i mainly listen to doom and death metal! i also rly love black metal! my fav metal bands rn are reverend bizarre, goatwhore, acid bath, eyehategod, spectral voice, damaar, azazel, hulder, fudge tunnel, 1782, chrch, primitive man, antichrist siege machine, darkthrone, ministry, suffocation, morbid angel, bolt thrower, electric wizard, saint vitus, candlemass, and melvins! i listen to a lot more than that tho. in terms of non-metal, i love christian death, cocteau twins, ethel cain, radiohead, mazzy star, kali uchis, rudimentary peni, joy division, diamanda galas, liquid liquid, king crimson, and much more!

i also rly love art, literature, photography, and movies! some of my fav films are silence of the lambs (i have a deaths head hawkmoth tattoo!!,) se7en, dracula, Oppenheimer, and the vvitch.

black metal is funny cuz when I first started I was like "yeah all of its good it all sounds mostly the same anyways" but after a while, I've gotten so picky. when I started I would've been like "yeah this sounds pretty standard and fine" now I'm like "what the FUCK is this alien theme song ass keyboard notes in the background bruh this band fucking sucks" "these vocals sound like dogshit, too blackened death metal sounding for me" "the production quality is too good I can hear the instruments. they must be posers" "where's double bass drums" would've sounded like scrawled ramblings i'd find on the walls of a psychiatric inpatient ward to me a while ago

I am having trouble getting out and around to physically gather the types of herbs and other materials I get from more wild places since my leg got obliterated, but I certainly have some time for internal rituals and a lot of ancestor connection, as well as doing things like finally making the black rose salts I kept putting off.

I have enjoyed combining salts with other useful materials like oils, herbs and ashes in ways less common than your typical black salts recently and they prove to be a great addition to connect with things especially in conjunction with earth.

And, I made some more pagan black metal and a kind of emotional metalcore (or something?) song, both out now. More (dark, thematic and not always reflective of myself as opposed to the black/grind stuff lmao) pagan ritual themes in some slam-y stuff Feb.

As a bonus, here are some pictures showing my reconstructed leg I find pretty cool. I got a ~5 in. titanium plateand while they are not visible in the x-ray, there are wires in my leg and ankle acting in place of ligaments as those got absolutely annihilated as well.

Guelph’s Nepenthe are a phenomenal band. Their blend of doom metal and black metal is absolutely gorgeous and reminds me a lot of groups like Woods of Ypres and Agalloch. It was a pleasure to join them at the Jimmy Jazz for the release of their new EP, ‘The Fading Promise of Tomorrow’, which you should definitely check out.
