SWIPE FOR FULL PICTURE! Finally got a chance to hike for the first real time this year a few days ago. I finished tackling the Roan Highlands in the SB6K challenge for the Carolina Mountain Club. The mountains were still covered in snow and the trails were only traceable via foot and ski tracks. I went hiking in Canada yesterday, not really but here is what Danny Bernstein (Hiking the Carolina Mountains) says about the area... "Climbing 4000 ft. is the climatic equivalent of traveling 1,000 miles north, which would put the top of Roan Mountains in the same zone as Canada." I bagged two more SB6K Peaks (South Beyond 6000'), Roan High Knob and Roan High Bluff : )
