. From what he’d been told, when they were talking details about having their own children, the guy was as much of a horror show as his daughter. He either had no clue or was just plain proud of what sort of person she’d been when she was alive. Didn’t matter. Those people had no business raising a child; especially not the sweet, beautiful little boy; so Elliot made sure he’d either find the filth that son of a bitch should already be buried in, or make it happen in the only way that counted these days. He’d hardly had to lift a finger, the proof of Joanna’s parents ineptitude in child rearing was morally troubling, and they were both so much worse than that.
Tyrell had been able to bring home before the twins were born. If they hadn’t already been planning to build a family, watching him with his son cemented the deal. He’d need a sibling anyway, Elliot had reminded, already clueless as to why he was showing this early on.
Twins. Oops.
Rex and Milo. They were wonderful. Identical, each with a totally unique personality. The only downside? If you could call it that of course, was that they’d been made by a couple of very intelligent men. Which, in turn, became an upside when their lives, company, friends and loved ones, were hit with the pandemic of 2020.
There was no time to ask what the fuck had happened, why it was hitting so hard so close to home. These things happened, all over the world, and they could follow the plans of those that made it through them.
F-Corp was handled, more efficiently than ever, and surviving the pandemic.
After the couple secured a comfortable bubble at home, ensuring Darlene, Dom, and Leon were safely sharing the large house with plenty of guest room, they turned back the employees that were able to keep their work home as well.
An open channel to keep them updated and host live conferences whenever the need arised, had given Elliot an idea. And, maybe, just maybe, showing those that were still scared and overwhelmed, that this could be done and that those in charge were there for them, would give someone a little more hope.
“Ok, so, if you’ve been reading the news,” Elliot begins. In the distance, the webcam shot shows Tyrell coming up behind him with a steaming cup of tea. “Thanks. I’m going to miss the criminal amounts of caffeine I’m accustomed to.” He laughs, the blond behind him wrapping his arms around him, head rested gently on his shoulder. “Hold on Tyrell, I haven’t even said anything yet.”
The blond backs up, letting Elliot stand and do the same until most of his upper body is in frame. Tyrell whispers something, again wrapping his arms around him, this time lower. Unlike before, at this stage it isn’t quite as obvious until he rolls up a few inches of his sweatshirt. “Like I was saying, if you’re reading the news, you’ve probably heard the debates. Can couples last through this? Divorces? Or a baby boom?”
“We’re hoping for a girl.” Tyrell smiles, kissing Elliot on the cheek.
“Hard to plan for that, but he’d better have given me a girl.” It sounds like a joke, but those that knew him at F-Corp would knew better. “On a side note, this will be the 1st of 4 we didn’t plan for.”
Tyrell laughs. It is completely true. He’d planned for Caspar, they’d planned for the twins. “Yes. This time we were bored and the kids were in their own beds.”
Not that they didn’t squeeze in alone time, even during quarantine.”Hey it’s important to have time alone together. Like I told the kids, it’s good for the family.”
“You actually did, didn’t you.”
“You think they ever decide to sleep in their own beds on their own?”

Why can't I hold all these cool stories?
CURRENT CRAVINGS: Please see this GDoc, because I have some plots I’d like to try! I’m primarily interested in original plots and characters; setting them in original worlds or fandom worlds is fine. I am not interested in playing canons other than as side characters/world filler as of right now.
DISCORD: KYLO REN AT CHILI’S#8808
PERSONAL PREFERENCES
I’m over eighteen, and would prefer my partners are, too. This doesn’t mean I’m interested in NSFW-heavy plots; I do not write smut. It just means I’m more comfortable writing and interacting with other adults.
I consider myself to be lit-adv. I tend to enjoy partners in the lit+ category, but as long as you’re an enthusiastic and engaging partner, I don’t care about perfect grammar. I would rather write with someone just as involved and excited as I am, than I would with someone who isn't very engaging but knows exactly what to do with obscure punctuation.
I’m not interested in playing only one type of character or playing against only one type of character. I typically don’t enjoy writing with people who are only interested in playing one type of relationship dynamic or one kind of character (such as only m/f, playing the female, or m/m, playing the “bottom”). I have no problem with these dynamics or characters at all, nor do I have an issue playing against them. I just prefer more variety, compromise, and opportunity.
OOC chatter is really important to me. I can’t write with someone that I don’t feel like I can get to know. I’m looking for friends, not a faceless reply robot. I won’t communicate over any medium but Discord. I've tried Kik, Hangouts, etc.; they just don't stick for me. If you would prefer first contact be through email, you can shoot me a quick message and your handle to [email protected].
I’m fine with threading in a GDoc or a server, but I will not thread over DMs. It’s difficult to have OOC chatter and the thread over the top of each other.
If you're looking for a partner that writes a reply a day without fail, that's not me. I prefer that we don't have "posting schedules” or set posting times, because I find that it turns writing into a chore. It's great if you reply immediately, and it's totally okay if you need a week to figure something out! You’re absolutely free to poke me. I’m not always the most mindful. However, I’m not going to reply every day. Three to four times a week is my frequency.
PLOT PREFERENCES
I’m interested in both fandom and original settings, and I’m down for playing both canon characters and OCs. I don’t necessarily prefer one or the other.
I definitely prefer canon doubling from my partners in fandom plots; I mesh better with people who do a little give-and-take when it comes to that. If you only play one canon character or only play OCs against canons and won’t play canons, I don’t think we’ll work.
I can play as many characters as needed, whether it's just one or it's six. Whatever our story calls for, I can manage that. In fact, I would love to play multiple “main” pairings so we can both get what we want, versus a single main pairing (unless it’s a pairing/dynamic we both like equally well). I find more than one facet to a plot really interesting, and multiple characters helps flesh out a story’s dimensions.
I’m absolutely interested in joining groups, so please don’t be shy about asking me to participate in plots with more than two players. So long as they don’t involve me writing sexual NSFW, we’re Gucci; everyone else writing NSFW isn’t a deal breaker for me.
Multiple threads and plots at the same time are no issue for me. In fact, I love the idea that we click so well that we just can't stop coming up with good ideas! So definitely don't be afraid to pitch something new to me, whether it's because you want to switch gears (and drop a thread for another), or want to do everything at once.
Romance is a must for me! I prefer slow and agonizing journeys to get there, but my attention is best held by romantic chemistry between characters.
I can provide writing samples upon request, though I never require them from my partner. Additionally, I have some plots written out if you're interested in that sort of thing. Otherwise, we can brainstorm together!
FANDOMS
I’m very much a fandom player. I’m always down for AUs, or inserting our own characters into the plots of fandoms! This is in no way a complete list; never be afraid to ask if I’m into something! I’ve probably forgotten a hundred things I love.
Most of my fandoms will have favorite canon characters listed with them, both who I like playing and playing against; you’re always welcome to ask about others not listed.* There’s a good chance I’m pretty good with them!
*I will play OCs in every fandom, but I might not play canons in every fandom.

GENRES
For the most part, I’ll genuinely play most any genre! Of course, everyone says that, but then they shoot down all your suggestions because everyone has stuff they don’t like doing. I’ll try to make this as brief as I can, and know that if something isn’t listed, but you’re pretty sure (based on everything else) that I’m into it, then definitely let me know what you’re thinking!
SETTINGS
A/B/O (I will not play only alphas for only omegas, nor will I play overly trope-y, non-con, “boys love”/"yaoi" plots.), Age of Sail, alien worlds/alien invasions, celebrity, fairytales and mythology (including “inspired by” retellings), fantasy (including medieval, urban, and high fantasy), alt-historical and modern royalty, mutants/gifted, organized crime, science fiction (especially including aliens), some historical (excluding medieval, colonial, and the Roaring Twenties/Great Depression), supernatural, Victorian (especially the London ton), post-apocalyptic
PAIRING DYNAMICS
arranged marriage (I’m always down for slinging our characters together, whether or not they want to. It’s always a bonus if their families hate each other.), enemies to lovers (I love conflict of any sort, especially romantic!), human x not-human (The not-human must be sentient.), bad guy x good guy, intellectual x emotional, captive x captured (especially when the captured is willful, annoying, and full of fight), step-siblings (I don’t play step-parents x step-kids, so please don’t ask!), status/power imbalances (such as characters being from different socioeconomic strata or different ranks/positions in an organization), celebrity x bodyguard (I’m okay with the celebrity being the son/daughter/offspring of someone famous!), famous x not famous, rivals of any sort, unwilling traveling companions, unwilling soulmates
If any of this interests you, please feel free to reach out to me however! I'm really looking forward to hearing from you!

TIMEZONE: CST
PERSONAL PREFERENCES
I’m over eighteen, and would prefer my partners are, too. This doesn’t mean I’m interested in NSFW-heavy plots; I do not write smut. It just means I’m more comfortable writing and interacting with other adults.
I consider myself to be lit-adv. I tend to enjoy partners in the lit+ category, but as long as you’re an enthusiastic and engaging partner, I don’t care about perfect grammar. I would rather write with someone just as involved and excited as I am, than I would with someone who isn’t very engaging but knows exactly what to do with obscure punctuation.
I’ve tried Kik, Hangouts, etc.; they just don’t stick for me. If you would prefer first contact be through email, you can shoot me a quick message and your handle to [email protected].
I’m fine with threading in a GDoc or a server, but I will not thread over DMs. It’s difficult to have OOC chatter and the thread over the top of each other.
If you’re looking for a partner that writes a reply a day without fail, that’s not me. I prefer that we don’t have “posting schedules” or set posting times, because I find that it turns writing into a chore. It’s great if you reply immediately, and it’s totally okay if you need a week to figure something out!
I can play as many characters as needed, whether it’s just one or it’s six.
In fact, I love the idea that we click so well that we just can’t stop coming up with good ideas! So definitely don’t be afraid to pitch something new to me, whether it’s because you want to switch gears (and drop a thread for another), or want to do everything at once.
Romance is a must for me! I prefer slow and agonizing journeys to get there, but my attention is best held by romantic chemistry between characters.
I can provide writing samples upon request, though I never require them from my partner. Additionally, I have some plots written out if you’re interested in that sort of thing.
ALWAYS

The Beginning of Something

by MoodyAshe
〖 "I'll take it from here," Gendry said, "Ms. Stark, I re-watched your interlude performance from Saturday and I was impressed with you drumming ability. I'm about to start work on my next album. I'm putting together a creative team to develop how the album will sound and I want to extend an invitation to you."
Startled by the offer, Arya's mind went blank. All words slipped from her brain, her thoughts becoming a jumbled mess pooled at her feet. "Ms. Stark?" Gendry prompted. Arya blinked.
Arya didn't realize when she said yes to a once in a life time opportunity that it would jump start her career and help her find the one thing she hadn't been looking for. ⇿⇿⇿⇿⇿⇿⇿⇿⇿⇿⇿⇿⇿⇿⇿⇿ Arya Stark is a socially awkward drummer in college. Gendry is a world famous singer. What happens when Gendry asks Arya to be on his team for his new album? ⇿⇿⇿⇿⇿⇿⇿⇿⇿⇿⇿⇿⇿⇿⇿⇿
I'm really bad at summaries, so this sounds way cheesier than I planned. But trust me - the fic itself isn't as cheesy. (I promise)

A decade in fanfiction
The meme template was made by me myself and I! Please, if you’re interested go ahead and do it! I would love to see other people reflecting on their writing right along with me :)
Where can we read your fic? Please give us a link so that we can check these stories out!
my early fics can be read on my ffn The Ficsmith
on ao3, my pseuds are sunkelles and fullmetal anime
I also have lots of short things here on tumblr. i would try searching a favorite fandom of yours and au on my blog and something might pop up.
How many words of fanfiction have you written this decade?
On ao3, I have posted 1,031,824 words. I would bet that I posted 40k on ffn before i started posting concurrently to my ao3, and that i’ve posted maybe 80k of stuff just to tumblr? If I estimate that way and don’t think about unfinished works and wips, I’d say 1,151,824 words thereabouts.
How many stories have you written?
I’ve posted 338 stories to ao3. I am not going to go do the math to add on my stories from ffn as well.
Have you written on multiple websites? If so, which website is your favorite and why?
ao3 is my favorite website for fic because it’s just so EASY to search through, post to, and get your stats from. plus it’s very visually appealing.
Have you used multiple pen names? If so, list them and tell us the story behind the name
on ffn, i used a lot of pen names over the years, but i only remember 3 of them
1. thee sun. this was my first pen name on the internet and it was because back then, my friends and i had series of nicknames going where we were each a part of the solar system. one of my friends suggested that i should be the sun because i was happy and bouncy and the friend group “orbited” around me. it wasn’t really accurate then or now, but sun ended up sticking.
2. sunless skies was my emo change to that pseud
3. the ficsmith is my current name there as i thought the word “wordsmith” was badass and decided that ficsmith sounded very, very cool
on ao3, my primary pseud has always been “sunkelles”. half of it’s the old nickname and half of it’s another nickname i won’t get into. it’s a very personal handle for me that i love dearly
my second pseud is fullmetal anime, my anime pseud. fullmetal alchemist was one of my first anime when my old roommate got me onto my weeb phase in my twenties, and i thought that sounded too badass to pass up.
What is the first story you posted this decade?
I Will Never Leave You Alone: this is a percy jackson fic set after the lost hero. It was my imaging of how the meeting in son of neptune might go if percy didn’t get his memories back. it’s bad, but it was my first attempt at fanfiction. i think that it could have been a lot worse.
What is the last story that you posted this decade?
Not Willing to Wait for it: this is a tangled the series fic about cassandra. it’s not really my favorite thing i’ve ever written, but it’s not a terrible thing to end the decade on either.
What is the longest story that you have wrote this decade?
The Poetry of Time and Space: this is a pipabeth fic with annabeth as the doctor and piper mclean as rose tyler fic that i wrote back in 2013 at the urging of my first internet friend. coming in at 27,842 words, it’s the longest fic i have ever written.
while i wouldn’t call it some of my best work, i’m still fairly proud of the thing. writing it helped me make a friend (even if we don’t keep in touch anymore), it helped me find some cool poetry, and i did a lot of fun historical research for it!
i learned a loooottt about the history of spain for this fic and it was really cool.
What is the shortest?
A Good Listener coming in at 192 words, this pipabeth fic is at the polar opposite end of the spectrum. 2013 was a wild year, my dudes.
What’s your favorite?
I think that choosing a “favorite” would probably be too hard, but the one that I come back to the most is Over the Shadowy Hills. This fic could have been just good, but my friend was like. girl. you need to sort your shit out. and then i deleted it, worked on it with her help, and fixed it into something that i can still be really proud of. I’m glad that I decided to stick with it and give this fic the time and attention that it needed.
What story do you feel was your biggest challenge?
I don’t have a fic in particular I would say is my biggest challenge, but one challenge has been the growing pains of becoming a better writer. I’ve moved into a point where I need to tell more thorough, longer stories, but I also don’t have the time needed to do that at the moment and my desire for instant validation is fighting against my desires to not do work and be a better writer.
I know that right now I’m growing as a writer, but I’m not exactly sure what direction I’m growing in and how to deal with it.
Which story was your most creative?
All Katz Go to Heaven is certainly an idea that no one but me would have come up with XD the premise is “all of hannibal’s victims from the show hannibal die and are reincarnated in brooklyn 99″
Which story do you think demonstrates the greatest growth?
I think that Paint a New Horizon demonstrates a lot of my progress as a writer.
1. coming in at 23k, it’s one of my longest fics ever
2. it has some of my best visual descriptions ever, as i decided to write sansa as a painter and it make visual descriptions a FAR bigger part of the story than they normally are when i write
3. it handles dark subject matter, but i feel like i go into well. i’ve found myself dwelling in this universe a LOT, and i think that i might actually go back and write more of it over this next semester or summer because i just. like being in it. even though it was dark, it was also homey and lively and interesting, you know?
4. it’s the best romance i’ve written this year, hands down.
Here, have a snippet
She dared a glance forward and met Margaery’s eyes- a deep, chocolate brown. They were warm and inviting and Margaery’s little curly bangs framed her face like a heart. Margaery’s head went over the back of the booth and it seemed to almost be floating against the flowery wallpaper. It looked like Margaery was lying out in a field of flowers- the Maiden gazing up at the clouds and trying to make shapes of them.
She could imagine Margaery telling her that this one is a flower, like Tyrell, and this one’s a deer, like Baratheon, and this one’s a dick, like Joffrey. She giggled nervously again and felt her cheeks flush. She’d never felt this giddy and unsteady in her whole life.
“Are you alright, Sansa?” Margaery asked cautiously. She reached across the table and laid a hand over Sansa’s own. The touch was warm and tender, and Sansa felt the blush from her toes to the tip of her head.
“I’m perfect!” Sansa nearly screeched. Margaery laughed at that, but her look was kind.
“Yes, darling,” she said with a smile that was wide and fond, “I think that you are.”
Lesbian. The word wasn’t supposed to fill her with such a warm, hopeful feeling, was it? She wiggled awkwardly in her chair, trying to get situated and stop feeling so silly and excited and vulnerable, but it didn’t fix anything. She felt Margaery’s leg brush against hers under the table. It sent a jolt through her.
Lesbian.
Sansa took a shaky breath. She thought to herself that there might be something to that.
Tell us about your writing process.
my writing process is quite frankly all over the board. sometimes, i’ll sit down and just hammer out a fic start to finish in one sitting, but when i don’t do that i’ll make the thing come together in patchwork. i’ll normally start with some vivid pieces of dialogue that i want to write and then i’ll figure out where i’m going and how. often, since i write in a nonlinear fashion i might end up having to change what i’ve written for the middle or the end, but when i get there and it doesn’t feel right for what i ended up writing, i always decide that i’m better off with what feels more natural.
Tell us about how you come up with fic titles.
I have 3 different systems for determining fic tiles
1. come up with a cool title to write a fic around. i wrote Chasing Annabeth solely because i thought that would be badass title
2. try to find something external to the story, like a saying, a lyric or quote, that works with the message or mood of the story. for If You Believe in Me (I’ll Still Believe), I realized that both Memoria by Nirvana and Holland Road by Mumford and Sons shared a distinct feel with what I was doing with the fic, so I went through the lines of both and identified some possible titles.
Then, I decided that the line “if you believe in me I’ll still believe” felt the most right. I thought that it best conveyed how much Jeyne believing that Theon could become better again contributed to him actually going through with it, whereas some of the other options didn’t have either the external influence or faint hope that I felt the fic deserved.
3. find something from the fic itself or the source material! often times, i’ll end up with a motif in the fic that makes a perfect title, or i’ll have something to draw on from the source material. this feels different from the 2nd option because whereas that first one is going outside the world of the fic, this 3rd one is going inside the world of the fic.
Have you ever used an epigraph? Tell us about your reasoning.
I use epigraphs for the same reason that I use outside sources for fic titles. While sometimes I have that lyric or quote in mind while I am writing the fic, like Washing Machine Heart, sometimes you get to the end of writing and realize that you’ve created something that would be enhanced if you were to have your readers mulling over the theme brought up in a song while they’re reading, like Unfinished Business.
I don’t know, these are probably the reasons that ANYONE uses epigraphs, but it’s cool to see other people’s thought process.
What are some of your favorite lines that you’ve ever written?
Here’s a few of my favorite exchanges from my older or more underrated fics!
She swallows the spit that has started to pool in her mouth and continues, "We'll all end up dying and meeting the void face to face and blah blah fucking blah, but the thing is that's tomorrow. This is today. You remember Thalia, so she matters. And you matter because you're alive. Your heart's still beating. You can still do shit. See shit. Be the shit. Annabeth Chase, you can still do anything."
Chasing Annabeth (2013)
Annabeth tsks as she laughs, “You’ve always got to steal the attention for yourself, don’t you?”
Piper laughs and then pretends to glare, “Borrow. I borrow things.”
“Borrowing BMWs is still frowned upon, my friend,” Annabeth says and then everything is back to normal. The future is forgotten, if only for a moment in the company of a friend.
The Fates Smiled (2014)
“I guess,” Arya mutters, and she walks straight over to the trash. She pops the lid, and dumps the enormous plastic cock unceremoniously into it. Then she lets the lid close. She and Shireen look to the trash can in horror.
“Do you think that we should burn it?” Shireen asks.
She pauses a moment before she adds, “I’m afraid it’s going to attack us in our sleep.” Arya bursts out into laughter.
“I can hear the news anchors already,” Arya says, “women murdered in sleep by haunted dildo.” The Kids Are Alright (2015)
"I think huckleberry just came out too," Maya stage-whispers back, "two gays for the price of one."
"Bi one get one free," Riley says with a shit-eating grin
A Guide to Coming Out (2015)
"Do I look like a man with a plan to you?" He tries to look as crazy as he can. Rachel isn't buying it. "You impersonated a member of the mayor's honor guard, you predetermined and informed us of every victim before you killed them. You're a planner, Joker. You're even a good one." The Joker shrugs. "I'm not a schemer, though. Don't hang my hat on whether or not things work out." In that moment, Rachel understands this man. Rachel understands why he does the things that he does, even though she thinks that he's the scum of the earth. "You wanted to let us know all our plans would fall apart. You wanted chaos." "You're a smart woman, Ms. Dawes," The Joker says, cracking a smile, "you know what I did to you and your boy toy was nothing personal. It was just to turn the schemer's plans on their toes.
The City of Bats and Clowns (2016)
Zatanna crosses her arms over her chest as she leans against Bruce’s black SUV. The “parking lot” at this camp is a glorified field of grass. It rained last night, and there are muddy ruts left all throughout the field and little muddy puddles scattered everywhere. It’s disgusting and rundown and everywhere that Zatanna doesn’t want to spend three weeks of her summer.
“I don’t want to go to this stupid camp.” Endless Summer (2017)
Rose feels a twist in her gut. This might be worse than finding out he wanted to desert. This is knowing the reasons behind it, having to see him as human in his mistakes and understand why he made them.
Oh how heroes fall and then stumble back up again.
The Spark That Will Light the Fire (2017)
Sloth is all the memories you have and never asked for, all the feelings you don't know what to do with.
Sloth is your feelings towards two boys who aren't your sons- can't be- because you never wanted them in the first place.
You never asked for this, to be born half-formed and hungry. To be born somewhere between not caring and caring too much, to just go along with what you were told because you don't care enough not to.
You never asked for those two boys to look at you the way they do, like you're something hideous and beautiful all at once. Like you're their sin to bury, their damsel to save. All you've ever wanted is for it all to stop.
The Seven Deadly Almost People (2018)
What are you favorite characters to write.
I don’t really have “favorite” characters to write because I bounce around so often. I’ll have a new favorite next year, but my favorite me character that I wrote THIS year was Dabi.
Which story was the most fun to write.
Out of all the stories I’ve written, Dicks in the Wind comes to mind as being the most fun. The soulmate au where whatever your soulmate draws on their skin appearing on yours might not be my all time favorite, but the idea of spitefully drawing dicks on your own face to spite the soulmate who hurt you while also hurting yourself is both really fun but also really interesting? I really liked getting to explore the implications of that idea, the humor, Sabine’s relationship with Kanan, and the possibility of a reconciliation between her and Ketsu.

If you could have written one story this decade that you didn’t get around to, what would this have been?
There’s lot of fics that I wish I would have gotten written this decade. I think that if I could have written ONE fic that I didn’t get around to this decade, though, I would have turned my tucker turns ed into a chimera instead of nina tumblr post into a real fic.
Do you write original fiction as well?
Sometimes! I don’t write it as much as I’d like, but I’ve written some short stories and I have some longer wips.
Did you ever do nanowrimo this decade? If so, tell us about your projects.
I tried nanowrimo in both 2017 and 2018. My 2017 was a story idea about magic pirates. My 2018 was a story based on a fic idea I had where ed HAD created al like al thought he did in fma 03 for a while. it would feature prominent relationships with characters inspired by winry, wrath, and lust. both of these have about 15k to their name.
What have you learned writing in the past decade?
I’ve learned a lot about myself as a person. For better or for worse, the easiest way to get to know me would be to go through my ao3 and just start reading.
I also feel like I’ve learned that I CAN be a writer. While I have a long way to go if I ever want to become any good at original fiction and develop a thick enough skin to get it worked up to publishing shape, I know that I have the skills to at least give it a try. If I don’t, I’ll always have these stories that I hold closely to my heart and this hobby that’s brought me a lot of joy.
What are your writing goals going forward?
At the moment, I’m not entirely sure. I feel a little bit like I’ve stagnated and I need to figure out a way forward, but I’m not entirely sure what that way forward IS. I think that the way forward is longer projects (maybe even more original fiction) but I’m going to need to figure out a way to not devote all my mental energy to these projects at a time and also not let them wither and die.
In the past, I’ve only been able to do proper, well written long fics when I had a LONG time to dedicate to getting the thing done. Like, days and days off that I could devote multiple hours to the writing project. In the future, I don’t think I’ll have that. I just need to find a way to not get SO into it that I can’t do anything else, but also maintain the energy and drive to keep coming back to it.
Tell us about what aspect of your writing makes you the most proud.
I feel like I excel at word choice. People frequently comment on my fics that there’s something about the wording that just FLOWS, and I would have to agree. I feel like I’m good at choosing words that both sound good and hit emotionally.
Tell us anything else that you’d like! This is your reflection post, so end on whatever bang you would like!
Thank you to everyone who has supported me over these past nine years! I haven’t been on tumblr for this whole time (i’ve only been here since 2012), but i grown a lot, both as a person and a writer, over this decade.
if you had told me when i wrote my first fanfiction that by the end of the decade i would write the order of the phoenix more than 5 times over in fanfiction, i would never have believed you.
not every fic that i wrote was fantastic, but every fic that i wrote was MINE, and it’s a memory that i get to come back to when i’m feeling sad or lonely or like i can’t do something. so, thank you fanfiction, for always being there for me. even if you might be there for me a little too much XD

Although Bacharach has cited "Alfie" as his personal favorite of his compositions, he and Hal David were not eager to write a song to promote the film Alfie (a release from Paramount Pictures, which owned Famous Music) when approached by Ed Wolpin of the Composers' Guild. David thought the title character's name pedestrian: "Writing a song about a man called 'Alfie' didn't seem too exciting at the time."
The composers agreed to submit an "Alfie" song if they could complete it within three weeks. Bacharach, in California, was inspired by a rough cut of the film about the Cockney womanizer played by Michael Caine. Bacharach felt that: "with 'Alfie' the lyric had to come first because it had to say what that movie was all about". He arranged for David – in Long Island – to receive a script of the film to enable him to compose the lyrics. David utilized one of Caine's lines, "What's it all about?", as the opening phrase. David's lyrics were then set to music by Bacharach. The original was recorded in the key of F-sharp major, but Bacharach usually plays it live in B-flat major, the same key in which Cilla Black recorded it.
Although Bacharach and David suggested "Alfie" be recorded by Dionne Warwick, their most prolific interpreter, Paramount felt the film's setting demanded the song be recorded by a UK singer. Accordingly, Sandie Shaw, who had had a UK #1 hit with the Bacharach/David composition "(There's) Always Something There to Remind Me", was initially invited to record "Alfie". When Shaw declined, the song was offered to Cilla Black, who had also had a UK #1 with a Bacharach/David number, "Anyone Who Had a Heart".
Black was invited to record "Alfie" in a letter from Bacharach, and Black recalls him saying that the song had been written specially for her. Brian Epstein, her manager, was sent a demo of the song, originally performed by 22-year-old Kenny Karen, with Bacharach on piano, accompanied by a string ensemble. Black reacted negatively on hearing the demo "of some fella singing 'Alfie' ... I actually said to Brian 'I can't do this.' For a start - Alfie?? You call your dog Alfie! ... [Couldn't] it be Tarquin or something like that?"
Black states that, rather than declining outright to record the song, she decided to set conditions: "I said I'd only do it if Burt Bacharach himself did the arrangement, never thinking for one moment that he would. [When] the reply came back from America that he'd be happy to...I said I would only do it if Burt came over to London for the recording session. 'Yes,' came the reply. Next I said that as well as the arrangements and coming over, he had to play [piano] on the session. To my astonishment it was agreed that Burt would do all three. So by this time, coward that I was, I really couldn't back out."
The session for Black's recording of "Alfie" took place in the autumn of 1965, in Studio One at Abbey Road, and was overseen by Black's regular producer George Martin. In addition to the agreed arranging and piano playing, Bacharach conducted a 48-piece orchestra, and the session also featured the Breakaways as background vocalists. According to Black, Bacharach had her record eighteen complete takes before he was satisfied with her vocal, while Bacharach's estimation of the total number of takes, including partial ones, is as high as "twenty-eight or twenty-nine...I kept going [thinking] can we get it a little better...[add] just some magic[?]. Cilla was great and wound up delivering a killer vocal as she did on so many of my songs."
"Alfie" was released in January 1966, four months prior to the opening of the film. The single was essentially intended as a specialty item to foster interest in the upcoming film rather than a mainstream hit. However the track accrued enough interest to enter the UK Top 50 in April 1966, reaching #9 that May.
Black's "Alfie" was released in Australia, New Zealand and the US in July 1966, a month prior to the release of the film in both countries. Despite the soundtrack appearance of a version of "Alfie" by Cher in the film's worldwide release, Black's "Alfie" was a sizable Australian hit at #22. It went to #20 in New Zealand. In the US - where Black had previously enjoyed only one moderate success with "You're My World" in 1964 - her "Alfie" single just made the Billboard Hot 100 at #95, the pop mainstream sector's focus being primarily on Cher's version of the song, which was only a moderate hit in the US at #32. Interest in any one recorded version of "Alfie" was dissipated by the plethora of easy listening-oriented covers which were in release by the summer of 1966.
Cilla Black titled her 2004 autobiography What's It All About?, a reference to the opening phrase of the song. The grave marker beneath the headstone on her burial plot in Allerton Cemetery is inscribed with four lines taken from the bridge and the third verse of "Alfie". Lyrics from Black's hits "Step Inside Love" and "You're My World" also appear on the marker. The black marble headstone and marker were installed 18 April 2016, eight months after Black's death on 1 August 2015. Following the December 2015 theft of the original bronze nameplate, Black's grave remained unmarked until drier weather permitted the installation of the replacement marble headstone and marker.
"Alfie" would not become a Top 15 hit in the US until the spring and summer of 1967 when Dionne Warwick, the most prolific interpreter of Bacharach/David compositions and the composers' original choice to record the song. Warwick's version peaked to #15 on the Billboard Hot 100, #5 on the Billboard R&B Singles Chart and #10 on the Canadian Singles Chart. Introduced on the December 1966 album release Here Where There Is Love, Warwick's version of "Alfie" had been an impromptu addition to a recording session at A&R Studio in New York City whose scheduled tracks had been completed early; Scepter Records A&R man Steve Tyrell suggested to Burt Bacharach that the booked time remaining be put to use by having Warwick record a version of "Alfie". Warwick, though feeling it pointless to increase the song's massive cover version count (there were by then some forty-two recorded versions of the song), was persuaded to record the song, cutting her vocal in a single take.
Although the "Alfie" track on Warwick's Here Where There Is Love album began receiving radio airplay as early as January 1967, the track was not issued as a single until March 1967 and then as the intended B-side of the Bacharach/David composed "The Beginning of Loneliness"; however disc jockeys preferred "Alfie", flipped the single to its B-side, and the track began to ascend the Billboard Hot 100 in April 1967, with a major assist from Warwick's performance of "Alfie" on the 39th Academy Awards ceremony television broadcast live worldwide on April 10, 1967. Billboard's year end tally of the biggest Pop hits of 1967 ranked Warwick's version of "Alfie" at #44 in a Top 100 of the year composed otherwise of Top Ten hits.

Will the Game of Thrones Ending be the same for the books?
In short, yes and no. And no and yes (a very GRRM answer).
Honestly for me, the biggest problem I have with D&D’s ending is I don’t think they put in the work nor earned that ending. It felt rushed and it felt like they wasted time on things that didn’t really matter and not so much that they left things unfinished or ambiguous for the future, but just didn’t take the time to finish their own story.
Certain endings don’t make a whole lot of sense, because we don’t know a lot of the details nor does it line up with what they’ve changed in the story or have previously set-up in the show, let-alone this current season or the final scenes themselves.
But I can imagine that the show’s endings are the bare notes for the books. Hitting the same points, but lacking the more complicated and nuance aspects to those endings.
This turned out to be more of a rant and longer than I ever intended.
King Bran
I don’t see D&D making Bran king, unless it’s GRRM’s ending. I just don’t. I just can’t see that.
I don’t want to speak for them, but it’s in my opinion, that they cared very little for Bran’s story. Or at the very least, struggled with adapting it from book to screen.
I could see Book!Bran becoming King. Not for the reasons the show give us.
Saying he is the best choice because he has the best story, is complete bullshit and a terrible reason to elect someone into a leadership role. Just terrible.
Especially since Show!Bran’s story, due to D&D, was one of the weakest of the show. Since they written him out in season 5 and it seems like we barely spent time with him as an actual character, since he became the Three-Eyed Raven.
And to be fair, it’s not a clear fit for Book!Bran to become king. Right now, it’s unclear if Book!Bran will be as emotionless as Show!Bran. So, there’s that. And Bran is going down a very dark path as the Three-Eyed Raven, in the books, so him becoming King, also depends on how dark that path goes and how dark Bran gets.
There’s also the snag that within the show, Bran’s story seems incomplete.
What did warging and seeing the past and more importantly being able to affect the past have to do with Bran’s story? Or the entire story, in general?
We don’t see Bran do anything (except warg into ravens during the battle) actively against the NK or even to get the position of king. So, what’s the point?
It feels incomplete, because Bran affecting the past has been building up to something…
1. His father heard him and turned back, but nothing more. A small ripple.
2. Bran wargs into Hodor, while he’s still connected to the past, completely damaging Hodor’s psyche to the point he can only say Hodor. This is a horrifying and traumatic event, but on an individual-level, not that big of a ripple
…These incidents are building up, so logically the third one will be a big thing….
But nothing.
Was Hodor the culmination of Bran’s powers? Because then what’s the point? It feels like there should be a third time Bran goes to the past and affects it, either with severe consequences (Mad King Burn Them All theory) or Bran being in complete control having learned from his mistakes and does exactly what he intended to do.
But nothing.
Bran uses his powers to see the truth about Jon, but in the show that almost barely matters. So, there’s just this big disconnect with Bran’s journey and what he does in seasons 7 & 8 and where he ends up.
Also, because we were cut off from Bran’s POV and how they executed the Rise of Bran & the Fall of Daenerys, Bran comes across as an amoral to evil mastermind, who at worst orchestrated all of this so he could be king or allowed everything (thousands and thousands of deaths) because “fate demanded it.”
Either way it’s not good. And on top of that.
Either Bran did nothing to become King, which feels unearned. Or he did a lot (or did nothing purposely) to become King, which again, is actually terrifying.
Bran’s magic may not be as overt or destructive as Daenerys’ dragons, but they’re just as all-powerful, which makes the story end on a weird note when you start to think about it and the implications and themes, particulary “power.”
We can argue that Bran doesn’t want power, like Daenerys. But he has it. And still accepted it, to be king. And indicated he knew it was going to happen...so, it’s a weird place to end when you start to think about it.
D&D were likely not trying to make Bran come across in the end as evil or at the very least not a terrifying amoral monster, but because they basically abandoned the actual character of Bran and focused on Three-Eyed Raven creepiness, it feels sinister.
There’s also the weird hiccup, that in GRRM’s work, knowing your future or a prophesy about yourself or believing you have a prophecy entirely figured out, basically dooms you. Especially if you’re in a position of power or seeking it.
So, it’s weird that basically the one person who kind of becomes omniscient in this world, get this coveted position of power with no doom on the horizon…that doesn’t sound like GRRM.
So, there’s a lot of snags with the idea of Bran becoming King.
But again, I just don’t see D&D making Bran king unless it’s GRRM’s ending. Like I can’t see them doing that. I see them making Tyrion King on their own or literally anyone else before Bran.
How exactly he becomes King and where the remainder of his journey takes him up to that point, we’ll have to see.
I can definitely see GRRM making it feel more than earned and fitting. Unfortunately, I can also see GRRM naming him Bran the Broken, so there’s that.
Dragon Pit Council
I can see the Dragon Pit Council or a form of it happening. And I think it will be more fitting and more touching for the readers, especially when you consider who will be on the council in the books. And I can see those book versions wanting to stay part of the 7 or 6 kingdoms.
Arianna Martell will most likely be on that council. And she will likely feel guilt and regret and possibly traumatized for her role as a Queen Maker with Mycrella and the death that awaits her and possibly Arianna’s role with F!Aegon. It’s also highly unlikely she will be a supporter of Daenerys (due to Viserys, Quentyn, F!Aegon). She might be more than willing to work with and within this new system due to her own previous lust for power and wanting to make amends and build a better world.
Willas or Garlan Tyrell will most likely also be on the council, representing the Reach. And due to the unknown future fates of their own family due to their pursuit of the Iron Throne, the Tyrell representative might want to take a step back as well. Especially if it is a similar to the fates of the Tyrells in the show.
Asha Greyjoy (Book version of Yara) could likely be part of the council (if Theon is also dead in the books), but she is more difficult to pin down, mostly because my memory is lacking (it’s been awhile since I last read the books). But it will most likely make more sense than Yara’s whole purpose in that scene.
And most likely… Robin Arryn will represent the Vale. Edmure Tully the Riverlands.
It’s highly unlikely Gendry will be part of this, but I can potentially see Edric Storm being a part of the council and representing the Stormlands.
I can see the council existing in the books.
It’s also possible that, in the books, the 7 Kingdoms afterwards might not be so much a single kingdom under one ruler. It might be more of the separate kingdoms working together, with the guidance of Bran.
Overall, though I think we will definitely get into the nitty gritty of how this new kingdom will work, with some strained tension and potential conflict and future struggles of making this kingdom work. Peace isn’t easy.
The actual scene itself happening...no.
Tyrion literally tells us why no one in this scene should listen to him, half of them hate him for helping a Tyrant who slaughtered an entire city and the other half (barely) hate him for helping to kill the rightful Queen who saved them from a tyrant. So, it makes no sense that they listen to Tyrion and it’s frustrating that Tyrion has to tell them to make the choice.
Also why does Tyrion who we were told just a minute ago is a prisoner and doesn’t get to speak, but than in a hot second, he gets to make a speech and decide the future fate of Westeros. Don’t get me wrong, I can 100% see Tyrion talking his way into making the decision, but that’s not what happens. They just let him talk, because the writes need Tyrion to be clever and smarter than everyone else in that scene.
Also, it makes no sense that Davos, Gendry, and Sam do not speak up for Jon. And even less sense that Jon would have to be punished, when the majority of the named characters in this scene, had a problem with Daenerys, had no feelings in particular towards her, or distrusted her because she was a Targaryen.
Also, why didn’t the Unsullied just kill Jon once he confessed or once they discovered him in the room? Why did they even keep him as a prisoner? They don’t keep prisoners for long. So why would they keep their worse prisoner alive? Why? And there are more things that just don’t add up in that one single scene and what follows.
But I think this is a bare bones and nonsensical version of what will happen in the books or some varying degree of it. Basically, a council of the major lords of Westeros seems very likely to be part of the future government of Westeros.
Tyrion, Hand of the King
I’m on the fence of whether that’s going to be part of the books or not.
To be clear, that’s not a punishment. It’s just not. If we really wanted to believe that Jon and Tyrion were being punished, they’ve should made Tyrion join the Night’s Watch and force Jon to be the Hand of the King. The two of them would’ve hated that.
And similar, to the reason for why Bran was elected King, I don’t see the reasons Tyrion was chosen being the reasons in the books.
1. Not wanting the position
2. No longer thinking himself so clever and wise
Are not good reasons for someone being elected into a position of power, they’re just not.
They are nice subtext and symbolic reasons for an author, but not for the actual characters of the story. One major problem I had with this last episode, was it felt way too meta.
So, it’s possible Tyrion becoming the Hand of the King will be more of an actual punishment for him or his own way of actually trying to redeem himself. (what the show was saying, but struggling with executing)
One possible fate for Tyrion (actually shown in the show) is that he won’t be remembered in the history books or the stories in the future. A tragic and unfair fate, but also a fittingly poetic sentence for a man who wants to be recognized and acknowledged.
Tyrion and Oberon discussed (I think) how it was the hands of certain kings who were the pivotal key to the future, but yet are not recognized for their accomplishments as they are attributed to the King….so that being Tyrion’s fate seems possible.
So is Tyrion just going to be the real power manipulating Bran?
Bran barely matters in the Small Council scene…actually he doesn’t, so that begs the position, what’s the point of Bran being King? Tyrion making the decisions and Bran being nothing but a figurehead is weird and rather pointlessly frustrating.
I can’t see Tyrion “manipulating” the closest person to be omniscient in this world. And the show is ending on an optimistic note. So, we can safely assume future nefarious deeds of Tyrion (intentional or not) aren’t been indicated by the creators in those finale scenes.
Tyrion’s fate still feels largely undecided for the books.
Show and book Tyrion are more than a bit different at this point, to say the least.
So, it’s possible that GRRM’s own ending for the character is more than a bit dark and twisted for this lighter and far more sympathetic version of Tyrion and D&D didn’t feel like they could do that to Tyrion. Particularly with Dark Dany. And with Peter Dinklage just being a break-out star and fan favorite.
The difficulty I have with Tyrion being hand, is I don’t see Tyrion being in a position of respect or power in the end. Tyrion is quite the tragic character. He has been unfairly vilified and hated for being a dwarf and has never been accepted by the masses.
While we may want them to recognize Tyrion for all the good he has done, that doesn’t feel likely. With Tyrion being suspected of killing Joffrey, actually killing his father (+ Shae) and possibly bringing Daenerys to Westeros or being on her side when she arrives and unintentionally sowing the seeds of rift between F!Aegon and Daenerys, it seems doubtful the people of Westeros would ever accept Tyrion. And I think there is a debate to be had whether they should or not.
There are actual reasons why people shouldn’t trust or forgive Tyrion, but rarely are those people’s actual reasons. So, Tyrion, since the moment we’ve known him has been unfairly judged and cast aside. And then Tyrion wants revenge and as he seeks justice for the way he’s been treated, leading him to some terrible and awful choices and to a dark place.
All of that only adds to the fuel of the vilified image of him that already existed, before he even did anything (since he was born).
Tyrion’s fate feels very up in the air and relies very much on what he’ll do in these next two books. So, him being Hand of the King in the end, doesn’t quite match up with where we see Tyrion currently in the story, but I can’t say it would never happen.
However, to be clear, the way it happened in the show was just complete bullshit.
Three Stark Endings
I’m not all that mad with Arya, Jon and Sansa’s endings. I can see those being possible endings for all those characters.
My problem is again, I don’t feel like D&D put the effort into said endings, so it feels rather hollow and beyond rushed.
It feels weird to end on Arya, Jon, and Sansa in that epilogue sequence. Because other than the Crypt teaser, the three haven’t really been framed together like that.
Bran, Arya and Sansa have been showed together way more than Jon, Arya and Sansa.
It’s one thing that the rest of the show doesn’t allude to that final sequence, but it’s even more out of place that this current season doesn’t have it. This finale seems very separate from the rest of the season and it’s so weird.
It just feels weird to end on Arya, Sansa and Jon when we didn’t even get Sansa and Arya’s immediate reaction to Jon Snow’s true parentage. So, it feels like an out of place ending for them.
Also, side note, it’s weird and so imbalance how we get so many different reactions of people learning about Bran being the Three-Eyed Raven or you know, just is that way now (despite how funny those are) and Jon being a secret Targaryen and heir to the Iron Throne (AND COMING BACK FROM THE DEAD) has become this interesting tidbit, that doesn’t really matter.
We really have been cut off from the Stark’s overall POV for this last season. And seeing the Starks go off on their own, separate from one another, is less sad and rather emotionally pointless, since we never really saw the pack work together as a unit.
Tyrion, Jaime and Cersei have more of an emotional connection and dynamic together. Which is fine and enjoyable to watch, but it’s weird that the STARKS who are supposed to be the HEART of the story, don’t honestly get the same kind of treatment.
And then there is just logical and emotional fallacies in this finale.
I’m not upset that the Starks are going their separate ways, but more so that we never honestly saw them together or even working together to get their “endings.” They’re also working individually, even screwing one another over by accident.
Their endings seemed to fall into place for them, which is kind of disappointing. Or in Bran’s case, kind of sinister, especially with the implications of what happens to Jon.
Arya Exploring Lands Unknown
I can this happening or a version of it in the books. I do have a problem with Arya repeatedly saying she was never going to return North, though. I don’t know why they kept having her say that.
Also, clearly Arya had to get her Stark sails and Stark ship (with direwolf carved in) from somewhere. Did she just stay in King’s landing? Or did she return to Winterfell and leave the day before Sansa’s coronation?
That’s not really important, but maybe if the emotions matched with what we’ve been given, I wouldn’t have these small nitpicks.
Also, Arya not getting a pack in the end, her literal family or not, is just beyond disappointing and feels empty. Arya fully embracing the lone wolf idea, is just so bitter.
Sansa, Queen in the North
Sansa becoming QITN honestly feels like the must genuinely bittersweet ending.
The North is independent and she is queen and respected (sweet), but she’s alone (bitter). It’s hard to imagine Book!Sansa’s family, not being there for her big day, though.
Why wouldn’t Arya wait to leave after her sister’s coronation? Why wouldn’t Jon be there to visit?
And in the books, if this scene or something akin were to happen, we might be able to picture some Northern faces. Such as the Manderlys, the Mormonts, the Karstarks, the Umbers and Glovers and the Reeds present, so it might feel less isolating. But in the show it’s pretty lonesome.
And on the Jonsa narrative, the two haven’t been brought together in the books…so it’s hard to say what will happen or if anything at all. I still stand by the fact that their scenes in the show are really weird if the show was going for platonic siblings. Really, really weird. But one line from the books, sticks out to me…
“No one will ever marry me for love” (ASOS, Sansa VI)
Perhaps Sansa is right. Perhaps the one person who does genuinely love her and want to be with her, will never actually marry her. That seems very bittersweet to me and quite the tragic love story.
Sansa’s ending feels like it could be her ending in the books. But again, like everything else it doesn’t quite line up for Sansa either.
Jon living on the Wall/Beyond the Wall
Possible.
I am a big fan of giving a character what they always wanted, in a tragic way. And it brings Jon full circle. Back to where he wanted to be in the beginning, back to where he struggled to be, back to where he became who he is today, back to where he wanted to leave.
Why exactly he goes back to the NW is where the problem really begins (let alone there suddenly being one again). Jon being punished to appease the likes of the council (despite most of them not caring for Daenerys in the actual show) and the Unsullied, seems really just forced.
It does seem in-character for Jon to do it as a self-inflicted punishment, though. Or similar to Aemon Targaryen, giving up his right to the throne/7K to allow his younger brother to create a hopefully better place. Or perhaps, punishment for breaking his vows to the NW.
But it’s not even up to Jon in the show. His agency in his own story is barely there (as it’s been for the past season). He’s not even there when the decision is made and the person who tells him is Tyrion, not his family, nor Davos his closest advisor nor Sam is supposed best friend.
The Council scene is all about Tyrion, despite the fact a good portion of the council likes Jon, is his family, he’s the true born son of Rhaegar Targaryen and he’s the one who killed Daenerys.
Don’t get me wrong, I feel like Jon’s “destiny and super specialness for being a Targaryen” will be undercut in the books, but in the show they not only undercut it despite going overboard with it explaining how Jon is the trueborn son of Rhaegar and Lyanna, but also undercut Jon’s own arc.
Jon will likely be the last official Targaryen, finally putting the dynasty and family to rest. And him rejoining the NW or going to live beyond-the-wall with the Free Folk is a way to do that.
But of course, there’s a lot more going on in Jon’s story in the books.
There is so much King emphasis for Jon in the books, so I’m not convinced.
But perhaps Jon is the rightful King, but won’t be The King in the end by choice.
Jon shouldn’t be the king because he’s the son of Rhaegar, but time and time again, Jon has shown he is a more than capable leader willing to make the difficult choice.
In the show’s own narrative, he killed his love for his duty to the realm. And he’s punished for it.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not like GRRM doesn’t have this world punish people for doing the right thing, but this just doesn’t add up.
There’s a lot of talk and videos about how the show’s ending does fit into the prophecies (book & show) and Jon was the only one capable of killing Daenerys, because he’s a Targaryen (Drogon letting him pass). But that is a terrible take away. Jon shouldn’t be special or be the only one capable to save the world from Daenerys because of who he is genetically, it should be because of who Jon is as a person.
And in regards to a Jonsa narrative. Similar to Sansa’s ending, Jon and Sansa have yet to reunite in the books so it’s hard to say. But let’s say some feelings and so on do develop in the books, this time, him returning to NW might be with a much heavier heart. Now he knows what he’s giving up and losing, now he knows what he’ll never have. That’s tragic and an ending to talk and cry about.
I can see Jon getting this ending or one akin to it in the books. But how GRRM goes about it is everything. Though honestly, just having Jon choose would be a huge improvement.
How they went about it in the show and Jon’s overall passiveness to his own narrative, just ruined it. He literally has to be convinced by Tyrion (and Arya) that Daenerys is a threat, despite already seemingly coming to that conclusion the previous few episodes.
Again, I know I’m repeating myself. The final montage of Jon isn’t the problem it’s how the narrative got there.
Daenerys’ Death/Mad Queen
Probably won’t go down like it did in the show, but it will happen in the books.
I’ve seen a couple of Essays and Videos of how to fix the final season, mostly with making NK being the big bad and Daenerys the true Queen of Westeros.
Which I think just shows how much people love Daenerys and how badly rushed Mad/Dark Dany was in the final season and I would argue how it felt like even the narrative wasn’t fully believing it.
Mostly with how Jon seemed to be frustrated, horrified and upset with Daenerys one moment and then in the next moment he’s willing to justify her actions and still somehow believe that Sansa and Arya would bend the knee or that Daenerys would allow Sansa to live after Sansa purposely told Tyrion the truth about Jon.
The build-up for Dark!Dany is there, people can’t just say it wasn’t. Daenerys has struggled with her two sides for quite some time. But, at the same time, if you need a whole meta conversation to explain and justify to your audience why this makes sense (Tyrion and Jon scene), you didn’t do a great job in sticking the landing.
The problem is that the show, in my opinion, has been building up to a different kind of Mad Queen. One who was absolutely ruthless, but wasn’t self-aware and starting to see any dislike or criticism as an act of treason. Getting increasingly frustrated, everytime she does the right thing or doesn’t use her dragons, she isn’t rewarded for it. And when she does use them, she gets her way (so why shouldn’t she use them?)
And to be fair, we did kind of get this…but also we didn’t. They kept “justifying” Daenerys’ actions. Or blame her ruthlessness on her mental state or recent events, but then they also back track on that.
So, it just seems like the showrunners weren’t entirely sure with which Mad Queen they wanted.
They go all the way with it, but then they take several steps back, but that just leads to more problems. For showrunners and a show that really does love GRRM for those gut-wrenching twists (Ned’s execution, Red Wedding, Hold the Door), they seemed to be so nervous and hesitant with the big and final gut-wrenching “twist.”
When Tyrion is a prisoner, his and Jon’s scene just doesn’t work. In my opinion, it might’ve worked better if Tyrion was the speaker for the audience and Jon wasn’t.
Tyrion has been trying to justify Daenerys time and time again and has felt like that audience view point for quite some time. But honestly that scene just doesn’t really work. Neither of them at that point should need convincing.
Daenerys death will likely be tragic and sympathetic in the books as well be done by Jon. She is a tragic character.
Unlike some of the other villains of the show, Jaime and Cersei for instance, where we first see them as villains and then with their POVs (and others) we see the humanity they’ve always had. They aren’t monsters, but complicated and messed up people who are more than capable of monstrous acts.
Daenerys is the reverse of that. We always had her POV, we always had access to her humanity. We see her as this sympathetic and abused princess at first and we see her grown to being this complicated character, who is genuine and well-intentioned, but also rather ruthless and is hardening herself for the Iron Throne.
We will likely see her as a ruthless villain in the end, maybe even mad, but I think GRRM’s intention is for us to also remember Daenerys when we first met her and see how far gone she is and also think of what could’ve been.
The throne room works and doesn’t work.
I love the House of Undying coming true and us realizing what it means or getting confirmation for it means. See that’s how you tie your show back the previous seasons, you don’t just reference previous lines in current scenes, to make it seem like you had this all planned out.
We see Daenerys as vulnerable and open, but also batshit crazy. She’s elated and happy she’s won, but completely oblivious to the death and destruction and villainy she just committed and had committed in her name. It works.
But it doesn’t, because it’s also a different kind of mad queen to the one that they’ve building up to and also even a different one from “The Bells.”
And Daenerys being thrilled and happy to see Jon could’ve also work.
Daenerys is so elated and happy she’s won now, that Jon’s claim doesn’t even matter to her, because she feels invincible So she’s more than willing to “rule together.” That could’ve worked… It really could’ve and shown how far gone Daenerys is.
But it doesn’t quite, mostly because Arya and Tyrion literally in the same episode tell Jon that he’s going to be next, because Daenerys will see him as a threat. Hell, Daenerys and Jon have a (not sexy) tensed filled moment, after her speech to her army.
Forget the rest of the season (you shouldn’t as this should all feel like one whole story) but all the scenes in the finale should definitely feel cohesive and consistent to the narrative. But it still feels like they are trying to do multiple things and they can’t, they don’t have the time.
Jon & Dany
I think their relationship will be complicated to say the very least in the books.
Daenerys with her desire for a true family and a true companion battling with her ever growing paranoia and lust for power and the Iron Throne. And more than likely her having encounter F!Aegon before Jon, which will likely go very bad, so her meeting another Secret Targaryen after that is just rife for conflict.
And Jon, I actually see Jon turning a blind-eye or ignoring some red flags about Daenerys, not necessarily because he loves her, but because he thinks he needs those dragons to defeat the Others.
Only for him to realize that they weren’t the key to defeating the Others like he thought and him realizing what he’s given power to, was all for naught.
The show has shades of that, but kind of just abandons it.
Jon might struggle with killing Daenerys in the books, as well. Killing isn’t easy and we shouldn’t’ want our heroes to be able to kill easily.
And Jon might also love Daenerys in the books or see her as a sympathetic human who is not quite the villain others make her out to be, but certainly not innocent.
Him seemingly flip-flopping from seeing her as ruthless Tyrant to the love of his life, from scene to scene, not so much.
I don’t see Jon killing Daenerys because of his love for her, if Book!Jon does love her, it will be despite it (what they were going for in the show, but not really succeeding with).
To be fair, their final scene is honestly the most romantic scene (stabbing aside) of these two. I believe that they both do love one another and it’s 100% doomed. If they had this level of feelings and consistency for all their previous scenes together, insead of Jon side-eyeing Daenerys and looking frustrated and unable to saying anything about her other than the vague “she’s our queen/she’ll be a good queen”, I would fully believe this tragic love.
Just to be clear, a fictional couple’s most romantic and believable scene being the very same one where of them kills the other is very bad.
But I think, Jon killing Daenerys in the books, is less “despite his love for her”, and more for the love of his (other) family, to protect them. Because that love is stronger. I think that will be more explicit in the books, than in the show.
Jon killing Daenerys not necessarily due to his feelings or lack of feelings for her, but because of his love for the Starks. It’s not so much about Daenerys (which is quite tragic), but the threat she poses to Jon’s family.
Daenerys will be betrayed for love. Meaning the person will do it out of love, most likely not out of love for her.
Cersei and Jaime’s Death
Highly unlikely.
Book!Cersei is a lot more mad and more incompetent than Show!Cersei and I think will be far more desperate in the end. I do think Jaime will return to Cersei in the books. Even to save her in the end, but depending on where Cersei is mentally at the point, she might be 100% willing to set the entire city on fire with Wildfire.
I think if you combined the Throne Room scene of Jon and Daenerys (X) with the Jaime/Cersei scene in the dungeons/caves, you basically get show!Valonquar scene, which might be the case in the books.
But it’s hard to say.
Cersei is definitely going to die. Jaime is more up for debate.
This was a lot longer than I ever intended and far more of a rambling rant and tangent, so I apologize (in case anyone ever reads this far down).
It’s not like some of these ending don’t or can’t work for the characters, it just feels like D&D didn’t put the effort into them and it feels like they learned that this was going to be the ending right before they shot the final episode.
It shouldn’t feel like that. Other seasons aside (we shouldn’t, but let’s give them the best chance), this final season should be one consistent and cohesive story narratively. The characters changing their minds and perspetives on things, should make sense.
Sansa in season 1 goes from loving Joffrey to willing to do anything to stay with him, to fully willing to push him off a ledge. And it works. Because Joffrey beheaded her father. It makes sense.
Cersei in season 8, goes from apparently sending Bronn to kill Jaime and Tyrion to being so happy to see Jaime and scared that Jaime is hurt when she reunites with him. And I’m not saying, what Cersei is witnessing at that moment (burning of King’s Landing, castle crumbling down) won’t change her perspective, but it still feels very jarring and sudden.
Daenerys goes from feeling threatened by Jon’s parentage to begging him (and implied threatening him) to keep it a secret no matter the cost to Jon and we have several characters repeat that she’s not going to want to rule with him, to her final scene being so happy to be with Jon and willing to rule together. And again, maybe her winning the throne makes her feel invincible even to Jon’s claim, but it feels sudden and jarring.
And Jon...just all over the place.
Okay I’m done.

Original Character A.N.O x Elliot Alderson
chapter [I] A strange encounter
Loud buzzing was ringing in my ears as I suddenly opened my eyes. I got up from the bed, still feeling shaken by the nightmare I just had. 'Shit, it's Monday' I think, staring at the little black alarm clock on my nightstand. It read 7 AM in bold green characters. I ruffle my hair with my right hand. My body was pleading for some more rest but I knew I couldn't afford to waste more time. I simply took my phone to check for new messages I might've received last night. I notice 2 messages from Tyrell wellick, Annoyance clear on my face as I read the text about how if he made me his personal manager, my payment would get boosted aka bullshit. I just responded with a 'no thank you' at his 'generous' offer. Plus, I don't want my cousin's wife to think something dirty is going on.
Yes, you heard me, I'm the cousin of this dipshit. You would assume that I'm the same as him since we're related and all, but guess what, I actually deny and don't go straight up killing like him. I've worked at E-Corp for like what? 3 months now? And everyone sees me as an enemy, well more like the fans and the F-society clan. Most people don't even know what F-society means, That name's true meaning is 'fuck society' in my opinion. My inner monolog was abruptly stopped as the realization struck me,
'who am I even talking to?'
I shook my head and check the time, now it was 7:15 AM, 'wow I spent 15 minutes staring at the wall' I get up and stretch before deciding to take a bath. While preparing the tub, of course, I put a bath bomb in there. I usually like to entertain myself with those. I put my headphones on and I let the warm water and music relax my aching muscles. I lay there for 30 minutes. After I got myself out I then dry my hair and body. I jump into my suit and put my hair in a nice bun. I go to get my glasses with screen protection because I want to actually see when I'm old. I laugh at my little joke then give food to my bunny, Scott, and leave some water for him before I leave for work, feeling both bored and sick of this hell of a day named 'Monday'.
I pass both men and women, all somehow looking scared yet confident, I see teenagers with masks on their faces as they run past me, one of them colliding shoulders with me, making me lose my balance a little. As I regain my balance I hear the kiddos screaming "F-SOCIETY BITCH!" from behind me. I smirked, seeing how these revolutionary people who created 'F-Society' Just gave these rebels the reason to burst out like bombs. I chuckle, unimpressed by this world. I enter the subway and immediately notice an overdressed dark figure sitting down, waiting for their ride. I tried not to seem too obvious, my introvert self got curious but I just brushed it off, losing my interest as soon as it came. I sit across them, opening my termux and tried to connect with this person's phone.
yeah yeah, I can already hear you say: 'what the hell? you work at e-corp but you're a hacker, but you are not in F-Society?' well let me let you on a little secret, whoever made this, they never wanted that to end like this, they had a good and reasonable cause for it. Maybe people from the company? maybe the corruption and the nasty things women have to do to be someone?
Yeah, sorry but no, I'm not into that shit. I always had the urge to meet them, though. This site they used to make posts, it was so well encrypted, it made my heart skip a beat at how good they were. You may be asking why I said what I said about them. That's just how I feel about it, no one can do this shit ALONE
My attention got caught by the dark dressed guy. He was staring at me deeply, he must have noticed the black text, I quickly turned off my phone and just got up. Luckily, my train was there so I had a good excuse to leave. To my surprise, they also got up and started to follow me. I felt my body tense but I quickly recovered and tried to act as nothing happened. He probably knows I'm onto him. but I'm relaxed because I know I'm going to work and they cannot pass the guard. But this is most likely a common ride and I'm worrying too much, haha. I smile to myself when I notice they were looking at me again. The train stops and I get off, this being the station I was supposed to be at. Then I just leave, still feeling their eyes on my leave form. I give them a smirk over my shoulder.
'well, that was interesting' I laugh to myself as I walk out of the subway to my building (e-corp). It only takes a short while for me to get to my office. I put my purse down before I start the computer, ready to
start this somehow not so bad on monday.....
TIME SKIP TO 4 PM
wow, I'm very surprised Tyrell didn't visit me at all, he must have been REALLY busy today' i think as I get my stuff and put the papers that need to be finished in my purse. I say goodbye to everyone before I start walking to Ron's coffee shop. I heard what happened to the owner. Very unfortunate for him. I get my coffee and waste no time to walk out. I get to the old' sweet subway quite fast. While I wait for the train to arrive I can't help but notice someone with a black hoodie sitting next to me. I ignore the fact that our shoulders were almost touching. After a few moments, I hear a deep male voice say:
"you tried to hack me...why?"
His voice seemed lifeless and cold and that made a shiver run up my spine. "Well you caught my attention with your way of dressing, You looked like you were hiding something, but I didn't seem to get anything out of Termux" I answered, trying not to sound as interested in the topic as I actually was "So did you follow me back there or was it just pure coincidence?" he was silent for 5 seconds then spoke "Well e-corp and Allsafe are pretty close" I turn my head to look at him, only to catch his beautiful eyes already staring at me. "I thought the boss of Allsafe died and that the company died with him," I say a bit thrown off by his eyes
"one of my colleagues discovered that the company has a very nice compromise with e-corp," he said then got up, I followed suit after I noticed our train was here. I entered a different door, only to stare at him from across the corner of the cabin we were in. I huffed under my breath then averted my gaze from him to text my friend, Ollie, who has been single for a while now, not that I'm interested or anything. Ew, no. I just wanted to note that, who knows maybe I'll need it for later. I decided not to tell him about this guy and just get this man out of my head.
I go back to my hacking for a while before I notice someone in here had a stolen phone in their possession. I shortly made a report about it to the police. 15 minutes pass before the train stops and I walk out. In no time I'm back to my apartment's building. I turn on my phone to check the time, the screen read 6 PM. Jesus, I must've talked to that guy a lot. I chuckle as I enter the building then shortly after, my small-sized apartment. Seeing Scott jump and make cute rabbit sounds made me smile. I picked him up, giving him a few pets. After I set him down in his cage I changed my clothes. now more comfortable, I plopped down in my bed with my laptop.
I soon notice my Kali is open, but those were not my commands. I quickly cancel every process it had, then quickly backfire the other hacker's camera. I smirk, seeing that it was the guy from the subway again "What? Already got obsessed with me?" I chuckle, knowing I won't get an answer, "Next time you underestimate me, use the //blockcamera_01." I shut down the laptop, knowing its clean from any social media. After I set it on my nightstand I decide to go to sleep but first I made sure to delete every message and log out from every account on my phone.
That night I fell asleep with a cocky smile resting on my face

Letters (Jon Snow x Reader)
To @janeschwartz1 and @msclifford, here’s the second part to New Friends! I hope you like it!
Description: The letters you share with Jon are slowly getting more familiar until you are forced to stop. Years pass with nothing, and Jon is starting to lose hope, until finally a new letter arrives.
To Jon Snow,
I have finally arrived at King’s Landing. The journey was uneventful for the most part. I am sure you must have heard about what happened to Sansa’s direwolf. I truly wish it didn’t have to happen, but my mother is not one to let such things go easily.
I know my uncle, Tyrion, traveled north with you, saying something about seeing the edge of the world. I understand he can be a bit trying at times, but he truly is a kind person. Please be patient with him. How is your new life in the Night’s Watch? Please write soon, it’s awfully boring in King’s Landing.
Signed,
(Y/N) Baratheon
—
Jon thought for a moment, quill in hand as he stared at the piece of parchment before him. He had to remember what he was taught. He must use his manners, even if it felt like he was talking to an old friend.
—
To the crown princess (Y/N) Baratheon,
The Night’s Watch wasn’t what I was expecting. In truth, your uncle was the only one to tell me what it really was. The men here have no honor. They hate me simply because I am better than them.
You uncle seems to be enjoying his stay. He sits with the Lord Commander at dinners and is given plenty of furs to keep warm, though he is always saying how cold it is. Are my sisters alright? Arya has some trouble with being a lady, and I’m worried about how she will fare in the South.
Signed,
Jon Snow
-
To Jon Snow,
Sansa has taken quite well to life in the south. She acts almost as if she were born to be here. Arya sometimes has trouble with her duties as a Lady, but she raves about her new dancing instructor. She’s asked me to tell you she is even more skilled with her needle than Sansa is with her own. Hopefully, you can make more sense of that than I.
Please remember that, while it may not seem so, you grew up with far more luxury than many of the boys you are living with. Perhaps try to help them, and they will begin to see things your way.
Your father is to have a tournament in his honor soon. The entire city is talking about it. My uncle, Jaime, is favored to win, but I’ve heard whispers of a new knight named Ser Loras Tyrell. What do you think will happen?
Signed,
(Y/N) Baratheon
P.S. I’ve already told you, I’m not very inclined to my title. Please just call my (F/N).
—
Jon smiled. Of course you would yell at him. He could just imagine you scoffing to yourself as your read his first sentence, rolling your eyes and reaching for your quill in defiance. He frowned to himself. He wanted to impress you somehow, but with what?
“Jon, hand me one of those pieces of parchment,” Sam called. Jon smiled. That was perfect.
—
To (Y/N) Baratheon,
You were right. The men in here with had never even picked up a sword. Once I started to help them learn a bit more, they started talking with me. A new man has arrived just recently. His name is Samwell Tarly. A man named Rast was told to attack him, but I stopped it. Ser Allister Thorne, the man training me, is very angry at me. Rast wanted to keep hurting Sam, but we made things very clear with the help of Ghost. No one will be attacking him any time soon. That made Thorne even more angry, but I’m hoping it’ll pass.
Please tell Arya that no matter what her dancing instructor told her, I’m the one who taught her the first rule of how to use her Needle. I have heard the rumors you speak of, but I doubt anyone could unhorse the Kingslayer in his own city. Do tell me how the tournament went. If I know my father, he’s working himself too hard as the King’s Hand. If he is, please tell him to take a break. How is your family? Is Joffrey treating Sansa well?
Signed,
Jon Snow
-
To Jon,
I’m so sorry. You must know by now that my uncle has been taken prisoner by the Lady Stark. She claims he had something to do with your poor brother’s predicament. When my uncle Jaime confronted your father with the news, Lord Stark took credit for everything. My uncle was outraged, and they got into a fight. One of the guards stabbed your father’s leg with a spear and they left him there. He is alive, and the Maester has hope, but he looks awful.
Please, if you hold any sway with Lady Stark, ask her to release my uncle. Tyrion loves children, and he likes Bran. I know he would never hurt him.
Yours truly,
(Y/N) Baratheon
—
Jon inhaled sharply. He had no doubt what you were saying was true, and he’d met Tyrion before. He wished he could help you, but Catelyn hated him with every fiber of her being. She would never listen to what he had to say, whether it was true or not. Still, he was determined to offer you some comfort.
—
To (Y/N) Baratheon,
I’m sorry, but I hold no favor with Lady Catelyn. She would never do something simply because I asked it of her, and I fear she might even react violently to any suggestion. But fear not. Lady Catelyn is rather vindictive, but she is not stupid. She understands that killing Tyrion could be very dangerous for her family.
I have some good news, bad news, and disappointing news. My uncle’s horse arrived alone at the gates recently. I’m worried he might have died beyond the wall. I am an official man of the Night’s Watch now, but I’ve been appointed the steward of the Lord Commander, Jeor Mormont. Sam says he’s grooming me, but I’d still rather be a ranger, like my uncle. Please give me some advice. Your council is always comforting and wise.
Yours truly,
Jon Snow
-
To Jon Snow of the Night’s Watch,
I regret to inform you that I am no longer to write to you. Your father and half-brother are traitors to the crown and my beloved brother, King Joffrey Baratheon, first of his name. Your sister has declared her loyalty to her betrothed, and is thus the only loyal Stark left. Arya has escaped fled the Keep, your father has declared complete blasphemy, claiming my brother is not the true heir to the throne, and your brother now marches towards the capital. I’m sorry, Jon. Good luck on the Wall.
Love Signed,
(Y/N) Baratheon, first of her name, crown Princess of Westeros.
—
Jon frowned and reread the letter. It didn’t sound like you. It sounded too forced. You’d never used your title before.
He knew he should be concerned with the content of the letter. The thought of his father in the dungeons and his brother marching on the south terrified him, but the idea that you might be in trouble almost made him sick to his stomach.
Quickly he’d made up his mind. He saddled his horse and fled Castle Black. He didn’t get very far before Sam, Pip, and Grenn stopped him.
“Jon, you can’t leave. You’ll be killed as a deserter!” Sam said.
“It’s my family, Sam,” Jon lied. He knew in his heart that he was riding to King’s Landing. He needed to make sure you were safe. “I can’t just ignore what’s happening.”
“We’re your family now,” Sam insisted. “We’re your brothers.”
“I’m not going back, Sam,” Jon warned. He started to move again.
“Night gathers, and so my watch begins!” Pip moved forward to cut him off again. “It shall not end until my death. I shall live and die by my post.”
Grenn quickly picked up the oath. “I am the sword in the darkness.”
“The watcher on the Wall,” Sam continued.
Then, all three spoke at once, repeating the oath they had memorized like the back of their hands. “I am the shield that guards the realms of men. I pledge my life and honor to the Night’s Watch, for this night and all the nights to come.”
Jon grit his teeth together. He knew what you would say. You’d say he made a commitment and he had to honor it. Sam handed him Longclaw, meeting his eyes and almost begging him not to go. Jon nodded slightly and went with his brothers back to Castle Black.
(Suuuuuper long time skip)
Years passed, and it never got any easier for Jon. Thoughts of you plagued him day and night. He’d received letters speaking of your betrayal of the royal family. According to Cersei’s propaganda, you helped to aid the fugitive, Sansa, after she killed your brother. It was a slight comfort to him that you were with his sister, but he would still rather have you here, in his arms.
Then the letter arrived.
-
Dearest Jon,
It has been far too long since we last exchanged letters, and for that I am truly sorry. I was forbidden from sending anything to you, and all of my ravens were monitored on a constant basis. Now, I am asking for your help.
Your sister, Sansa, has become a dear friend of mine, and I fear she is in far greater danger than she realizes. I do not trust the man she is with any more than I would trust a lion. Now she is to marry Ramsay Bolton, the bastard who was newly made a lord. I’ve heard rumors of Ramsay’s cruelty, and the fact that his father betrayed his honor and your family makes me even more wary of him. What I’m asking, Jon, is to know that, should we need it, we could be safe in Castle Black. I know I have no right to ask such things after all this time, but I need your help, now more than ever.
Forever yours,
(Y/N) Baratheon
—
Before he’d even had a chance to think, Jon had already picked up a Quill and piece of parchment.
—
Dear (Y/N),
You are always welcome in Castle Black, as well as my sister. I do not care how much time has passed, all that matters to me now is that you are safe. Be careful around Ramsay. I’ve heard similar things that you have, and he is not one to be taken lightly. I hope to see you soon.
Yours truly,
Jon Snow
-
Weeks passed without a reply, and Jon found himself constantly pacing back and forth, hoping for your arrival.
He was no longer obligated to stay on the Night’s Watch - he’d done his duty and given his life. He was finally free to tell you how he felt. If only you were here.
There was a commotion down in the square, men murmuring amongst themselves. Jon looked down to meet your eyes. You had grown a lot. You’d been beaten and worn and thrown around like you were nothing. Yet still, you had a fire in your eyes.
You were just as he pictured those many nights standing guard on the Wall. Your beautiful (H/C) hair cascading down in waves, those same pools of (E/C) gazing into his very core. Tears clouded your eyes, and Jon couldn’t take it anymore. He ran down into the middle of the square, taking you into his arms in a warm embrace. You were dirty and sweaty and a bit bloody, but he couldn’t imagine letting you go.
After a very long embrace, the two of you parted. Jon held your face gently in his hands, studying every detail like it was the last he’d ever see you.
“Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch, eh?” You smiled weakly. “You’ve done quite well for yourself, haven’t you?”
Jon shook his head. “I no longer have any obligations or ties to the Night’s Watch. I’ve done my duty, and I’m free to leave.”
You were silent a moment, staring into his eyes in shock. Finally, you uttered three words. “Thank the gods.” You crashed your lips into his in what must have been the most passionate kiss in history. Everything the two of you had been through went into that kiss, from the moment you met, to when you lost all hope of seeing one another again, to finally reuniting after years apart. You loved each other, more than anything else in the world, and through this kiss, you both knew it. Jon made up his mind the second your lips touched. He would never leave you again, for this night and all the nights to come.

The double self: Doctor Aldersen & Mr. Robot, the false myth of progress and the overthrowing of the capitalistic pattern through divided personalities.
Mr. Robot, the much acclaimed American drama thriller, is a television series created by Sam Esmail and aired for the first time in 2015.
Plot
The series revolves around the miserable and lonely life of Elliot Alderson, a young security engineer, who works for one of the richest and most powerful corporations in the world, the E-Corp, through his own point of view, which is heavily influenced by his social anxiety and his chronic paranoia. One day, he is recruited by a mysterious anarchist known as Mr. Robot and joins his team of hacktivists known as fsociety. They plan to cancel consumer debt by destroying the data of the E-Corp (which Elliot calls “Evil Corp”) and to inspire a revolution that will ultimately lead to an equal distribuition of wealth and to the downfall of the capitalistic pattern.
A double first-person narrator
The story of the revolution is told through a first-person narrator, which is Elliot himself, and through his thinking process. Elliot, however, has serious dissociative disorder, anxiety and paranoia, resulting in each episode being one big paranoid delirium, and the viewer shuffles from reality to illusion, not knowing what actually happen and what was just product of Elliot’s mind. Nonetheless, Elliot perceives the viewer as a product of his mind, talking to him and talking to himself at the same time, so that the narrator and the viewer are one and the same, two parts of the same mind.
Although Elliot's mind and his imaginary confidant is already a division of his mind, this is not the only way his personality gets split up. In fact, later in the series, after finding out Mr. Robot is his (supposedly) dead father, his sister Darlene and his friend Angela see him talking frantically to apparently no one, bleeding and severely hurt. When asked what he was doing, he admits he was talking to Mr. Robot, his father, whom he pushed out of a window in a rage tantrum - as his conscience comes back, he finds out Mr. Robot is no one but himself, and that he threw himself out of a window during one of his manic episodes. So, Mr. Robot is Elliot's alter-ego: he's the unconscious, instinctive part of his soul, taking over his mind to make up for Elliot's inadequacy and introversion; unlike Elliot, Mr. Robot is bold, irreverent, loud, a born leader. A modern Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde scenario, where Elliot hadn't known he'd been the one to plot the downfall of capitalism out of interiorized spite and disdain for the utilitarian society.
Mr. Robot can be cold-blooded, tyrannical, hateful, harsh; he hurts Elliot and the people he loves. Not unusually Elliot shows his willingness to free himself from his alter-ego, resorting to morphine and several other expedients, and even to the strict regimen of prison (calling himself guilty of hacking and privacy violation), ignoring him when he appears, not letting him take control. However, Mr. Robot is controlling and an undeniable part of him, as cruel and destructive as he is, and he can never get rid of him.
Although Mr. Robot, with his merciless and fierce behaviour, represents Elliot’s opposite, he is still part of him. Not to mention, Elliot perceives Mr. Robot as his dead father, whom he deeply loved and cared for - Elliot relies on him and never actually shuts him down. Mr. Robot saved him on several episodes, and Elliot loves him, as twisted as their relationship is.
Other characters
Even though they’re not clinical cases, every character in Mr. Robot needs to be mentioned, even if briefly, in this article, because of their divided selves. As a matter of fact, characters in Mr. Robot don’t change - they’re anything but dynamic - but as the story goes on - so, as Elliot progressively understands what is going on around him - they reveal their real personalities, and their real intentions, which might be the complete opposites of what the viewer thought at the beginning of the series. The clearest example might be Tyrell Wellick, Elliot’s “rival”, who in the first two episodes shows his cold, detatched manners. When you first see him, you might think he’s the typical ambitious and merciless villain, all perfect and with a heart of stone.
In reality, as the story goes on, his façade falls, and he reveals his extremely emotional and moody personality, levelling this impassible, god-like villain to a simple, flawed human being.
Another example is Whiterose: professional, calm Chinese Prime Minister of State Security by day, fierce and fearless leader of one of the most powerful hacker groups in the world at night.
The real illusion: the false myth of progress
Elliot: You’re not real. Mr. Robot: Is any of it real? I mean, look at this, look at it! A world built on fantasy! Synthetic emotions in the form of pills! Psychological warfare in the form of advertising! Mind altering chemicals in the form of food! Brainwashing seminars in the form of media! Controlled isolated bubbles in the form of social networks. Real? You want to talk about reality? We haven't lived in anything remotely close to it since the turn of the century! We turned it off, took out the batteries, snacked on a bag of GMOs, while we tossed the remnants into the ever expanding dumpster of the human condition. We live in branded houses, trademarked by corporations, built on bipolar numbers, jumping up and down on digital displays, hypnotizing us into the biggest slumber mankind has ever seen. You'd have to dig pretty deep, kiddo, before you can find anything real. We live in a kingdom of bullsh*t, that even you have lived in for far too long. So don't tell me about not being real: I'm no less real than the f*cking beef patty in your Big Mac. As far as you’re concerned, Elliot, I am very real.
One can argue that one purpose of the TV drama is that of showing how Elliot’s mind is no more messed up than the society he lives in: Elliot’s delirium blends in so well with modern society that the viewer is not sure of the dividing line between the two. He always expresses his disappointment and dissatisfaction of our unjust, contemporary society; the way we’re being controlled, the way we’re not even conscious of our enslavement, the fact that progress and materialism have made us nothing but brainwashed lapdogs, the fact that only a small percentage of the population can actually call themselves rich, the fact that money overcomes relationships. And at the same time, it’s the same reality that allows us safety and control. Our society is divided as well.
The representation of the Middle Eastern world in Mr. Robot
In a show that clearly shows today's multi-faceted Western world, it is impossible not to show the very different Middle Eastern reality, and talk about it. The main character, although born and grown-up in America, is of mixed race, and his feelings and problems are based on the creator's very own experiences growing up as a Muslim immigrant.
The best representation, however, is given off by two other characters: Sunil and Shama, two hacktivists of fsociety fighting to destroy the Western system that continuously discriminates them, to avenge the failing American Dream their families wanted to pursue but failed because of America’s interiorized racism. Many developments this season were extremely direct critiques of President Trump and his supporters. In an episode, Shama and Sunil, on the run, are framed by the Chinese as Iranian terrorists and used as scapegoats to cover their evil actions. Elliot knows the two of them weren't part of any terrorist plan, but what he doesn't know is that the Chinese set them up to divert attention from their leader's political plans and drumming up public support for the unlikely candidate she is backing in the upcoming presidential election in an effort to sow chaos and discord: Donald J. Trump. And the worst thing is Elliot knows he's powerless, since the medias are already targeting them as terrorists and people will unlikely question it, helplessly falling into the propaganda hole. Nearly through the end of the season, Elliot finds the courage to visit Shama and Sunil's families to give out his condolences. The episode is one of the most sentimental and meaningful of the whole serie. “This country now blames Muslims for everything,” says Shama's father as he sorts through their belongings, as they're about to move out. “There’s no room for us here anymore.” But later on, as Elliot decides to kill himself by the shore, he meets Mohammed, Shama's little brother, who asks for a trip to the movies. While there, Elliot recreates with Mohammed the same memories he once had with his own father, but the movies are his memory lane, not Mohammed's. The boy runs away, and Elliot finds him praying in the mosque, the happy place he and his sister grew in. There, they have a meaningful conversation — Mohammed calls Elliot out on his suicidal tendencies and on the Western society’s individualistic pattern (”Why do you always talk about yourself?”), and Elliot understands he has something to live for. Maybe for the first time, we don't see a place of indoctrination, but a loving place to go to find hope —and so Mohammed says: “Did you know I could be President of the United States? My sister couldn’t be. She wasn’t born here. My mom and dad couldn’t either. I’m the only person in my family who could be President. Isn’t that cool? If I were President, I would be able to stay here. In the house we live in. I would find a way to bring back my sister. I’d put the real bad guys in jail. And I’d make everyone eat Pop Tarts for dinner. And make everyone be nice to me.”, and Elliot realizes there are still things left that are worth living for.

Daenerys Targaryen & JFK
“...let both sides join in creating a new endeavor, not a new balance of power, but a new world of law, where the strong are just and the weak secure and the peace preserved.
“All this will not be finished in the first one hundred days. Nor will it be finished in the first one thousand days, nor in the life of this Administration, nor even perhaps in our lifetime on this planet. But let us begin.” --President Kennedy's Inaugural Address, January 20, 1961
“Shall we begin?” --Daenerys Targaryen, Game of Thrones 7x01
This post was inspired by a Dany quote from the show, but imma do what I usually do with the show, which is project my book!feelings all over it. This post is not intended to be a commentary about the show**, it’s about the books.
**There is one other Dany quote from the show that I intend to comment on below, but only because I feel it ties into the above JFK quote, in terms of ASOIAF themes and Dany’s book!characterization.
I’ve been thinking about this since the summer, when I first saw show!Dany trailing her hand lovingly over the Painted Table, over the hills and valleys, the rivers and mountains, places she’d heard about her whole life. A quote from A Game of Thrones was playing over that scene in my mind:
Somewhere beyond the sunset, across the narrow sea, lay a land of green hills and flowered plains and great rushing rivers, where towers of dark stone rose amidst magnificent blue-grey mountains, and armored knights rode to battle beneath the banners of their lords.
And when Dany went to stand at the head of that table, it was one of the only times in season 7 where I felt I caught a glimpse of things to come in the books. A pale shadow of GRRM’s Westeros, to be sure, but I could see it.
Tiny, slender 16-year-old Daenerys, her hair shining like molten silver in the gloom of the Stone Drum. Daenerys, standing where Aegon the Conqueror had once stood, at the head of a great painted table stretching away from her into darkness, as a great Night falls over the continent. And this table! A table -- a map of Westeros -- so large that, if stood upright, it would be over five stories high. GRRM’s Westeros has such grandeur, “like in the great stories [...]. The ones that really mattered.”
(Like, I don’t think Dany would be in that special seat where Dragonstone is located on the map, I think GRRM would deliberately put her at the head of the table, beyond the Wall, foreshadowing her true destination.)
I have no idea what wondrous and highly quotable things GRRM would have Dany say and think while standing there. But that question show!Dany asked -- “Shall we begin?” -- that question captured the essence of it for me.
And you’re all gonna think I’m lame, but my mind jumped to President John F. Kennedy’s Inaugural Address, to that similar line, “let us begin.” And no, I don’t claim the showrunners intended this parallel between Dany and JFK, and tbh I don’t care what they intended, but I feel like it’s an apt comparison when talking about GRRM’s Dany.
(GRRM has spoken very highly of the Kennedys, saying on his livejournal: “They were men like any other, not plaster saints, and had their share of failures and mistakes. But they fought the good fight, and left the world a better place than they found it, and no more can be asked of any man.)
I see Dany as a dark horse in the race for the Iron Throne, similar to JFK’s unexpected win in 1960. More importantly, though, I see Daenerys as a reformer, as someone young and vibrant who wants to shake up the Old Guard and change the world.
And like, I’ve said this before, but Westeros is currently without justice, without peace, without the rule of law. It’s a place where the Lannisters can enact a dwarf genocide with no one to stop them. Where no one speaks for the smallfolk, where families’ ancestral homes can be seized and sacked, where murder goes unpunished, where a Mengele-esque mad scientist runs free.
And those are the kinds of things that Dany stands against:
“Justice . . . that's what kings are for." --Daenerys, ASOS
She values “peace, prosperity, and justice” while a lot of the people in charge of Westeros right now value vengeance. And sure, Dany obviously doesn’t always get these things right every time, and she makes mistakes, but she’s fighting to make the world a better place.
Daenerys cares about people. When most nobles in Westeros feel little or nothing for people of low birth, Dany raises the lowborn up and gives them a place at her side and on her councils. Think of Missandei, Grey Worm, her handmaids.
Dany’s outlook is more radical imo than Arya befriending prostitutes, or Stannis raising Davos to a lordship -- which are both good and admirable acts -- because Dany goes further. Dany wants to get rid of this whole system that grinds the lowborn to dust under the indifferent heel of the mighty. Just consider how GRRM wrote Dany’s attitude toward the tokar: “It was not a garment meant for any man who had to work. The tokar was a master’s garment, a sign of wealth and power. Dany had wanted to ban [it.]”
She wants to bring change. She wants to stop the abuse of power, and help people.
It’s as if Westeros and Essos both have already been under a Long Night of dehumanization, one created not by the Others, but simply by other people. And when Daenerys takes that torch from her bloodrider’s hand and lights the pyre that night in AGOT, she’s lighting the world on fire.
And it’s a good fire, my friends. It’s this kind of fire, the kind that gets passed around, and that makes your heart swell to see it:
It’s the kind of fire that rallies people to Daenerys like iron to a lodestone, and it’s what makes cynical people disparage Dany as a “Mary Sue” (whatever that is) when she gains followers. It’s the kind of fire that makes the Widow of the Waterfront dare to dream. It’s the kind of fire that gives Tyrion purpose and direction in the darkest depths of his depression. It’s a fire of hope: “...and for the first time in hundreds of years, the night came alive with the music of dragons.”
Daenerys was the first spark in the forging of a brighter world.
Light it up, girl.
(And while we’re talking about lighting fires, just FYI, I really fuckin’ hope Dany burns Randyll Tarly in TWOW, because he is a horrible person who represents everything that is wrong with the current Westerosi system. In GRRM’s early novel, Armageddon Rag, there is literally the prototype of Randyll Tarly, who GRRM describes on the page as a “fascist pig”. Burn him, Dany. And somebody necromance Tywin so she can burn him too, because only one death wasn’t enough for that bastard.)
.
So when I heard “Shall we begin?,” Kennedy’s words echoed in my mind. “Let us begin.” Let us have “a new world of law, where the strong are just and the weak secure and the peace preserved.”
“Why do the gods make kings and queens, if not to protect the ones who can't protect themselves?" --Daenerys, ASOS
“Peace is my desire.“ --Daenerys, ADWD
Kennedy considered “tyranny, poverty, disease, and war itself” to be the “common enemies of man” and it’s these things that Dany is fighting against. It’s this type of stuff that ASOIAF is all about imo. (It fascinates me to consider things like the pale mare in the context of this speech that GRRM grew up with.)
But unlike Kennedy’s, Dany’s words were a question. An invitation, the way ASOIAF is an invitation:
A Song of Ice and Fire [rubs] our faces in the reactionary brutality of its world, in the hope that we’ll see it more clearly, and fight it more fiercely, in the world we see when we look up again. [x]
I think I’ve said this before, but ASOIAF is the kind of work that requests audience participation. It doesn’t want you to remain passive. “Rage,” it commands, “rage against the dying of the light.”
So I loved those three little words. Dany looks straight at the camera, straight at us, and she asks us, “Shall we begin?”
“...let both sides join in creating a new endeavor, not a new balance of power, but a new world of law, where the strong are just and the weak secure and the peace preserved.”
A new endeavor. A new world of law. Not a new balance of power.
I said up above that Dany wants to get rid of this whole system that grinds the lowborn to dust under the indifferent heel of the mighty.
She doesn’t want simply a new balance of power. She wants a world of laws, of justice, of peace.
Did you agree with me when I said that stuff above, about book!Daenerys?
Because Dany says something similar in the show:
“Lannister, Baratheon, Stark, Tyrell, they’re all just spokes on a wheel. This one’s on top, then that one’s on top, and on and on it spins, crushing those on the ground. I’m not going to stop the wheel. I’m going to break the wheel.”
And, like, ok, this is not my favorite show quote, and I don’t like talking about the show, but people use this quote to condemn Dany (even book!Dany) for not wanting to create a democracy or a constitutional monarchy in Westeros (and no one demands a democracy of the other (male) contenders for the Iron Throne). (I have #receipts on this fandom, just send me an ask.)
Quoting from the book, “Mastering the Game of Thrones” by Battis and Johnston, it gives historical background and analysis to this wheel quote:
If Martin is the god of the text, he is not a benevolent deity seeking to punish evil, reward the good, or console his faithful readers. His characters’ lives are unpredictable, violent, and often brief, and beloved figures quickly fall from happiness and security to suffer betrayal, maiming, illness, and death. In the middle ages and Renaissance, such downfalls were often subscribed to Fortuna, whose wheel pulled men up to success and tossed them down again in failure. Fortune, like Providence, is a guiding force whose motion is inevitable. Her effects, however, were unpredictable; how quickly her wheel might turn or how high or low it threw those caught on it could not be foreseen. Unlike providence, Fortune does not seek to punish ill or reward good; her only motivation is movement, her only constant change itself.
In both the books and the show, Daenerys wants to punish wrongdoers and reward good. She wants justice. Justice is not compatible with this concept of Fortune’s Wheel, hence the “breaking the wheel” line on the show. The “wheel” speech is where she literally says on the show that she doesn’t want the little people crushed by the nobility’s political machinations. (It’s reminiscent of Varys’s line, “Why is it always the innocents who suffer most, when you high lords play your game of thrones?”)
Dany doesn’t want people to live merely at the whim of a tyrannical ruler. That’s no way for people to live, always uncertain whether or not they have the royal favor of the person currently at the top of the “wheel”, like when Cersei throws Falyse to Qyburn, who experiments on Falyse and murders her.
Or like when Cersei approves of people bringing her the heads of people with dwarfism.
Or when the Tyrells, while clawing their way to the top, throw Sansa and Tyrion under the bus.
These are the types of things that Dany wants to stop (“break”), because life is not a zero-sum game, no matter how much Cersei would like us all to believe that “you win or you die” is the way the world works. Absolutist views like Cersei’s, where you’re either on top of the world or crushed underneath it, leave no room for the kindness and compassion and love that GRRM advocates in every chapter. That’s why people like Cersei are wrong, and why Dany will cast her down in the books.
The entire time, books and show, the Dany I’ve seen and read wants to change how the world works, and create something bold and revolutionary.
“All this will not be finished in the first one hundred days. Nor will it be finished in the first one thousand days, nor in the life of this Administration, nor even perhaps in our lifetime on this planet. But let us begin.”
This was the other reason that Dany’s “Shall we begin?” jumped out at me, because I knew what came before JFK’s “let us begin” in his speech, and I knew what came after in 1963.
In all the GRRM books and stories I’ve read, he has this tendency to leave a lot of things unfinished. Not in the sense that TWOW is currently unfinished as of January 2018, but in the sense that ... the worlds he creates go on without us, and often without the characters we love. There are things left undone at the end GRRM’s stories.
Because, like, obviously I don’t know how ASOIAF is going to end, but I strongly believe that Dany sacrifices herself to save the world. (Like a president dying while serving his country?)
“All this will not be finished [...] But let us begin.”
For example, I get the sense that we’ll never see things all neatly wrapped up in Meereen, or see slavery completely gone from Essos. But Dany set it all in motion. Let us begin. She was the spark, and it’s now up to the people of Volantis, Lys, Myr, everywhere to fan the flames and keep them alive, even after Dany is gone.
I was saying this in another post, that there’s a Romanticism to Dany, and in a way that’s similar to the Romantic-capital-R fairy tale attached to Kennedy and the “Camelot Era”. I’m just gonna quote myself (and Steven again) cuz I liked what I said the first time:
[...] “Coming out of the tradition of chivalric romance - where the point was about the purity and intensity of longing *from afar* not its consummation, which threatened the social order and had to be punished with a tragic end - a lot of the classic romances are cases of “star-crossed” love”. Steven cites classic examples of Guinevere and Lancelot, Tritan and Isolde, and Romeo and Juliet. Dare I add Dany and Westeros? The intense longing from afar, the threats to the social order, what I suspect will be a tragic end?
[...] I believe Dany would give everything for the people of Westeros, for the people of the world, that she would forsake her heart’s desire, her lifelong goal … that she would tear out her own heart for Westeros, and not expect to get it back, if only to keep her people safe …
[post]
“...and it has been saved, but not for me.”
And after Dany dies -- if Dany dies -- it’ll be up to other people to pick up the pieces of Westeros and rebuild. But I don’t think Reconstruction is something we’ll ever see in Westeros. Like I said, GRRM tends to let his stories go on without us.
.
Dany reminds me of the heroes in the big fantasy stories: Frodo from LOTR, or King Arthur from The Once and Future King (who Jackie Kennedy was arguably trying to build JFK’s legacy around with the “Camelot” comparison -- and I believe GRRM was a T.H. White fan? But I don’t remember where I read that), etc. Anyways. The Fantasy Hero often leaves us in the end, and it becomes time to stand or fall on our own as we turn the last page.
But that’s what I think some of the best Fantasy stories are about: teaching us to stand. To hold.
“I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn’t. They kept going, because they were holding on to something. That there is some good in this world, and it's worth fighting for.“ --The Lord of the Rings movies
.
wow ok that was a long post, sorry. idk man. those three words just gave me a lot of feelings. I’m sorta afraid now what TWOW’s gonna do to me because I think it’s gonna be a lot longer than just three words
im not gonna go back up to the top and read over this mind dump so i hope that made sense.

rEEE writers inbound
hey there! i’m rhys. i am 22, live in the ct, and love ooc chatter! my ooc is pretty lax, but i promise my writing is a helluva lot more formal. i write in third person, past/present tense, and paragraph form. im not a rapid-fire writer, and won’t be able to constantly get replies in every day (i can get responses in anywhere between every couple of days to a week or two). however, i will ALWAYS put tlc into all of my posts and characters! i write anywhere between 300-900 words. it’s definitely alright if you don’t feel up to that amount at any given point, but i do appreciate keeping it somewhere in this range. im very wordy, and can spew out a novel if im excited enough lmao
my limits are pretty general; i will not do beastiality, pedophilia, vore, or scat. i can indulge in a variety of kinks, but if it’s a little much for any average person, i’m less likely to write it out (i.e extreme ddlg or adult babies, furries, extreme pet play, etc.) but i can be persuaded to lightly touch on certain kinks as long as they’re not 10000% filth lmao i cannot, and will not, do seme/uke or top/bottom dynamics. absolutely not. queer relationships shouldn’t be defined by whose taking the D. i dont want to interact with squeamish little femboys, or awful macho men with downright rapey tendencies. versatility is key, and power struggles are what i live for! i will, however, indulge in BDSM dynamics with certain plots— although, domination isn’t always about penetration, you know?
give me characters with aspirations, hopes and dreams, and crushing past experiences that flesh them out into who they are. no one is perfect, and we all have things that rear their ugly heads in the dark. problematic characters, male or female or anything in between, are everything. i love lgbtq+ characters, as i am part of the community myself, and will almost always be more inclined in writing queer characters. not to say i won’t write for strictly straight pairings, m/f, but usually i am iffy when approached with it if i am just meeting you.
i write for all genders, ethnicity, and orientations! you can find a few writings examples of mine here. i am pretty welcoming of most things. smut, of course. some kink a little out there that you want to suggest? let's do it, dude. i am super OOC friendly and i am pretty much a garbled mess when i get to know you! i’m a social person— i feel like a burden if you’re not into chatting with me, so please, if you’re not looking to be both a writing partner as well as a friend, i might not be the gal for you. i am open to crooked relationships, ones that don't function right, dark/morally corrupt characters, unconditional love, etc. my interests fluctuate! i am down, 24/7, guys! i only roleplay over email, but will ooc chat over discord or hangouts! here's a list of fandoms and pairings below that i am looking to write for atm. i do have many more, but these are just the ones off the top of my head!

Onto original plots!
——————
Office romances/BDSM/Friends with benefits-turned-lovers
okay, so, i had this type of roleplay with someone a while back. maybe more than two or three years back that i fell out of contact with and i could never really get it out of my head because it was probably one of the best character-building stories i’ve ever taken part of. :’) i don’t remember their name, but i do hope they’ll contact me again if they ever see this. while some of this may seem specific, none of it is concrete and i promise i am very easy to get along with and very accomodating! the plot i remember had three different relationships— completely different people, with different lives and different worlds, with only one common thing between them being that they work in the same building. we can do all three, or we can do a few, or even one! i dont mind.
**pairing A; M/F preferred (lol i know broke my own rule, but i adore femdoms! extra: please come with an open mind. this is not a 50 shades AU, and i do not want it to be.) this one is between a CEO and an intern in their senior year of college. The CEO is a femdom, and freshly out of divorce, takes a liking to the clumsy intern who’d spilled coffee on her more than once. The intern has never been in a relationship with an older woman, let alone one running a multi-million dollar company, but hey, isn’t that the dream for some broke twenty-something down on his luck? She introduces him to BDSM, and while he’s hesitant, the idea is as exciting as it is frightening. He accepts her offer— while it’s difficult at times, he begins to learn more about her. Her ex-spouse, her young child, and her unwillingness to develop a sincere relationship with him. She’s had subs before, and while she tells him he isn’t disposable, he begins to feel it was the truth. He grows to have feelings for her, and while she isn’t too keen on admitting it, the feeling is mutual. I’d love to explore their dynamic in and out of sex, and the conflict between the intern and her ex-spouse. I love age gaps, and think it would be awesome to see them develop over time to find common ground to establish a personal relationship and trying to even out their power imbalances. I don’t mind playing either the CEO or the intern, but I am leaning more towards the CEO. :V**
**pairing B; M/M preferred (this one is waaay more gritty and more dub-con than anything so please beware!) this one is between two higher-ups who have been butting heads for years— and occasionally, sexual tension neither have acted on. A is a snarky, openly gay man, and probably what some would consider shallow and noncommittal. B is a brooding, closeted ‘by the book’ type well into his thirties, and refuses to engage in anything sexual with men despite his obvious attraction; B has younger siblings he takes care of as well as his mother, and being the oldest son and only provider, hasn’t done a thing for himself in twenty years. A lives completely alone, complete with a bachelor pad and, the influx of flings that went nowhere past sex, and has risen to the top with his own sheer will. they have conflicting motives, and while both of them have an intense hatred for each other, they’ve never engaged in physical altercations in fear of losing their jobs. one day, A jabs a little below the belt, and finally, B starts swinging. this fight turns into something way more heavy in the company parking lot. what happens between them in the long run is something desperate, needy, and longing for real affection. it began as a mindless need for sex, angry and mean and formal, with B being especially unwilling to ‘give up’ his masculinity and ever be on the receiving end in fear of losing the control he needs to keep this up. i’d love to see them begin to see each other in a different light, and changing each other for the better. i’d also love to see A showing B that sex doesn’t have to be meaningless, and that he doesn’t need to fear letting A be in control. And B showing A that commitment isn’t as terrifying as it may be, with them gradually going from rivals, to friends with benefits, and eventually lovers. i, again, don’t mind writing for either! **
**pairing C; F/F preferred. (aaa this pairing is way more fluffy and sweet, with hurt/comfort as a stable of their dynamic.) this one is between two small-office employees in the company. A is fairly tame at work in order to support her sibling(s), of which she has adopted from her father’s custody years ago. she is fairly confident with her sexuality, and while not being the type to frequent clubs, is dragged along by a few friends and there, meets B. B is a young woman who just recently got out of a relationship with an abusive ex fiance— B has only ever been with that man, and was never confident in exploring her sexuality due to a religious upbringing and parents who were dead set on traditional values. she’s never strayed from her ex, and while he wasn’t faithful or remotely good to her in return, she was heartbroken with their split. months after, he returns to the city and B’s close friends decide to take her out on a girls’ night to make her feel better— B coincidently sees her ex, and feeling childish and unattractive, heads off to the bar to get a drink. she’s nowhere near a drinker, and just before she does drown her sorrows, is hit on by A. while initially shocked, B is flustered and finds herself immediately attracted to A. they have a one-night stand, and while B believes that A would just leave in the morning, A instead lays with her until she wakes up, and leaves her number. B is too anxious to text her. they bump into each other at the elevator that Monday. they agree to be just friends, until B knows what she wants. A is willing to wait. B might have a crush, and A is intent on building B up to love herself and her body. i would overall prefer to write for A, but if you’re dead set, no prob!**
Serial killer/1960’s/Small town sheriff
no preferred pairing! would love, love, love to see something between a serial killer and a small town sheriff in the mid-to-late sixties. we could make up a new little town, or find one to our liking! A is the sheriff who had been born and raised in this town with a good home life, loving parents, and a steady moral compass, albeit trapped in a loveless marriage. they know everyone, and every nook and cranny of the place like the back of their hand. this is the type of place where people don’t have to lock their doors at night, or constantly watch their kids when they’re out in the yard playing. that is, until people start going missing and horrifyingly mutilated bodies began to pop up around town. B is a well-liked baker in town; known to be genuinely friendly and kind, B has a very corrupt past. both of their parents were heinously abusive, and as a child, B developed sociopathic tendencies. B was inherently spiteful of the town and the people in it, for leaving them to rot in hell for eighteen years, and for never reaching out. B formed a god complex, his intentions to ‘purify the corrupt’. they keep tabs on almost everyone in town, and the victims they do take are put in the soundproof basement of his home to be ‘baptized’; tortured, beaten, and mutilated beyond recognition. A and B are friendly with each other as A comes to the bakery every morning, with B’s motives completely unbeknownst. one night, A, frustrated and pissed from the dead ends of the case of the decade, decides to head to the bar and relax. B is the one face A didn’t mind seeing that night, and one thing lead to another, with A and B in a dark alley getting each other off— i definitely see this as B grooming A to be a complicit pet, and when A gets closer and closer to figuring out who the killer is, he forms a deep connection with B. B develops a possessiveness over A, along with that sense of ownership he’d established between them. B manipulates A, coerces him into a false sense of security, and eventually— A finds out, and while B initially thinks to kill A, A is corrupted by B and forms some kind of stockholm syndrome for B. it’s up to A on whether or not they turn B in, or cover the killer’s tracks. B, despite his very sick and repulsive nature, develops a true infatuation for A, as close to love as they were ever going to get, and A is desperate enough to please B that they’ll do anything to not disappoint them.
Post apocalypse/decades later/immunity
no pairing preferred! the plot I had in mind is loosely based off of a video game called "The Last of Us", which i am sure most of you have a general knowledge of! (definitely check it out if you don’t :O it’s a great game!!) the prompt i was shooting for goes something like this; in a post-apocalyptic world where a pandemic has killed off most living species, character A is a lone wolf with little to do with other people that don't benefit him, except for a select few. A is especially rough around the edges, as he's lived through some sick shit and lived to tell the tale. A had once been part of a group dedicated to finding a cure, but things went south, and a lot of people died. A had a close bond with the leader of said group, and coincidentally they were the only survivors. their past together, having been deeply demented and twisted, caused them to fall out. said leader has rebuilt a new group in the ten years since the last time they'd seen A. character B is the only known immune person alive, and has dedicated their life to being a resource to finding a cure. A and his (current) contact/partner in crime have something taken from them, and are determined to get it back. they do some searching, and are confronted with this group-- they have what they need, but are only willing to give it to them for a favor in return. no one can outrun their past forever. so, this plot isn't concrete. things can be changed, we can do whatever we want, and i am happy to comply to any revisions or suggestions! i'd really enjoy taking on A, if that's alright!
TREASURE HUNTERS/ANCIENT CURSES/LOVE-HATE DYNAMICS/MODERN
treasure hunters!!!! yES!! think Uncharted or Tomb Raider. an architect/treasure hunter is being funded an expedition to find a lost treasure and they are forced to bring along a reporter in order to receive the funds. the reporter and architect certainly dont get along in the beginning— they bicker, and clash on most fronts. the expedition wasnt meant to be dangerous. what was initially thought to be a simple job turned into something treacherous; bandits, a team of hired hitmen and their leader looking to take the treasure for themselves, and some rather supernatural elements that they both couldnt quite put a finger on. the treasure hunter and the reporter have to work together to get out of this alive, and get to the artifact before someone else does. (the “treasure” is definitely up for debate!! we can chose a real life lost treasure, or just make one up!! it can be anywhere around the world, and everything is at our disposal).
DEMON/INHERITANCE/HUNTERS/MODERN
character A has an awful time living in the city— alone, and without mom's guidance, completely lost. one day they receive a call about a deceased relative, one they'd never heard of, one that apparently left their estate and everything in it in their will to A. with nothing but the clothes on their back, A took a shot in the dark and drove out to this presumed "estate" come early summer, only to find that it's a mansion in a tiny little town with an eerie vibe and populated by the typical small town churchgoers and farm folk. living in this town was a hell of a challenge; everyone was nice, too nice, and people started to go missing. character B is an exceptionally charismatic, charming person and the only mechanic/handyman in town. A and B become friends, partially, when A needs to fix up the piping in their estate. A stumbles upon the attic one day, and for once, they start to get why this whole town reeked to the roots in weird shit-- their deceased relative was tracking something here in this town, having to do with all of the MIA townsfolk. DR has a board of possible suspects, and at the center? B. A shrugs it off as their relative having been paranoid, but the longer A stays in this town, the more apparent it becomes that DR wasnt crazy. B is, in fact, not the murderer, instead a supernatural being (open for debate! im on the fence with demons, vampires, etc.) on a mission to track down the monster, same as DR. i am so down for internal struggles, sweet gestures, and overall, two people just trying to make it work! i could also see A being hella paranoid that B is the monster, and maybe tries to throw cloves of garlic at them only to realize thats not exactly how this monster hunter business works lmao
DEPRESSED WRITER/YOUNG MUSE/between 1920’s-1960’s/sex, drugs, & the american dream
m/m preferred! A is a severely depressed middle-aged man believing his life has been wasted. his wife left him with their child at her hip, his career was in a rut, and he had nothing left to live for. opting for suicide, he goes out one evening to purchase a bottle of gin to down with a handful of prescription sleeping pills when he returned to his apartment. instead of going directly home, he’s swept in by the music in an underground club for queers. there he meets B; all encompassing, angel faced, and the only person A didn’t know how to look away from. B is a former US Navy Seal, aspiring musician, and avid indulger of the human body— A stays a little too long, owlish and red, and after the show, B approaches him with a cattish smile. they spark a friendship, and A is thrown down the rabbit hole when B introduces him to his social circle, filled to the brim with drag queens, junkies, queers, and the overall unusual— he integrates into this community, his contemplation of suicide only a distant memory, and begins to find himself extremely attracted to B. he lights a fire in A, something dangerous and unquenchable, and A finds himself drawn in by the unpredictability. A embarks with B on a journey of self exploration, passion, and inevitable love in a world that scorned the oddities of human attraction and anyone who dared to be free.
