The Odyssey: Funny Moments

Most of you liked my "The Iliad: Funny Moments" post, so I decided to make this one as well.

1. When Telemachus asks Odysseus what kind of help they have for taking down the suitors, Odysseus basically says, "We've got Zeus and Athena on our side. Are you sure that'll be enough?"

2. "Brother, who blinded you?" "Nobody! Nobody did!" "...Then we're going to go back to sleep."

Taken to the logical extreme in a comic book adaptation where Odysseus and his men gave him fake names:

"Brother, who blinded you?"

"Nobody! Idontknow! Idontcare! Or maybe... Idontremember!"

"So that's why they called him Polyfool."

3. After his crew opened the bag of winds thinking it had treasure and caused a huge storm, Odysseus briefly considers suicide as valid as an option to preserving through hardship.

4. The sheer, mind-boggling, testicle-shriveling amount of crap that Odysseus and his crew get put through when trying to get back to Ithaca can be viewed as hilarious in a cringe comedy kind of way. By the time Odysseus gets home and realizes that his wife has been badgered and harangued by suitors for a decade one could be forgiven for thinking that his wanton slaughter of them all was less about their violation of guest rights and more just blowing off some steam on a morally unambiguous target.

5. When briefly visiting the Underworld, Persephone allows Odysseus to talk with his mother and other dead people. Odysseus is absolutely terrified of her and dreads staying too long and incurring her wrath, running back to his ship fearful that she'll sic Medusa's head on him.

6. One of Odysseus's crew randomly dies by falling off a roof after a night of heavy drinking. Everyone else gets to be killed by horrible monsters and the wrath of the gods, but he instead gets to be a posthumous reminder about the dangers of alcoholism. Even better, after his death he berates Odysseus for not burying him properly when our hero goes to Hades!

7. On the way back to Ithaca, Telemachus asks a favor of Nestor's son Pisistratus, and proceeds to invoke two generations of friendship to get some help dodging Nestor's aggressive hospitality.

8. Penelope asks a disguised Odysseus to interpret a dream she had. It turns out that during the dream, one of its characters explicitly explained what it all represented, and Odysseus just repeats it back to her.

9. While disguised as a human, Athena goes to the trouble of giving a plausible explanation for her departure... then promptly blows her cover by turning into a bird and flying away in front of a boggling Nestor and Telemachus.

10. Penelope's tricks against the suitors, of which the two best known are:

At one point, she told the suitors she'd choose her next husband after she'd finish weaving a burial shroud for Odysseus's father Laërtes... And every night, she'd undo her work. She strung them along for three years and would have continued had an unfaithful maid not exposed her.

On page we see her daring them to replicate one of Odysseus's feats: she put twelve axes on the ground so that the rings in the handle would align and gave them Odysseus' unstrung bow and arrows, and told them that whoever could use that bow toshoot an arrow through all the rings would be her next husband.She also forgot to tell them it was a recurve bow that the suitors wouldn't even recognize when at rest, let alone string.

A lesser-known ploy is when she calls out the suitors for freeloading off her husband's estate instead of courting her with lavish gifts. They rush to present her with gifts, while the disguised Odysseus watches with delight.

11. Athena's response when Odysseus fails to recognize her in disguise and tells her a backstory he came up with on the spot is essentially "That's my liar! There he is!"

Good afternoon everyone! It is time once again for another update post. Are you excited? I hope so. Sorry for dropping it so late, I forgot to download my files and. Yeah. So there’s not much here, other than the once’s I needed. Oopsie.

I’d like to open this post by introducing my new collaborator, @bat-luun He has been helping me a TON with the backgrounds, and is a complete life saver, as well as an extremely talented artist. I’m so happy to have him, both as a friend and as an artist. He has done the Bonus Content banner for the post, when it goes up tomorrow. Go show him some love!!

On a somewhat related note, we now have a twitter account for the project! I personally have not used twitter in heaven knows how long, so I’m realering the ropes haha. The @ is jcklproject, in case you want to give it a follow there.

Before I get into the juicy details, I’d like to thank you all for your patience with me, and request that you hang on just a liiiitle longer. I am participating in the Sonic Big Bang, which I have just entered crunch time in. The project is SIGNIFICANTLY longer than I anticipated, and I have until the 25th to get it done. I am working hard on it, and if it comes to it, I may have to put this project on a little bit of a hold to finish it. Only until the 25th, though, and I will still be working on it! Keep an eye open on my main account for the project in June, when all of the works go up. I’m very excited, and while its not jackal related, I think it will be a ton of fun ;)

For a fic prompt, I’d love to read something about Pete being sick or hurt and needing care that isn’t related to aftercare post-sex. I’ve found a fair few fics centered on Vegas dealing with being sick and cared for (and Pete basically bullying Vegas into letting him care for Vegas), but haven’t found nearly as many focused on Pete in a non-sexual context. I think that would be interesting and lends itself to your style of writing (at least from what I’ve read of your writing, which is just the VegasPete posted on AO3). I love your work, btw! Hello, my dear anon! Thank you so, so much for your kind words and your gorgeous prompt ❤️ Generally, Vegas taking care of Pete is one of my favorite concepts. We got crumbs in the show, crumbs, and I desperately need more of that. Thank you for giving me the incentive to do it myself, though I have dipped my toes into it a little bit before with the things you can(not) change, which had Vegas taking care of Pete emotionally. Btw, I'm very sorry for being late in replying to this, but I had a bit of trouble coming up with an idea for it until I got hit with some very specific feels, and now here I am, with 5 whole ass pages of words that made me decide to turn this concept into a proper fic. Looking forward to posting it in 2025 lmao. Here's a part of it: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Pete woke up laying on his bed, with no recollection of how he got there. The last thing he remembered was going to the kitchen for some water and the noise coming out of Macau's room. It was probably because of that new game he bought last week that he wanted to play so much. His whining suggested he wasn't very good at it. Pete didn't know what happened after that. He was feeling disoriented, floaty. His head was throbbing. There was bile stuck at the back of his throat, which he couldn't swallow. His mouth was dry. His body was heavy, restricting his movements. He tried opening his eyes, but he got dizzy by the light coming in from outside. He closed them again. "Why didn't you tell me you were sick?" Fuck. When did Vegas come back? Where was Macau? Pete took in a shallow breath, trying to quiet down his heartbeat. He didn't open his eyes. Vegas sounded angry. He had to calm him down, somehow. "Vegas..." "Macau called me in a panic, because he found you unconscious in the kitchen. He thought you died. I did too, when I saw you."

Vegas was holding back tears, Pete could tell; there was a certain way his voice hitched when he spoke like that, vulnerability leaking from his tongue. He sounded small, too, like when he used to do comparisons that led him nowhere. Pete didn't like it when Vegas was talking like that. The fact that he reverted to that state because of him made it even worse. "I'm sorry." "Don't-" He didn't conclude what he was going to say. Pete could hear sniffing, but nothing else. Not looking at Vegas' face was killing him. He opened his eyes with extreme difficulty and found Vegas staring at him, with red smeared across the edges of his own eyes and sweat gathered on his forehead. He was too far away. He wasn't touching him. "Vegas," Pete said, lifting his arm in Vegas' direction, despite how much he couldn't. Vegas widened his eyes and dropped his gaze. He held back a sob. He didn't take Pete's hand. "You look the same as back then." Pete let his arm fall on the bed, stunned by Vegas' words. How could he be so stupid? He completely forgot. He didn't know why. Maybe because everything that had happened at the safehouse had always seemed like a weird dream to him, one that he never really woke up from. Pete didn't have any words of comfort to give. His stomach started acting funny. He hoped it wouldn't lead to vomiting. He hadn't done that since his adolescent days, which had been filled with boxing and violence. "It's not your fault I'm sick," was all he could offer in the end. "I should have been here, taking care of you-" "You had an important meeting with Porsche," Pete reminded him. "Fuck Porsche." He had thought about it once. How it would feel to have sex with Porsche. Pete imagined it'd be simple. Uncomplicated. Fun, even. Now, it sounded painful, more so than all the things Vegas did to him. Perhaps Vegas was right getting concerned about Pete's health after all. He felt a hand touching his forehead. It was cold and sweaty. Pete wished it could get glued there. "Shit, your fever is high. Have you eaten anything?" "No." He felt Vegas suck in a breath, before he heard it. "I'm cooking you something to eat." He tried to get up, but Pete caught him before he could escape. A low, whining sound scratched his sore throat. "Sleep with me. You look tired." "Pete," Vegas warned. "You're burning up and you need to eat." "Just for a little while. It'll help." Vegas sighed. The sound came out unsteady. His bottom lip quivered, or Pete thought it did. His vision was too blurry to be sure. "Fine, but you're taking something for the fever first." Pete smiled tiredly at him. He didn't thank him. He would hate that.

So in like novel writing circles (the ones I jerk in at least) the advice is to just cut the "boring" stuff as much as possible if you can't make it ya know not the boring bit- even if you just fill it with fun character interactions or something- BUT obviously webcomics are a different medium and one known for its ability to go on very long times and (at its best at least) use that sorta allowance to explore a lot of a world etc etc, so after seeing your posts about people maybe not liking the AGS "boring bits" (note: I've never particularly felt AGS had them if only on the basis of like filling it with fun character stuff etc) what you think about that in terms of structure and pacing and such in webcomics

its a relief to hear that people arent bored stiff by a comic that started out as a "monster of the week" type and has drastically changed into slice of life with criminal conspiracy or whatever it is now. it has a point, i swear. it took me some time to see it forming in the ingredients i laid out but i see it clearly now

the slow drip-line nature of webcomics is what makes the medium truly uniquely exhilarating and also uniquely frustrating lol. most webcomics update a single page at a time, right? and you have to keep in mind while making your longform story-driven webcomic that you're juggling entertaining two different readers: the archival reader and the per-update reader. these readers are, by the nature of the medium, going to have wildly different experiences with the text. what is quick and breezy for the archival reader can be prolonged torture for the per-update one. the per-update reader might have been waiting to finally pay off for literal years, building a type of tension that the archival reader will never be able to experience themselves.

a comic a week is a breakneck speed for people doing all the lifting themselves, but only ("only") equals out to 52 pages a year. i do 2 a week so for me its approx 104 and its been 10 irl years to get to this point in the story. i also make my money "per page" because i think i should only be paid for work i actually do. so each individual page has a literal dollar amount attached to it that hovers over my head like the axe i mentioned earlier. it is extremely hard to try to make every page "worth" what people pay for it, knowing how precious money is when times are tough. and also just, you know, because people going out of their way to click on my page should see something worth seeing.

i spend more time with these pages than anyone so i get sick of looking at and thinking about them long before anyone else even sees them. one problem ive noticed is that i will come up with what i think is a funny joke and by the time the page is done, its not funny anymore and i struggle to imagine other people laughing at it. then i think "i dont want to read this, why would anyone want to read this. this sucks."

recently i had to re-read my own old pages, something i dread having to do, and was dismayed by how it read in the archival sense. in my attempt to make every page "worth reading/making" every page ended with a punchline and developed a monotonous rhythm i've been trying and failing to get out of. iambic pentameter ass comic.

remember during my MTMTE retrospective when I said I wasn't gonna reread its sister series (aka Robots in Disguise/The Transformers/Optimus Prime/Windblade/Till all are One/etc)

I lied, I reread the entire thing lmfAO (or most of it anyway, I did skip a lot of the crossover stuff)

I did write down a lot of notes, basically a pseudo-liveblog if you will of my experience rereading all this, but I actively decided not to post it for two reasons

reason 1: a lot of the damage the tf fandom did to me in the mid 2010s was the direct result of people being extremely aggressive with their opinions on how characters were written (Starscream, Prowl, and Megatron were the big ones, with Optimus not far behind them) and at the time, I just either kept my thoughts to myself or parroted what the most popular and vindictive people in the fandom were saying so I wouldn't get attacked lmAO

so the main purpose of rereading this entire comic was for me to form my own opinions on the characters and plot and feel whatever I want about them without the fear that someone will come after me for having the wrong opinions and feelings. I wanted my thoughts to be mine and to find out and fully understand why I think them.

and reason 2: I do not like most of this series lmfAOgfbhdsjkd I like the Windblade and Wreckers stuff, and for everything else, I think it's got plenty of interesting ideas but they are sprinkled too sparingly between large swaths of stuff I did not enjoy reading and I felt no need to make pages and pages of posts of me groaning and grumbling about things I don't like. My blog doesn't need that vibe, y'all's dashboards don't need that vibe, people trying to use the search function and tags to look for fan works of the series don't need that vibe, I got my feelings out in my own little contained space and there was just no good reason for me to be putting that energy out there.

Especially since this comic is about twice as long as MTMTE/Lost Light so there would be so many more posts than I made for my MTMTE retrospective and just fghjdsksd nah dude nobody needs that. also if I'm trying to not get attacked, making a million posts about not liking something fairly popular ain't the way to go about that lmfAO

Today I am about to finish my 3rd journal and move onto my 4th and I felt like going back and looking through my past journals. I had two original journals from like 2018-24, writing in them both about different things, one mostly about Guz and selfshippy stuff I wanted to look back and see, and the other mostly about my art goals and dreams and… manifestation stuff. Eventually I kinda meshed the two together. I didn't become as INTO journaling as I am now until this past summer, in August 2024… thanks to Sabo tbh?

Ok, so… when the Sabo feels hit, it was extremely sudden and unexpected. I may have mentioned it here before but the feels happened for me because of a dream (on my Guzmaversary..). I've never had that happen to me before. It was so quick and sudden and along with these new feels I had new ideas for my sona in OP… and I needed to yap. And I didn't know who to talk to or how to talk about it… so I wrote in those two journals. First the selfshippy one and that quickly filled up and then moved onto the the next dream one (which felt suitable since this all stemmed from a dream lol).

I was just exploding with new ideas and inspiration, out of nowhere. I was writing about all my new ideas and stuff for like a solid two weeks. It was such a magical time haha… I have always loved the feeling of writing by hand so when I was done with my brain dumps I just wanted to continue writing about my thoughts during the day, whatever, whenever… good, bad, goals, dreams, quotes I liked, etc. Not every thought, but anything I just wanted to write about. Even my silly boys and my OC’s and story stuff. It sort of became a new obsession of mine? And it just makes me feel good.

For many years I'd buy notebooks just to have them, because they're so cute but never use them because I never knew what to put in them. I've always loved writing and wanted to save them for special things. Everything had to have a perfect purpose, like how I used those two notebooks for two different topics… writing in pretty colorful ink… thinking every word carefully and making it nice to look at. But it is so much better and therapeutic for me to have an all in one place to explode all over the page and see my thoughts so raw and unfiltered, so real. I found out I really REALLY love journaling that way this past summer thanks to that huge brain dump moment and I'm so happy I have such an amazing purpose for all my unused journals now, to continue to document my life this way.

But ANYWAY, so today, when looking back on my old dreams journal before I wrote in it like a normal journal… I found a really funny dream I COMPLETELY forgot about lol. February 2024 I wrote I dreamed about a twitter post (ngl I hate that I have so many SocMed dreams oTL) by the official Pokemon account just posting a picture of Sabo, no text. And all the comments were so funny and confused like “??? SABO ONE PIECE?” “SABO CONFIRMED” “POKEMON WHAT DOES THIS MEAN” “OMG GALAR CONFIRMED”

I JUST THINK ITS SO FUNNY, I was laughing and kicking my feet when I just found this, this was MONTHS before my Sabo feels, and usually I'd ignore the dumb SocMed dreams like those but the fact I was dreaming about Sabo before *THE* dream is so crazy… I NEVER thought about him in that way before *THE* dream. And the fact it was so out of the blue… and I have written proof of it… shdfgjhj this is what journaling is all about for me now HAHAHAHA.

But the fact it was also so out of the blue then too its like… he always in my subconscious somehow… how and why did he get in there. The whole thing with Sabo coming into my life last year was really whacky tbh, he has really made himself so special to me. Like HE really chose to be. HE sought me out, he wanted to be in my life… and so he is! He's already brought so much new joy and creativity into my life I'm so happy and grateful for him haha <33

she's quite beloved and a pretty consistent feature but she doesn't get a ton of solo stuff 😔✌ but theyre reprinting her comic from 2010 next year woohoo happy 60th bitch

they forgot to really give her a power ceiling and her magic can pretty much do anything she can think of, so she's a consistent pain in DC's neck whenever she has to intersect with other characters and Big Serious Plots—but it's not like they can just leave her on the shelf entirely either

(i think powerscaling is fake & that "who would win a fight between x and y" is a fake question that depends on so much more than hard numbers, especially in a medium like comics. but i also think DC itself quite visibly feels a pressure to manage her + i think this quirk about her is extremely funny and i LOVE to see them try so hard to nerf their pesky magician)

in 2004 they made her part of a The Gang Commits Atrocities plot without really justifying Why she would do all that, and her next several years are Fascinating to watch as writers try to come up with various ways to make new sense of her character in light of it. until the whole dc comics continuity was wiped and relaunched in 2011, solving the problem by erasing the whole thing from canon (along with everything else)

the real crime of that whole incident? the '04 comic that started it wasn't even very good

she's listed on the DC Wiki category page for "Eldritch Blast"

Oh, I agree with you. I don't think he's evil. But unfortunately, that doesn't erase how the writers, and a section of the fans, treated him. Maybe they were a vocal minority, but if so they were extremely vocal. Here's the breakdown:

The writers: I've explained at length how the writers screwed over Toffee. They change his motives from petty to deep depending on who they're talking to, they ignore all the mystery boxes they created regarding him, and if there's any way they want us to feel about his pointless, horrible death, it's either relief or a dull sadness that the magic wasn't destroyed right then. Not horror or righteous indignation. He isn't explicitly a tragic victim, he's barely even mentioned after, and never in a way that implies Star should feel guilty for murdering him. Explicitly, he's a faceless obstacle to be knocked over by Star after she levels up, and it's totally fine she literally melted him, it's fine! We shouldn't question the morality of our white savior protagonist, it's fine!

But the big one, and the one you were likely referring to, is the fandom. And when I made that analysis, I do admit to one cop-out: the fandom isn't like that now. Nowadays it's mostly dead, with the odd stubborn holdout (like me) posting in the tag now and then. A lot of us are Toffee fans, still posting because we liked the potential the show had and so we're imagining him as a character and not the plot equivalent of a bowling pin. But Back In The Day, when the show was still running, people celebrated Toffee's death. It was so cool that Star Vs. had the guts to graphically murder a character onscreen! Star was so cool, and here you thought this show was for kids! Her butterfly form is so cool! Never mind that there's a reason other shows don't do this, and that's because it sends a horrible message. Star should've taken a page out of Steven's book honestly.

But surely after the shock of this super cool and edgy death wore out, people started to see the tragedy inherent in Toffee's character? Nope! I mean, there were some popular analysis posts and such, but the fandom mostly forgot about Toffee, along with the writers. And while we were forgetting about that, Morningmark happened. I've talked about him before, but he's always been both a good barometer for the fandom's opinion of a character as well as a shaper of it. When he rarely goes against the fandom's majority opinion, the fandom seems to bend over backwards to make his headcanon everyone's headcanon. Even when it involves dubious characterization. I have already talked about why Morningmark is overrated, but... he just does not get Toffee, even after the show ended with Toffee kind of acknowledged as being right, even after the fandom slowly began to die. In his urge to make everything haha funny he just made it really flat and made Toffee stupid, boring, and evul, and since his comics were the only thing getting notes in the quickly-dying fandom, it made it very annoying to be a fan of depth and tragedy in svtfoe. Then he stopped making svtfoe comics and moved to making Belos stupid and other The Owl House-related crimes, and at least I don't have to worry about his dreadful takes on Toffee anymore, so that's great. 

And from there it was a short hop to the fandom we have today, where only people who got something important out of svtfoe still make content. Now, and only now, do we have the majority thinking Toffee's story, or at least what we saw of it, was the best thing to come out of svtfoe. 

Also, yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if Mina killed Comet and blamed Toffee. That would be a much better twist than the whole Moon bs.

Normal update, autumn??? XXIII

Okay, so I thought it would be a nice, winter quarterly update but turns out the last one was titled summer and I guess going by calendar, winter barely started so it's??? autumn??? I guess??? Last day of the year but autumn, sure, let's go with that. That being the case, I have no new year's pic for y'all cause I can't draw I was devving uhh, rly hard, let's say. Totally.

Anyway, the mushroom jam has ended and I planned to have a release update BUT THEN I DIDN'T FINISH THE GAME ON TIME YET AGAIN, who would've thought, so, like, there's nothing. I mean, something exists but yeah >_> I'll write a devlog when it finally looks presentable. Moving on...

Current game stuff

The spooktober game has been finished, kinda - The enmity of dead things. It, well, it works and it contains the full script and everything but lacks both art and music cause I couldn't finish it on time laziness goes brrr. Then I wanted a break and worked on other games and kinda left it like that... So that's the first item on my "Finally finish it in 2024, you stupid fuck" list. All in all it wasn't a total failure and I had fun for the most part. Committing to my bad decisions [look at the textbox] is actually the main cause the game wasn't finished on time... You live and don't learn.

The failure of the year... Or quarter at least - Mushroom game. Despite being technically published to add it to the jam, it's so unfinished I won't even link it here. And it's all my fault cause I was being lazy and, as usual, forgot I can't actually program. Yeah...

Helped with Cool Days. There's really not much of my work there, I honestly considered making a new category for games I kinda helped with but tbh the amount of work actually finished was close to zero but hey, it's still more than nothing so Check it out, it has cool graphics.

The ace teens game got shelved/postponed and it's not my fault this time but instead we're working on a fantasy kinda thing for Ace jam [and maybe also Zack jam while we're at it but that might've been said in jest]. Fortunately it's small enough I don't expect any delays. I can say it involves a golem who isn't a humanoid (灬˘╰╯˘灬)♥｡･ﾟ

IMPOSTOR SYNDROME - is a game for winter jam which also happens to be a demo cause we ran out of time but! - it will be finished soon-ish. I'll share more details in the release devlog so if the link to the game works already, that means the page's up and so is all the info. If it doesn't work, check again in a few hours but I'm assuming most people who actually read all that will do so post winter jam anyway.

Genre wise it's an otome chat sim comedy that's extremely self indulged and I'm not ashamed of that. Gotta make games for yourself and all that. Though, again, my own conribution to the development process remains minimal. I'm truly becoming the idea guy.

Umm, yeah, everything. Or, to be more specific, Mushroom game and Enmity take priority here but all the other games that needed some quality of life adjustments like making the web build work on mobile etc are also included [which is kinda funny cause a lot of them could be corrected in like an hour if I actually sat and did just that].

It's been more than three years since I released Argousze and yes, you gessed it, it's also unfinished. Which is extra funny in a pathetic way cause it was supposed to be a low effort game with, like, 2k words of wordcount. To be fair I kinda dropped it cause I couldn't design my aliens but maybe I'll actually get a good idea for once and manage to release it on its fourth anniversary. That'd be nice.

Other than that, well... That's more of a resolution than anything but I should stop constantly joining new teams and all... And either take a proper dev break or work on ye olde projects waiting for me since the beginning of HS. I'll become older than my oldest LI before I finish them at this point lol

This year we're gonna have two new jams instead of one. Stuff happened and yeah. No links just yet cause not only are the pages not finished but there's also no planned date/duration beyond 'sometime in the later part of the year'.

The first jam is Tentacle jam which, I'm pretty sure, would bring us eroges. This was not my intention and all kind of sfw tentacles are allowed but tbh as long as there's a proper story, even a nukige would pass. Basically the rules remain like in all the previous jams I hosted.

The second jam is Insect [adjacent] jam which actually accepts all kinds of arthropods but it started as just insect jam and I wanted to keep the name. So yeah. Obviously more detailed rules of what's allowed would be written on the page when it's up properly and not in a half dead state like right now.

Incidentally, whatever the date ends up being, both of these jams would be hosted at the same time so if you wanted to make a story taking place underwater or something, you could submit it to both of these jams. Neat, right?

LMAOOO characterization is important to me i take it v seriously and i try to stick as close to canon as possible hence the ln + wiki combo!! i think that’s why people consistently comment abt how my characterization is super different but also really close to canon and exactly how they’d picture those characters acting in certain scenarios (gotten a lot of people saying that abt how i wrote nagi sae kaiser hiori and gojo especially) 🤩 i think another reason why it might seem like i’m able to characterize well is because i rlly prioritize trying to show romance and love in ways other than physicality and i customize that to what i understand of a given character!! so w kaiser it was trusting the mc and trying to give her up before he hurt her, w sae it was him continuously finding ways to spend time w reader, etc etc ☝🏻 which maybe makes it feel more natural even when i’m not in love or super comfy w a given character ig??? idk though

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I do my best, but not everything. Recently I've been trying to do every other chapter of a fic, but I'm having a harder time responding to one-shots recently. I used to respond to everything, comments on ao3 were literally and I mean this genuinely, my only interaction outside of my family for years. I got really close with some of the commenters. Lately, I've been much, much, much worse mentally, so i do what I can.

6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

uhhh, i'm a cross between Five Out of Five is an Ideal You Can't Have - where Loki is still extremely upset with Thor and Thor Did Not Get the Point or End of File, where Thor goes at Mobius with a knife. Oh and I guess there's the whole XXO Mom series, part #2 ends suuuuper angsty.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

idk, i generally try to end on an upward note with everything. Happiest ending is like...probably Stygian? Oh, and Empirical is also pretty upbeat.

8. Do you get hate on your fic?

lmao. When do I not get it? Every couple of weeks at least. Once I got told on a fic that had nothing to do with religion that I was "forcing Christian values" onto everyone because I said in my bio i was Christian and I was ??? for a few days about that. People complain about the writing, they complain about me, they complain about fics not getting updated, they complain about oocness (somehow wrote me like, a 10 page paper on a fic once about how ooc thor was and honestly I commend them because that takes some effort), I get hate all the time and it's very exhausting. Champion hater is probably the anon that sent me a very nasty ask about what a terrible writer I was and how I deserved any trouble I got with publishing when I was trying to express how frustrating it was that the publishing industry is structured rigidly. (I still think that it should be middle grade, teen (12-18) and then YA should be 18-22, THEN adult, because 18-22 is a wild, awful experience that deserves to be it's own genre) Anyway, that anon made me cry for like 2 hours, so. I commend him. 10/10 bullying.

9. Do you write smut?

No. no plans to. writing sex is really meh to me. I admire people who can, I just...do not care about sex scenes lol. I understand they play a part in stories I'm just like "let's...leave it implied if I must and then. not write it."

10. Do you write crossovers?

nope! I'm not opposed to them, I just don't really have any ideas. I did have a multi-fic crossover planned between Supernatural and MCU but I lost interest after writing part 1, there was something else. Like I really wanted to write that fic. idk, i'd have to look at my plans.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Ugh. Yes. People post them on different websites without my permission all the time, someone once made a podcast about one of my fics where they completely obliterated it and that was absolutely humiliating. (They did think I was like 25 though, when at the time I was 16, so that at least was funny) Outside of fics, my sister stole major plot points/character things from my original series to add to her book and I'm still really, really frustrated about that.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Yep, loads. My goal is to get good enough at Russian and Spanish to translate some fics myself.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic?

Twice that I know of, but idk. Maybe one more after that? It was a looooong time ago, though.

14. What‘s your all-time favourite ship?

Clintasha. And if not that, then one of my ships for my original series.

15. What’s the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Honestly, probably the Loki series rewrite I started. I have the entire thing mapped out I just do not care as much as I did when I started the concept of it.

16. What’s your writing strengths?

Mental illness, vivid imagery, trauma. I'm good at sucking you into the character's head and then punching you in the stomach for it. I also know how to plot and plan and that's very helpful.

17. What’s your writing weaknesses?

Endings and beginnings. I'm terrible at both of them. I dread them with my whole heart. I'm also, I've discovered recently, really bad at setting up characters the way I want. Also sometimes I back myself into terrible corners and have no idea how to fix it.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I have done this in several fics, I think it's kind of a nice nod to people who speak the language cause they get an extra layer for the fic. I don't hate it being in the fic, I can live without it. I do think that the fic has to survive without translations or you've failed because I would never look up a translation myself when I'm reading it the first time and I know it's the same way with a lot of poeple.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

How to Train Your Dragon. I was 12. That account is still up (I was harassed off of it by some very dedicated guests) I refuse to delete fics, even the most embarrassing ones. Literally the first thing I ever finished writing period is posted there.

20. Favourite fic you’ve ever written?

Oh that's a hard one because I do generally really enjoy my fics and can take some pride in them but right now, Scar Tissue or You Screamed for So Long We Forgot to Care Anymore. I love writing Scar Tissue, it's been such a blast and it's so good to explore other characters outside of MCU, i feel like I'm stretching new writing muscles and it's good. I also loved the community that I had when posting YSFSLWFTCA. It was just...genuinely one of my fics of all time. But anything with Peter and Tony is just so much fun for me, too.

I try my best, but sometimes I forget, and then it's been weeks and months since I got the comments that I'm embarrassed to reply them after so long. Even though, I think it's important that a writer let the reader/commenter that they appreciate it, even if it's with a simple "thank you" or an emoji. I know I'm being a hypocrite here since I fail to do what I preach, but it doesn't make it less true.

6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I think that would be Drifting, because it's kind of open ending, left to be interpreted, so it could end however the reader wants. Although, I left an author's note at the end saying what's my preferred ending, which always will be inclined to the happy side.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

High Above the Ground because is the happy ending i want for Commander Fox and Riyo Chuchi. They deserve only the best!

8. Do you get hate on your fic?

No, not really. I've gotten only 1 stupid message of someone criticizing a fic, but that was years ago when I still posted on FF dot net. The joke was on the reader because I moderated all the comments there so I just deleted it and nobody saw it but me. Honestly, I just laughed about it cuz their argument was just stupid.

9. Do you write smut?

I do, all kinds -from the most tame thing to the most perverted. But I used to wrote way more in my old fandoms, especially for Arrow. I think for Star Wars I've written just 1 or 2 smutty fics, and tamed at that.

10. Do you write crossovers?

I've tried a couple of occasions but never finished them. I'm not opposed to them obviously, but I do think the combination of fandoms has to be just right to work. Or at least, when it's me doing the writing.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Yes! Many, many years ago in the first fandom I ever wrote for. It was awful and hated it! You see, this was in the stone age of the internet when fandom specific sites abounded and not everyone had an account on FFnet yet (and Ao3 was not even a dream). The site I published on was split in 2 sections because the ships war in the fandom was bloody and ruthless, so to avoid the slaughter, I kept myself in my preferred side. But one day, a friend who read fic on both sides told me that someone stole my fics. Avoiding to get caught, the person who did it published them under a pen name that was almost exact to mine, she only added a period at the end, which could easily go unnoticed. Oh, and she interchanged characters names so it'd fit the other ship.

At first, my friend thought I had posted them but she knew I'd never write for that ship, like ever. In the end, it turned out that I wasn't the only one who had being plagiarized. Several people ON BOTH SIDES were. Thankfully, the person was caught and banned, but we almost burned the site down because of the whole shitshow.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

By me, yes, several. All into Spanish (my mother tongue). By others, not that I know of.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic?

Yes! A couple of times for different fandoms, and I loved it. I hope I'll do it again. The thing is that you need to find the right partner for it, or it can be a nightmare.

I don't appreciate this question, let me tell you. It's hard to choose. But I think I have to go with Olicity. I love them still (even if the show ending ruined it for me). Close second would be Braime (and I'm glad that there's still hope for them on the books, because as usual the show fucked them so but sooooo bad)

And as Star Wars specific, I don't think anyone will be surprised if I say it's Kalluzeb, right 🤣 They're my babies and I adore them!

15. What’s the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Anything for Arrow or Supergirl. I sworn off those fandoms after their respectively awful endings.

No promises, but there's still hope for all if my unfinished works for Star Wars 😅

16. What’s your writing strengths?

Coming up with ideas. So, so many ideas. All the time and I want to write them all.

17. What’s your writing weaknesses?

Finishing writing the above-mentioned ideas. I tend to splay myself too much when I'm writing, and it takes me forever to get to the portion I really want to write (usually the idea that sparked the whole writing process) and I lose steam. That's why I have so many unfinished WIPs. I wish they'd write themselves.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

It's ok if used sparingly. A word here, a phrase over there is fine, but if a wall of dialogue that the reader needs to scroll down to the notes or click on a tooltip to find out the meaning it's the worst!!! A better solution for a writer that really needs/wants to have a whole conversation in another language for plot reasons or whatever, then all they need to do is to say once that the characters are talking in the other language and put the dialogue in the same language they've been writing the rest of the narrative and in italic.

The characters who don't speak the language won't understand what's being said, but the reader will and their reading will be more pleasant and fluid.

An Argentinian show called Floricienta. A modern retelling of Cinderella.

20. Favourite fic you’ve ever written?

I don't like this question either! All my fics are my babies! How do you want me to choose?!! There are so many I'm proud of. I guess I'll point the most recent one: Feed Me Poison, Fill me till I Drown I really like how this story is coming along. It's not done yet (what else is new? 😅) but what's coming is so so good!

I've never asked anything on tumbler before, but since you're taking questions, I'll give it a go.

Will you ever do another long flick with tim and damian. I think it's a dynamic that's not explored enough. Your "Life happens" is great.

I've got a fic on the back burner I actually have a full outline for! It's Tim & Damian and its basically about them being kidnapped and held captive for a long time, I think it was a year total. They go through a lot of trauma together as they are forced to do the bidding of a villain before they're finally rescued, and while they start the fic out with a pretty strong sibling rivalry, they're super extremely close at the end.

I've posted some snippets from the story over the years, because I have had it on the backburner for literal years. I think you can find links to them all on my WIPs page on my tumblr (you have to be on desktop to see that page) I hope to write this someday. It will be novel-length. I've just got too much on my plate already.

But here's a snippet of right after Tim gets captured: (I wrote it in 2018 so it's a bit old as far as my writing goes.)

Tim wasn’t sure if he was awake.  

That was not a feeling he’d ever dealt with before.  Then again, he’d never been drugged out of his mind for God knows how long.  

His head was kililing him, that was the first thing he noticed.  The second was that he was really, really thirsty.  The third, and honestly it should have been the first thing, was that he was restrained.  

It was kind of funny it took him so long, because it’s not like it was very comfortable, either.  His arms were a bit tingly and numb at the same time from being pinned above his head.  A quick pull at his wrists allowed him to feel the metal securing him to the wall behind him. 

Was it a wall?  It didn’t feel flat behind his back like a wall should.  At least whoever tied him up did so while he was sitting down.  Because with as asleep as his arms were, he could only imagine how exhausted he’d be if he had to stand up like this.  

Now that he’d assessed his physical condition, he finally opened his eyes.  Slowly.  Not because he was definelty dreading the assault on his headache the lights around him were sure to cause, no.  Because it was a good tactical move.  If there were someone in the room with him, he shouldn’t give away that he was awake before he knew his condition.  That’s it.  

But when he opened his eyes, all he could do was blink.  Hard.  He opened and shut his eyes several times, because what he was seeing made no sense.

Becuase he was seeing nothing.

Nothing at all.  

Had he gone blind?  He rubbed his face against his arm, trying to lift whatever blindfold they had to have on his face, but there was nothing there.  Not even his cowl.  Which, he should have realized that sooner.  He most certainly was not in his uniform.  Not at all.  He was in shorts and a t-shirt, at most.  Maybe even just boxers and an undershirt.  He couldn’t tell without being able to see.

And again, he couldn’t see. 

This was… not good.  Kind of bad.  Kind of very super bad.  

Yep.

He was in quite the pickle.  

So much for a secret identity.  

Tim knocked his head backwards onto the wall behind him and winced.  He forgot about the headache.  And that was definetly not a wall.  It was way too solid.  And cold.  And hard.  Was it rock?  He turned his head to the side so he could rub his cheek against the cold, damp surface.  It was defineitly rock.  

Why would he be attached to a rock?  

That was just a really dumb thing to be attached to.  Sure, it was probably pretty secure, but who had the time to go out and find a rock big enough?  And based on how cold the ground his bare feet were touching, it was probably rock too.

And why the hell couldn’t he see?  Was he really blind?  Because his eyes were not adjusting, and now his vision was starting to do something really wonky on him.  It was like there was movement all around him, but obviously there was nothing.  Because he couldn’t see. 

Ugh.  Tim’s mind was trying to tell him something.  He just knew there was something he should have realized by now, but his brain was not sharing the connection it had made.  Stupid drugs.  Stupid rock.  Stupid cold wet ground.  

If Tim had a free hand, he would have smacked himself on the forehead.  Becuase duh.  He was in a cave.  An underground cave.  He couldn’t see because there was no light.  None at all, so his eyes couldn’t even adjust.  Without a source of light, however dim, there was nothing for his eyes to see.  

Stupid human eyes with their lame limitations.  

The longer Tim spent awake, the more he realized how cold it really was.  It was actually downright freezing.  Probably not much below 50 or 55º, but still too cold for a t-shirt and shorts. And much too cold to be sitting up against a rock wall that was leeching every ounce of heat he had right out of his body.  

It took some manuvering, but Tim managed to scoot his feet up to his body and shift his weight to balancing on his feet, so he was in a funky squatting position.  It would be hell on his hamstrings, but at least he was almost curled into a ball.  Maybe it would help him warm up a bit.  If Tim thought it was cold, Damian was probably miserable.  

Damian.

Shit.  Fu..dge.  

Damian.  

Where the hell was Damian?  

Holding his breath for a second, Tim listened carefully to his surroundings, and they were exactly as he thought.  Completely silent.  There was an almost static sound in his ear, due to the utter silence around him.  All he could hear was the sounds of his own body moving around slightly, the swishing of the fabric in his clothes, and whistle of his breath through his nose.  There was no one else in the room with him.  Cave?

Okay.  This was really bad.
