Star Wars vid recs
Someone on my twitter feed had asked for some vid recs for Star Wars and I thought I’d share some of my faves over here.
Desperado by fightingarrival Sequel trilogy. Poe/Finn/Rey. The Force Awakens + Rihanna + fightingarrival’s editing = the best thing you will ever see. The VIBES of this vid are incredible and editing will knock your socks off. There’s this transition of the two stormtroopers pulling Poe over to Kylo Ren and it transitions right into a tie fighter—and the shape of the tie fighter matches the way the troopers are holding Poe. Finn reaching for Rey on “not leaving me behind” — THIS VID IS SO GOOD. I have probably rewatched it 1,000,000 times since it debuted at ConTxt in 2018.
Jailbreak by @absolutedestiny. Original trilogy. The criminal hijinks and shenanigans of our rebel scum. This vid is so much FUN and full of the amazing trouble our favorites got into in the trilogy. The editing is so sharp and the lyrics are fabulous.
99 Problems by John Jay. Live action and animated series and films. Obi-Wan has 99 problems and honestly Anakin is all of them but FFFFFFUUUUCK the way these clips land on the beats!!!! I’ve seen this vid being reblogged all over tumblr but I gotta rec a million times because it is so good. This uses all the live action and animated Star Wars source to AMAZING EFFECT, holy fuck twirl those Light sabers on the beat!!
Sk8er Boi by @ohvienna. Sequel trilogy. Kylo/Rey. This vid is hilarious and perfect and YES this is the Avril Lavigne song. Just trust me on this. You’ll see this and only be able to think of Kylo when you hear the song afterwards. You’re Gonna Go Far, Kid by @rhoboat77. The Mandalorian and Grogu. This vid is a romp and delight and Rho’s pacing throughout the song will keep you captivated with squee and love for these two.
Terrible/Beautiful by @cherryberrynice. Rogue One vid featuring Chirrut/Baze and Cassian/Jyn. Cherry always has amazing song choices for her vids and this AWOLNATION song for these two and this movie is outstanding. Her editing remains absolutely kinetic and visceral and it’s impossible for me not to adore this. The BEATS IN THIS!! The action sequences!! The tension in this vid is so good.
9 to 5 by eruthros. Lego Star Wars featuring the clone troopers!!!! Honestly you won’t find a cuter Star Wars vid than this.
Last of the Real Ones by @starlady38. Star Wars Rebels, Ezra Bridger and Kanan Jarrus. This is the found family of my soul and I will always cry during the final episode of the show as well as this vid. These two learned so much about what it meant to become a Jedi and how to be there for each other. My heart is so full when I rewatch this vid. PLUS it’s Fall Out Boy! Amazing combination and amazing editing and so, so lovely.
In Your Head by Darth Porg. This is the Bad Wolves cover of Zombie used to DEVASTATING EFFECT for the clone troopers. Like this vid goes so fucking hard that my soul is fucking shattered. I’ve never recovered from this vid or anything about the clone troopers.
The Light by destina. This is an Anakin/Darth Vader characters study to Adam Lambert’s music, omg. It’s dancey, it’s deadly, it’s damn fucking good. The rage, the yearning, and power of Anakin in this vid is crystal clear with Adam Lambert’s vocals, holy fuck.
One Girl Revolution by bessyboo. Padme and Leia vid!! Warning for bright lights, fast cuts + stuttery/"flicker" cuts. This iconic song for two iconic women. Perfect combination is perfect with amazing parallels and badassery from both mother and daughter.
Somewhere Only We Know by trekkiebeth. Rogue One vid featuring Cassian/Jyn. The wariness and yearning of these characters works remarkably with this cover by Darren Criss. I progressively get more choked up as the vid progresses. So lovely. Standing in the Way of Control by @trelkez. This vid uses footage from all the films and TV shows to highlight our heroes standing up to fascism. It isn’t pretty, it isn’t easy and they get knocked down so many times but the tension and hope in this vid—despite facing death and genocide—is really outstanding.
Home by @collsssss. The Mandolorian and Grogu. This is the sweetest most endearing look at Din Djarin doing his best for Grogu and AHHHH the song just makes my heart swell with warm fuzzies. This vid is so, so lovelyyyyy.
And here’s my Star Wars vids (so far):
Me, Me, Me, a Star Wars Rebels vid featuring Chopper. Just a little indie rock song for my favorite Star Wars droid.
What We Live For, a Star Wars sequel trilogy OT3 vid of fluffiness and adventure. Baby you’re my open road, you can take me anywhere the wind blows, right into the great unknown. We can throw up our hands out the window, this is what we live for. All my Rey/Finn/Poe feelings right here.
One Foot, Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order. This game was AMAZING and Cal Ketis got me right in the feels. If you liked Star Wars Rebels, you definitely should look up the game or at least the cut scenes from the game because his journey is amazing and I of course had to vid it. The ‘finding yourself/found family’ themes in this game are A++++ and what you will find in this vid of mine.

Transcription of text in images:
images 1-3: screenshots of text from Ilan Pappé’s “The ethnic cleansing of Palestine. Text reads:
On 9 April 1948, Jewish forces occupied the village of Deir Yassin. It lay on a hill west of Jerusalem, eight hundred metres above sea level and close to the Jewish neighbourhood of Givat Shaul. The old village school serves today as a mental hospital for the western Jewish neighbourhood that expanded over the destroyed village.
[…]
As they burst into the village, the Jewish soldiers sprayed the houses with machine-gun fire, killing many of the inhabitants. The remaining villagers were then gathered in one place and murdered in cold blood, their bodies abused while a number of the women were raped and then killed."
Fahim Zaydan, who was twelve years old at the time, recalled how he saw his family murdered in front of his eyes:
They took us out one after the other; shot an old man and when one of his daughters cried, she was shot too. Then they called my brother Muhammad, and shot him in front us, and when my mother yelled, bending over him - carrying my little sister Hudra in her hands, still breastfeeding her - they shot her too."
Zaydan himself was shot, too, while standing in a row of children the Jewish soldiers had lined up against a wall, which they had then sprayed with bullets, 'just for the fun of it', before they left. He was lucky to survive his wounds.
[…]
One only has to be told that thirty babies were among the slaughtered in Deir Yassin to understand why the whole 'quantitative' exercise - which the Israelis repeated as recently as April 2002 in the massacre in lenin - is insignificant. At the time, the Jewish leadership proudly announced a high number of victims so as to make Deir Yassin the epicentre of the catastrophe - a warning to all Palestinians that a similar fate awaited them if they refused to abandon their homes and take flight.

Associated Press. Jerusalem
Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir, recalling his days as a guerrilla commander, said yesterday that Jews were justified in using terrorism to win statehood but that Palestinians are not.
"Personal terrorism is a way of fighting that is acceptable under certain conditions and by certain movements,” said Shamir.
The Jews, stateless and persecuted, had no choice, he said. But the Palestinians are "fighting for land that is not theirs. This is the land of the people of Israel."
Shamir was interviewed by army radio on the 50th anniversary of the founding of Lehi, the underground group in which Shamir fought British rule in Palestine in- [column cuts off]

Herzl approached Britain because, he said, it was "the first to recognize the need for colonial expansion." According to him, "the idea of Zionism, which is a colonial idea, should be easily and quickly understood in England." In 1902 Herzl approached Cecil Rhodes, who had recently colonized the territory of the Shona people as Rho-desia. "You are being invited to help make history," he said in a letter to Rhodes. "It doesn't involve Africa, but a piece of Asia Minor; not Englishmen, but Jews. How, then, do I happen to turn to you since this is an out-of-the-way matter for you? How indeed? Because it is something colonial."
Image 7:
Early Conflicted Relations between the Jewish Colonists and Palestinians
There quickly developed in Palestine the usual kind of colonial relations seen in European colonies in Asia, Africa, and America, namely, contempt for and exploitation of the poorer and less organized native population.
According to Morris, the Zionist settlers referred to Palestinians as "mules" and behaved "like lord and masters, some apparently resorting to the whip at the slightest provocation . . . a major source of Arab animosity." The settlers seemed to believe that the only language that the Palestinians understood was force—the settlers "behave towards the [Palestinian] Arabs with hostility and cruelty, trespass unjustly upon their boundaries, beat them without reason an even brag about it,” wrote Achad Ha'am in 1891. He noted in 1893 that "the attitudes of the colonists to their tenants and their families is exactly the same as towards their animals." He warned: We are accustomed to believing, outside Israel, that the Arabs are all desert savages, a people like donkeys, and that they neither see nor understand what is happening around them. But that is a great mistake.
Image 8: photo of text in a book, presumably explaining the structure to follow. Text reads:
[text begins] - strength, why would Israel's existence as a Jewish state be so objectionable to Palestinians? Unlike today's slick apologists, the early Zionists were refreshingly honest about the reality of their mission, as we will see more of in Part I.
[paragraph circled for emphasis] Ze'ev Jabotinsky was one of the foremost Zionist leaders and theoreticians, a man who has more streets in Israel named in his honour than any other historical figure.' In perhaps his most famous essay written in 1923, Jabotinsky was clear about one thing: 'Zionist colonization, even the most restricted, must either be terminated or carried out in defiance of the will of the native population'. Why? Simply put, history shows that 'every indigenous people will resist alien settlers'. [end emphasis]
This book has been written in order to describe clearly and simply what Zionism has meant for the Palestinians, how Israeli apartheid has been implemented and maintained, and suggestions for how it can be resisted. In this task, I am indebted to the many academics, writers and journalists who have researched, documented and witnessed the unfolding of Israeli apartheid in Palestine.
Part I begins with a concise history of the development of Zionist settlement and theory, particularly with how it related to the Palestinians. There is then a summary of the key historical events of the Nakba, the Palestinian Catastrophe of 1948, when the aim of a Jewish state in Palestine was realised.
Part II will clearly define the main areas of Israeli apartheid and the contradictions of a so-called 'Jewish democratic' state. Dispersed through Parts I and II will be small 'stand alone boxes with personal stories of how individual Palestinians are affected by a given aspect of Israeli apartheid.
Part III is the section in which ways to resist Israeli apartheid are discussed, with details of existing initiatives that should— [text cuts off]
Image 9:
A voluntary reconciliation with the Arabs is out of the question either now or in the future. If you wish to colonize a land in which people are already living, you must provide a garrison for the land, or find some rich man or benefactor who will provide a garrison on your behalf. Or else—or else, give up your colonization, for without an armed force which will render physically impossible any attempt to destroy or prevent this colonization, colonization is impossible, not difficult, not dangerous, but IMPOSSIBLE! Zionism is a colonization adventure and therefore it stands or falls by the question of armed force. It is important ... to speak Hebrew, but, unfortunately, it is even more important to be able to shoot—or else I am through with playing at colonizing.
Zionist colonization must either be terminated or carried out against the wishes of the native population. This colonization can, therefore, be continued and make progress only under the protection of a power independent of the native population—an iron wall, which will be in a position to resist the pressure to the native population. This is our policy towards the Arabs.
—The Iron Wall, Vladimir Jabotinsky, 1923
Images 10 and 11:
All Natives Resist Colonists
There is no justification for such a belief. It may be that some individual Arabs take bribes. But that does not mean that the Arab people of Palestine as a whole will sell that fervent patriotism that they guard so jealously, and which even the Papuans will never sell. Every native population in the world resists colonists as long as it has the slightest hope of being able to rid itself of the danger of being colonised.
That is what the Arabs in Palestine are doing, and what they will persist in doing as long as there remains a solitary spark of hope that they will be able to prevent the transformation of "Palestine" into the "Land of Israel."
Arabs Not Fools
This is equally true of the Arabs. Our Peace-mongers are trying to persuade us that the Arabs are either fools, whom we can deceive by masking our real aims, or that they are corrupt and can be bribed to abandon to us their claim to priority in Palestine , in return for cultural and economic advantages. I repudiate this conception of the Palestinian Arabs. Culturally they are five hundred years behind us, they have neither our endurance nor our determination; but they are just as good psychologists as we are, and their minds have been sharpened like ours by centuries of fine-spun logomachy. We may tell them whatever we like about the innocence of our aims, watering them down and sweetening them with honeyed words to make them palatable, but they know what we want, as well as we know what they do not want. They feel at least the same instinctive jealous love of Palestine, as the old Aztecs felt for ancient Mexico, and the Sioux for their rolling Prairies.
Image 12:
Vladimir Jabotinksy is the father of political Zionism, the Zionism that prevailed and led to ethnically cleansing the Arabs of Palestine in sufficient numbers to create a majority-Jewish State of Israel. In the 1920s Jabotinsky was busy publishing about the "justice" of this atrocious plan, arguing with fellow Zionists who wanted to co-exist peaceably with the indigenous Arab population. Jabotinsky was writing material such as this about the Zionists who did not want to simply take the land from the Arabs:
Let us consider for a moment the point of view of those to whom this seems immoral. We shall trace the root of the evil to this - that we are seeking to colonise a country against the wishes of its population, in other words, by force. Everything else that is undesirable grows out of this root with axiomatic inevitability. What then is to be done?
The simplest way out would be to look for a different country [other than Palestine] to colonise. Like Uganda. But if we look more closely into the matter we shall find that the same evil exists there, too. Uganda also has a native population, which consciously or unconsciously as in every other instance in history, will resist the coming of the colonisers.
[...]
Yet if homeless Jewry demands Palestine for itself it is "immoral" because it does not suit the native population. Such morality may be accepted among cannibals, but not in a civilised world....
Image 13:
“We must do everything to insure they (the Palestinians) never do return ... The old will die and the young will forget.”
—from his diary, July 18, 1948. Ben-Gurion: the Armed Prophet, by Michael Bar Zohar
“If I were an Arab leader, I would never sign an agreement with Israel. It is normal; we have taken their country. It is true God promised it to us, but how could that interest them? Our God is not theirs. There has been anti-Semitism, the Nazis, Hitler, Auschwitz, but was that their fault? They see but one thing: we have come and we have stolen their country. Why would they accept that?”
—quoted by Nahum Goldmann in Le Paradoxe Juif (The Jewish Paradox)
‘We walked outside, Ben-Gurion accompanying us. Alton repeated his question, "What is to be done with the Palestinian population?" Ben-Gurion waved his hand in a gesture which said "Drive them out:" ‘
—Yitzhak Rabin, leaked censored version of Rabin memoirs, published in The New York Times, October 23, 1979
Image 14:
Ben-Gurion absolved himself of blame, calling the attack on Deir Yassin the work of "dissidents." Begin, however, crowed over the "splendid act of conquest." He wrote his commanders, "Tell the soldiers: you have made history in Israel with your attack and your conquest. Continue thus until victory. As in Deir Yassin, so everywhere, we will attack and smite the enemy. God, God, Thou has chosen us for conquest."

Dangerous Water: Chapter One
Chapter One: The Parting
Next Masterpost
Summery: Rhoma goes to live with her uncle on a floating town in the middle of the ocean. Some questions arise on the way.
Warnings: None that I can think of besides her mom leaving and crying?? (send an ask if you need me to tag anything)
“Mom please don’t go,” I begged tears streaming down as I watched as my luggage was loaded onto the boat. I may only be 7 but I know that this would probably be the last time I ever saw my mom again.
”Oh my sweet, darling Rho,” her voice was sweet like honey and was a melody I never wanted to end, ”I’m sorry that this is where we part, but Uncle Henry will take good care of you, I promise.” A tall man, one that I recognized as the man in question, approached.
“I’d hate to cut this moment short, but if we are to leave we have to leave now,” his voice was smooth like my mom’s but gruff in comparison.
“Why can’t we leave in the morning! There’s no way we can see, It’s pitch black!” I exclaimed I knew my uncle could easily navigate through the night but I wasn’t ready to leave my mom. At this point, I was sobbing, clinging to her as if my life depended on it, tears threatening to spill out of her eyes as well.
”Rho, I’m sorry but I have to go now, plus you will need the night to hide Gemma,” Gemma, my phoenix chirped at the sound of their name.
Several minutes had passed. I sniffed as I wiped the tears from my face, “Okay Mama I’m ready to go.” We hugged one last time before she left the mist consuming her figure as Uncle Henry and I watched her leave.
“Let’s get to the boat, Rosebud,” he offered his hand which I looked at for a second before he spoke again, “I’ll answer all your questions on the way there, how’s that sound,” he said clearly seeing the gears in my brain turn. I Finally took his hand, “You have a deal,” I let out.
About 5 minutes had passed as I sat in silence, well aside from the occasional coo-ing from Gemma. Speaking of Gemma, “Why do I have to keep her a secret?” I said nodding in the direction of Gemma’s little cage, I felt bad for her, she had to be cooped up in there for so long.
“Well the people there, how do I put this nicely, they aren’t the most opened-minded people out there,” he remarked. It was hard not to hear the obvious grimace in his voice.
“Soooooooo,” I hesitated, “What does that mean for me?”
“Well I’ll have some stuff to figure out, for now just don’t go tellin anyone you’re multi-blooded, I wouldn’t even mention the Soulful part and you’d be dead if you mentioned that you’re a siren.”
“Mer,” I said matter-of-factly.
“I beg your pardon?”
“I’m a mer, sirens are winged creatures, plus there’s only three of them. Not to mention that they’re on an island somewhere in the Mediterranean. I’m a Mer, sure some of us sing but not to lure sailors into the water, the sirens do though. Even though it’s not a very good reason,” I mumbled the last part under my breath.
“Oh and what would that reason be,” Uncle Henry prompted.
I took the bait, “Well, they used to be the handmaids of Persephone and were tasked, by Demeter, to help in the search for her daughter. These three were being a bit lousy I guess and so Demeter cursed them. Now, they lure sailors to their deaths in spite of Hades beca-”
I cut myself off and slapped a hand over my mouth, “Sorry, my dad used to say I can talk peoples’ ears off when I get like that.”
I was so embarrassed, I had done it again. My embarrassment was only met with a chuckle, leaving me very confused. Seeing my confusion my Uncle explained, “Rhoma Ezra Kingsley, never apologize for being passionate about something, you hear me.”
I nodded slowly lighting up at the aspect of being able to express my incoherent thoughts without being told I talked too much for a girl.
My uncle chuckled one last time before getting serious again, “We should probably get back on topic.”
“Yeah…………” I reluctantly agreed even though I still had plenty of questions that needed to be answered. “Mama said that I would work as a medic?” it was much more of a statement than a question, but I could tell my uncle caught on.
“Yes, that’s the only reason they’re allowing you to come live with me.”
“And is swimming out of the question?” I winced not even hearing the answer.
“I think we can work something out, but we have to be very careful,”
“Why?”
“You’re in dangerous waters now,” he said right as the boat pulled into the boat lot of the floating town, the lantern giving his face just enough light to make out the basic features. The fog made everything seem ominous and I was soaking up every bit of it, stubborn as ever.
‘Well then I’ll just have to be the danger in the water’ I thought as we started towards my new home. I was determined not to let my new situation control me.

This morning, Kady thought breaking up with Ezra was the hardest thing she’d have to do. This afternoon, her planet was invaded. The year is 2575, and two rival megacorporations are at war over a planet that’s little more than an ice-covered speck at the edge of the universe. Too bad nobody thought to warn the people living on it. With enemy fire raining down on them, Kady and Ezra—who are barely even talking to each other—are forced to fight their way onto an evacuating fleet, with an enemy warship in hot pursuit. But their problems are just getting started. A deadly plague has broken out and is mutating, with terrifying results; the fleet's AI, which should be protecting them, may actually be their enemy; and nobody in charge will say what’s really going on. As Kady hacks into a tangled web of data to find the truth, it's clear only one person can help her bring it all to light: the ex-boyfriend she swore she'd never speak to again. BRIEFING NOTE: Told through a fascinating dossier of hacked documents—including emails, schematics, military files, IMs, medical reports, interviews, and more—Illuminae is the first book in a heart-stopping, high-octane trilogy about lives interrupted, the price of truth, and the courage of everyday heroes.

THE FIRST BOOK OF ESDRAS OR EZRA - From The Douay-Rheims Bible - Latin Vulgate
Chapter 9
INTRODUCTION.
This Book taketh its name from the writer, who was a holy priest and doctor of the law. He is called by the Hebrews Ezra, (Ch.) and was son, (T.) or rather, unless he lived above 150 years, a descendant of Saraias. 4 K. xxv. 18. It is thought that he returned first with Zorobabel; and again, at the head of other captives, in the seventh year of Artaxerxes Longimanus, with ample authority. Esdras spent the latter part of his life in exhorting the people, and in explaining to them the law of God. He appeared with great dignity at the dedication of the walls of Jerusalem. 2 Esd. xii. 26. 35. We have four books which bear his name. C. --- This and the following book of Nehemias, originally made but one in Heb. (S. Jerom, &c.) as the transactions of both those great men are recorded. The third and fourth are not in Heb. nor received into the canon of the Holy Scriptures, though the Greek Church hold the third as canonical, and place it first; (W.) and Genebrard would assert that both ought to be received, as they were by several Fathers. But they contain many thing which appear to be erroneous, and have been rejected by others of great authority, and particularly by S. Jerom. The third book seems to have been written very early, by some Hellenist Jew, who was desirous of embellishing the history of Zorobabel; and the fourth was probably composed by some person of the same nation, who had been converted to Christianity, before the end of the second century; and who injudiciously attempted to convert his brethren, by assuming the name of a man who was so much respected. Many things have been falsely attributed to Esdras, on the same account. It is said that he invented the Masora; restored the Scriptures, which had been lost; fixed the canon of twenty-two books; substituted the Chaldaic characters instead of the ancient Hebrew, Samaritan, or Phœnician. But though Esdras might sanction the latter, now become common, the characters might vary insensibly, (Bianconi. Kennicott, Dis. ii.) as those of other languages have done, (H.) and the sacred books never perished wholly; nor could the canon be determined in the time of Esdras. C. --- As for the Masoretic observations and points, they are too modern an invention. Elias Levita, Capel. Houbigant, &c. --- What we know more positively of Esdras, is, (W.) that he was empowered by Artaxerxes to bring back the Jews, and that he acted with great zeal. H. --- This book contains the transactions of 82 years, till A. 3550. The letter of Reum, and the king's answer, (C. iv. 7. till C. vi. 19. and well as C. vii. 12, 27.) are in Chaldee; the rest of the work is in Hebrew. C. --- We may discover various mysteries concealed under the literal sense of this and the following book. S. Jer. ep. ad Paulin. W. --- Esdras is supposed by this holy doctor, as well as by some of the Rabbins, &c. to have been the same person with the prophet Malachy; (Button) and several reasons seems to support this conjecture, though it must still remain very uncertain. C. --- Some think that (H.) Esdras wrote only the four last chapters, and the author of Paral. the six preceding ones. D. --- But it is most probable that he compiled both from authentic documents. H. --- Some few additions may have been inserted since, by divine authority. 2 Esd. xii. 11, 22. T.
The additional Notes in this Edition of the New Testament will be marked with the letter A. Such as are taken from various Interpreters and Commentators, will be marked as in the Old Testament. B. Bristow, C. Calmet, Ch. Challoner, D. Du Hamel, E. Estius, J. Jansenius, M. Menochius, Po. Polus, P. Pastorini, T. Tirinus, V. Bible de Vence, W. Worthington, Wi. Witham. — The names of other authors, who may be occasionally consulted, will be given at full length.
Verses are in English and Latin. HAYDOCK CATHOLIC BIBLE COMMENTARY
This Catholic commentary on the Old Testament, following the Douay-Rheims Bible text, was originally compiled by Catholic priest and biblical scholar Rev. George Leo Haydock (1774-1849). This transcription is based on Haydock's notes as they appear in the 1859 edition of Haydock's Catholic Family Bible and Commentary printed by Edward Dunigan and Brother, New York, New York.

Chapter 9
Esdras mourneth for the transgression of the people: his confession and prayer.
[1] And after these things were accomplished, the princes came to me, saying: The people of Israel, and the priests and Levites have not separated themselves from the people of the lands, and from their abominations, namely, of the Chanaanites, and the Hethites, and the Pherezites, and the Jebusites, and the Ammonites, and the Moabites, and the Egyptians, and the Amorrhites.
[2] For they have taken of their daughters for themselves and for their sons, and they have mingled the holy seed with the people of the lands. And the hand of the princes and magistrates hath been first in this transgression.
tulerunt enim de filiabus eorum sibi et filiis suis, et commiscuerunt semen sanctum cum populis terrarum : manus etiam principum et magistratuum fuit in transgressione hac prima.
[3] And when I had heard this word, I rent my mantle and my coat, and plucked off the hairs of my head and my beard, and I sat down mourning.
Cumque audissem sermonem istum, scidi pallium meum et tunicam, et evelli capillos capitis mei et barbae, et sedi moerens.
[4] And there were assembled to me all that feared the God of Israel, because of the transgression of those that were come from the captivity, and I sat sorrowful, until the evening sacrifice.
Convenerunt autem ad me omnes, qui timebant verbum Dei Israel, pro transgressione eorum qui de captivitate venerant, et ego sedebam tristis usque ad sacrificium vespertinum :
[5] And at the evening sacrifice I rose up from my affliction, and having rent my mantle and my garment, I fell upon my knees, and spread out my hands to the Lord my God,
et in sacrificio vespertino, surrexi de afflictione mea, et scisso pallio et tunica, curvavi genua mea, et expandi manus meas ad Dominum Deum meum.
[6] And said: My God I am confounded and ashamed to lift up my face to thee: for our iniquities are multiplied over our heads, and our sins are grown up even unto heaven,
Et dixi : Deus meus, confundor et erubesco levare faciem meam ad te : quoniam iniquitates nostrae multiplicatae sunt super caput nostrum, et delicta nostra creverunt usque ad caelum,
[7] From the days of our fathers: and we ourselves also have sinned grievously unto this day, and for our iniquities we and our kings, and our priests have been delivered into the hands of the kings of the lands, and to the sword, and to captivity, and to spoil, and to confusion of face, as it is at this day.
[8] And now as a little, and for a moment has our prayer been made before the Lord our God, to leave us a remnant, and give us a pin in his holy place, and that our God would enlighten our eyes, and would give us a little life in our bondage.
[9] For we are bondmen, and in our bondage our God hath not forsaken us, but hath extended mercy upon us before the king of the Persians, to give us life, and to set up the house of our God, and rebuild the desolations thereof, and to give us a fence in Juda and Jerusalem.
[10] And now, O our God, what shall we say after this? for we have forsaken thy commandments,
Et nunc quid dicemus, Deus noster, post haec? Quia dereliquimus mandata tua,
[11] Which thou hast commanded by the hand of thy servants the prophets, saying: The land which you go to possess, is an unclean land, according to the uncleanness of the people, and of other lands, with their abominations, who have filled it from mouth to mouth with their filth.
[12] Now therefore give not your daughters to their sons, and take not their daughters for your sons, and seek not their peace, nor their prosperity forever: that you may be strengthened, and may eat the good things of the land, and may have your children your heirs for ever.
[13] And after all that is come upon us, for our most wicked deeds, and our great sin, seeing that thou our God hast saved us from our iniquity, and hast given us a deliverance as at this day,
Et post omnia quae venerunt super nos in operibus nostris pessimis, et in delicto nostro magno, quia tu, Deus noster, liberasti nos de iniquitate nostra, et dedisti nobis salutem sicut est hodie,
[14] That we should not turn away, nor break thy commandments, nor join in marriage with the people of these abominations. Art thou angry with us unto utter destruction, not to leave us a remnant to be saved?
ut non converteremur, et irrita faceremus mandata tua, neque matrimonia jungeremus cum populis abominationum istarum. Numquid iratus es nobis usque ad consummationem ne dimitteres nobis reliquias ad salutem?
[15] O Lord God of Israel, thou art just: for we remain yet to be saved as at this day. Behold we are before thee in our sin, for there can be no standing before thee in this matter.
Domine Deus Israel, justus es tu : quoniam derelicti sumus, qui salvaremur sicut die hac. Ecce coram te sumus in delicto nostro : non enim stari potest coram te super hoc.
Commentary:
Ver. 1. Abominations, or sins, (M.) marrying with infidels, contrary to the law. Ex. xxxiv. 15. Deut. vii. 3. D. --- Malachy (ii. 11.) reprehends this conduct, and threatens both rulers and people who tolerate it, with God's indignation. W.
Ver. 2. First. Or "was in this first transgression," incurred by those who returned with Zorobabel; or "was concerned in this very heinous transgression;" in transgressione hac prima. C. --- Prot. "hath been chief." 3 Esd. "and the leaders and grandees partook in this illegal affair, from its commencement." Sept. "and the hand of the chiefs was in this transgress, in the beginning." This would greatly increase the difficulty of reformation. Some of the princes were however ready to undertake the work, and had preserved themselves from the two general contagion. H. --- All marriages with the Moabites, &c. were prohibited, if the women remained infidels. Ex. xxxiv. T.
Ver. 3. Coat, (tunicam) or inner garment. H. --- Mourning. Heb. "astonished." Syr. Mont. C. Prot. --- Sept. "alone." 3 Esd. "pensive and in grief." H. --- Arab. "not uttering a word." See Job i. 20. and ii. 8. This was the ordinary posture of people in sorrow. Isai. iii. 26. C.
Ver. 4. To me, in the court of the temple. C. x. 1. M. --- Sacrifice, which was offered last of all, about sun-set. Ex. xxix. 38. The Jews commonly protract their fasts till the stars appear. Leo, p. 3, art. 8.
Ver. 7. At this day. Notwithstanding the favourable decrees of Cyrus, &c. the greatest part of the people continued in captivity, being dispersed, some into Egypt, others into distant countries, beyond the Euphrates. C.
Ver. 8. As a. Prot. "for a little space, grace hath been shewed from the Lord," (H.) and yet we are again irritating Him! C. --- A pin, or nail, here signifies a small settlement or holding; which Esdras begs for, to preserve even a part of the people, who, by their great iniquity, had incurred the anger of God. Ch. --- Allusion is made to the pins which fasten down a tent, (Isai. xxxiii. 20. and liv. 2.) or hinder a ship from being carried from the shore, (Tigur. M.) on which utensils are hung up, (Tournemine) referring to the magistrates, who were now of the same country. T. Isai. xxii. 21. Delrio, adag. 218. --- Sept. "a support." Heb. yathed, denotes also a walking-stick, nail, &c. M. --- Eyes, fill us with joy, in perfect security. --- Little life, free us from danger. C. --- Esdras is afraid to ask for the impunity of all, but only begs that a small part may be spared, like a nail or post from a house, which may serve to rebuild it. W.
Ver. 9. Fence. Heb. gader, "the name which the Carthaginians" gave to Cadiz, "as it signifies a fence," or an inclosure. Pliny xxii. C. --- Some Latin MSS. read spem, "hope." Lyran. --- The Tig. version understands the wall of Jerusalem, built in a hurry. M. --- But this was not perfected, (H.) if begun, till the time of Nehemias. 2 Esd. i. 3. C. --- God gave his protection to the people, (H. Delrio, adag. 219.) by the king of Persia. T.
Ver. 11. Mouth, like a vessel brim-full. M. --- Prot. "from one end ot the other." H.
Ver. 12. Peace. Alliance, (M.) or advantage. See Ps. cxxi. 8. Moses had thus proscribed the Moabites, &c. as he had done the people of Chanaan still more severely. The Israelites were to execute God's decrees. Deut. xxiii. 6. C. --- The obstinate idolaters were to be exterminated.
Ver. 13. Saved us. Prot. "hast punished us less than our iniquities deserve and hast given us such deliverance as this." Sept. "hast made our transgressions light," (H.) not weighing them with rigid severity. C.
Ver. 14. That. Heb. "should we again break, &c...Wouldst thou not be angry?" &c.
Ver. 15. To be saved from our iniquities, which are still upon us. H. - We confess that, if we should be treated according to our deserts, we could expect no redress. But we trust in thy mercies, which have hitherto supported and brought us back from slavery. C.

styx- thank u anon!! u picked Rhoma Ezra Kingsley! she’s one of my first ocs that i made a fleshed out story for! she’s a mix between a mer and what i called a soulful (a being who is incredibly in tune w nature and given an animal companion). Rho’s animal companion is a phoenix named Gemma.
She was raised by her uncle starting at age 7 and they’ve been really close. Rho is a medic for both mers and humans as there’s a “war” between them. she does have to keep the fact that she isn’t a human a secret tho. Rho is greyromantic and asexual.
and here’s ur drawing of her!

Thirteen Rising by Romina Russell Chapter: Thirty
Summary: The group enters Leo's atmosphere, veiled. The plan is for Hysan to keep Equinox aloft while the rest pile into the two bullet ships they took from Aries. Ezra, Gyzer and Rho take one while Nishi, Skarlet, and Mathias take the other. Pandora is the designated survivor in case their plan fails. Plan B is the Zodai fleet that followed them. They have exactly 45 minutes to fulfill their plan or they risk their over being blown. Rho, Gyzer, and Ezra successfully get in, but the encounter Blaze, who reveals that they are leaving that night. With some tact and fake sympathy, Rho gets away from him and they head to Ophiuchus's cell. Rho accuses him of lying to her and then realizes through their argument that Ophiuchus still believes that Aquarius can be saved. Finally, Rho convinces him to leave with them but on the condition that they find his Star Stone so he can destroy it in order to destroy himself. Ophiuchus leads them to the Reading Room and that's where they find it, nestled in Aquarius's hand. Reaction: Well, this sucks. Prediction: I think their cover will be blown and their plan will fail.
Tomorrow's chapter: Thirty-one

Dangerous Water: Masterpost
Hello!! So, here’s the summery for my story.
‘Dangerous Waters’ is a story about a young girl named Rhoma Ezra Kingsley. Rho is a multi-blood, in this lore, being multi-blood means that you are a mix of multiple ‘creatures’. In Rho’s case, she is a mix of a Mer and what’s called a Soulful. Soulfuls are like humans but with a deep connection to nature. When Rho was 7 years old her mom had to leave for unknown reasons, now, she lives in a floating town in the middle of the ocean (not an island, they just built a town in the middle of the ocean) with her Uncle Henry. She befriends the Mayor's son, Dax. Everything seems to be going smoothly, well as smoothly as things can go when there is a war between the Mers and Humans, not to mention your two best friends are on the front lines of the opposing sides. One day the secret that her life depends upon is almost revealed and consequences may be dire. Will Rho be able to keep her secret? Maybe, I dunno, if I told you guys there wouldn’t be a story to write. So let’s find out!!
Feel free to send in asks if you have questions about the lore of the story!!
Chapters:
ChapterOne, ChapterTwo, ChapterThree, ChapterFour, ChapterFive, ChapterSix, other chapters coming soon!!
