Linear Aerospike SR-71 Experiment (LASRE) by NASA on The Commons Via Flickr: The NASA SR-71A successfully completed its first cold flow flight as part of the NASA/Rocketdyne/Lockheed Martin Linear Aerospike SR-71 Experiment (LASRE) at NASA's Dryden Flight Research Center (now NASA Armstrong), Edwards, California on March 4, 1998. During a cold flow flight, gaseous helium and liquid nitrogen were cycled through the linear aerospike engine to check the engine's plumbing system for leaks and to check the engine operating characteristics. Cold-flow tests had to be accomplished successfully before firing the rocket engine experiment in flight. The SR-71 flew for one hour and fifty-seven minutes, reaching a maximum speed of Mach 1.58 on this flight. Anaemia May (2023) was really one of the months I've ever had and looking back on it I can say with confidence that every decision I made about it was a bad one. I had to crunch five 2k+ word essays and three presentations in five weeks simply by dint of course design (bad) and for some reason I chose to read and synthesise 10-15 papers for every single assignment. I handed in four of those essays multiple days late and the guy running the course said he thought one of them was almost publishable. I would sleep 12hrs a day and continue to feel bad and still thought to myself "no, I think getting my hands on some iron tablets would simply be too much hassle, I can push through it just fine." I would show up to literally every interaction with the tutor like "sorry to do this again :/ I don't know why this is happening" (<- Does Know Why This Is Happening) and got away with it only because said tutor was politically committed to Helping People. At the end of the month we had a talk + dinner with a visiting anthropologist and another professor who was briefly back from doing research in Greece and I tripped on my own feet and sprawled across the concrete in front of them, taking the skin off of my palm, elbow, and knee, in the latter case so badly that I couldn't walk properly for at least two weeks afterwards, and then accidentally told the professor to leave me alone when he tried to help.
My point is. If you think you're anaemic you need to do something about that ASAP. Please, for my sake.

Screenshot of a YouTube comment that says:
Lovely video. I have a little personal anecdote that slots surprisingly neatly into the themes of this video.
71 years ago, my grandfather took a cycling trip around the perimeter of France with a friend. He kept a diary, meticulously documenting the events of almost every day. Last month, my brothers and I embarked on the same journey, following in his footsteps. I'd avoided reading the diary beforehand, so every day I'd read about his experience at the same time that I had them myself: the places he'd visited, the food he'd eaten, the people he'd found, and at the same time we'd see the same sights. Some days we were ahead of him, some days we were behind.
After a few days, I realised that something very surprising was happening. 71 years later, and 40 years after the death of this man we never knew, we stopped talking about him in the past tense. It took me a while to notice it, but it slowly became more obvious. We'd say things like "he's just 10 kilometers ahead of us now" or "he's over there as he's taking that photo." Seven decades, suddenly erased--an experience that felt almost out of time--and in those few days he felt closer and more alive than he ever had before. It was a strange experience, and something I doubt I shall ever have again.

Not to be a "Negative Nancy", but if anyone, and I mean anyone thinks any member of the main voice cast sounds "too old" to be playing their characters and should retire, you're ageist and we cannot be friends.✌
#Going Jellyfishing#I mean God forbid voice changes as a result of aging are a thing.🙄#I remember when so many people complained about SpongeBob not sounding the same as he did in the “golden era”...#... when the first official trailer for “The Cosmic Shake” and my God they were annoying.#Tom Kenny is 61 years old now. OF COURSE he's not going to have the same higher register as he once had...#... in the earlier seasons. He's been at this for almost 25 years now - give the man a break. He's not sick or dying.#He's merely going through a natural process all people his age experience - it's called getting older.#I also once saw people complain about Squidward and Mr. Krabs sounding too different/old for them... and I couldn't...#... help but raise an eyebrow at that. They literally do not sound any different than they usually do. Are we listening...#... to the same voices here??#For one Squidward is SUPPOSED to sound constantly tired and grouchy because he IS. He's tired of everyone's stupidity...#... and of being overlooked. You'd be grouchy too if all the things he went through happened to you.#Also Rodger Bumpass is 71 years old as of this post and all things considered he's fit as a fiddle.#He still stands strong on his own two feet and from all the video footage I've seen of him he is BRIMMING with energy.#So if I were any of you I wouldn't worry. He's not slowing down anytime soon.#As for Mr. Krabs... I think people are forgetting what his WHOLE character is about.#He's literally the OLDEST member of the Seaworthy Six - mere hours older than Plankton.#While his age is not stated he's implied to AT LEAST be in his fifties. He's also a former Navy man...#... AND pirate with years and years of fighting experience under his belt.#OF COURSE he's going to sound like a crusty old sea dog - because he IS.#Also Clancy Brown is 64 years old as of this post. That's nowhere near too old to play a character like Mr. Krabs.#If anything he is just the right age to play him. Soooo yeah.#Anyways I'm done rambling here. People age and ageism sucks. That's the gist of it really.

Alright but i’m kind of obsessed with how the case from tmagp 23 uses the comments and likes under the posts as a form of horror. At first it seems like this is your standard internet experience of a post with a couple of likes and no one actually commenting, and the likes lessening the longer the thread goes on, like a normal series of posts where people stop reading halfway through. And then… when shit starts going down, suddenly the likes jump up from 13 to 34. The stay consistent, drop some more, and then climb until we get to 71. And suddenly, this isn’t typical anymore. The lack of comments turns from a normal internet thing to a different type of horror - the horror of an audience watching you, observing your life being consumed by things bigger than you. Suddenly, every horror you witness becomes fuel for the silent audience who will drink in your pain and do nothing. The worse things become, the more of them flock towards you.
And then finally, when you are finally being fully consumed by the horrors you summoned, they leave comments. They speak up.
They’re gone before you can plead for help. They’ve seen enough. They’ve taken what they wanted from you.
And doesn’t that sound like the habits of a certain fear entity we all know?

A pub in the 1950s somewhere in Germany
Two men are sitting at a table and boasting about their war experiences. The first: "1914-18. Western Front. Iron Cross!" The second: "1939-45. Eastern Front. Knight's Cross!"
A wrinkled old man slowly stands up at the end of the room, limps slowly over to the two of them on his stick, and pulls himself upright in front of them: "1870-71. No medals, but: won the war, gentlemen!"

Happy Halloween, everyone!
I've got some good news - I've finished tallying up the results of the favourite anime survey and can now, finally, reveal what Tumblr's favourite anime actually are. To start with, I'd like to thank everyone who responded - yes, all 1172 (wow!) of you - and to apologise for he delay in actually getting these results out. For anyone who needs a reminder, these results are based on how many points each anime received - a first place ranking was worth five points, a second or third place ranking was worth four, a fourth or fifth place ranking was worth three, a sixth-tenth place ranking was worth two, and a eleventh-twentieth place ranking was worth one. When multiple anime had the same number of points, the anime with the most first-place votes was placed higher. The results are below the read more right here - I hope you enjoy reading!
