So for program i use photoshop and sometimes procreate. Also heads up that I use sm brushes on 1 drawings and use different brushes on the next drawings coz i like experimenting so i intend to forgot what brushes i specifically use for some pieces ☠️

For linearts i use this brush but i modified it heavily on procreate n photoshop so it will act like gel pen

For procreate, i commonly use same brush set as photoshop (i’ll link them bellow) and 6b pencil brush from procreate (its a very good textured brush 😭☝️) and hard round brush that i modified w noise texture

For photoshop,

the brush set that I constantly use is from these packs (sometimes i modified them a lot it always change a lot sometimes)

*my friend gave me marco’s brush but u have to purchase it w his course vid to get the brush set

hi, thank you so much ! i'm not like amazing at tutorials but i'd be happy to share with you my layers & process for this particular set (she saved a psd for once ... everyone cheered!) and give some general advice + i'm going to direct you to this tutorial by @woozis who i think does a great job of explaining things and has more experience with gif blending specifically (this was my first set using 2 gifs in this way; normally i use blending for static gfx or using overlays that aren't 2 gifs from the same source content, which are both great ways to practice) . i highly recommend utilizing multiple resources to get a feel for how different creators do the thing you want to learn, but at the end of the day i basically just start throwing stuff into photoshop and watch it come together in real time with anything gfx related lol . anyways, with that big intro out of the way, let's talk about how we made this set using this gif as the example:

so step one for me working with this content aka music video was just picking out the clips i liked and knew i wanted to use in the set . when it comes to gif blending the 2 gifs you're using need to be the same exact amount of frames or you need to be able to get them there, so basically after i had just pulled as many gifs out of the mv as i roughly thought wanted to use, i imported all of them into ps to see the frame rates and started mix-and-matching the ones that were around the same length to see what would look the best layered over each other. this is very personal preference based but in this case i liked that they were executing similar choreography from different angles and in different outfits and settings. for this gif, i ended up with these 2 separate ones:

these are sharpened but no coloring added yet - as you can see one of the clips is black and white so that can be a great option for blending because you can add whatever color you want over it. of course, if the original content isn't b&w you can just put a b&w filter on it and do the same thing - i recommend this if you want to put gifs together that aren't already color compatible. anyway, once you have your gifs you convert them both to timeline and just drag and drop one over the other. it's usually not going to matter which one you put on top, but that's the one you're going to use the blending effect on, so i went with the black and white gif over the color.

to blend the gifs, i set the blending mode to 'screen' on the top gif. for this one i kept the opacity at 100% but on other gifs in this set i brought it down to around 85% depending on how it looked. then i added my coloring to the base gif + i deepened the blacks on the top gif (note that you need a clipping mask for anything you want to do to the top gif without doing it to both). this is where you'll want to start messing around as you go, screen is my most used option for these purposes but sometimes overlay or multiply looks cooler, and you can mess with whatever opacity you think looks best. here's what my layers look like at this point with that top gif selected + what the gif looks like blended before and after coloring:

already pretty cool! but i wanted to add color to the black and white to really bring the effect home. i used the eyedrop tool to grab the blue from the lighting in the bottom gif (for the other color overlays in this set, i used the red from taeyong's hair) and added that into a solid color layer over the b&w gif with a clipping mask, and set the blending for that solid color layer to 'overlay' (again, you can try different ones for the look you like best)

this is my finished blended gif, from there i just added the text! the actual process of making the gif isn't what is so time consuming imo it's more just about finding the clips that will work together and testing out what you like the look of. this one is probably my favorite blending result from the set and there are plenty of things that i feel like don't look perfect, but ultimately i'm happy with the result and i think the set looks cool anyways -- so i encourage you to just give it a try and chances are it's going to turn out looking nice!

1. why did you choose your url?

i love win metawin. simple. my previous url like very early on was sarawatined and then i went to metawwin then i removed the w. hehe

i always considered making one (i got lazy) but then i realized that this blog is my personality and i like having one blog for all my interests and likes bc it represents my brain lmao and i’m aware it’s a mess but i love it.

3. how long have you been on tumblr?

i made this blog on april last year but i’ve been on tumblr since october 2009 so i’ve seen it all.

nope! i prefer scheduling posts tbh.

5. why did you start your blog in the first place?

the main reason was 2gether. i made it during the final eps and i just remember seeing everything on my dash and being so fascinated bc it was my hyperfixation at that time. my friend angel had made a blog and i was hesitant to come back to tumblr at first bc my prev. blog got hacked and deleted and it was a scary experience for me. but i ended up doing it and i was super happy. also, i started watching thai dramas like around 2016 so it was nice to find all these dramas on tumblr again and even new ones afterwards.

6. why did you choose your icon/pfp?

she’s my wife 💍 (that CK shoot.... man. i edited it on photoshop and idk i like how it turned out and i really like the bg color. and how she’s holding a film camera as in to represent all the dramas i watch ;) or smth like that)

7. why did you choose your header?

well i love brightwin, they were a huge part of the reason i made this blog so i like having a win url and a bright layout and technically when i had a twitter i had a bright username so they just complemented each other. 💕

so i’m using 4K video downloader to get the clips, then using mpv for screenshots, and then putting them into photoshop 2020 (i have a student discount). i have been following these tutorials which are suuuper easy and helpful!! i had a bit of difficulty with 2019 photoshop but i updated it and seemed to fix itself. and the folders on my computer were a mess but i figured that out too hehe.

and i have some experience w photo editing so i’m playing around with exposure and coloring n stuff, but i honestly don’t really know what i’m doing ashfsgahs and just exporting it when i think it looks okay hahahah 😌 i hope this helps!! :D

one: the coloring + contrasts between the red and the blue + red as a representation of wwx & blue for lwj IS PERFECT ??? also the cherry blossom motif of love + passion // the way they look at each other showcases that perfectly, but when paired with your coloring, it’s even more celestial AND HOW THEY GLANCE DOWN ALL SHY ;-; gifting dramas is hard work but I love how you’re able to find all these subtle nuances :O

two: HE CARE HIM !!! third gif okay, the way he holds him so dearly... I want to cry a river // also nightless city is probably the worst set of all the other sects but you make it look so pretty & brought out the grayer/lavender tones in this while keeping the skin on wangxian glowing... am soft 

three: ARGUABLY (don’t argue with me) the most aesthetic scene in the drama and IS THAT A CRANE or bird idk ANYWAY, so when wuji instrumental plays in the background & reminds me that lwj has only knelt in the snow for 2 people in his entire lifetime... I bawled; also this scene was so hard to color? at least from my experience, but you managed to bring out all the peachy tones on his face + made the gifset warmer // his face and footsteps are so solemn despite the contrast of your coloring + sharpening !!! i love angst

four: so what... they’re just meant to be soulmates huh... THE GREEN AND REDS IN THIS... when I try to color like this, it looks like christmas :) but when you do it, it’s probably the softest/nicest thing to look at :O and I love your variety w/ decorative + sans serif font and how you played around with the layouts + designs // wangxian GLOW here and idk how you process such big & sexy gifs on photoshop lol hmmm AND THE QUOTE IS SO CUTE !!! like I knew cql was gonna have a happy ending but this set gave me more reassurance after I watched it >.<

five: I am Devastated... when I first watch cql I recorded this part and posted it to my snapchat story so everyone could hear me cry over wuji and how wwx was Big Stupid and didn’t know it was Their Song... so okay, the reds + greens here = beautiful (not surprising) and I love how you have some farther scenes and closeups as well // you also mirrored how happy wwx felt when he did this exact scenario with his own parents AND I THINK that’s why this set makes me feel so happy and portrays how lwj is wwx’s home <3

hello this is just a random question but I was wondering if you can describe the different styles that gif makers have here (kind of like how ottokajj-vixx vixx did for her recs)

ohhhh so i got this question too ;; i don’t know if i’ll be able to do it nicely, i really can’t put it into words XD… but okay, let’s try~ i’ll mention as much people as i can recognize by looking at their edits on dash hehe ;u; but i’ll probably forget someone… sorry ):

@chahakyeo - you must have seen this person’s gifs and you must remember them because they were amazingly pretty - i mean the best and the most natural colouring out there! nobody else can colour like this ;;;; every gifset looks subtle but sharp at the same time, especially live performances and kdramas, stunning! everything is made in the best quality, i’m so… jelly… because this kind of psd usually means grainy gifs but it doesn’t happen here ;u; every colour is so well highlighted but not overdone… will i ever get to this point? i don’t think so ;;

@ravbin - q u e e n  of pastel psd! no matter how long i look at her edits they’re still beautiful ;; colourings are usually very well balanced (ok, dominated by warm colors but in a very good way), light and pleasing to look at~ cute pinkish or yellowish tones on her gifs are very recognizable ;u; i see she sometimes experimenting with darker or vibrant colourings and they’re still amazing! btw, pastel psds usually make gifs kinda blurry, but this user’s works are always nicely sharpened~

@ch-y - so suprisingly this user was @cha-nnnnn before aka the most skilled gif maker here! and i recognized her right away because i’m a fan lmaothis user’s gifs are always very high quality, gifs are so well sharpened and not grainy at all… how? ;A;) psd is always on point, natural but unique in its own way! skin tone always turns out beautiful and i’m so jealous ): tipical for psds is that gifs are a little bit darkened, blacks are not completely black (if you know what i mean ahaahahah it happens to me a lot) and yellow tones….. breathtaking~ and she sometimes adds subtitles to her gifs that also have great settings =w=

@royalbins - another amazingly skilled person! she does beautiful colouring, natural but outstanding at the same time, warm and pretty but not overdone, i love it~ skin of people on her gifs looks beautiful and is basically glowing, it’s amazing + gifs are always very very clear, well sharpened, detailed in every way and not grainy at all (how is this possible? i feel like i’m the only one with horrible grainy gifs xD) i can see she’s saving her gifs under diffusion and?? how?? i always chose “pattern” because diffusion works horribly for me but she rocks it!

@saltykong - another amazing natural and warm colouring here! her gifs are usually a little bit darkened and subtly vibrant ;u; she uses yellow in every way possible and i’m so mad because i can’t do it lmao… yellow is the hardest thing to adjust for me meanwhile it’s the most inportant, especially when talking about skin tone :// gifs are so so so so so smooth~ nobody does smoother edits! at the same time they’re still nicely detailed and has great quality ;u;

@hansanghyuked - you must recognize annie’s gifs because they’re all over tumblr and are very unique! her gifs are usually not very bright but warm and natural~ i feel like she doesn’t make much changes in the settings but they still look great,  ;u; and wow, her gifs are always so sharp….. i didn’t know it’s possible to make so detailed gifs without making them look horribly grainy? big respect! also, she sometimes does colorful subtitles for her gifsets, they’re very recognizable too~

@fan-girl-zone - this user’s gifs have such pleasing colourings~ i really don’t know how to describe this… they’re just very warm and natural but at the same time there is something similar to pastels

@ottokaji-vixx - here’s another master of photoshop, you must have seen agata’s gifs a lot of times and you just know she made them :^) her colourings are usually neutral but often also warm~ she highlights cold colours pretty well! skin tones are so well shown, she does best things with yellow tone ;u; and also as i said about royalbins, people’s skin on her gifs is glowing! + she also uses diffusion in the way i will never be able to lmao how do you all save gifs in diffusion without making them weird ;A;

@jongtaekwoon - her gifs are so recognizable too! i feel like she does gentle little changes in the settings but her gifs are stunning and… idk how to say it, they’re shiny? omg you’ll understand when you look at her edits! ;u; always nicely sharpened, every detail is visible, even when video she’s working on is not very good in te terms of quality~ and i feel like she’s always first with translations/subtitles so bless her

@kongsook - queen of vibrant colourings! this person always has stunning psds, amazing colours, it’s so easy to say who make them because no other can do such magic :^) her style is so unique ;u; i’m always so jealous because vibrat and high quality together… how it this possible? >:(( also, her gifs are so so so smooth~~ but well detailed at the same time, i don’t know if it’s because of sharpening settings or psds but i looove it! 

i feel like i forgot a lot of people ;; but i’m so tired at the moment and can’t think ;A; all these people are amazing and tumblr wouldn’t be the same without them, i hope everyone appreciate their work~
