This old barn was at the top of the hike down to one of the big waterfalls we used to go and jump off of back in my college days. The waterfall was called Compression Falls, and its the only place I've ever seen a hellbender salamander in the wild. Western North Carolina is such a wonderful place.

This is one of a few sweet photos Miss Violet got. I stopped giving fucks a long time ago and if there is an opportunity for me to get as close to nature as possible, I'm going to do it. I've been skinny dipping since I could walk thanks to the beautiful Betsie River running through my backyard and Lake Michigan. My parents encouraged us to go outside. If I start to feel restless, I go outside. If I feel stagnant in my creativity, I go outside. If I feel lost, I go outside. See a pattern? Underneath it all, we are wild. There is freedom in embracing that fact.

Happy Summer Solstice! It's officially summer even though it fells like it's been here for a while already. I hope this is a good summer for everyone to get outdoors and enjoy nature. SWIPE FOR FULL PICTURE! Finally got a chance to hike for the first real time this year a few days ago. I finished tackling the Roan Highlands in the SB6K challenge for the Carolina Mountain Club. The mountains were still covered in snow and the trails were only traceable via foot and ski tracks.
